Wolves In Canada
This essay will cover 3 main points. The first point is what kind of wolves will you find in
Canada, and a brief description of different names and what they look like. My Second point will
cover what issues wolves are facing in canada today, because wolves are becoming and already
are extinct as i m writing this essay, this point will tell you why they are becoming extinct, and
why it is hard for them to move forward and become larger, and not become extinct. My third point
will cover what important wolveshave to the first nations, including spiritual beliefs and what they
mean to the first nations.
There are few types of wolves that live in canada. The wolves that are left in Canada we should
cherish, because soon they will become so rare, that there population could be whipped out. Firstly
there is the Arctic wolf, which is usually found up North where it is cold in Canada, the Arctic
wolves have beautiful thick white fur. The second wolf that i will tell you about is the grey wolf,
the grey wolf is a more common wolf but none the less gorgeous with its gray and black fur. The
grey wolfs used to roam the united states, but almost all of them were exterminated. Now the grey
wolves habitat is excluded to Canada, Alaska, the Great Lakes, northern Rockies and Pacific
Northwest. The next wolf i ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Container Imbalances And The Context Of The Global Economy
1Container Imbalances in the Context of the Global Economy
1.1Economic Situation of the Shipping Industry
To introduce into the context relevant for the processing of the case, it will firstly be shown which
circumstances shape the industry. It will also be demonstrated how and why the latest economic
developments are influencing the container shipping business and consequently are relevant for the
following work.
As nearly 90% of the worldwide transported goods are moved by ship and 60% of those goods are
containerized , a high dependency of global trade and the demand for container transports can be
detected. Therefore trends like global sourcing coming along with the globalization are highly
influenced by various variables which might for example include the following :
Population growth
Social standards and income
Labor cost
Language and communication
Political and legal aspects
Export figures
Degree of industrialization
Currency fluctuations
Technological developments (e.g. Internet)
Linking the world container volume to the global Real GDP as an indicator for the development
of the overall economy (cf Figure 1), it can be detected that the shipping industry suffered more
dramatically than expected from the worldwide economic crisis in 2008 when the financial
markets crashed . Figure 1: Correlation between Economy and Container Trade (Index 2000: 100;

Market Structures And Pricing Strategies
Market Structures and Pricing Strategies
There are different types of market structures all over the world since business is not done the
same way everywhere. Even within the USA different companies use different pricing strategies
based on the market structures. As a business and as a consumer it is vital to identify and
understand these different types of market structures and their pricing strategies. The ideal type of
market is the one where price and demand are not affected by anything, in other words it is
always consistent. Of course the reality is that markets are affected by different factors, which can
hike up the price for an item or lower it, hence increase demand or decrease it. There are 4 different
types of market structures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the fact that all products are priced at market value, the consumer is more willing to
purchase the item knowing that no one will offer a better price. In a perfect competition market the
goal of the company is to maximize profits by ensuring production cost does not exceed revenues
(calculating how much they can produce without losing money due to cost of production;
MR=MC) and that consumer demands are met. Perfect competition markets are ideal because
they tend to balance themselves out even though they have no barriers of entry (Hillman, 2014).
Even if a company has a short run profit loss due to a period of high entry to market, at a certain
point the revenues will equal market prices. Some companies will see it as a loss and will exit
the market; hence allowing the prices to go back up and profits to be regained. The exiting of the
market stops when every one of the firms remaining breaking even. If the businesses within the
market are enjoying short term profits this will increase entry to market; hence will decrease
output from each company and decrease profits. This activity will end when the price of products
equals total average cost and the economic profits are zero. The perfect competition s long term
outcomes are two: allocative and productive efficiency (Hillman, 2014). Allocative efficiency is
when a company s output equals consumer demand, which eliminates the possibility of deadweight

Genetic Background Of 189 Ssd Lines
In GWBP, the association mapping was conducted on the different genetic background of 189 SSD
lines derived from a natural crossing between 11 parents (CГґte d Or/1 is one of them). The linkage
disequilibrium and population structure of GWBP were described in detail by Sallam and
Martsch (2015). Because Sallam and Martsch (2015) and Sallam et al. (2015a) confirmed that
GWBP has low structure, we assume that GLM model fits with the analysis of association
mapping. However, we presented marker trait association using MLM+K for AUPSC, LTAF,
and LTCF. The results of association analysis revealed that 12 different significant markers were
found to be associated with AUSPC, LTAF, LCAF (Table 3). It was difficult to determine the
contribution of each parent of the GWBP (unlike BPP) because this population was derived
from a natural crossing of 11 parents. However, the number of alleles (for the 12 significant
markers, Table 3) associated with decreased frost stress symptoms in each founder line is
presented in Figure S3A. This number ranged from four alleles inherited from Banner/1 to ten
alleles from L979/1. This indicates that L979/1 is the main source of frost tolerance found in
GWBP. Of 12 alleles, CГґte d Or/1 had eight alleles that were responsible for decreasing the effect
of frost stress. Conversely, for each allele associated with a decrease in frost stress symptoms, the
number of founder lines carrying that allele was determined (Figure S3B). This was done in order to

Black Guerilla Family Gang Case Study
The Black Guerilla Family gang originated in the California prison systems in the 1960s and 30
years later eventually made its way to the prison systems of Maryland and onto the streets of
Baltimore City and Howard County. This organization is considered among the most powerful
gangs in the state, and has been known for its criminal activities in and outside of correctional
facilities. The Black Guerilla Family gangincreased its strength through numbers as they heavily
recruited during the inflow of criminals as they were being processed into the detention centers and
facilities. It was reported that nearly one third of more than 3,000 identified gang members within
the system were affiliated with the Black Guerrilla Family, and they even... Show more content on

A two year collaborative effort between the state and federal authorities, the Baltimore assistant
state s attorneys and assistant U.S. attorneys, the Drug Enforcement Administration agents and
corrections officials and the city police adopted a networking agenda, to bring this case together.
These different entities knew that in order to gather information on this organization that would
help bring down this criminal empire, advanced technology such as wiretaps, surveillance and
surveillance cameras, informants, cell phone sniffing dogs, body orifice scanners, improved gang
intelligence, adopted new regulations that subject potential employees to expanded background
checks and exhausted countless man hours to target the Black Guerilla Family organization as they
attempted to keep contraband out of the facilities and incarcerate all members of the Black Guerilla
organization. Since the state lacked a racketeering statute, Maryland beefed up its anti gang statute
and had made dismantling gangs a focus, hiring three prosecutors in 2009, who were solely
dedicated to prosecuting gang members.

foods for many years. Most of the people consider that GMO has more advantages than
disadvantages. However, the disadvantages are more compared to advantages. So, how does
GMO effect people s life and environment? What are the disadvantages of GMO foods? To answer

The black community is thankful to Atticus because he took time to represnt the case of a black
man, fighting for racism. This is ironic because even though the verdict of the judge was unfair, the
black community still celebrated Atticus, as someone finally stood up for their rights. They thanked
him by sending him hunks of salt pork, tomatoes, beans, even scuppernongs. . This was their way
of showing that they were greatful for the action Atticus took in helping the black community.

