Persuasive Speech About Food
Were you ever once in middle school, and just wanted to do dumb things with your childhood friends?
Doing it to the extreme may have been exclusive to just my group of friends, but I can promise our
friendships will last for the rest of our lives. I remember we would all stay the night at someone s
house. Then we would go to bed at an incredibly late time, and we would wake up at six in the
morning to bike to a taco shop. This wasn t just an ordinary taco shop, it was an authentic Gas Station
Taqueria. It sounds so stupid, which it was, but for some reason doing things like riding bikes to get
tacos just brought me and my best friends closer together.
Going to the taco shop eventually became a tradition of ours, and like National Geographic claims
National Geographic quotes To break bread together a phrase as old as the bible, captures the a power
of a meal to forge relationship . I think that food in general, but more specifically just sitting down and
eating with people is how you get to know them and develop a relationship with them. These days
most teenagers just sit on their phones when they go eat with friends, and I feel like that distances us
from our peers, which is the opposite of what eating with people naturally does. These days, eating has
become one of America s favorite pass times and it s thought of as a hobby, oppose to a part of
survival. When you do things you love, which in this case would be eating, with the people you love,
then a very special bond

Four Unifying Principles
UNIFYING PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND MANAGEMENT
ABSTRACT Theories and models of organizational behavior and management continue to increase in
number and complexity. While much of the recent research has not made its way into standard
business textbooks, these textbooks nonetheless offer a broad array of topics and concepts that can
easily overwhelm both student and practitioner. No common thread appears to link these disparate
topics, despite the fact that variations on the same theory often can be found across topics. This paper
describes four underlying principles of organizational behavior and management that distill and
synthesize essential features of many of the established theories and models. Each principle ... Show

The concepts related to each principle can be viewed, alternatively, as dichotomous (a choice among
opposites), continuous (a point along a continuum), or paradoxical (a contradiction or dialectic to be
resolved), and applied in combination to interpret and circumscribe specific theories. Finally, the
implications of these underlying principles for teaching management and organizational behavior as
well as for conducting organizational and case analyses are discussed.
THE UNIFYING PRINCIPLES There are four unifying principles presented in this paper, each
principle represented by two contrasting concepts. The principles are briefly described below, and the
application of each principle to organizational behavior and management is illustrated through several
examples. The intent of these examples is to demonstrate the range of applications for each principle,
rather than to provide an exhaustive analysis. (A more complete set of applications is available from
the author.)
INDIVIDUAL VS. COLLECTIVE
Description of the Principle
Perhaps no concepts are more central to our understanding of organizations and management than
those of the individual versus the collective. In a generic sense, the term individual means singular,
solitary, one, alone, separate, while the term collective means many, multiple, together, gathered, joint.
In human terms, these two words represent the

Hospice Is A Good Option For Them
If a patient does not have the ability to exercise the right to die, hospice is a really good option for
them to control the pain and pass peacefully. Hospice care is specialized care designed to provide
support to a person and their loved ones during an advanced illness, it focuses on comfort and quality
of life rather than a cure. (Hospice, 2015) Hospice is really the only option for people who live in
states that do not support the right to die; it strives to give the patient the highest possible quality of
life and make them comfortable, so they can live their final days to the fullest. Hospice is offered in
the home, in long term care facilities, and hospice will do about anything to keep the patient
comfortable. They help prepare their patients and their families for the approaching death, and they
offer bereavement services to the family after the death for up to three months. Hospice is a great
resource for people who are ready to stop fighting and be comfortable, but it still does not provide the
freedom that the right to die laws can, like allowing people to make their own choices about their life.
Right to die laws are state mandated in only four states: Oregon, California, Washington, and Vermont.
State mandated means that if a person meets the requirements to exercise their right to die, and he can
find a physician that will write their prescription, he is free to do as he pleases. In Montana, right to
die is mandated by court ruling, which means you must go to

Preparing Azo Dyes Using Combinatorial Methods For The...
The purpose of this experiment was to prepare azo dyes using the combinatorial approach to show the
principles combinatorial chemistry. Using combinatorial synthesis, an array of chemicals can be
synthesized by using a parallel synthesis to identify potentially valuable compounds. This electrophilic
aromatic substitution reaction involved multiple steps to complete, however, no major techniques were
used; only the use of a hot place and an ice bath. The specific azo dyes produced in this experiment
used the coupling partners 1 naphthol and 2 naphthol with 3 aminobenzenesulfonic acid. The azo dye
for the meta reaction of 1 naphthol with 3 aminobenzenesulfonic acid yielded a very dark red color.

