Increasing Vehicle Outsourcing ( % Of Car Value ) Essay
In a finished product, out of most of the industries only one particular company, provide a very little
amount of the total value. Hence to improve the process within the company lean techniques are used
so that the total impact will not be high when it is applied to a broader supply chain. Figure 1.
Increasing vehicle outsourcing (% of car value). The above fig represents the birth place of lean,
which is an automotive industry and it shows the trend towards outsource and vehicle s total value.
And, it represents the trend of the three European makers accordingly. Lean techniques have shown a
positive trend within the companies and in broader supply chain. To understand across a broader chain
supply, the three principles namely pull, level loaded work and synchronization helps understanding
the interaction between the suppliers and customers or within a company. The trend of implementing
lean technology has grown into a broader spectrum. The Toyota production the TPS were applied

Christian Response To Black Death
Christian and Muslim responses to the Black Death were different but had some similarities like what
caused the plague and how to prevent to plague. I am going to be talking about the differences
between the two. There are three reason why they are different cause and explanations, responses by
the living, and general context of the plague. The next paragraph will be talking about the context of
the plague.
In this paragraph I will be discussing the general context of the Black Death. The plague is believed to
have been caused by fleas on rats. There are three different types of plague bubonic, pneumonic, and
septicemic. Even though all bad septicemic is the worst because it affected the bloodstream. The
second to worst is the pneumonic it affects the respiratory system which killed most of the victims.

The Muslims believe overpopulation, abundance of shooting stars, warm ovens , evil fairies, and
alcohol and prostitution. Prevention are different as well for example. Christians would build fire to
purify the air, live in a house that faced north, covered windows in wax cloth, avoid sleeping on back
those are a few things on how they prevent the plague. The Muslims have different ways they prevent
the plague like eat pickled onions, pumpkin seeds and sour juices, they passed laws against alcohol
and prostitution, avoid sad talk and use letter magic. Next are how they both respond to the Black
Death.
The Muslims believed the Black Death was a gift from God they did not look at it look as punishment
like the christians did. The Christians would for pray god to stop punishing them with the Black
Death. The Muslims were the complete opposite they thought the plague was a Blessing of God. So
the Muslims are accepting of the plague more than the Christians are. All of this leads to the next and

Separation Anxiety in Children
Many parents are all too familiar with the cries of their child that seem to be impossible to calm and
the child that clings to their leg when they are about to leave. The terrible twos are not the only
dreaded stage of child development; this is what is commonly known as separation anxiety. Separation
anxiety is a developmental stage during which the child experiences anxiety when separated from the
primary care giver (McPherson, 2004). Separation anxiety varies widely from child to child and
most commonly occurs between the ages of eight months to two and a half. There are several different
causes of separation anxiety, ways to manage separation anxiety to make it easier for both the child
and the parent, and symptoms and warning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the parent returns, he or she should focus on the positive aspects of the child s day to reassure
the child that everything was okay and remain consistent with the new routine. Since young children
are directly affected by their parents level of comfort, it is important for [the parents] to feel at ease
(Brodkin, 2003).
Some symptoms and warning signs that may indicate that the child is experiencing more than just
separation anxiety are A child who continued to be inconsolable in a new child care or other setting for
more than two weeks And has an ongoing change in behavior (Please Don t Go), reluctance and/or
fear of sleeping alone, nightmares, refusal to go places without the parent, refusal to eat, refusal to
interact with individuals other than the parents or primary caregivers, excessive distress when
separated from the primary caregiver, worry about losing or harm coming to the primary caregiver,
repeated physical complaints (McPherson, 2004). If a child exhibits any of these behaviors or a
combination of the following behaviors, the parents or caregivers of the child should seek medical
attention immediately as well as psychological testing/counseling to discover whether or not a deeper
problem exists.
This stage of separation anxiety can be overwhelming for the primary caregiver. The parents can feel
gratified that their child is attached to them while feeling guilty at the same time

Occupational Therapy Is A Way Of Changing Lives Essay
Occupational therapy is a way of changing lives by means of improving skills used in daily activities
and therefore increasing quality of life. Occupational therapy enhances everyday experiences for a
diverse group of individuals ranging from infants to the elderly, including those with cognitive,
developmental, mental, and physical disabilities. I am excited to pursue a career in occupational
therapy because I realized at a young age that occupational therapists understood my younger sister
with Down syndrome in the same way that I did. They saw her first as a person with many strengths
and abilities that they worked to build upon. OTs acknowledged her ideas and how she enjoyed
playing, which they used as a basis for creating meaningful therapeutic activities. I observed OTs
adapt the environment within my home to fit the wants and needs of my sister while understanding
and developing her as a whole person throughout each therapy session. OTs tremendously impacted
my sister s life by helping her with activities of daily living from infancy to young adulthood, such as
learning to swallow, gripping a spoon, or figuring out modification strategies for getting dressed. For
these reasons along with the foundation of a holistic approach to therapy, occupational therapists tend
to be my favorite healthcare professionals involved in my sister s care. My personal experience along
with my education, research, and professional experiences have led and prepared me to study