Personal Branding
Personal Branding is already conflicting with Company Branding outside the work place. A
middle school teacher was suspended with pay for making remarks about her students on Face

Facebook, 2011). A young man was rejected for a position at Cisco because he tweeted that he had

Clay Shirky writes in her book Cognitive Surplus of a day where HR departments will overlook
small statements against organizations because in the future most everyone will have at least made
one mistake (2010).
Addressing the issue of conflicts in personal branding in the future will rely heavily on the
individual company policies. Middle managers will need to formulate new business and functional
level strategies. For example they will have to establish functional level policy s to allow
employees to communicate personal brands in a business oriented fashion. Middle managers will
also have to implement company level restrictions for issues that may harm the company brand.
Middle management will also have to formulate functional level strategies with the HR department.
These strategies will focus on hiring employees with both character in their personal brands and
talent in their resumes. These strategies will be heavily influenced by both internal factors (the
mission statement and culture of the company) and external factors (the laws, politics, company
opportunities, threats, and environment).
Both middle managers and employees of the future will have high levels of resiliency in order to
compete in such an interconnected world. Employees will have to take on a work life that is never

having social media is superior to all necessities of their lives to add on. Basically, the

ignorance of their blood relationship until the inevitable quarrel caused through class differences
leads to the tragic outcome. In this essay, I will examine how Willy Russell demonstrates class

Contextual Theory Of Interethnic Communication Theory
The distinction of the differences or similarities between the communicator and conversational
partners can influence whether they chose to engage in association or dissociation. These
dissimilarities and resemblances help to shape our perceptions of each other. Through the analysis
of ethnic proximity, ethnic distance, shared goal structure, separate goal structure, and personal
network integration, the situation layerof Kim s Interethnic Theory will be explored.
A Contextual Theory of Interethnic Communication As conceptualized by Young Yun Kim, the
interethnic communication theory describes the multifaceted layers and factors in communication
event. Described as an open system, interethnic communication occurs between communicators and
their interactant(s) who possess characteristic similarities or differences in terms of their ethnic or
identity markers (Kim, 2005). There are four layers to her theory: behavior, communicator,
situation, and environment. All of these layers contribute to how the communicator and their
interactant decides to interact, whether it is associative or dissociative. This paper will focus on the
situation layer. Implanted between the environment and communicator layer, the situation layer
represents the interethnic encounter itself (Kim, 2005, p. 334). Essentially, it is describing the
interaction between the communicator and their conversational partner(s). In this context, the
communication can take form in many ways (e.g., verbal,

Advantages Of Crowdfunding
Crowdfunding and the gaming industry
The video games have been marked with a considerable advancement since its first introduction in
1970s. Emergence of the modern technology and social networks has enabled games to expand and
explore new means and forms of its application (http://www.statista.com/topics/868/video games/ ).
The crowdfunding has gained a lot of popularity over the years, especially in the gaming
community. Not only is the industry perceived as one of the most innovative and forward looking
categories, it also connects people with a specific mind set and an excessive enthusiasm towards it.
Moreover, this community has a common interest which is closely linked with a technological
element and thus the users tend to have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as other campaigns, games benefit from the same advantages of crowdfunding. There are in
particular three major reasons, why is crowdfunding useful for this industry. Firstly, the fact that
crowdfunding enables the funders to considerably lower their costs is one of the main luring
factors. It is a matter of fact that a development of games is a very expensive business. Moreover,
since the gaming industry has evolved and grown over the time, so has done the customersВґ
expectations. The extent and complexity of their demands has escalated significantly, resulting in
higher costs of game production (http://www.crowdsourcing.org/editorial/the rise of crowdfunding
and crowdsourcing in the video game sector/52239 ). In fact, the global gaming software
expenditure represents an enormous amount of $51, 13 billion (http://www.statista.com/topics/868

afford such expenditures and have been pushed out of the market. Crowdfunding allows these small
ventures to access additional funds and therefore, it helps them to transform their unique ideas into
a reality and launch the products successfully on the

Ice Man Essay
Ice man
Have you ever been treated unfairly? Have you ever been treated like you have no rights at all?
Most people have, but few of them have been treated as badly as Victor and his friends were in Ice
Man written by Elmore Leonard, just because they are Native Americans.
Ice Man is fiction. In Ice Man the narrator is an unknown 3rd person narrator. He does not enter
the characters minds, he only tells us what they say and what they do. And therefore he must be a
person that does not take part in the actual scene, but he must be there. Because he is a 3rd person
narrator, his opinions are objective and therefore trustworthy.
Victor is one of the main characters in Ice Man . Victor is an Indian, or you may call it a Native...

But in the way Victor answers, This is what it s about, my age? on page 4 line 4, you can tell that
Victor did not believe that ICE Man came to him because of his age, but instead because of his race.
Victor is very proud of being an Indian or Native American, and that is why he always answers
ICE Man back, because he feels like he is being offended and treated unfairly. Page 5 lines 10 11,
Bring them all here to sit with their rifles, Victorio, Cochise, Geronimo.... Those guys doing
whatever they wanted , tells us that Victor looks back at the days, when the Indian chiefs could do
whatever they wanted and were not tied down by any laws.
ICE Man s real name is Darryl Harris and the ICE in ICE Man stands for Immigration and
Customs enforcement. His job is to control whether immigrants have immigrated illegally or
legally. In many ways ICE Man appears racist. He compares the Indians to other coloured people
and says they all look pretty much the same. He also feels kind of supercilious. Page 4 lines 16
17, The bulls buck any, or they too old? I can cite you now for tryin to bribe an officer of the law.
This is one of the situations where ICE Man feels supercilious, because he thinks that Victor is
bribing him, but he actually just shows ICE Man the money he had won in the contest. ICE Man
in general is a racist, multiple times he calls them Red nigger , and he sees nothing wrong with
arresting Victor and his friends just because of their race,

The teacher in the article, Pritti Mistry, discovered that children in her classes loved to paint. She
also noticed that children for some reason often chose the color red. After observing this for some
time, Mrs. Mistry brought in a bunch of red object to show her students. She then asked the
students to come up with a name for every different shade of the color red that they found in the
objects. However, this activity did not just stay in the classroom for long. The students eventually
wanted to look for red objects when they went outside, or when they left the school and went to
their homes. After a while, the students started mixing different color paints to try and recreate the
shades of red they saw. Through the mixing of the different colors the students were able to
discover texture. By mixing the paints on the canvas the different amounts of layers created
different textures.
Eventually, the students got tired of the color red, hey asked the teacher if she had any pink paint.
She told them to experiment with the other colors and see if they could figure out how to mix the
colors to make red. The students discovered very fast that it was white and red. To help the students
learn the shades of pink Mrs. Mistry took her class on a walk outside. The students all had
different names for the different shades some combined other colors and pink, like purplish pink,
others just said light or dark pink.

