Sarcastic Essays
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Sarcastic Essays" might seem like a walk in the park at first
glance, but delving into the intricacies of sarcasm and maintaining a consistent tone throughout
can be more challenging than anticipated. Sarcasm, with its nuanced blend of wit and irony,
requires a delicate touch to strike the right balance.
The difficulty lies not just in infusing the essay with humor but also in ensuring that the sarcasm
doesn't come across as offensive or misunderstood. Finding that sweet spot where the satire is
sharp enough to provoke thought but not too cutting to alienate the audience is a fine line to
walk.
Moreover, the challenge extends to choosing a topic worthy of sarcastic exploration. It should be
something with enough depth to provide substance for the humor, yet not so sensitive that it
risks causing discomfort. The process involves navigating through various subjects, testing the
waters of satire, and gauging the potential reactions of diverse readers.
Structuring the essay becomes another hurdle. Maintaining a coherent flow while incorporating
sarcastic elements in a way that complements the overall message requires careful planning and
execution. Each paragraph must contribute to the overarching theme, and the transitions should
be seamless to ensure the sarcastic tone doesn't feel forced or disjointed.
While the writing process might be an enjoyable exercise in wit, it demands a heightened level of
self-awareness. The author needs to constantly reassess whether the sarcasm serves the purpose
of the essay and whether the humor is enhancing rather than undermining the message.
In conclusion, composing a sarcastic essay is a challenging endeavor that requires a keen
understanding of the delicate art of satire. It involves choosing the right topic, striking the
perfect balance in tone, and skillfully weaving humor throughout the narrative. However, for
those seeking assistance or inspiration, a plethora of similar essays and more can be explored on

The mode is the midpoint of the interval that occurs most frequently.
a) mean

b) mode
Looking at the frequency column, we can see that the 4 5 interval occurs most often.
So, the mode is the midpoint of that interval, which is 4.5 . We could also say that
the modal interval is 4 5 .
c) median
The middle data value is between values 250 and 251. Both these data values occur in
the 4 5 interval (look at the Cumulative Frequency column).
So the median is 4.5, the midpoint of the 4 5 interval.

Middle School Students Allowance
Many students often feel bad about begging their parents for money. Guilt is an
emotion that is difficult to overcome. Middle school students should have an
allowance because chores will be completed, parents will save, and kids can save
their money. Students should have allowance because parents can charge students
per chore they do. Most parents can have students work and clean for money. It ll
teach students to do things on their own. After chores are done students can later on
relax and do anything else they need to do . Therefore chores will be a light task for
students and parents. Having money for students will save parents money. When
parents give their own children allowance, the children will have money of their own
to buy things.
The Non Citizen Asian Population Of Uganda
Imagine being given only 90 days to pick up your life and leave a place you call
home. The Non Citizen Asian population of Uganda was given only three months,
ninety days to be precise, to leave the country. Later Asians who were Ugandan
citizens were also expelled. Idi Amin s reasoning for expelling 60,000 Asians from
Uganda is still unclear. There are many theories put forth, but they remain mere
speculation. As a result of Idi Amin s erratic behavior, jingoism, and ruthlessness,
Uganda s economic ultimately suffered to this day from this act. In 1971, President
Idi Amin demanded a review of Uganda s Asian community citizenship. In August of
1972, he decreed that all Punjab Asians residing in Uganda must leave. The deadline

Eventually, this resulted in the Asians dominating the entire economy in post colonial
Uganda; ultimately creating tensions with the Africans. They had always been the
target of resentment in Uganda; once Amin came into power, he acted upon this
tension. Many erratic announcements in the span of a few days targeted various
groups. The first proclaimed, All Asians holding Indian, Pakistan, and Bangladesh
passports must leave. Few took this announcement seriously until Amin signed the
decreed. Many were astonished by this and did not want to believe it. This is because
when Amin came to power, he made the working conditions better and many of the
Asians who were in the business industry. Another announcement followed, adding,
All non citizen Asians, even those holding Kenyan, and Tanzanian passports must
leave. Again, many could not believe what was occurring. These announcements
were life shattering, especially when it was apparent to both the Africans and Asian
that Amin was serious. Next, came an announcement exempting professional Asians
from explosion, this was received with trepidation. This last announcement drove a
wedge between the Professional and non professional Asian communities. The
professionals opted to leave voluntarily. Yet another announcement proclaimed that
no matter Asian persuasion one claimed, he or she had to leave. All the back and
forth announcements added to the
Professional Liability Insurance In Nursing Essay
Professional Liability Insurance for Nurses
Many people do not ponder on the possibility of some form of malpractice or
misdiagnosis occurring during their time as patient. They put their trust solely in the
healthcare provider. More importantly nurses hardly ever consider being the one that
causes harm or the one whom neglects a patient, let alone misdiagnose a patient.
When entering the nursing field one needs to look at all options that will help protect
them from sustaining any loss. Many nurses in today s time are purchasing
profession liability insurance or more commonly known as professional indemnity.
Professional indemnity helps pay for expenses that occur during malpractice,
negligence, and misdiagnosis lawsuits.
The Oxford Shorter English Dictionary defines indemnity as security or protection
against contingent hurt, damage, or loss (Cornock, 2011, p. 25). Professional
indemnity is an agreement between a healthcare provider and an indemnity provider
that financial cost will be covered when a malpractice, negligence, or misdiagnosis
lawsuit is filed against the healthcare provider. Countless nurses take for granted the
benefits of having professional indemnity. Most nurses believe that he or she will not
need the protection of professional indemnity until it is too late (Cornock, 2011). In
2008 the average expense by accident year was approximately $45,000 for nurse
practitioners insured through CNA Healthpro. These expenses do not include fees for

Essay about Nine Inch Nails versus Johnny Cash
Which Version Of Hurt Would You Prefer?
Nine Inch Nails versus Johnny Cash The song Hurt written by Trent Reznor and
originally performed by his band Nine Inch Nails is a melancholy, haunting song.
Nine Inch Nails version was recorded in 1994 and rerecorded and released by
Johnny Cash in 2002. Each of the performers has a style, which some people would
argue is at opposite ends of the spectrum of popular music; one is what is referred to
as Industrial Rock , the other is country. Indeed, the musical genres are diverse;
however, the song Hurt transcends the boundaries between old and new, hard and
soft, and especially the differences and similarities between these men. Nine Inch
Nails is known for their industrial rock ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reznor is not only a performer; he regularly produces records for other artists ( The
Nine Inch Nails Wiki, 2012). The story goes that Cash s record producer, called
and asked Reznor for permission to cover the song Hurt . Sharples states, It was as
if Trent Reznor unconsciously wrote it for Mr. Cash (2011). Trent Reznor was
flattered that someone with Johnny s musical talent and long standing status in
the music world would even be interested in interpreting his song. When Trent first
heard the final copy of Johnny s version, Trent stated, . . .it felt like somebody
kissed your girlfriend ( The Nine Inch Nails Wiki, 2012). According to Sharples, it
would be some four months later that Trent and his music team would see Johnny s
video for the song. It was then that Reznor was flattered, honored, and moved to
tears by the results (2011). Reznor says. By the end I was really on the verge of
tears. There was, like, this moist clearing of our throats and then, Uh, OK, let s get
some coffee. (Sharples, 2011). After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Trent
became angry at the lack of response of the government. He had interest in New
Orleans because his studio was a place he perfected his sound and made music that
earned Platinum status in sales. Reznor played a benefit telethon concert to aid the
American Red Cross and sang the song Hurt with the lyrical changes made by Johnny
What Is Deja Vu Essay
DГ©jГ vu ..... could it be ?
This story takes place while I was driving home one evening.
Like usual, I was letting my mind wander past the cars beside me, and had begun
falling into a daydream state. I was pondering work, (which is not a thing to give
ponder after leaving, I dare say), when a peculiar thing happened.
Well, I can not say that it was a thing, but rather, a moment of time that revealed a
strange state of being.
Now, many people have had moments of deja vu. There are many explanations and
theories behind the events that unfold in our concious/subconcious minds during
these times of similar experience.
In my case, though, it was bordering on uncomfortably eerie, and amazingly
excitable, all at the same time.
While driving down the freeway, I had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There, on the right hand side of the road, were three cop cars, and in the center of
them....a man standing next to a green motorcycle.
To say I was freaked out by now would be an understatement. It was as if I had
spoken the event into existence.
Was this deja vu, or prophecy? I was perplexed, yet, quietly amazed with myself. I
tried to set up several other scenarios as I travelled along, but alas, I eventually pulled
into my driveway with no further events.
I slowly came to a stop beside my mailbox. I stared toward my home, up that long,
dusty, gravel road. The sun was now dipping slowly behind the hill that my home
sits on. The shadows were dancing in front of my house like young children just
released from school. I let my mind ponder the last half hour of time, then reached
over to open the mailbox.
There, lying almost deathly still on the very top, was a random coupon. The coupon
read something like this, Come and get it while the iron is hot...there is no moment
like the present. The next time you experience a sale like this, you will just be
experiencing deja vu....so hurry
Neil Postman s Amusing Ourselves To Death
A public disclosure, if properly executed, is used to introduce an issue in society and
address the problems with that specific problem. Neil Postman s novel Amusing
Ourselves to Death, successfully emphasizes the effect of media in our contemporary
society in the form of a public disclosure. Postman utilizes multiple writing techniques
to support his claims. Neil Postman s novel Amusing Ourselves to Death was written
to inform the modern day society as to how media, specifically television, has
negative effects on a persons everyday life by making a person virtually powerless
and turning the population into an audience. Postman uses an example of Aldous
Huxley to demonstrate that our society has been molded into one where the people
are too distracted by the media to examine their lives closer and understand that
they are virtually powerless. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us (2nd
page of Foreword). We, as a society, love television. We watch it when we are
bored, when we are tired, and even keep it on when conversations are being had as
background noise. Needless to say we love it. Postman uses this quote to show that
television, something that we love, is distracting... Show more content on

