3. Sources of Conflict BetweenPalestine and Israel
The conflict between Palestine and Israel stems from disagreements about the land,
differences in the opinions of historical change of boundaries, differences in religion
and also disagreements among international actors that have influenced how the
conflict has played out since the boundaries of Israel were drawn up after World War
II.
This paper will focus on the armed conflict between Palestine, specifically the Hamas
backed Gaza strip and the state of Israel that has led to the loss of many lives on
both sides, while at the same time, created tensions between state actors that make
the idea of this conflict being eventually resolved almost impossible unless there is
some major change in the internal and external environment. The armed conflict
that the paper describes is between Hamas which is viewed as a Islamist terrorist
group by Israel, the United States and several other countries with their ultimate
goal being winning back the land that they claim to be theirs and also turning
Palestine into an Islamic fundamentalist state. On the other hand, the state of Israel
defines itself as a Jewish and Democratic State, with 75% of their population being
Jewish which would make it a Jewish majority state. Israel also governs itself on the
Basic Laws of Israel, which include the Israeli nationality law that in effect grants the
right to all Jewish people the right to return to Israel and automatically be able to
receive Israeli citizenship and establishes Jerusalem as the
4. Analysis Of The Movie The Bedroom With Fill The Gaps...
In 1979, Dubus creates an alternate world, where he propels readers through the
emotional whirlpool spinning in the mind of Matt Fowler, a man who is trying to
cope with the tragic murder of his son; as the tide, acting through his wife, becomes
increasingly overwhelming, Matt is driven to seek revenge through the killing of
Richard Fowler (Dubus 1123 1136). Years later, in 2001, director Todd Field
produces
the film adaptation In the Bedroom to fill the gaps Dubus s short storycannot; while
the story focuses more on the killingsthemselves, Field allows views to understand
the emotional turmoil that pushes characters to the edge, ultimately explaining the
journey of how the killings come to be (In the Bedroom). Although Dubus wrote...

Within the argument, the cinematographer films the scene as a shot reverse shot,
further implying that Matt and Ruth are in conflict. One can see the veil depression
places Ruth after Frank s death, enabling her to ask Matt for the literal unspeakable
task of murder; in a short story, one cannot read silence, but the silence permeating
the film speaks louder than the Dubus s words.
While in neither the film nor short story does Ruth outwardly express her desire for
the death of Richard, within the film, one is able to glimpse into the inner workings
of Matt s mind, understanding the emotional manipulation, brought on by his wife, he
endures. Matt describes how Ruth has concrete objections which he trie[s] to
overcome and in his intent to do this[,] he neglect[s] his own objects (1127); here,
Dubus is indirectly telling readers this is the foundation Ruth has previously built in
her marriage, allowing her to manipulate Matt into carrying out tasks, or specifically
it (1136). Furthermore, several times in the short story, Matt convinces himself that
he [is] certain that [Ruth knows and] she [is] waiting for him for she knows (Dubus
1125, 1134). In Field s adaptation, one can see the change in behavior and demeanor
both Matt and Ruth undergo, driving Matt to commit a seemingly inevitable killing.
Several times in the film, the camera focuses on Matt and then quickly switches to a
smash cut, implying disruption and cacophony follow Matt; however,
5. Studies For The Libyan Sibyl
Studies for the Libyan Sibyl
Studies for the Libyan Sibyl (1510 11) by Michelangelo Buonarroti is the study of
male anatomy and is a characteristic example of Michelangelo s late
draughtsmanship, and a preparatory sketch for one of the female seers frescoed
Libyan figure Sibyl, painted on the Sistine Chapel Ceiling (1508 1512) Rome,
Vaticana Palace. MichelangeloBuonarroti (Italian, Caprese 1475 1564 Rome) was a
painter, sculptor, architect, poet, engineer as well as a compulsive drawer, of the
High Italian Renaissance era, who exerted an unparalleled influence on the
development of Western art. Michelangelo was once quoted saying Design, which by
another name is called drawing is the font and body of painting and sculpture and
architecture and every other kind of painting and the root of all sciences
(Michelangelo And The Mastery Of Drawing). Michelangelo s purpose for Studies
for the Libyan Sibyl was not to create a finished piece to please the public or even a
person. Studies for the Libyan Sibyl is a 28.9 x 21.4 cm nude Italian Renaissance
piece he has distilled both the linear and tonal essence of the form. Drawn with red
and white chalk and possibly soft black chalk, or less probably charcoal on paper.
The reason Michelangelo drew Studies for the Libyan Sibyl was his way of learning
and understanding the elements that were crucial to the elegant resolution of the
figure s pose, especially the counterpoint twist of the shoulders and hips and the

7. Red Terror Controversy
The Ethiopian Red Terror or Qey Shibir occurred between 1977 and 1978. It was a
violent period of bloodshed, torture and mass murders of Ethiopians from all walks
of life, language groups, genders, ages and professions. The Red Terror took place
in a time where Ethiopia was under the leadership of Mengistu Haile Mariam and
his regime known as Derg (Coordinating Committee of the Armed Forces, Police,
and Territorial Army that ruled Ethiopia from 1974 to 1987 after it took power
following the ousting of Emperor Haile Selassie). Its aim was to counterbalance
another assassination movement from opposition party called white terror. It began
shortly after the deposition of Emperor Haile Selassie but the official campaign of
killing was launched... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They disagree with contents which basically say communist is bad, and the purely
evil portray of previous Ethiopian governments. As a place which will be used as a
historical reference in the future, they think a museum, which describe a certain
regime should present both positive and negative facts. The often raise questions why
good deeds of those governments are not found in the museum. As stated by Historian
Martin Meredith and many writers Emperor Haile Selassie is the king who trained
the well known South African racial segregation fighter Mandela and established the
still existing African Union Organization (AU). Mengistu Haile Mariam is also
known for sending troops for maintaining the Zimbabwe s civil war (1965 1979). But,
these stories are not found in the museum. Also, they think Ethiopians have bunches
of political philosophies that are stretched to the very opposite side. Thus, it is not for
a museum to articulate and show visitors that communism is evil with records, which
disguise the relationship Ethiopia used to have with Soviet Union just because the
Soviet Union was a communist
8. Music And Its Influence On The Italian Genre
Throughout history, various styles of music have developed to further the evolution
and complexity of music, wether it be commissioned by nobility or, composed for the
enjoyment of the normal, common populace. English madrigals, though not the
longest lasting style, is one such form of music that has had a lasting impact on the
continuing composition of music. Madrigals are defined four ways in A History of
Western Music. The fourth definition, English polyphonic work imitating the Italian
genre, is what will be covered in this paper but, to understand this definition, the other
four must be explored. Madrigals originated as a musical style in Italy in the 14th
Century, but, the style came around again in the 16th century (1588 1627), much
more popular and extremely more influential than the previous incarnation of
madrigals. Madrigals are songs in a poetic setting, such as a sonnet, or, another
nonrepetative verse form. Madrigals in England developed at the same time as mass
music printing, under William Byrd, although he himself eventually stopped
composing madrigals. In volume 15 of the Second Edition of The Grove Dictionary
of Music and Musicians, as to the circumstances of the rise of the madrigal, it states:
A favourable literary situation developed in the 1570s, when Spenser, Sidney and
other new poets undertook a comprehensive reform of native poetry along Italian
lines. From here, Musica transalpina was translated by Nicholas Yonge. Musica

