Pros And Cons Of Mandatory Military Service
Mandatory military service requires every citizen to join and serve in the armed forces, but not every
young man or women can handle the intense physical training, furthermore, patriotism will be
compromised by such an enforcement. It takes a certain type of individual to withstand the mental,
physical, and psychological demands that the military requires. Those who are forced to join and do
not have the stamina need face factors like anxiety, depression and even suicide. A study conducted by
the Anxiety and Depression Association of America showed that approximately 40,000 military
members who returned from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan suffered from post traumatic stress
disorder (PTSD). And that rate is three times higher among those who were deployed in combat than
those who were non deployed. When a recruit joins on a voluntary basis, there is a great sense of pride
and patriotism as they accomplish the strenuous and challenging training, consequently, this will be
compromised as the attitude will change when the enrollment goes from voluntary to requirement.
Part of the reason why the military is so successful is due to this pride and when that is compromised,
the institute will be weakened. The training for the military is intense and not all 18 year old s can
handle the pressure to perform under fire and the threat of death, which can be dangerous not only for
the ailing service member but the entire troop. The pride of those who do accomplish the training is

Becoming a portrait photographer is one of the toughest tasks a photographer can face. This form of
photography is the most challenging and requires a complete mastering of the art. Now, don t let this
scare you away because if you have the passion and the intent you can overcome anything. It is always
thought that a studio is required for portrait photography. However, it is not true as more than half of
portraits are shot outdoors. Environmental portraits allow you to show the subject as well as the
surroundings. Even if you don t have a great studio you can flourish in the art by photographing in
parks, beaches and open fields.
A best size of a portrait image is the one that can be enlarged to the size of 11x14 inches. If the size is
any smaller, the face of the person will be too small and it will not be considered a portrait. You have
to understand some photography techniques to get on top of the game. You will need the help of a low
ISO, prime lenses, tripods and a mid range DSLR camera.
When shooting in a studio you need to make sure

The Frames And Their Goals And Beliefs Into Collective Action
Frames Literature
Within social movement literature, frames play a major role in impacting how movement actors
translate their goals and beliefs into collective action. Specifically, frames shape the parameters of
action and the strategic choices underlying these actions. Additionally, framing processes have taken
center stage in an attempt to understand the emergence and development of social change efforts
(Croteau Hicks, 2003: 252). For sociologists, frames act as schemata of interpretation which render
things or situations meaningful (Goffman, 1974: 21). Political scientists attribute this concept to
collective action, where frames simplify and condense aspects of the world out there, with the end
intention of mobilizing potential adherents and constituents (Benford Snow, 1988: 198). In its simplest
form, movements may try to remake the world in their own image (Clemens in McAdam et al, 1996:
213). Therefore, to get supporters involved in collective action, organizers must shape their frames in
an attractive manner. To generate collective action frames, movement organizers participate in what
scholars call frame articulation (Benford Snow, 2000: 623). Frame articulation, according to Benford
and Snow, involves the connection and alignment of events and experiences so that they hang together
in a relatively unified and compelling fashion (2000: 623). Benford and Snow further argue: what
gives the resultant collective action frames its novelty is not

Essay on Language as Connectivity in a Group
Language is a crucial part of how people in a group show their solidarity to each other. Discuss
Through the use of language, each member of a group is able to construct and reflect their identity.
Through the language features present in slang and jargon, users are able to communicate their social
identity and group belonging. They are also able to portray their cultural heritage and background
through ethnolect varieties of English. Language plays a crucial part in enabling the speaker to
communicate belonging to a specific social group, reinforcing solidarity. The use of slang enables the
speaker to reinforce group membership and belonging. Slang is often ephemeral in nature; it
constantly evolves to suit each generation of users. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slang can also contain borrowings from other languages, allowing the user to appear knowledgeable
and cool, such as nada from Spanish or ciao from Italian. The use of slang enables members of a
group to bond over shared or common interests. Its somewhat exclusive nature enables users to define
boundaries between speakers that do and do not belong to the group, thus reflecting solidarity towards
group members. Similarly, jargon enables its users to reinforce and communicate group solidarity.
Jargon is a specific lexicon related to an area or field of interests such as cars, food, or medicine. As a
result, it can be used exclusively between members against an audience that does not share the same
knowledge or interests as the group, defining group membership and belonging. The frequent use of
abbreviations such as CVA (cerebrovascular accident) or CPU (central processing unit) enable group
members to communicate efficiently without having to spell out or explain the meaning of the phrase
each time it is used. Acronyms such as ASIS (Australian secret intelligence service) and Wifi (wireless
fidelity) enable effective communication, also saving time during spoken or written discourse. Phrases
of Latinate background and origin are also common to jargon, as with De Facto , Quid Pro Quo and
Pro Bono from legal jargon. Their use enables the speaker to appear impressive and knowledgeable.

Second Great Awakening Capitalism Analysis
As seen throughout the semester, the debates surrounding capitalism and its role in society are
extensive and transcends generations. By virtue of the nature of debates, two broad positions on
capitalism evolved in North American Protestantism one position defends capitalism while the other
protests capitalism. The defense of capitalism developed in the 19th century. Being one of the many
authors to do so, Charles Sellers attributes the development of capitalism to the Market and Industrial
Revolution (Sellers, 21). Consequently, the Second Great Awakening increased religious awareness
and significance in the daily lives of Americans (Sellers, 202). Sellers argues it was only through
religion that Americans could cope with the stresses of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
28). He describes wealth as a ...blessing to mankind, (Gladden, 8). Gladden s perspective of causality
dissents from Weber and Sellers; he believes that, ...one effect invariably produced by Christianity
upon an uncivilized people receiving it is to multiply the wealth of that people, (Gladden, 5). He
argues, Protestantism, and ultimately Christianity, cause people to desire material goods (Class notes,
Feb. 28). Thus, Christianity cannot be against capitalism without contradicting itself (Gladden, 8).
Gladden s evidence for his argument stems from the Bible. Gladden contends that there are statements
in the Old Testament in which ...the possession and the increase of wealth are adduced as proofs of the
favor of God, (Gladded, 6). Wherefore, the New Testament supplements this argument by clarifying
that is expected for men to accumulate wealth and possessions, but also God admonishes people
valuing material goods over spiritual good, but not material wealth itself (Gladden,6). That is, people
are meant to value spiritual well being over material goods, but also remember they are commanded to
be fruitful on earth and thus produce and amass wealth (Gladden, 7). Finally, Gladden realizes
capitalism is not the problem; the problem is the unequal distribution of wealth (Class Notes, Feb. 28).
He says, No possible system will remove all