Everything comes with negatives. But it is much later in the game now, and
ignorance of the score is inexcusable. To be unaware that a technology comes
equipped with a program for social change, to maintain that technology is neutral, to
make the assumption that technology is always a friend to culture is, at this late
hour, stupidity plain and simple (Chapter 11 Page 5). It is extremely important to
acknowledge and understand that technology can drastically change a society. For the
purpose of this essay the technology is television and the change is our culture
valuing entertainment over substance, which is turning us into a nation who sits back

unlikely to see rivals of the current wars to be affected as well. It would take a
magnificent nitwit to put mindless confidence in a government agency like the
National Security Agency. Few would deny the importance of deploying surveillance

The History of Television Essay
History of television and its influence on people lives. How did television
revolutionize the world?
TV, more commonly known as television is one of the greatest inventions of the 20th
century. In ancient Greek tГЁle means far , and in Latin visio means sight. From my
perspective and many people of the world television has changed the way we live.
Television has brought many amazing things, however nothing is perfect.
Television sets were commercially available since the late 1920s but in very small
quantities. Since then television had become a bit more common in houses or
business institutions because of it s purposes. Which are entertainment, and news. In
the 1950s, television shaped public opinion among citizens. After the ... Show more

It was a breakthrough because it was the first one that would properly work. He
demonstrated this by using a Nipkow disk, the disk was segregated into three
sections, where each of those sections consisted of a spiral system with holes and
them being covered by green, blue and red filter. As the disk would rotate, it would
scan an image in all three colors, using all three systems with each turn of the disk
this would generate a full colored image.
Early electronic television Around 1930, it was seen that mechanical television
would never be able to produce a proper quality which could be used for
commercials and other programs. An electronic television needs a picture tube this
allowed to display the picture and an electronic camera tube was needed in order to
capture the image. Philo Farnsworth, produced images on his image dissector camera
tube in 1927. However, the image dissector required too much light to be practical for
television.
One of the first electronic television broadcasting began in England in 1936. This
was used for several years as BBC broadcasted 30 line mechanical television, by
using the Baird system. As stated above the Baird system used a mechanical camera
for filmed programming, and Farnsworth image dissector cameras for live
programming. After testing out both system it was an obvious decision for BBC to
use the all electronic.
In the united states, they realized the true potential of television. RCA introduced
The Five Concepts Of Marketing Tools And Online
Marketing
Task 3
3a Marketing communications are the means by which firms attempt to inform,
persuade, and remind consumers directly or indirectly about the products and brands
that they sell. (Kotler and Keller)
Offline marketing is the traditional way of doing marketing that does not involve the
use of the internet. The five elements of the marketing communication mix pertaining
to traditional marketing are;
Advertising Radio, TV, billboards, newspapers, cinema
PR and Events Press conferences and press releases, seminars, sponsorship of arts or
cultural events
Direct marketing Flyers, brochures, mail shots
Personal Selling Sales presentation, sales meetings, trade fairs
Promotion Buy one get one free, price off deals, samples, bonus packs
Whereas, the latest addition to the marketing communication mix is Digital
Marketing which includes methods of advertising or promotion using the internet
such as SEO, Google Adwords, Mobile Marketing, Email Marketing and Social
Media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube to name a few.
The table below portrays examples of Online Marketing Tools and Offline Marketing

For example email marketing is free of charge and contents can be adjusted
anytime. Whereas, direct mail material is expensive to produce and to deliver and
once printed contents cannot be amended. In regards to traditional media such as

gives you the advantage to run a campaign instantly and for the desired period at a
lower cost. It is also quicker and easier to make changes to adverts online than for
example in print advertising or in a TV commercial. Also, production costs are much

Analysis of the Theme of Survival in Auschwitz Essay
Survival in Auschwitz tells of the horrifying and inhuman conditions of life in the
Auschwitz death camp as personally witnessed and experienced by the author,
Primo Levi. Levi is an Italian Jew and chemist, who at the age of twenty five, was
arrested with an Italian resistance group and sent to the Nazi Auschwitz death camp
in Poland in the end of 1943. For ten terrible months, Levi endured the cruel and
inhuman death camp where men slaved away until it was time for them to die. Levi
thoroughly presents the hopeless existence of the prisoners in Auschwitz, whose
most basic human rights were stripped away, when in Chapter 2 he states, Imagine
now a man who is deprived of everyone he loves, and at the same time of his house,
his habits,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Chapter 6, Levi tells how Kapos, beat us from pure bestiality and violence, but
others beat us when we are under a load almost lovingly, accompanying the blows
with exhortations, as cart drivers do with willing horses (67). A further aspect of
Survival in Auschwitz that reinforces the dehumanizing effect of the death camp
on the Jewish prisoners is the constant presence of hunger and starvation among
the prisoners. Food and its acquisition and consumption are a constant topic that
Primo Levi discusses because it constantly occupied the minds of most prisoners.
Levi states, We have learnt the value of food; now we also diligently scrape the
bottom of the bowl after the ration and we hold it under our chins when we eat
bread so as not to lose the crumbs (33). Bread and soup are the only things
prisoners in the camp receive and whether you are served soup from the top or the
bottom is of great importance. The prisoners would try to get soup from the bottom
half of the vat because soup from the upper portion is mostly watery broth whereas
soup from the bottom portion contains more vegetables pieces (33). The insatiable
desire for food would lead prisoners to act in very animalistic ways. Upon waking up
in the morning, prisoners would quickly make their beds and then run to the latrines
urinating while they run to save time, because within five minutes begins the

How Our Gender is Imposed on Us
What makes us who we are? Is it the clothes we wear or the toys we played with

and I d agree. But if you really think hard about what makes you, YOU, then you d

my life to see what made me the masculine person I am today. I can remember back

I used to get into a lot of trouble while I was young. I got hit with a belt quit a bit.
One time I did something and lied about it to my father, and he asked me a question;
he said, well you can either stand in the corner or you can take it like a man and get
the belt. So I decided to take the belt. I m not really sure why, I guess I thought that
it would ve looked better on my part. It was a way of showing that I could take it

While I was in elementary school, I can picture all the events the boys would do at

The Rise Of Music In The Late 70 s And 80s
People in the late 70 s and 80 s have both happy and frustrating memories about the
cassette tape. This era of adolescents spent hours creating mix tapes to have their
favorite songs on one tape instead of having constantly switch out tapes for different
songs. This made the sharing of music more personal, important, and meaningful
because one would want the perfect tape. However, once the compact disc
commonly known as the CD released in the early 1980 s (Downes 1) people were
not aware of how it will affect this culture of mix tapes and love for music. As the
80 s ended, also did the era of the cassette. The end of this era started in 1983, where
the sales of the compact disc reached 800,000 worldwide sales, and officially ended
in 1990, where sales reached one billion sales (Downes 1). This demised caused the
rise of the CD and what it brought. What the compact disc brought was better sound,
made it easier to produce and record music, and destroyed the... Show more content

As the compact disc was getting more and more popular, this connection with
music and people was being lost. The people who were born in the late 70 s lived
with tapes, both video and audio, personal radios, and saw the development of the
CD s and the mp3 file. These are the people, the teenagers, that were most affected
by the cassette disruption. These are the people who spent days, in total hours,
mixing tapes to share with others and to have for themselves. These total hours
create a long list of memories that they share to this day (Bolin 7 8). Gӧran Bolin,
a professor at Södertörn University, Sweden, did a study and wrote a journal
called Passion and Nostalgia in Generational Media Experiences , and within it he
interviews three focus groups. The last focus group was the people born in the late

Bayonet Charge Essay
The poem, Bayonet Charge , was written in 1957 by Ted Hughes (1930 1998).
Hughes had grown up in the countryside in Yorkshire, consequently nature had a big
impact on his life and he had included many natural characteristics in his poetry.
Hughes was heavily influenced by his father, who was a veteran of the First World
War, as well as his interest in Wilfred Owen s poetry. Furthermore Hughes served in
the RAF, which perhaps could have inspired him to write Bayonet Charge. As Hughes
was not alive during the duration of WWI, he steps inside the body of a patriotic
soldier fighting in the war instead, and expresses his emotions and thoughts in the
form of a narrative poem. The poem revolves around the immense conflict between
Britain and Germany during WWI (1914 18), in addition there is a personal
conflict with the soldier himself as he makes the vital choice of risking his life by
going on the front line, this denotes the extent of fear the soldier is suffering from
and the terror[s] of combating on the battlefield. The poem is set in a field of clods

