2. WHAT IS LIFE CYCLE?
•Life cycle is a period or stages of change where
an organism goes through its life. Part of the life
cycle of an organism is called metamorphosis.
Metamorphosis refers to the way insects
develop, grow, and change form, usually (but
not always) accompanied by change of habitat
or behavior.
•There are two types of metamorphosis:
complete and gradual metamorphosis.

A. Complete metamorphosis
An organism undergoes four stages of
development.
Examples are mosquito, beetle, butterfly and
fly.

young bird, snake, frog,
insects, etc. is born.

an egg but do not look an adult.
Examples of this is the larvae of a

The third stage of development of
an organism. A stage of
development between larva and
adult. It is where a larva make
cocoon around themselves and
become busy changing into their
adult forms. They do not eat this
time.

The final stage. It is the
larvae exist from the
cocoon as an adult.
This time life cycle
starts over again.

The nymph stops molting
as they have grown to an
adult size.
The only stage of an insect’s
life when it has wings. Their
primary interest is mating
and then life cycle starts all