to the exclusion criteria listed above. The 49 remaining articles with full texts that
met the inclusion criteria were assessed.11, 14, 17 19, 25 A total of 4 studies were
included in this review. One study compared aflibercept with bevacizumab and
ranibizumab for centre involved DMO using a standardized follow up and
retreatment regimen.17, 18 Due to there being only one study comparing
aflibercept with other anti VEGF agents, it was not included in the meta analysis.
Figure 1 provides a flow diagram of the search process. In total, there were 661
patients included in this meta analysis: 331 patients in the aflibercept group and
330 patients in the photocoagulation group. The characteristics of the studies
included and risk of bias assessment are summarized in Tables 1 and 2. The DA
VINCI study compared photocoagulation with monthly, bimonthly and as needed or
pro re nata (PRN) intravitreous aflibercept regimens. The PRN regimen was
selected for data extraction because this is the current practice with other anti
VEGF drugs. The VISTA and VIVID studies compared photocoagulation with 4
weekly intravitreous aflibercept (2q4) and a regimen of five initial 4 weekly
intravitreous aflibercept followed by 8 weekly injections (2q8). The 2q8 regimen

10. My Experience Of College Writing In High School
High School:
The light grey, concrete building rose from the ground, looking like something out
of a dystopian novel. I was rapidly approaching Herter Hall, where my dreaded
College Writing class would take place, with an overwhelming urge to turn around. I
was so anxious because up until my first semester at college, writing had been
synonymous with pure stress. In all of my previous writing classes, I was either
assigned literary analysis papers, or papers on the same controversial issues (gun
control or the death penalty). Furthermore, I was always instructed to follow a very
specific format, which made my essays very repetitive. After four years of writing
nearly the same essay, I had become very frustrated because my creativity and
perspective was being confined. Despite my hatred for the class, I considered
myself to be a decent writer. Seldom did I get lower than an A on an essay in high
school, and most teachers gave me praise for my insightful analysis. That being said,
I knew college writing would be more difficult than high school, and I was nervous
because I severely lacked revision skills. In the past, I would become very partial to
my writing and turned a blind eye to poor sentence structure, organization, or style
choices. As a result, my essays were generally only looked over for grammatical
errors.
Intro to College Writing:
My excitement was nonexistent and my attitude was poor that first day of writing
class, and it remained that way until we began
11. Point Of View In The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty
Thurber uses limited third person omniscient point of view. Through this
perspective we are able to focus strictly on Mitty s perception of his surroundings.
We experience the end of Mitty s first daydream through this perspective: ... the
roaring of the SN202 through the worst storm in twenty years of Navy flying fading
in the remote, intimate airways of his mind (327). The use of third person point of
view helps us understand the extent to which Mitty s fantasies were affecting his
interaction with others: You re driving too fast! Said Mrs. Mitty... Wrong lane, Mac,
say the parking lot attendant, looking at Mitty closely (327 328). Through this
perspective we also learn about Mitty s thoughts and feelings towards others: They re

Through these elements of language the narrator is able to demonstrate the thoughts
and feelings of the characters. The dramatic irony within the story reveals the
considerable disconnection that is happening when Mitty and Mrs. Mitty
communicate: I was thinking, said Walter Mitty. Does it ever occur to you that I am
sometimes thinking? ...she looked at him. I m going to take your temperature when I
get you home (331). Mrs. Mitty believes that there is something wrong with Mitty
that can be fixed medically, however, because we have seen inside of his head we
have a different impression of him. Another important kind of language used in the
story is dialog. It is through the dialogue that we learn about the conflict that is
present between Mitty and society. When Mitty is going around town, he experiences
multiple negative encounters with individuals: wrong lane, Mac said the parking lot
attendant, looking at Mitty closely, a woman who was passing laughed... that man
said Puppy biscuit to himself (328 330). Through these dialogues we learn about how
unwelcomed Mitty is upon interacting with society. The language in The Secret Life
of Walter Mittyis fundamental to the reader s understanding of Mitty s struggle

12. Early Childhood Education And Care
Early childhood education and care is defined as the educational programs and
strategies geared towards children from birth to the age of eight, these cover both
prior to school learning and the early years of primary school (Ailwood, Boyd,
Theobald 2016).
Early childhood settings are often known to be long day cares, occasional care,
family day care, preschools and kindergartens (Early Years Learning Framework
2009 page 8). These environments are safe, caring, welcoming environments that
promote learning in a child s mind by encouraging the use of real life scenarios.
Lev Vygotsky observed this in his own daughter, he once said that play is defined by
the presence of an imaginary situation, where children change the meaning of actions
and subjects to give them a new sense (Colliver and Fleer 2016).
In education pedagogy s today, there are many theories that are involved in the way
we teach children every day. Theorists such as Doctor Maria Montessori, Howard
Gardner, Erik Ericson and Burrhus Frederic (B.F) Skinner have influenced modern
day education and the standard curriculum by introducing and encouraging their
theories, theories such as operant conditioning by B.F Skinner, or Howard Gardner s
theory of the multiple intelligences. Each of these play their own roles in every
classroom in the form of teaching plans and disciplinary methods.
Focusing on the concept of cognitive development and how it relates with play based
learning, research shows that play can be
13. The Importance Of Human Communication And Health...
In all healthcare, there must be a form of commutation between patient and doctor.
Depending on the information you provide to someone can alter their life either in a
positive or a negative way. As stated on Foundations for Understanding
Communications in Healthcare Settings , Effective interpersonal communication
skills are said to be a gateway to the development of other important life skills .
(Pg.1 Peter) Not only will be able to communicate to patients adequately but you will
be able to communicate with you friends and family better. If communication with a
patient isn t clarified the patient can treat their self s wrong and could possible cause
there underlining condition to worsen or get to a point to where it isn t treatable.
Some words might be identifying differently with specific meaning to someone from
the United Kingdom from the United States.
There are two different forms of communication that is commonly used. Human
Communication and Health Communication. Human communication is how
individuals interact with other people through representative behavior through
language. Health communication is any type of human communication whose
content is concerned with health (Pg. 3 Peter)
Health care in general is unpredictable anything can happen at any point and time.
Health Care providers usually have their own view of what the patient needs at that
current time. Hospitals and clinics have a powerful structure. Physicians and other
health care professionals
14. Conspiracy Theories In David Irving s The Destruction Of...
Conspiracy Theories have always played a deceptive role in history. Conspiracy
theorists have skewed proper historical inquiry in order to back up their political
agenda. One famous conspiracy theorist, David Irving, known for his holocaust
denial conspiracy theorist is no stranger to this phenomenon. Irving s famous works
such as, The Destruction of Dresden and the infamous case that surrounded it show
how Irving s thinking in terms of using facts and material from the past are used in
order to fit his agenda of denying the holocaustand promoting his neo Nazism. Due to
his methods of historical inquiry through his works over the years, Irving does not
contribute to the established scholarly works in the field of holocaust research.
In order to understand what drives a denier to engage in this sort of activity, we
must look to their past. Irving grew up in Essex County, England. His father was a
commander in the Royal Navy and the author of several books about naval history ...

