How Does The Painters Job Score On The Core Job...
1.How does the painters job score on the core job characteristics before and after the changes
were made? How can the positive impact of the job redesign be explained? Job core
characteristics fall into five categories, which, are as follows: skill variety, task identity task
significance, autonomy, and job feedback. Skill variety is how many different activities a job
has. I would say before and after the changes skill variety was low. Task identity is to the degree
a job is completed. Basically it is how far along a person takes a job from the beginning to the
end of a process. For the painter s task identity, I would say it was moderate before and after the
changes. Task significance is how important the job is to the company or society in general. For
the painters I would say the before and after the changes task significance was moderate.
Autonomy is the amount of freedom and independence an employee has over a particular job.
Before the changes the painter had very low autonomy, nut after the changes I would say it was
high. Last is job feedback, which is how much information the employee receives on how well
they did their job. I would say job feedback was pretty high before and after the changes were
made. The positive impact of job redesign can be seen in autonomy redesign. Before the changes
the room was too hot and the hook speed was too fast. However, after the company let the
employees place fans where they want and control the hook speed the autonomy score

Comparing The Five Pillars Of Islam
The core practices of the Islamic faith, the Five Pillars of Islam, correlate in many ways with
Christian practices, but also lend to adaptation requirements for many Muslims living in the United
States. These pillars are faith, prayer, giving of alms, fasting, and a pilgrimage to Mecca. Each of
these pillars are built around strengthening a person s journey through religious Islamic life. As
much tension as there is at times between Christians and Muslims, many of the fundamental
religious practices are quite similar. One of the similarities between Christians and Muslims is the
practice of faith. Both developed creeds summarizing theological beliefs in God, forming the central
foundation of religious life. Building on this foundation, is a lifestyle of prayer central in
communicating with God. Though the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example is the Muslim prayer life. Prayer times may conflict with work times, and there
may not always be an appropriate place to pray in the workplace. Employers may not always
want to make the slight accommodation necessary to allow time for prayers (Corbett Hemeyer,
p. 208). The five required prayer times do not always fit in with work break schedules, and many
Muslims must adapt the time of day that they pray. However, some employers do accommodate
these religious practices. While working on a remodel project, I saw how one well known
business in Columbus, OH has done a few things to allow Muslims to practice prayer time. First,
when remolding restrooms that are used by many Islam followers, the company installed foot
washing stations after they learned many employees would try to use the sinks or toilets to wash
for prayer. Second, in remolding the break room associated with the restroom remodel, a privacy
section was added with several rugs to allow space for private

ADPIE stands for assessment, diagnosis, patient plan, implementation and evaluation of the
implementations. It was a very structured approach that has to be completed in the SBAR or
ADPIE format. It had to be done in order and each area had to be completed. There was no
creative approach allowed. Spiritualty was never part of any aspect of the process. There were
times when as a student, I did the SBAR or ADPIE format and I would be marked down for
adding information that was not on the checklist or if I left out a portion of a particular section.
For example, if the patient did not have chest tubes and I did not state the patient had no tubes, I
was marked down. If I added the patients spiritual needs in the format it would be crossed out
because it did not fit the checklist. The nursing approach that was used in our program was based
on theory we learned in lecture. We wrote care plans that included an assessment, structural
variables, nursing diagnosis, goals, nursing interventions and evaluations. We were marked down if
the interventions didn t match the nursing diagnosis or if there was insufficient assessments made
to come up with a nursing diagnosis or goal. There was no delegation or leadership involved with
our approach. It was structured and specific with little ability to vary from a nursing care approach
that was taught. According to the (Nursing Fact Sheet, 2011) the additional classes in the

My Most Important Day Essay
Honestly if I were to think of my most important day, not even one would come to mind, because
when your put on the spot to think of one it s hard. Although, there is one day that out of all is
clear as daylight in my head, down to every second. I think this is due to the day being different
than all the other days. In my life, I experienced something I thought I never would. My most
important day of my life is when I finally met my older cousinAkash, while we were on our
vacation on the cruise.
I always knew my cousin Akash, but we had never truly spoke nor bonded. He d always do his own
thing, and I guess you could say I looked up to him due to the type of person he was. I d really only
see him at family parties due to us not being first cousins, but suddenly he stopped coming to
them. It didn t matter if it was a family get together, birthday, Christmas, or anything else, he
would never show up. This made it impossible for me to ever see him. However, then I found out
that he d be coming with us on the cruise. To be honest, at first I didn t care much because I thought
he wouldn t associate with me much, but I was entirely wrong.
It was the third day on the cruise and my cousin had been previously with the uncles the first two
days. He knocked on my room door with me and my other cousin Dave inside. I answered, and
right away he asked the both of us Yo what do you guys want to do? At first I was shocked that he
was here, but instead of acting confused I decided to go

Marie Curie Essay
Marie Curie, or rather Marya Sklodowska, was born in Warsaw on
November 7, 1867. At the time, the Polish capital was occupied by the
Russians, who were seeking to weaken the local elite . Based on the value of experience and
scientific reality, and applied to society, it was for many intellectuals the path of progress, it was
to leave an indelible mark on Marya. Born into a family of teachers and brought up in an
environment marked by a sense of duty and a lack of money, she led the most remarkable life.
From the premature death of one of her sisters, and later of her mother, she drew the agnosticism
that would later increase her faith in science. As a brilliant and mature student with a rare gift of

Henri Becquerel, who was studying X rays, had recently observed that uranium salt left an
impression on a photographic plate in spite of its protective envelope. And so his frail wife set
about her work, handling tons of minerals she noted that another substance, thorium, was
quot;radioactive quot;, a term she herself had coined. Together, they demonstrated in a major
discovery that radioactivity was not the result of a chemical reaction but a property of the element
or, more specifically, of the atom. Marie then studied pitchblende, a uranic mineral in which she
measured a much more intense activity than is present in uranium alone. She found that there were
other substances besides uranium that were very radioactive, such as polonium and radium, which
she discovered in 1898.
Pierre tested radium on his skin. It caused a burn, and then a wound. Its effect on man was proven.
Soon radium was being used to treat malign tumors, Chemotherapy was born. In 1903, Marie
defended her discovery. Together with Becquerel, the Curies were awarded the
Nobel Prize for Physics for their discovery of natural radioactivity. Their happiness was short lived.
In 1906, Pierre, weakened by radiation and overworked, was run over by a car. Marie was forced to
continue alone.

accessories. Currently, the items are constructed of metal based parts for durable and consistent
performance. At the time of the initial process decision, the metal drawing process was also the
most economical. Management now suspects that the cost advantage enjoyed by metal parts is
highly dependent on the volume of parts produced. To confirm their suspicions, management would
like you to compare the break even volume for one of its products, the 3 hole punch, when
fabricated from metal versus plastic. What decision can be made based on the individual break
even points of each process?

make themselves a better person. Only a handful of people live a healthy lifestyle, not only here in
America, but in places all over the world. Today s generation and the one before, are not, and were
not taught how to cook at home, but rather have frozen store bought dinners, or eat out at fast food

Home cooked meals were the regular, and they knew where their foods came from, 30 years ago,
food was mostly fresh and local. (Oliver). My mom grew up on a ranch, her parents grew their
own fruits and raised their own meat. Everything was fresh, the food they ate came directly from
their yard. The great majority of the foods eaten today is processed, and are no longer fresh. This
is the problem. The healthy, organic foods are more expensive than the processed. People are
not willing to pay more, when there is something cheaper, that most likely appeals to their taste,