Although the poem focuses on one anonymous soldier, this soldier could represent
the numerous men who gave their lives in the war. Fronting is used at the
beginning of Bayonet Charge , when the poet states that suddenly [the soldier]
awoke , this implies that the poet wants to emphasise that as soon as the soldier
awoke, he had woke up from the nightmares of war to the harsh reality of fighting.
The poet s choice of using raw toward the end of the first line, connotes that the
soldier is inexperienced and is not prepared for war, which leads to the conclusion
that he had perhaps he had enlisted for war under aged , therefore the soldier
portrayed in the poem seems weak and vulnerable as he is
The Effects Of Climate Change On The Planet
The effects of climate change have become more apparent than ever within the last
100 years. Increasing climates have been proven; with the warmest temperatures in
30 years being recorded (Houghton, 1994). Suggested cause of this increase is
population change, the ever increasing demand for natural resources to sustain
economic growth has resulted in exploitation of ecological systems at a rate never
recorded before. These huge changes to the planet will have a knock on effect to
individual and global ecosystems resulting in varying levels of positive feedback.
Throughout this essay I will be discussing on various ways climate changeeffects the
ecology of the planet.

Evidence such as the rising of sea level by 17cm in the last century or the 150

The Carbon Cycle consists of the vital components for all animal and plant lives. It
is primarily a reflection on primary and secondary production (Krebs, 2009). As
seen in Figure 2, carbon levels have not been constant throughout history. Figure 3
represents the basic components of the Carbon cycle. The diagram shows that the
oceans are the largest sink of carbon, and is at a constant equilibrium of
atmospheric CO2 and aqueous CO2. The increase in atmospheric CO2 levels
causes ocean acidification by decreasing the pH of the oceans. PH values are said
to have dropped by 0.1pH units since pre industrial levels and are expected to drop a
further 0.3 units by the end of the 20th century (Scott C Doney, 2007). This chemical
change will have knock on affects in many marine ecosystems, which will be
discussed later.
However, there are positive results of the rapid increase of CO2 in relation to plants

this is results from 3,586 separate

Research Paper On Penguins
Describe:
The Emperor Penguin lives in Antarctica on the Antarctic ice surrounded by very
cold water. They are the largest Penguin to live with an average height of 45 and
weigh on an average of 66lb. They are also considered the most beautiful of all
penguins that live right now. The Emperor Penguinhas big heads, thick necks,
wedged shaped tail, and tiny flipper like wings. They feed on fish, squid, krill, and
cephalopods where they catch it by diving into the ocean up to 700 feet. They
remain under the water for about 18 minutes while finding food. Both male and
female penguins look very much alike with the same colors and same size. To
identify them, you would have to check their behavior to see which one is a male or
female. The female ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the penguins form new pair bonds each year, which means that they mate
with another penguin each breeding season. There is a study that says only about
14.6% pair of penguins stay with the same mate each year. The male penguin
arrives to their nest before the female penguin does. Since there are more female
penguins than male penguins, there will be major competitions to get a female.
To attract females, the male penguin will stand still, put their head on their chest,
inhales, and give out a courtship call. They keep this position for a few seconds
before moving to another position. To nest, both penguins travel to a colonial
nesting area at around March or early April and lay a single egg in May or early
June. The single egg weighs about 460 or 467g. Once they lay an egg, the male
penguin is in charge of incubating the egg while the female penguins go back to
an area to obtain food. The job of the male penguin is to keep the egg protected
from any danger and they also have to keep the egg between their legs so that it
can be warm. If the egg is exposed to the cold, the egg and baby penguin will die
rapidly due to the severe temperature of the Antarctic. It takes about 64 days for the
egg to hatch and the age of the fledging is about 150 days. Once the egg hatches, the
female penguin comes back from bringing food to the nesting area. The male penguin

Sociologist Career Research Paper
Sociologist study society, social behaviors, and this also includes culture. There are
number of options for sociologists when it comes to jobs. Sociology is not the
largest field, but it does is a unique one. Sociologists study culture, which has always
been a field and has many aspects such as tv, media, and politics. The sociologists of
the world also study people and the groups that they form. Sociologyis the area that
sociologists go into when they go into secondary teaching. Sociologists earn about
seventy nine thousand dollars per year.
The Bureau of Labor Services defines sociologists job as, Sociologists study society
and social behavior by examining the groups, cultures, organizations, social
institutions, and processes that develop when people interact and work together.
On average sociologist make $79,750 per year and $38.34 per hour, according to
Bureau of Labor Services. This above average of people who have an advanced
degree. People with advanced degrees on average make seventy two thousand dollars
per year. To become a Sociologist you must have a Masters in sociology.

Pine Trees of Georgia
There are pine trees just about everywhere in Georgia. Pine trees have always been
important resources to people in North America. Native Americans used pine trees as
treatments for respiratory conditions and to build items such as canoes or buildings.
Today, pine trees are one the most important timber sources in North America. Pine
trees belong to a group of trees known as the conifers, meaning the trees have cones
and needle like or scale like leaves. There are about seven very common types of pine
trees found in Georgia that grow in several different environments from the
Appalachian Mountainsall the way to the coast. Over many years pine trees have
adapted to these very diverse environments. The Eastern White Pine is found in
Georgia through the mountains and the upper Piedmont. These types of pine trees
grow best in moist areas, such as near a river, or in areas that have a lot of hardwood
trees as well. They can be recognized by their leaves, which look like needles and
grow in bundles of five. The Eastern White Pine is known as one of the largest
pines in Georgia. Historically these trees grew to be up to 175 feet tall but now in
recent years only grow to about 100 feet in height. This type of pine is also a rapid
grower. An Eastern White pine can reach forty feet in about twenty years, which is
relatively fast for a tree. Another type of pine tree found in Georgia is the Loblolly
Pine. The Loblolly Pine can be found throughout the state, but is most common in the

Chinese Mothers
Why Chinese Mothers are superior
Every parent wants to be proud of their children, to see them succeed in school,
music, sports or whatever path they may choose. The professor and the author Amy
Chua wrote the essay Why Chinese mothers are superior , where she tries to
compare western parents to Chinese mothers and their different methods of raising
children. Plenty of the people reading this essay may get the wrong idea and
misunderstand, when Amy Chua tries to present Western parents as bad parents who
don t know how to raise successful children. This is not her intension with the essay.
Amy Chua emphasizes in her article that Chinese parents are good and capable at
raising stereotypically successful children. (p. 1 l. 11). The ... Show more content on

In almost the beginning of the essay Amy Chua appeals to logos when showing the
studies. By appealing to logos, she s trying to convince the reader, that she knows
what she is talking about and have a great understanding about the topic.
The concept Chinese mothers have become common property in the USA in very
short time. It s obviously because Amy Chua and her philosophy about parenting, hits
a sore point in the Americans consciousness. Amy Chua s essay isn t a how to raise a
successful child guide, but it is an informing essay that mentions the nuanced
examples between two cultures on how to raise successful children. You can discuss
whether life is all about being successful and being perfect in many ways, because the
reader might hold on the question So what about happiness? , as it hasn t even one
time been mentioned in the essay. The wondering of this matter lies within the
historical perspective, the different societies, generations and traditions that haven t
changed. Important is to remember that these conflicts and disagreements on how to
raise children do not only revolve around China, where some people in general might
use methods which seems strange and unlikely. Same goes for USA, the many
cultural perspectives and the whole world.
The Lady Of Shalott Essay
Among the multiple tempting Pre Raphaelites paintings, The Lady of Shalott of
1888 by John William Waterhouse (1849 1917) fascinates me the most. John
William Waterhouse was a romantic artist that has a strong love with beautiful but
tragic female figures. The Lady of Shalott as one of his best known painting
illustrated part IV of great poet Tennyson s poem of a young Victorian woman s
cursed life.
The poem tells a mythical story of a beautiful woman who lives isolated on the island
called Shalott, on a river which flows downstream from King Arthur s castle reaching
the town Camelot. The lady of Shalott was imprisoned in the four grey towers and
had never been seen by anyone, yet many have heard of her lovely singing. She lives
upon an undisclosed curse that banned her from looking out of her window down to
the Camelot. Therefore, day by day she weaves this colorful and magical netting in
her tower and only gazes through the reflection of reality through her mirror. One
day, upon seeing a gorgeous looking knight called Sir Lancelotpasses by the river,
the lady of Shalott cannot resist but to turn around and take a glimpse at the man.
With that one glance, the mirror cracks and the curse befalls her. The painting was
the visualization of her last living moments toward her tragic death. She wears a
snowy white rove and sings her last song as she sails down to the Camelot to chase
after the knight. She sings until her blooded is frozen and her eyes darken, yet she

Upgrading Data Communication At The Classroom
Upgrading data communication in the classroom would be an appropriate
technological advantage because research indicates that broadband and cloud
computing are transforming education. The outdated teaching tools that we grew up
with (i.e. chalkboards and hardback books) are now being replaced with interactive
digital content delivered through high speed broadband using blackboard and e
books. This means elementary school students can explore the surface of the sun
through high definition video as they learn about the solar system. Furthermore,
middle schoolchildren can experience history lessons through interactive videos and
high schoolstudents can discover geometry through gaming (Robyler, M. D. Edwards,
J., 2000, p. 79). Consequently, accessing broadband for digital learning is a necessity
for students to have a chance to compete in todays technological society. From a
pedagogical standpoint, updating communications in the classroom creates an
environment of enrichment and engages students actively in the learning process.
Upgrading the data communications in the classroom from a programmatic
perspective enables students and teachers to quickly access the database, monitor
seismographic data, and establish electronic pen pals in Latin America (Picciano,
2011, p. 110).