Analysis Of Sweetheart Of The Song Tra Bong In Things They...
Things They Carried Essay Anything can change a person if they are not ready for that change. The
short story Sweetheart of The Song Tra Bong, in Things They Carried, by Tim O Brien represents this
by showing change in Mary Anne, who is a character the reader probably would not expect to see in a
book about the Vietnam War. There are many parts show the change in her from the average high
school girl she used to be into a predatory killer, but there is only one reason for her change, and that
is the war itself. The changes Mary Anne goes through in this story stand out very clear. In the
beginning, the quote that introduces Mary Anne is, ...she was seventeen years old, fresh out of
Cleveland Heights Senior High. She had long white legs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can t feel like that anywhere else (O Brien 111). Mary Anne is inevitably drawn to the other side
the other side in this case being the Vietnam War itself. She is not completely part of it yet but she sure
is fascinated by it, and will be part of it soon. She displays the danger of throwing away all separation
between herself and the war. She is at the point where she wants to become one with the war. However
towards the end of the story, Mary Ann becomes a completely different person. This can be shown
perfectly in the quote, She had crossed to the other side. She was part of the land. She was wearing her
culottes, her pink sweater, and a necklace of human tongues. She was dangerous. She was ready for
the kill (O Brien 116).
Going back to the Vietnam War and its effect on Mary Anne. At this point, it can be seen that Mary
Anne has completely crossed over. She has a necklace of human tongues, which is crazy weird.
However, Mary Anne is still wearing her culottes and her pink sweater, the very pieces of clothing that
made her appear so American at the beginning of the story. The reason for Mary Anne s change is not
because of the Vietnamese or even Vietnam, even though it appeared to be at the beginning. It s the
war itself. The war is half Vietnamese and half American. A example that shows Mary Anne going
through her change is in the quote, Mary Anne made you think about those girls back home, how
clean and innocent they all are, how they ll never

The For The Cash Rate Unchanged At 2.0 % Essay
At its meeting today, the Board decided to leave the cash rate unchanged at 2.0%.
The Board s decision is based on the following conditions. According to the January 2016 World
Economic Outlook (WEO) , the growth rate is 3.1% in 2015, which is less than the forecast in 2016
(3.4%) and 2017(3.6%). It is apparent that the global economy is slightly dipped and the economic
recovery is predicted to be moderated in 2016. Besides, the surplus supply in the oil market possibly
be moderated and the members noticed the World Bank adjusted the predicted oil price in 2016 from
$37 per barrel to $41 per barrel , which may drive a growth of the inflation rate. The World Bank also
pointed out that in February, the reduction forecast in metals prices is 8.2%, less than the prediction in
January (10.2%)5. It is inimical to Australia, which is rich in mineral resources.
Moreover, since China is the largest export market of Australia, its slowdown of growth probably
influences the trade with Australia. At 2015, China s GDP increasing rate was 6.9% and reached the
bottom at 6.7% in the first quarter of 2016 . Some trade with Australia, such as iron ore, base metals
and coal, may be affected by this reduction. As a result, we cannot deny that the cash rate may be
influenced by the possible drop in the future. However, the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed by
China and Australia entered into force on 20 December 2015 . Due to the agreement, over 86% of
Australia s goods that export to China

very dark atmosphere, as the only highlighted images are that of Christ and and the adulteress. There
are people surrounding them all dressed in greys and greens. Jesus is dressed in an ivory which is a
color in which people of importance often wore. The adultress life drained body is looking down
towards her exposed breasts as she comes to understand her fate. This painting conveys the emotion of
a bible story about Jesus forgiving an adulteress. The emotions run very high as the individual s facial
expressions are locked in surprise and anger. Anger towards the woman and utter shock as to Jesus
forgiveness and compassionate heart towards her. Showing Christ bending down to write in the sand

According to the Council of Trent and the Catholic church artworks should be a clear, intelligible

Cbs At Walmart
Selling CFLs at Wal Mart Executive Summary: Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) were introduced in
1980 with the purpose of saving energy. They initially were very expensive and consumers were
aware of many flaws that made them hesitant to purchase the bulbs and bring them into their homes.
The positive effects of switching from alternative bulbs to CFLs were overshadowed by media
attention highlighting the issues that remained unresolved. Wal Mart pushed promotional programs in
2007 that were very successful. They introduced a private label at a lower price, offered online
ordering, posititioned the products well, installed interactive displays and engaged with new partners
to promote energy efficiency. In 2009 the CFLs were redesigned and ... Show more content on

Analysis: CFL lightbulbs entered the market at an expensive price, yet the consumers continued to
purchase them. Knowing the bulbs paid for themselves, the tradeoff was worth it. They used 75% less
electricity than incandescent bulbs, lasted 10 times longer and emitted 450 pounds fewer greenhouse
gasses. In previous years consumers relied on incandescent lights that were reliable and much less
expensive than CFLs. CFLs were backed by utility companies that also wanted the product to be a
success, which was obvious through their coupons, trade ins and price promotions. Aside from the
many benefits CFLs offered to consumers, market research showed there were misconceptions that
caused hesitancy in consumer adoption. The original product had problems such as light flickering and
buzzing, needed continual usage to result in energy savings, could not be used with a dimmer, and
recycling the bulbs was not convenient as special measures were needed to dispose of the bulb. By
2009, manufactures had redesigned the bulbs and made significant changes to address the concerns of
customers. Disposal was made easier as mercury levels reduced, the lights could be dimmed, more
sizes and colors were available. The price of the bulb decreased from $25 each to around $3 each.
Eventually CFL s became more popular with consumers and household penetration grew to around
50%. Though household penetration was high, only 26% of households accounted for 76% of all CFL

Westport Home Profile Essay
ABC s new sitcom American Housewife claims Westport, Connecticut is a town where every idiot has
a boat and a labradoodle. Indeed, Westport s defining characteristic is its extravagant wealth. New
York City is only 45 minutes away by train, making Westport a popular location for adults working in
financial or law firms to raise their families. The coastal town offers beaches and boating on the Long
Island Sound and a phenomenal public school system. In addition to funding the excellent public
school system, Westport s wealth creates a beautiful look for the town. Census Tract 503 is in the
sylvan area of Westport. My house sticks out from the large, renovated colonial houses that scatter the
tree filled landscape. It is a small, two story, white Cape Cod that has not been added to since my great
great grandfather built it in the early 1900s. The five houses that surround my own were all originally
built by my great great grandfather as well, but homeowners have since added or extended floors. My
house is dwarfed by those of my neighbors and the rest of Westport. The distribution of wealth is
nearly uniform across the town, and large house size is consequentially consistent across different
neighborhoods. Neighborhoods closer to the beach like Saugatuck Island and Saugatuck Shores lack
heavy tree cover, but houses are also large and colonial, often constructed of wood or stone. Westport
s lavish architecture also reflects its ornate culture. Among adults, large dinner

Essay on The Foundation of the Netherlands
The Foundation of the Netherlands
About twenty percent of the area of the Netherlands and twenty one percent of its population is
located below sea level, and fifty percent of its land lies less than one meter above sea level
(Molenaar) This makes the Netherlands out of all the countries in the world the land with the most
land below sea level. The Netherlands currently has more than seventeen thousand kilometers of flood
defenses (Molenaar) Dikes were the foundation of the Netherlands because they made the Netherlands
grow, well known, and made them a pro at building them, but the dikes also wounded the Netherlands.