Neighborhood Violence
Richmond, Calif. IN 2007, this city of about 100,000 people, north of Berkeley, had the dubious
distinction of being the ninth most dangerous in America. That year saw a total of 47 homicides. In
some neighborhoods, gunfire was almost a daily event.
At one point, the City Council considered asking the governor to declare a state of emergency and
send in the National Guard. Instead, in 2007, the city created the Office of Neighborhood Safety. (I am
the founding director.) Our mission was simple: to tackle this epidemic of gun violence that was
killing so many young men, mostly in our minority communities.
We modeled our approach on Cure Violence, a community outreach program in Chicago founded by
the epidemiologist Gary Slutkin. The Chicago ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The average cost to taxpayers of every gun homicide in America is nearly $400,000.
In contrast, the costs of our program were modest. In practice, we have rarely needed to pay the full
amount offered under the terms of our deal: Just over half our fellowship participants receive
payments, usually in the $300 to $700 range. So if our program prevented gun deaths, there could be
little argument about cost effectiveness.
It did. In the first year of Operation Peacemaker, homicides in Richmond fell to 22 (from 45 in 2009).
In five years of our program, through 2014, we have seen the number of homicides in Richmond,
which had averaged 40 a year, more than halved; firearm assaults in general fell by a similar
proportion.
In 2014, we celebrated the lowest number of firearm assaults and homicides in more than four
decades. Richmond recorded a 76 percent reduction in homicides and a 69 percent reduction in
firearm assaults from 2007, when the Office of Neighborhood Safety was created.
In reality, we ve achieved these results not simply by the cash incentive. Our change agents work with
about 150 clients a year, at a cost of about $20,000 per person, which pays for daily mentoring,
coaching and companionship. By comparison, it costs our city about $200,000 to hire one new police

High alveolar ventilation brings more O2 into the alveoli, increasing O2 , and rapidly eliminating CO2
from the lungs (for chemical abbreviations see Table 2). Partial pressure of gases Dalton s law
explains the partial pressure of a gas, which is the pressure exerted by a gas within a mixture of gases
independent of each gas in the mixture (Marieb, 2004). The partial pressure of each gas is directly
proportional to its percentage in the total mixture and in air is determined by atmospheric pressure.
Atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa (760 mmHg), 21% of this air is oxygen, and the partial pressure of
oxygen (PO2 ) in atmospheric air is: 21 × 101 = 21.2 kPa 100 Within the alveoli the PO2 is different
to air because of enrichment in the air passages (dead space) with CO2 and water vapour. Alveolar air
contains much more CO2 and water vapour and much less O2 and so makes a greater contribution to
the near atmospheric pressure in the lungs, then they do in air. This is due to: gas exchanges occurring
in the lungs, humidification of air by the conducting passages, mixing of gases in the dead space
(contains air not involved in gaseous exchange) between the nose and alveoli. In alveoli, PO2
averages only 13.2 kPa (100 mmHg). Continuous consumption of O2 and production of CO2 in the
cells means that there is a partial pressure gradient both in the lungs and at the tissue level

Evaluation Of Abnormal Blood Culture Results
On November 7, 2014 Mr. Purgert was informed to return to the emergency room for an evaluation for
abnormal blood culture results. Dr. Janathan A. Goroza was the doctor on call that day. He reported
that Mr. Purgert was in the ER a few days earlier, and at this time he was complaining of tightness in
his chest when he coughs. In addition he also reported having a 101 fever the day before this visit,
however, now it is down to 99. Dr. Goroza ran tests on Mr. Purgerts blood and released him from the
hospital.
Mr. Purgert was asked to return to the hospital on November 8, 2014 because his blood cultures
showed signs of growth and the doctors believed that he had bacteremia. He was seen by Dr. Marry
Ellen Masleid, M.D., who noted that Mr. Purgert felt unwell and had a fever as high as 102.9. In
addition, he also felt pain in his chest and over his renal transplant site, and in his right abdomen.
While in the hospital on November 8, 2014 Mr. Purgert had a consultation with Dr. Ashmin R. Shetty,
D.O. to discuss his diagnoses of chronic kidney disease stage III. He noted that Mr. Purgert has a
history of PCKD which caused his kidneys to fail. Mr. Purgert got some central chest pain while
raking leaves on November 2, 2014. Because of this, he made an appointment with Dr. Mischel on
November 4, 2014 , who told him to go to the emergency department at the hospital, however, Mr.
Purgert thought that he would get better so he choose not to go. However, he did see his cardiologist

The World s First Billionaire John D Rockefeller
The world s first billionaire John D Rockefeller was born July 8, 1839 in Richford New York. He
began his career when he built his first oil refinery near Cleveland Ohio and 1870 incorporated the
standard oil company. By the year 1822 he had monopolized the oil industry. John Davidson
Rockefeller was the second born of the six Rockefeller children born to William and Eliza
Rockefeller. William was a traveling salesman who claimed to have the ability to cure patients with
cancer and charged up to $25 per treatment, while Eliza, a devout Christian, raised their six children at
home. His mother taught strict discipline and the need to save what you earn and donate to charity
every chance you can, which left a lasting impact on John. His father also played a major role in
Rockefeller s success by teaching young Rockefeller the tricks to the trade of a traveling salesman.
Even as a child it was said that John would hustle the neighborhood by raising turkeys, selling
candies, and doing odd jobs around his home. Though the Rockefeller men were not always known
for their honesty, they were known as some of the best salesmen around. John D Rockefeller once said
It is a good thing to let my money be the servant and not make myself slave to the money. John
Rockefeller began his education in 1852 at Owego Academy in Owego, New York, where his family
relocated to in 1851. Rockefeller excelled in mental arithmetic. He was able to solve extremely

Compare And Contrast Cherokee And Comanche
People often ask, How did the world begin? . Some argue the Big Bang Theory, others argue God
created Earth Himself. Most Native Americans, however, generally believed their world stemmed
from multiple gods, animals, or a phenomenon of nature. Each creation myth was tailored to each
individual tribe s culture, customs, and beliefs. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to compare and
analyze the creation stories of two prominent Native American tribes present in Texas: the Comanche
and the Apache; warrior tribes that rode fiercely on horseback, and both competed to dominate the
Great Plains. These two tribes were fairly similar in their military prowess, but both had a different
language, culture, and a remarkably different creation story. From their creation story, one may begin