During the initial years of e commerce, many predicted that the internet would lead to a
frictionless economy with lower search costs and availability of better information over the
internet. Generally people feel that if a product is purchased online, they would be in a position
to take advantage of the fixed price displayed online which would in most cases be lower than the
retail prices in the customer s country. However, the headline price displayed is not always depict
the full cost of purchasing that product as the hidden costs are not mentioned. Hidden costs may be
shipping charges (postage and packing), tax liable on purchase.
Several efforts have been made to standardize the way prices are display and online shopping
websites have been very helpful in providing comprehensive details about the cost of products sold
online. Inspite of such efforts made, there are still some unresolved issues concerning the local
taxes which differ from country to country.
Ethnocentric pricing policy
According to this pricing policy the prices are set uniform across the world and the importer
absorbs fright and import duties. This is the simplest of all as no knowledge of the competitors
prices and market is required but the disadvantage of such pricing policy is pricing does not
respond to the market conditions of each national market thus it does not help to maximize the

SUV VS GUYS
As the years have gone on we have seen many changes in the differences and roles of gender.
Little have we thought of seeing cars taking a role of gender, in this case an SUV. SUVs have
taken the role of a male with a feminine touch. Dave Barry s Guys vs. Men is a funny, interesting
and in fact true effort at explaining who guys really are, and why they are that way.
Reptile Dreams focuses more on characteristics of an SUV that reflect the characteristics of men.
Both authors produced a strategically strong essay in reference to their point of view with their own
personal touch using a topic that they know most about.
Dave Barry, the author of Guys vs. Men projects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My theory is the reptilian always wins, he said, If there s a crash, I want the other guy to die. Of
course, I can t say that aloud. Hence, the rationale for owning an SUV, and willingness to put others
at risk rather than themselves in a crash situation. Again, questioning the rules of moral behavior.
For Rapaille, the archetype of a sport utility vehicle reflects the reptilian desire for survival. People
buy SUVs, he tells auto executives, because they are trying to look as menacing as possible to
allay their fears of crime and other violence. The Jeep has always had this image around the world
because of it its heavy use in war movies and frequent appearances in newsreels from the 1940 s
and 1950 s, and newer SUVs share the image.
Guy vs Men strategy for showing a certain guy characteristic, like wanting neat stuff such as
mechanical and unnecessarily complex For example the result of guys having the need to have
stuff such as star wars, nuclear weapons, and such items that are in the extends of that genre. as to
differentiate with the characteristics of a women, he used the example of a women and her living
room design arrangement. Whereas a women find the need to rearrange the original position of
their furniture and would cheerfully use the same computer for years, oppose to guys, they do not
have a basic need to rearrange furniture nor keep a computer that is outdated. Dave

Changing The Changing Of The Seasons
Changing of the Seasons Every season changes the look of the world differently. Some seasons
make the environment bloom while other seasons put the environment to rest for a period of time.
Seasons change from the blazing sun of summer, to the vivid colors of the fall, and then the
freezing snow of winter. Many people vary in which seasonthey relish the most, but I enjoy three
of the four seasons Mother Nature has to offer. I savor the time during the summer, fall, and winter
that I get to spend with family and friends. Nothing compares to the scorching heat of summer, the
chilling breeze of fall, or sub zero temperatures of the winter. I m a huge fan of the summer, fall,
and winter. Winter is the most wonderful time of the year. The white snow covers the ground like
white fluffy blanket. I stay indoors in the warm heat and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate with
family and friends. I look out the window into the bright light made by the crystal white snow
and the shining sun. I walk outside in the frigid cold wrapped up in multiple layers of clothes to
protect me from the harsh winter winds. The town is at a silent stand still as snow covers all the
roads. I pick up a handful of snow, and take a bite it tastes like a flavorless sno cone. I walk a
couple blocks to see dozens of little kids riding sleighs down the icy slopes of Main Street. I make
my way back home, but I could hear a loud screeching noise almost as if someone was using a

I could further my learning in saying a few minimal encourages like: go on, tell me more, right

my strengths are: Paraphrasing, which reflects the essentials of the speaker s message and gives
an understanding of what you heard. Reflecting feelings, which is focusing on the key feelings

Aneuploidy, or an incorrect number of chromosome, is a common occurrence, even in embryos
that look normal and healthy. When an embryo with an incorrect number of chromosomes is

FISH stands for fluorescent in situ hybridization, and it does not test all chromosomes. FISH can
only test 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, X and Y, because these chromosomes are most commonly
associated with miscarriages, failed IVF cycles, and genetic abnormalities caused by advanced
maternal age. The testing is 90 95% accurate, and we recommend it for all patients undergoing IVF.
CCS, or comprehensive chromosome screening, and it has many advantages over FISH. This
testing method can screen all 24 chromosomes, and current information suggests that CCS leads to
better implantation and live birth rates. Our Nashville genetics lab recommends CCS for patients
with a history of failed IVF cycles, recurrent miscarriage or advanced maternal age.

Reflective Essay About Self Reflection
During the Fall semester of 2017 at SUNY New Paltz, you took a course called Intermediate
Composition, and for this course we had an temporal theme, which was What does it mean to be
human in the digital landscape of 2017. Through this we took part in several projects consisting
of recording our digital technology usage throughout a 24 hour period, refraining from
technology for 24 hours, and also a research paper which posed a question regarding our
technology and how we are using it. We used the popular TV show Black Mirror to reference
from, as it expresses what could happen if we become too addicted to certain technologies.
Technology, although beneficial, can prove to harm us if we use it too much. Technology
serves us with entertainment, information, and services, but if we rely on it too much we can
become seemingly lost of our humanity. This is essentially our goal of the course, as we studied
several different aspects. Through our research, I found that I typically rely on my technology
for 2 main things, school and entertainment. I found myself spending around 6 hours per day
using my devices in total, including my cell phone, xbox, and television. This didn t surprise me
as I honestly expected to be on my devices more often. It should be noted that I conducted this
research on a day in which I had to attend my internship, rendering myself tech less for a portion
of the day. If it were a normal day, I could likely expect myself on my technology a much larger
portion, and this should be considered in the future. As technology grows to be more prevalent, we
should grow more wary of it. We haven t experienced a change so massive in our lives, as
technology plays a role in nearly every aspect of our lives currently. Imagine life in 10 years, or
even in 20 years when you read this. Times will change, technology evolves rapidly, and we need to
be careful of how we embrace and implement these new devices into our lives. We also frequently
referenced the show Black Mirror. This shows main focus is of what technology can do to us if we
rely on it too much. One episode that really spoke to me was Nosedive, season 3, episode 1. This
episode focuses on social media, and your ranking in society. Everybody

Even Mr. Blakeman, who conducted the investigation, did not appear to be under the impression

other individuals walking down a hallway on the other side of Commons and striking two tiles. The
damage that they caused is, unfortunately, a normal amount of damage for Commons on a
weekend night. Students frequently vandalize this dorm, and that is disgraceful, however one
small, isolated incident is not indicative of responsibility for a second incident with much greater
damages. The damages have not stopped since Ryan and the other individual shown in the video
have left campus. I believe that it is clear that a portion of residents in Commons simply continue
damaging Commons.
As a result of this case, I have been placed on deferred suspension for nearly an entire year.