Less energy is required to raise the energy levels of aromatic azo compounds with less conjugation
and therefor, less high energy waves are absorbed and the dye appears increasingly blue/black.
Figure 1: Conjugation levels of various common aromatic azo compounds. As a class, we were able to
compare and contrast the colors of the aromatic azo compounds from several different coupling
partners as well as different substitution patterns for each (i.e. ortho, para, meta). This type of
synthesizing molecules to create an array of potentially useful compounds is known as combinational
chemistry. In combinatorial synthesis, when using a compound with multiple points of diversity, or R
groups which can be substituted, a substantial number of possible structures can be found depending
on the number of substituents utilized. Laboratories can use automated technologies to perform these
types of reactions on an industrial scale but scientists can also utilize these methods to synthesize and
compare a select few molecules [2]. More specifically, the type of combinatorial synthesis utilized by
our lab is known as parallel synthesis . In parallel synthesis, a number of reactants are available to
react individually with a number of substrates which produces a substantial number of unique and
potentially useful compounds. One way of organizing the information about these reactions is to
create a table with the reactants

The Authoritarian Style Of Parenting Essay
Introduction In the early 1960s, psychologist Diana Baumrid conducted a research, analyzing child
parent behavior, seeking to identify parenting styles. The Baumrid study and other further studies
identified four main styles of parenting (Miller, 2010): the authoritative parenting style was
characterized by fair rules and consequences; The Authoritarian parenting style was characterized by
strict rules and harsh punishment; the permissive parenting style was characterized by minimal rules
with little or no consequences; the uninvolved parenting style was characterized by no rules, and
parent presence was almost non existent. In this paper, I m going to look at the authoritarian style of
parenting in an attempt to draw out its characteristics and its immediate and later impacts on children
impact. The Authoritarian parenting Style The primary focal point of the authoritarian style is on
respect rather than parent child relationships. Authoritarian parents are known for being strict. They
lay out rules and expect their children to follow them without question, even if the child has a valid
reason for questioning a decision. They establish many rules for the household and leave little or no
room for negotiation on policies. Authoritarian parents also fail to explain why the rules exist because
they believe that, as the parent, they are the authority on all decisions and shouldn t be questioned.
Penalty is an important element to authoritarian parents. Discipline is not gentle

Tolstoy s Perspective on Women s Rights as Depicted in...
Vengeance is mine; I will repay, states the darkly foretelling epigraph of Leo Tolstoy s famous novel
Anna Karenina. Throughout the work, the author seems torn between feminist and misogynist
sympathies, leading one to wonder if the above quote is directed at the adulterous Anna the only
character in the novel who pays for her transgressions with her life. At first, Tolstoy seems to
sympathize with Anna, contrasting her situation with that of her brother Stiva, who has also committed
adultery but received no social chastisement. But by the end of the novel it s almost as though the
author feels he has allowed Anna to get away with too much, and must teach the reader a lesson about
such behavior from a woman. Anna s last mention in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything about her was enchanting, muses Kitty, but there was something terrible and cruel in her
charm (97). Anna has not yet strayed from her marriage, but apparently the mere thought of it is
enough to transform her from loving and attentive to cruel and heartless.
Naturally, Anna and Vronsky begin to have an affair, which Alexis Karenin, Anna s husband,
discovers. Our lives are bound together not by men but by God. This bond can only be broken by a
crime, and that kind of crime brings its punishment, he warns her (173), in an allusion back to the
novel s epigraph and a foreshadowing of Anna s eventual fate. They agree to live together as though
nothing were wrong in order to keep up appearances, but after a time Anna demands divorce and
Karenin consents on the grounds that Anna give up all rights to their son Serezha. She cannot bring
herself to do this, and they live as before for a time until Anna gives birth to a daughter fathered by
Vronsky. The birth is a difficult one, and Anna is convinced she will die in labor. She does in fact live,
but the doctor tells her she will never bear more children. Seemingly, Tolstoy intends sterility to be
Anna s punishment for having flouted societal norms.
Vronsky and Anna flee to Italy in an attempt to live a more normal life. After some time there, it
becomes quite apparent that the Anna we met at the beginning of the story is not the Anna we have
now.

The film, Mom, Why Did You Circumcise Me, the narrator, Michael Schaap, explores the
conversation of MC (male circumcision) within his community. Schaap initiates the discussion by
speaking to the cultural aspects and traditions of why MC may occur as well as the medical
implications and the sometimes involuntary occurrences of the practice. Schaap s clear argument as it
pertains to MC is stated at the beginning of the film. But before we dig into his perspective, let s
understand the types of perspectives presented in the film. The emic perspective is the experiences and
perspectives of people within the culture (natives) while the etic perspective is the limited experience
of an outsider viewing the culture. The many emic perspectives from the circumcised men Schaap
interviews and himself present themselves within the film; however, I will focus on the emic
perspectives of the Muslim convert, Abdulwahid van Bommel, and the Jewish Man, Leo Mock.
Bommel states that nowhere in the Koran was MC mentioned, but that it derives from the people who
teach the Koran focusing on the verse of Ibraheem and compares MC to upkeep of the body
(compared to cutting hair and nails) for hygiene s sake. Bommel states he was circumcised at age 23
and it felt like an initiation ritual and now [he] had become a real Muslim . Through this emic
perspective, the scope of the cultural significance behind the practice of MC is implicated. It signifies
manhood, it signifies being a part of

In every space mission, communication is one of the most important part but there is not so many
people put their focus on it. I would like to write my fiction depend on the communication between
people on the Earth and people in the space. My story is happened in 22nd century and people have a
developed technology to send the robots to the very far planets. At a different galaxy, aliens find our
robots are sending signal back to the satellite around the Earth. They change the signal and begin to
communicate with the people on the Earth by our space communication function of the robots or the