A Brief Note On Gait Deviation And Postural Asymmetry
It was alarming that in the year 2012, one out of two adults in the United States was suffered from
musculoskeletal dysfunctions (Lezin and Watkins Castillo, 2016). Gait deviation and postural
asymmetry are constantly observed among people with unilateral lower limb amputation, especially
transfemoral amputation. Studies showed, amputees have 52 71% in getting low back pain and
transfemoral amputees (TFAs) has 50% more chance of getting knee osteoarthritis (OA) at the intact
leg (Ehde et al., 2001, Kulkarni et al., 1998). It is a major issue needs immediate attention as OA and
low back pain can severely affect a person s quality of life (Woolf and Pfleger, 2003), especially this
group of population who has already owned a primary disability. Due to such, an in depth review of
how does biomechanical disadvantages expose unilateral transfemoral amputation to these second
disabilities and rehabilitation approaches to prevent or delay of the dysfunctions will be discussed here
from my perspective as a physiotherapist. To draw a good rehabilitation program, assessment on TFAs
frequently is done via visual analysis of static and dynamic alignment. Asymmetry static standing
posture and gait deviation is frequently seen among TFAs, inclusive of those have completed
rehabilitation programmes. There are 8 phases of in a gait cycle. Transfemoral locomotion is complex

Alice in Quantumland, speaks about a law of the quantum world, which shows that electrons have no
distinguishing features except for their spin. This law being all electrons are identical, except that
some spin up, whereas others spin down. The electrons even spin at the same speed. This allows them
to interact harmoniously with each other and to find pairs within their space based only on each other
s spins. In the novel, Alice noted that nearby was another similar looking figure to the electron, to
which the new acquaintance explained was a different electron. In the story, this principle is illustrated

The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle states that no particle can have well defined clear values for
both position and speed; consequently, no particle can be stationary because any stationary particle
would have a clearly defined speed value of zero. In the analogy presented by Gilmore, electrons are
able to obtain loans of energy from their local bank, allowing them to exist. The energy they are
loaned becomes their rest mass energy. This principle, perhaps, is the most difficult to compare to the
macro world. The idea that there exists a quantity or measurement for lack of a better word that cannot
be measured is difficult to reconcile with the average human mind. Though there exist equal realms of
ambiguity and no definite in the macro world, such as justice and legality, or emotion and rationality
(as provided by Gilmore), the notion of an immeasurable quantity is one many cannot grasp. This
places the Heisenberg uncertainty Principle most at odds with the macro world, as in the real world,
humans go about their existence with definite: For example, the bus will arrive to take a man to work
at 09:05; a day is 24 hours long, America gained its independence in the year 1776, and there are 8
periods in our school day. That is to say, humans take solace in the definite of numbers as a source of
definite when all else is seemingly variable and perhaps even more so when everything

The Learning Theory influences everyone s culture, ethnicity, gender, and social status, by being from

comes to learning or problem solving. One of the most important events in a human s life is the
Learning Theory . This process takes place from the minute we are born. Information is taken in and
absorbed, in turn builds one s ability to retain what one has learned. Many factors aid in the learning
process which includes ones environment, past experiences, and one s emotion which all play a
rewarding understanding on how ones sees the world and retain information around them. B. F.

stimulus and can be conditioned) and operant behavior (that which produces consequences that tend to
be repeated when reinforced and discontinued when not reinforced). Many different practice models
have developed from the theories of the behaviorists, who operate by setting up controlled situations
in which behavior can be conditioned and reinforced. These models are widely used in teaching, in
treating problems of human relationships, and in working with personal problems that lead to
destructive behaviors. As behavior modification develops, certain features are assuming greater
importance. One is the detailed specification of objectives with the possibility of sub goals that serve

Symbolism In A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner
Love can distill rage into individuals when it is not mutual. In A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner,
things begin to go south as Emily Grierson encounters her biggest fear: change. Ms. Emily is viewed
as a monument and chore to her community. After her father s death, her world seems to flow
accordingly behind his passing. Meanwhile, her emotional health declines in conjunction with her
physical surroundings. Emily Grierson suffers from emotional decay due to isolation by her father,
unrequited love, and unrealistic expectations from the townspeople causing her to embrace murder.
Although Ms. Emily s father was dead, he still had mental control over her endeavors. She was left
feeling vulnerable and open to love from a male. Emily knew no love outside of her father s grasp.
Faulkner writes how after her father s death, people hardly saw her at all (sec.2 para.2). It was
understood around the community that no man was good enough for Ms. Emily, according to her
father. Faulkner expresses symbolism as he describes Emily as a slender figure in white in the
background... and her father as a spraddled silhouette in the foreground... clutching a horsewhip (sec.2
para.13). By describing her father as a silhouette , Faulkner directly foreshadows her father s role in
her current life succeeding his death. He acts as a shadow behind her, foreshadowing her long term
emotional instability. Because of his confinement, Ms. Emily was robbed of the experience of any

The Effects Of Television Violence On Children Essay
This guest teaches your children to resolve conflicts through violence. The guest baby sits your kids
and teaches them principles you don t agree with. Does watching violence in TV is harmful for your
children? Is it Ok to let the 2 year olds watch TV unsupervised? No says the American replacing baby
sitters?
Hypothesis: Extensive viewing of television violence causes children to behave in aggressive or
harmful ways to others.
Children model behavior they see in the media, she wrote in 1993. If kids don t see the consequences
of violence, it teaches them that violence doesn t cause serious harm. When heroes use violence it
sends a message that violence is an appropriate way to respond to problems.
Ever since TV has been introduced into the homes, parents, teacher and psychologists have been
wanting to know about the impact of TV on children. According to the report given by National
institute of mental Health in 1982, the following effects were identified in children on viewing
excessive violence in TV [1] http://www.apa.org/action/resources/research in action/protect.aspx
Children may become less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others.
Children may be more fearful of the world around them.
Children may be more likely to behave in aggressive or harmful ways toward others.

