This study is primarily focused on the impact
of pandemic to the academic performance of G11 and G12
senior high school students of Samar National School.
The researchers aim was to find out the effects of the
pandemic to student’s studies and overall performance
due to the spread of Covid-19.
This Study will be conducted at home due to
pandemic, using the internet and social media sites as a
medium in gathering our data.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought into attention the mental health of various affected populations including children and youth. The objective of the study was to assess the perceived mental health and learning environment of college students in Nepal during COVID-19 outbreak. The college students enrolled in bachelor’s degree completed a self-administered questionnaire survey. The students were approached through text messaging and email and selected with non-probability sampling during the pandemic. The study assessed information on demographic characteristics, academic difficulties, financial and family difficulties, and mental health issues with coping mechanism during the outbreak. Descriptive findings revealed that the academic difficulties were more likely to be reported by high percentage of students. The students also described they were facing family and financial problems. High percentage of students was associated with depressive thought. To cope with anxiety and depressive thoughts, more than half students have pursued support from family and friends, helped themselves with self-management activities during the pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic situation is making a significant negative impact on mental health and learning environment of college students. The study suggests that health service providers and educators need to consider proactive measures to support the mental health and learning environment of students. In this study, we produce a series of projections of COVID-19-related learning loss and its potential effect on test scores in the 2020-21 school year based on (a) estimates from prior literature and (b) analyses of typical summer learning patterns of five million students. Under these projections, students are likely to return in fall 2020 with approximately 63-68% of the learning gains in reading relative to a typical school year and with 37-50% of the learning gains in math. However, we estimate that losing ground during the COVID-19 school closures would not be universal, with the top third of students potentially making gains in reading. The Coronavirus pandemic 2019 (COVID-19) is hastily spreading, bringing pressure and challenges to international students and educators in a higher education institution who were locked down on campus during the COVID-19 outbreak. We sought to explore psychological experiences of international higher education students and educators during the COVID-19 pandemic in Eswatini. A qualitative phenomenological design was adopted. Participants were 20 conveniently selected international higher education students and educators who were locked down on campus from March 20 to September 25, 2020. The interviews were conducted face to face. Data were thematically analysed. The study was informed by the ecological systems theory. The psychological experiences of international higher education students and educators during COVID-19 pandemic were categorized in to four themes. First negative emotions present in early stages involving discomfort, anxiety and helplessness caused by isolation, fear and concern for safety. Second self-coping strategies included psychological and life adjustments, social distancing, acceptance of wearing of masks, hand sanitizing and online/blended learning. Third we reported growth under the crisis which included affection for family members, peers and self-reflection. Finally, we reported that positive emotions occurred concurrently with negative emotions. During the COVID-19 crisis positive and negative emotions of international higher education students and educators intertwined and co-occurred. Self-coping strategies and psychological growth played a crucial role in maintaining mental health of the students and educators. The international students and educators in a higher education institution appeared to be thriving in coping with the COVID19 crisis and lockdown situation which enhanced their participation in online/blended learning.

Due to outbreak of COVID 19, various activities was carried over by health ministry to control the spread. Lockdown as made impact on academic performance among the students, especially nursing students lack their clinical skills and academic performance. Due to restriction the students face lot of issues to overcome the academic performance A study was conducted to assess the impact on mental health during COVID 19 pandemic among B.Sc. Nursing students in selected Nursing College at Chennai. The objectives of the was to assess the impact on mental health during the COVID 19 pandemic among B.Sc. Nursing students and to associate the impact on mental health during the COVID 19 pandemic among B.Sc. Nursing students with their demographic variable. With the view Descriptive study was conducted among 232, 60 B.Sc. nursing students who fulfilled the inclusion criteria was selected as sample. The study participants were selected using simple random sampling technique. The analysis revealed that the frequency distribution of impact of mental health during COVID 19 shows that Among the 60 B.Sc. Nursing students, majority of the students 78.3 shows moderate level of mental health impact and some of them were mild impact 15.0 and few of them 6.7 were high level of mental health impact during pandemic period. The mean and standard deviation of mental health variables of participants N=60 reveals that the highest mean 3.42Â± 0.996 was missed for their friends, followed by 3.03Â±1.104 felt lack of clinical knowledge 3.08Â±1.124 was for worried about exams. It shows that the students had moderate impact on mental health during COVID 19. Superficial fungal infections are common among school-going children due to their involvement in practices that promote the spread at school or home. However, practices, knowledge and attitude of these children on prevention and control of fungal infection are poorly understood. This study assessed the practices, knowledge and attitude on the prevention and control of fungal infections among 163 children aged 5-12 years in western Kenya. A cross-sectional study design and systematic sampling method were adopted. Information on knowledge, attitude and practices on fungal prevention and control was collected using a structured questionnaire. Results showed that over 50% of the pupils had adequate knowledge on prevention and control of superficial fungal infections. On attitude, 58.9%of the children believed that those with fungal infection should not be allowed to play with others or go to school. Furthermore, 70.6% and 54.6% of the pupils agreed that sharing of toys and hairbrushes respectively leads in promoting the infections. These findings show that pupils demonstrate a good knowledge of superficial fungal with marked limited infection and control measures. Therefore, there is a need for stakeholders in health and education sectors to develop a policy framework involving learners in prevention and control of fungal infections.

