Sample Mba Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Sample MBA Essay" can pose a considerable challenge,
requiring a delicate balance between showcasing your unique qualities and adhering to the
expected norms of MBA application essays. The difficulty lies in articulating your professional
journey, academic achievements, and personal attributes in a way that not only aligns with the
expectations of admissions committees but also stands out amidst a sea of other applicants.
To begin with, you must delve into introspection to unearth compelling anecdotes and
experiences that highlight your leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and a clear sense of
purpose. This self-reflection is not a simple task, as it demands a nuanced understanding of your
own strengths and weaknesses.
Moreover, the essay must be structured with precision, maintaining a coherent flow while
effectively addressing specific prompts or questions. The challenge here is to strike a balance
between humility and confidence, demonstrating self-awareness without sounding arrogant.
Each paragraph should seamlessly connect to the next, forming a narrative that captivates the
reader's attention and leaves a lasting impression.
Additionally, the essay must adhere to the stringent word count limitations typically imposed by
MBA programs. Condensing your life story, aspirations, and qualifications into a concise yet
comprehensive piece requires careful word choice and a keen understanding of what truly
matters to the admissions committee.
Lastly, the essay must be polished to perfection, free from grammatical errors and typos. A single
oversight could undermine the effort you've invested in presenting yourself as a qualified and
articulate candidate.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Sample MBA Essay" is undeniably challenging.
It demands introspection, strategic storytelling, and impeccable writing skills to create a
compelling narrative that sets you apart in a competitive pool of applicants.

Doodle Armstrong Death Analysis
Your honor, we all have our different opinions about the death of Doodle
Armstrong. But I am here to tell you why I believe that Doodle s brother was the
cause of this tragic death. Brother left Doodle back in the rain when he KNEW he
had problems walking, he was very cruel to Doodle, and he ALWAYS put himself
before Doodle. At the end of the case your honor you will know that brother was
the cause to the death of Doodle Armstrong. Judge Meedel I would like to start off
by showing you how brother impacted in this death. Doodle struggled when it came
to walking and brother knew that but he didn t seem to care. If he cared then he
would have stopped and help Doodle through the storm but he DIDN T, he left him
there. On record we have that brother states I ran as fast as i could, leaving him far
behind with a wall of rain dividing us. (6) Therefore, brother left doodle all the way
in the back struggling but did he care.... Nope. As brother was running away you
could hear the words of Doodle shout out Brother, Brother, don t leave me! Don t

Theme Across Genres Essay
Chapter 2 Theme Across Different Genres
It has become a daily conflict for most people in the world to experience or witness
discrimination of another race, gender, identity, or appearance of someone else.
What people don t realize is that just because someone may appear or identify
different, doesn t mean they are at a lower or higher status than you. I grew up in a
very diverse area. My elementary school had a program for students learning
English who came from outside of the United States. There were hundreds of
students from other countries at my school, which helped me build up a confidence
that I should be proud to be different, because nobody at my school was the exact
same. Diversity is something that every person should be proud ... Show more content

The song lyrics in Where is the Love relate to what Catherine learns about accepting
Jason and David s differences. The lyrics say that if you only love your own kind,
then you only have space to hate others. Catherine learns that the whole world isn t
like the OT clinic where differences don t matter, and that there will be people who
aren t as aware of others differences. Both texts also show no matter what someone
else thinks doesn t mean that you have to think that same way. Towards the end of
Rules, Kristi shows that she was weirded out by the fact that Catherine s friend was
in a wheelchair and couldn t talk. In Where is the Love , it says that no matter how
much madness you show, it s not going to change the thoughts of someone else. No
matter how much a person strongly dislikes someone elses differences, they will not
change and there is nothing that person can do to change those differences to their
liking, and that s what makes us all unique. Both texts show that you can t change a
person because of your own opinion, and we have to accept that. Just because the
person next to you appears different and isn t exactly like you, doesn t mean you have
the rights to bother them about their differences, because you can t change them and
they are in fact, no different than
Edward Snowden and Wikileaks
Since the beginning of modern technology people have worried about being looked
upon or spied on without their knowing. Even before the internet was invented some
people worried about their phone calls being recorded or listened in on without their
knowledge. In 1997 when the internet was common in most households this made
this idea of people being spied on much easier and on a wider scale. The first proven
threat of internetsurveillancewas in 2001 when the NSA(National Security Agency)
did a Large scale warrantless surveillance (Risen Bush Lets U.S Spy ) of internet
traffic and data streams. This surveillance program was a way to gather data and
prevent terrorist attacks. However some speculated that this was not just to monitor
the activities of suspected terrorists. In 2013 when Edward Snowden released data
that proved that the NSA was using their surveillance on everyone it turned
speculation into fact and fears of this were brought to the surface.
In the summer of 2013 one of the biggest leaks of classified documents was carried
out by a man named Edward Snowden (E. McAskill) . Edward Snowden worked as
an sysamin (System Administrator) for a security company that did contract work for
the NSA. During his time working at this company he released an estimated two
hundred thousand classified documents. Within these documents was evidence that
the United States was performing a large scale surveillance operation of its people
(B. Denson). It is estimated that

that was started by Peter van Stolk in 1996. Its unique style was evidenced by its
use of bottles that resembled classic beer bottles and by pricing higher than for
regular soft drinks. Despite its small size, the company has enjoyed huge success in
the soda market. However, just like any other beverage manufacturer, the Jones Soda

Concerning the negativities, consumers have become increasingly aware of the
environmental effects of plastic bottles and bottled beverages, encouraging
companies to alter their corporate practices. Jones Soda brand Beverage Company
has also seen a rise in the number of consumers who attempt to save money by
switching to bulk fresh juice. This is a blow to the company owing to its high
priced products. Another threat is the fact that the fact that the Corn syrup, which
Jones Soda has been using as a sweetener for its soft drinks, has become more
expensive due to high demand for corn. This made the company opt for sugar cane,
which is also a threat due to the recent consumer trends toward healthy living are a
cause for concern for JSC that sell sugar based products (Maxwell, 2009). Recent
research showing a correlation between unhealthy diet choices among young
consumers and serious health problems, including diabetes, has generated a consumer
backlash against many consumer product companies. In addition, the recent
announcement by Seattle Seahawksith JSC is another possible threat. Similarly,
American Airlines announcement to end its deal with Jones Soda, has renders the

The Birth Order Effect On Personality
The Birth Order Effect on Personality:
Is there a Cause or no Cause?
Roxan Rivas
Introduction
Throughout the years, researchers have come to believe that birth order is an
important factor in our lives, almost as important as gender or even genetics. This
ties back to the old Nature vs Nurture theory, where it is not only our biology that
defines who we are and what we do, it is a mixture of both our environment and our
genes that help us develop as a whole. Whether you are an only child, a first born,
last born, or somewhere in between, some researchers have found that this is
important in defining your character, your values, goal orientation, and life successes.
Psychology has gone through periods of accepting these ... Show more content on

The GSS allows comparison between first born(FB) and later born(LB) from
different families. Overall, these two articles put into perspective the validity of birth
order but also the general development of personalities and achievement goals within
children. These two perspectives are helpful in depicting some uprising issues with
both theories and will give us a holistic view on the topic.
The first article communicates that birth order has an effect on personality and
achievement. One of the things that these researchers noticed is that there are many
differences between family designs such as social class, parental personality, and
sibling size. However, they do not attempt to control this as much because they feel
it takes away from the natural control of the study. Their predictions were that first
born (FBs) would be more conscientious and achieving while later born (LBs)
would be perceived as more liberal, agreeable, and rebellious. They collected 4
within family data sets by asking respondents to compare themselves to their siblings
on various personality and achievement dimensions. In study one, students from the
University of California, Berkeley were asked to nominate the rebel and the achiever
in their families. Study 2 also had the same
How Does Lynne Ramsay Use Film Techniques Of Eva...
How has Ramsay used film techniques to illustrate Eva s point of view and
emotional state in the film? Lynne Ramsay s We Need To Talk About Kevin
(2011) is a thriller drama which follows Eva Khatchadourian, a widowed mother in
distress due to the massacre caused by her psychopathic son. Ramsay uses various
film techniques to portray the perspective and emotional state of Eva in the film.
Through colour, sound and music he expresses her feelings clearly to the
audience. Colour was widely explored by Ramsay to depict the extensive array of
feelings of Eva. Two prominent colours were red and yellow. Red is used as the
dominant colour to depict Eva s inability to escape from the guilt and blood caused
by the actions of Kevin, her son. Although... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He implements music in contrast to the mood of Eva to express to the audience
her emotional state. A wide array of blues music were often utilised to contrast Eva
s mood. Ham N Eggs by Lonnie Donegan was used when Eva was driving to the jail
from work. Her mood highly contrasts with the uplifting tone of the music as she
has just visited her son in jail. Music was also used to give hints as to the actions
of Eva. As Eva was frantically searching Kevin s room, the song In My Room by
The Beach Boys began playing. The blues song contained lyrics such as, There s a
world where I can go and tell my secrets to In my room, in my room. In this world I
lock out all my worries and my fears. The lyrics show that Eva was searching for
any clues to help her discern the actions and attitude of Kevin. She found nothing
to help her determine Kevin s attitude which was ironic to lyrics. Another example
of ironic use of music was during Eva s work Christmas party where Colin asks her
to dance. Eva shyly rejects the dance and Colin whispers an insult to her. The
cheerful song Last Christmas by Wham! is gradually increased in volume to rival
Eva s hurt feelings. Ramsay s recurring use of music in aims of ironically contrasting
Eva s melancholic state, is clearly expressed to the
Analysis Of The Movie Bird
On August 29th, 1920, Charlie YardBird Parker landed in this world and 34 years
later he flew away. Within those 34 years, music was eternally influenced by Bird,
and this influence continues to be celebrated all around the world. In 1988, Clint
Eastwood and Joel Oliansky worked together to create a documentary titled Bird
based on Charlie Parker s life. There are many story telling techniques used within
this film that aid in making it an extremely brilliant motion picture. Bird is very
accurate in portraying the reality of Charlie Parker s life, and this accuracy is
important because it will help to present and therefore preserve his legacy. A legacy
that will intrigue and inspire musicians forevermore.