Differences Between Disney And Grimm s Cinderella
Differences Between Disney and Grimm s Cinderella There are many different versions of the classic
story, Cinderella. Grimm s version was just as wonderful, but had more twisted moments than Disney
s story. Both stories are about a girl who overcomes the cruelty of her evil stepmother and stepsisters
and ends up living happily ever after. Although, there are many differences, there are three that stand
out. The three main differences are, the father died in disney s version but did not die in Gimms
version, there was no fairy godmother in Grimm s version but there was in Disney s, and in the
original version the stepsisters cut their heels and toes off so it would fit in the slipper but in the
Disney version they did not. One major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, what was Disney s thinking for changing it? The godmother in Cinderella symbolizes
Cinderella s guardian angel. By creating the fairy godmother instead of the magical hazel tree, Disney
created more magic in the story which makes it more interesting and fun for the audience. The last
difference between the two stories is quite disturbing. In Disney s Cinderella, when it came time to try
on the slipper the two stepsisters tried their hardest to squish their feet into it. However, Grimms
version is drastically different. Instead of trying to just squish their feet in, one step sister cut the heel
of her foot off and the other cut her big toe off. A reason to why Brothers Grimm might have included
that part is because they wrote this story in 1812. Disney did not want to have that in their version of
the story because of the audience that watches, such as little children and their families. It would not
be as enjoyable nor as humorous if they included that gruesome part of Grimm s story. When
comparing the Grimm Brothers story and Disney s version, they have three major differences. By
Disney changing Cinderella from the original Grimm version, they were taking the dark and twisty
parts and changing them into a more enjoyable scene. The changes between the two stories are so
drastic you might have never thought Disney s Cinderella was originally based off of Grimm s written
version,

The Themes Of Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption
The Shawshank Redemption is a prison drama movie released in 1994 and is based on a novella
named Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption . The novella was written by Stephen King and
published in 1982 in a compilation of four novellas which was named Different Seasons. Rita
Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption was the first novella in the book; King called this first
chapter HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL. The rest of the novella chapters had references to summer, fall
and winter. However, King pointed directly to the main theme of the novella by his emphasis on
HOPE. Imprisonment is obviously an isolating and fearful experience. Ironically, after long
incarceration, many prisoners become institutionalized and so used to the bars, the tight schedules and
the prison guards that they become afraid of freedom or even the hope of freedom. As King stated in
an interview, What are we afraid of, as humans? Chaos. The outsider. We re afraid of change. We re
afraid of disruption, and that is what I m interested in. (Lehmann Haupt, www.theparisreview.org)
Both the book and the movie explore these fears, but keep hope alive in the human condition by
describing one prisoner s ability to retain his self worth despite being in a hopeless situation. His
outlook on life, his inner light kept him hopeful that he could become free again.

Design Of Goods And Services
10 OM Decisions with Definitions
Examples from Goldratt
Business Experience and Analogy
OM: Design of Goods and Services
Definition: the Design of Goods and Services is fairly much of the transformation process in a firm.
The design of process is extremely influential in determining decisions relating to business elements
such as Cost, quality, human resources. Additionally, to survive in the business arena, a firm must
design goods and services to meet the needs and wants of their customers (Heizer Render, 2011). 1:
One component in the design of products is the processes that the products pass through. Rogo and his
team discussed this process as they reviewed the process of work in progress with Stacey on those
parts that go through the robot area while trying to determine the bottlenecks within the company
2: Another component in the designing products is the maximization of the number of adequate
products produced by having Quality control process moved to the beginning of the bottleneck so that
the bottleneck only process good parts. Technological advancement and innovations have prompted
companies like CVS to redesign their workflow spaces and workflow to accommodate their newly
developed minute clinics or specialty clinics. The newly developed clinics which are currently
providing faster, affordable, quality healthcare to the CVS customers has greatly enhanced the
profitability of the company within the market.

Many ships plied the Great Lakes treacherous waters through the 19th century and without surprise
there were many sinkings and many lives lost. Parry Sound got its first full dose in November 1879

Transient Global Amnesia
Transient Global Amnesia and Sleep
This paper will discuss whether Transient Global Amnesia (TGA) is or is not induced by our sleep
patterns and quality of sleep. Per the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine (JCSM), Transient Global
Amnesia (TGA) is defined as a temporary memory loss characterized by an abrupt onset of
anterograde (AGA) and retrograde amnesia (RA). In other words, TGA occurs when there is a sudden
occurrence of both Anterograde amnesia and retrograde amnesia at the same time. As defined by the
JCSM, anterograde amnesia is the acute inability to retain new information and retrograde amnesia is
the significant reduction in the ability to recall past events. TGA has been known to last up to twenty

But can consolidation of memories be affected in the same way? In studies that concentrated on how
Benzodiazepines (a substance used as a sleep aid and an anti anxiety medicine) affected the quality of
sleep and memory of events that happen during interrupted sleep periods. Subjects fell back asleep
rather quickly, but come morning, had much trouble recalling the tasks they were given to complete
earlier in the night. In studies that looked at memory between wake and sleep, researchers presented
undergraduate students a verbal word as they drifted off into sleep. But of course, to ensure sleepiness
the students were limited to two hours of sleep the night prior to the experiment. Researchers used an
electroencephalograph (EEG), which is a tool to determine one s position in the wake to sleep cycle.
Using the EEG researchers determined when their subjects were asleep then either allowed them short
periods of sleep or long periods before waking them. Once their subjects were woken up, they tested
their memory through recognition. Results showed that the subjects who experienced short periods of
sleep did, in fact, the memory test. In contrast, the subjects that could sleep for a longer period, in this
case, ten minutes, had a greater difficulty remembering the word relayed to them in the five minutes
prior to them falling asleep. These results were interpreted as an interruption of the transfer of the
memory from short term to long term storage. Thus, the memory was in a sense erased and was
unavailable to be recalled. This difficulty is an example of RA, as has been defined, and as an example
of RA being induced by interruptions in the quality of sleep. However, if subjects were aroused in any
way as they drifted off to sleep and were read their words, then it could be that AGA has been induced.
What this fails to conclude however is if both