Was England Torn Apart by Religious Revolution in the...
The short yet significant reign of Edward bought with it a series of severe changes to England and
all those within it, many of them taking a religious nature. As the once unquestionable authority of
the church became challenged by both critics and affiliates alike, England witnessed an almost
inevitable reformation. However, the impact on the majority was not necessarily beneficial as
Duffy wrote, the Reformation bought with it an assault on traditional religion , leaving many men
that breathed easier for the accession of a Catholic queen .
It is possible to perceive that England was torn apart by religious revolution as a consequence of the

Catholic leaders believed they were defending traditional Christian civilization against rebellions
and anarchical forces, whilst the latter argued they were restoring pure religion and defending
against corruption and superstition. To them, the Pope was anti Christ, whilst to the Catholics,
Luther, Alvin and all other reformers were heretics. Consequently, the secular rulers sought to base
their political unity upon that of a religious nature, using their authority to compel their subjects
into adopting one form of Christianity. In contrast to Pope Leo X, who face the Lutheran revolt,
who urged secular leaders to suppress Protestant heretics by force, Luther appealed for this same
force to be used against Catholics, and even Calvin, considered to be an apostle of religious
tolerance didn t permit Catholics to reside in Geneva. Meanwhile, Spain, Portugal and Italy all used
methods such as the Inquisition and the Index to eliminate religious dissent and persecute
Protestant subjects. Therefore, this shows that despite the argument regarding whether England
was torn apart , the rest of Europe was considerably so, which could subsequently have impacted
England.
However, religious revolution in England could also be viewed as beneficial, in particular to the
economy. Throughout Europe, Princes and landlords, eager to the receive sources of new wealth,

Alcohol has been the lifeblood of civilization dating thousands of years back in time, and it is clear

In American culture especially, drinking is seen as a rite of passage or assimilation into
adulthood. Young people in many cultures are introduced to drinking early in life, as a normal
part of daily living. Whereas in America, drinking at a young age is looked down upon, the
reverse is true in societies that maintain the best moderate drinking practices. The idea of a
minimum as before someone should be protected from alcohol is alien in China and France.
Children learn to drink early in Zambia by taking small quantities when they are sent to buy beer;
children in France, Italy, and Spain are routinely given wine as part of a meal or celebration. In the
United States, the legal age to drink varies dramatically form others around the world but is still

drinking can be seen as a routine way of assimilating a youth into their respective culture s social
customs.
The relationship between alcoholic beverages and religion goes back thousands of years. The use
of wine is at the heart of many Christian Religions and important Jewish ceremonies are marked

How Cool Is Interpreted By Black Jazz
This essay will identify and examine what cool is and the ways in which the notion of cool is
interpreted, reflected and exploited in the entertainment business. Each of these areas will be
addressed individually. The early meanings of cool were described primarily as anti caring, pro
drug and anti authority. The notion of cool originates from a slang used by black jazz musicians
and within the last 30 years; the term cool has evolved towards a subculture and the concept of
cool is mainly related to today s youth culture (Runyan, Noh Mosier 2013, p. 323). It is used to
identify something as up to date, stylish or innovative. Thus, based on a persons emotions or
feelings about objects or ideas and if we relate it to people, cool becomes more ephemeral; a
status of sorts (Hamley 2014). Researchers discovered that the dominant perception of coolness
is revolving around social desirability and generic semi gentrified traits (Nye 2012). The notion
of cool is frequently changing and it is not developed by a personality trait, more a group
perception (Gerber 2012). The term cool is often used in marketing to young consumers. Their
buying behaviours can affect the success or failure of a new business (Runyan, Noh Mosier 2013,
p. 326). Businesses often express autonomy through advertising headlines and slogans: Stereosonic
( Summer is coming ), Apple ( Think Different ) and Disneyland ( The happiest place on earth )
because young consumers have a desire to enhance

The moral standards approach is the approach that focuses on three dimensions of the impact of
the proposed action: (1) whether it provides a net benefit to society; (2) whether it is fair to all
stakeholders; and (3) whether it is right. The moral standards approach was developed by
Professor Manuel Velasquez in 1992. Although some overlap some of the first approach, the focus
is less company centred, and is better suited for the evaluation of the decisions where stakeholders
are the ones who are impacted, outside the company is most likely to be severe. And the long term

Differences Between An Imperative Programming Language And...
Describe the differences between an imperative programming language and a non imperative
programming language. Imperative languages are based on the sequential execution of instructions
that direct the computer system what steps to take in order to come up with a solution to a
problem. This is achieved by the programmer setting states, such as assigning data to memory,
altering states, and controlling the sequence of instructions (University of the People, n.d.). In order
to achieve this, the programmer must have a complete plan of the process the computer will use
achieve a solution. Issues that can arise with imperative languages are side effects caused by the
status of states being altered in some unintentional fashion because the computer is executing the
instructions, as outlined, by the programmer. In non imperative languages, the necessity of
controlling the sequence of execution is less important. Attention in the language is instead
focused on what data is needed, what the problem is, and what result output you are looking for.
The programmer needs to be able to define the problem and result for which they are seeking a
solution, but the computer decides, based on built in functions of the language, how to return the
solution to the problem. As no states are altered as part of non imperative languages programs,
there are no issues with side effects (University of the People, n.d.). Discuss an example of where
you would use an imperative language and a situation

Unlike Many Poets Around The World, Gerard Manley Hopkins
Unlike many poets around the world, Gerard Manley Hopkins follows a very unique style of
poetry. Instead of using the same old style of writing that every poet uses, Gerard created his own
way to express his thoughts and feelings. Using a unique method, Gerard could write poems that
became extremely popular starting in the late nineteenth century. In Gerard s The Windhover, he
uses various symbols, rhetorical devices, and strategies to help support his thoughts and to help
strengthen his argument that something like a bird, that one sees every day, could be totally, mind
blowingly amazing if looked at the correct way. Throughout the poem, Hopkins is describing a