Beginning in the late 1920s and continuing for the rest of the century, polders on Lake IJssel were
enclosed and then drained (Rochon). Former fishing ports have now become inland towns; on the
polder, cows wander among the remnants of shipwrecks as they graze on reclaimed meadow.
The most famous legend about dikes was the legend of the brave Hansje Brinker. It was actually a
literary invention by the American writer Mary Elizabeth Mapes Dodge and goes like this: On an
autumn afternoon eight year old Hansje set off to visit a friend who lived out in the country on the
other side of the dike. Walking along the canal on his way home, Hansje heard the sound of trickling
water. He looked up and saw a small hole in the dike and watched a tiny stream of water flowing out
of it. Quickly Hansje inserted his chubby finger in the hole and the flow of water stopped. All night he
plugged the hole in the dike, numb with cold and fear. At daybreak, a clergyman walked along the top
of the dike and saw Hansje. He quickly summoned help. So did Hansje prevent a disastrous flood
(Brouwer). The dikes were very useful in World War Two. Most of the time the dikes were not strong
enough for the heavy tanks of the Germans. On October 3, 1944, the RAF (royal air force) bombed the
dikes on Walcheren Island, isolating the German units there by flooding them (Goddard). This would
eliminate their ability to move around the island

Dog Socialization Essay
As seen in figure 1, it shows there is a balance of socialization occurring at the time of the picture
being taken and indicates play behaviour and nothing negative happening. Moreover, canid
specializations have permitted the development of a pair bond and male provisioning of young
(Kleiman and Eisenberg, 1973). This is based on the fact that long term affiliations between a pair and
matured offspring create an effective group structure between the dogs (Kleiman and Eisenberg,
1973). In addition to this, in terms of socialization overall when a social group is composed of several
members, some form of hierarchy is needed to maintain order within the group (Cuteness, 2017).

Benefits Of A Tariff On Goods And Services That Are Imported
A Tariff in general is a comprehensive tax on goods and services that are imported. The main aim of a
tariff is to create security to the domestic product of a nation from the imported goods which are
cheaper and have a huge production capacity. Furthermore tariffs also aid in balancing the prices in a
country. This paper describes the roles tariffs play in a country and also pros and cons of tariffs.
There exist many different forms tariffs in which each is has its own specific operation. Some of the
most notable tariffs include the revenue tariff, prohibitive tariff and protective tariff.
The Revenue Tariff
This tariff is meant to create and accumulate huge amount of government finances. For example a
country that has little product. For it to keep the domestic income strong the government has to install
tariff on the goods which have been imported hence levying the prices. The government thus creates a
security cover for the product of certain import goods that are limited.
Prohibitive tariff
This tariff is normally used to diminish competition between the foreign and domestic producers.
Furthermore it is used to cease foreign imports present in its track. It works in a way similar to an
embargo placed on a specific given country.
Protective tariff
This type of tariff tends to inflate the prices that imported products have set thus creating a positive
price vacuum for locally based industries. Protective tariff highly taxes foreign imports hence forcing

Result Analysis Of Aspirin
Introduction
Aspirin is a widely name used to refer to a chemical compound known as acetylsalicylic acid. It is
commonly used as a pain killer. Salicylic acid is extracted from the bark of willow plant. In the past,
the bark willow plant was used as the remedies for tonics and headache. Currently, salicylic acid is
administered to patients in aspirin form which is less irritating to the stomach as compared to salicylic
acid. Aspirin is synthesised by reacting excess acetic anhydride with the salicylic acid. During its
synthesis a small quantity of a strong acid is used as a catalyst. Strong phosphoric acid was used as a
catalyst in this experiment. The excess acetic acid was quenched by addition of water. Beer s law

People With Mental Illnesses
Throughout history people with mental illnesses were considered to be weird, strange, a witch, or even
possessed up until now. So many people have fought for the rights of these people to be considered
normal and welcomed. Still, many other people around the world do not agree with this. It s not fair
for the people who are considered different to be left out and almost completely thrown to the curb
with little to no sympathy. Many of them try to commit suicide to get rid of all the pain and suffering,
but others help them get back up and help them realize that their life is not worth throwing away. Even
though some of these issues have been resolved, people need to be more aware about some of these
mental illnesses and the research scientists are doing to help them. ... Show more content on

This might be because people are not aware of what is really going on with the people around them.
So many illegal incidents have happened throughout the United States because these criminals had
untreated mental illnesses. The article, Mental Illness Awareness and Research states, The infamous
2012 theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado; the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School attack in
Newtown, Connecticut; and the 2015 gun attack at a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana, (Michael
Auerbach). It is sad to find out that a lot of these incidents are due to the lack of care for people.
Another article, Funding for Research, Not Public Awareness Campaigns, Will Do More for the
Support and Treatment of Mental Illness states, According to the National Institute of Mental Health,
it is likely that tens of millions of Americans each year experience mental illness but only half of those
people seek treatment. This is the reason why people need to be aware of the people around them.
Many of them go through the pain everyday and they don t speak up and then one day they just decide