Guttenplan had met all the prominent players, but most importantly focused on the
two most important people for the defense, Evans and Anthony Julius, Lipstadt s
solicitor. Julius was able to acquire Irving s diaries and other papers. These papers
incriminated Irving as a racist, a neo facist and a Holocaust denier. One document

16. Humanism In The Renaissance Art
Final Exam
1.In general, humanism is considered as a focus on the actions of human beings.
(Sayre 66). This focus came to light after the Middle Ages, where art only centered
around God and religion. The Renaissance period marked a shift from a Christian
centered view to a humanistic emphasis that was expressed in the paintings, music,
and sculptures. Renaissance artists were also able to redefine humanism through the
recovery, study, and spread of the art and literature of Greece and Rome, and the
application of their principles to education, politics, social life, and the arts in general.
(Sayre 205). A paintingthat really exemplifies the significance of humanism to the
Renaissance period is the School of Athens by Raphael. Raphael created this piece as
way of demonstrating the worth of human beings in the midst of their scholarly
pursuits. He highlights the recovery of Greek and Roman art and literature through
the numerous references and symbols relating to past scholars and gods. Through the
use of one point perspective, the art piece immediately points the attention of the
audience to the two figures of Aristotle and Socrates. By putting Aristotle and
Socrates in the center, Raphael emphasizes the central theme of humanism through
putting humans themselves in the middle. These philosophers also demonstrate how
education and pursuit of knowledge became a beacon of the human worth. Another
recognizable illustration of humanism is the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da

18. Unreliable Narrator In The Cask Of Amontillado
Edgar Allen Poe often uses unreliable narrators in his stories. I will be analyzing
three stories of his to find what type of narrator he uses in each of them. Those
stories are The Black Cat , The Tell Tale Heart , and The Cask of Amontillado .
Each story is different and has a different a narrator. I will be describing the narratorin
each of their respective paragraphs.
The Black Cat has an unreliable narrator. He is an abusive, possibly insane,
alcoholic. He has a wife and a black cat. He is usually drunk when he returns home
after work, and the black cat becomes scared of him. And one day when he comes
home, the cat bites him and he stabs its eye out. Later he hangs the cat in a noose.
He later gets a new cat after his house burned down with a mysterious mark by his
bed. The cat has a white patch of fur around its neck. One day he goes to attack the
cat, his wife stops him and he kills his wife, puts her behind a wall. When the cops
come, the cat was trapped behind the wall, screams, and the police find the body. He

19. Carol Ann Duffy War Photographer Essay
Man s inhumanity to man by Krishna Ramagiri Do we ever learn that war is futile
and that we are increasingly desensitised to its deleterious effects? On the 11th of
November, 11 am in 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silent after four
gruelling and horrific years of carnage and bloodshed. Every year, Australians pause
for one minutes to remember those who gave their lives in war. It is a ritual that is
etched into the national psyche. Carol Ann Duffy s 1985 poem, War Photographer
captures the devastating experiences and effects of war. The poem results from Duffy
s friendship with Don McCullin and Philip Jones Griffiths, two highly respected stills
photographers who specialised in documenting war. Her poem conveys the critical
importance of taking action against War rather than dismissing it. The suffering and
devastation caused by war is brought to light through the photographer whose images
convey trauma and intense human suffering. These negative impacts of war are
graphically represented through Duffy s excellent use of imagery, but it is her
mocking tone that shapes the reader s understanding of the experience of war. Home

Through Duffy s words of running children in a nightmare heat she has made us
realise that not only are people involved in wars affected, but innocent civilians are
also harmed. Her pessimistic tone throughout her poem forces us to question society
s endeavours to prevent the occurrence of wars. Only recently, Russian rebel fighters
brought down a commercial airliner due to conflicts between Russia and Ukraine.
Additionally, Duffy has evoked a sense of guilt, as often war and the suffering
triggered by war is neglected. We been told that one day asteroids will destroy us.
Reading Duffy s poem though reflects a very different story. Humans, will cause
Earth s destruction; undoubtedly, through the act of
20. Jason Hendrix Case
There was a shootout that went viral recently in Maryland and the information
about it is now available for us to discuss. The young lad who was killed during the
shootout is identified as Jason Hendrix who is 16 years old and was from Corbin,
Kentucky. The Baltimore County Police officers, Maryland have been on a hunt
to find this young lad who is a suspect of his parent s and his 12 years old sisters
death. Right from there his hunt was on for the cops of Maryland. The Baltimore
cops finally decided to hunt him down through a routine traffic check point and
surprisingly it worked and the guy was traced. However it didn t turn out to be easy
for the cops as the guy made them chase him on a high spree that ended with the
teen firing on the officers. The irritated cops opened fire that injured the teenager and
he was killed. The reports from Corbin policestated that the teenager was suspect of
killing his parents for removing his computer privileges, the incident occurred of
February 11, 2015 when his dad; Kevin Hendrix, mom; Sarah Hendrix and a kid sister

On the incident, the family paid a visit to the Forward Community Church and
everything seemed just fine. All the folks who knew the family are shocked and upset

Annie read her first nonfiction book, The Natural Way to Draw by Kimon
Nicolaides, when she borrowed the drawing book from her friend s father. She was
fascinated by it, stating, I was amazed that there were books about things that one
actually did, and took up drawing almost every day. Throughout August and the fall
season the, book ran my life, Annie explains, making a tremendous effort to try to
follow its rigorous daily drawingroutines. While her father was away on his trip,
Annie converted the family s attic bedroom into a studio and moved in. Annie
describes that at eight o clock every summer or weekend morning she would tape,
that day s drawing schedule to a wall, and since she did not have a model, she would
draw her baseball
22. The Legal Drinking Age Should Be Abolished
Legal at Eighteen
Currently in the United States the legal age to drink alcohol is twenty one years
old. Before the 1980s, the legal drinking age was eighteen years old. In 1980, the
drinking age was changed to twenty one to diminish the number of traffic deaths
caused by young drunk drivers. Changing the drinking age to twenty one has not
reduced drinking, it only made teens drink in unsafe and illegal environments. The
drinking age should be changed to eighteen, because eighteen year olds have the right
to vote, marry, buy guns, join the military, are considered adults, take away the thrill
of breaking the law, and it would help the economy.
In the United States at eighteen years old a citizen can vote. At eighteen a person can
choose who will be president, governor, senator, and other important positions. If an
eighteen year old can make the decision of who should run the country, then they can
decide if they want to drink alcohol. By the age of eighteen most people are
intelligent enough to comprehend politics and vote, and they should be smart enough
to understand how alcohol affects a person and smart responsibly. Of an eighteen

23. Persuasive Essay On Reasons For Holy Wars
For centuries, people have lived under the influence of religion, believing in
person or people greater than themselves. Religion can be found in all corners of
the world, America, Europe, Arabia, and everywhere else. How it got there, may
be a much darker story though. War has been at the basis of all human life, guiding
us to a dark place filled with fear and death. We see it as the only means to an end,
and we have repeated this cycle for as long as we have been alive. Many religions,
such as Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim, are not justified for starting holy wars,
reminding us that people will believe that anything is right if it is under Gods name.