Buckle is the verb in the previous sentence, which is either a fastening such as of a belt, or when
something collapses all at once, such as the buckling of the knees. In either definition, a
unification takes place. With this unification, a fire occurs, which is like the crucifixion of
Christ, though not as grave. Along with the beautiful descriptions Hopkins illustrates this poem
with is the structure of the poem itself. First, this poem is identified as a Petrarchan sonnet,
where the fourteen lines are split into an octet with eight lines and a sestet with six lines. These
types of sonnets are usually structured with the octet presenting some sort of problem and the
sestet offering a solution to that problem. The rhyme scheme of a Petrarchan sonnet rhymes:
ABBA ABBA CDE CDE. However, Hopkins decided to use the pattern CDC CDC instead of
CDE CDE. Starting at the beginning of the poem and looking at the end of each line, all the A s
are king, wing, swing, and thing. All the B s are riding, striding, gliding, and hiding. Hopkins
uses the word kingdom in the first line but then spreads the second part of the word to the second
line to create king rhyming with A s scheme. If looked at closer, the B rhymes almost rhyme with
the A rhymes, however, all the B sounds end in ing. This use of ing with the B rhymes help
identify that the bird is in the air right now. In the sestet, the rhyme scheme is easier to

How Technological Warfare Could Not Be Considered The...
Technological warfare might not be considered the fairest of them all, especially not in this era of
warfare advances. Multiple technological advances have been made, and many of them have been
made for the purpose of war. A very common technological advance in relation to war is guns, but
there is no gun like the CIA s (Central Intelligence Agency) 1970 s Heart Attack Gun. According to
Kurt Nimmo of Info Wars, at the point when the heart assault firearm is shot at an individual, the
fatal poison from the bullet rapidly enters the circulatory system causing a myocardial infarction.
The toxic substance denatures rapidly, so a post mortem is unable to determine the cause of the
cardiac arrest. The dart from this complex CIA weapon can penetrate garments and leave only a
small red spot on the skin, like that of a mosquito bite. The toxic dart disintegrates to its aggregate
in the wake of entering the target. We all know what the purpose of a firearm is, even on the
battlefield, but imagine being able to play war off of the battlefield and without arising suspicion.
Imagine taking out your enemy without having to be held accountable for it. Well those are the
implications of a gun with this much power. Now, moving forward to yet another militaryrate

Using A Microscope And View Living Cells
Using a microscope to view living cells
Introduction
Living cells are the most basic unit of life, however, they are impossible to see without the
magnification of a microscope. There are different types of microscopes with alterations to serve a
specific function, but the general use is the same. It is a tool invented with a curved lense that
magnifies things that cannot be seen with the naked eye. A microscopecan be used to see many
things, in this particular lab they were used to observe cells of different organisms. We began by
looking at a few sample slides of euglena, salmonella, and lilium and recording our observations.
Then we created the slides ourselves with living matter. The first set of cells that we looked at
were onion cells, which we looked at by gathering a sample of onion epidermis from one of the
onion s layers and creating a slide to be placed on the stage of the microscope. Next, we took a
look at human cheek cells by obtaining a sample and again creating a slide by swabbing the inside
of a mouth with a toothpick. Finally, we looked at pond water by creating a slide with a small
amount that was collected in a dropper.
Purpose
The purpose of this lab was to gain more knowledge on the use of lab equipment, focusing
principally on the microscope by observing a variety of cells underneath its magnifying lense at
different levels of objective power and recording those observations.

Poverty On Poverty
Impacts of Poverty on Single Mothers
Poverty happens everywhere around the world and most people think that getting to that point
would never happen to them. Women who are single moms get hit the most. A man s standard
living after leaving his kid and significant other rises 10%, while a woman s standard of living
drops 27%. Most people that are single mothers or even single parents in general suffer the most
and can t afford any type of insurance and have to somehow afford even a house. Because of the
amount of people who can t afford health insurance, 18,000 americans die because of the lack of
health insurance they can t afford. Poverty happens everywhere in the world and these three single
mothers had a difficult time and had to struggle for what they wanted.
Jean is a 51 year old certified nursing assistant who is a single mother also. She has three kids but
had to take in two more because of the children s living conditions and two more because of her
daughters kids. She protests that even after 14 years of working at the same place she still
makes only $11 an hour. The annual salary that a nursing assistant may get is $26,590, which
could or couldn t include benefits. Even though Jean is helping people and needs a ton of
training in this area, she still makes less than a garbage worker makes. Even with the low paying,
the job becomes very depressing because the workers are repeatedly working long hours doing the
same thing and it soon becomes depressing working on

Pros And Cons Of Raising The Driving Age Of 18
The current driving age of sixteen is implemented in almost every state in the United States.
Most states have become accustomed to the current driving age, but recently there are certain
states that believe that the legal driving age should be raised due to various reasons. The main
argument for most states is that sixteen year old s are not mature enough and lack the
preparation to handle the responsibility to drive safely. Teenagers under the age of eighteen
should be required to wait longer to get their license and should be more prepared before getting
their license. Raising the age was not an idea based on opinions. Over the years many people
and organizations have recorded facts and statistics to support their claims. An example shown
on CBS News, shows that More than 5,000 U.S. teens die each year in car crashes. The rate of
crashes, fatal and nonfatal, per mile driven for 16 year old drivers is almost 10 times the rate for
drivers ages 30 to 59, according to the National Highway Safety Administration (CBS NEWS). One
huge influence on the topic was the Insurance Institutes for Highway Safety, they created a
seventeen page memo filled with statistics and examples of how raising the age is a necessity. This
is not the first attempt to use statistics to support the appeal to raise the age. The Seattle Times
states, The example the institute uses most prominently is New Jersey, the only state with a
minimum driver s licenseage of 17. The report cited a study from 1992 96 in which the rate of
crash related deaths among 16 and 17 year olds was 18 per 100,000 in New Jersey, compared
with 26 per 100,000 in Connecticut, which had a minimum driver s license age of 16 and 4 months
(Willette). Overall the argument that raising the age will result in less teen deaths while drivingis
highly justified. There are frequent examples and a huge amount of research that proves that
younger drivers are more likely to cause harm or damage than an older, more experienced driver.
One crucial evidence used in the case to raise the driving age is the mental stage teenagers are in
at this age. Teen brains at sixteen aren t as developed as an eighteen year old brain. This is
showcased in a study on the Chicago Tribune that