In Response To The Globalization Of Superficiality Analysis
In his 2010 speech, Rev. Adolfo NicolГЎs, S.J., Superior General of the Society of
Jesus, said In response to the globalization of superficiality, I suggest that we need to
study the emerging cultural world of our students more deeply and find creative ways
of promoting depth of thought, and imagination, a depth that is transformative of the
person.
Fr. NicolГЎs is reminding us to take a step back when learning new information. He
is reminding us to stand above the flood of information we experience faster and after
due to new technology. He stresses the need for thought out information over fast
information. The globalization of superficiality refers to this widespread trend of
disconnection between well thought out human interaction. Father NicolГЎs is
stressing the importance of considering sources and form our own analyses. But his
concern stretches even deeper, to the way young people are using technology to hide
from the world and connection with others. He is calling for Jesuit education to
encourage deeper evaluation and participation of life s experiences.
Computer Science is a rapidly growing field, not only in the US but all over the
world. Through a semester abroad I hope to learn more about the world as well as
how CS is growing overseas. Father NicolГЎs addressed how technology has
increased the stresses access to information as fast as possible, over the quality of the
information.
Both through technology as my chosen field but also away from the world of zeros
and ones.
Although Father NicolГЎs is describing technology as the driving force behind the
globalization of superficiality, I want my experience abroad to increase how I use my
information to expand my depth of thought and imagination and use my computer
skills to help others do so too. Father NicolГЎs mentions a pedagogy of Ignatian
contemplation, how Ignatius asked us to look at all our senses when responding to a
new experience. I can employ this method to my new experiences while studying
abroad, in my studies toward my major and in exposure to another culture. Father
NicolГЎs is reminding us to stop and smell the roses when experiencing new things,
to take time to connect with others and our present surroundings. I fully intend
The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Role Play Activity

things such as warranty that are found in (ESLGold, 2010). This activity will help
them to know the right place of each discourse and give them an opportunity to

In simulations, 1st year EFL learners could bring items to the class to create a
realistic environment. For instance, if a learner is acting as a singer, she brings a
microphone to sing and so on. Role plays and simulations have many advantages.
First, since they are entertaining, they motivate the learners. Second, as Harmer
(2001, p. 275) suggests, they increase the self confidence of hesitant learners,
because in role play and simulation activities, they will have a different role and do
not have to speak for themselves.
Storytelling
First year EFL Learners could create their own stories to tell their classmates or
summarize a tale or story they heard from somebody else. Story telling could help
learners developing creative thinking and to know how to develop ideas from
introduction, body, and then conclusion without forgetting to include the characters
and the setting. Learners also can tell riddles or jokes. For instance, at the beginning
of each class, the teacher should call few learners to tell short riddles or jokes as an
opening. In this way, he will not only address their speaking ability but getting the
attention of the class.

Japan s Impact On Japan
Introduction: The 2011 Japan Earthquake was one of the most destructive
earthquakes that the area had experienced in centuries. Earthquakes regularly impact
Japan due to the nearby subduction zone under the northwestern Pacific Ocean. This
is where the Pacific and North American tectonic plates meet, which ultimately causes
frequent seismic activity. The 2011 earthquakeis the 5th largest recorded since 1900
worldwide, and is classified as a 9.0 reverse fault mega thrust earthquake (Mantanle
823). What furthered the destructive ability of the earthquake was the upthrust and
subsidence, which generated a series of massive tsunamis that struck the coast of
Honshu. These tsunamis ravaged low lying coastal areas, which led to unmanageable
flooding and the meltdown of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear PowerPlant. Japan
relies heavily on nuclear power; therefore this became detrimental to local residents
and industries relying on this power source. Japan has proved itself somewhat
capable to combat biophysical vulnerability with resilience. Japan has employed
numerous structural and non structural measures to minimize losses for future
hazards. Furthermore, Japan is considered to be one of the world s most successful
democracies, and has one of the largest economies. The preparedness of Japan is
what reduces vulnerability and probability of risk for future hazardous events,
specifically earthquakes (Cutter 530). On a local level, the 2011 Japan earthquake is
significant because
Teaching Information And Pass It Across Our Current
Society
The passion to teach information and pass it along to new, younger generations is one
that is quickly diminishing in our current society. Each new generation that comes
along into schools has an increasingly bad outlook on actually learning material, but
rather just wants the good grade. This attitude in the classroom affects teachers, who
are there to be teaching information, not babysitting ignorance. Teachers, they don t
get paid well. This is becoming a known fact. Many teachers now only teach if it is a
true passion because the money is not there. Although many states have priorities to
certain elements that benefit their economy, educationneeds to become a priority
along with teachers who deserve to be paid more for their crucial impact they have
on this country s future generations to come who will one day be running this
country. Many states have economies that run off of a major source of income that
the economy of that state needs to stay going. Oklahomafor example, has major
involvement in the oil and energy industry which brings in a large amounts of
income for the state, as well as provides a large number of jobs to the residents of
Oklahoma. The state budget of Oklahoma goes largely to oil and energy corporations
because of their great importance to the state. The current situation in Oklahoma is
the fall of oil prices, and lack of emphasis on education. Although education is
important, keeping the economy afloat is also important, and in this case, it is

The Eyes Of Mahatma Gandhi, Harriet Tubman, And
Oprah
Are human rights prominent enough to be defended? In the eyes of Gandhi,
Harriet Tubman, and Oprah, they are. Gandhi was a man who wanted to end racial
justice in all parts of the world, while Harriet Tubman wanted to help guide the
slaves from the South to the North so that they can live a free life. However, instead
of taking a more direct approach, Oprah Winfreyused a public method. These three
passionate individuals stood up to enact change by fighting for human rightsand
staying persistent and determined. Mahatma Gandhi enacted change by striving to
end racial injustice. He did this to show that anyone of any race or religion should
have equal rights. According to Satyagraha: Gandhi s Legacy , it states, Gandhi
developed his philosophy of Satyagraha, or resistance through non violent civil
disobedience to defend his rights and the rights of all Indians and non whites
(Studysync Editors). Gandhi himself had been faced with discrimination. However,
instead of ignoring the situation, Gandhi took a stand and did what was right to
ensure equality among all people. The Studysync Editors stay, As had been the case
in the southern United States, Indians and other non white people were forced to

decided to get his beliefs out by starting non violent protest. As the leader he was, he

Potiential Future Effects of Global Warming
Introduction Climate change is one the biggest threats to nature and mankind in the
21st century. The impacts of climate change are visible everywhere, whether it s
melting glaciers, rising sea level, severe storms, heavy flooding, reduced snowfall
in the north and a severe drought in the south. It will also have a number of effects
on the flora and fauna in the future. Scientists predict that global warming in the near
future may cause a mass extinction of wildlife, affecting more than 1 million
species, i.e. about a quarter of all kinds of currently known. World overheating
causes significant changes in climatic conditions and it can damage sensitive
ecosystems in which species live. Sea level rise is a potentially disastrous result of
climate change. Glaciers melt because of the rising temperatures and ocean waters
warm. Therefore, small island developing states and low lying coastal areas are
particularly vulnerable to sea level rise and climatechange. The more sea levels will
rise, the harder will be the situation for the coastal cities, and will be more
impressive to erosion prone coast. Moreover, coastal areas will be exposed to
impressive erosion. Coastal areas have an extremely high population density, since it
is a home to more than 50% of the population, generating over 70% of gross national
product. Moreover, the coastal zone is deeply integrated into the economy, even very
distant from the shore areas and stresses on coastal zones seriously
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Thin Film Deposition
Process
Thin film deposition is any technique for depositing a thin film of material onto a
substrate or onto previously deposited layers. thin is a relative term, but most
deposition techniques allow layer thickness to be controlled within a few nanometre
and some (molecular beam epitaxy) allow single layers of atoms to be deposited at
time. it is useful in the manufacture of optics for refractive or anti refractive coatings
for instance), electronics (layers of insulators, semiconductors form integrated
circuits) and packaging (i.e. aluminium coated film).thin filmcan be prepared from a
variety of materials such as metals, semiconductors, insulators etc., and for this
purpose various preparative techniques have also been developed and each method
has its own advantages and disadvantages. Thin film depositionprocess can be divided
into three basic steps:
1.Creation of film forming material (atoms, molecules, clusters).
2.Transport of the particles from source to the substrate.
3.Adsorption of the particles on the substrate and ... Show more content on