The Conspiracy of Water Fluoridation Essay examples
Few object to the therapeutic use of fluoride to stop tooth decay, but fluoridation, the addition of
fluoride to the public water supply, can spark avid controversy. Most dentists, medical groups, and
government officials argue that fluoridation is a cheap and risk free venture that doubles cavity
prevention. In contrast, a small minority of dentists and conservative political groups argue that
fluorideis a hazardous, poisonous substance that should not be consumed. Some antifluoridationists
even claim that fluoridation is an untrustworthy form of socialized medicine. But rather than just
attacking fluoridation as socialized medicine, opponents originally claimed that it was a conspiracy

Constitutionality was frequently mentioned during a 1954 House Congressional hearing on the
Fluoridation of Water that discussed the enactment of a national ban to protect the public health
from the dangers of fluoridation of water (U.S. Congress, 1). Opponents appealed to the First
Amendment in two contexts. First, a pamphlet clearly depicted the view that fluoridation
constitutes a socialistic form of mass medication violating our State laws and the Federal
Constitution... [and] involves an unwarranted interference with individual liberty (U.S. Congress,
323). Placing fluoride in the public water supply denied opponents the freedom of expression to not
be medicated. Christian Scientists also claimed that fluoridation violated the freedom of religion. At
the hearing, James Watt, a spokesman of Christian Science, testified that mass medication,
constituted a violation of fundamental religious rights by violating a Christian Scientist s right to
heal with just prayer (U. S. Congress, 59). Opponents argued that as long as alternatives to water
treatment existed, fluoridation was unconstitutional and Un American due to its violations of
individual rights.
The visible conflict of paradigms results from the opposition s conscious identification with political
ideologies, whereas the fundamental cause of fluoridation opposition emerges from the individual s
subconscious craving for natural purity. According to Morris

The Importance Of Financial Reimbursement
Financial Reimbursement The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has developed the plan to move from
fee for service to fee for quality. To improve quality of care, federal reimbursement programs have
been initiated. For example, Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) set up the Value
Based Purchasing program. This program has four domains: Clinical care, patient experience, safety
and efficiency (CMS, 2016). Each domain has reimbursement ties; this ensures hospitals are doing
their best to provide quality care. Another reimbursement model is insurance companies paying for
performance. Insurance companies look at high cost procedures or conditions and create patient
registries that collect data. This data is then used in determining best... Show more content on

Using open communication ensures others are heard. The quality leader can learn from team
members different ways to meet pay for performance metrics. This situation used the mid level
providers expertise to determine where barriers occurred in the process. A barrier was determined
to be the lack of education on pay for performance metrics between mid level providers and
residents on the vascular surgery service. The mid level providers felt the residents lacked
accountability in meeting the quality metrics. A study by Vidyarthi, Green, Rosenbluth and Baron
(2014) determined financial reimbursement improved engagement of resident physicians in meeting
quality metrics. Listening and acknowledging this concern lead to a resident educational tool. The
tool spelled out the expectations of the service line related to the quality metrics. Communication of
real time data on metric progress also helped motivate this team. Once the process was in place,
continuous monitoring of progress and providing real time data allowed for mid level providers and
residents to accept responsibility for this metric. When providing care based on pay for
performance, communication of metrics must be open so the team understands the foundation of
the requested practice change. Communication techniques that encourage sharing of opinion,
creates trust for a more collaborative approach. Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment

(3) A hurricane is a serious hurricane with high winds and massive downpours. Tropical storms
happen all the more regularly in the Pacific Sea, uncommonly the West Pacific, than the Atlantic

Jesus And Socrates Similarities
Resentment and false allegation had made history record many devastating trials and death
surrounding controversial issues. Two such trials are the 399 BC trial of Socrates and the trial of
Jesus. Even though one person is noted primarily for philosophical inquiry in contrast to spiritual
growth, their teachings and trials both entail similarities. One such similarity, besides the debate of
their death, is the converging points on religion. Moreover, Socrateswas tried and condemned in
Athens for believing in the gods and corrupting the Athenian youth. The case was presented by Plato
as a mockery of justice, with Socrates as a martyr to truth against superstition, prejudice and
ignorance. Similarly the trial of Jesus Christ of Nazareth is viewed by many as the most notable in
history and its effect on human history has been incalculable. However, Socrates and Jesus are
compelling figures and have memorable personalities. Uniquely, these powerful and influential men
lived centuries ago and have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another point of similarity between Socrates and Jesus is the flexibility surrounding their
arguments. They used simplistic ideas such as analogies, metaphors, and parables to convey their
teachings to their followers and their logic. An example can be seen in the discussion between
Socrates and Euthyphro regarding piety through the story of Zeus and Cronus or comparing the
concept of knowledge to tending for horses and cattle. Jesus also did this by using quotes such as I
am the vine, you are the branches . He essentially established himself as the root and called his
followers branches so that they could spread his word and establish Christianity throughout the

Compare And Contrast Duke University Vs Ohio State University
Duke University and The Ohio State University are two really unique colleges where I am thinking
about attending. These colleges both have what I am looking for in a University. Between these
colleges, I think that the decision will be extremely tough. I love both schools locations, students,
atmosphere, and competitiveness. These colleges have some similarities, but in many ways are
complete opposites. Looking at all of the unique characteristics of Duke and OhioState, I believe
that this will be a tough choice.
When I think of Duke University one word comes to mind, elitism. The total enrollment for
undergraduates for this university is a little less than 7,000, which is a medium sized campus. This
is one factor that makes Duke extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of my favorite things about this university is that it is incredibly involved in football. They
also have a spectacular medical school that I could attend after graduating. Ohio State is known
for their medical school and also has many connections from doctors worldwide. This university
is also a lot closer to home so it would be easier for me as well. The Ohio State University is about
two hours away, which is a perfect distance to experience the full college life while still having the
option to come home on the weekends. Ohio State is a lot cheaper than Duke as well. Their
tuition is about $25,000. Also on the subject of tuition, nearly forty five percent of students
graduate with no debt. The university is ranked sixteenth best public university in the nation and
first in Ohio. Ohio State has an average ACT score of 28, not too off from mine. The university
also has a perfect student to teacher ratio that is 19:1. OSU is number seven in studying abroad
programs. This is another one of my favorite things about this university because I love traveling.
Like Duke, Ohio State has many clubs and activities that students can get involved in. This may

Separation And Education Of Young First Nations Children
The ambition of the Canadian government in regard to First Nations People was to assimilate them
into European culture and erase their culture from the country. Separation and education of young
First Nations children was the major means to achieve their objective. With substantial involvement
from the Christian churches, the residential school system was created and schools were built
throughout the entire country. The Kamloops Indian Residential School was attended by students
from the nations surrounding Kamloops including children from the Secwepemc Nation who
occupied the much of the southern interior of British Columbia. The school was ran by the Roman
Catholic Church. The Secwepemc children were no exception to the abominable conditions in the
residential school systems facilities and the effects of these schools can last a lifetime. The
students who attended the Kamloops Indian Residential School were cut off from their
communities and families; stripped of their language and culture; and subjected to abuse and
severe labour, hunger, and abuse. The Secwepemc People are indigenous to the south central
region of British Columbia. The Secwepemc Nation is also called the Shuswap Nation, more so
by non indigenous people, which is an English version of Secwepemc. Currently, the Nation is
comprised of seventeen separate bands; however, prior to a smallpox epidemic in 1862 which

The Pride of Zeus
In Greece and Asia Minor around 2000 B.C. there existed a common belief in a group of deities.
Of this group of deities were twelve Olympians who were immortal. From that group of Olympians
came the most dominant and commanding God known to immortals and mortals alike. That
Olympian god was Zeus; the son of Titans Cronus and Rhea. When Zeushad grown to maturity, he
waged war against his father with his disgorged brothers and sisters as allies. The battle was of
epic proportions, Zeus fighting from Mt. Olympus, Cronus from Mt. Othrys. This is Mark
Morford s interpretation of Zeus rise to power, which he d argue is a story of, The Hero and the
Quest (Morford, 76). While there is no arguing Zeus supremacy, it is easy to argue his... Show more

Only the reflection of Patroclus by Apollo s shield three times prevents this. This lack of
moderation shown by Patroclus, as well as the deeming of death before the end of battle by fate,
granted by Zeus, leads to his death. Patroclus replied, half fainting, For this once, Hector, make
your proud boast; for you are the victor, by help of Zeus and Apollo, who mastered me an easy
thing (Homer, 245). Zeus serves as an enforcer of fate in the epic, giving no ground to anyone,
even his blood relatives.
Zeus also shows no mercy to mortals in The Iliad. His own son, Sarpedon, was allowed to die at
the hands of Patroclus while Zeus looked on, unwilling to break fate and save even his own son.
Zeus was debating whether or not to take him from the battlefield, but Hera convinced him by
expressing the feelings other gods would have, namely anger. She told him that he would not be
praised and that other gods would possibly take their loved ones out of battle as well. Zeus was
confined to his own sorrow because he was not willing to take his son out of the battle. Zeus was
able, however, to have Apollo take his body from the battlefield and take him back to Lykia, where
he could be buried as a hero.
Zeus also wanted a respectable and honorable death for Hector, the Trojan hero, and was infuriated
when Achilles decided to desecrate the body of Hector. This epic ends when

