Recent research shows that scientific skills related to the learning of children (including self-regulation and social skills) are starting early school years. For promotion STEM lessons to pre-primary students teachers need professional development and resources as Scientix project offered.

Webinar Presentation RRI : A challenge for science educationPanagiota Argiri
Secondary education faced the challenge of integrating Responsible, Research & Innovation (RRI). Engaging students and teachers in reflecting on the role of research & innovation (R&I) fosters sustainable interactions among schools, researchers, industry and civil society organizations – both in formal and informal learning.
Ιn which ways teachers can (a) support RRI principles in teaching and learning activities; (b) develop multidisciplinary and stronger student engagement as well as student acquisition of critical thinking and collaborative learning skills; (c) prepare students to make informed and evidence-based choices about society’s future.
The basic aim of this webinar is to present projects, resources and guidance included in Scientix repository (www.scientix.eu/) that teachers could use –free of charge– on using more RRI in their school community environment. Also, teachers informed for professional development opportunities for becoming more RRI.

Scientix conference in Greece 4.9 Workshop for Career Education to STEMPanagiota Argiri
Summary
The current anxiety about the importance of the STEM sector in the rapidly evolving society, as well as the need for skilled staff stemming from the so-called 'skills gap', make the role of the school crucial and decisive for the mobilization and orientation of the young people in STEM science careers. A brief overview from the international literature highlights the need for collaboration and connection between the secondary education and workplaces. In the first part of the workshop will be presented not only the innovative actions and the focus area of European Schoolnet , but also the recourses and projects of Scientix that support the educational community to prepare young people for STEM careers. In particular, will be presented very important initiatives Professional Go Back at School and Teacher Placements, which has developed by STEM Alliance to strengthen the co-operation between industry and schools. In addition, these initiatives are framed by the presentation of the results of STEM career events with the presence of professionals in the schools, as well as providing guidance to teachers, parents and business based on booklets and guides and on the digital tool (www.stemalliance.eu/pgbs_tool) to set up community partnerships for STEM counseling careers. In the second part of the workshop, appropriate structured questionnaires will be completed by the participants, with the main goal the syntax of methodological school plan strategies for the creation of STEM career guidance scenarios.
Webinar: Developing and Evaluating Skills for Creativity and Innovation Panagiota Argiri
An overview of the current supply and demand state for tertiary STEM graduates, in EU Member States, calls on governments and social partners to strengthen the linkages between education systems and the world of work. The purpose of this webinar is to present a review of initiatives of European co-funded projects (included in Scientix repository), with a set of guidelines and methodological tools, that aim to help to decrease the mismatch between education and labor market.
In particular, the framework and the outputs of the European project DESCI will be presented in the webinar.
The webinar analyzes the DESCI TOOLKITS and METHODOLOGIES that were developed based on the Living Lab approach, adopting participatory design methodologies, connecting school, enterprise, research and territory.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