The rate of condensation of the vapours (or the deposition rate) depends not only on
the evaporation rate but also on the source geometry, its position relative to the
substrate, and condensation coefficient. The spatial distribution of the vapours
from different types of sources such as point, wire, small surface, extended strip,
cylinder, and ring has been calculated and discussed thoroughly by Holland. For the
ideal case of deposition from a clean, uniformly emitting point source onto a planar
substrate, the rate of deposition varies as cos Оё/r2 (Knudsen s cosine law), where r
is the radial distance of the substrate from the source and Оё is the angle between the
radial vector and the normal to the
What Was Galileo s Accomplishments
Success, is it determined on how you look, your health or your wealth? Galileo
was one of the most respected scientist in modern day science because of one
simple fact. The way you represent your work and represent yourself is what makes
up your success, but it starts with you. I once heard somewhere laziness is not
attractive and that you ve got to work towards your goals and this is a story about
someone on pushed these things to the extreme. Making revolutionary discoveries
that some only dreamed of Galileo did extraordinary things and pushed the limit of
science.

Compare And Contrast The Coquette And Wieland
Fear in the Great American Novel
In the 1700 s, the older generation of Americans was dedicated to making young
people into moral, upright citizens. Books, magazines, and poetry were written to
influence the readers toward morality, often by presenting unfavorable consequences
if not obeyed. These kinds of texts were written in response to the growing
apprehension Americans had toward anything unfamiliar or new. The Coquette and
Wieland: or, The Transformation are two novels that display the worry and fear that
plagued America during the time. In The Coquette, Hannah Webster Foster focuses
on the fear of promiscuity, especially among women. Wieland by Charles Brockden
Brown explores the fear of the alien. Though they focus on different anxieties, each
gives important insight into what American life was like and the major issues of the
time.
In The Coquette, Hannah Webster Foster addresses the 18th century fear of
promiscuity. The main character, Eliza, meets Major Sanford, a charming yet
manipulative man who vies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Eliza meets Boyer and Sanford, each seeks to win her affection, even though
she admits marriage isn t appealing to her. For the time, this was abnormal. Women
were expected to marry early on and give up most of their autonomy to fulfill the
role of wife and mother. Just by exploring her options, Eliza goes against what was
expected for 18th century women. When she finally does choose to marry Boyer,
he decides that he is sick of waiting and that he does not trust her around other men
such as Sanford. Here, Foster seems to argue that if Eliza had made her decision
sooner, she would have avoided this fate. On a larger scale, The Coquette emphasizes
the gender norms of the time. Women who read the book will feel pressure to
marry so that they do not have the same fate as Eliza. At a time when the fear of
promiscuity was so prevalent, this book served as a way to enforce traditional
Black Cat Consequences
The Consequences Behind Bloodshed
In his short story The Black Cat, Edgar Allan Poe uses the drastic changes in one s
mind by drinking alcohol and the pressure of guilt to create an unreliable narrator,
because it can easily modify the narrator s judgement towards his cat, Pluto. Before
the narrator starts drinking, he loves animals and contain a variety of them in his
house. Right after the addiction of alcohol, the narrator physically and verbally
abuses his pets, which causes one night, returning home, much intoxicated, from one
of [his] haunts about town, [he] [fancy] that [Pluto] [avoids] [his] presence (Poe 5).
The narrator is drunk and misinterprets the cat s thinking towards himself, because he

The Importance Of A Good Society Is Not Achieved By
Chance...
The quantitative analysis of the merit of a society is one very multifaceted and
complex task; however, one truth remains certain: a good society is not achieved by
chance or by default. Each and every successful society has succeeded because at a
certain point, members of the society acted collectively to create structure and
organization. Universities and institutions, transportation networks, and public
healthcare, are all structures that have been put in place to help individuals succeed
in various areas. From Travels of a T shirt in the Global Economy, it is evident that
without necessary trade, negotiations, and boundaries, the millions of T shirts
produced would not be able to flow across global communities, bringing alongside
them countless job opportunities, more effective governance systems, and enhanced
research and innovations. Clearly, one of the key aspects of a good functioning
society is the establishment of good and effective structures. While the best form of
that structure can be debated, the fact that a good society needs structure and
organization is a fixed and fundamental condition. In order for this structure to
provide a foundation of a good society, there are a few other conditions that must
follow among them are attentiveness to all members of the society, commitment to
universal values, and flexibility to change and adapt. In addition to structure, a good
society is one that works to help all members thrive, especially individuals at the
A Reflection On Strategic Leadership
A Reflection in Strategic leadership
Before coming to USAWC I think that my experience and knowledge gained during
the twenty five years of service is an important quality to possess. At one point I
thought: A few years until retirement, and probably no special secrets for me to
discover during academic year. I can only confirm what I know, gained some new
knowledge and meet a bunch of interesting people before returning home . Much to
my surprise, already after the first reading and discussion at the seminar, made me
realize that this will be more interesting than I had hoped.
The first lessons were related to leadership and I was wondering what s new here. I
thought I knew a theory about leadership. After all, I am an author of a ... Show more

The episode refers to the general s prediction of events in the prelude of the collapse
Soviet Union. The decisive moment in the modern history in which the general was
up to the task as a strategic advisor of president Bush, was when he anticipated needs
for U.S. military downsizing . Reading the book I was reminded of dramatic
moments in the process of transformation of the SAF. I experienced something
similar at the beginning of my work on the strategic level in SAF. I have become a
general staff officer at the time of intense and radical changes in the military. The
changes in the strategic environment were enormous, the state and whole society
emerged from one paradigm and created the conditions for the functioning
differently than in the past. All this is supposed to follow the doctrinal thought at
the highest level. Head of The Training and Doctrine department in SAF at that
time was experienced and well educated two stars general who was able to
recognized the issue with changing the military thoughts. He gathered a small team
composed of majors and lieutenant colonels, defined intent and gave us a total
freedom of action to develop first draft on new keystone doctrinal document. For us
it was amazing, great opportunity but also great responsibility. First time in my
military career I had had full scale of freedom of action. In front of us there was
nothing but blank paper and given legal and strategic framework. Making
Delta and The Future of The Airline Industry Essay
IV.The Future of the Airline Industry
The Airline Industry is in an interesting situation. Simply adding a low cost
alternative is not enough in the industry. The Internet has made the power of buyers
grow with the transparency of ticket prices. This is not something that will change
any time soon. Because of this profitability is predominately reserved for low cost
yet distinctive carriers. No consumer wants to ride what they consider a lesser airline.
Airlines need a way to distinguish themselves from one another while also
acknowledging the increased power of buyers. The future of the industry is in
JetBlue s cheap chic style. Airlines need to maintain a cost effective price point while
also not appearing cheap. Small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through similar mergers in the 1980s and 1990s, Delta extended its reach into trans
continental and international markets (Rivkin 7 8). According to its stated position
today,
Delta Air Lines serves more than 160 million customers each year. With an industry
leading global network, Delta and the Delta Connection carriers offer service to 356
destinations in 65 countries on six continents. (Delta.com).
The result of this objective is the third largest commercial carrier in the world, having
a strong presence in major hubs such as Atlanta, Dallas, Cincinnati, and Salt Lake
City (Rivkin 8).
As with all airlines, Delta s recent performance has been significantly impacted by
industry shifts and external events. Terrorist attacks and escalating costs have
significantly impacted Delta s profitability in recent history (Rivkin 4). The company
has also been losing valuable market share to the low cost carrier Southwest Airlines
throughout the southeast and specifically in the lucrative Florida market (Rivkin 8).
JetBlue also began encroaching on key Delta routes, and this seems only likely to
increase (Rivkin 9). Despite this, Delta has still performed better than any other
legacy carrier (Rivkin 8). Still, recent history has brought several changes to this
legacy carrier, and the company has turned its attention towards new competitive
strategies.