Literary Analysis Of Aftermath On Blackboard By Longfellow
This poem was interesting because it so short and everyone can relate to it. The speaker of this poem
eats the plums someone else was saving. The speaker never says who he/she was talking to, which
makes me question who the speaker was talking to. He/she could be talking to his/her spouse,
significant other, friend, etc. Also the plums could be a metaphor, sweet, delicious, fresh, for sexual
activity, temptation, or love.
Aftermath on Blackboard
This poem is about how bare the land is after it being harvest, hence the title Aftermath. Longfellow
wrote this poem focusing on nature and the changing of the seasons, summer to winter. He describes
summer as having sweet, new grass with flowers while the winter has tangled tufts from marsh.
Grass on Blackboard This poem is about how nature, grass growing, has to restore itself and cover up
the destruction that the humans left. The speaker lists the battlefields to show how nature covers up a
disaster the humans made. Humans usually forget that the battles actually happen and they end up
forgetting about it, then it keeps happening after that.
Upon Julia s Clothes on Blackboard This poem describes how Julia has fancy taste in clothes and how
the speaker likes how Julia looks in them. The reader learns nothing about Julia, including what she is
wearing. The only thing readers know about Julia is how she looks in silk, describing how it flows , its
liquefaction , its vibration, and its glittering.

Should softball players wear face masks? Is softball a safe sport? While softball is one of high schools
safest sports according to momsteam.com, more and more players are getting hurt and here s why.
Many players are getting line drives to the head, and other parts of their body. They say they should
have been wearing a face mask while playing defense. Players of fastpitch softball need to wear a face
mask because players and pitchers are having more injuries each year, without one you are increasing
risks for injuries that could potentionally lead to your end in a career of softball. Girls are starting to
wear a face masks at a young age teaches young girls that are wearing a face mask is safe. Young girls
think it is cool to wear face masks and that it is fun to wear different colored masks. Missouri softball
pitchers in high school are now required to wear a face mask while pitching (Eads). Little girls are
now being taught to never play without one. Tournaments and rec leagues are making a face mask rule
now for pitchers and corners. Little girls do not have to worry about getting hit in the face because
they are wearing them all of the time. The good thing about young girls wearing face masks is they
will know when you need to wear one and when you do not. Having girls wear face masks at an age
younger than twelve is absolutely wonderful. It is wonderful because they are being taught to wear it

Analysis Of Papyrus Original Writing
OH! HUMAN! I M VERY SORRY! Papyrus yelped and rushed over to you, a wash cloth in his
gloved hand.
The kitchen walls were covered in red (You guessed it was sauce) and a boiling pot of water sat on the
stove, with several boxes of empty boxes of pasta sitting dangerously close to the flame.
He started to rub the sauce off your face, getting incredibly close. You felt your cheeks flushed at the
proximity.
HU (Y/N)? ARE YOU ALRIGHT? YOUR FACE IS INCREDIABLY RED, ARE YOU SICK?
Papyrus slipped a glove off and placed the back of his hand on your forehead.
I I m okay, I p promise! You managed to get out. Papyrus stepped away from you and opened his

the cabinets on fire.

Heroin Addiction Paper
Heroin is a highly addictive illegal drug, derived from morphine and used by millions of users around
the world. It is a naturally occurring opiate found in opium poppies and is primarily grown in
Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, Mexico, and Columbia (National, 2015), but has been illegal in the
United States since the early 1900 s. In its purest form, heroin is a fine white powder, but more often,
it is found to be rose gray, brown or black in color (Foundation, 2016). The coloring comes from
additives which have been used to dilute it (Foundation, 2016). These dilutes can include sugar,
caffeine or other substances (Foundation, 2016). In medicine, diamorphine, the main product found in
heroin, is used to treat sever pain, such as from a heart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most common effects of heroin addiction include liver disease, skin disease, clouded mental
functions, collapsed/scarred veins, blood clots, stroke, respiratory depression, seizures (Delta, 2016).
When people inject heroin, they are at risk of serious, long term viral infections such as HIV, Hepatitis
C, and Hepatitis B, as well as bacterial infections of the skin, bloodstream, and heart (Centers for
Disease and Control, 2015). Street heroin is sometimes cut with strychnine or other poisons
(Foundation, 2016). The various additives do not fully dissolve, and when they are injected into the
body, can clog the blood vessels that lead to the lungs, kidneys or brain (Foundation, 2016). This can
lead to infection or destruction of vital organs. Other common effects of heroin addiction include
overdose and in many unfortunate cases, death. People often use heroin along with other drugs or
alcohol. This practice is especially dangerous because it increases the risk of overdose (CDC, 2015). A
heroin overdose can cause slow and shallow breathing, coma, and possible death (CDC, 2015). Like
many other chemical dependencies, heroin addiction is a chronic, relapsing brain disease with a wide

The Impact Of Guided Reflection On Self-Care Behavior
Implications Theoretically, there is dearth of literature addressing the impact of guided reflection on
self care behavior. To date, only one study within the heart failure population has combined the theory
of self care of chronic illness and Gibbs reflective cycle framework to evaluate the impact of guided
reflection on self care behaviors (Sethares Asselin, 2017). Importantly, this study is the first to
combine the two frameworks within the DM population. Based on statistical analyses and qualitative
data from this study, there are opportunities for further exploration of the combined frameworks in
future studies to illuminate the constructs of the self care theory and possibly theory/ instruments
modification and development. In this study, guided reflection was found to improve DM knowledge
which serves as a starting point for behavior change. Furthermore, guided reflection has been shown
to positively impact self care behaviors (Mamykina et al., 2008; Sethares Asselin, 2017). Importantly,
the targeted population was satisfied with the guided reflection intervention and requested that it be
promoted among others with DM. Participants perspective is important when planning and developing
nursing interventions. Considering the evidence, the opportunity exists to educate patients and/
caregivers to engage in guided reflection using Gibbs reflective questions to promote adequate self

Prologue To The Hawthorne
Hawthorne didn t take too much time to appraise Harper s body; from the quick view he got, it
appeared as gorgeous as he d anticipated, and the man knew that he d have plenty of time to get to
know every inch, in intimate detail, at a later time. For now, he was more interested in the woman
herself, her reaction, and giving her what it was she desired, whilst at the same time asserting his own
dominance.
The fabric of her dress ripping was loud in the closed room, accompanied only by the sound of his
heavy breathing, and those which came from her. His eyes burned into hers, still containing an
expression of amusement, but the pupils had also narrowed, and his head shook. I m beginning to
learn that, Ms Collin s , he half whispered, and half panted as he released the grip from which he d
pulled up from her knees, and roughly bent her over, and the dress pooled at the floor by her foot,
soon followed by her panties.
And for that, you need to be punished. Like a whore. He grunted as his digits curled in her hair, and
the flat of his palm harshly struck the flesh of her ass. As skin ... Show more content on