The washington post estimates that 1.7 million lives were lost in the Crusades, a
series of holy wars. Those are 1.7 million people who never truly finished their
lives, who were exterminated and slaughtered in the name of God. People may say
that through these wars land was achieved for the winning side and allowed their
empire to grow. That doesn t justify how many people were slain and tortured.
Additionally, both sides lost one way or another. Many lives on both sides were lost
and land was destroyed. The Washington post states, The Crusaders themselves
suffered; historians estimate that only one in 20 survived to even reach the Holy
Land. People may say that people did survive and yes that is true. After going
through war though, after seeing your friends die in front of you, you ask yourself,
Was it really worth it?
In conclusion, people will believe that anything is right if it is under God s name,
reminding us that religions such as Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim, are not
justified for starting holy wars. Records of God s words state it is wrong to kill,
millions of people were killed, and both sides lost one way or another. The many

Generational Differences in the Classroom
Most people have a learning style that mirrors how they were taught when they
were younger. It should be noted that there is not a one size fits all method when it
comes to learning. The key to being able to appeal to each of the different
generations is to offer diversity in teaching styles in order to satisfy the different
preferences. As of now, there are four generations that are in the workforce and those
four generations are: The Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and the
Millennials. This paper will examine the characteristics of these four generations, how
their learning styles differ, and what to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important for these adult students to have time to understand concepts that
involve the use of technology. The next generation to be examined is the Baby
Boomers, the Baby Boomers were born in the early 1940 s to early 1960 s. This
generation occupies a lot of top executive roles in the workforce and are not retiring
as they were expected to (Levonius, 2015). The Baby Boomers were taught to grow
up questioning authority and standing up for themselves when they needed to.
Around the time this generation was in school there was a grade inflation in the
educational system, and the Boomer s strived to achieve these high grade marks.
Baby Boomers were taught in a linear fashion, they were taught by lecture, and the
technology they had included overhead projectors and some videos (Warren, 2012).
Since this generation was accustomed to trying to achieve high grades they became
achievement oriented adults. Education was quite a bit different from earlier
generations in this era (Olson, 2011). There was more emphasis placed on students
to finish high school, and for the first time in history more students were attending
college. From both the size of the generation as well as their impact to society, Baby
Boomers have strong sense of self and a desire for involvement in their world,
particularly at work (Olson, 2011). They have a strong work ethic, and a desire to
receive rewards
26. Capricorn By Max Ernst, Pokal ) By Balthasar Griessmann
Artists do not create sculptures. They simply see an object and begin to mold or
carve it, thus allowing that object to freely stand alone. Almost anything can be
sculpted, but what makes a good monument is its ability to tell a story or cause
contemplation without words. Two pieces at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art in
Kansas City depict unique scenarios using lines, movement, balance, and value.
Capricorn by Max Ernst and Pokal by Balthasar Griessmann use organization of the
elements of form and principles of design to both narrate and describe intense
ideologies. While both pieces have similarities such as being sculptured in the round
and storytelling ability, the use of the elements and overall tones of the art works
give each piece a unique quality.
Max Ernst, a German artist born in the late 1890 s created Capricorn in 1948 using a
Bronze casting system. The sculpture depicts a royal family, consisting of a man, a
woman, and a small child (female). They man is sitting on what seems to be a
throne, and is holding a massive cane. The woman sits next to the man on her own
chair, in a very formal upright position, while the small girl sits on the man s lap.
Max Ernst titled the work Capricorn , which relates to astrology and a constellation,
suggesting a spiritual belief. Ernst was married to Dorothea Tanning, a fellow artist,
and it is believed that the characters in the sculpture are portrayals of them. Ernst also
owned several Katsina, or Zuni sprit
27. Nuclear Radiation and Fallout Effects
The Fallout
If a nuclear fallout were to occur, the earth would turn into a radiated wasteland.
The earth would be essentially non liveable, but it could be possible to survive.
People, with the help of fallout shelters and bunkers, would be able to survive the
initial attack and quite possibly live in the shelters until the radiation has dropped to a
level in which they can survive.
Now, the difference between a nuclear explosion and a convention explosion is that a
nuclear explosion can be thousands, or even millions of times more powerful than the
largest conventional detonations. There are a few different places a nuclear weapon
can erupt at. These explosions are called air, high altitude, underwater, underground,
and surface ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bunkers and shelters all over the world would be packed with as many people as
they can fit and some would be overrun with hoards of people trying to get in. The
world would panic and do what they think would help them survive. The initial
attack of a nuclear weapon would be catastrophic. The blast of these bombs would
cause massive destruction. City areas would be completely destroyed by
overpressures of 5 psi. These explosions can produce around an overpressure of 50
psi. If an explosion occurs above ground, the blast wave is reflected off the ground,
causing a second wave to follow the first. Behind the blast wave comes the thermal
radiation; two pulses of thermal radiation emerge from the explosion. The first
pulse consists of radiation in the ultraviolet region, and the second pulse carries
around ninety nine percent of the thermal radiation energy. Along with the thermal
radiation is the fireball, an extremely hot and spherical mass of air, which occurs in
less than one millionth of a second of detonation and continues to grow in size. The
fireball will grow and cool down, then the vapors condense to create a cloud
containing solid particles of the weapons debris. This cloud is widely know as The
Mushroom Cloud . In some conditions, the many fires created by the explosion can
turn into a massive fire known as a Firestorm .
28. The Theory On Rainbow Formation And The Mechanics Of
Them...
Rainbows and the mechanics of them have been studied since ancient times. Greek
philosophers had some understanding of the role of refraction, scientists in the 13th
century produced theories on rainbow formation, and in the 17th century, Rene
Descartes sketched out the conditions required to observe a rainbow(Douma).
There are two key aspects that affect a rainbow, and these include the altitude of the
sun and the size of the raindrops. The colors of the rainbow are because of two basic
facts:
Sunlight is made up of the whole range of colors that the eye can detect. The range
of sunlight colors, when combined, looks white to the eye. This property of sunlight
was first demonstrated by Sir Isaac Newton in 1666.
Light of different colors is refracted by different amounts when it passes from one
medium (air, for example) into another (water or glass, for example) (University
Corporation for Atmospheric Research).
Determining whether or not the wavelengths will go through the raindrops or reflect
depends on the angle that the light falls on the backside of the raindrop. Each rain
droplet has a function in the formation of the rainbow. Sunlight enters the rain droplet
at a specific angle and the rain droplet separates the white light into many different
colors. This angle is a fixed measurement between your eye and the sun. What color
that is refracted is dependent on the critical angle, the angle the sunlight strikes the
back of the rain droplet (Mahlen). Red
29. Coral Bleaching Essay
Coral Bleaching
Coral reefs are the most biodiverse ecosystem on the planet. There are more than
25,000 known species of organisms and countless others that have yet to be
identified (Helvarg, 2000). Reefs thrive on the shallow edge of tropical seas, most
often on the eastern edge of continents along warm water currents that brush the
coasts. Reefs cannot live in cold waters and are limited by ocean depth and available
sunlight. Coral is the foundation of the reef community, providing a three
dimensional structure where thousands of species of vertebrates and invertebrates
live and feed. Some species of coral are hard, while others soft. Some are branched,
yet others are compact and rounded. Coral is made up of large ... Show more content

