2. PROBLEM STATEMENT
• “Evaluate the impact of birthing ball exercises for management
of pain and progress of labour among primigravida women
admitted in labour ward at tertiary care teaching hospital.”
3. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
1.To assess the pre-interventional scores of pain and progress
of labour among primigravida women.
2.To evaluate the impact of birthing ball exercises for pain and
progress of labour among primigravida women in experimental
group.
3.To compare pre-test and post- test scores of experimental and
control group among primigravida women.
4. RESEARCH HYPOTHESES
• HYPOTHESES:
H1: Mean post-interventional pain scores in experimental group among
primigravida women will be significantly lower than pre-interventional
scores at 0.05 level of significance.
H2: Mean post-interventional progress of labour scores among
primigravida women in the experimental group will be significantly
higher than control group at 0.05 level of significance.
H3: Mean post interventional scores of pain among primigravida
women in experimental group will be significantly lower than control
group at 0.05 level of significance.
H4: Mean post interventional scores of progress of labour among
primigravida women in experimental group will be significantly higher
than control group at 0.05 level of significance.
5. • H01: There is no significant difference between experimental and control
groups with post-test scores of pain among primigravida women.
• H02: There is no significance difference between experimental and control
groups with post-test scores of progresses of labour among primigravida
women.
• H03: There is no significant difference between pre-test and post-test
scores of pain among primigravida women in experimental and control
groups.
• H04: There is no significant difference between pre-test and post-test
scores of progress of labour among primigravida women in experimental
and control groups.
6. INCLUSION CRITERIA
•The study includes primigravida women who will be:
Registered at Tertiary care hospital
In the age group of 21-30 years.
In the Gestational age of 37-40 weeks
With Cervical dilatation of 2 cm.
7. EXCLUSION CRITERIA
• Exclusion criteria:
• The study excludes primigravida women who will be::
Posted for Lower segmental caesarean section
With underline disease such as pregnancy induced
hypertension, Diabetes mellitus and others.
At term with no pain and high-risk condition
8. STUDY INSTRUMENT
• The tool is constructed and consists of following
parts-
• Part–I: Demographic profile.
• Part-ii: Modified numerical pain intensity scale
• Part–iii: WHO partograph