Examples Of Sonnet Poems
William Shakespeare Sonnet Poems William Shakespeare has wrote many plays, stories, and
poems in his lifetime. William Shakespeare lived for 52 years, and in his lifetime he wrote 38
plays, his series on Sonnet poems, and 5 other poems. He is the most popularly read author right
behind the Bible. The sonnets he wrote were always 14 lines, and they all have the same amount
of syllables. So, if you wanted, you can actually sing every single sonnet to a melody. The two
sonnets I chose have to do with expressing your own beauty and passing the beauty on. In Sonnet
1, Shakespeare wrote, From fairest creatures we desire increase, That thereby beauty s rose might

You never expressed your own beauty, so no one but you and your grave will know your beauty.
The next sonnet I chose was Sonnet 11. Sonnet 11 starts out like this, As fast as thou shalt wane,
so fast thou grow st, In one of thine, from that which thou departest; And that fresh blood which
youngly thou bestow st, Thou mayst call thine when thou from youth convertest. The start of
this poem is saying, as fast as you will decline, you can also grow through one of your own
children. The youth or DNA that you pass on to a child, is you as a young child. You call that
child your own, because that was once you when you were younger. Herein lives wisdom,
beauty, and increase; Without this, folly, age, and cold decay. If all were minded so, the times
should cease, And threescore year would make the world away. Just like marriage, childbirth is
about good judgement, beauty, and reproduction. Without them, you will only have foolishness,
age, and the decay of death. If everyone was like you, the human race would end, and in sixty
years there would be no more world. Let those whom nature hath not made for store, Harsh,
featureless, and rude, barrenly perish. Look whom she best endowed, she gave the more, Which
bounteous gift thou shouldst in bounty cherish. So let the people who aren t good enough to

Compare And Contrast Theseus And Oedipus
While I was analyzing the two Greek heroes Theseus and Oedipus origins, it became obvious that
they share quite a few differences and similarities as is common amongst heroes in Greek
mythology. The first similarity I found the two heroes shared was the love and honor their subjects
regarded their kings with. Theseuswas revered for his strategic planning and how he used his
power to create an equal ruling between the power of the king and his people. He was
acknowledged as one of the first leaders to create a Democracy, allowing his people to have a
say into how the kingdom is ruled. I myself, will be your leader in wars, and at all times the
protector of laws, but beyond this all my fellow citizens shall have equal rights with me (216).
By allowing the inhabitants of Attica to access part of the power of the king, Theseus knew that
his subjects would abide by this ruling because of the value and gain they would receive from
becoming a united community. I feel this peaceful treaty between the two dynamics; the rich and
the poor shows that Theseus was an intelligent and courageous king worthy of the equal amounts
of love and fear the king instilled in the city of Athens. The way Theseus resolved the issue
between the two class systems leads me to believe that Theseus admirers rigid structure and
control but since he is willing to give some of his power to the citizens of Athens in order to keep
peace, he became known as a peaceful ruler instead of a forceful tyrant.

Milkman follows Ruth to see with his own eyes the proof that Ruth is a sexual deviant, and

Maria Theresa Research Paper
Maria Theresa was born in Vienna, Austria at the Hofburg Palace on May 13, 1717 and was the
second child and eldest daughter of Charles VI, who was the Holy Roman Emperor of the Holy
Roman Empire and his wife, Elisabeth Christine of Brunswick WolfenbГјttel. Since Charles VI was

The Montessori Method Essay
The Montessori Method (Word count includes Annotated Bibliography)
The Montessori method began in the early 1900 s by the first female doctor in Italy, Dr. Mary
Montessori, as a way of educating mentally disabled children. Her ideas were so successful with
these children that she began to apply her understanding of learning to study the potential of
normally functioning children (Oalf, 2001). Dr. Montessori s approach to education stresses the
importance of learning styles, independence and responsibility.
According to Maria Montessori, In the special environment prepared?in our schools, the children

In reality, the children move about the classroom independently, choosingthe order of their
learning activities. There may be 15 or more activities, or ?jobs? as they are called in some
Montessori classrooms, occurring at the same time with small groups or individual work, yet
the classroom remains quiet, yet busy and productive, sometimes with the soft hush of classical
music playing in the background. Many Montessori school classrooms place a card around the
child?s neck with the day?s objectives written in the form of a checklist for the students to
monitor themselves. This checklist encourages the students to take responsibility for their own
learning, as well as discourages prompt dependence, since the student need not wait for
instruction. Some of the activities in a Montessori classroom include reading, pre reading using
phonics, math, discovery science and writing. Children learn skills in a way that he or she is
not aware that learning is taking place. For example, a child playing in the sand box with a small
rake is not aware that he or she is learning fine motor skills and how to hold and control a pencil.
Another observation in a Montessori classroom is that most classrooms tend to span three grade
levels. This practice allows to children to become mentors to younger students. Also, the large gap
in developmental levels allows children to ?learn at their own pace? (Keller, 2001), which is
another important Montessori

The Democracy Of Color By Philip Cowan
In The Democracy of color, author Philip Cowan outlines a brief overview of the use of color in
film by noting the contribution of cinematography and the relatively blind eye given to the study of
color. Although all cinematographers have their own outlook towards color schemes, a deeper
meaning is redefined between the psychological and cultural use of color. The use of color
psychologically requires an understanding that is more universally consistent. This creates an
emotional response from the observers. The cultural use of color varies from different regional
areas. Typical use of color creates symbolism that has no psychological or cultural meaning without
setting a balanced, contextual association that connects it to viewers. Cowan challenged Russell s
argument that the fundamental component in film production can be controlled by the
cinematographer, with the use of art direction and set design, by stating that a cinematographer can
not control the color, but contribute different elucidations towards a film s images.
Method
To help understand the method used to evaluate the different color schemes used in films, Cowan
interprets many different films and the director s reasons behind the colors chosen for their films.
In Alexander Nevsky, the use of white hoods for the Teutonic Knights was used to represent
ruthlessness, as opposed to the typical mentality of innocence. This contrast used by Kracauer
further implicated cultural connotations with their contextual

How Does Lyndon B Johnson Use Rhetoric In We Shall Overcome
In Lyndon B. Johnson s speech We Shall Overcome he uses rhetorical technique. He uses rhetoric
to get his point across that African American citizens deserve equal rights to vote. In his speech he
talks about how America needs to act on the things it promised to all citizens. He says that America
is lacking dignity and they are not fighting for all to have freedom. He wants America to right
wrongs, serve men, and do justice.
First, Lyndon claims that the issue of voting rights for African Americancitizens challenges
America s values and denying this right to all citizens is an injustice. He justifies this claim
throughout his speech. For example, he says in one part that it is the duty of Americans to right
social wrongs and pursue justice for all citizen. Another example, he says there is no reason for
anyone to be held back from voting and they are only held back because they are black. This
justifies his claim because it supports the idea that it is an injustice to keep African Americans from
voting and it s only happening because of the unjust treatment of blacks. In this part of the ... Show

Christopher Bruce Ghost Dance
Ghost Dances has a tremendous impact and audiences in many countries have delighted in its
distinctive rhythmic movement performed to haunting South American tunes. However, it is the
representation of the oppression of ordinary people, symbolised by sinister ghost figures, which
give the work much of its resonance. (NSW Department of Education and Training)
The Ballet dance, which also incorporates movements of contemporary and South American folk
dance, entitled Ghost Dancers sends a message to the viewer that the oppression of everyday people
(based on the Chilean Coup) is well represented throughout the dance, mostly due to the movement,

