 E.g. 1 Batman Begins –
  produced, released, becomes a big financial
  success. Next is The Dark Knight – big success, so
  now comes The Dark Knight Rises
 E.g. 2 Robin Hood (TV version) – the series got
  cancelled because the viewing figures weren’t
  high enough
Scary Movie – why bother?

 Baudrillard – a postmodern era – because we
  have media saturated societies
 With media saturation comes an ever more
  sophisticated, active audience – who have
  acquired the cultural capital to make the SM
  series work
 Investing in a Scary Movie film becomes
  worth the risk in a postmodern world
 As Jameson argues, this is the cultural logic
  of late capitalism

Next is The Dark Knight – big success, so now comes The Dark Knight Rises  E.g. 2 Robin Hood (TV version) – the series got cancelled because the viewing figures weren’t high enough

Scary Movie – why bother?  Baudrillard – a postmodern era – because we have media saturated societies  With media saturation comes an ever more sophisticated, active audience – who have acquired the cultural capital to make the SM series work  Investing in a Scary Movie film becomes worth the risk in a postmodern world  As Jameson argues, this is the cultural logic of late capitalism