A Literature Review of the Popular Opinion on Abortion
Literature Review Popular Opinion on Abortion
Abortion has long been a source of acrimonious and controversial debate. It touches upon key ethical,
moral, philosophical, biological, and legal issues. Opinions about abortion tend to be rooted in
fundamental personal values which are unlikely to change. Many people, especially Christians, regard
abortion as murder. Such people oppose abortion in varying degrees, calling their position Pro Life.
Others regard abortion as an excruciating yet critical decision that woman should be allowed to make.
The debate over abortion has been a persistent source of political and cultural division in this country.
Most Americans have an opinion on abortion and believe the issue is important to them. Also,
opinions on abortion, in a very general sense, are believed to have stayed relatively stable since the
Roe v. Wade decision.
Political Party Affiliation
Jelen and Wilcox (2003) find that abortion attitudes are increasingly strong predictors of vote choice at
a variety of levels of government. (494). Research has been virtually unanimous in tracing this trend
to the influence of political elites on mass public opinion.
Wilcox and Norrander trace this trend to the Supreme Court s decision in Webster, which granted state
governments increased discretion in their ability to regulate the delivery of abortion services (Wilcox
and Norrander, 2002, 383). The public became increasingly supportive of legalized abortion with

Electronic Health Record Essay
After decades of paper based medical records, a new type of record keeping has surfaced the
Electronic Health Record (EHR). EHR is an electronic or digital format concept of an individual s past
and present medical history. It is the principle storage place for data and information about the health
care services provided to an individual patient. It is maintained by a provider over time and capable of
being shared across different healthcare settings by network connected information systems. Such
records may include key administrative and clinical data relevant to that persons care under a
particular provider. Examples of such records may include: demographics, physician notes, problems
or injuries, medications and allergies, vital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But with the benefits there are also the risk factors. Some disadvantages of the EHR system would
include; initial cost of planning and implementing an EHR system, lack of standardization across the
healthcare setting, unauthorized access to patient information (security and privacy), inaccurate patient
information if not updated properly, technical downtimes, potential negligence for data loss and
possible patient access to conditions that they don t comprehend which may panic them. Although the
EHR is still in a transitional state, this major shift that electronic medical records are taking is bringing
many concerns to the table. Two concerns at the top of the list are privacy and standardization issues.
In 1996, U.S. Congress enacted a non for profit organization called Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA). This law establishes national standards for privacy and security of health
information. HIPAA deals with information standards, data integrity, confidentiality, accessing and
handling your medical information. They also were designed to guarantee transferred information be
protected from one facility to the next (Meridan, 2007). But even with the HIPAA privacy rules, they
too have their shortcomings. HIPAA can t fully safeguard the limitations of who s accessible to your
information. A short stay at your local

Analysis of the Arab Spring Essay
In late 2010, a Tunisian named Bouazizi set himself on fire in protest against the poor economic
situation in which he was living (CNN, 2011). Other Tunisians soon took the opportunity to resist their
government and possible overthrow the leadership of Ben Ali. They took it as their responsibility to
fight for the common good. Simple demonstration against the Tunisian government soon went ahead
to an extent that Ben Ali had to leave the country. The events that followed the departures of the
Tunisian president were the least expected. The revolts in Tunisia spurred citizens of other Arab

Change in actions and behaviors are deeply associated with the changes in the stages of life. Butterfly
is such an insect, which has a complete lifecycle consisting of four separate stages. In this paper, we

The head, thorax, legs, swollen abdomen, and wings come out of the shell one by one. A butterfly rests
for a while in order to let its structures become dry and hard. Once the structures of a newly emerged
butterfly become hard, it becomes ready to fly. A butterfly usually lives for two to three weeks.
However, there exist some types of butterfly, which can live for months. Conclusion Summing it up,
all living things go through different stages of development, which represent their lifecycles. A
butterfly has four stages of life, which include egg stage, caterpillar stage, pupa stage, and the adult
butterfly stage. A butterfly shows different nature and habits in each stage of life. An adult butterfly
represents the last stage of a butterfly s lifecycle in which a butterfly becomes ready to fly. References

Kashmir As A Forgotten Casualty Of The World
Since the day of the British Partition from India, there has been one absolving issue that has been
ignored by much of the world. Surrounded on three sides, by three nuclear powers, the region of
Kashmir has become a forgotten casualty of the aftermath. The region has since crafted a history of
violent struggle for sovereignty and freedom. Kashmir has become symbolic of the nearly century
long Indo paki struggle that has left inhabitants of the region in turmoil. The bloody history of the
region, and the way the issue has been handled brings up the question of what is the best way to
handle the situation? The region of Kashmir has been claimed by both India and Pakistan, while a
large percentage of the population want independence, all three parties have been at a near century
long struggle, that can only be solved when the originally proposed solution of a plebiscite is put into
place. In order to understand the current situation in Kashmir, it is necessary to understand the history
of the region. The British sold Kashmir to Maharajah Ghulab Singh in 1846. Subsequently, Maharajah
Ghulab Singh established himself as the independent princely ruler of Kashmir. This was done
through the famous treaty of Amritsar. After Ghulab Singh s death, his kingdom passed on to his
successors and was ultimately ruled by Maharajah Hari Singh until 1949. These rulers were known to
be tyrannical and oppressive. In 1931, there was even a revolt and general unrest amongst the majority

The Culture Of The Mexican Culture
How many different types of cultures are there? Here s the answer there are many cultures. My story
starts like this; both of my parents are from Guadalajara well most of my family is from that part of
México. Being part of the Mexican culture is very different from other cultures, but every culture is
unique of its own way. Many Mexican people have preserved and still do many of their ancestors
traditions. Tradition plays a big role in my family for example: the food we eat, the music we listen to,
what we dance to and what we celebrate to. I wanted a sweet sixteen but of course being Mexican my
parents said no. Being in the Mexican culture tradition is that when you turn 15 you re supposed to
have a Quinceanera it symbolizes that you are no longer a kid but you are now a young women. Many
people think a Quinceanera is just a party but the real tradition is to have a church mass. Since I am
catholic that consists of me going to church and thanking God. Social behaviors impact your life in
many ways. You have roles and rules in your cultures. When you re with your friends you act a
different way. When it has to do with family or church groups you have a role and rules and your
behavior is different. Women and Males have different rules and roles. Mother is supposed to stay
home and Father is supposed to work to help his family. Women are not supposed to do yard work
their job is inside. That has changed with the year s most