Research Paper On Catcher In The Rye
Summer Reading Project 2017 Ali Mithavayani The Catcher in the Rye 1.SETTING Visitations
New York City Although The Catcher in the Rye begins in the fictional town of Agerstown,
Pennsylvania, at the equally fictional Pencey Prep, most of the book takes place in the 1940s,
where Holden goes to rest in a hotel before returning home, and ends up wandering around
midtown for three days. The affluent Manhattan he encounters reflects the post war scene, with
New York the unquestionable center of finance and trade. At night, the city s music clubs and
bars are packed with people: New Yorkers, visitors, college kids, etc. By day, Holden takes us to
some of city s most famous landmarks. Grand Central Station is the largest train station in the
world (by number of platforms: 67). Although slated for improvement in the 1960s, Grand
Central was saved and has recently been renovated into a hub for fine dining and expensive
shopping. I would like to visit this place for the scenery and for the lifestyle. I would rather live
a fast pace life rather than a relaxing quiet lifes. As for the scenery, New York is filled with many
astonishing landmarks, as well as the cities around New York. Living in New York is challenging
on your own, and I feel that if you aren t tough on the outside you would have an unfortunate
outcome, that is why Holden was easily adjusted to the lifestyle. 2.PLOT The End Holden ends the
novel by refusing to say what happened after the carousel other than that

Stylistic Elements In Beowulf
The three stylistic elements I chose were rhythm, kenneling, and alliteration. Rhythmic an element
in major part because of the oral nature of the epic. The rhythm comes form alliterations and not
from usual meter and rhyme. An example of rhythm is, The nobleman s son then passed the steep
rocky cliffs, the narrow path, the narrow single filed path, an unknown way, precipitous headland,
the homes of many water monsters. Alliterations are a repetition of stressed sounds, particularly
consonants from the beginning syllables. An example would be Peter Piper picked a Peck of
Pickled Peppers. Kenning is a two word metaphorical name for something. An example would be
the organ s house which would mean the body.

2.Three important themes present in Beowulf is the idea of good vs. evil, reputation, and the third
and final theme is probably most important is loyalty. The theme of good vs. evil is present in
most books and is present in Beowulf through dragon and demons, but it can also be something not
physically seen. Reputation is one of the most important themes in the story as it follows the Anglo
Saxon way of thinking and is the way for the characters to reach the

Laurie Halse s Chains Quotes
In the book Chains by Laurie Halse, it talks about a girl named Isabel, who was born as a slave.
Isabel has faced many challenges in her life, ranging from her abusive witch like owner Madame
Lockton, to choosing whether to side with Great Britain or America. The old man Isabel calls
grandfather, tells her, Everything that stands between you and freedom is the River Jordan. When
talking about about the River Jordan, her grandfather means that Isabel must overcome her
problems (the River Jordan) to find freedom and escape from the brutality of being a slave. There
are many things that get in the way of Isabel on her quest to freedom, such as Madame Lockton,
choosing sides, finding Ruth, and a potential way Isabel can find freedom. Each... Show more

Her problems could be interpreted as chains trapping and drowning her in her River Jordan. He
[Captain Campbell] couldn t take me. He would not. I was chained between two nations... I was
a ghost tied to the ground not a living soul. (182) This quote shows Isabel is stuck, not knowing
what side to favor. They used a simile comparing Isabel and the two nations to a ghost trapped in
the ground, with Isabel depicted as the ghost. It explained that Isabel is a like ghost trapped in
the ground, not with the British nor the Americans. The glowing iron streaked in front of my
face like a comet... The man pushed the hot metal against my cheek. It hissed and bubbled.
Smoke curled under my nose. They cooked me. (148) This passage clarifies when Isabel gets
branded. This part of the story almost broke Isabel s spirit to fight forward and for freedom. Not
like her usual self, she followed orders received from Madame and rarely thought about Ruth
and her parents. I took a step up. Answer me, you miserable cow. Did you sell my sister? ... She
is only 5 years old. I rose another step. She is a baby and you sold her away from me. (135)
During this section of the story, this would be the first time Isabel ever truly got mad at
Madame, even enough to yell at her with a rude name. This is one of the larger complications
that add more water to Isabel s River Jordan. Ruth was Isabel s only family left, and she sincerely
did care for Ruth, but when Ruth got sold it put Isabel into despair. It was also the cause of
Isabel being branded. But Ruth did. She giggled, a sound like a small silver bell. A bell tolling
disaster. Madam Lockton... pointed her finger at us. Which one of you made that noise? Her face
flushed with rage her eyes darting back and forth between us. I did, ma am, I quickly lied...
Craaack! Lightning struck from a blue sky; Madame near threw me to the ground. This was Isabel

Military Intertextuality
One fundamental principle in discourse analysis is the concept of intertextuality. Julia Kristeva s
coinage of the term, back in 1986, represents an attempt to synthesize Ferdinand de Saussure s
semiotics with Bakhtin s (1981) dialogism and his examination of the multiple meanings, or
heteroglossia , the interrelatedness and existence of language and discourses, by which meaning is
not transferred directly from writer to reader but instead is mediated through, or filtered by codes
imparted to the writer and reader by other texts. It is beyond doubt that military communication
benefits from and even dwells on the conceptof intertextuality, given that the weight and essence of
the ideological concepts inherent in the discourseof the military largely depend on the background
information characteristic to a specific social, political or cultural context.... Show more content on

All construction of meaning and language in discourse, Bakhtin further argues, is influenced by
certain social groups, classes, institutions, organizations and the relationships within them. As a
consequence, the language of the military discourse may lend itself to multiple interpretations and
conceptualizations based on socio cultural contexts or intentions. I argue that the analysis of the
discursive materializations of military communication must take into account the multitude of
meanings that go beyond texts. The concept of intertextuality lies at the foundation of any
investigation that aims at interpreting the cultural meanings of any significant social

Analysis Of Two Lovers And A Beachcomber By Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath and Two Lovers and a Beachcomber by the Real Sea Sylvia Plath, while one of the
best known poets of the 20th century, has diminished in popularity to the modern audience.
Despite this, Plath s work is still poignant today with its self examination of life in the context of
poor mental health and its confessional style that has become a staple of American literature. On
October 27, 1932, Sylvia Plath was born to Aurelia Schober and Otto Plath, both immigrants of
Germanic descent. Although she was born in Boston, Sylvia Plath spent her childhood years in
Winthrop, Massachusetts, a smaller coastal town. Unfortunately, Plath lost her father to diabetes
related complications in November of 1940 at the young age of eight; however, her eighth year
of life also brought her the publication of her first poem in the children s section of The Boston
Herald. Two years later, the Plath family moved to Wellesley, Massachusetts, so her mother could
work at Boston University and support the family. Plath excelled at her school in Wellesley and
began to receive prizes and awards for her writing. Along with her natural intelligence, this
culminated in a personality that her mother described as precocious as well as the development of
perfectionist tendencies that would afflict her significantly later in life (Barnard 15). Similarly,
America s entrance into World War II in 1944 contributed to Sylvia Plath s pessimistic outlook on
human nature. Additionally, as she grew up and