Movie critic for the Chicago Sun Times Roger Ebert explains this scene, It shows
him touring the West Coast and hearing some simple truths one night from
Gillespie, who told him that the difference between them was that Diz took care of
business, and Charlie took care of screwing up. Gillespie was not a heavy drinker
or an avid drug user, unlike Charlie. In that way these two musical legends were
complete opposites. Because Bird focuses on this contrasting relationship, we are
given a clearer idea of who Parker was.
Included in the aspects of Bird that make it such a great film is the outstanding acting
performance by Forest Whitaker, who played Charlie Parker, and Diane Venora who
played Chan Richardson. Some critics believe that Bird was a bit too scattered, but
was held together smoothly because of Forest Whitaker s acting. Forest Whitaker s
brilliance is the force that holds the scattered pieces of Bird together. Only rarely in
movies do characters achieve this sort of palpability, and then only when presented to
us by a remarkable performer. And this is a remarkable performer giving a gentle,
exuberant, charismatic performance, proclaims Washington Post Staff Writer Hal
Hinson. With such pressure to portray the center focus of the film, Whitaker truly
delivers an excellent representation of the mysterious musical genius many of us have
gotten to know through recordings. Diane Venora s performance

People all around the world are beginning to recognize the importance of
sustainability and how it is the key to future generations. Because the human
ecological footprint is reaching the point of limitation, it is only necessary that
humans learn how to adapt and develop more efficient, sustainable states. Today,
many cities are faced with the issue of heavily contaminated and polluted domestic
water due to the failure of proper treatment and disposal. This event occurs when
pollutants and particulates come into contact and engage with water resources. In
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, residents and local officials continue to debate over the
practices of drilling, waste management, and coal mining within their district. These
practices are the lead cause to Pittsburgh s poor water quality. As a result, residents
of Pittsburgh and those who live along the border the city, are victims of dangerous
wastewater which have the potential to cause deadly diseases and illnesses like
malaria and cholera. The problem of water pollution in Pittsburgh has become an
issue politically, because local officials debate over the treatment of toxic wastes;
socially, because the people of Pittsburgh and those living near its rivers are
victimized; and economically, because the city relies on its industries to avoid further
debt. There are many reasons to why Pittsburgh fails to successfully treat its polluted

Integrated Services Digital Network ( Isdn )
Before we get into the discussion, let s briefly introduce some of the technologies
used in WANs and the different characteristics of each one:
Point to point links
A so called point to point link (Fig. 2.0) provides a pre established WAN
communication path from the user s location trough a telephone company s
network, also known as the carrier. For this kind of line, the carrier dedicates pairs
of wire and hardware to that line only. This kind of circuits are priced depending on
bandwidth needed and distance to be covered.
(Figure 2.0 Point to point link)
Circuit Switching
Work like a normal telephone line. Data connections can be started when needed and
terminated when the communication is over. An example of circuit switching is
called Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN). When a router receives data that s
intended to go to a specific remote site, the switched circuit (Fig. 2.1) is initiated with
a specific circuit number for that particular network. As soon the two networks that
are trying to connect get the authentication done, it is possible to transfer data. When
data transmission is over, the communication gets terminated.
(Figure 2.1 Switched Circuit)
Packet Switching
Here users share common carrier resources (Fig. 2.2). This is a more cost effective
solution compared for example to point to point lines. The carrier can make more
efficient use of its infrastructure. Connections into the carrier s network are shared
between many customers and
Selenium Disappearing
As I walked past the paper office building I pass every day, something was
different; the windows were tinted green and the regular red tinted windows were
no longer tinted red. Intrigued, I walked into the building a saw a strange sight,
many people complaining and groaning about their knee joints aching. To help them
out, I went over to the copier and printer only to realize that it was not functioning
properly. After thinking for a while, I concluded that the element Selenium is
disappearing. After looking into the copier, I saw that it was not functioning due to
the lack of Selenium. Selenium in laser printers and photocopiers serve as a semi
conductor, meaning it is a substance that is in between conductors and non
conductors. Selenium is not only common in laser printers and photocopiers, but
also it is used in the development in transistors in computers and cell phones. After
walking away from the copier, I went over to my friend Greg and asked why his
knee joints were aching. He told me that he normally takes a dose of Selenium a day
to strengthen his joints. Along with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ethical Dilemm Is It Ethical For The Defendant Of Driving...
Ethical dilemma: Is it ethical for the defendant to be convicted of driving under the

Professional audience for this paper: lawyers related to DUI cases and doctors who
are sued for prescribing methadone According to the recent analysis of Milliman
Inc., 16% of car accidents involved at least one prescription drug, and conjointly
certain prescription drugs have drawn related professional s attention because of

methadone has frequently been raised as a controversial issue regarding DUI cases.
For example, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most essential reason of methadone being such a controversy is that methadone
has potential side effects, such as drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision , and thus
can put someone under the danger of an automobile accident. It is true that the
defendant may be convicted of DUI by methadone due to his inconsistent driving, but
the conviction depends on a two part test by the prosecution. First, the blood test
conducted at a state approved and certified lab must show appropriate threshold
levels of the drug in the defendant s system (Goodnough 1). Secondly, the police and
the prosecution must prove that the driver who tests positive for the medication was
impaired to the point that he or she was incapable of safe driving (Goodnough 1).
However, both of these tests are subjective measurements of one s level of
impairment, and therefore, cannot avoid having some uncertainties.
During the blood test, for example, the presence of clots in the blood sample can
artificially increase the drug concentration on the report since blood is a
heterogeneous mixture, which often forms clots. The possibility of blood clotting
cannot be ignored because it occurs very frequently for many reasons, such as certain
Columbine Shooting By Dave Cullen
On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold carried out an attack on Columbine
High School in Littleton, Colorado. They fired guns towards students, killing thirteen
people and injuring more than twenty. Afterwards, they turned the guns on
themselves. In Columbine , Dave Cullen analyses how and why Eric and Dylan
massacred those people. When viewed in hindsight, events such as this are inspected
to every minute detail; there are always ways to change the outcome. In the event of
Columbine, there are many points in time at which the outcome could be changed

The day of the attack, however, he went off campus to eat at subway (44). It was a
calm day with nice weather, so he likely felt at ease, without a need to patrol
around the school. However, it was at this time that Eric and Dylan opened fire on
Columbine. Gardner s response time was delayed because he was not on campus
to hear the first shots, and therefore did not see Eric and Dylan walk into the
school. Around 11:23, 4 minutes after the shooting started, Gardner pulled up to
the school. (49). Gardner tried to locate where the shooting and explosions were
coming from, almost as confused as some of the students. As Gardner stepped out
of his car, Eric spotted the patrol lights and fired 10 shots at him. Gardner took
cover behind the car, uninjured. He fired 4 shots at Eric with his pistol, missing all
4. Eric fired a few more shots, and pushed back into the school (51). Following
protocol, Gardner did not follow Eric inside the school. As Eric reappeared in the
west exit doorway, Gardner opened fire, as well as Deputy Paul Smoker; Eric was
not hit. Eric retreated back inside the building (55). Dylan had no indication of a
contingency (45). This implies that he may have not proceeded with the rest of the
shooting if Eric had been shot down. Dylan was more depressed that homicidal; he
probably would have committed suicide instead of going on to shoot more students,
if given the chance. Additionally, it is possible that he felt threatened by Eric to go
through with the shooting; if that influence was taken away, the event may not have