The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) current pandemic is a worldwide health emergency like no other. It is not the only COVID-19 infection in infants, children, and adolescents that is causing concern among their families and professionals; there are also other serious issues that must be carefully detected and addressed. Major things are identified due to COVID-19, some elements are affecting children’s healthcare in direct or indirect ways, affecting them not just from a medical standpoint but also from social, psychological, economic, and educational perspectives. All these factors may have affected children’s mental development, particularly in rural settings. As Bangladesh faces a major challenge such as a lack of public mental health facilities, especially in rural areas. So, we discovered a method to predict the mental development condition of rural children that they are facing at this time of COVID-19 using machine learning technology. This research work can predict whether a rural child is mentally developed or mentally hampered in Bangladesh and this prediction gives nice feedback.

This study used a mixed methods approach to capture key findings on COVID-19 impacts on education and challenges that hinder continued education particularly in disadvantaged and rural areas. The respondents were 900 parents, 943 children, 15 teachers and education officials in 594 villages in 9 provinces of Indonesia. The results showed that 1 out of 3 children stopped learning and children learned less. Children had limited access to widely supported online learning. While the offline method was more applicable, still it had some challenges. Children’s mental health was affected and they experienced excessive emotions of fear and anxiety. Many parents were not ready to support children in learning school subjects while doing livelihood activities at the same time. Some children experienced domestic violence. Parents did not have a spare budget to provide distance learning facilities and had to sacrifice education over basic needs. The risk of drop out of school was heightened.

This descriptive correlational study was conducted to determine the social media utilization and its effects on student’s academic performance in selected secondary schools in the Division of Northern Samar. This study utilized purposive sampling in determining the 1,144 Grade 10 student respondent from the following schools in Northern Samar Balicuatro area Allen National High School, San Isidro Agro Industrial High School, The majority of the students own only one 1 social media account. The findings also revealed that the students had good academic performance in all subjects, namely English, Mathematics, Science, Filipino, Araling Panlipunan, MAPEH, ESP, and TVE. This resulted in an overall proficient academic performance. It was also found out that the best positive effect of using social media is its effectiveness in communicating with their friends. On the other hand, one of the prominent negative effects of social media on students is that social media is addictive and a challenge that affects their academic life. The findings also revealed that the profile and the social media utilization have no significant relationship with the students’ academic performance. The top school related problem that emerged is the reduced learning and research capabilities when utilizing social media. In general, the school related problems encountered by the students using social media were described as very alarming. The top personal problem is that in social media, the students are more prone to cyber bullying. This study aimed to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on the academic performance of students during emergency remote teaching and learning in higher education institutions in Namibia. This study used qualitative methods, meaning qualitative data were collected and analysed using interpretive techniques. This study employed a case study research design as a single unit of analysis. In this case study, the fourth-year NUST students were the participants. This study used semi-structured interviews to collect qualitative data to establish the experiences and views of honour students’ self-regulation learning skills during emergency remote teaching and learning and how it affected their academic performance. The study participants were 30 honour students who provided information regarding their experience and views influence of COVID-19 on the academic performance of students in higher education institutions in Namibia during emergency remote teaching and learning. The study findings were that most students were facing the challenges of not having devices to participate in online teaching and learning. Some students do not know how to use gadgets to learn, and network coverage was the main issue for some students, such as network data and self-teaching or learning. In addition, some students stated that there was a lack of Internet access for online classes that lack commitment and self-discipline for many students because they know that they do not write the examination on their respective campuses. This study recommends that higher education institutions in Namibia use parallel hybrid teaching and learning of both online and face-to-face modes of teaching and learning.

This mixed-method study explored whether school staff (teachers, principals, vice-principals, paraprofessionals, school counselors, and school social workers) experienced any challenges while working in a school setting during the COVID-19 pandemic. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected from an online survey instrument and follow-up semistructured interviews. A total of 207 educational staff from 30 different states in the U.S. completed the online questionnaire, and ten volunteered to be interviewed. The results revealed the challenges educational school staff experienced during the COVID-19 Pandemic, March 2020-present. The major challenges faced by staff relative to students was poor attendance and student mental health. Personal challenges experienced by the staff included concerns about contacting COVID-19 and infecting family members. A thematic analysis of the data led to the identification of four main themes: i) Blurred lines between home and school; ii) Mental health challenges should guide educational reform; iii) Obstacles to learning; and iv) Lack of support from home. These findings serve to begin a larger conversation about the needs of students and school personnel during a global pandemic.

Influenza is a contributing factor to school absences. Primary prevention for influenza includes immunization. School-located influenza vaccine (SLIV) programs provide greater access for students to be immunized. A retrospective review of preexisting data from four academic years was conducted to examine the relationship between SLIV participation and absenteeism among students at eight public elementary schools in Effingham County, Georgia. Results identified differences in average frequency of absences between SLIV and non-SLIV years as well as between SLIV participants and nonparticipants for the 2 SLIV years. Implications for practice include the potential for increased herd immunity among students, which may also extend to other parties within the school community and at home, thus promoting overall wellness and future student success. McGiboney (2012) examined attendance data among Georgia elementary school students, noting a significant relationship between number of days in school (defined as ‘‘seat time’’), success in school, and ultimately, probability of high school graduation. One cause of school absenteeism is influenza. The effects of influenza are widespread. The virus possesses the capabil- ity to infect large number of people rapidly, impacting 10%– 20% of the U.S. population every year (Weycker et al., 2005). Those who become infected develop symptoms that can last several days, leading to bed rest, school/work loss, and increased physician visits. Mortality rates due to influenza infection have been estimated to exceed 36,000 each year, and the annual economic impact of influenza in the United States has been estimated between $11 and $18 billion dollars (Davis, King, Moag, Cummings, & Magder, 2008).