The Corruption Of The Puritans In New England In 1639
Deciding that religious freedom is worth the risks, the puritans crossed the sea. Puritans were

They believed the church of was corrupt. They didn t break from the church but sought to reform it, so
they set out for the New World in the 1630. When they arrived in the New England area they decided
to start a new colony. The puritans were very strict and didn t tolerate other religions.

famous sermon was on May 31, 1638 on Principles of Government. This influenced the fundamentals

The Role Of Racism And Discrimination In The United States
As an individual with unique life experiences, It s easy to dismiss the societally constructed struggles
of other individuals. The popular phrase for this phenomena is Out of sight=Out of mind . It s
understandable to not immediately accept the struggles of others when they are struggles in which you
have never experienced before. Those sins can be forgiven. However, what is not forgivable is the
refusal to educate oneself to better understand those struggles and fundamentally accept that other
individuals are negatively affected by these unfamiliar experiences. Specifically, the black community
within the United States, who receive a very different experience than the white community. Racism
and discrimination are still a very large part ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The political and economic consequences of racial discrimination have most certainly had an
imbalanced benefit for white communities. However, these benefits are accepted as the standard for
which these communities should be and have been in a sense of status quo. This refusal to accept the
societal discrimination had often been referred to as color blindness. Color blindness can be defined as
the refusal to acknowledge the struggle of non white s by using the success of a few no white
individuals as an example of a fading social racism. A example of this which is often used, is the
election of President Barack Obama (López, 2004). Through the national election of a categorized
black president, many have felt that this is an example of a race free society. This community who
believe this are often uneducated to contemporary societal structure of our country, or have personal

American cultures, but to communicate this acceptance of diversity to the next generation. It is okay

Reconstruction By Eric Foner Analysis
Within the preface of Eric Foner s A Short History of Reconstruction, Foner details the distinct
characteristics of the ever changing era of Reconstruction, taking place after the Civil War. The always
changing definitions of history have transformed the process of understanding this time period (Foner,
xi). Because of this, the Preface, written by Foner in 1990, illustrates the drastically different
viewpoints of the schools of thought found during the Reconstruction period. The Preface is divided
into four different sections; each section giving the reader a better understanding of the different
interpretations. These four sections are: The Dunning School during the 1900 s, the Progressive
School in the 1920 s and 1930 s, the Revisionists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the wave of new politics and social attitudes, the Revisionists crippled all standing interpretations,
leading to a drastically different account of the Reconstruction. Depicting the Reconstruction as a time
for incredible social and political growth for African Americans, Revisionists strayed from the original
negative connotations of Reconstruction. Within the new revised Reconstruction, Johnson was no
longer the courageous protector of the civil liberties of his people, but rather a racist who failed to
react to the predicaments at hand while in Presidency and Radicals were no longer money hungry
capitalists of the North, but rather individuals dedicated to advocacy for African Americans (Foner,

effective, there were still a group of individuals, Post Revisionists, who continued to view the changes

Compare And Contrast Odysseus And Harry Potter
Escaping from a man eating cyclops is no easy task, and neither is fighting the Dark Lord himself.
Odysseus is a very intelligent and motivated man who is the King of Ithaca. He fights in the Trojan
war but gets stuck sailing on the sea searching for his way home. Harry Potter is also a very intelligent
boy. At a very young age his parents were killed by Lord Voldemort. Voldemort attempted to kill
Harry too, but failed, making Harry the boy who lived. On Harry s 11th birthday, he received many
letters inviting him to attend Hogwarts, a School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A man named Hagrid
comes to take him and that is where Harry s journey begins. They are pretty similar, but in some ways
they differ. Some similarities are that they use their wits and strengths to get their way through
problems, and they both have a desire to see their family. But they also differ in the way that their
goals are completely different, Odysseus wants to get home to Ithaca, and Harry wants to stay as far
away from his home, with the Dursleys as possible. So they use their brain as a problem solver, they
have a longing for their family, but they both want to go in a different direction.
First off, Odysseus and Harry both use their wits. In the story of Odysseus, he is stuck sailing on the
sea. He comes face to face with many dangerous and terrifying obstacles, and during every obstacle he
has to survive whilst using his knowledge. One big part of the story is when Odysseus and his men get

Abstract
In this paper I will explore the subject media and the effect on today s society. The research
information was gathered from two websites. The role the media plays in delivering the media to the
public is an important fact covered in this essay. The significance of news media on culture and
society is huge and changing from day to day. The social responsibility the news media has regarding

The media is to entertain, but more important to inform and to avoid conflicts of interest. News
markets would love to earn the respect of their viewers. Providing the truth and the most breaking
news this improves their ratings. Once the news media violates that trust people will find another form
to get their news. The media has a huge influence on the public opinion. The media and their owners
need to be held to high levels of accountability. They should stay in compliance with the laws, codes,
and regulations. The legal and ethical issues for the online community are the same as if it were not
online. Oftentimes it is easy to violate these online than if gathering information from the textbook or
encyclopedia. It can very easy to post a picture and if this picture has a copyright then it would be a
violation of copyright infringement laws. Sometimes it is easy to miss this and we often use material
found on the Internet without permission. There can be legal ramifications from this action.
Technology is a part of our everyday lives and our world. The way the news and information is

offers areas of study in regard to this science. Some advantages of the modern delivery is the
convenience of reaching many people at one time. This is helpful for many reasons a few include

with a comprehensive determination, and then avoid the usual judgements such as a person that is
really terrifying, psychotic, killer or just plain rare person.
As read and saw the film of A Beautiful Mind, John Nash is perceived as a scary guy. From the scene
where he leaves his child in the tub because he thinks that his friend Charles is looking over the child
while he is doing something else, where he almost hurts his wife while he listens to the voice that tells
him to finish her, the film pictures Nash as a man who can be dangerous when he is faced with an
episode. Putting aside my own thoughts, I have to add that this story has great strengths, thanks to
the great performances of Russell Crowe as John Nash, and Jennifer Connelly that plays his wife
Alicia.
Crowe gives a impeccable and beautiful performance, and almost makes it perfect. In his character of
John Nash they showed many sides of him: the painfully disagreeable child at Princeton, the sarcastic
humorist, the rightfully arrogant mathematician, the anxious and pitiful receiver of the full invasion of
psychotically hallucinations, and these characterizations are basically working. But the young Nash,
despite being an outstanding unconventional genius on his first postgraduate research, he is not that