The Similarities And Differences Between Baroque And...
FUTURE IN THE PAST
Architecture traditionally has been the slowest of art forms. It was not unusual for
great cathedrals take centuries to complete, with stylistic changes from Romanesque
to Gothic or Renaissance to Baroque as common as the addition of chapels or spires.
But because the function remained the same, the form could be flexible and its
growth organic . (Reflections on Baroque, 2000, p. 250). According to Martin Filler
architecture can be changeable from past to future. When looking at the history of
architecture, architectural concept was stable, but the form of the buildings was

class and behavior. Social class judgmenthas occurs in the story many in the story
many of times. One example would be when Jem judges Maycomb citizens by
who they like and do not like. The thing about it is, our kinds of folks don t like the
Cunninghams, the Cunnighams don t like the Ewells, and the Ewells hate and
despise the colored folks. (258). Social class was being judged here and that is one
of many social class judgment in this story by the characters. Another social class
judgment would be when Miss Caroline was being judged on her wealth and her
looks by Scout. Miss Caroline was no more than twenty one. She had bright auburn
hair, pink cheek, and wore crimson fingernail polish. (18). Scout judges on the way
Miss Caroline looks and the ways she looks shows her wealth. There was also
another social class judgment in the book when the trial was starting and the colored

1.) Astor was an extremely greedy and selfish individual who took advantage of the
indigenous culture the Native Americans. Astor saw the potential of the fur

Joe Louis
Joe Louis was born in Alabama on May 13, 1914. He was the son of an Alabama
sharecropper, the great grandson of a slave, and the great great grandson of a white
slave owner.
Joe Louis moved to Detroit as a youngster with his mother. He was the first African
American ever to achieve lasting fame and star status in the 20th Century. He did so
with boxing, he would capture the hearts of millions of American s, both white and
black.
This was a time when blacks were being discriminated against, the military was

champion to idol as Americans of all color and race celebrated frantically.
In 1942 he would join the U.S. Army, during the hard times of World War 2. During
this time he fought close to 100 exhibitions before some 2 million servicemen.
After the war, he knocked out Billy Conn again, and won three other fights,
including two with Jersey Joe Walcott, before abdicating his title, and retiring.
However, because he needed money to pay back taxes, he returned to boxing.
After not fighting for two years, he lost a one sided decision to his successor as

You are required to discuss a work by a 20th or 21st century artist, photographer,
designer, architect, film maker, philosopher or writer and show how this work
reflects, contradicts or extends theories of and attitudes to visual culture current at the

I have chosen Sally Mann as my artist as she is an extraordinary photographer that
went against the grain to create something completely different. She has a strange
way of making outstanding, personal imagery. She inspires my own work because of
her ability to see things others would not.

Popsicle Drips, 1985. The Last Time Emmett Modeled Nude, 1987.
The image entitled Popsicle Drips shows a young, male torso, with liquid dripping
down his lower abdomen. His right hip is tilted to the side, and his arms out of
view. When you initially look at the image, it is quite disturbing because of the
liquid substance dripping down the boy s abdomen. Without the explanatory title,
the substance could be anything. On first inspection it appeared to me to be dirt,
which in my opinion would make more sense. Why would Popsicle drips be on the
boy s naked body in the first place?
This naked picture is the only photograph in the entire body of work that shows full
frontal male nudity. The viewer may feel uncomfortable looking at the image as it is
highly provocative in its subject s pose, and the added Popsicle drips add an
element of physicality. Because the artist is a woman and the subject is a male,
for some people this caused an issue as it became more sexual. Emmet, the only
male of the three children, is seen much less provocatively in the series than the
girls are. The photograph Sunday Funnies , 1991, shows Jessie and Virginia lying
naked in a bed really the comics in a newspaper, but Emmett appears with shorts.
While the girls are busy acting out a role Mann has conducted, he stares at the

Essay on The Economic Policies of President Eisenhower
In November of 1952 General Dwight D. Eisenhower was elected to the office of
President of the United States. It was the first time a Republican was elected since
Herbert Hoover in 1928. The Eisenhower administration started at a rather awkward
time, both politically and economically. First of all there was a war on. The Korean
War had begun in June of 1950 and was still waging. As was usual for wartime the
country was economically prosperous. However, the war had caused President
Truman to abandon his former restraints on government spending. The amount of
money being spent on defense skyrocketed to supply the troops in Korea with the
supplies they needed.
This caused the federal deficit to increase dramatically (Pach and Richardson, ...

The problem at hand is the rising rate of unemployment. This problem must be dealt
with immediately with strong actions. I suggest implementing federal public works
projects as a way of creating jobs without burdening the government with additional
expenses.
Ideas for these public works projects are: the construction of a Saint Lawrence
Seaway, and an Interstate Highway System. This system would be a massive
undertaking and would be one of the largest construction projects of all time but it
would create many jobs for Americans who are no longer employed by the war effort
(Branyan and Larsen, 251).
The Republican party has not been happy with the nations economic policies for
quite some time. These are the policies of the Democrats, and more specifically
those of the New Deal and the Fair Deal. These social programs, such as social
security and welfare have been a drain on the federal budget for quite some time.
Republicans feel that the time has come to start cutting back the amount of money
being spent on such programs or at least curtail the yearly increases. However, there
are times when a political leader must make their own decisions and not base the way
they run their administration on the influences from their party. It would be better for
the economic health of the nation to maintain all of the social programs started under
the Roosevelt and
Truman administrations. While this would normally pose a

How effective are CCTV cameras as a proven crime control and prevention measure?
Describe the crime control literature which attempts to assess their efficacy and
evaluate the impact such studies have had on overall proliferation of these systems.
Illustrate your answer by reference to both official reports and academic and NGO
studies supporting or contradicting such claims.
This essay will aim to critically discuss CCTV cameras as a proven method of crime

(Privacy International; 1992) The government believes that CCTV deters
opportunistic crime such as , vehicle crime, burglaries and robbery. Research
assessing the effectiveness of CCTV; confirms that it is effective in reducing
property crime such as burglary and robbery. The rational choice theory can be used
to explain this belief. This theory suggests that, delinquent individuals seek to
maximise their profits and reduce their losses. This is dependent on the information
that is available to them at the time of committing the offence. (Cornish and Clark
1985) CCTV then, reduces the opportunistic gain and increases the risk of being
caught. (Armitage 2002; 3) However Jason Dutton, Director of the Scottish centre of
Criminology stated that glowing reductions in criminogenic behaviour since
implementation of CCTV systems, is a fantasy (Privacy International; 1992) Dutton s
statement could be rationalised when reflecting upon crimes such as public disorder.
Reflecting back to the rational choice theory: Crimes that have involved alcohol
consumption appear to reduce the perpetrators rationality , and thus the risk of being

Moses And The Ten Plagues
MOSES AND THE TEN PLAGUES In the story of Moses and the Ten Plagues which

what God is actually trying to do is find a way to get the Israelitesout of Egypt

Economics In Levitt s Freakonomics
On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Freakonomics an eight (8). In Freakonomics,
Levitt and Dubner reform the conventional perspective of economics a tiresome
profession concerning monetary and fiscal matters into a sui generis method of
evaluating the world around us. Levitt and Dubner seek to expand the minds of their
readers with the idea that economicscan be found in obscure places. This can be
exampled through the juxtapositions formed between the Ku Klux Klan and real
estate agents and between teachers and sumo wrestles. Additionally, in the beginning
of the text Levitt states, This book boasts no such unifying theme. It is evident that

The Cradle And The Grave And How We Are Affected By
Our Genes
Ever thought about why or even how we age? That has been one of the greatest
questions science has ever had. There are so many different things that can affect
the way all living organisms live and die. In this paper, I will discuss the time that
is between the cradle and the grave and how we are affected by our genes, free
radicals, and everyday choices. The term Aging refers to in specific human beings,
many animals, and fungi. Organisms such as bacteria, recurrent plants and some
simple animals are theoretically immortal. Ageing can refer to single cells within an
organismwhich have ceased dividing, also known as cellular senescence. Many don t
consider the everyday choices and how their bodies will respond. Whether it s
going to the beach with no sunscreen or going to a BBQ and eating a big greasy
burger. The littlest things will cause our bodies to react in our own ways. In
humans, ageing represents the buildup of changes in an individual over time,
including physical, psychological, and social change. Response time may slow
with age, while experiencing world events, our wisdom may expand, but our
bodies will slow down. Ageing is comparable to risk factors for most human
diseases, approximately 150,000 people die each day globally, about two thirds die
from age related causes. The causes of ageing are still uncertain, some theories place
blame on the damage concept, this means it s the accumulation of damage, such as
DNA breaks or oxidized DNA. This