If you want to be fucked, you re going to have to beg for it. He panted, as next came her ankles, the
metal cuffs locked around them, and with Harper bound to the wall. Think you can beg for me,
whore? Hawthorne wondered what Harper would think if she d known about those other women who
d been in the very position she was now; not the whores who attend his cocktail parties, but runaways,
and hitch hikers, and other young ladies of the type to not easily be missed, who rich and wealth men
would pay upwards of $50,000 for, to be able to whip them within an inch of their lives and live out
any depraved fantasy which had entered their

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Mandatory Military Service Mandatory military service requires every citizen to join and serve in the armed forces, but not every young man or women can handle the intense physical training, furthermore, patriotism will be compromised by such an enforcement. It takes a certain type of individual to withstand the mental, physical, and psychological demands that the military requires. Those who are forced to join and do not have the stamina need face factors like anxiety, depression and even suicide. A study conducted by the Anxiety and Depression Association of America showed that approximately 40,000 military members who returned from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan suffered from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). And that rate is three times higher among those who were deployed in combat than those who were non deployed. When a recruit joins on a voluntary basis, there is a great sense of pride and patriotism as they accomplish the strenuous and challenging training, consequently, this will be compromised as the attitude will change when the enrollment goes from voluntary to requirement. Part of the reason why the military is so successful is due to this pride and when that is compromised, the institute will be weakened. The training for the military is intense and not all 18 year old s can handle the pressure to perform under fire and the threat of death, which can be dangerous not only for the ailing service member but the entire troop. The pride of those who do accomplish the training is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This form of photography is the most challenging and requires a complete mastering of the art. Now, don t let this scare you away because if you have the passion and the intent you can overcome anything. It is always thought that a studio is required for portrait photography. However, it is not true as more than half of portraits are shot outdoors. Environmental portraits allow you to show the subject as well as the surroundings. Even if you don t have a great studio you can flourish in the art by photographing in parks, beaches and open fields. A best size of a portrait image is the one that can be enlarged to the size of 11x14 inches. If the size is any smaller, the face of the person will be too small and it will not be considered a portrait. You have to understand some photography techniques to get on top of the game. You will need the help of a low ISO, prime lenses, tripods and a mid range DSLR camera. When shooting in a studio you need to make sure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Frames And Their Goals And Beliefs Into Collective Action Frames Literature Within social movement literature, frames play a major role in impacting how movement actors translate their goals and beliefs into collective action. Specifically, frames shape the parameters of action and the strategic choices underlying these actions. Additionally, framing processes have taken center stage in an attempt to understand the emergence and development of social change efforts (Croteau Hicks, 2003: 252). For sociologists, frames act as schemata of interpretation which render things or situations meaningful (Goffman, 1974: 21). Political scientists attribute this concept to collective action, where frames simplify and condense aspects of the world out there, with the end intention of mobilizing potential adherents and constituents (Benford Snow, 1988: 198). In its simplest form, movements may try to remake the world in their own image (Clemens in McAdam et al, 1996: 213). Therefore, to get supporters involved in collective action, organizers must shape their frames in an attractive manner. To generate collective action frames, movement organizers participate in what scholars call frame articulation (Benford Snow, 2000: 623). Frame articulation, according to Benford and Snow, involves the connection and alignment of events and experiences so that they hang together in a relatively unified and compelling fashion (2000: 623). Benford and Snow further argue: what gives the resultant collective action frames its novelty is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Language as Connectivity in a Group Language is a crucial part of how people in a group show their solidarity to each other. Discuss Through the use of language, each member of a group is able to construct and reflect their identity. Through the language features present in slang and jargon, users are able to communicate their social identity and group belonging. They are also able to portray their cultural heritage and background through ethnolect varieties of English. Language plays a crucial part in enabling the speaker to communicate belonging to a specific social group, reinforcing solidarity. The use of slang enables the speaker to reinforce group membership and belonging. Slang is often ephemeral in nature; it constantly evolves to suit each generation of users. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Slang can also contain borrowings from other languages, allowing the user to appear knowledgeable and cool, such as nada from Spanish or ciao from Italian. The use of slang enables members of a group to bond over shared or common interests. Its somewhat exclusive nature enables users to define boundaries between speakers that do and do not belong to the group, thus reflecting solidarity towards group members. Similarly, jargon enables its users to reinforce and communicate group solidarity. Jargon is a specific lexicon related to an area or field of interests such as cars, food, or medicine. As a result, it can be used exclusively between members against an audience that does not share the same knowledge or interests as the group, defining group membership and belonging. The frequent use of abbreviations such as CVA (cerebrovascular accident) or CPU (central processing unit) enable group members to communicate efficiently without having to spell out or explain the meaning of the phrase each time it is used. Acronyms such as ASIS (Australian secret intelligence service) and Wifi (wireless fidelity) enable effective communication, also saving time during spoken or written discourse. Phrases of Latinate background and origin are also common to jargon, as with De Facto , Quid Pro Quo and Pro Bono from legal jargon. Their use enables the speaker to appear impressive and knowledgeable. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Second Great Awakening Capitalism Analysis As seen throughout the semester, the debates surrounding capitalism and its role in society are extensive and transcends generations. By virtue of the nature of debates, two broad positions on capitalism evolved in North American Protestantism one position defends capitalism while the other protests capitalism. The defense of capitalism developed in the 19th century. Being one of the many authors to do so, Charles Sellers attributes the development of capitalism to the Market and Industrial Revolution (Sellers, 21). Consequently, the Second Great Awakening increased religious awareness and significance in the daily lives of Americans (Sellers, 202). Sellers argues it was only through religion that Americans could cope with the stresses of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 28). He describes wealth as a ...blessing to mankind, (Gladden, 8). Gladden s perspective of causality dissents from Weber and Sellers; he believes that, ...one effect invariably produced by Christianity upon an uncivilized people receiving it is to multiply the wealth of that people, (Gladden, 5). He argues, Protestantism, and ultimately Christianity, cause people to desire material goods (Class notes, Feb. 28). Thus, Christianity cannot be against capitalism without contradicting itself (Gladden, 8). Gladden s evidence for his argument stems from the Bible. Gladden contends that there are statements in the Old Testament in which ...the possession and the increase of wealth are adduced as proofs of the favor of God, (Gladded, 6). Wherefore, the New Testament supplements this argument by clarifying that is expected for men to accumulate wealth and possessions, but also God admonishes people valuing material goods over spiritual good, but not material wealth itself (Gladden,6). That is, people are meant to value spiritual well being over material goods, but also remember they are commanded to be fruitful on earth and thus produce and amass wealth (Gladden, 7). Finally, Gladden realizes capitalism is not the problem; the problem is the unequal distribution of wealth (Class Notes, Feb. 28). He says, No possible system will remove all ... • 7. Neighborhood Violence Richmond, Calif. IN 2007, this city of about 100,000 people, north of Berkeley, had the dubious distinction of being the ninth most dangerous in America. That year saw a total of 47 homicides. In some neighborhoods, gunfire was almost a daily event. At one point, the City Council considered asking the governor to declare a state of emergency and send in the National Guard. Instead, in 2007, the city created the Office of Neighborhood Safety. (I am the founding director.) Our mission was simple: to tackle this epidemic of gun violence that was killing so many young men, mostly in our minority communities. We modeled our approach on Cure Violence, a community outreach program in Chicago founded by the epidemiologist Gary Slutkin. The Chicago ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The average cost to taxpayers of every gun homicide in America is nearly $400,000. In contrast, the costs of our program were modest. In practice, we have rarely needed to pay the full amount offered under the terms of our deal: Just over half our fellowship participants receive payments, usually in the $300 to $700 range. So if our program prevented gun deaths, there could be little argument about cost effectiveness. It did. In the first year of Operation Peacemaker, homicides in Richmond fell to 22 (from 45 in 2009). In five years of our program, through 2014, we have seen the number of homicides in Richmond, which had averaged 40 a year, more than halved; firearm assaults in general fell by a similar proportion. In 2014, we celebrated the lowest number of firearm assaults and homicides in more than four decades. Richmond recorded a 76 percent reduction in homicides and a 69 percent reduction in firearm assaults from 2007, when the Office of Neighborhood Safety was created. High alveolar ventilation brings more O2 into the alveoli, increasing O2 , and rapidly eliminating CO2 from the lungs (for chemical abbreviations see Table 2). Partial pressure of gases Dalton s law explains the partial pressure of a gas, which is the pressure exerted by a gas within a mixture of gases independent of each gas in the mixture (Marieb, 2004). The partial pressure of each gas is directly proportional to its percentage in the total mixture and in air is determined by atmospheric pressure. Atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa (760 mmHg), 21% of this air is oxygen, and the partial pressure of oxygen (PO2 ) in atmospheric air is: 21 × 101 = 21.2 kPa 100 Within the alveoli the PO2 is different to air because of enrichment in the air passages (dead space) with CO2 and water vapour. Alveolar air contains much more CO2 and water vapour and much less O2 and so makes a greater contribution to the near atmospheric pressure in the lungs, then they do in air. This is due to: gas exchanges occurring in the lungs, humidification of air by the conducting passages, mixing of gases in the dead space (contains air not involved in gaseous exchange) between the nose and alveoli. In alveoli, PO2 averages only 13.2 kPa (100 mmHg). Continuous consumption of O2 and production of CO2 in the cells means that there is a partial pressure gradient both in the lungs and at the tissue level ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Brief Note On Gait Deviation And Postural Asymmetry It was alarming that in the year 2012, one out of two adults in the United States was suffered from musculoskeletal dysfunctions (Lezin and Watkins Castillo, 2016). Gait deviation and postural asymmetry are constantly observed among people with unilateral lower limb amputation, especially transfemoral amputation. Studies showed, amputees have 52 71% in getting low back pain and transfemoral amputees (TFAs) has 50% more chance of getting knee osteoarthritis (OA) at the intact leg (Ehde et al., 2001, Kulkarni et al., 1998). It is a major issue needs immediate attention as OA and low back pain can severely affect a person s quality of life (Woolf and Pfleger, 2003), especially this group of population who has already owned a primary disability. Due to such, an in depth review of how does biomechanical disadvantages expose unilateral transfemoral amputation to these second disabilities and rehabilitation approaches to prevent or delay of the dysfunctions will be discussed here from my perspective as a physiotherapist. This law being all electrons are identical, except that some spin up, whereas others spin down. The electrons even spin at the same speed. This allows them to interact harmoniously with each other and to find pairs within their space based only on each other s spins. In the novel, Alice noted that nearby was another similar looking figure to the electron, to which the new acquaintance explained was a different electron. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle states that no particle can have well defined clear values for both position and speed; consequently, no particle can be stationary because any stationary particle would have a clearly defined speed value of zero. In the analogy presented by Gilmore, electrons are able to obtain loans of energy from their local bank, allowing them to exist. The energy they are loaned becomes their rest mass energy. This principle, perhaps, is the most difficult to compare to the macro world. The idea that there exists a quantity or measurement for lack of a better word that cannot be measured is difficult to reconcile with the average human mind. Though there exist equal realms of ambiguity and no definite in the macro world, such as justice and legality, or emotion and rationality (as provided by Gilmore), the notion of an immeasurable quantity is one many cannot grasp. This places the Heisenberg uncertainty Principle most at odds with the macro world, as in the real world, humans go about their existence with definite: For example, the bus will arrive to take a man to work at 09:05; a day is 24 hours long, America gained its independence in the year 1776, and there are 8 periods in our school day. That is to say, humans take solace in the definite of numbers as a source of definite when all else is seemingly variable and perhaps even more so when everything ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These models are widely used in teaching, in treating problems of human relationships, and in working with personal problems that lead to destructive behaviors. In A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, things begin to go south as Emily Grierson encounters her biggest fear: change. Ms. Emily is viewed as a monument and chore to her community. After her father s death, her world seems to flow accordingly behind his passing. Meanwhile, her emotional health declines in conjunction with her physical surroundings. Emily Grierson suffers from emotional decay due to isolation by her father, unrequited love, and unrealistic expectations from the townspeople causing her to embrace murder. Although Ms. Emily s father was dead, he still had mental control over her endeavors. She was left feeling vulnerable and open to love from a male. Emily knew no love outside of her father s grasp. Faulkner writes how after her father s death, people hardly saw