The Power Of Perceptions In The Kitie Runner And The Kite...
Discoveries can be significant in ways that may be emotional, intellectual, or spiritual, leading to new
values and ideas. They can also offer new understandings and perceptions of the self and of others,
being inherently transformative. This is evident in the texts, The Tempest by William Shakespeare, the
film The Kite Runner by Marc Forster, and the memoir Chinese Dancing Bendigo Style by Joo Inn
Chew, each text revealing emotional and spiritual awakenings resultant of the discovery process.
In The Tempest , Shakespeare explores the power of experience and reflection to challenge one s
perceptions and invoke emotional and spiritual discoveries within the metaphorical transgressive free
space of the island. He is therefore able to explore the disjunction between art and reality, as Prospero
s eventual realisation of his art s limitations and the fragility of human reality stems from the confines
of his imagination. This imaginative world is what Prospero uses to guide the King and courtiers along
a symbolic journey to understanding their guilt, utilising a metaphorical maze to do so. Prospero s
vision culminates with the visualisation of the masque, as Prospero realises the necessity of re
integrating his imagination with the reality of his existence. Prospero s speech reflects a shift in
register, forcing the play onto a philosophical plane, symbolising his emotional discovery through the
shift from external representation to his reflective acknowledgement of his

The Dictionary States That Fracking Is A Method Used For
The dictionary states that fracking is a method used for getting oil and gas from underground rocks by
injecting liquid into the rocks so that they can break apart (Merriam Webster). Fracking can be a
controversial topic in numerous people s eyes due to the side effects that coincide with this procedure.
Fracking has evolved over the years and made a comeback around 2010. Lately, the United States has
heard tremendous news regarding this procedure and the drawbacks from fracking natural gases and
oil. Fracking can be beneficial; sadly, the side effects greatly outweigh the benefits. The environmental
risks, pollution, and the overall risk factors prove to not worth the risk of fracking. Fracking is a ...

The environmental risks that accompany fracking are potentially hazardous. In order to frack,
thousands of acres of forests need destroyed to allow roadways the space they need to exist (Lampe
38). However, these roadways allow erosion to occur due to the lack of vegetation (Lampe 38). Along
with erosion, siltation occurs and sand, soil, and mud sink to the bottom of rivers, and ponds (Lampe
38). Therefore, the animals living in these habitats may migrate, or simply just die. Trees situated on
the acres of land for hundreds of years would have to be chopped down to make way for roadways. In
some cases, depending on where the oil reservoir is located, the state declares eminent domain on
houses and pays the landowners. Consequently, the houses will be destroyed and the oil reservoirs will
be fracked.
The greatest common concern on the subject today is water contamination. Individuals grew worried
that the chemicals used to gather these natural resources will seep into the water and contaminate the
United States. The water necessary to frack is gathered from rivers, lakes, ponds, and even aquifers.
This is then combined with chemicals and pumped into the ground. Fracking was exempted from the
Federal Safe Drinking Water Act and the chemicals used to frack are not tested frequently in our water
(Lampe 34). Bordering on 20 to 40 percent of the water used to frack rises back up to the surface and
is stored on site (Lampe 34). An

Stewart David Nozette Research Paper
Introduction On September 7, 2011, a guilty plea to one count of attempted espionage by one of the
most noted space scientists in America shook the nation to its core. On that day, Stewart David
Nozette, a respected U.S. scientist who had worked on the Star Wars missile shield effort and helped
discover water on the moon became a disgraced criminal. Nozette was arrested in October of 2009 for
attempting to provide classified information to a person he believed to be an Israeli Mossad agent
(Fitzpatrick 2009). His guilty plea brought closure to a case that required the cooperation of a
significant number of U.S. agencies and departments and serves as a prime example of what happens
when a person decides to sell our nation s most valuable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nozette is no different as his resume is full of high level jobs and astounding educational successes.
Nozette received a Ph.D. in Planetary Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in
1983 which served as his launching pad to work in various capacities on behalf of the U.S.
government in the development of state of the art programs in defense and space (Office of Public
Affairs 2011). In 1989, Stewart Nozette began holding sensitive and high profile positions within the
U.S. government, which included working at the White House on the National Space Council,
Executive Office of the President (Washington Field Office 2012). He also gained notoriety with his
work as a physicist for the U.S. Department of Energy s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory,
where he designed highly advanced technology (Washington Field Office 2012). According to a
factual proffer that was submitted in support of his guilty plea, from 1989 through 2006, Nozette held
security clearances as high as TOP SECRET and had regular, frequent access to classified information
and documents related to the national defense of the United States (Office of Public Affairs 2011).
Throughout all of his work during this time period, Nozette never gave the impression that he could be
a traitor to the United States. Craig Covault, editor at large for SpaceFlightNow.com, who interviewed
Nozette multiple times while covering the aerospace industry stated, To my knowledge, he was a
dedicated scientist whose manner would give you no clue he was a spy. He was a very solid