Life Lessons From Little League
In his autobiography Life Lessons from Little League, Vincent Fortanasce says Winning is never final,
and losing is never fatal. At the end of a game, one team will win and the other will lose. Failure to
accept this concept has become detrimental to American youth sports organizations. Our society has
become infatuated with winning, and all of the additional perks associated with it. What is considered
the best for children as young as five years old has grown to an unrealistic extent. Parents want their
children to be in a reputable organization, young athletes want to play with highly skilled teammates,
and coaches want to recruit talented players all in hopes of being the absolute best . The amount of
young athletes, ranging from five to fourteen years old, participating in local sports organizations has
declined within the last two decades due to the highly competitive and unhealthy environments they
are being exposed to.Taking pride in your local community has decreased form an athletic point of
view. Representing the place I grew up in was a motivating factor when I put my uniform on for every
single softball game I played in high school. I had the privilege to play on the field next to girls I had
grown to love the sport with ever since our tee ball days. Today, young athletes are branching out from
their homegrown roots to play for club teams who recruit players from a larger region. The popularity
of traveling teams has substantially diluted the

entitled to govern the individual in the way of compulsion in control. Mill discusses the Harm
Principle, The tyranny of the majority, freedom of speech and how liberty is a driver of progress to
make his assertion. However, there are many criticisms of his argument due to the fact harm is not
defined and that it is extremely ambiguous.
Mill s essay On Liberty argues that the only reason power can be exercised over an individual is if it s
preventing harm to another being, he labels this the harm principle. The harm principle explains that a

Mill discusses that in ancient times liberty was outlined as protection against the tyranny of political
rulers. However, he supported the new self government and the giving people power over themselves.
He feared though that when people governed themselves power tended to lie in those who were
accepted by the majority or in people who made themselves accepted by the majority and individual
ideas were overruled, leading to tyranny by the majority. He discusses that Wherever there is an
ascendant class, a large portion of the morality of the country emanates from its class interests. Mill
believed when the majority learns to feel the power of their government, their individual liberty will
be exposed to invasion of the government. The essay describes the fact that a majority can practice a
social tyranny that can be far more oppressive than many kinds of political oppression. However, Mill
sees that utility, the greatest good for the greatest number is important in keeping a stable society. He
saw though that a tyranny of the majority can cause individual opinions to be quietened and stop
eccentricity for the individual. Thus, Mill places forward the idea that a when society ruled by a

The Impact Of Computer Animation On The Entertainment...
EE Computer Animation From the very beginning of animation, artists created images on paper of two
dimensional animated characters. As time progressed, computers became an integral part of people s
lives. Technological advancements have allowed animators to use programs online that would turn a
two dimensional animated character or object into a three dimensional format. This made it easier for
animators to create whatever they wanted. Without the hassle of paper, these people had a variety of
tools to aid their creation. The impact of computer animation on the various entertainment industries
can be seen from the evolution through the years dealing with television and movies. The impact of
computer animation of the entertainment industry is shown through the evolution of movies dating
back from 1908 to movies today involving Computer Generated Images (CGI) programs, such as
Pixar Animation, through the use of various software programs, special props, and scenery. Animation
production created in modern day, such as video games, movies, computer software applications, and
television shows, requires various processes. Through the use of multiple computer assisted programs,
such as Autodesk Maya, animated visual effects are created more efficiently concerning more complex
3D models then from past archaic methods. Maya is an example of a software program that has been

these wild fires to give the wines smoky characteristics. Given the popularity of this flavor in North

Each employee could be expected to generate $1,000,000 in sales.
The following rule is the basis for comparison between the two and the unknown variables can be
grouped using general arithmetic:
Cost of sales reps = Cost of own office
No.of employees * 10% of gross sales = Cost of set up amp; ongoing communication + No. of
employees * (Employee Base Salary + 5% of gross sales)
No. of employees * (0.10 * Selling Price * Volume of sales) = $100000 + No. of employees * ($25000
+ 0.05 * Selling Price * Volume of Sales)
$100000 + No. of employees * $25000 = No. of employees * Volume of sales * Selling Price * (0.10
0.05)
$2,000,000 + No. of employees * $500,000 = No. of employees * Volume of sales * Selling Price
Indifference point occurs when both sides are equal. As the figures used are annual, the ratio of LHS
to RHS * 1 year will determine the amount of time it takes for costs with sales representative to match
a sales office. The longer this takes, the more justifiable it is to run with option 1. As there are a
number of variables NLW should first research current and future demand which will provide a good
indication of turnover. Sales representatives can be kept to a minimum of 1 rep

The Early Years Of The American Civil War
The study of the early years of the America republic has not received the same attention from
historians, as have many other periods of American history. In fact, only slavery and sectionalism, the
leading causes of the American Civil War, have been consistently covered in much of the historical
study of the first half of the nineteenth century. This became quite obvious with the readings that I
spent time with this semester. Many were somewhat long in the tooth, yet still remained standard
bearers for their topic, as further study has been sporadic or nearly nonexistent. This seems especially
true of the studies that attempt to bring together the various elements in a manner that creates a big
picture of the time period. Regional or social histories have dominated this period in the last twenty
years and perhaps it is time for a new attempt at integrating the various pieces of the puzzle into a
coherent picture. This is not to dismiss the people and groups that make the story, but to put their story
back into a greater context. The numerous books I read, when pieced together, accomplish this to
some degree, but this manner is incomplete, as it does not, nor were the majority of the authors
intending too, create a complete picture of what America was like in the early nineteenth century. The
first historian to attempt an overarching theme of the west was Frederick Jackson Turner in his
Significance of the Frontier in American History. For years, Turner s vision was