Letter From Birmingham Jail And Nonviolent Protests
Essay
Letter from Birmingham jail and Nonviolent Protests
In Martin Luther King Jr s Letter from Birmingham jail , King talks about his
imprisonment for his involvement in a nonviolent protest and defends his rights and
moral grounds for organizing nonviolent protest activities. In this essay, I will look at
his views on nonviolent protest and how they differ from todays violent protests. To
understand King s views on nonviolent protest, I will start by summarizing some of
the main points in his Letter from Birmingham jail . In spite of the fact that the
Letter is verifiably worried with justice all through, King likewise addresses the
question specifically at a few focuses. In actuality, he places that justice maintains
the poise of the human soul, while injustice conflicts with it. By talking about this
idea by and large, he builds up criteria by which to obscurely assault both
segregation and silence it. He at last suggests that the man who sees injustice and
does nothing to stop it is acting unjustly also. Taking after this thought, he contends
that laws must be permeated with an ethical sense so as to be just; as such, law and
morality can not be viewed as independent interests or areas. The best way to really
enact change and help humankind rise above its confinements is to act with as well
as grasp extremism . According to Mott, That this action had been termed extreme
King admits initially disappointed him. But King decides that if loyalty to good
principles

finding this abrupt news Henry stormed out of his wife and ran of to one of to a
familiar place for him, The Ritz Carlton, After going to the Ritz he allegedly found
out from one of his former colleagues that Henry was also cheating on his wife with
his colleague. Later, realizing his wrongdoing Henry went back home to apologize
to his wife. In this section of the movie Henry s superego came out and showed
part of his mind and attitudes about what is right and wrong and to his feeling of
guilt/sympathy towards the situation. Secondly, Henry showed his more complex
superego by pulling his daughter out of the magnet school. In this scene of the
movie Henry realizes that it is time to turn his life back around so, he decides to
pull his daughter out of a magnet school that doesn t accept many children, to make
up from lost time he has spent working and missing eleven years of her life. This

showing the feeling of guilt that sunk in when he realized how much time he
Detroit Is Not A Blank Canvas
Some people believe that Detroit is comparable to a blank canvas. A place where an
opportunity is lurking right around the corner. They imagine it as a deserted place, in
which a businessman can create anything they dream of. However, the harsh reality
is, Detroit is not a blank canvas. It has been splattered with an era of prominence,
scribbled on with the invention of the automobile, and engraved with a history of
racism and corruption. Although much of Detroits glory has been stripped away, there
are still people who exist in the city s remnants. Actual people, with actual families,
actual homes, and actual lives. When outsiders talk about the city s revival, they are
often forgetting about these people, or the actual citizens of... Show more content on

There are many factors to point blame at when considering Detroit s failure. A city
that was dependent on manufacturing cars was bound to flounder when the
factories moved elsewhere. Tensions among races became prevalent throughout the
city, ending with whites moving into the suburbs. Corruption consumed the city s
government, and the leaders led the city into the ground. The aftermath of these
actions have been thrown upon the people who stayed in the city of Detroit. These
people are living in unsafe conditions due to the fact crime rates are so high, and
the police presence is so scarce. The children are apart of a failing education
system; the foundation of the buildings aren t up to public health code, they have
limited resources, and a lack of teachers willing to work. When talking about the
future of Detroit, where does one see the future for these people? Why is there a
new hockey arena being built, while the deteriorating schools are being left to fall
apart? Large sums of money are being poured into the city s assets, but the investors
are forgetting the most important asset of Detroit, it s people.
When talking about the endless opportunities Detroit has to offer, one common plan
is the idea of Detroit becoming a tourist city. Investors view downtown as a diverse
entertainment district, with an array of theatres, museums, casinos
Summary Of Cimorene s Dealing With Dragons
In Dealing with Dragons , Cimorene is not the princess she s expected to be. Due
to this, her contemptuous behavior eventually left home for another life that may
be more genial. Cimorene had the right to leave her monotonous life for another
one because she was treated unfairly and now allowed to do things she couldn t,
have a different lifestyle, and endless opportunities laid out for her. First off, she
could do things a princess wasn t normally allowed to do and wouldn t have the
restraints that her parents and her role as a princess had. For example, the lessons
she had had to take to learn the proper behavior of a princess (p.2), along with the
fact that she wasn t allowed to participate in the activities she wished. These problems

Morwen set off to stop Woraug, the insolent and malevolent dragon, and the
wizards from taking both the Caves of Fire and Night and the position as King of
Dragons. She and the group soon reveal them as thieves, whom had attempted

Kazul, the Mountains of Morning would have most likely been destroyed by
Woraug and the wizard s sinister and baleful schemes. (p. 200 201). Woraug was
caught and began to implore Kazul to not believe Cimorene and the others before
being reprimanded. Soon he transformed into a toad for acting unlike himself and
undragon like. The dilemma was solved and those involved parted ways and
continued to live the life of their choice. These were things she would not be able to

Essay on Different Types of Fermentations
Wine is an alcoholic drink that is formed from the fermentation of grapes or grape
juice. Wine can be made with other fruits but the true term of the word wine means
the fermentation of grapes. To make wine there are many chemical reactions that
have to take place in order for the wine to be drinkable. The process of making wine
involves a chemical reaction in which sugars are turned to alcohol and carbon
dioxide because of the microorganism of yeast. There are also many other chemical
processes that affect the outcome of the wine.
An alcohol is a compound that contains an OH group of some kind. For example
ethanol, which is produced in the fermentation process, contains an OH group which
can be seen in figure 1. Ethanol is also a part of ... Show more content on

Other yeast enzymes can make simple sugars out of disaccharides (double sugars),
which are found in certain organisms. (Discovery, 2014)
The yeast provides enzymes that breakdown the sugar molecules. An enzyme is a
catalyst that helps a reaction take place without undergoing any permanent change.
(SMITH, 2006) When the yeast is added to the wine it acts as a catalyst to change
the sucrose into fructose and glucose which is shown in the equation below.
According to (Ancira) glucose is the body s preferred energy source of sugar also
known as blood sugar, fructose is a sugar naturally found in fruits and vegetables
and sucrose is commonly referred to as table sugar which is produced from sugar
cane.

The yeast also holds another enzyme called zymase which is responsible for reacting
the glucose and fructose into ethanol and carbon dioxide which can be seen in the
equation below.

Because yeast is a living organism it has to be kept alive by using certain measures
of control. The yeast needs to be kept at a controlled and preferably low temperature
to keep it alive and to enhance the colours and flavours of the grapes and the clarity
of the wine by creating aromatic compounds from the skin and esters. (Human Touch

This painting was commissioned by Cardinal Matthew Contarelli, who provided
resources and specific guidelines for the decoration of a chapel based on scenes
from the life of Saint Matthew. The Calling of Saint Matthew shows the passage in
the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 9:9), when Jesus went into the custom house, saw
Matthew at his seat and called to him, Follow me . According to the Holy Scriptures,
Matthew rose and followed him.
The Calling of Saint Matthew can be divided into two parts. The figures on the
right form a vertical rectangle while those on the left create the horizontal chunk.
In this painting Jesus is situated standing on the right hand side of this painting
and is almost fully covered by the apostle Peter however is notable by his extended
hand. Christ is pointing towards Levi, a tax collector and is depicted as the highly
visible bearded man wearing a dark coloured beret. Levi is placed well to the left
hand side of this painting however the viewer s attention is drawn to him by the
hands of Jesus and Paul jointly pointing at him but also by the intensity of the light
shining on his face. The other figures that appear in this painting are similar if not
modelled by those persons in other of Caravaggio s works, such as Cardsharps painted
Media Influence Media
How does the media influence elections and politics
During the past 20 years, the media has experienced massive changes in terms of
the platforms it appears in as well as the audience it reaches. While traditional
forms of media such as newspapers, television, are considered to be more
controlled, with the newly occurring and vastly growing online media, information
reaches more people and in a rapid pace never seen before. This essay will describe
how new occurrences have gained media the power to actively re enforce (however
not to the extent of shaping) political public opinion.
Firstly, in order to understand the major influence that the media has on politics and
elections, one should understand what the term media includes. ... Show more content

And usually, once the public deems certain issues as of most importance, they are
quickly initiated to legislature. Going back to the Cold Warand Vietnam, we can see
how media coverage the Vietnam War inspired peace movement activists to take over
the streets and demand the withdrawal of foreign (mostly American) troops from
Vietnam.
Undeniably, political candidates and the media, have always had intense interactions.
The world of media and the world of politics have a symbiotic relationship ; without
the media politicians would find it extremely hard to make their voices heard, while
the media has a duty of encouraging democracy and people s involvement in
important matters, therefore media s involvement in the world of politics is inevitable.
Curran wisely said; Media owners and politicians are so interlocked (that) media
can t be independent (2002.) A.J. Liebling also expressed his disapproval with his
words; Freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one.
Certainly, the changes in technology have affected our attention spans and focuses.
News articles are becoming shorter and are often dominated by visual content. Big
fonts, bright and shocking pictures win more clicks , and it is not rarely that images
and videos of politicians/political events are the centre of intense discussion.
Research has shown that visual communication conveys
The Effects Of Exercise On Lungs

everyday lives, and I have always wondered how are lungs function. For my science
fair project, I want to learn everything there is to know about lungs and lung
capacity so I can help people when they have a question about that part of their body.
This topic interests me because I want to be a doctor in the near future. I believe that
learning more about the respiratory systemmay help explain how the lungs function.
The human respiratory system is made up of a series of body functions that make it
possible for you to inhale and exhale. A series of organs for inhaling oxygen, and

swimming, and cycling affect your lung capacity, other sports may not have the
same affect (Banar, Maura). Exercise can cause your heart and breathing rates to
increase, delivering fresh oxygen to the bloodstream, and more energy to the
muscles (The Effects of Exercise on Lung Capacity). The most effective workout
that encourages improvements in lung capacity is high intensity aerobic training,
which includes running and swimming (Banar, Maura). Lung capacity can also be
increased by regular aerobic workouts, but only by a minimum amount (The Effects

muscles can still thrive, allowing you to still increase lung capacity during physical