The Venezuela Revolution In Venezuela
Did you know that Venezuela was one of the first colonies to gain their independence from Spain?
At the time Venezuela was a Spanish ruled colony and the people of Venezuela felt that their
government was ruling their colony terribly (Adelblue). The people were led by Simon Bolivar,
whose nickname was The Liberator since he liberated Venezuelaand worked with San Martin to
liberate most of Northern South America (Adelblue). Venezuela declared their independence in
1810 and finally gained their independence after the Battle of Carabobo in 1821 (Minster). Three
symbolic elements of the Venezuelan revolution are used to portray Simon Bolivar, the speech
Simon gave to the Second National Congress in 1819 to encourage the type of government he had
in mind, and the high taxation that was the main cause of the revolution (Ellis and Esler 705). In
the monument to symbolize the Simon Bolivar, we created a statue of him that is being built by
the people of Venezuela that is a representation of how Simon built and liberated the country of
Venezuela (Adelblue). The statue is being built by the people of Venezuela just as Simon built the
country by freeing them and by establishing a strong foundation (Adelblue). The body of the statue
is green to symbolize growth of the country and his pants are blue to symbolize independence.
Simon was the commander of the Venezuelan forces during the successful revolution against Spain
(Martz and Heckler). Simon Bolivar was nicknamed The

The Four Seasons Of The Year !
The four seasons of the year! Love every season. Each season has its own unique feel to the year.
For winter there is cold weather, which means bringing and starting the New Year. Summer, who
doesn t love them hot summer days, eating anything that is cold. Spring, for them raining days,
where the smell of fresh flowers begin to blossom, and grow. Lastly, fall. Fall is when it s time for
the kids to head back to school, or those Saturday night college football games to come on. Every
seasonis meaningful in some way throughout the year and some can t wait for their favorite
season to approach. I know fall is mines, and I know I can t wait either. Winter! Those cold, brisk
days, seeing your breath as you walk outside, that s when you know winter is here. Temperatures
get below 30 s, and the heater is going in every home. The smell of hot chocolate, tea, and coffee
warms the bodies of many cold people. Sometimes if you re lucky, snow will appear, and you
can go outside and make a snowman, and snow angles. The white glistening of the snow fall on
your cheek, as it is silent outside you can hear the calmness of the snow falling from the sky onto
the ground. Attire is different for the season also. Hats, scarfs, jackets, and boots are in order for
the winter. The favorite part about winter is you knew Christmas was coming! The excitement of
knowing you re going to wake up early at 6 a.m. and there would be freshly wrapped presents
under the light, bright Christmas tree you help

The Allende Governance A New Governance Essay
After the fall of the Allende governance a new governance was applied which led to rise of free
market economy through the use of different reforms like privatization and deregulation. With
low level of understanding in economics Pinochet hired economists who were tasked with
freeing the economy from the previous destruction caused by socialists. According to De Haan
by 1970 Chile recorded least freedom in its economy (De Haan et al 220). But later the economy
started experiencing major growth from 1980s which increased economic growth from7.2 percent
compared to other countries in South America. While the country economic progress has received
international recognition, their development hasn t been easy as it has faced major critical
moments to their economic success. For example during the 1982 recession the gross domestic
product dropped by 14.1 % which resulted to overvaluation of their currency which made the
currency more vulnerable to harsh changes in international economy. This changes led to decrease
in capital which decreased availability of finance meant to finance investments. According to
Buchi this led to an increase in unemployment by 23% and decrease in salaries and wages by over
10% (Buchi 10). Years later Chile has been able to experience economic growth especially in the
1980s compared with other countries in South America who underwent similar crises. This success
has been achieved through the application of crisis management process which had affected

Recent studies, for example, Golder, Wilkinson and Huberman (2007), Arvanitis and Loukis (in
press) and Coyle and Vaughn (2008:13в€’17) concur that social networks are typical
characterisations of human behaviour to fulfil the need to communicate and connect with people
they know, meet new people who share a common interest, collaborate, participate and share
information and knowledge as well as gain new knowledge. Generally, these are also the reasons
why individuals engage in social behaviour via the Internet. To many, the Internet provides effective
social networking opportunities and their online behaviour includes building individual
relationships, expanding their personal network of friends, finding people who have had similar
experiences, discussing common topics of interest, dating and finding potential life partners, staying
connected to old friends or distant family and virtually meeting peers, including work colleagues, to
discuss current issues or topics of interest.

Parapsychic Abilities Research Paper
If I could pick one superhuman ability, I would pick the ability to be parapsychic. Having psychic
abilities does it all: psychokinesis, telepathy, clairvoyance and precognition.
I would have endless, infinite knowledge. I would be able to breach human conscience and delve
deep into the pits of human thinking. I could harbour the entirety of human intelligence into my
own little mind. Maybe this foreshadows imminent doom. But I cannot help but be tempted by all
these what ifs . What if I knew all the most powerful secrets of the world? What if I could move
human relationships, for better or for worse, with just a single word?
People say knowledge is power but with great power comes greater responsibility. I could stop
wars with this ability, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would hold the lives of billions in my hands, and I could crush those lives with the slightest
twitch. That sheer power is so distant, it is almost unimaginable. For to have all the knowledge
of the world would mean to be like God, would it not? I could be benign, or I could be cruel, and
absolutely nothing could stand in my way. That absolute freedom of will is what attracts me, what
drives me to choose this ability. I could be anyone, do anything.
But I would not be free from conscience. Would conscience allow me to execute these selfish
pleasures? These unthinkable deeds? I take back what I said, for conscience of mind is the
highest power. It masters all, and all minds suffer great pain at the caprice of this thing. And if I
were to have all these powers, yet have nothing at the same time no purpose, no love, what good
would these powers do me?
So with these powers I would enjoy life s little gifts. Enjoy the humour presented to me by the
oblivious ignorance of those around. Play small games on people, watch them go around in circles,
confused, then return to their usual routine of stupefaction. I could do harm to mankind, yet I
would not. I would choose to live out my days in obscur

Dracula Influences
Dracula: Influences of the Present and Past
Vampires are not completely fictional. In the late 1890s Bram Stoker takes historical information
and old European folktales to create famous Gothic novels like Dracula; Before writing Dracula,
he studied for eight years stories of vampires. The title of Stoker s story has historical significance
to Vlad Dracul III, a Wallachian ruler who impaled his victims on stakes. Bram Stokeralso was
influenced by his lifetime, before the publication of Dracula, Gothic and Epistolary novels were on
the rise consequently why Dracula is classified as both. Stoker s novels show his ideals as well
as views on social and political reforms during the Victorian era. Moreover, the threats of female
sexuality plagued Victorian anxieties, morals were being questioned. At this time, Victorians were
believed to be morally progressing and can now be seen as a more prudish time. During this time
book publishers often altered words that might be inappropriate. Bram Stoker s Dracula establishes
the seminal view of vampires that has been modified throughout the ages to the now idealized
vampire.
In Bram Stoker s novel, he creates the first ideal look of a vampire. At the beginning of the story,
Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania to go the Count s castle on business. Jonathan along the
way has strange encounters with townspeople about where he is traveling. Stoker early in the book
draws from our reference of the now traditional vampire and states in