When I Am A Wild Reader Analysis
I have never been asked what kind of reader I am before so I had to spend some time thinking about
that question before I started writing this paper. After evaluating what a wild reader is I can say for
myself that I do believe I am a wild reader. For example, when I read, I read a wide variety of books
that hop from genre to genre. One week I could be reading a sci fi novel, and the next I could be
reading a work about psychology. I am a straightforward reader, in the fact that if I don t like a book or
the style that something is written, I will express the way I feel towards it. As a matter of a fact, I m
very analytical with what I read. I like to analyze things and point out whatever might be wrong with a

This book was an immense challenge to get through. From the get go, I found the main character,
Wade Watts, obnoxious and a bit pretentious. For example, Wade was having a conversation with
Nolan Sorrento, an official of Innovative Online Industries, and he said Do you mind skipping the
scare tactics and the head games? Just tell me the details of your offer. I have other matters to attend
to. (page 137), which I thought was pretty obnoxious. I found myself cringing at a lot of the dialogue

The Importance Of Technology In The Organization
The world we live in today is more complicated, competitive and technologically advanced, and there
is always a demand for resource and if the existing resources are not utilized properly it leads to poor
results. Technology is a component that can be used for the productive use of resources. But
employees in the organization often resist adapting to technology. Introducing new technology and
tools into an organization can increase productivity, boost sales, and help you make better, quicker
decisions however getting every employee adjust to the change in technology is often a challenge.
Organization very constantly face the challenge of adapting themselves to the technology and it
depends on its employees to overcome the change and employees need the stimulation to adapt to the
change and this reminds me of a famous quote You can t build an adaptable organization without
adaptable people and individuals change only when they have to, or when they want to (Gary Hamel).
As per Gary Hamel individuals only change when they have to or when they want to and Motivation
is a factor that can drive individuals to change or adapt to technology. Motivation is the key ingredient
to bring about a change in the employees which can lead to the success of an organization.
Organizations even though they have all the technical skills, will not be successful if they are not able
to motivate their team to take up change. The manager or leader or the organization should have the

Example Of A Worldview Essay
A worldview is a set of basic beliefs about the nature of reality. It affects the way a person behaves
and responds to different circumstances. When young, our worldview is influenced by parents, who
tell us what is right and wrong. However, as we grew up, our life experiences come to shape
worldviews that we hold as adults. As scientists, our worldviews matter a great deal. Whether theist or
atheist, it is critical to know what we consider to be our responsibility towards everyone and
everything around us. In this paper, I talk about views of a number of scientists about God and
creation and the impact of these beliefs on their approach to science. In addition, we will look at
different natural phenomena and what they tell us about the Intelligence design behind them. I will

Marijuana is usually smoked through joints, which are hand rolled, but can be smoked out of a bong,
or pipe. The edible products are mostly made from weed butter and is then mixed with cookie dough,
brownie mix, or cake batter. So why do so many people think it is bad for us? That s because the THC
is what makes the Marijuana addictive . THC increases the level of dopamine, which is the pleasure
chemical, in the brain. Therefore, people who smoke a lot have a higher chance of becoming
dependant on the use of cannabis and then this dependency can turn into an addiction.
Possibility of addiction is only one of the disadvantages on Marijuana. There are short term and long

international communities surrounding the concepts of cultural globalization.
Cultural imperialism also referred to, as Americanization, or westernization, is a homogenization that
critics insist the mass media is to be blamed for. The cultural imperialism debate becomes highly
important shortly after the decolonozation begins to produce dozens of new states in Africa, Asia, and
the Pacific (Lechner and Boli: 287). Hence, with the formations of new states, come the births of new

Deviance Is A Existence Of Social Deviance In Society
Everyone once in a lifetime breaks a social norm, or shows some kind of act of deviance. Deviance is
a violation of social norms, it can be relative. Most of the time, what is deviant to some people is not
deviant to others. Howard Becker explained that deviance is not the act itself, but the reactions to the
act. For example, praying at a party; nothing is wrong with praying, but people will look at you like
you are crazy because you usually don t see anybody praying at a party, this is violating a social norm.
Social norms are the rules of behavior that are considered acceptable in a group or society. People who
do not follow these norms may be shunned or suffer some kind of consequence. Therefore, this relates
back to the example praying at a party, people may not talk to you because you are praying at a party;
this is a consequence of violating the social norm. The mild social norms I violated were, not holding
the door for the people behind me, being quiet around close friends, and asking my parents for
permission to do everything. Most of the time I usually hold the door for people behind me, but for the
experiment I didn t hold the door for others. I always hated when people didn t hold the door for me
when I am behind them. Therefore, I knew how some people would react to my behavior. When I got
to school one morning, as I was opening the door I saw my principle behind me, so I decided to do the
experiment on her; I waited till she got behind me to open the door. As I went through the door, I didn
t hold the door for her, I quickly looked at her facial expression, and she wasn t very pleased. This
experiment made feel bad because I usually hold the door for others. I realized that our society really
care about this norm because of her reaction to me. I m always a talkative, outgoing, fun, and loud
kind of person. So not talking around my close friends was really hard to do. As I was doing this
experiment, I observed my friends reactions. They were talking about different things, I never engaged
in the conversation. Then they started asking me, Are you okay Tania? , Is something wrong? , and Is
you mad at us? Once again, I am a very outgoing, fun, and loud person, so not talking around them