Coral bleaching is normally characterized by the expulsion of the zooxanthellae
algae, loss of algal pigmentation, or both. Coral bleaching events have had serious
effects on corals and reefs worldwide. What is crucial to the understanding of
zooxanthellae expulsion and bleaching is how the density of zooxanthellae within
the coral is changing, if at all, under the prevailing range of environmental
conditions (Gates and Edmunds, 1999). Over the last twenty years, there has been
a dramatic increase in both the frequency and intensity of coral bleaching events.
Sixty major bleaching events have been reported between 1960 and 1979, whereas
only nine were reported prior to 1979 (Huppert and Stone, 1998). Given the
dependence of the coral on this symbiotic algae, it is important to determine the
cause of these bleaching events. According to Helvarg (2000, p.12): Coral reefs...
are fragile structures living within a narrow range of temperature, clarity, salinity
and chemistry. Even a slight increase in ocean temperature, or increased CO2... can
cause stresses such as bleaching... These stresses slow the rate of growth of the
corrals... With some 60 percent of the world s coral reefs now losing productivity, it
s becoming a global crisis and a scientific mystery.
Scientists have been trying to solve this scientific mystery by evaluating each
environmental condition
30. Monkey Wrench Gang Analysis
Recently, the spread of urban America and governmental control has led to
difficulties in finding the once plentiful wild. People often venture out past city
limits into what they perceive as wilderness to leave society behind in hopes of
coming to some major life changing self realization. They believe that the wild will
transform them. However, a deeper look into this fascination with wildernessreveals
that urbanization, and not the wild, results in personal, and societal, transformation.
For this reason, revisiting the wilderness does not create new qualities in individuals,
but helps surface qualities that those individuals already possessed. Evidence to
support this claim exists in several popular pieces of American literature, including
Edward Abbey s Monkey Wrench Gang.
This thesis serves not to suggest that changes brought about by industrialization or

This increase in the quantity and geographical sprawl of cities, as well as our
dependence on them characterizes what we commonly know as urbanization. In his
article, Urbanization, Mental Health, and Social Deviancy, Anthony Marsella
provides a more comprehensive definition, claiming that urbanization causes an
increase in population which impacts the way individuals in an area interact with one
another, resulting in behavior changes among the population such as differentiation,
segmentalization, segregation, and marginalization (625). Due to the implementation
of city limits, and due to the link that exists between urbanization and the
development of cities, the beginning and end of urban areas appears to be well

Advantages and Disadvantages of Going Public through the IPO Process
Advantages * The partners can obtain a true value of the shares they possess in the
company* Partners can remove their signatures from the lines of credit and thus,
are no longer personally liable to the creditors* The overall financial condition of a
company is improved as it brings in non refundable money* A broader capital base
gives the company more access to credit which gives the company an option to
venture into new business opportunities * Capital raised in an IPO can be used to
pay off debt and thus reduce the interest costs and enhance the company s debt to
equity ratio * The value of the stock may see an upward trend thus increasing the
initial investor s financial wealth * When a company goes public, it attracts the
attention of the media and financial community thus providing free publicity and
helps in creating a better corporate image * By going public and listing on a stock
exchange it can directly foster public reputation in general Disadvantages * The
market is extremely unpredictable and an unsuccessful IPO can result in a great
loss of time as well as money for the company * The ownership of the partners is
dissolved and they become mere employees who are responsible to the shareholders
and Board of Directors * Continuous dealing with shareholders
32. The Monster or Beauty of Advertisement Essay
In life, nothing is hardly ever clear, as if there s never just one side over the other,
but more commonly a mix of both. This idea applies to something that appears in
almost everyone s life, advertisements. For every TV owner, laptop user, or shopper,
it s nearly impossible to escape the grasp of advertisements. But a current controversy
that catching people s attention is the idea that advertisements can possibly be
manipulative instead of the expected persuasive advertisement. In Two Ways a Can
Get Hurt, Jean Kilbourne believes that advertisements degrade and possibly even
remove women from power. Also, in With These Words, I Can Sell You Anything, by
William Lutz, the idea that open words, and how companies can use these tactics...

When looking at Kilbourne s two premises it is easy to agree with premise one, that
commercials do degrade women, but there doesn t seem to be the connection between
women being degraded, to these commercials being manipulative. In the printed ad
Cigarette Women, there is a small picture with a male and female actress, not very
clear, but still noticeable. To the ignorant eye, it would be viewed as harmless, but
in the eyes of Kilbourne it speaks so much more. The position of the women in the
picture could be seen as helpless and dependent on the man who has a powerful
stance. The clothes on these two models could be seen in a similar way with the
man being fully clothed in a business, while the woman is in a short white dress.
These are two factors that do show this picture to be degrading and provocative, but it
isn t manipulating.
Manipulation can be seen with having the traits of being forceful, by being tricky, or
to falsify for one owns advantage. This picture of the man and the women is not
forceful by any means, is does not threaten or pump fear in the minds of the audience.
There doesn t seem to be anything falsified to be tricky for the advertisement
company s own good. So Kilbourne s idea that by degrading women these
companies are manipulative, is false. They use the factors of persuasion by inducing,
or prevail, or urge on successfully. The urge is created by the

Toward the start of your studies, you will most likely have many general inquiries,
for example,
o How did Europe come to overwhelm such an extensive amount advanced history?
o Was North America bound to end up a super power?
o Does the past have any bearing on the world today?
o Does history have any bearing on a distinct individual s life?
Many individuals appreciate steering into history and authentic inquiries by perusing
recorded fiction. Dan Brown s The Da Vinci Code is a mainstream decision and can
lead individuals to further study Renaissance workmanship, culture, and history.
History of War
Many individuals start concentrating on history by taking a gander at the historical
backdrop of fighting. Military History and Maritime History can captivate subjects.
You can concentrate on the wars themselves or the political figures who arranged the
occasions.
Finest Years: Churchill as Warlord 1940 45 by Sir Max Hastings is a nitty gritty
picture of Winston Churchill. It is an interesting prologue to England amid the
cutting edge wars. Finding out about the war time frames can irritate. You may have
many inquiries concerning the very way of war.
A few inquiries may be:
o Does war characterize mankind s history?
o Should you characterize recorded eras by the wars that were battled?
o If history is composed by the victors, would we be able to ever have a genuinely
precise record of a war?
o Can lessons from history help us avert future mobilized

36. Feasibility And Practicability Of Using Concept Mapping...
Investigating the feasibility and practicability of using concept mapping and two
differential weighting approaches within a system for different types of knowledge
assessment and the limitations of current computer based assessment systems based
on concept maps have been the motivating force for the researcher to conduct this
study. The contribution of this study includes several aspects as follows.
First, this developed knowledge assessment system based on concept maps
incorporates the non weighting approach and weighing approach together for
knowledge assessment, which not only eliminates the assumption of equal degree of
importance of any proposition when scoring a student concept map in some existing
computer based tools based on concept maps such as SemNet (Fisher, 2000) and
Assessment Agent Tool Based on Concept Maps ( Liu, 2010), but also compensates
the degree of inflexibility of scoring methods for using one assessment approach in
some existing tools such as Weighted Concept Map Tool (Chang et al., 2005) and
Assessment Agent Tool Based on Concept Maps (Liu, 2010). Thus, it provides more
options for instructors to score student created concept maps appropriately within one
tool.
Second, this knowledge assessment system based on concept maps is developed for
both instructors and learners; it can automate the scoring process as well as generate
the timely knowledge assessment report. The learner can use the immediate feedback
to measure learning progress and evaluate

We could credit it as the way wrestling is, but that explanation is not enough.
That s the same mediocre standard that lets people think this is all fake. The
backstage area of a WWE event, in real life, is a fascinating place. The characters
alone could serve up a unique visual language. RAW has the freedom to explore
something no other sport and no other television show can. You get to see the journey
behind the curtain of Monday Night Raw while also watching it.
Viewers still don t have access to a fictional version of that world behind the curtain.
Backstage segments continue to reduce that fascinating space to a single dimension.
And the characters become subjects who may or may not be aware of their
surroundings.
Going back to the scene between Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon, a lot would
have to go into reshaping it. In fact, the WWE would need to re think the
fundamental approach of its visual narrative. But that s not as severe of a creative
overhaul as it sounds.