For the Secretary of Defense, Jabhat al Nusra, led by Abu Muhammad al Julani, is a
significant foreign military and ideological threat. Its long term objective is
implementing an Islamic Caliphate, and 29 al Nusra factions have signed a petition
condemning the United States for naming it a terrorist organization. It is an offspring
of Al Qaeda, trained in their methods and provided with their resources. It is vastly
different from ISIS and potentially more dangerous considering its methodology. It is
sophisticated, intelligent, patient, and insidious, utilizing a bottom up growth
method. It is winning the hearts of the Syrian people and rebels by seeming to be
more humanitarian than ISIS, and claiming its supporters at their most vulnerable

Many themes are depicted in these movies, and yet, the topic which has been most
discussed is the exploration of identity. I will discuss in the following of my paper
on three Hong Kong movies I pick, Full Moon in New York (Dir. Stanley Kwan,
1989), Her Fatal Ways (Dir. Alfred Cheung, 1990), and Comrades, Almost a Lover
Story (Dir. Peter Chan, 1997) as reference to illustrate my idea into a deeper level.
Full Moon in New York (Dir. Stanley Kwan, 1989), is a tale of three Chinese
women who has a different cultural background and immigrate to New York out of
their distinct purposes. Zhao Hong, starring Siqin Gaowa, plays a submissive
housewife who gains her legal status in U.S. after married to an American citizen,
Thomas. Although her husband and she are able to make a decent living in
Manhattan, however, she is barely coping with strange Western ways. The other two
actresses in the leading role are Sylvia Chang and Maggie Cheung. Sylvia plays as an

China Has A Long And Rich History
China has had a long and rich history that is not devoid of its fair share of
revolutions and political upheavals. It is these changes that have increasingly shaped
the country into becoming one of the major economic powers of the current decade.
This has also given the country a greater standing when considering the political
influence that the country now enjoys in the global environment. One may consider
the period that span three decades from 1890 as having the greatest impact in the
trajectory that modern day has taken in the past and is going to take in the future.
This period saw a number of very significant changes both in ideology and belief that
provided chinawith the opportunity to take a new direction. One that was separate...

This was mainly due to the increasing weakness of the Qing dynasty to maintain
control of the vast region with increasing pressure from these western nations. This is
both in regards to military might and economic concerns. These two unique
characteristics were responsible for the creation of an environment of social
uneasiness among the people in China.
In the consideration of the period between 1890s to the 1920s there are three major
concerns that will be part of the analysis. These three are the political, social and
economic environments of china during this period. This will include an analysis of
the environments inherent characteristics at the time, the role these characteristics
played in the change that occurred at this time and how these factors may have
changed in themselves during this period. This consideration will be unified by one
main theme and this is the influence that external parties or concerns played in the
shaping of Chinese views, ideologies and actions during this period.
This theme is mainly cognizant of the fact that there was a great deal of foreign
activity in china during this time and that improvements in transport means had given
many Chinese people the opportunities to travel far and wide, aside from their
traditional neighbors of Japan. It is also worth mentioning that the consideration of
these three factors will largely be as a unit as there were great interplays of

Socrates Paper
Socrates is believed to be one of the greatest philosophers of all time and he is
credited as being the founder of western philosophy. This paper will explain some of
his views to the most fundamental questions of today s age. These questions will
include topics about morality, the human condition, solution, and death. After Socrates
views on these topics are explained, a critique will be done on his answers. I will
start out by explaining exactly who Socrates is, and the time that he lived in. To start
out, we will first examine Socrates view on morality.
There are many questions that could be asked about the topic of morality. Questions
like, what are the central moral principles, who is the ... Show more content on

It interferes and holds back the soul s search for the truth and causes all bad things in
the world. It is not necessarily the physical body itself, as much as it is the desires
that it brings with it.
With the question of human condition being answered, Socrates now can answer
another one of our fundamental questions. This question is Solution. Solution
proposes a way to fix what has gone with the world and mankind. In Socrates eyes,
the world s greatest problem was the attachment to the human body. He proposes that
this can be fixed by detaching oneself from the body. Socrates partially explains
this by saying It seems that so long as we are alive, we shall keep as close as
possible to knowledge if we avoid as much as we can all contact and association
with the body, except when absolutely necessary; and instead of allowing ourselves
to become infected with its nature, purify ourselves from it until God himself gives
us deliverance. In this way, by keeping ourselves uncontaminated by the follies of
the body, we shall probably reach the company of others like ourselves and gain
direct knowledge of all that is pure and uncontaminated that is, presumably, of Truth.
(Phaedo 67a b). Socrates also talks about the importance of purification of the mind
as another solution, which ends up coming back to the separation of the soul from the
body. This can be seen when Socrates
Essay about Malcolm X
Malcolm s life is a Horatio Alger story with a twist. His is not a rags to riches tale,
but a powerful narrative of self transformation from petty hustler to internationally
known political leader. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Louise and Earl Little,
who was a Baptist preacher active in Marcus Garvey s Universal Negro Improvement
Association, Malcolm, along with his siblings, experienced dramatic confrontations
with racism from childhood. Hooded Klansmen burned their home in Lansing,
Michigan; Earl Little was killed under mysterious circumstances; welfare agencies
split up the children and eventually committed Louise Little to a state mental
institution; and Malcolm was forced to live in a detention home run by... Show more

On other issues, however, Malcolm showed signs of independence from the NOI
line. During the mid 1950s, for example, he privately scoffed at Muhammad s
interpretation of the genesis of the white race and seemed uncomfortable with the
idea that all white people were literally devils. He was always careful to preface his
remarks with The honorable Elijah Muhammad teaches. . . . More significantly,
Malcolm clearly disagreed with the NOI s policy of not participating in politics.
He not only believed that political mobilization was indispensable but occasionally
defied the rule by supporting boycotts and other forms of protest. In 1962, before
he split with the NOI, Malcolm shared the podium with black, white, and Puerto
Rican labor organizers in the left wing, multiracial hospital workers union in New
York. He also began developing an independent Pan Africanist and, in some respects,
Third World political perspective during the 1950s, when anticolonial wars and
decolonization (see Decolonization in Africa: An Interpretation) were pressing
public issues. As early as 1954 Malcolm gave a speech comparing the situation in
Vietnam (see Vietnam War) with that of the Mau Mau Rebellion in colonial Kenya,
framing both of these movements as uprisings of the darker races creating a tidal
wave against U.S. and

There are Italian neighbourhoods and Vietnamese neighbourhoods in this city; there
are Chinese ones and Ukrainian ones and Pakistani ones and Korean ones and
African ones. Name a region on the planet and there s someone from there, here. All
of them sit on Ojibway land, but hardly any of them know it or care because that

have to look, though, but it could be that what they know hurts them already, and
what if they found out something even more damaging? These are people who are
used to the earth beneath them shifting, and they all want it to stop and if that means
they must pretend to know nothing, well, that s the sacrifice they make. But as at any

Essay on A Psychological Analysis of Alice Walker s...
A Psychological Analysis of Alice Walker s Everyday Use
The human mind is divided into three parts that make up the mind as a whole.
These parts are necessary to have a complete mind, just as the members of a family
are needed to make up the entire family. The use of components to equal a whole is
often exercised in literature. Alice Walker s short story, Everyday Use, contains the
idea of family and of the mind, therefore her work can be evaluated through
psychological methods. Through their actions, the characters symbolize the three
different parts of the mind: the id, the ego, and the superego.
The first type of mind division, the id, constantly strives to satisfy basic drives...[and]