Human Nature And The Mind
Human Nature and The Mind Human nature and the mind have been studied for ages. As humans, we
tend to think, feel, and act in certain ways that are often elucidated by nature and evolution. In fields
such as Psychology, Philosophy, and Science, human nature and the mind have been extensively
studied to develop theories about why humans act, think, and feel that way that we do. It is believed
by some that humans are born a certain way by nature. There are three ways that people tend to
believe humans are born: naturally good, naturally evil, or neutral. A Chinese philosopher named
Mencius is an example of someone who believed that humans are born naturally good. Mencius is
believed to be the most important figure in the development of Confucianism, right after Confucius
himself. Mencius wrote Man s Nature Is Good in the year Circa 300 BCE. This rhetorical piece argues
Mencius s views on the nature of man. Mencius not only believed that humans were born naturally
good, but also that they, ...with proper training, could become perfect (Austin 78). A Chinese scholar
named Hsun Tzu believed almost the exact opposite of Mencius. Although Hsun Tzu was a Confucian
similarly to Mencius, he did not share the belief that humans are born naturally good. Tzu actually
wrote a piece titled Man s Nature Is Evil in which he explains his argument. Tzu believed that humans
need structure, and that ...strict discipline could make human beings good despite their natural
inclinations

Slide 3: The distribution of authority and decision making differs between the opera and the

Ms. Ewers makes most of the financial and fund raising decisions, as evidenced by her ability to
increase the Opera s annual budget from $1.5 million to $5 million. Subordinates have some decision
making authority within their respective roles. For instance, below Ms. Ewers is the Director of
Operations, who is responsible for overseeing and leading numerous department directors. These
department directors are in charge of the smaller units and have some decision making power and
authority. Ms. Ewers designated such duties as the technical and artistic facets of opera production,

empowered with some authority and decision making. The hierarchy of power eventually leads back

Analysis of the Success of Cultural Change Within British...
1.1INTRODUCTION
British Airways came into existence in 1935, when smaller privately owned UK airlines merged.
Another change occurred when the Government nationalised British Airways and Imperial Airways to
form BOAC The British Overseas Airways Corporation.
During this period, external markets were more stable and predictable and there was no real need for
BA to adopt competitive strategies, being that there was little competition from rivals. There appears
to be little in the way of strategy formulation and strategy implementation. This was mainly due to the
established strategy and organisation environment remaining largely unchanged. Any change in BA s

1.3 CORPORATE CULTURE DEFINED
Management researchers seem to agree that the things that companies do called corporate culture is an
intangible concept and hence difficult to define. Among the attempts to define corporate culture , the
following definition is useful as a starting point: culture represents an interdependent set of values and
ways of behaving that are common in a community and that tend to perpetuate themselves, sometimes
over long periods of time (Kotter and Heskett,1992,141) Peters and Watermann argue that changing a
culture cannot be accomplished.
1.4 CHANGES WITH BA DUE TO EXTERNAL PRESSURES
The story of British Airways is one of the most widely used inspirational accounts of changing culture
(Heller 1992). BA faced two external pressures. The Thatcher government was threatening to privatise
it and also the deregulation of the industry worldwide. Within Lundberg s model of the organisational
learning cycle, he suggests that in order for cultural change to occur the requisite external and internal
circumstances must occur. He describes the two external enabling conditions. These are known as
domain forgiveness the degree of threat due to instability of the environment and

The Original Riot Grrrls By Elizabeth Cady Stanton
The Original Riot Grrrls The 19th Amendment guarantees a vote for women in the United States of
America, but how did this constitutional change happen? Many females prior to this accomplishment
faced struggles from external forces that denied their rights and capabilities. Feminism and equal
rights were and still are prominent in American society. In order to provide women of the future what
is rightfully theirs, women during the 1700s have taken control of their opinions and used their strong
will to make the necessary changes in American society. During the Seneca Falls Convention,
Elizabeth Cady Stanton exclaimed in her address, The right is ours. The question now is: how shall we
get possession of what rightfully belongs to us, (Stanton). The leaders, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and
Lucretia Mott of the Seneca Falls Convention, along with other female leaders, displayed civil
disobedience, provided powerful lectures, and organized conventions that gave a new perspective on
gender equality.
Women s rights in America have been a major concern ever since the thirteen colonies sought their
independence from Great Britain. Abigail Adams embodied an important role in women s property
and equal education rights. Abigail Adams, was married to John Adams, a founding father and major

Essay about Egt1 Task 1
Marginal Analysis
Economics amp; Global Business Applications, EGT 1, Task 1
A. Explanation of profit maximization
The total revenue, TR, is the overall amount of all sources of a business s income. It consists of total
sales or profit, over a period of time. The TR can be calculated by taking the price and multiplying it
by the quantity. For example, if a business decides to retail another product and the total revenue does
increase, thus the marginal revenue would be greater than zero. However, if the business decides to
sell another product and the marginal revenue is zero, then there would not be any changes to the total
revenue.
To determine profit maximization, using the Total Revenue to Total Cost approach, consider the ...

