Enterprise data science - What it takes to build?Jothi Periasamy
Enterprise data science is not just creating dashboard, reports, ad-hoc query, models and/or algorithms, it’s beyond all - Take a look at our approach to enterprise data sciences, it’ very complex and it’s very difficult to implement as it’s involved integrating data across enterprise business function regardless of data source, format and structure
There are many instances where people talk about enterprise data sciences (Oracle 12C, HADOOP, SAP) but “have you seen enterprise data sciences in a real system as a live demo”, in most cases the answers is “no” but now there is an opportunity to review enterprise data sciences with CloneSkills.
I would say confidently say that there is no one in the world who integrated “Oracle 12C” and SAP HANA with HADOOP for real-time data integration except CloneSkills technical architect Mr. Karthik

So what is SAP HANA? How can it help my area (Line of Business) and our business overall!. Presentation lays out BASICS and how can help users enable their area/business "Real time".
SAP HANA is an in-memory database and development platform by SAP. It serves as the software giant’s contemporary, in-memory computing product for the business market.
SAP HANA offers column-based storage, data aging and dynamic tiering, provisioning capabilities, high availability and disaster recovery, monitoring tools, data modeling, and a slew of security options.
It is available for on-premise, cloud, and two-tiered (hybrid) deployments.
SAP HANA was pioneered by SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner throughout the late aughts as a potential answer to the question “how do I get business questions answered the moment they’re asked?” Five years of development went into finding the solution.
The initial version of the SAP HANA database was released to select customers in late 2010. SAP debuted the general release version at SAPPHIRE NOW, SAP’s annual technology conference in Orlando, Florida, in June 2011—making history as the first in-memory database in the world. It was an extremely popular product release, quickly becoming SAP’s fastest-adopted solution: today there are over 30,000 customers utilizing SAP HANA.

SAP BPC on HANA EPM Report Developer Guide - Part #1 - v9Jothi Periasamy
Overview:
Dynamic formatting is defined in a dedicated sheet. A specific format (such as font, colour, or size) can be defined for levels of a hierarchy, types of members, odd/even rows or columns and page axis dimensions. We can define specific dynamic formatting in a template to apply to sheets or reports. Since the EPM Formatting Sheet is an excel sheet, it can be copied and changed to be applied to other reports, worksheets.
● A blank template sheet is provided with the add-in. You can specify the formatting you want in this sheet.
● For Planning and Consolidation connections, two pre-defined templates are provided. You can create additional template sheets by copying the default sheet as you would copy a standard Microsoft Office Excel worksheet. EPM Formatting Sheet can be used to format your Reports and Input Forms. There are various options for formatting.
You can do simple formatting, lock the cells that are not input ready, use the format by property using multiple criteria, or use a new cell-based formula delivered with the EPM add-in to override the data range formatting.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Universal Journal:
What is Universal Journal?
Universal Journal is a structure of single source of truth for both FI and CO modules business
transaction posting
Helps reporting in all components use data from the same journal entries
Simply speaking, Universal Journal is a one line item table of all dimensions from FI, CO, AA and
Material Ledger
Key Features of Universal Journal
Secondary cost elements are part of GL accounts and thereby uniformity is maintained
Universal Journal has got its own currency fields which brings currency concepts used in FI and CO
closer together
Universal Journal entries are written to a new table, ACDOCA. However, one can use the use data from
old tables
Significantly reduced memory footprint
Harmonized internal and external reporting
Deployable as central finance in case of diverse system landscapes
06/22/2015
17. Financial Reporting and Advanced Analytics
Oil & Gas Use Case for SAP S/4 HANA
Universal Journal (Continued …)
The new universal journal entry replaces the Financial Accounting (FI) document and the Controlling (CO) document with a universal document.
A journal entry is created for every business transaction in one of the following application components:
General Ledger Accounting (FI-GL)
Asset Accounting (FI-AA)
Controlling (CO)
Exception: Costing-based Profitability Analysis (CO-PA)
Material Ledger (CO-PC-ACT)
The introduction of the journal entry eliminates the need for the separation made previously between Financial Accounting (FI) and Controlling
(CO). Since financial accounting and managerial accounting are reconciled constantly, there is no longer any need for reconciliation between FI
and CO or between FI-GL and FI-AA, nor is there any need for the real-time integration of these components. The reports in all components use
data from the same journal entries
For this uniformity, all cost elements (primary and secondary) need to be portrayed as G/L accounts. Consequently, you no longer need
to enter the master data for cost elements separately; instead, you only need to create G/L accounts from now on
The universal journal entry has its own currency fields. This brings the currency concepts used in FI and CO closer together
The journal entry contains data for characteristics from all of these components. In the case of data that is not entered during
document entry or that is not determined by the business transaction, the system derives such data automatically from existing data. In
this way, you can analyze the data using characteristics from different components. For example, you can create a balance sheet at the
segment level
Effects on Existing Data: Universal journal entries are written to a new table, ACDOCA. Consequently, updates are no longer
made to some old tables. Nevertheless, you can continue to use reports that use data from these old tables. This is because
compatibility views for a data request from one of these tables read the data from ACDOCA

Oil & Gas Use Case for SAP S/4 HANA
Simple Finance Business Values:
Financial Insights - end-2-end analytical capabilities
• Today, legal accounting is separate from Management accounting
(based on profit center and Profit center hierarchies)
• The two views can not be easily combined (e.g. Accounts
Receivable does not provide Information about Profit Center)
• Management reporting is based on aggregates with a set of pre-
defined joins with no possibilities to further drill down, e.g.
Information about DSO is available on company code and LoB only
but cannot be broken down to a specific area of responsibility (Profit
Center)
• Data structures are harmonized and integrated to form one logical
document across FICO (Accounts Receivable are combined with
Profit Center Information)
• Reporting is based on line items (no aggregates), therefore, new
reporting requirements can be easily implemented based on new
FICO joins/views
• This allows to perform end-to-end analysis and define new
responsibilities in many areas. E.g.
• Cash Management as integrated part of Business Steering (e.g.
more granular on DSO)
• Tax optimization (e.g. I/CO agreements for management license,
management overhead etc.)

Financial Reporting and Analytics Simplified:
Simplified Intercompany Reconciliations
Customers can replace the long running transactions and batch processes they might be using today for
achieving intercompany reconciliations. SAP Simple Finance provides a unified, single general ledger that
automatically achieves this reconciliation. This not only speeds up reconciliations, but also enables
simulations and thereby enhances a company's ability to plan and stay ahead of the curve
Integrated Planning
Unified models for enterprise-wide financial planning and reporting scenarios on a single source of truth.
This integration can eliminate any latency or discrepancies that might exist between operational systems and
analytical or planning systems and it enhances a company’s overall planning capabilities
In our next Webinar we will be discussing Financial Close and