Ghost Dancers fuses many styles of dance including the primary style of ballet, contemporary
and traditional Chilean folk dance. Ballet is the base of the dance as Bruce is primarily a Ballet
choreographer. Contemporary is evident as flexed feet and bent arms and legs are seen
throughout the performance. And Chilean folk dance can be seen in many sections of the dance
with the civilians, as there are many quick movements of the feet and, as shown in the fourth
section with the women, they do a movement throughout their section, which consists of change
of direction with their arms out. The costumes that the dancers wear are also significant. The
costume that the ghost dancers wear is based on the Native American legend of the Ghost Dance
or Natdia. This spiritual dance was performed during the late 1880 s, when things were bad and
the Native Americans needed something to give them hope. The dance reached its high point just
before the Wounded Knee Massacre of 1890, where US soldiers opened fire and killed over 200
hundred Native Americans. They believed that performing the ghost dance would later reunite
them with their ancestors along the line. The civilians costumes represented that of everyday
people. They all had different clothes on and of the three different classes of people, lower, middle
and upper class. This gives a representation that during the coup that no specific class was targeted

story concerns the boundaries of tradition that are overstepped by the headmaster of an
unprogressive school. (Chinua Achebe). We can often see modern day governments overstepping
public boundaries. The governing bodies that have overriding powers over the outcomes of
historical and protected lands, often produce unfavorable protests by public groups that evolve from
environmental concerns and public rights. With the smallest rebuttals by these protesting groups,
we can sometimes see the power in which community contains.... Show more content on

an ancestral path would bring tension to a community and their traditions. Michael disregards the

Anxiety In Tell-Tale-Heart By Edgar Allan Poe
In the story,Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe,Poe describes anxiety in many different
ways.First, the narrator tells us about his confrontation with the police They were making a
mockery of my horror(Poe 94). The narrator is slight crazy. He thinks they are laughing at him
but, they really aren t .The narrator could not understand why they were smiling with a faded grin
and it really upsetted him.But before we get to that part, let s talk about what led him there. The old
man and the narrator lived together. The narrator never had any problems with the man,but he kept
going into his room stalking him. It is evident that the old man is scared because The old man
sprang up in bed, crying out Who s there (Poe 94). This shows both fear and anxiety... Show more

The old man stayed up for a long time knowing someone was in the room, but he couldn t hear or
see him. The narrator stood for a long time telling himself When I had waited a long time, very
patiently, without hearing him lie down (Poe 91). This shows the setting because they waited a long
time without moving a muscle. Finally,The man grabbed the old man a shook him down off his
bed striking him for many minutes. He chopped the body up in many parts. He hid the body parts
under the floorboards and put the blood in the tub. This shows setting because everything that
happened took place in that room. The man was planning a week to finish his mission and it was
finally accomplished. And this I did for seven long nights every night just at midnight (Poe 91).
Lastly, the police came to the room. They didn t even suspect anything wrong, until the main
character went completely Bonkers! The narrator heard the beating of the old man s heart but,it
really wasn t there. He felt the cops heard it too but, they weren t saying anything just to mock him.
He eventually screeched out that he killed the old man.The quotes that I used build suspense
because each one of them describes a thought, feeling, fear or scary setting that makes you
nervous.Even as a reader.These techniques conclude strong

Similarities Between Frederick Douglass And Harriet Jacobs
Frederick Douglass and Harriet Jacobs narratives are both very similar and yet are very different
as they give different points of reference from the hardships African Americans faced during the
slave era. Both of Douglass and Jacobs emphasize the need to keep family together and how far
someone they knew would go to attain freedom or buy back freedom and how it really never
happened. It was emphasized by slave owners to separate families at young ages which is known
to be cruel and serves a purpose in the maturation of a slave. Although they both agree that slavery
dehumanized slaves and depict gory images, these narratives come from two different
perspectives; Jacobs a female slave who had a happy sheltered child hood which lead to sexual and
mental abuse, and Frederick a male who knowledge was with held from and who was tainted with
gory mental images at a very young age of slaves being beat right before him.... Show more content

1930 Olmsted-Bartholomew Parks Plan For The Los Angeles...
Eden by Design is a captivating read. A replica of the never adopted 1930 Olmsted Bartholomew
parks plan for L.A. County, Parks, Playgrounds, and Beaches for the Los Angeles Region, is the
essence of the book. Going through the introductory parts made me realize that had this plan,
which itself is extraordinary in its latitude and farsightedness, been implemented the congestive
mass of concrete that represents Los Angeles in the modern times could have been avoided. To
start with, the one element I liked the most about this plan is the parkways. It was important for
Los Angeles to have a system of continuous landscaped parkways dedicated to pleasure travel and
to act as lungs for a rather polluted city. Even though after going through the plan, I m not quite
adamant on the fact that why was it dropped.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Or, was it because the parkways were considered to be another factor adding to the congestion in
the city? Or, the financial concerns of the project were immensely overwhelming for it be turned
down by the developers? Nonetheless, Hise and Deverell do show us the positive side of this
inhumane corrupt elite behavior of the developers and political entrepreneurs and that they did
struggle to improve the urban environment. This book explains essentially where we are today in
the Los Angeles and such cities which lack the presence of usable parks, ironically by centering on
what to avoid and what actually didn t happen. To complete it, I would say it is strange that even
today, many of the same issues that beleaguered us about a century ago, still hang

Personal Note On Social Skills
I try very hard to teach my children that social skills are very important in the world. You have to
be able to communicate and speak your mind. Those who hide in the background and don t say
anything are the people that don t get very far in real life situations. My oldest daughter has this
down to a science in the fact that she deals with customers on a daily basis and has to be able to
be people friendly at her job. My second daughter is all bundled up and shy and won t speak out
for the things that she thinks is right. This causes me and her to have conflict on a daily basis,
especially through the things she deals with at school from the other students and teachers. My
youngest daughter let me tell you about her she is not shy to tell... Show more content on

Hopefully I have tried to keep the social skills to a professional level in the jobs that I have had.
Social skills are very important all around the world; if you don t have good social skills your
professionalism could take a big hit for the rest of your working days. This is very important with
the learning of the job, if you have bad posture, your arms are crossed, you re not looking at the
person talking to you, and these are not the social skills you want to put out there for everyone to
see. Principles of good social skills can take you to the top of the ladder. You could make better
money and have a better work environment. When social skills are learned they can be easily
taught. If we had a social skills class to take I would make the world take it, so we could be better
communicators and better listeners. This would make a big difference in the work place and the
outside world. Would the world be war free if we knew better social skills? I think it would be a
better place to live and a safer place for our kids to live. So why don t we all learn social skills, and
make our world the place we want to live in. Life is how you make it and if you have social skills
then you can compete on any level you want to compete on. Make social skills somewhat a
priority in your everyday living so that you are confident and know how to be polite and
responsive to other people and their interest. Social skills are like M M s they make the world go
round and round.

The United States Has The Largest Prison Population In
The United States has the largest prison population in the world, but fails to perform the duties of
successful correctional facilities. The lack of rehabilitation leads to unsuccessful reintegration
into society as people released from prison are soon sent back for committing yet another crime,
contributing to a violent crime rate of 372.6 per 100,000 inhabitants in the US in 2015 (FBI
National Press Office, 2016). According to the US Department of Justice, more than 10,000
convicted criminals are released from US prisons each week and approximately two thirds of them
are rearrested within three years (2015). We must fix the US prisonsystem because I fear that by

Further, in order to lower the recidivism rate, ex convicts must receive some sort of help to
successfully reintegrate into society upon release. The successful rehabilitation of convicted
criminals and the successful prisoner reintegration into society would ultimately lead to a safer
and more capable society by lowering the recidivism rate, making those the policy goals and
outcomes the ones that matter most. I chose to study Norway s prison policy because I have
heard that Norway has the most humane prisons in the world and I wished to research what that
meant and how successful those humane policies really are. Norway is worth looking at because
their recidivism rate is very low, suggesting that their prison policy is successful. According to the
World Prison Brief, Institute for Criminal Policy Research, in 2016, the incarceration rate in
Norway was 74 per 100,000 inhabitants, based on an estimated national population of 5.25
million, resulting in a total prison population of 3,874; the occupancy level of their prisons is
89.9%. Their low incarceration rate is, in part, contributed to by that Norway does not subject
convicts to long stays in prison. In fact, the average