This increase in widgets will provide Company A with a MR of $140 dollars per widget. In addition,
applying the same formula to the maximum of 15 widgets produced ($1200 150/15) also results in a
MR of $70 per widget. In the provided scenario, Company A has experienced decreasing MR for
every one more widget they produce.
C. Calculation used to determine Marginal Cost
In comparison, the marginal cost is the added cost of producing one more unit of output. It is
determined by the change in total cost (TC) divided by the change in output (Q). MC= TC/Q. In the
provided scenario, for Company A to produce one widget TC=$30, to produce two widgets TC=$50
thus the marginal cost was $20; furthermore the cost per widget to produce was $25. Marginal cost
will continue to decrease for Company A until they reach their profit maximization of $42.86 per
widget at 7 widgets. Marginal cost will then begin to decrease for every additional widget produced
until the end result of 15 widgets with a MC that exceeds $80, also allowing TC to topple to TR
($1220/15=$81.33).
D. Company A profit maximization Quantity | Total Revenue | Total Cost | 7 | $840 | $300 |
Company A reaches its greatest profit maximization with a Quantity of 8 because the total revenue is
at the greatest distance from total cost. (TFC+TVC=TC); Price x Quantity = TR; Price =$115

  • 2. Persuasive Speech About Food Were you ever once in middle school, and just wanted to do dumb things with your childhood friends? Doing it to the extreme may have been exclusive to just my group of friends, but I can promise our friendships will last for the rest of our lives. I remember we would all stay the night at someone s house. Then we would go to bed at an incredibly late time, and we would wake up at six in the morning to bike to a taco shop. This wasn t just an ordinary taco shop, it was an authentic Gas Station Taqueria. It sounds so stupid, which it was, but for some reason doing things like riding bikes to get tacos just brought me and my best friends closer together. Going to the taco shop eventually became a tradition of ours, and like National Geographic claims National Geographic quotes To break bread together a phrase as old as the bible, captures the a power of a meal to forge relationship . I think that food in general, but more specifically just sitting down and eating with people is how you get to know them and develop a relationship with them. These days most teenagers just sit on their phones when they go eat with friends, and I feel like that distances us from our peers, which is the opposite of what eating with people naturally does. These days, eating has become one of America s favorite pass times and it s thought of as a hobby, oppose to a part of survival. • 3. Four Unifying Principles UNIFYING PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR AND MANAGEMENT ABSTRACT Theories and models of organizational behavior and management continue to increase in number and complexity. While much of the recent research has not made its way into standard business textbooks, these textbooks nonetheless offer a broad array of topics and concepts that can easily overwhelm both student and practitioner. No common thread appears to link these disparate topics, despite the fact that variations on the same theory often can be found across topics. This paper describes four underlying principles of organizational behavior and management that distill and synthesize essential features of many of the established theories and models. Each principle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The concepts related to each principle can be viewed, alternatively, as dichotomous (a choice among opposites), continuous (a point along a continuum), or paradoxical (a contradiction or dialectic to be resolved), and applied in combination to interpret and circumscribe specific theories. Finally, the implications of these underlying principles for teaching management and organizational behavior as well as for conducting organizational and case analyses are discussed. THE UNIFYING PRINCIPLES There are four unifying principles presented in this paper, each principle represented by two contrasting concepts. The principles are briefly described below, and the application of each principle to organizational behavior and management is illustrated through several examples. The intent of these examples is to demonstrate the range of applications for each principle, rather than to provide an exhaustive analysis. (A more complete set of applications is available from the author.) INDIVIDUAL VS. COLLECTIVE Description of the Principle Perhaps no concepts are more central to our understanding of organizations and management than those of the individual versus the collective. In a generic sense, the term individual means singular, solitary, one, alone, separate, while the term collective means many, multiple, together, gathered, joint. In human terms, these two words represent the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Hospice Is A Good Option For Them If a patient does not have the ability to exercise the right to die, hospice is a really good option for them to control the pain and pass peacefully. Hospice care is specialized care designed to provide support to a person and their loved ones during an advanced illness, it focuses on comfort and quality of life rather than a cure. (Hospice, 2015) Hospice is really the only option for people who live in states that do not support the right to die; it strives to give the patient the highest possible quality of life and make them comfortable, so they can live their final days to the fullest. Hospice is offered in the home, in long term care facilities, and hospice will do about anything to keep the patient comfortable. They help prepare their patients and their families for the approaching death, and they offer bereavement services to the family after the death for up to three months. Hospice is a great resource for people who are ready to stop fighting and be comfortable, but it still does not provide the freedom that the right to die laws can, like allowing people to make their own choices about their life. Right to die laws are state mandated in only four states: Oregon, California, Washington, and Vermont. State mandated means that if a person meets the requirements to exercise their right to die, and he can find a physician that will write their prescription, he is free to do as he pleases. In Montana, right to die is mandated by court ruling, which means you must go to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Preparing