her at all (sec.2 para.2). It was understood around the community that no man was good enough for Ms. Emily, according to her father. Faulkner expresses symbolism as he describes Emily as a slender figure in white in the background... and her father as a spraddled silhouette in the foreground... clutching a horsewhip (sec.2 para.13). By describing her father as a silhouette , Faulkner directly foreshadows her father s role in her current life succeeding his death. He acts as a shadow behind her, foreshadowing her long term emotional instability. Because of his confinement, Ms. Emily was robbed of the experience of any intimate ... By creating the fairy godmother instead of the magical hazel tree, Disney created more magic in the story which makes it more interesting and fun for the audience. The last difference between the two stories is quite disturbing. In Disney s Cinderella, when it came time to try on the slipper the two stepsisters tried their hardest to squish their feet into it. However, Grimms version is drastically different. Instead of trying to just squish their feet in, one step sister cut the heel of her foot off and the other cut her big toe off. A reason to why Brothers Grimm might have included that part is because they wrote this story in 1812. Disney did not want to have that in their version of the story because of the audience that watches, such as little children and their families. It would not be as enjoyable nor as humorous if they included that gruesome part of Grimm s story. When comparing the Grimm Brothers story and Disney s version, they have three major differences. The Themes Of Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption The Shawshank Redemption is a prison drama movie released in 1994 and is based on a novella named Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption . The novella was written by Stephen King and published in 1982 in a compilation of four novellas which was named Different Seasons. Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption was the first novella in the book; King called this first chapter HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL. The rest of the novella chapters had references to summer, fall and winter. However, King pointed directly to the main theme of the novella by his emphasis on HOPE. Imprisonment is obviously an isolating and fearful experience. Ironically, after long incarceration, many prisoners become institutionalized and so used to the bars, the tight schedules and the prison guards that they become afraid of freedom or even the hope of freedom. As King stated in an interview, What are we afraid of, as humans? Chaos. The outsider. We re afraid of change. We re afraid of disruption, and that is what I m interested in. (Lehmann Haupt, www.theparisreview.org) Both the book and the movie explore these fears, but keep hope alive in the human condition by describing one prisoner s ability to retain his self worth despite being in a hopeless situation. But of course, to ensure sleepiness the students were limited to two hours of sleep the night prior to the experiment. Researchers used an electroencephalograph (EEG), which is a tool to determine one s position in the wake to sleep cycle. Using the EEG researchers determined when their subjects were asleep then either allowed them short periods of sleep or long periods before waking them. Once their subjects were woken up, they tested their memory through recognition. Results showed that the subjects who experienced short periods of sleep did, in fact, the memory test. In contrast, the subjects that could sleep for a longer period, in this case, ten minutes, had a greater difficulty remembering the word relayed to them in the five minutes prior to them falling asleep. These results were interpreted as an interruption of the transfer of the memory from short term to long term storage. Thus, the memory was in a sense erased and was unavailable to be recalled. This difficulty is an example of RA, as has been defined, and as an example of RA being induced by interruptions in the quality of sleep. However, if subjects were aroused in any way as they drifted off to sleep and were read their words, then it could be that AGA has been induced. What this fails to conclude however is if both ... The speaker of this poem eats the plums someone else was saving. The speaker never says who he/she was talking to, which makes me question who the speaker was talking to. He/she could be talking to his/her spouse, significant other, friend, etc. Also the plums could be a metaphor, sweet, delicious, fresh, for sexual activity, temptation, or love. Aftermath on Blackboard This poem is about how bare the land is after it being harvest, hence the title Aftermath. Longfellow wrote this poem focusing on nature and the changing of the seasons, summer to winter. He describes summer as having sweet, new grass with flowers while the winter has tangled tufts from marsh. Grass on Blackboard This poem is about how nature, grass growing, has to restore itself and cover up the destruction that the humans left. The speaker lists the battlefields to show how nature covers up a disaster the humans made. Humans usually forget that the battles actually happen and they end up forgetting about it, then it keeps happening after that. Upon Julia s Clothes on Blackboard This poem describes how Julia has fancy taste in clothes and how the speaker likes how Julia looks in them. • 35. Heroin Addiction Paper Heroin is a highly addictive illegal drug, derived from morphine and used by millions of users around the world. It is a naturally occurring opiate found in opium poppies and is primarily grown in Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, Mexico, and Columbia (National, 2015), but has been illegal in the United States since the early 1900 s. In its purest form, heroin is a fine white powder, but more often, it is found to be rose gray, brown or black in color (Foundation, 2016). The coloring comes from additives which have been used to dilute it (Foundation, 2016). These dilutes can include sugar, caffeine or other substances (Foundation, 2016). Street heroin is sometimes cut with strychnine or other poisons (Foundation, 2016). The various additives do not fully dissolve, and when they are injected into the body, can clog the blood vessels that lead to the lungs, kidneys or brain (Foundation, 2016). This can lead to infection or destruction of vital organs. Other common effects of heroin addiction include overdose and in many unfortunate cases, death. People often use heroin along with other drugs or alcohol. This practice is especially dangerous because it increases the risk of overdose (CDC, 2015). A heroin overdose can cause slow and shallow breathing, coma, and possible death (CDC, 2015). • 36. The Impact Of Guided Reflection On Self-Care Behavior Implications Theoretically, there is dearth of literature addressing the impact of guided reflection on self care behavior. To date, only one study within the heart failure population has combined the theory of self care of chronic illness and Gibbs reflective cycle framework to evaluate the impact of guided reflection on self care behaviors (Sethares Asselin, 2017). Importantly, this study is the first to combine the two frameworks within the DM population. Based on statistical analyses and qualitative data from this study, there are opportunities for further exploration of the combined frameworks in future studies to illuminate the constructs of the self care theory and possibly theory/ instruments modification and development. In this study, guided reflection was found to improve DM knowledge which serves as a starting point for behavior change. Furthermore, guided reflection has been shown to positively impact self care behaviors (Mamykina et al., 2008; Sethares Asselin, 2017). Importantly, the targeted population was satisfied with the guided reflection intervention and requested that it be promoted among others with DM. Participants perspective is important when planning and developing nursing interventions. Considering the evidence, the opportunity exists to educate patients and/ caregivers to engage in guided reflection using Gibbs reflective questions to promote adequate self care.