Maggie s personality is closely connected to the ego section because of her powerful
desire to do right and to solve her problems realistically. Mama explains that after
dinner Dee went to the trunk at the foot of [the] bed...Maggie hung back in the
kitchen over the dishpan (Walker 95). As Dee tries to usurp the quilts from her
mother, Maggie tries to help her mother by doing the dishes. Maggie tries to act
morally while Dee tries to take advantage of her mother. While discussing the
rightful owner of the quilts, Maggie said, She can have them, Mama ...like
somebody used to never winning anything, or having anything reserved for her
(Walker 97). Instead of fighting over the quilts, Maggie willingly gives them to her
sister. Even though Maggie wishes to have them, she does not want to produce
conflict in her family. Maggie is accustomed to getting less than her sister and has an
unselfish personality. Her actions are parallel to an ego because the ego defines
moral actions.
Finally, Myers states that the superego strives for perfection and judges our actions,
producing positive feelings of pride or negative feelings of guilt (380). The superego
acts as the mind s conscience. In the story, the narrator, Mama, clearly represents the
superego portion of the mind structure because of her guilty conscience and her
wishes to be perfect, both mentally and physically.
Negative Effects Of Violence In Hockey
Violence has always been an intrinsic element in contributing to the popularity of
men s professional hockey. However, violence in the game of hockey does not stem
from the individual themselves but from the influence of society. Throughout this
paper I argue that although violence in men s hockey appears to be systemic to the
players of the game, societal genderstereotypes and spectator expectations also
contribute towards inciting violencein the sport. From various scholarly articles, I
reveal that societal standards placed upon men in the professional hockey league
obligates them to maintain an image of masculinity, inevitably leading towards
violence on the rink. In addition, spectators generate violence in the sport through
placing most of their interests on the brutality between players, further increasing the
pressure for men to deliver under such expectations. I argue that ultimately an
incentive to change the violent nature of the hockey culture should be implemented.
Through educating younger players on the negative effects of violence in hockey at a
greater social context, long term change can eventually be established.
Present society has cultivated gender ideologies, such that the distinction between
masculinity and femininity has been defined through social construction. From birth
to childhood, gender norms are learned from what our parents teach us, what is
taught in school, and what is depicted in the media. In the sport of hockey, a majority

Ammonium Nitrate Lab Report
Organic sources of nitrogen have shown to assist the development of many different
plants, such as spore germination. An experiment was conducted to see if ammonium
nitrate would indeed help with spore germination pertaining to the C Fern,
Ceratopteris richardii. The experiment consisted of two different dishes, each
containing a different culture one with ammonium nitrate and the other without. It
was hypothesized that the control group, the petri dish without the ammonium
nitrate, will have a higher rate of germinated spores compared to the experimental
group, the petri dish with ammonium nitrate. The results revealed that although in
each group the control had more geminated spores that there was no significant
difference or variance. So the hypothesis was correct in terms of which would have
more geminated spores. All in all, the experimental design had several openings for
error so if the experiment were to be repeated a more controlled environment should
be used. Vascular plants have been around for millions of years and have
revolutionized the world s ecology ever since their first appearance. A prime example
of a vascular plantwould be ferns, which was one of the first known vascular plants on
earth. Two characteristics that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was done by having two petri dishes one with ammonium nitrate, experimental,
and one without ammonium nitrate, control, and then counting the amount of spores
each one germinated. The specific fern that will be used is the C Fern, Ceratopteris
richardii, because they have the ability to develop gametophytes rapidly over a short
period of time (C Fern?, 2014). Therefore, my hypothesis is that the control group, the
petri dish without the inorganic nitrogen, will have a higher rate of germinated spores
compared to the experimental group, the petri dish with inorganic nitrogen
Overview of Quality Systems and Costs
Quality Systems and Costs Preventive and corrective actions are very similar
concepts in a quality control system, as both are geared towards ensuring that flaws
or deviations from standard products are fixed such that the company does not pass
lesser quality products to consumers or spent unnecessary sums in fixing problems
after the fact (Quality Progress, 2012). There is an essential difference between
preventive and corrective action, however; the former refers to proactive actions
that take place before problems are encountered actions that prevent flaws/deviations
/etc. while corrective actions are taken after the afct to ensure that an observed error
in a system is not repeated and that the fewest possible amount of output is affected
by the system error these actions correct problems that lead to flaws/deviations/etc
(Quality Progress, 2012). Though this might not appear an especially significant
difference at first glance, it can have profound impact on quality control systems and
perspectives, and is very important to take note of (Quality Progress, 2012). The four
major categories of quality costsare preventive costs, appraisal or inspections costs,
internal failure costs, and external failure costs (Accounting for Management, 2012).
Preventive costs, as might be inferred from the description of preventive actions
given above, are costs that are incurred in the prevention of flaw/deviations/etc n the
output of a given company, while appraisal or inspection
Corruption In Canterbury Tales
A medieval miller was a worker that would grind grain at the mill to produce flour
and meal. In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, the Miller is a deceitful
man that advances in her career through deception and tells a fabliau, a comical
fable told in verse that is characterized by sexual obscenity. Fabliaux were generally
told by jongleurs, or medieval entertainers. This particular fabliau is a bawdy tale
that discusses a scandalous affair. Through the Miller s description as a thieving and
scheming peasant and the Miller s raunchy tale, Chaucer criticizes the dangerous
precedent of corruption set by the nobilitywhich consequently spreads to all classes
due to esteem and success amassed by corruption and the stereotype of the Third
Estate or lower class as lewd and having a lack of intelligence.
Chaucer s description of the Miller as deceitful and thieving through his appearance
and actions criticizes the upper class tendency to underestimate the ability of the
lower class. The upper class is so consumed with maintaining their image of affluence
and looking down on the lower class, they fail to recognize that peasants can learn to
imitate their habits of corruption that lead to immense wealth. The Miller is depicted
as a well built, muscular man who wears a whit cote and a blew hood and has a red
beard as any sowe or fox that would steal from his customers by selling his grain for
three times its worth, yit he hadde a thombe of gold (554,565 566). The Miller
Approaches For Optimize Routing Paths For A Majority

IV. Approaches for DMME in LTE
DMMEs are predicted to optimize routing paths for a majority of routed traffic [6].
This is because during any given time more than 60% of the users in the network are
non mobiles. DMMEs are also expected to reduce tunneling overhead and network
signaling loads, Lastly, the single point of failure issue in is expected to be eradicated
with DMMEs since the management is distributed at the ARs instead of being
managed at the same entity [5]. I will discuss some in depth approaches that help
provide these functionalities and optimizations.
The MIPv6 DMME approach is able to support global and local mobility [7]. The
UE can move between different ARs and domains. It is important to know there is not
a guarantee ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon attaching to the local address, the UE configures a new IP address. The UE uses
this IP address as a source address to start new sessions. The traffic of these sessions
is then routed dynamically without tunneling. If these sessions end before
undergoing a handover, then there is no reason to keep the local address as the
anchor. If the UE endures one or more handovers before ending its sessions, then
the UE manages the mobility by sending a binding update (BU) to the local
address, which acknowledges with a binding acknowledgement (BA). A tunnel
becomes established between the UE and the local address for the data packets of its
sessions. After the UE is attached to a new local address, it uses a new IP address to
start new sessions.
For the second scenario, the UE moves into a zone where ARs are implementing
the local address functionalities but not the others. To know if the UE is attached
to a local address or an AR, the UE checks during the attachment phase in the router
advertisement (RA) message. There are two possible outcomes once this happens
depending on the H bit in the RA message [8]. If the H bit is one, then the UE is
attached to a LAR and can used as an anchor for new sessions. If the H bit is zero,
it is attached to a classical AR and should select an existing anchoring LAR as an
anchor for the new sessions. Using the UEs current local address associated with its
selected LAR, start new UE sessions. The UEs

Direct applicability is the capacity of E.U. law to immediately form part of national
law of Member States without a need for any further implementation .
Directives do not automatically form a part of English law, and therefore Rochelle
needs to rely on the doctrine of direct effect if she is to succeed with this Directive.
Direct effect applies in principle, to all binding EU law. Broadly the doctrine is
provisions of binding EU law which are sufficiently clear, precise, and
unconditional to be justiciable can be invoked and relied on by individuals, before
national courts , however such definitions are disputed. (Page 180 181 EU LAW text

Van Gend Loos established the doctrine of direct effect; this case involved two
conflicting laws between a Dutch customs law (national law) and Article 30 of the
TFEU. The Government argued that Article 30 conferred rights and obligations
between states, and were not enforceable at the suit of individuals i.e. the company
Van Gend en Loos. In addition it was claimed that the treaty provided enforcement
procedures under Articles 258 and 259 of the TFEU. In Advocate General Romer s
opinion, Art.30 TFEU was too complex to be enforced by national courts .
Notwithstanding this, the article was held directly effective by the Court of Justice, it
was stated that EU law imposes obligations upon individuals, but also confers on
them legal rights . The courts saw the doctrine of
The Greater Cleveland Food Bank
Introduction The Greater Cleveland Food Bank is a non profit food distribution
organization that serves Northeastern Ohio and was founded in 1979. The
organization seeks to bring nutritious meals those that are most affected by hunger
and poor nutrition in the region, such as low income families and elderly. The
organization is headquartered on the eastern side of Cleveland, OH. 1
Statement of need, purpose, rationale
Nutrition plays an important role in one s health, an unhealthy diet can be a
contributing factor for overall poor health. In fact, it can even lead to numerous

disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, affecting 11.3% of adults
or 26.6 million. 4 Childhood obesity has been an increasing issue in the United