Explain How Social Class Is A Big Factor In Determining...
In today s society people have different life chances depending on what social class they are born
into. In this essay I will be exploring how social class is a big factor in determining life chances.
For example, you are more likely to receive a better education if you go to a private or public
school, which only the middle/upper classes can afford. The only way a working class student
could afford the fee paying schools is through a scholarship. This is clearly unfair as scholarships
are very competitive and people who can afford to pay for private/public schools apply for them as
well. This shows that social classhas a big factor in determining life chances, because if you have a
middle/upper class upbringing you can essentially pay to have a better life.
Life chances can also be influenced by material deprivation; such as catchment areas. In deprived
areas there are many social problems such as; high unemployment, poverty, juvenile delinquency,
crime, drug abuse and poor role models. This can have a negative effect on a child education as
they could rebel against school and fall into a pupil subculture. Also, people with more money tend
to go to better free schools due to catchment area and can prevent a person from going to a better
school.
If you look at life chances from a working class perspective, we have to look at the work of Karl
Marx. Marx believed that the working class are forced to sell their labour power to the capitalists
since they own no means of

The Achievements Of The French Revolution
The French Revolution was the anger of a nation that was suppressed under unfair laws and rules
for decades. The revolution happened for a good purpose, but ended as a disasters in Europe s
history. The French Revolution is an important event in history because it spread the idea of
democracy even though it did not gain democracy for its own. While the French Revolutionspread
ideas of democracy and helped other nations, it was not a positive happening in French history
because it did not achieve most of its goals. I will consider French s politics, economy, social
structure, religion before and after the revolution, and also talk about the achievements of the
revolution, such as the Napoleonic Code. In neither of those fields the revolution... Show more

This was the French civil code established under Napoleon I in 1804. The civil code gave post
revolutionary France its first coherent set of laws concerning property, colonial affairs, the
family and individual rights. Before Napoleon, law were not standardized across France.
Northern of France was ruled under customary laws, but Southern followed Roman laws, and the
Roman Catholic Churches had a major role in the government. There are pros and cons in the
civil code of Napoleon. An example for pro is that it standardized the laws across France. For
example, the church could no longer control secular institutions. Also, judges could not make new
laws anymore, only the central government had that power. Hereditary of the nobles and class
privileges eliminated. Private property, freedom of contract and freedom of individuals affirmed.
Equality was a part of the revolution s slogan Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, but it was not for
everyone which is a con. Equality was given to all male citizens but not women. For instance,
women were defined as machines for producing children, and also mentioned that they have to obey
men because they are men s slave by nature. This is the exact opposite of the revolution s definition
of equality. The French Revolution failed to achieve both liberty and equality, two major goals of
the revolution, and it was part of the slogan of the revolution. Did the revolution achieve the third
part of the slogan, fraternity? The answer is No. After the revolutionaries succeeded, they did not
care about fraternity because they would kill and guillotined anyone against the revolution.
According to Llewellyn, On October 25th the newly formed National Convention went further,
banning all Г©migrГ©s from France and promising them the guillotine should they ever return

Business Cycle Of Recession Essay
The business cycle of the GDP rising and falling all over again is surely how the economy
behaves and since today we have not been able to explain exactly why and how to stop it.
Business cycles are composed by 4 different periods; expansion, peak, contraction and trough.
Every period of economic growth and prosperity, is usually followed by a recession. The
duration of each cycle varies sometimes 8 years or even 10 but the order is always the same.
Recession are very harmful for the standards of living and economists try at all cause to avoid
them (Boyes Melvin, 2016). Recession is defined as a period of about six months that economy
declines significantly. According to Amadeo, there are 5 economic indicators that will drop when a

Big businesses would try to lower their expenses by stop hiring or even cut the personal, which we
saw previously with unemployment. Furthermore, businesses would cut costs by stop buying new
equipment or eliminate advertisings which eventually would affect big and small companies
involved as well. And that is how the cycle begins. Other problem companies and industries face
are that because of the lousy economy recession carries, costumers might be delayed with their
debts to the company. Consequently, the company pays late their own debts which can result in
reducing the valuation of the corporation s debt and its ability to obtain financing. The companies
that cannot pay their loans may enter in reorganization or get out of business. On the other hand,
small businesses get yet worse than big businesses. Without big cash reserves and capital assets it
makes it harder for these businesses to survive the recession (Davis, 2016). In conclusion, that is
how many businesses get in bankrupt during the recessions. In the chart below is the data about the
rate of bankruptcies in the United

The Role Of Ethics And Culture On An International...
Abstract
Geert Hofstede is one of many sociologists that studied and emphasized the importance of ethics
and culture in an international business environment. He contended how the culture of the leaders
and staff can help one to determine the achievement or ineffectiveness of that business. Rue
Byars described leadership as an ability to influence people and willingly follow one s guidance
or adhere to one s decisions (Rue, Byars, 2009). The most successful CEO s and leaders have a
well defined strategic vision, strong passion for the job and the people that work for them and most
importantly excellent communication skills. The leaders and managers are the ones the set, define,
and shape the culture. They have to be aligned with the culture they intend to lead in order for it to
be effective. They must also have a culture that is inseparable from the company they are employed
at. Ethics, culture, and global business responsibilities are an integral part of everything the
business does. The overall goal is to connect globally and build multinational industries.
Unfortunately, due to the number of increasing public scandals international entities have
developed various strategies such as policies, processes, and codes of conduct to prevent ethical
issues. It s not only the leader that should be held responsible but the entire corporation. Their lack
of responsibility or unethical behavior are one of the many reasons that a business reputation can be
damaged. It also prevents

