This one-day sensitization workshop organized by the Department of Health and Family Welfare in Patna, Bihar aimed to prepare medical officers for flood preparedness and response. The workshop schedule included sessions on building preparedness culture, identifying health risks of floods, and considering points for planning health responses under different situations. Participants worked in groups to develop preparedness and response plans for their districts and primary health centers for 2011. District-wise presentations of plans were given followed by discussion and feedback. Gaps and areas for improvement were identified along with needed support from the state.