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Comparison
One Flew Over Shutter Island When I watched One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest
(Forman, 1975), I was reminded of a movie I had watched a couple years earlier.
The movie Shutter Island (Scorsese, 2010) resembles One Flew Over the Cuckoo s
Nest (referred to as Cuckoo s Nest after this) in many surprising ways. For starters,
both of these films are filmed almost entirely in mental institutions. Cuckoo s Nest
follows the story of a man named R.P. McMurphy when he s placed into a mental
institution after pretending to be mentally ill. Shutter Island, however, is about a
U.S. Marshall named Teddy Daniels who is investigating the disappearance of an
escaped, criminally insane patient at an institution located on an isolated island. At
the beginning of Shutter Island, Daniels and his partner Chuck Aule are seen
heading to an island in a ferry. Daniels is obviously seasick and Chuck checks on
him to make sure he s okay. The ferry they re on can be seen rocking side to side,
which seems to be giving the audience the idea that just as the ferry is unstable, so
are Daniels and his partner. This instability unravels as the plot progresses, with
Daniels finally making the realization that he s a delusional patient himself at the end
of the movie. The music at the beginning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John Cawley. Nurse Ratched is an oppressor to the patients. She also seems to
represent the institution s hold over their lives. She s seen as a babysitter or
caregiver to the patients and she always keeps track of them as if they re children.
Likewise, Dr. John Cawley often restricts Daniels from doing what he needs to do for
his investigation. He appears in many unexpected places, such as in the lighthouse at
the end of the movie, keeping watch over Daniels. Dr. John Cawley brings Daniels
closer and closer to discovering the truth about himself throughout the
The Resurrection Of Jesus Sparknotes
This paper is a review of the book The Resurrection of Jesus: A New
Historiographical Approach by Michael Licona. This book is comprised of pages that
investigate the question of the historicity of Jesus resurrection while providing
unprecedented interaction with the literature of professional historians outside of the
community of biblical scholars on both hermeneutical and methodological
considerations. The book is separated into five long chapters: Chapter 1: Important
Consideration pertaining to Historical Truth , Chapter 2: The Historians and
Miracles , Chapter 3: Historical Sources Pertaining to the Resurrection of Christ ,
Chapter 4: The Historical Bedrock Pertaining to the Fate of Jesus, and Chapter 5:
Weighing Hypothesis . Licona tackles the research of world historians who
interpreted relevant data and draw their own conclusions. Evidence throughout the
book proves Licona s interest in horizons and objectivity. He outlines several
strategies for eliminating bias perspectives and public appeals. It is evident that
knowing the past involves many challenges. Therefore, since the past is forever gone,
it can never be viewed directly nor reconstructed. Chapter 1 deals with a significant
considerations pertaining to historical truth. Licona surveyed several topics on how
historians gain the extent of knowledge and the validity of truth.
Historians gained assistance by initiating investigations and developing steps to
minimize biases, the need for a

  • 1. Sample Mba Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Sample MBA Essay" can pose a considerable challenge, requiring a delicate balance between showcasing your unique qualities and adhering to the expected norms of MBA application essays. The difficulty lies in articulating your professional journey, academic achievements, and personal attributes in a way that not only aligns with the expectations of admissions committees but also stands out amidst a sea of other applicants. To begin with, you must delve into introspection to unearth compelling anecdotes and experiences that highlight your leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and a clear sense of purpose. This self-reflection is not a simple task, as it demands a nuanced understanding of your own strengths and weaknesses. Moreover, the essay must be structured with precision, maintaining a coherent flow while effectively addressing specific prompts or questions. The challenge here is to strike a balance between humility and confidence, demonstrating self-awareness without sounding arrogant. Each paragraph should seamlessly connect to the next, forming a narrative that captivates the reader's attention and leaves a lasting impression. Additionally, the essay must adhere to the stringent word count limitations typically imposed by MBA programs. Condensing your life story, aspirations, and qualifications into a concise yet comprehensive piece requires careful word choice and a keen understanding of what truly matters to the admissions committee. • 3. Doodle Armstrong Death Analysis Your honor, we all have our different opinions about the death of Doodle Armstrong. But I am here to tell you why I believe that Doodle s brother was the cause of this tragic death. Brother left Doodle back in the rain when he KNEW he had problems walking, he was very cruel to Doodle, and he ALWAYS put himself before Doodle. At the end of the case your honor you will know that brother was the cause to the death of Doodle Armstrong. Judge Meedel I would like to start off by showing you how brother impacted in this death. Doodle struggled when it came to walking and brother knew that but he didn t seem to care. If he cared then he would have stopped and help Doodle through the storm but he DIDN T, he left him there. • 5. Theme Across Genres Essay Chapter 2 Theme Across Different Genres It has become a daily conflict for most people in the world to experience or witness discrimination of another race, gender, identity, or appearance of someone else. What people don t realize is that just because someone may appear or identify different, doesn t mean they are at a lower or higher status than you. I grew up in a very diverse area. My elementary school had a program for students learning English who came from outside of the United States. There were hundreds of students from other countries at my school, which helped me build up a confidence that I should be proud to be different, because nobody at my school was the exact same. Diversity is something that every person should be proud ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The song lyrics in Where is the Love relate to what Catherine learns about accepting Jason and David s differences. The lyrics say that if you only love your own kind, then you only have space to hate others. Catherine learns that the whole world isn t like the OT clinic where differences don t matter, and that there will be people who aren t as aware of others differences. Both texts also show no matter what someone else thinks doesn t mean that you have to think that same way. Towards the end of Rules, Kristi shows that she was weirded out by the fact that Catherine s friend was in a wheelchair and couldn t talk. In Where is the Love , it says that no matter how much madness you show, it s not going to change the thoughts of someone else. No matter how much a person strongly dislikes someone elses differences, they will not change and there is nothing that person can do to change those differences to their liking, and that s what makes us all unique. Both texts show that you can t change a person because of your own opinion, and we have to accept that. Just because the person next to you appears different and isn t exactly like you, doesn t mean you have the rights to bother them about their differences, because you can t change them and they are in fact, no different than
  • 6. Edward Snowden and Wikileaks Since the beginning of modern technology people have worried about being looked upon or spied on without their knowing. Even before the internet was invented some people worried about their phone calls being recorded or listened in on without their knowledge. In 1997 when the internet was common in most households this made this idea of people being spied on much easier and on a wider scale. The first proven threat of internetsurveillancewas in 2001 when the NSA(National Security Agency) did a Large scale warrantless surveillance (Risen Bush Lets U.S Spy ) of internet traffic and data streams. This surveillance program was a way to gather data and prevent terrorist attacks. However some speculated that this was not just to monitor the activities of suspected terrorists. In 2013 when Edward Snowden released data that proved that the NSA was using their surveillance on everyone it turned speculation into fact and fears of this were brought to the surface. In the summer of 2013 one of the biggest leaks of classified documents was carried out by a man named Edward Snowden (E. McAskill) . Edward Snowden worked as an sysamin (System Administrator) for a security company that did contract work for the NSA. During his time working at this company he released an estimated two hundred thousand classified documents. Within these documents was evidence that the United States was performing a large scale surveillance operation of its people (B. Denson). It is estimated that

Its unique style was evidenced by its use of bottles that resembled classic beer bottles and by pricing higher than for regular soft drinks. Despite its small size, the company has enjoyed huge success in the soda market. However, just like any other beverage manufacturer, the Jones Soda Company has to continue reinventing the wheel and come up with new product to meet changing customer needs. To achieve this, Jones Soda has come up with a health drink to be marketed to the public. Mission statement JSC is entitled to production of unique and different... Concerning the negativities, consumers have become increasingly aware of the environmental effects of plastic bottles and bottled beverages, encouraging companies to alter their corporate practices. Jones Soda brand Beverage Company has also seen a rise in the number of consumers who attempt to save money by switching to bulk fresh juice. This is a blow to the company owing to its high priced products. Another threat is the fact that the fact that the Corn syrup, which Jones Soda has been using as a sweetener for its soft drinks, has become more expensive due to high demand for corn. This made the company opt for sugar cane, which is also a threat due to the recent consumer trends toward healthy living are a cause for concern for JSC that sell sugar based products (Maxwell, 2009). Recent research showing a correlation between unhealthy diet choices among young consumers and serious health problems, including diabetes, has generated a consumer backlash against many consumer product companies. Similarly, American Airlines announcement to end its deal with Jones Soda, has renders the company at risk of making huge losses as far as selling its products is