Sarcastic Essays. Sarcasm Analysis Using Conversation Context - ACL Anthology

  • 1. Sarcastic Essays Crafting an essay on the theme of "Sarcastic Essays" might seem like a walk in the park at first glance, but delving into the intricacies of sarcasm and maintaining a consistent tone throughout can be more challenging than anticipated. Sarcasm, with its nuanced blend of wit and irony, requires a delicate touch to strike the right balance. The difficulty lies not just in infusing the essay with humor but also in ensuring that the sarcasm doesn't come across as offensive or misunderstood. Finding that sweet spot where the satire is sharp enough to provoke thought but not too cutting to alienate the audience is a fine line to walk. Moreover, the challenge extends to choosing a topic worthy of sarcastic exploration. It should be something with enough depth to provide substance for the humor, yet not so sensitive that it risks causing discomfort. The process involves navigating through various subjects, testing the waters of satire, and gauging the potential reactions of diverse readers. Structuring the essay becomes another hurdle. Maintaining a coherent flow while incorporating sarcastic elements in a way that complements the overall message requires careful planning and execution. Each paragraph must contribute to the overarching theme, and the transitions should be seamless to ensure the sarcastic tone doesn't feel forced or disjointed. While the writing process might be an enjoyable exercise in wit, it demands a heightened level of self-awareness. The author needs to constantly reassess whether the sarcasm serves the purpose of the essay and whether the humor is enhancing rather than undermining the message. In conclusion, composing a sarcastic essay is a challenging endeavor that requires a keen understanding of the delicate art of satire. It involves choosing the right topic, striking the perfect balance in tone, and skillfully weaving humor throughout the narrative. However, for those seeking assistance or inspiration, a plethora of similar essays and more can be explored on HelpWriting.net. Sarcastic Essays Sarcastic Essays

The Non Citizen Asian population of Uganda was given only three months, ninety days to be precise, to leave the country. Later Asians who were Ugandan citizens were also expelled. Idi Amin s reasoning for expelling 60,000 Asians from Uganda is still unclear. There are many theories put forth, but they remain mere speculation. As a result of Idi Amin s erratic behavior, jingoism, and ruthlessness, Uganda s economic ultimately suffered to this day from this act. Next, came an announcement exempting professional Asians from explosion, this was received with trepidation. This last announcement drove a wedge between the Professional and non professional Asian communities. The professionals opted to leave voluntarily. Yet another announcement proclaimed that no matter Asian persuasion one claimed, he or she had to leave. All the back and forth announcements added to the
  • 8. Professional Liability Insurance In Nursing Essay Professional Liability Insurance for Nurses Many people do not ponder on the possibility of some form of malpractice or misdiagnosis occurring during their time as patient. They put their trust solely in the healthcare provider. More importantly nurses hardly ever consider being the one that causes harm or the one whom neglects a patient, let alone misdiagnose a patient. When entering the nursing field one needs to look at all options that will help protect them from sustaining any loss. Many nurses in today s time are purchasing profession liability insurance or more commonly known as professional indemnity. Professional indemnity helps pay for expenses that occur during malpractice, negligence, and misdiagnosis lawsuits. The Oxford Shorter English Dictionary defines indemnity as security or protection against contingent hurt, damage, or loss (Cornock, 2011, p. 25). Professional indemnity is an agreement between a healthcare provider and an indemnity provider that financial cost will be covered when a malpractice, negligence, or misdiagnosis lawsuit is filed against the healthcare provider. Countless nurses take for granted the benefits of having professional indemnity. Most nurses believe that he or she will not need the protection of professional indemnity until it is too late (Cornock, 2011). In 2008 the average expense by accident year was approximately $45,000 for nurse practitioners insured through CNA Healthpro. These expenses do not include fees for attorneys,
  • 9. Essay about Nine Inch Nails versus Johnny Cash Which Version Of Hurt Would You Prefer? Nine Inch Nails versus Johnny Cash The song Hurt written by Trent Reznor and originally performed by his band Nine Inch Nails is a melancholy, haunting song. Nine Inch Nails version was recorded in 1994 and rerecorded and released by Johnny Cash in 2002. Each of the performers has a style, which some people would argue is at opposite ends of the spectrum of popular music; one is what is referred to as Industrial Rock , the other is country. Indeed, the musical genres are diverse; however, the song Hurt transcends the boundaries between old and new, hard and soft, and especially the differences and similarities between these men. Nine Inch Nails is known for their industrial rock ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reznor is not only a performer; he regularly produces records for other artists ( The Nine Inch Nails Wiki, 2012). The story goes that Cash s record producer, called and asked Reznor for permission to cover the song Hurt . Sharples states, It was as if Trent Reznor unconsciously wrote it for Mr. Cash (2011). Trent Reznor was flattered that someone with Johnny s musical talent and long standing status in the music world would even be interested in interpreting his song. When Trent first heard the final copy of Johnny s version, Trent stated, . . .it felt like somebody kissed your girlfriend ( The Nine Inch Nails Wiki, 2012). According to Sharples, it would be some four months later that Trent and his music team would see Johnny s video for the song. It was then that Reznor was flattered, honored, and moved to tears by the results (2011). Reznor says. By the end I was really on the verge of tears. There was, like, this moist clearing of our throats and then, Uh, OK, let s get some coffee. (Sharples, 2011). After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Trent became angry at the lack of response of the government. He had interest in New Orleans because his studio was a place he perfected his sound and made music that earned Platinum status in sales. Reznor played a benefit telethon concert to aid the American Red Cross and sang the song Hurt with the lyrical changes made by Johnny
  • 10. What Is Deja Vu Essay DГ©jГ vu ..... could it be ? This story takes place while I was driving home one evening. Like usual, I was letting my mind wander past the cars beside me, and had begun falling into a daydream state. I was pondering work, (which is not a thing to give ponder after leaving, I dare say), when a peculiar thing happened. Well, I can not say that it was a thing, but rather, a moment of time that revealed a strange state of being. Now, many people have had moments of deja vu. There are many explanations and theories behind the events that unfold in our concious/subconcious minds during these times of similar experience. In my case, though, it was bordering on uncomfortably eerie, and amazingly excitable, all at the same time. While driving down the freeway, I had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There, on the right hand side of the road, were three cop cars, and in the center of them....a man standing next to a green motorcycle. To say I was freaked out by now would be an understatement. It was as if I had spoken the event into existence. Was this deja vu, or prophecy? I was perplexed, yet, quietly amazed with myself. I tried to set up several other scenarios as I travelled along, but alas, I eventually pulled into my driveway with no further events. I slowly came to a stop beside my mailbox. I stared toward my home, up that long, dusty, gravel road. The sun was now dipping slowly behind the hill that my home sits on. The shadows were dancing in front of my house like young children just released from school. I let my mind ponder the last half hour of time, then reached over to open the mailbox. There, lying almost deathly still on the very top, was a random coupon. The coupon read something like this, Come and get it while the iron is hot...there is no moment like the present. The next time you experience a sale like this, you will just be experiencing deja vu....so hurry
  • 11. Neil Postman s Amusing Ourselves To Death A public disclosure, if properly executed, is used to introduce an issue in society and address the problems with that specific problem. Neil Postman s novel Amusing Ourselves to Death, successfully emphasizes the effect of media in our contemporary society in the form of a public disclosure. Postman utilizes multiple writing techniques to support his claims. Neil Postman s novel Amusing Ourselves to Death was written to inform the modern day society as to how media, specifically television, has negative effects on a persons everyday life by making a person virtually powerless and turning the population into an audience. Postman uses an example of Aldous Huxley to demonstrate that our society has been molded into one where the people are too distracted by the media to examine their lives closer and understand that they are virtually powerless. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us (2nd page of Foreword). We, as a society, love television. We watch it when we are bored, when we are tired, and even keep it on when conversations are being had as background noise. Needless to say we love it. But it is much later in the game now, and ignorance of the score is inexcusable. To be unaware that a technology comes equipped with a program for social change, to maintain that technology is neutral, to make the assumption that technology is always a friend to culture is, at this late hour, stupidity plain and simple (Chapter 11 Page 5). It is extremely important to acknowledge and understand that technology can drastically change a society. For the purpose of this essay the technology is television and the change is our culture valuing entertainment over substance, which is turning us into a nation who sits back and lets people run the country the way they