The Language Of An Organization Essay
An association without a language specifically used for communicating is unfathomable. Workers
in an organization utilize language to express and empathize with others opinions, maintain
communication, take care of issues, learn and develop, decide, and monitor records. As the
globalization of business has made corporations and organizations with outposts throughout the
world, language boundaries have developed into many different issues that would have gone
unnoticed on account of domestic organizations, where representatives impart in their primary
language. Given this globalized business environment, it is crucial for multinational corporations to
devise a primarily spoken language. Throughout most of the world, that primary language used in
companies and business is English.
English is a lingua franca, or a common or bridge language as it is often called. Bridge languages
are primarily spoken languages across the world: English, Chinese Mandarin, German, etc.
English is the most prominent language spoken, having 1.5 billion speakers across the world
according to Statista, and Mandarin, the secondary language, has a measly 1.1 billion. This
major difference in speakers has developed the use of English as a major language in trade.
Many companies are undergoing a process termed Englishization which is the process of making
one s company soley process in English. This process is used by companies seeking to join the
global market, and has been used to create a

Activation Rate Law
Abstract. The objective of this work was to determine the activation energy and rate law for the
reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium shot. An analysis of the reaction s initial rate at
varying molarities of hydrochloric acid and masses of magnesium shot, along with the method of
initial rates was used to determine the rate law for the reaction; rate = k (SA of Mg)a [H+]b. It was
hypothesized that the reaction would be second order overall. After determining the rate law, the
activation energy was determined by changing the temperature at which the reaction took place.
Using the rate constants calculated at the two different temperatures, the activation energy was
calculated. It was found, experimentally through the method of... Show more content on

One of the biggest sources of error was letting some of the hydrogen gas escape during the
reaction because the cap of the pressure probe could not be placed on top of the flask quick
enough. Not being able to measure all of the change in pressure resulted in a lower rate law
because the graph of pressure versus time had a smaller slope. In future experiments, a system in
which the reactants could be mixed with the pressure probe already in place would yield much
more accurate results because the change in pressure would be higher which would cause the
initial rate to be larger. Another source of error in the experiment was keeping the temperature of
the trial in the ice bath consistent. If the temperature of the HCl changed from when it was
measure to when the reaction took place, the activation energy calculations would have had
increased error. Because the HCl was still sitting in the ice bath, if the actual temperature was
colder that what we calculated, the activation energy would have been lowered. For future
experiments, the temperature of the HCl should be recorded as soon to when the Mg shot is added
as possible, or the experiment could be run in a temperature controlled