Snow Piercer Analysis
Snow Piercer was directed by Bong Joon ho in 2013, which is based on the French novel Le
Transperceneige. At first glance, most people will not understand the many themes that this particular
film has. After carefully examining the film the viewers may find the hidden themes in the film that
will be explained in this analysis. Themes that will discuss are humanity, revolt, and master of your
fate. There are many sub themes within the film but this particular analysis, it is the crucial focus on
these themes because it helps develop the central plot and conflict with in the film. The first theme
that will discuss is humanity. The whole plot of the movie focuses on preserving humanity or what s
left of it. After global warming had destroyed the earth and making unsuitable for any living creature
to survive the Conductor train made that makes an around trip cross the earth to try to preserve
humanity. Even though he was ridiculed about his theories and his plan to save humanity he still went
ahead with plans and end up saving what was left of humanity. Throughout the movie, many of the

Literary Devices In Those Winter Sundays
Relationships between children and their parents can be complex. Often, once the child grows up, they
begin to have a greater understanding and are able to reflect on those relationships. In the poem, Those
Winter Sundays, Robert Hayden writes of a son looking back on his relationship with his father and it
s complexity. Their intricate relationship comes from the son feeling guilt about how unaware he was
of everything his father did and how blinded he was by his childish judgments. Using details to look
back on childhood, sound devices to show a masked feeling and repetition of the word cold to
elaborate on the emotional distance the father shows, the speaker portrays his seemingly strict, yet
caring father and an unknowing and indifferent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This begins with the first cold (Hayden 2) depicting a father constantly trying to do what s right for his
family and having to deal with a son who s unappreciative and constantly giving him the cold shoulder
because he can only see what shows up before him, unable to see past the wall of ice. In the second
stanza the word cold is compiled with onomatopoeia so the reader can almost hear the sound of
coldness, hear the cold splintering, breaking (Hayden 6). This signifies the son chipping away at the
ice before him and seeing past his father s rough exterior to every small sacrifice he has done for his
family. To end everything the use of the word cold (Hayden 11) symbolizes him breaking through and
driving out every piece of hostile ice blocking the view of his true father. Once removed, he saw a
man who worked hard every single day did everything he knew how to for his family and his son.
Reflecting, he asks What did I know, what did I know / of love s austere and lonely offices (Hayden
14)? Love was a part of everything his father did and worked for. As a child, he only saw the side of
his father that struggled to show his love through typical words and expressions leaving him heavy
with guilt. He is now unable to thank his father for everything because what did he know of the love
of a father to his