Azo Dyes Using Combinatorial Methods For The... The purpose of this experiment was to prepare azo dyes using the combinatorial approach to show the principles combinatorial chemistry. Using combinatorial synthesis, an array of chemicals can be synthesized by using a parallel synthesis to identify potentially valuable compounds. This electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction involved multiple steps to complete, however, no major techniques were used; only the use of a hot place and an ice bath. The specific azo dyes produced in this experiment used the coupling partners 1 naphthol and 2 naphthol with 3 aminobenzenesulfonic acid. The azo dye for the meta reaction of 1 naphthol with 3 aminobenzenesulfonic acid yielded a very dark red color. The azo dye for the meta reaction of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of synthesizing molecules to create an array of potentially useful compounds is known as combinational chemistry. In combinatorial synthesis, when using a compound with multiple points of diversity, or R groups which can be substituted, a substantial number of possible structures can be found depending on the number of substituents utilized. Laboratories can use automated technologies to perform these types of reactions on an industrial scale but scientists can also utilize these methods to synthesize and compare a select few molecules [2]. More specifically, the type of combinatorial synthesis utilized by our lab is known as parallel synthesis . In parallel synthesis, a number of reactants are available to react individually with a number of substrates which produces a substantial number of unique and potentially useful compounds. • 6. The Authoritarian Style Of Parenting Essay Introduction In the early 1960s, psychologist Diana Baumrid conducted a research, analyzing child parent behavior, seeking to identify parenting styles. The Baumrid study and other further studies identified four main styles of parenting (Miller, 2010): the authoritative parenting style was characterized by fair rules and consequences; The Authoritarian parenting style was characterized by strict rules and harsh punishment; the permissive parenting style was characterized by minimal rules with little or no consequences; the uninvolved parenting style was characterized by no rules, and parent presence was almost non existent. In this paper, I m going to look at the authoritarian style of parenting in an attempt to draw out its characteristics and its immediate and later impacts on children impact. The Authoritarian parenting Style The primary focal point of the authoritarian style is on respect rather than parent child relationships. Authoritarian parents are known for being strict. They lay out rules and expect their children to follow them without question, even if the child has a valid reason for questioning a decision. They establish many rules for the household and leave little or no room for negotiation on policies. Authoritarian parents also fail to explain why the rules exist because they believe that, as the parent, they are the authority on all decisions and shouldn t be questioned. Penalty is an important element to authoritarian parents. Discipline is not gentle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Tolstoy s Perspective on Women s Rights as Depicted in... Vengeance is mine; I will repay, states the darkly foretelling epigraph of Leo Tolstoy s famous novel Anna Karenina. Throughout the work, the author seems torn between feminist and misogynist sympathies, leading one to wonder if the above quote is directed at the adulterous Anna the only character in the novel who pays for her transgressions with her life. At first, Tolstoy seems to sympathize with Anna, contrasting her situation with that of her brother Stiva, who has also committed adultery but received no social chastisement. But by the end of the novel it s almost as though the author feels he has allowed Anna to get away with too much, and must teach the reader a lesson about such behavior from a woman. Anna has not yet strayed from her marriage, but apparently the mere thought of it is enough to transform her from loving and attentive to cruel and heartless. Naturally, Anna and Vronsky begin to have an affair, which Alexis Karenin, Anna s husband, discovers. Our lives are bound together not by men but by God. This bond can only be broken by a crime, and that kind of crime brings its punishment, he warns her (173), in an allusion back to the novel s epigraph and a foreshadowing of Anna s eventual fate. They agree to live together as though nothing were wrong in order to keep up appearances, but after a time Anna demands divorce and Karenin consents on the grounds that Anna give up all rights to their son Serezha. She cannot bring herself to do this, and they live as before for a time until Anna gives birth to a daughter fathered by Vronsky. The birth is a difficult one, and Anna is convinced she will die in labor. She does in fact live, but the doctor tells her she will never bear more children. Seemingly, Tolstoy intends sterility to be Anna s punishment for having flouted societal norms. Vronsky and Anna flee to Italy in an attempt to live a more normal life. After some time there, it becomes quite apparent that the Anna we met at the beginning of the story is not the Anna we have now. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This became quite obvious with the readings that I spent time with this semester. Many were somewhat long in the tooth, yet still remained standard bearers for their topic, as further study has been sporadic or nearly nonexistent. This seems especially true of the studies that attempt to bring together the various elements in a manner that creates a big picture of the time period. Regional or social histories have dominated this period in the last twenty years and perhaps it is time for a new attempt at integrating the various pieces of the puzzle into a coherent picture. This is not to dismiss the people and groups that make the story, but to put their story back into a greater context. The numerous books I read, when pieced together, accomplish this to some degree, but this manner is incomplete, as it does not, nor were the majority of the authors intending too, create a complete picture of what America was like in the early nineteenth century. After evaluating what a wild reader is I can say for myself that I do believe I am a wild reader. For example, when I read, I read a wide variety of books that hop from genre to genre. One week I could be reading a sci fi novel, and