  • 2. How Does The Painters Job Score On The Core Job... 1.How does the painters job score on the core job characteristics before and after the changes were made? How can the positive impact of the job redesign be explained? Job core characteristics fall into five categories, which, are as follows: skill variety, task identity task significance, autonomy, and job feedback. Skill variety is how many different activities a job has. I would say before and after the changes skill variety was low. Task identity is to the degree a job is completed. Basically it is how far along a person takes a job from the beginning to the end of a process. For the painter s task identity, I would say it was moderate before and after the changes. Task significance is how important the job is to the company or society in general. For the painters I would say the before and after the changes task significance was moderate. Autonomy is the amount of freedom and independence an employee has over a particular job. Before the changes the painter had very low autonomy, nut after the changes I would say it was high. Last is job feedback, which is how much information the employee receives on how well they did their job. I would say job feedback was pretty high before and after the changes were made. The positive impact of job redesign can be seen in autonomy redesign. Before the changes the room was too hot and the hook speed was too fast. However, after the company let the employees place fans where they want and control the hook speed the autonomy score ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Comparing The Five Pillars Of Islam The core practices of the Islamic faith, the Five Pillars of Islam, correlate in many ways with Christian practices, but also lend to adaptation requirements for many Muslims living in the United States. These pillars are faith, prayer, giving of alms, fasting, and a pilgrimage to Mecca. Each of these pillars are built around strengthening a person s journey through religious Islamic life. As much tension as there is at times between Christians and Muslims, many of the fundamental religious practices are quite similar. One of the similarities between Christians and Muslims is the practice of faith. Both developed creeds summarizing theological beliefs in God, forming the central foundation of religious life. Building on this foundation, is a lifestyle of prayer central in communicating with God. Though the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example is the Muslim prayer life. Prayer times may conflict with work times, and there may not always be an appropriate place to pray in the workplace. Employers may not always want to make the slight accommodation necessary to allow time for prayers (Corbett Hemeyer, p. 208). The five required prayer times do not always fit in with work break schedules, and many Muslims must adapt the time of day that they pray. However, some employers do accommodate these religious practices. While working on a remodel project, I saw how one well known business in Columbus, OH has done a few things to allow Muslims to practice prayer time. First, when remolding restrooms that are used by many Islam followers, the company installed foot washing stations after they learned many employees would try to use the sinks or toilets to wash for prayer. Second, in remolding the break room associated with the restroom remodel, a privacy section was added with several rugs to allow space for private ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The data analysis discussed the graduates perception of their comfort level with leadership, delegation skills, management, professional identity and teamwork (Jones Mbewe, 2011). ADPIE stands for assessment, diagnosis, patient plan, implementation and evaluation of the implementations. It was a very structured approach that has to be completed in the SBAR or ADPIE format. It had to be done in order and each area had to be completed. There was no creative approach allowed. Spiritualty was never part of any aspect of the process. There were times when as a student, I did the SBAR or ADPIE format and I would be marked down for adding information that was not on the checklist or if I left out a portion of a particular section. For example, if the patient did not have chest tubes and I did not state the patient had no tubes, I was marked down. If I added the patients spiritual needs in the format it would be crossed out because it did not fit the checklist. The nursing approach that was used in our program was based on theory we learned in lecture. We wrote care plans that included an assessment, structural variables, nursing diagnosis, goals, nursing interventions and evaluations. We were marked down if the interventions didn t match the nursing diagnosis or if there was insufficient assessments made to come up with a nursing diagnosis or goal. There was no delegation or leadership involved with our approach. It was structured and specific with little ability to vary from a nursing care approach that was taught. According to the (Nursing Fact Sheet, 2011) the additional classes in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. My Most Important Day Essay Honestly if I were to think of my most important day, not even one would come to mind, because when your put on the spot to think of one it s hard. Although, there is one day that out of all is clear as daylight in my head, down to every second. I think this is due to the day being different than all the other days. In my life, I experienced something I thought I never would. My most important day of my life is when I finally met my older cousinAkash, while we were on our vacation on the cruise. I always knew my cousin Akash, but we had never truly spoke nor bonded. He d always do his own thing, and I guess you could say I looked up to him due to the type of person he was. I d really only see him at family parties due to us not being first cousins, but suddenly he stopped coming to them. It didn t matter if it was a family get together, birthday, Christmas, or anything else, he would never show up. This made it impossible for me to ever see him. However, then I found out that he d be coming with us on the cruise. To be honest, at first I didn t care much because I thought he wouldn t associate with me much, but I was entirely wrong. It was the third day on the cruise and my cousin had been previously with the uncles the first two days. He knocked on my room door with me and my other cousin Dave inside. I answered, and right away he asked the both of us Yo what do you guys want to do? At first I was shocked that he was here, but instead of acting confused I decided to go ... At the time, the Polish capital was occupied by the Russians, who were seeking to weaken the local elite . Together, they demonstrated in a major discovery that radioactivity was not the result of a chemical reaction but a property of the element or, more specifically, of the atom. Marie then studied pitchblende, a uranic mineral in which she measured a much more intense activity than is present in uranium alone. She found that there were other substances besides uranium that were very radioactive, such as polonium and radium, which she discovered in 1898. Pierre tested radium on his skin. It caused a burn, and then a wound. Its effect on man was proven. Soon radium was being used to treat malign tumors, Chemotherapy was born. In 1903, Marie defended her discovery. Together with Becquerel, the Curies were awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics for their discovery of natural radioactivity. Their happiness was short lived. In 1906, Pierre, weakened by radiation and overworked, was run over by a car. Marie was forced to continue alone. Through this we took part in several projects consisting of recording our digital technology usage throughout a 24 hour period, refraining from technology for 24 hours, and also a research paper which posed a question regarding our technology and how we are using it. We used the popular TV show Black Mirror to reference from, as it expresses what could happen if we become too addicted to certain technologies. Technology serves us with entertainment, information, and services, but if we rely on it too much we can become seemingly lost of our humanity. This is essentially our goal of the course, as we studied several different aspects. Through our research, I found that I typically rely on my technology for 2 main things, school and entertainment. I found myself spending around 6 hours per day using my devices in total, including my cell phone, xbox, and television. This didn t surprise me as I honestly expected to be on my devices more often. It should be noted that I conducted this research on a day in which I had to attend my internship, rendering myself tech less for a portion of the day. If it were a normal day, I could likely expect myself on my technology a much larger portion, and this should be considered in the future. As technology grows to be more prevalent, we should grow more wary of it. We haven t experienced a change so massive in our lives, as technology plays a role in nearly every aspect of our lives currently. Imagine life in 10 years, or even in 20 years when you read this. Times will change, technology evolves rapidly, and we need to be careful of how we embrace and implement these new devices into our lives. We also frequently referenced the show Black Mirror. This shows main focus is of what technology can do to us if we rely on it too much. One episode that really spoke to me was Nosedive, season 3, episode 1. However, it is the amount of damage and the severity of monetary compensation demanded of me that I take issue with. The fact of the matter is that I am being assessed a fine of several thousand dollars based on video evidence that my guest damaged two ceiling tiles. Although I find any damageto what I consider my home to be a personal affront and a despicable act, I strongly feel that in this situation the punishment is exceedingly disproportionate to the crime. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is absolutely no evidence that Ryan caused the extensive damage seen in the 180s and 280s. Even Mr. Blakeman, who conducted the investigation, did not appear to be under the impression that Ryan caused these extensive damages. The only evidence of vandalism shows Ryan and two other individuals walking down a hallway on the other side of Commons and striking two tiles. The damage that they caused is, unfortunately, a normal amount of damage for Commons on a weekend night. Students frequently vandalize this dorm, and that is disgraceful, however one small, isolated incident is not indicative of responsibility for a second incident with much greater damages. The damages have not stopped since Ryan and the other individual shown in the video have left campus. I believe that it is clear that a portion of residents in Commons simply continue damaging Commons. As a result of this case, I have been placed on deferred suspension for nearly an entire year. The Conspiracy of Water Fluoridation Essay examples Few object to the therapeutic use of fluoride to stop tooth decay, but fluoridation, the addition of fluoride to the public water supply, can spark avid controversy. Most dentists, medical groups, and government officials argue that fluoridation is a cheap and risk free venture that doubles cavity prevention. In contrast, a small minority of dentists and conservative political groups argue that fluorideis a hazardous, poisonous substance that should not be consumed. Some antifluoridationists even claim that fluoridation is an untrustworthy form of socialized medicine. First, a pamphlet clearly depicted the view that fluoridation constitutes a socialistic form of mass medication violating our State laws and the Federal Constitution... • 19. The Importance Of Financial Reimbursement Financial Reimbursement The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has developed the plan to move from fee for service to fee for quality. To improve quality of care, federal reimbursement programs have been initiated. For example, Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) set up the Value Based Purchasing program. This program has four domains: Clinical care, patient experience, safety and efficiency (CMS, 2016). Each domain has reimbursement ties; this ensures hospitals are doing their best to provide quality care. Another reimbursement model is insurance