38. Animal Cell Vs Human Body
The Animal Cell VS. The Human Body
Introduction: The animal cell can be compared to the human body in various ways
and functions. Most or all parts of the animal can be matched to parts of the human
body that have very similar functions and jobs when looking at the whole picture.
Like an animal cell, each part of the human body has a specific job that helps regulate
the entire operation. Some parts are more important or have a bigger job than others.
For example, the brain is much more important to the entire system than the teeth are.
Or in the sense of an animal cell, the nucleus has a much bigger job than the
lysosomes.
Cell membrane: The cell membrane surrounds the cell and controls what goes in and
out of the cell. This is a lot like skin protects and holds the body together. And much

This is compared to blood cells that also can be found throughout the human body and

Cytoskeleton: The job of the cytoskeleton in an animal cell is to give the cell shape
and structure, hold the organelles in place and direct their movement. This sounds
very familiar to the job of bones and muscles which also give the human body shape
and structure and hold the organs in place.
Lysosomes: Lysosomes contain enzymes that break down and digest large molecules
into smaller molecules. To me this sounds like the function of the stomach, which
also digests large materials into smaller materials to send into the body as nutrients
and proteins. The stomach and lysosomes also share an acidic environment for the
material to be digested in.
Endoplasmic reticulum: The function of the ER is to carry material and nutrients
through the cell from part to part. Which is also the function of the intestines. They
both carry necessary materials through the body or cell. And as well as the function,
they also take on a very similar

41. A Study On The Initial Value Of The Rdi
The RDI is expressed in three forms: the initial value (О±_k), normalized RDI
(RDIn), and standardized RDI (RDIst). The initial value (О±_k) of RDI is presented
in an aggregated form using a monthly timestep and is usually calculated for i th year
in a time basis of k of consecutive months using following equation:
О±_(`k)^((i))=(∑_(j=1)^kв
–’P_ij )/(∑_(j=1)^kв
–’гЂ–EToгЂ—_ij ),i=1,...,N and
j=1,...,k Where pij and EToij are precipitation and ETo of the j th month of the i th
year and N is the total number of years of the available data. The normalized RDI
(RDIn) is estimated as follows: гЂ–RDIгЂ—_(n(k))^((i))=(О±_k^((i)))/(О±_k ) М…
1 In which О± М…_k is the arithmetic mean of О±_k values. Tsakiris et al. (2008)
though analysis of various data from several location and different timescales shown
that О±_k values follow satisfactorily both gamma and lognormal distributions
however gamma distribution shows the best fit in most timescales and locations.

42. Anger Is An Emotional State Essay
Anger is a divine grant to help man release his negative feelings, and this feeling
has been examined by different literary works .This feeling results from specific
circumstances and pressures. Anger is an emotional state that may range in
intensity from mild irritation to intense fury and rage. Anger has physical effects
including raising the heart rate and blood pressure and the levels of adrenaline.
Anger is a (physiological and psychological) response to a perceived threat to self
or important others, present, past, or future. The threat may appear to be real,
discussed, or imagined. Anger is often a response to the perception of threat due to
a physical conflict, injustice, negligence, humiliation or betrayal among other
contentions. The expression of anger can be through active or passive behaviours.
In the case of active emotion the angry person lashes out verbally or physically at
an intended target. When anger is a passive emotion it is characterised by silent
sulking, passive aggressive behaviour (hostility) and tension. This new book
presents leading edge research in this field. Anger is caused by different factors , it
can be caused by reacting to things outside us such as other people or events (such
as traffic jam in the first example ) or by worrying over our own personal problems (

43. Analysis On Key Value Stores Essay
Analysis on Key Value Stores
Introduction
We have come into the era of Big Data. As (Atikoglu, Xu, Frachtenberg, Jiang,
Paleczny, 2012) stated, the need for efficiently storing large scale data in scale out
companies at lower cost is dramatically increasing. Therefore Key Value Store has
occurred in popularity. (Fitzpatrick, 2004) has clarified that KV stores plays an
essential role in lots of huge websites such as Facebook, Twitter, GitHub and
Amazon. This paper reviewed 6 popular key value stores and distinguished primary
features, performance and availability of each. The six systems are Hyperdex,
Dynamo, SILT, Project Voldemort used by LinkedIn, Berkeley DB and LevelDB
used by Google.
A key value store database has a set of keys and values, and each value is associated
with a key. The implementation of key value store database is actually a distributed
hash table (Stonebraker, 04/2010). Key Value Stores(KV), which are normally
known as a model of NoSQL databases, are widely deployed for data operation and
management in purpose of enhancing Internet services due to better scalability,
higher efficiency and more availability than existing relational databases systems
(Wang, et al., 2014). Because KV stores sacrifice relation model in exchange for fast
writing, and they are often featured with simple methods like put() , delete() and get()
.
LevelDB
LevelDB is a very lightweight, simple key value store with limited operational
abilities. LevelDB will store data in
44. Use Of Force Training For All Law Enforcement Agencies
Use of force Over the past three years there has been a conflict with the use of force
not just by police but with citizens as well. Recent events such as the shooting of
Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman in 2012 and the killing of Mike Brown by
a Ferguson police officer just recently in August of 2014 has raised eyebrows about
the use of force. Clearly there is a misunderstanding of the concept of when and
when not to use force especially when it is the use of deadly force. The training
that is given as well as the understanding of use of force is outdated. The federal
government should implement excessive use of force training for all law
enforcement agencies in the U.S. Let s look at the Trayvon Martin tragedy as an
example of unnecessary use of force. George Zimmerman followed Trayvon
Martin after a dispatcher told him not to which lead to a confrontation between the
two. Under Florida stand your ground act a person can protect themselves if they
fear their well being is at harm even using deadly force. Zimmerman clearly
outweighed Trayvon but claims that his use of deadly force was justified on a
minor who also had a justified right to protect himself from Zimmerman advances.
When a firearm is discharged at a person that is using deadly force, one of the highest