TV, more commonly known as television is one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century. In ancient Greek tГЁle means far , and in Latin visio means sight. From my perspective and many people of the world television has changed the way we live. Television has brought many amazing things, however nothing is perfect. Television sets were commercially available since the late 1920s but in very small quantities. Since then television had become a bit more common in houses or business institutions because of it s purposes. Which are entertainment, and news. He demonstrated this by using a Nipkow disk, the disk was segregated into three sections, where each of those sections consisted of a spiral system with holes and them being covered by green, blue and red filter. As the disk would rotate, it would scan an image in all three colors, using all three systems with each turn of the disk this would generate a full colored image. Early electronic television Around 1930, it was seen that mechanical television would never be able to produce a proper quality which could be used for commercials and other programs. An electronic television needs a picture tube this allowed to display the picture and an electronic camera tube was needed in order to capture the image. Philo Farnsworth, produced images on his image dissector camera tube in 1927. However, the image dissector required too much light to be practical for television. One of the first electronic television broadcasting began in England in 1936. This was used for several years as BBC broadcasted 30 line mechanical television, by using the Baird system. As stated above the Baird system used a mechanical camera for filmed programming, and Farnsworth image dissector cameras for live programming. After testing out both system it was an obvious decision for BBC to use the all electronic. In the united states, they realized the true potential of television. RCA introduced

Analysis of the Theme of Survival in Auschwitz Essay Survival in Auschwitz tells of the horrifying and inhuman conditions of life in the Auschwitz death camp as personally witnessed and experienced by the author, Primo Levi. Levi is an Italian Jew and chemist, who at the age of twenty five, was arrested with an Italian resistance group and sent to the Nazi Auschwitz death camp in Poland in the end of 1943. For ten terrible months, Levi endured the cruel and inhuman death camp where men slaved away until it was time for them to die. Levi thoroughly presents the hopeless existence of the prisoners in Auschwitz, whose most basic human rights were stripped away, when in Chapter 2 he states, Imagine now a man who is deprived of everyone he loves, and at the same time of his house, his habits,... In Chapter 6, Levi tells how Kapos, beat us from pure bestiality and violence, but others beat us when we are under a load almost lovingly, accompanying the blows with exhortations, as cart drivers do with willing horses (67). A further aspect of Survival in Auschwitz that reinforces the dehumanizing effect of the death camp on the Jewish prisoners is the constant presence of hunger and starvation among the prisoners. Food and its acquisition and consumption are a constant topic that Primo Levi discusses because it constantly occupied the minds of most prisoners. Levi states, We have learnt the value of food; now we also diligently scrape the bottom of the bowl after the ration and we hold it under our chins when we eat bread so as not to lose the crumbs (33). Bread and soup are the only things prisoners in the camp receive and whether you are served soup from the top or the bottom is of great importance. The prisoners would try to get soup from the bottom half of the vat because soup from the upper portion is mostly watery broth whereas soup from the bottom portion contains more vegetables pieces (33). The insatiable desire for food would lead prisoners to act in very animalistic ways. Upon waking up in the morning, prisoners would quickly make their beds and then run to the latrines urinating while they run to save time, because within five minutes begins the

Hughes had grown up in the countryside in Yorkshire, consequently nature had a big impact on his life and he had included many natural characteristics in his poetry. Hughes was heavily influenced by his father, who was a veteran of the First World War, as well as his interest in Wilfred Owen s poetry. Furthermore Hughes served in the RAF, which perhaps could have inspired him to write Bayonet Charge. As Hughes was not alive during the duration of WWI, he steps inside the body of a patriotic soldier fighting in the war instead, and expresses his emotions and thoughts in the form of a narrative poem. The poem revolves around the immense conflict between Britain and Germany during WWI (1914 18), in addition there is a personal conflict with the soldier himself as he makes the vital choice of risking his life by going on the front line, this denotes the extent of fear the soldier is suffering from and the terror[s] of combating on the battlefield. The Carbon Cycle consists of the vital components for all animal and plant lives. It is primarily a reflection on primary and secondary production (Krebs, 2009). As seen in Figure 2, carbon levels have not been constant throughout history. Figure 3 represents the basic components of the Carbon cycle. The diagram shows that the oceans are the largest sink of carbon, and is at a constant equilibrium of atmospheric CO2 and aqueous CO2. The increase in atmospheric CO2 levels causes ocean acidification by decreasing the pH of the oceans. The outdated teaching tools that we grew up with (i.e. chalkboards and hardback books) are now being replaced with interactive digital content delivered through high speed broadband using blackboard and e books. This means elementary school students can explore the surface of the sun through high definition video as they learn about the solar system. Furthermore, middle schoolchildren can experience history lessons through interactive videos and high schoolstudents can discover geometry through gaming (Robyler, M. D. Edwards, J., 2000, p. 79). Fr. NicolГЎs is reminding us to take a step back when learning new information. He is reminding us to stand above the flood of information we experience faster and after due to new technology. He stresses the need for thought out information over fast information. The globalization of superficiality refers to this widespread trend of disconnection between well thought out human interaction. Father NicolГЎs is stressing the importance of considering sources and form our own analyses. But his concern stretches even deeper, to the way young people are using technology to hide from the world and connection with others. He is calling for Jesuit education to encourage deeper evaluation and participation of life s experiences. Computer Science is a rapidly growing field, not only in the US but all over the world. Through a semester abroad I hope to learn more about the world as well as how CS is growing overseas. • 33. Japan s Impact On Japan Introduction: The 2011 Japan Earthquake was one of the most destructive earthquakes that the area had experienced in centuries. Earthquakes regularly impact Japan due to the nearby subduction zone under the northwestern Pacific Ocean. This is where the Pacific and North American tectonic plates meet, which ultimately causes frequent seismic activity. The 2011 earthquakeis the 5th largest recorded since 1900 worldwide, and is classified as a 9.0 reverse fault mega thrust earthquake (Mantanle 823). What furthered the destructive ability of the earthquake was the upthrust and subsidence, which generated a series of massive tsunamis that struck the coast of Honshu. These tsunamis ravaged low lying coastal areas, which led to unmanageable flooding and the meltdown of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear PowerPlant. Japan relies heavily on nuclear power; therefore this became detrimental to local residents and industries relying on this power source. Japan has proved itself somewhat capable to combat biophysical vulnerability with resilience. Japan has employed numerous structural and non structural measures to minimize losses for future hazards. Furthermore, Japan is considered to be one of the world s most successful democracies, and has one of the largest economies. The preparedness of Japan is what reduces vulnerability and probability of risk for future hazardous events, specifically earthquakes (Cutter 530). On a local level, the 2011 Japan earthquake is significant because

  • 38. Potiential Future Effects of Global Warming Introduction Climate change is one the biggest threats to nature and mankind in the 21st century. The impacts of climate change are visible everywhere, whether it s melting glaciers, rising sea level, severe storms, heavy flooding, reduced snowfall in the north and a severe drought in the south. It will also have a number of effects on the flora and fauna in the future. Scientists predict that global warming in the near future may cause a mass extinction of wildlife, affecting more than 1 million species, i.e. about a quarter of all kinds of currently known. World overheating causes significant changes in climatic conditions and it can damage sensitive ecosystems in which species live. Sea level rise is a potentially disastrous result of climate change. Glaciers melt because of the rising temperatures and ocean waters warm. Therefore, small island developing states and low lying coastal areas are particularly vulnerable to sea level rise and climatechange. The more sea levels will rise, the harder will be the situation for the coastal cities, and will be more impressive to erosion prone coast. Moreover, coastal areas will be exposed to impressive erosion. The quantitative analysis of the merit of a society is one very multifaceted and complex task; however, one truth remains certain: a good society is not achieved by chance or by default. Each and every successful society has succeeded because at a certain point, members of the society acted collectively to create structure and organization. Universities and institutions, transportation networks, and public healthcare, are all structures that have been put in place to help individuals succeed in various areas. From Travels of a T shirt in the Global Economy, it is evident that without necessary trade, negotiations, and boundaries, the millions of T shirts produced would not be able to flow across global communities, bringing alongside them countless job opportunities, more effective governance systems, and enhanced research and innovations. Clearly, one of the key aspects of a good functioning society is the establishment of good and effective structures. While the best form of that structure can be debated, the fact that a good society needs structure and organization is a fixed and fundamental condition. In order for this structure to provide a foundation of a good society, there are a few other conditions that must follow among them are attentiveness to all members of the society, commitment to universal values, and flexibility to change and adapt. In addition to structure, a good society is one that works to help all members thrive, especially individuals at the

In this essay, I will look at his views on nonviolent protest and how they differ from todays violent protests. To understand King s views on nonviolent protest, I will start by summarizing some of the main points in his Letter from Birmingham jail . In spite of the fact that the Letter is verifiably worried with justice all through, King likewise addresses the question specifically at a few focuses. In actuality, he places that justice maintains the poise of the human soul, while injustice conflicts with it. By talking about this idea by and large, he builds up criteria by which to obscurely assault both segregation and silence it. He at last suggests that the man who sees injustice and does nothing to stop it is acting unjustly also. Taking after this thought, he contends that laws must be permeated with an ethical sense so as to be just; as such, law and morality can not be viewed as independent interests or areas. The best way to really enact change and help humankind rise above its confinements is to act with as well as grasp extremism . According to Mott, That this action had been termed extreme King admits initially disappointed him. But King decides that if loyalty to good principles