Timezone: CST (United States) Why should I be chosen: The key to a staff team, in my opinion, is professionalism and experience. In my opinion I am a lot more experienced than the average player applying.I am 100% professional whilst also being fairly experienced as a staff member on multiple other servers. Furthermore I m not at all toxic as you can see from my previous offences which are literally non existant. I m aware that being helpful in teamspeak and in game is vital as the server s staff members are its representatives and therefore must be working hard at all times. I can prove to you that I have NEVER griefed or abused on any servers I ve had the privilege of being staff on NOR do I plan to. Obviously there must be lots of players applying every single day however in my opinion I believe I can be a staff member who wont need much teaching but will make sure to ask questions rather than mess up. Furthermore, I believe it is vital for a staff member to have plenty of experience but not just that; they also need to have determination. No matter how hard the task is they should be willing to improve/learn and do the best to their ability.I believe I have this experience and determination. Every time I log into the server I will be on teamspeak. I will look at the support channels often and help those who need help. If I can t help
  • 9. The Birth Order Effect On Personality The Birth Order Effect on Personality: Is there a Cause or no Cause? Roxan Rivas Introduction Throughout the years, researchers have come to believe that birth order is an important factor in our lives, almost as important as gender or even genetics. This ties back to the old Nature vs Nurture theory, where it is not only our biology that defines who we are and what we do, it is a mixture of both our environment and our genes that help us develop as a whole. Whether you are an only child, a first born, last born, or somewhere in between, some researchers have found that this is important in defining your character, your values, goal orientation, and life successes. Psychology has gone through periods of accepting these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The GSS allows comparison between first born(FB) and later born(LB) from different families. Overall, these two articles put into perspective the validity of birth order but also the general development of personalities and achievement goals within children. These two perspectives are helpful in depicting some uprising issues with both theories and will give us a holistic view on the topic. The first article communicates that birth order has an effect on personality and achievement. One of the things that these researchers noticed is that there are many differences between family designs such as social class, parental personality, and sibling size. However, they do not attempt to control this as much because they feel it takes away from the natural control of the study. Their predictions were that first born (FBs) would be more conscientious and achieving while later born (LBs) would be perceived as more liberal, agreeable, and rebellious. They collected 4 within family data sets by asking respondents to compare themselves to their siblings on various personality and achievement dimensions. In study one, students from the University of California, Berkeley were asked to nominate the rebel and the achiever in their families. Study 2 also had the same

Lynne Ramsay s We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011) is a thriller drama which follows Eva Khatchadourian, a widowed mother in distress due to the massacre caused by her psychopathic son. Ramsay uses various film techniques to portray the perspective and emotional state of Eva in the film. Through colour, sound and music he expresses her feelings clearly to the audience. Colour was widely explored by Ramsay to depict the extensive array of feelings of Eva. Two prominent colours were red and yellow. Red is used as the dominant colour to depict Eva s inability to escape from the guilt and blood caused by the actions of Kevin, her son. Although... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He implements music in contrast to the mood of Eva to express to the audience her emotional state. A wide array of blues music were often utilised to contrast Eva s mood. Ham N Eggs by Lonnie Donegan was used when Eva was driving to the jail from work. Her mood highly contrasts with the uplifting tone of the music as she has just visited her son in jail. Music was also used to give hints as to the actions of Eva. As Eva was frantically searching Kevin s room, the song In My Room by The Beach Boys began playing. The blues song contained lyrics such as, There s a world where I can go and tell my secrets to In my room, in my room. In this world I lock out all my worries and my fears. The lyrics show that Eva was searching for any clues to help her discern the actions and attitude of Kevin. She found nothing to help her determine Kevin s attitude which was ironic to lyrics. Another example of ironic use of music was during Eva s work Christmas party where Colin asks her to dance. Eva shyly rejects the dance and Colin whispers an insult to her. The cheerful song Last Christmas by Wham! is gradually increased in volume to rival Eva s hurt feelings. Ramsay s recurring use of music in aims of ironically contrasting Eva s melancholic state, is clearly expressed to the
  • 11. Analysis Of The Movie Bird On August 29th, 1920, Charlie YardBird Parker landed in this world and 34 years later he flew away. Within those 34 years, music was eternally influenced by Bird, and this influence continues to be celebrated all around the world. In 1988, Clint Eastwood and Joel Oliansky worked together to create a documentary titled Bird based on Charlie Parker s life. There are many story telling techniques used within this film that aid in making it an extremely brilliant motion picture. Bird is very accurate in portraying the reality of Charlie Parker s life, and this accuracy is important because it will help to present and therefore preserve his legacy. Movie critic for the Chicago Sun Times Roger Ebert explains this scene, It shows him touring the West Coast and hearing some simple truths one night from Gillespie, who told him that the difference between them was that Diz took care of business, and Charlie took care of screwing up. Gillespie was not a heavy drinker or an avid drug user, unlike Charlie. In that way these two musical legends were complete opposites. Because Bird focuses on this contrasting relationship, we are given a clearer idea of who Parker was. Included in the aspects of Bird that make it such a great film is the outstanding acting performance by Forest Whitaker, who played Charlie Parker, and Diane Venora who played Chan Richardson. Some critics believe that Bird was a bit too scattered, but was held together smoothly because of Forest Whitaker s acting. Forest Whitaker s brilliance is the force that holds the scattered pieces of Bird together. Only rarely in movies do characters achieve this sort of palpability, and then only when presented to us by a remarkable performer. And this is a remarkable performer giving a gentle, exuberant, charismatic performance, proclaims Washington Post Staff Writer Hal Hinson. With such pressure to portray the center focus of the film, Whitaker truly delivers an excellent representation of the mysterious musical genius many of us have gotten to know through recordings. Diane Venora s performance

Because the human ecological footprint is reaching the point of limitation, it is only necessary that humans learn how to adapt and develop more efficient, sustainable states. Today, many cities are faced with the issue of heavily contaminated and polluted domestic water due to the failure of proper treatment and disposal. This event occurs when pollutants and particulates come into contact and engage with water resources. In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, residents and local officials continue to debate over the practices of drilling, waste management, and coal mining within their district. These practices are the lead cause to Pittsburgh s poor water quality. As a result, residents of Pittsburgh and those who live along the border the city, are victims of dangerous wastewater which have the potential to cause deadly diseases and illnesses like malaria and cholera. The problem of water pollution in Pittsburgh has become an issue politically, because local officials debate over the treatment of toxic wastes; socially, because the people of Pittsburgh and those living near its rivers are victimized; and economically, because the city relies on its industries to avoid further debt. There are many reasons to why Pittsburgh fails to successfully treat its polluted water
  • 13. Integrated Services Digital Network ( Isdn ) Before we get into the discussion, let s briefly introduce some of the technologies used in WANs and the different characteristics of each one: Point to point links A so called point to point link (Fig. 2.0) provides a pre established WAN communication path from the user s location trough a telephone company s network, also known as the carrier. For this kind of line, the carrier dedicates pairs of wire and hardware to that line only. This kind of circuits are priced depending on bandwidth needed and distance to be covered. (Figure 2.0 Point to point link) Circuit Switching Work like a normal telephone line. Data connections can be started when needed and terminated when the communication is over. An example of circuit switching is called Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN). When a router receives data that s intended to go to a specific remote site, the switched circuit (Fig. 2.1) is initiated with a specific circuit number for that particular network. As soon the two networks that are trying to connect get the authentication done, it is possible to transfer data. When data transmission is over, the communication gets terminated. (Figure 2.1 Switched Circuit) Packet Switching Here users share common carrier resources (Fig. 2.2). This is a more cost effective solution compared for example to point to point lines. The carrier can make more efficient use of its infrastructure. Connections into the carrier s network are shared between many customers and

Selenium Disappearing As I walked past the paper office building I pass every day, something was different; the windows were tinted green and the regular red tinted windows were no longer tinted red. Intrigued, I walked into the building a saw a strange sight, many people complaining and groaning about their knee joints aching. To help them out, I went over to the copier and printer only to realize that it was not functioning properly. After thinking for a while, I concluded that the element Selenium is disappearing. After looking into the copier, I saw that it was not functioning due to the lack of Selenium. Selenium in laser printers and photocopiers serve as a semi conductor, meaning it is a substance that is in between conductors and non conductors. Selenium is not only common in laser printers and photocopiers, but also it is used in the development in transistors in computers and cell phones. After walking away from the copier, I went over to my friend Greg and asked why his knee joints were aching. He told me that he normally takes a dose of Selenium a day to strengthen his joints. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most essential reason of methadone being such a controversy is that methadone has potential side effects, such as drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision , and thus can put someone under the danger of an automobile accident. It is true that the defendant may be convicted of DUI by methadone due to his inconsistent driving, but the conviction depends on a two part test by the prosecution. First, the blood test conducted at a state approved and certified lab must show appropriate threshold levels of the drug in the defendant s system (Goodnough 1). Secondly, the police and the prosecution must prove that the driver who tests positive for the medication was impaired to the point that he or she was incapable of safe driving (Goodnough 1). However, both of these tests are subjective measurements of one s level of impairment, and therefore, cannot avoid having some uncertainties. During the blood test, for example, the presence of clots in the blood sample can artificially increase the drug concentration on the report since blood is a heterogeneous mixture, which often forms clots. The possibility of blood clotting cannot be ignored because it occurs very frequently for many reasons, such as certain

