Nuclear fission is a process that uses uranium as an energy source. Uranium undergoes fission which releases massive amounts of energy. This energy is then converted to electricity through pressurized water reactors. Some advantages of nuclear energy are its ability to produce large amounts of energy from little fuel, and that it does not release greenhouse gases. However, disadvantages include the high costs of building nuclear plants, radioactive waste storage issues, and risks of nuclear weapons proliferation.