Hence to improve the process within the company lean techniques are used so that the total impact will not be high when it is applied to a broader supply chain. Figure 1. Separation Anxiety in Children Many parents are all too familiar with the cries of their child that seem to be impossible to calm and the child that clings to their leg when they are about to leave. The terrible twos are not the only dreaded stage of child development; this is what is commonly known as separation anxiety. Separation anxiety is a developmental stage during which the child experiences anxiety when separated from the primary care giver (McPherson, 2004). • 6. Occupational Therapy Is A Way Of Changing Lives Essay Occupational therapy is a way of changing lives by means of improving skills used in daily activities and therefore increasing quality of life. Occupational therapy enhances everyday experiences for a diverse group of individuals ranging from infants to the elderly, including those with cognitive, developmental, mental, and physical disabilities. I am excited to pursue a career in occupational therapy because I realized at a young age that occupational therapists understood my younger sister with Down syndrome in the same way that I did. They saw her first as a person with many strengths and abilities that they worked to build upon. OTs acknowledged her ideas and how she enjoyed playing, which they used as a basis for creating meaningful therapeutic activities. I observed OTs adapt the environment within my home to fit the wants and needs of my sister while understanding and developing her as a whole person throughout each therapy session. OTs tremendously impacted my sister s life by helping her with activities of daily living from infancy to young adulthood, such as learning to swallow, gripping a spoon, or figuring out modification strategies for getting dressed. For these reasons along with the foundation of a holistic approach to therapy, occupational therapists tend to be my favorite healthcare professionals involved in my sister s care. The short story Sweetheart of The Song Tra Bong, in Things They Carried, by Tim O Brien represents this by showing change in Mary Anne, who is a character the reader probably would not expect to see in a book about the Vietnam War. There are many parts show the change in her from the average high school girl she used to be into a predatory killer, but there is only one reason for her change, and that is the war itself. The changes Mary Anne goes through in this story stand out very clear. In the beginning, the quote that introduces Mary Anne is, ...she was seventeen years old, fresh out of Cleveland Heights Senior High. She had long white legs ... Mary Anne is inevitably drawn to the other side the other side in this case being the Vietnam War itself. She is not completely part of it yet but she sure is fascinated by it, and will be part of it soon. She displays the danger of throwing away all separation between herself and the war. She is at the point where she wants to become one with the war. However towards the end of the story, Mary Ann becomes a completely different person. This can be shown perfectly in the quote, She had crossed to the other side. She was part of the land. She was wearing her culottes, her pink sweater, and a necklace of human tongues. She was dangerous. She was ready for the kill (O Brien 116). Going back to the Vietnam War and its effect on Mary Anne. At this point, it can be seen that Mary Anne has completely crossed over. She has a necklace of human tongues, which is crazy weird. However, Mary Anne is still wearing her culottes and her pink sweater, the very pieces of clothing that made her appear so American at the beginning of the story. The reason for Mary Anne s change is not because of the Vietnamese or even Vietnam, even though it appeared to be at the beginning. It s the war itself. The war is half Vietnamese and half American. Knowing the bulbs paid for themselves, the tradeoff was worth it. They used 75% less electricity than incandescent bulbs, lasted 10 times longer and emitted 450 pounds fewer greenhouse gasses. In previous years consumers relied on incandescent lights that were reliable and much less expensive than CFLs. CFLs were backed by utility companies that also wanted the product to be a success, which was obvious through their coupons, trade ins and price promotions. Aside from the many benefits CFLs offered to consumers, market research showed there were misconceptions that caused hesitancy in consumer adoption. The original product had problems such as light flickering and buzzing, needed continual usage to result in energy savings, could not be used with a dimmer, and recycling the bulbs was not convenient as special measures were needed to dispose of the bulb. By 2009, manufactures had redesigned the bulbs and made significant changes to address the concerns of customers. Disposal was made easier as mercury levels reduced, the lights could be dimmed, more sizes and colors were available. The price of the bulb decreased from $25 each to around $3 each. Eventually CFL s became more popular with consumers and household penetration grew to around 50%. Though household penetration was high, only 26% of households accounted for 76% of all CFL ... The most famous legend about dikes was the legend of the brave Hansje Brinker. It was actually a literary invention by the American writer Mary Elizabeth Mapes Dodge and goes like this: On an autumn afternoon eight year old Hansje set off to visit a friend who lived out in the country on the other side of the dike. Walking along the canal on his way home, Hansje heard the sound of trickling water. He looked up and saw a small hole in the dike and watched a tiny stream of water flowing out of it. Quickly Hansje inserted his chubby finger in the hole and the flow of water stopped. All night he plugged the hole in the dike, numb with cold and fear. At daybreak, a clergyman walked along the top of the dike and saw Hansje. He quickly summoned help. So did Hansje prevent a disastrous flood (Brouwer). The dikes were very useful in World War Two. Most of the time the dikes were not strong enough for the heavy tanks of the Germans. On October 3, 1944, the RAF (royal air force) bombed the dikes on Walcheren Island, isolating the German units there by flooding them (Goddard). The main aim of a tariff is to create security to the domestic product of a nation from the imported goods which are cheaper and have a huge production capacity. Furthermore tariffs also aid in balancing the prices in a country. This paper describes the roles tariffs play in a country and also pros and cons of tariffs. There exist many different forms tariffs in which each is has its own specific operation. Some of the most notable tariffs include the revenue tariff, prohibitive tariff and protective tariff. The Revenue Tariff This tariff is meant to create and accumulate huge amount of government finances. For example a country that has little product. For it to keep the domestic income strong the government has to install tariff on the goods which have been imported hence levying the prices. The government thus creates a security cover for the product of certain import goods that are limited. Prohibitive tariff This tariff is normally used to diminish competition between the foreign and domestic producers. Furthermore it is used to cease foreign imports present in its track. It touches upon key ethical, moral, philosophical, biological, and legal issues. Opinions about abortion tend to be rooted in fundamental personal values which are unlikely to change. Many people, especially Christians, regard abortion as murder. Although the EHR is still in a transitional state, this major shift that electronic medical records are taking is bringing many concerns to the table. Two concerns at the top of the list are privacy and standardization issues. In 1996, U.S. Congress enacted a non for profit organization called Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). From the scene where he leaves his child in the tub because he thinks that his friend Charles is looking over the child while he is doing something else, where he almost hurts his wife while he listens to the voice that tells him to finish her, the film pictures Nash as a man who can be dangerous when he is faced with an episode. Putting aside my own thoughts, I have to add that this story has great strengths, thanks to the great performances of Russell Crowe as John Nash, and Jennifer Connelly that plays his wife Alicia. They can also offer new understandings and perceptions of the self and of others, being inherently transformative. This is evident in the texts, The Tempest by William Shakespeare, the film The Kite Runner by Marc Forster, and the memoir Chinese Dancing Bendigo Style by Joo Inn Chew, each text revealing emotional and spiritual awakenings resultant of the discovery process. In The Tempest , Shakespeare explores the power of experience and reflection to challenge one s perceptions and invoke emotional and spiritual discoveries within the metaphorical transgressive free space of the island. He is therefore able to explore the disjunction between art and reality, as Prospero s eventual realisation of his art s limitations and the fragility of human reality stems from the confines of his imagination. This imaginative world is what Prospero uses to guide the King and courtiers along a symbolic journey to understanding their guilt, utilising a metaphorical maze to do so. Prospero s vision culminates with the visualisation of the masque, as Prospero realises the necessity of re integrating his imagination with the reality of his existence. In order to frack, thousands of acres of forests need destroyed to allow roadways the space they need to exist (Lampe 38). However, these roadways allow erosion to occur due to the lack of vegetation (Lampe 38). Along with erosion, siltation occurs and sand, soil, and mud sink to the bottom of rivers, and ponds (Lampe 38). Therefore, the animals living in these habitats may migrate, or simply just die. Trees situated on the acres of land for hundreds of years would have to be chopped down to make way for roadways. In some cases, depending on where the oil reservoir is located, the state declares eminent domain on houses and pays the landowners. Consequently, the houses will be destroyed and the oil reservoirs will be fracked. The greatest common concern on the subject today is water contamination. Individuals grew worried that the chemicals used to gather these natural resources will seep into the water and contaminate the United States. The water necessary to frack is gathered from rivers, lakes, ponds, and even aquifers. This is then combined with chemicals and pumped into the ground. Fracking was exempted from the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act and the chemicals used to frack are not tested frequently in our water (Lampe 34). • 50. Literary Devices In Those Winter Sundays Relationships between children and their parents can be complex. Often, once the child grows up, they begin to have a greater understanding and are able to reflect on those relationships. In the poem, Those Winter Sundays, Robert Hayden writes of a son looking back on his relationship with his father and it s complexity. Their intricate relationship comes from the son feeling guilt about how unaware he was of everything his father did and how blinded he was by his childish judgments. Using details to look back on childhood, sound devices to show a masked feeling and repetition of the word cold to elaborate on the emotional distance the father shows, the speaker portrays his seemingly strict, yet caring father and an unknowing and indifferent ... Reflecting, he asks What did I know, what did I know / of love s austere and lonely offices (Hayden 14)? Love was a part of everything his father did and worked for. As a child, he only saw the side of his father that struggled to show his love through typical words and expressions leaving him heavy with guilt. He is now unable to thank his father for everything because what did he know of the love of a father to his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