In Columbine , Dave Cullen analyses how and why Eric and Dylan massacred those people. When viewed in hindsight, events such as this are inspected to every minute detail; there are always ways to change the outcome. Gardner s response time was delayed because he was not on campus to hear the first shots, and therefore did not see Eric and Dylan walk into the school. Around 11:23, 4 minutes after the shooting started, Gardner pulled up to the school. (49). Gardner tried to locate where the shooting and explosions were coming from, almost as confused as some of the students. As Gardner stepped out of his car, Eric spotted the patrol lights and fired 10 shots at him. Gardner took cover behind the car, uninjured. He fired 4 shots at Eric with his pistol, missing all 4. Eric fired a few more shots, and pushed back into the school (51). Following protocol, Gardner did not follow Eric inside the school. As Eric reappeared in the west exit doorway, Gardner opened fire, as well as Deputy Paul Smoker; Eric was not hit. Eric retreated back inside the building (55). Dylan had no indication of a contingency (45). This implies that he may have not proceeded with the rest of the shooting if Eric had been shot down. Dylan was more depressed that homicidal; he probably would have committed suicide instead of going on to shoot more students, if given the chance. Additionally, it is possible that he felt threatened by Eric to go through with the shooting; if that influence was taken away, the event may not have

When you initially look at the image, it is quite disturbing because of the liquid substance dripping down the boy s abdomen. Without the explanatory title, the substance could be anything. On first inspection it appeared to me to be dirt, which in my opinion would make more sense. Why would Popsicle drips be on the boy s naked body in the first place? This naked picture is the only photograph in the entire body of work that shows full frontal male nudity. The viewer may feel uncomfortable looking at the image as it is highly provocative in its subject s pose, and the added Popsicle drips add an element of physicality. It was the first time a Republican was elected since Herbert Hoover in 1928. The Eisenhower administration started at a rather awkward time, both politically and economically. First of all there was a war on. The Korean War had begun in June of 1950 and was still waging. As was usual for wartime the country was economically prosperous. However, the war had caused President Truman to abandon his former restraints on government spending. I suggest implementing federal public works projects as a way of creating jobs without burdening the government with additional expenses. Ideas for these public works projects are: the construction of a Saint Lawrence Seaway, and an Interstate Highway System. This system would be a massive undertaking and would be one of the largest construction projects of all time but it would create many jobs for Americans who are no longer employed by the war effort (Branyan and Larsen, 251). The Republican party has not been happy with the nations economic policies for quite some time. These are the policies of the Democrats, and more specifically those of the New Deal and the Fair Deal. This theory suggests that, delinquent individuals seek to maximise their profits and reduce their losses. This is dependent on the information that is available to them at the time of committing the offence. There are so many different things that can affect the way all living organisms live and die. In this paper, I will discuss the time that is between the cradle and the grave and how we are affected by our genes, free radicals, and everyday choices. The term Aging refers to in specific human beings, many animals, and fungi. Organisms such as bacteria, recurrent plants and some simple animals are theoretically immortal. Ageing can refer to single cells within an organismwhich have ceased dividing, also known as cellular senescence. Many don t consider the everyday choices and how their bodies will respond. Whether it s going to the beach with no sunscreen or going to a BBQ and eating a big greasy burger. The littlest things will cause our bodies to react in our own ways. In humans, ageing represents the buildup of changes in an individual over time, including physical, psychological, and social change. Response time may slow with age, while experiencing world events, our wisdom may expand, but our bodies will slow down. Ageing is comparable to risk factors for most human diseases, approximately 150,000 people die each day globally, about two thirds die from age related causes. The causes of ageing are still uncertain, some theories place blame on the damage concept, this means it s the accumulation of damage, such as DNA breaks or oxidized DNA. This

It is not necessarily the physical body itself, as much as it is the desires that it brings with it. With the question of human condition being answered, Socrates now can answer another one of our fundamental questions. This question is Solution. Solution proposes a way to fix what has gone with the world and mankind. In Socrates eyes, the world s greatest problem was the attachment to the human body. He proposes that this can be fixed by detaching oneself from the body. Socrates partially explains this by saying It seems that so long as we are alive, we shall keep as close as possible to knowledge if we avoid as much as we can all contact and association with the body, except when absolutely necessary; and instead of allowing ourselves to become infected with its nature, purify ourselves from it until God himself gives us deliverance. In this way, by keeping ourselves uncontaminated by the follies of the body, we shall probably reach the company of others like ourselves and gain direct knowledge of all that is pure and uncontaminated that is, presumably, of Truth. (Phaedo 67a b). Socrates also talks about the importance of purification of the mind as another solution, which ends up coming back to the separation of the soul from the body. This can be seen when Socrates

These parts are necessary to have a complete mind, just as the members of a family are needed to make up the entire family. The use of components to equal a whole is often exercised in literature. Alice Walker s short story, Everyday Use, contains the idea of family and of the mind, therefore her work can be evaluated through psychological methods. Through their actions, the characters symbolize the three different parts of the mind: the id, the ego, and the superego. The first type of mind division, the id, constantly strives to satisfy basic drives...[and] seeks immediate gratification ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Dee tries to usurp the quilts from her mother, Maggie tries to help her mother by doing the dishes. Maggie tries to act morally while Dee tries to take advantage of her mother. While discussing the rightful owner of the quilts, Maggie said, She can have them, Mama ...like somebody used to never winning anything, or having anything reserved for her (Walker 97). Instead of fighting over the quilts, Maggie willingly gives them to her sister. Even though Maggie wishes to have them, she does not want to produce conflict in her family. Maggie is accustomed to getting less than her sister and has an unselfish personality. Her actions are parallel to an ego because the ego defines moral actions. Finally, Myers states that the superego strives for perfection and judges our actions, producing positive feelings of pride or negative feelings of guilt (380). The superego acts as the mind s conscience. In the story, the narrator, Mama, clearly represents the superego portion of the mind structure because of her guilty conscience and her wishes to be perfect, both mentally and physically.
  • 46. Negative Effects Of Violence In Hockey Violence has always been an intrinsic element in contributing to the popularity of men s professional hockey. However, violence in the game of hockey does not stem from the individual themselves but from the influence of society. Throughout this paper I argue that although violence in men s hockey appears to be systemic to the players of the game, societal genderstereotypes and spectator expectations also contribute towards inciting violencein the sport. From various scholarly articles, I reveal that societal standards placed upon men in the professional hockey league obligates them to maintain an image of masculinity, inevitably leading towards violence on the rink. In addition, spectators generate violence in the sport through placing most of their interests on the brutality between players, further increasing the pressure for men to deliver under such expectations. I argue that ultimately an incentive to change the violent nature of the hockey culture should be implemented. Through educating younger players on the negative effects of violence in hockey at a greater social context, long term change can eventually be established. Present society has cultivated gender ideologies, such that the distinction between masculinity and femininity has been defined through social construction. From birth to childhood, gender norms are learned from what our parents teach us, what is taught in school, and what is depicted in the media. In the sport of hockey, a majority of these

Overview of Quality Systems and Costs Quality Systems and Costs Preventive and corrective actions are very similar concepts in a quality control system, as both are geared towards ensuring that flaws or deviations from standard products are fixed such that the company does not pass lesser quality products to consumers or spent unnecessary sums in fixing problems after the fact (Quality Progress, 2012). There is an essential difference between preventive and corrective action, however; the former refers to proactive actions that take place before problems are encountered actions that prevent flaws/deviations /etc. while corrective actions are taken after the afct to ensure that an observed error in a system is not repeated and that the fewest possible amount of output is affected by the system error these actions correct problems that lead to flaws/deviations/etc (Quality Progress, 2012). The traffic of these sessions is then routed dynamically without tunneling. If these sessions end before undergoing a handover, then there is no reason to keep the local address as the anchor. If the UE endures one or more handovers before ending its sessions, then the UE manages the mobility by sending a binding update (BU) to the local address, which acknowledges with a binding acknowledgement (BA). A tunnel becomes established between the UE and the local address for the data packets of its sessions.