45. Fice Of Elementary And Secondary Education
The Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) supports a total of 80
programs striving to achieve three distinct missions: promoting academic excellence,
creating educational opportunities and equity, and improving the quality of
education through financial and technical assistance and leadership. For the fiscal
year of 2017, President Obama requested a sum of $209.1 billion for the OESE,
accounting for $69.4 in discretionary funds and $139.7 in mandatory funds, which
overall is a two percent increase from the 2016budgetrequest. This money
specifically was meant to support the Every Student Succeeds, Preschool for All,
and Computer Science for All acts, as well as programs such as RESPECT,
Stronger Together, and America s College Promise, while also increasing the Pell
Grant and simplifying the FAFSA process. However, according to the 2017
appropriations bill, the OESE received only $67 billion; a $1.3 billion decrease from
2016. This reduction in fundingis meant to address fewer programs than originally
requested, with special priority placed on the ESSA, Title 1 and IDEA grants for
states.
The process by which Congress determined this amount conforms primarily with the
theory of incremental budgeting. Incremental budgeting, by definition a budget
process based on implementing only slight changes from the preceding period s
budget, is easily recognized when comparing the 2017 OESE budget to the 2016 one
and other, prior requests, as little changes in funding
46. A Social Norm Experiment
The social norm experiment that I performed consisted of me violating a social
norm and observing people s reactions for doing so. I did something that is deemed
not normal, based off from societal standards. The norm I broke was an interesting
one. Instead of respecting strangers personal space, I invaded their space. I stood in
front of them as close as I could possibly get, without touching them. I choose to
break this social normbecause of how I am with people. Strangers or friends, it does
not matter, I do not like when people stand close to me. I feel as if they are
invading my personal space. When people stand too close to me, I tense up and
feel very uncomfortable. In my eyes, this social norm is necessary, especially for
people who are similar to me and need to have their distance from others. My
experiment consisted of me asking strangers, on the streets of Downtown Grand
Rapids, for directions to Rosa Park s Circle, and invading their personal space. To
start, I would approach a stranger; tell them that I am lost, and that I am in need of
directions to the Rosa Park s Circle. As strangers began giving directions to me, I
inched closer and closer to them. In addition to invading their personal space, I also
held intense eye contact with them, trying my best not to blink. The whole time,
although it was difficult, I kept a straight face while I performed my experiment. To
make sure that I gathered enough information, and a variety of results, I tested my
47. Interpersonal Communication And Communication Skills
Essay
There are many aspects of interpersonal communication that one must be able to
manage with proficiency in order to be considered a competent interpersonal
communicator. These aspects have been divided into six different categories
including appropriate, effective, adaptable, conversational involvement,
conversational management, and empathy. The table below indicates my personal
scores in each of those six areas, and following the chart is an in depth analysis of
appropriate, effective, conversational management, and empathy. Communication
skills can also be broken down into motivation, knowledge, and skill. As skill was
the area of the test that I scored the lowest on, I have analyzed why this is and what
I can do to improve in this area. Overall, I would say that I am relatively strong at
interpersonal communication as I am very active socially and have many successful
interpersonal relationships in my life.

48. A Brief Note On The Auto Industry And The Automobile
Industry
Two Tier Wages in the Auto Maker Industry Two tiered wages in the automobile
industry are a result of agreements for a government bailout with the top three auto
makers in the United States: GM, Chrysler, and Ford. One of the major issues
identified in the near fall of these major automakers, aside from increase in gas
prices and overall recessions, were the cost of labor. Hourly wages and
compensations were as high as $73 per hour for Ford, GM, and Chrysler despite
low overall low satisfactory and road test ratings (Milkovich, Newman, and
Gerhart, 2014) The two tiered wages would grandfather current employees to
continue receiving the same pay; however, new workers would receive about half
the pay and compensations despite doing the same work (Milkovich, Newman,
and Gerhart, 2014). Additionally, the Chevrolet Sonic is outsourced to the United
Automobile Workers (UAW) for even cheaper labor costs than the Tier II GM
workers. These methods have reduced the average cost of labor for GM from
$1160 per vehicle to $710. Ultimately GM could be saving $72 million per year in
labor costs alone as a result of the two tiered wages and outsourcing (Milkovich,
Newman, and Gerhart, 2014). Ultimately, this has made these companies more
competitive in local and foreign markets (Armend and Zoia, 2011). Two Tier Wages
Across the Border In 2008, Ford began building the Ford Fiesta in Cuautitlan
Mexico, which also adapted the two tier pay system (Rubber and Plastics News,
2008).
49. Stereotypes In Breaking Bad
Trump distinguishes himself by raising his profile and discussing a rhetoric that
bashes Mexican immigrants through the use of stereotype. An example of
stereotype discussed in the article is on the TV series Breaking Bad, a series that
focuses on the crime and drama genre highlighting illegal activities of drug
trafficking and the development of a chemistry teacher into crystal meth producer.
For the present study, all five seasons, which were broadcast over a period of six
years and comprise 62 episodes of about 45 minutes each, were analyzed with regard
to Mexican stereotyping. One of the traditional stereotypes that was presented in
Breaking Bad is the traditional stereotypeof the violent and unreasonable Mexican

50. Ethiopi The Country Of The World
Considered one of the most important beverages in the world, the people of the
world run on coffee. However, the process of coffee making from bean to brew, is
tumultuous and a cause of mass hardships for the farmers and agricultural workers
who grow, pick, and sort coffee. Coffee is grown in over fifty countries of the world,
but it s origins is in Ethiopia. For the past ten years, Ethiopia has been trying to raise
the quality of life for its coffeefarmers and workers, where it is a source of livelihood
for somewhere around 15 million people. Most the people involved with coffee trade
in Ethiopia get paid less than two dollars a day for their work and contribution while
prices for arabica brewed coffee soar in Europe, America, and parts... Show more

Many traditions and celebrations have coffee as the centerpiece. Much of the
coffee grown and produced in Ethiopia are considered to be speciality coffee which
to consumers in places like North America and Europe means a higher price tag
but better quality and taste. Coffee is seen as the backbone of the Ethiopian
economy, contributing 41 per cent of total foreign exchange earnings in 2005
(Petit, 2007), however, many of those earnings are not going back to the people
who work within the coffee industry there. It is reported that the coffee industry in
Ethiopia is sustaining the livelihoods of more than one million coffee growing
households and an estimated 15 million people in total (Petit, 2007) but many of
these peoples are living in destitution and poverty in the past few decades. For the
farmers in Ethiopia the earnings they get from coffee is estimated to be around
US$1.50 while in the first world the coffee from Sidama, Yirgacheffe and Harar
coffees are being sold in the retail market for up to US$26 per pound (Arslan, A.,
Reicher, C. P. , 2012)
From the 1960s to 1989, the price of coffee was stable and was used to help the
development of coffee growing and producing nations, including Ethiopia. This was
because of the International Coffee Agreement was used in both importing and
exporting nations where there were quotas and price controls were used to strengthen
and empower coffee growing nations (Black Gold). However, in 1989 drastic changes

Environmental Crisis Exposed in The World Is Too Much With Us and God s
Grandeur
In his poem, The World Is Too Much With Us, William Wordsworth blames modern
man of being too self indulgent. Likewise, Gerard Manley Hopkins shows how the
way we treat nature shows our loss of spirituality in his poem, God s Grandeur. We
are ruthless by lacking proper appreciation for, being separated from, and abusing
nature.
Man lacks proper gratitude for nature. People often are blind to nature s great beauty.
It moves us not, says Wordsworth. Many people never see a sunrise or a sunset
because we are too concerned with the hustle and bustle of our tiny worlds to
appreciate the opulence around us. We don t recognize ... Show more content on