companies paying for performance. Using open communication ensures others are heard. The quality leader can learn from team members different ways to meet pay for performance metrics. This situation used the mid level providers expertise to determine where barriers occurred in the process. A barrier was determined to be the lack of education on pay for performance metrics between mid level providers and residents on the vascular surgery service. The mid level providers felt the residents lacked accountability in meeting the quality metrics. A study by Vidyarthi, Green, Rosenbluth and Baron (2014) determined financial reimbursement improved engagement of resident physicians in meeting quality metrics. Listening and acknowledging this concern lead to a resident educational tool. The tool spelled out the expectations of the service line related to the quality metrics. Communication of real time data on metric progress also helped motivate this team. Once the process was in place, continuous monitoring of progress and providing real time data allowed for mid level providers and residents to accept responsibility for this metric. When providing care based on pay for performance, communication of metrics must be open so the team understands the foundation of the requested practice change. Two such trials are the 399 BC trial of Socrates and the trial of Jesus. Even though one person is noted primarily for philosophical inquiry in contrast to spiritual growth, their teachings and trials both entail similarities. One such similarity, besides the debate of their death, is the converging points on religion. Moreover, Socrateswas tried and condemned in Athens for believing in the gods and corrupting the Athenian youth. The case was presented by Plato as a mockery of justice, with Socrates as a martyr to truth against superstition, prejudice and ignorance. Compare And Contrast Theseus And Oedipus While I was analyzing the two Greek heroes Theseus and Oedipus origins, it became obvious that they share quite a few differences and similarities as is common amongst heroes in Greek mythology. The first similarity I found the two heroes shared was the love and honor their subjects regarded their kings with. Theseuswas revered for his strategic planning and how he used his power to create an equal ruling between the power of the king and his people. He was acknowledged as one of the first leaders to create a Democracy, allowing his people to have a say into how the kingdom is ruled. I myself, will be your leader in wars, and at all times the protector of laws, but beyond this all my fellow citizens shall have equal rights with me (216). By allowing the inhabitants of Attica to access part of the power of the king, Theseus knew that his subjects would abide by this ruling because of the value and gain they would receive from becoming a united community. I feel this peaceful treaty between the two dynamics; the rich and the poor shows that Theseus was an intelligent and courageous king worthy of the equal amounts of love and fear the king instilled in the city of Athens. The way Theseus resolved the issue between the two class systems leads me to believe that Theseus admirers rigid structure and control but since he is willing to give some of his power to the citizens of Athens in order to keep peace, he became known as a peaceful ruler instead of a forceful tyrant. ... I will do this in relation to Mertonian norms Communism and Organised Skeptism as well as Ian Mitroff s counter norms Secrecy, Passionate Commitment and Dogmatism for Watson s choice to indirectly make reference to these norms and counter norms aid us in the sense that they play the crucial role of facilitating us in understanding the views and information he presents in his account.... It is seen that each scientist had something to contribute whether it was a discovery or knowledge in their area of expertise that was beneficial in the discovery of the DNA structure. For example, when Crick saw Crystallographer V.Vand s discovery of a theory for the diffraction of x rays by helical molecules though he thought the theory was invalid it peaked his curiosity in finding an accurate theory. Furthermore, in Watson s interview it is seen that when it comes to science he thinks that if there is scientific knowledge that will affect human beings , scientists, the scientific community should work to ensure that they understand the knowledge and ... • 38. The Democracy Of Color By Philip Cowan In The Democracy of color, author Philip Cowan outlines a brief overview of the use of color in film by noting the contribution of cinematography and the relatively blind eye given to the study of color. Although all cinematographers have their own outlook towards color schemes, a deeper meaning is redefined between the psychological and cultural use of color. The use of color psychologically requires an understanding that is more universally consistent. This creates an emotional response from the observers. The cultural use of color varies from different regional areas. Typical use of color creates symbolism that has no psychological or cultural meaning without setting a balanced, contextual association that connects it to viewers. Cowan challenged Russell s argument that the fundamental component in film production can be controlled by the cinematographer, with the use of art direction and set design, by stating that a cinematographer can not control the color, but contribute different elucidations towards a film s images. Method To help understand the method used to evaluate the different color schemes used in films, Cowan interprets many different films and the director s reasons behind the colors chosen for their films. In Alexander Nevsky, the use of white hoods for the Teutonic Knights was used to represent ruthlessness, as opposed to the typical mentality of innocence. This contrast used by Kracauer further implicated cultural connotations with their contextual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He uses rhetoric to get his point across that African American citizens deserve equal rights to vote. In his speech he talks about how America needs to act on the things it promised to all citizens. He says that America is lacking dignity and they are not fighting for all to have freedom. He wants America to right wrongs, serve men, and do justice. First, Lyndon claims that the issue of voting rights for African Americancitizens challenges America s values and denying this right to all citizens is an injustice. He justifies this claim throughout his speech. For example, he says in one part that it is the duty of Americans to right social wrongs and pursue justice for all citizen. Another example, he says there is no reason for anyone to be held back from voting and they are only held back because they are black. Christopher Bruce Ghost Dance Ghost Dances has a tremendous impact and audiences in many countries have delighted in its distinctive rhythmic movement performed to haunting South American tunes. However, it is the representation of the oppression of ordinary people, symbolised by sinister ghost figures, which give the work much of its resonance. (NSW Department of Education and Training) The Ballet dance, which also incorporates movements of contemporary and South American folk dance, entitled Ghost Dancers sends a message to the viewer that the oppression of everyday people (based on the Chilean Coup) is well represented throughout the dance, mostly due to the movement, costumes, sets, lighting, music and overall mood of the dance. Ghost Dancers fuses many styles of dance including the primary style of ballet, contemporary and traditional Chilean folk dance. Ballet is the base of the dance as Bruce is primarily a Ballet choreographer. Contemporary is evident as flexed feet and bent arms and legs are seen throughout the performance. And Chilean folk dance can be seen in many sections of the dance with the civilians, as there are many quick movements of the feet and, as shown in the fourth section with the women, they do a movement throughout their section, which consists of change of direction with their arms out. The costumes that the dancers wear are also significant. The costume that the ghost dancers wear is based on the Native American legend of the Ghost Dance or Natdia. This spiritual dance was performed during the late 1880 s, when things were bad and the Native Americans needed something to give them hope. The dance reached its high point just before the Wounded Knee Massacre of 1890, where US soldiers opened fire and killed over 200 hundred Native Americans. They believed that performing the ghost dance would later reunite them with their ancestors along the line. The civilians costumes represented that of everyday people. They all had different clothes on and of the three different classes of people, lower, middle and upper class. Similarities Between Frederick Douglass And Harriet Jacobs Frederick Douglass and Harriet Jacobs narratives are both very similar and yet are very different as they give different points of reference from the hardships African Americans faced during the slave era. Both of Douglass and Jacobs emphasize the need to keep family together and how far someone they knew would go to attain freedom or buy back freedom and how it really never happened. It was emphasized by slave owners to separate families at young ages which is known to be cruel and serves a purpose in the maturation of a slave. Although they both agree that slavery dehumanized slaves and depict gory images, these narratives come from two different perspectives; Jacobs a female slave who had a happy sheltered child hood which lead to sexual and mental abuse, and Frederick a male who knowledge was with held from and who was tainted with gory mental images at a very young age of slaves being beat right before him.... • 50. Explain How Social Class Is A Big Factor In Determining... In today s society people have different life chances depending on what social class they are born into. In this essay I will be exploring how social class is a big factor in determining life chances. For example, you are more likely to receive a better education if you go to a private or public school, which only the middle/upper classes can afford. The only way a working class student could afford the fee paying schools is through a scholarship. This is clearly unfair as scholarships are very competitive and people who can afford to pay for private/public schools apply for them as well. This shows that social classhas a big factor in determining life chances, because if you have a middle/upper class upbringing you can essentially pay to have a better life. Life chances can also be influenced by material deprivation; such as catchment areas. In deprived areas there are many social problems such as; high unemployment, poverty, juvenile delinquency, crime, drug abuse and poor role models. This can have a negative effect on a child education as they could rebel against school and fall into a pupil subculture. Also, people with more money tend to go to better free schools due to catchment area and can prevent a person from going to a better school. If you look at life chances from a working class perspective, we have to look at the work of Karl Marx. Marx believed that the working class are forced to sell their labour power to the capitalists since they own no means of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Northern of France was ruled under customary laws, but Southern followed Roman laws, and the Roman Catholic Churches had a major role in the government. There are pros and cons in the civil code of Napoleon. An example for pro is that it standardized the laws across France. For example, the church could no longer control secular institutions. Also, judges could not make new laws anymore, only the central government had that power. Hereditary of the nobles and class privileges eliminated. This is the exact opposite of the revolution s definition of equality. The French Revolution failed to achieve both liberty and equality, two major goals of the revolution, and it was part of the slogan of the revolution. Abstract Geert Hofstede is one of many sociologists that studied and emphasized the importance of ethics and culture in an international business environment. Rue Byars described leadership as an ability to influence people and willingly follow one s guidance or adhere to one s decisions (Rue, Byars, 2009).