the next I could be reading a work about psychology. I am a straightforward reader, in the fact that if I don t like a book or the style that something is written, I will express the way I feel towards it. Just tell me the details of your offer. I have other matters to attend to. (page 137), which I thought was pretty obnoxious. I found myself cringing at a lot of the dialogue and character choices and it also had a very predictable ending. When young, our worldview is influenced by parents, who tell us what is right and wrong. However, as we grew up, our life experiences come to shape worldviews that we hold as adults. As scientists, our worldviews matter a great deal. Whether theist or atheist, it is critical to know what we consider to be our responsibility towards everyone and everything around us. • 32. Deviance Is A Existence Of Social Deviance In Society Everyone once in a lifetime breaks a social norm, or shows some kind of act of deviance. Deviance is a violation of social norms, it can be relative. Most of the time, what is deviant to some people is not deviant to others. Howard Becker explained that deviance is not the act itself, but the reactions to the act. For example, praying at a party; nothing is wrong with praying, but people will look at you like you are crazy because you usually don t see anybody praying at a party, this is violating a social norm. Social norms are the rules of behavior that are considered acceptable in a group or society. People who do not follow these norms may be shunned or suffer some kind of consequence. Therefore, this relates back to the example praying at a party, people may not talk to you because you are praying at a party; this is a consequence of violating the social norm. The mild social norms I violated were, not holding the door for the people behind me, being quiet around close friends, and asking my parents for permission to do everything. Most of the time I usually hold the door for people behind me, but for the experiment I didn t hold the door for others. I always hated when people didn t hold the door for me when I am behind them. Therefore, I knew how some people would react to my behavior. When I got to school one morning, as I was opening the door I saw my principle behind me, so I decided to do the experiment on her; I waited till she got behind me to open the door. As I went through the door, I didn t hold the door for her, I quickly looked at her facial expression, and she wasn t very pleased. This experiment made feel bad because I usually hold the door for others. I realized that our society really care about this norm because of her reaction to me. I m always a talkative, outgoing, fun, and loud kind of person. So not talking around my close friends was really hard to do. As I was doing this experiment, I observed my friends reactions. They were talking about different things, I never engaged in the conversation. Then they started asking me, Are you okay Tania? , Is something wrong? , and Is you mad at us? As humans, we tend to think, feel, and act in certain ways that are often elucidated by nature and evolution. In fields such as Psychology, Philosophy, and Science, human nature and the mind have been extensively studied to develop theories about why humans act, think, and feel that way that we do. It is believed by some that humans are born a certain way by nature. There are three ways that people tend to believe humans are born: naturally good, naturally evil, or neutral. A Chinese philosopher named Mencius is an example of someone who believed that humans are born naturally good. Mencius is believed to be the most important figure in the development of Confucianism, right after Confucius himself. Mencius wrote Man s Nature Is Good in the year Circa 300 BCE. This rhetorical piece argues Mencius s views on the nature of man. Mencius not only believed that humans were born naturally good, but also that they, ...with proper training, could become perfect (Austin 78). A Chinese scholar named Hsun Tzu believed almost the exact opposite of Mencius. Another change occurred when the Government nationalised British Airways and Imperial Airways to form BOAC The British Overseas Airways Corporation. During this period, external markets were more stable and predictable and there was no real need for BA to adopt competitive strategies, being that there was little competition from rivals. There appears to be little in the way of strategy formulation and strategy implementation. This was mainly due to the established strategy and organisation environment remaining largely unchanged. Among the attempts to define corporate culture , the following definition is useful as a starting point: culture represents an interdependent set of values and ways of behaving that are common in a community and that tend to perpetuate themselves, sometimes over long periods of time (Kotter and Heskett,1992,141) Peters and Watermann argue that changing a culture cannot be accomplished. 1.4 CHANGES WITH BA DUE TO EXTERNAL PRESSURES The story of British Airways is one of the most widely used inspirational accounts of changing culture (Heller 1992). BA faced two external pressures. The Thatcher government was threatening to privatise it and also the deregulation of the industry worldwide. The TR can be calculated by taking the price and multiplying it by the quantity. For example, if a business decides to retail another product and the total revenue does increase, thus the marginal revenue would be greater than zero. In the provided scenario, Company A has experienced decreasing MR for every one more widget they produce. C. Calculation used to determine Marginal Cost In comparison, the marginal cost is the added cost of producing one more unit of output. It is determined by the change in total cost (TC) divided by the change in output (Q). MC= TC/Q. In the provided scenario, for Company A to produce one widget TC=$30, to produce two widgets TC=$50 thus the marginal cost was $20; furthermore the cost per widget to produce was $25. Marginal cost will continue to decrease for Company A until they reach their profit maximization of $42.86 per widget at 7 widgets. Marginal cost will then begin to decrease for every additional widget produced until the end result of 15 widgets with a MC that exceeds $80, also allowing TC to topple to TR ($1220/15=$81.33). D. Company A profit maximization Quantity | Total Revenue | Total Cost | 7 | $840 | $300 | Company A reaches its greatest profit maximization with a Quantity of 8 because the total revenue is at the greatest distance from total cost.