We also take animals for granted. We believe that they were created ultimately for
our use. Wordsworth goes as far as to wish he was A Pagan suckled in a creed
outworn. Pagans often use animals as their gods. Woodworth thinks that if we were
all pagans, we would truly respect the Earth and everything upon it. Our alienation
from nature makes us merciless to Mother Nature.
Man s alienation from nature is the reason man abuses nature. Economic gain is
what most people think of when cutting down a tree, or doing something else to
harm the landscape. In his poem, Wordsworth shows that We have given our hearts
away. This means that we have taken something so close to us, and mistreated it.
We have sold what God gave us for material things. We also have overused the Earth
for industrial advantage. The Earth is taken advantage of, and is seared with trade;
bleared, smeared with toil, as Hopkins explains in the poem, God s Grandeur. Our
children may not have natural resources because we greedily use them up. We
want to use Alaska, America s last frontier, to gain more natural resources. We feel
nothing when we pollute nature for our benefit. The Earth wears man s smudge and
shares man s smell. Today we are threatened with skin cancer because of a hole in
the ozone layer due to factories and our love of machines with gasoline motors.

52. Cultural Changes In Rear Window
As our culture changes so do the films we see. If we look at films and their
remakes decades later, it is easy to see the changes in our culture. Between the time
of the film Rear Window was released in 1954, under direction of Alfred Hitchcock,
and the 2007 film Disturbia, directed by D.J. Caruso, our country has experienced
many cultural changes over those 53 years we have seen an increase in violence,
huge advancement in technology, and the increased use of sexuality, because of
the media coverage of the Vietnam War, the inventing of the microchip and
computer, and the end of the Hays Code in 1968. In Rear Window and Disturbia,
both Jeff, played by James Stewart in Rear Window and Kale, played by Shia
Lebeouf in Disturbia have been forced to remain indoors, and because of extreme
boredom they have taken to spying on their neighbors to pass the time. While
observing their neighbors they see something strange from one of the men in their
neighborhood. Kale and Jeff become convinced that their neighbor is a killer,
played by David Morse in Disturbia and Raymond Burr in Rear Window. They also
convince their friends of this. They end up trying to find a way to obtain evidence to
use against the suspected killer. They become obsessed with trying to catch the killer

The world would forever change in 1958, when Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce

invention there wouldn t be any cellphones, laptops, high definition televisions, or I

major technology companies we have today, that have innovated our world. In the
two films Rear Window and Disturbia, you can see many examples of the differences

I am starting my essay with what place I am doing. I am doing White Haven,
Pennsylvania, It is a New Sweeden land turned into Pennsylvania land. This city is
a small town, there is not so much history of this city. The Historical Landmarks I
think are very interesting, The Liberty Bell and Gettysburg Battlefield. I personally
think that this is a very interesting city myself. The Liberty bell is a bell that was
first rung on July 8, 1776 to celebrate the first public reading of the Declaration of
Independence. Gettysburg Battlefield is a Battle fought by Union and Confederate
forces during the American civil war. I would love to go and see the Liberty bell and
the Gettysburg Battlefield. I m not into history that much, but I would still like to go
see those things.
The demographics and reputation is what i m talking about next. The reputation is
pretty cool, it is that the Liberty bell is in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The population
of White Haven is 1,097. That s a small town, but yet the town I live in is very small.

Another reason for the labeling of GMOs in food products is that very little is
known about them; they have the possibility of harming those that eat them. To
begin, this technology has only existed for a few decades, and something as
revolutionary as genetic modification is going to take years to perfect. While this
tech is still in it s experimental phases, it can cause certain side effects that harm
people all around the planet. One of such side effects is the unintended spread of
allergens, Researchers at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln produce evidence that

Many vouch for the importance of GMOs in the world today and the greater
importance to come, and claim that labeling products containing them will only hurt
this budding, and possibly extremely fruitful, technology. However, the claims they
make to support this controversial method of food alteration hold little proven truth,
as very little is known about how effective GMOs really are. On the other hand, one
thing that is known are the dangers that the growth and consumption of GMOs
present, to both the safety and health of individuals and the world s environment.
Don t people deserve to know what they are eating, especially if what they are
eating may cause harm to them? If people choose to take the risk and eat this
experimental technology, then let them, but those who care about their health and
the environment should have the choice to avoid GMOs. That is all that labeling
does, provide the consumer with the choice to eat GMOs or not. Big Agra
companies like Monsanto do not want the consumer to have the choice, or the public
to be informed past what propaganda they release in support of their own products.
This is where the government must step in, it has a responsibility to protect it s
citizens. Once labeling has been instituted in America, the public will not only feel
safer and more secure about their food with the

She couldn t find it, her brother helped search for the key but it was nowhere to be
seen. Their mom wouldn t get off work for another two hours, so they had to sit
outside in the hot sun waiting for her. She reached into her backpack to get her
phone so she could call her mom. After she realised her phone wasn t in her
backpack she decided to go sit under a tree for shade. After sitting under the tree for a
while, the sun started to set. Their mom finally got home and they went inside. She
told her mom that she had left her phone at school. Since it was summer break she
couldn t go back and get it. Her mom told her that she wasn t getting another phone
since she left it at school. Kaylee snuck out of the house to go get her friends.

inside of the school, the doors were locked, Kaylee threw a rock at the door and the

56. Feeding Tube Refusal Dilemma Essay
Feeding Tube Refusal Dilemma A 28 year old female with cerebral palsy and
debilitating arthritis is in the hospital for treatment. She is immobile and unable to
perform basic tasks on her own. Due to her condition, she is having trouble eating and
in order to help, the doctor believes that a feeding tube (PEG tube) should be
surgically inserted. When told about the treatment, the patient refuses surgery. She is
deemed competent and understands her situation. In this situation, I propose that the
care team should respect the wishes of the patient and let her die. It is clearly stated
that the patient is autonomous and aware of the potential risks of refusing treatment.
She is willing to accept the fact that if she does not receive the feeding tube, she will
die of malnutrition. In addition, she is not consenting to the surgery and they cannot
legally force her to accept treatment to have the PEG tube inserted. The conditions for
consent include competence, understanding and appreciation of information, and
voluntariness free from coercion, and undue influence (Young, Ch. 44). She has
fulfilled the requirements for competence because the care team acknowledges that
the patient recognizes that there is a decision that needs to be made, clearly
understands the information and treatment options, and the risks involved with each
decision (Orr, CBHD). There is no question that the patient understands and
appreciates the information because the care team is aware that she is able

Shaun Gunter BushidЕЌ: Honor Culture of Japan
Personal honor and behavior governed by a specific code are signature
characteristics of Japan s storied warrior scholars: the samurai. This code, known as
BushidЕЌ (literally Way of the Warrior ), governed a way of life that separated the
samurai from the rest of Japanese society. However, BushidЕЌ would, ultimately,
influence the entire nation. This paper examines the origins, functions, and impact of
BushidЕЌ in the context of samurai culture and contemporary Japanese thought. To

were the most prolific source of Bushido. Developed in China during the Spring

in Bushido: jen (humanism), i (loyalty), li (rituals, social norms), and chih (wisdom).
Confucianism concerned itself with the formulation and efficiency of a society
formed around proper human relationships, with a benevolent ruler of loyal subjects