  • 3. Container Imbalances And The Context Of The Global Economy 1Container Imbalances in the Context of the Global Economy 1.1Economic Situation of the Shipping Industry To introduce into the context relevant for the processing of the case, it will firstly be shown which circumstances shape the industry. It will also be demonstrated how and why the latest economic developments are influencing the container shipping business and consequently are relevant for the following work. As nearly 90% of the worldwide transported goods are moved by ship and 60% of those goods are containerized , a high dependency of global trade and the demand for container transports can be detected. Therefore trends like global sourcing coming along with the globalization are highly influenced by various variables which might for example include the following : Population growth Social standards and income Labor cost Language and communication Political and legal aspects Export figures Degree of industrialization Currency fluctuations Technological developments (e.g. Internet) Linking the world container volume to the global Real GDP as an indicator for the development of the overall economy (cf Figure 1), it can be detected that the shipping industry suffered more dramatically than expected from the worldwide economic crisis in 2008 when the financial markets crashed . • 4. Market Structures And Pricing Strategies Market Structures and Pricing Strategies There are different types of market structures all over the world since business is not done the same way everywhere. Even within the USA different companies use different pricing strategies based on the market structures. As a business and as a consumer it is vital to identify and understand these different types of market structures and their pricing strategies. The ideal type of market is the one where price and demand are not affected by anything, in other words it is always consistent. Of course the reality is that markets are affected by different factors, which can hike up the price for an item or lower it, hence increase demand or decrease it. There are 4 different types of market structures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the fact that all products are priced at market value, the consumer is more willing to purchase the item knowing that no one will offer a better price. In a perfect competition market the goal of the company is to maximize profits by ensuring production cost does not exceed revenues (calculating how much they can produce without losing money due to cost of production; MR=MC) and that consumer demands are met. Perfect competition markets are ideal because they tend to balance themselves out even though they have no barriers of entry (Hillman, 2014). Even if a company has a short run profit loss due to a period of high entry to market, at a certain point the revenues will equal market prices. Some companies will see it as a loss and will exit the market; hence allowing the prices to go back up and profits to be regained. The exiting of the market stops when every one of the firms remaining breaking even. If the businesses within the market are enjoying short term profits this will increase entry to market; hence will decrease output from each company and decrease profits. This activity will end when the price of products equals total average cost and the economic profits are zero. The perfect competition s long term outcomes are two: allocative and productive efficiency (Hillman, 2014). Allocative efficiency is when a company s output equals consumer demand, which eliminates the possibility of deadweight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Genetic Background Of 189 Ssd Lines In GWBP, the association mapping was conducted on the different genetic background of 189 SSD lines derived from a natural crossing between 11 parents (CГґte d Or/1 is one of them). The linkage disequilibrium and population structure of GWBP were described in detail by Sallam and Martsch (2015). Because Sallam and Martsch (2015) and Sallam et al. (2015a) confirmed that GWBP has low structure, we assume that GLM model fits with the analysis of association mapping. However, we presented marker trait association using MLM+K for AUPSC, LTAF, and LTCF. The results of association analysis revealed that 12 different significant markers were found to be associated with AUSPC, LTAF, LCAF (Table 3). It was difficult to determine the contribution of each parent of the GWBP (unlike BPP) because this population was derived from a natural crossing of 11 parents. However, the number of alleles (for the 12 significant markers, Table 3) associated with decreased frost stress symptoms in each founder line is presented in Figure S3A. This number ranged from four alleles inherited from Banner/1 to ten alleles from L979/1. This indicates that L979/1 is the main source of frost tolerance found in GWBP. Of 12 alleles, CГґte d Or/1 had eight alleles that were responsible for decreasing the effect of frost stress. Conversely, for each allele associated with a decrease in frost stress symptoms, the number of founder lines carrying that allele was determined (Figure S3B). This was done in order to ... A two year collaborative effort between the state and federal authorities, the Baltimore assistant state s attorneys and assistant U.S. attorneys, the Drug Enforcement Administration agents and corrections officials and the city police adopted a networking agenda, to bring this case together. Since the state lacked a racketeering statute, Maryland beefed up its anti gang statute and had made dismantling gangs a focus, hiring three prosecutors in 2009, who were solely dedicated to prosecuting gang members. Contextual Theory Of Interethnic Communication Theory The distinction of the differences or similarities between the communicator and conversational partners can influence whether they chose to engage in association or dissociation. These dissimilarities and resemblances help to shape our perceptions of each other. Through the analysis of ethnic proximity, ethnic distance, shared goal structure, separate goal structure, and personal network integration, the situation layerof Kim s Interethnic Theory will be explored. A Contextual Theory of Interethnic Communication As conceptualized by Young Yun Kim, the interethnic communication theory describes the multifaceted layers and factors in communication event. Described as an open system, interethnic communication occurs between communicators and their interactant(s) who possess characteristic similarities or differences in terms of their ethnic or identity markers (Kim, 2005). There are four layers to her theory: behavior, communicator, situation, and environment. All of these layers contribute to how the communicator and their interactant decides to interact, whether it is associative or dissociative. This paper will focus on the situation layer. Implanted between the environment and communicator layer, the situation layer represents the interethnic encounter itself (Kim, 2005, p. 334). Essentially, it is describing the interaction between the communicator and their conversational partner(s). In this context, the communication can take form in many ways (e.g., verbal, ... • 30. How Cool Is Interpreted By Black Jazz This essay will identify and examine what cool is and the ways in which the notion of cool is interpreted, reflected and exploited in the entertainment business. Each of these areas will be addressed individually. The early meanings of cool were described primarily as anti caring, pro drug and anti authority. The notion of cool originates from a slang used by black jazz musicians and within the last 30 years; the term cool has evolved towards a subculture and the concept of cool is mainly related to today s youth culture (Runyan, Noh Mosier 2013, p. 323). It is used to identify something as up to date, stylish or innovative. Thus, based on a persons emotions or feelings about objects or ideas and if we relate it to people, cool becomes more ephemeral; a status of sorts (Hamley 2014). Researchers discovered that the dominant perception of coolness is revolving around social desirability and generic semi gentrified traits (Nye 2012). The notion of cool is frequently changing and it is not developed by a personality trait, more a group perception (Gerber 2012). The term cool is often used in marketing to young consumers. Their buying behaviours can affect the success or failure of a new business (Runyan, Noh Mosier 2013, p. 326). Businesses often express autonomy through advertising headlines and slogans: Stereosonic ( Summer is coming ), Apple ( Think Different ) and Disneyland ( The happiest place on earth ) because young consumers have a desire to enhance ... • 34. Differences Between An Imperative Programming Language And... Describe the differences between an imperative programming language and a non imperative programming language. Imperative languages are based on the sequential execution of instructions that direct the computer system what steps to take in order to come up with a solution to a problem. This is achieved by the programmer setting states, such as assigning data to memory, altering states, and controlling the sequence of instructions (University of the People, n.d.). In order to achieve this, the programmer must have a complete plan of the process the computer will use achieve a solution. Issues that can arise with imperative languages are side effects caused by the status of states being altered in some unintentional fashion because the computer is executing the instructions, as outlined, by the programmer. In non imperative languages, the necessity of controlling the sequence of execution is less important. Attention in the language is instead focused on what data is needed, what the problem is, and what result output you are looking for. The programmer needs to be able to define the problem and result for which they are seeking a solution, but the computer decides, based on built in functions of the language, how to return the solution to the problem. As no states are altered as part of non imperative languages programs, there are no issues with side effects (University of the People, n.d.). Along with the beautiful descriptions Hopkins illustrates this poem with is the structure of the poem itself. First, this poem is identified as a Petrarchan sonnet, where the fourteen lines are split into an octet with eight lines and a sestet with six lines. These types of sonnets are usually structured with the octet presenting some sort of problem and the sestet offering a solution to that problem. The rhyme scheme of a Petrarchan sonnet rhymes: ABBA ABBA CDE CDE. However, Hopkins decided to use the pattern CDC CDC instead of CDE CDE. Starting at the beginning of the poem and looking at the end of each line, all the A s are king, wing, swing, and thing. All the B s are riding, striding, gliding, and hiding. Hopkins uses the word kingdom in the first line but then spreads the second part of the word to the second line to create king rhyming with A s scheme. • 38. How Technological Warfare Could Not Be Considered The... Technological warfare might not be considered the fairest of them all, especially not in this era of warfare advances. Multiple technological advances have been made, and many of them have been made for the purpose of war. A very common technological advance in relation to war is guns, but there is no gun like the CIA s (Central Intelligence Agency) 1970 s Heart Attack Gun. According to Kurt Nimmo of Info Wars, at the point when the heart assault firearm is shot at an individual, the fatal poison from the bullet rapidly enters the circulatory system causing a myocardial infarction. The toxic substance denatures rapidly, so a post mortem is unable to determine the cause of the cardiac arrest. The dart from this complex CIA weapon can penetrate garments and leave only a small red spot on the skin, like that of a mosquito bite. The toxic dart disintegrates to its aggregate in the wake of entering the target. We all know what the purpose of a firearm is, even on the battlefield, but imagine being able to play war off of the battlefield and without arising suspicion. Imagine taking out your enemy without having to be held accountable for it. Well those are the implications of a gun with this much power. Now, moving forward to yet another militaryrate weapon advancement in technological warfare. Using A Microscope And View Living Cells Using a microscope to view living cells Introduction Living cells are the most basic unit of life, however, they are impossible to see without the magnification of a microscope. There are different types of microscopes with alterations to serve a specific function, but the general use is the same. It is a tool invented with a curved lense that magnifies things that cannot be seen with the naked eye. A microscopecan be used to see many things, in this particular lab they were used to observe cells of different organisms. We began by looking at a few sample slides of euglena, salmonella, and lilium and recording our observations. Then we created the slides ourselves with living matter. The first set of cells that we looked at were onion cells, which we looked at by gathering a sample of onion epidermis from one of the onion s layers and creating a slide to be placed on the stage of the microscope. Next, we took a look at human cheek cells by obtaining a sample and again creating a slide by swabbing the inside of a mouth with a toothpick. Finally, we looked at pond water by creating a slide with a small amount that was collected in a dropper. Purpose The purpose of this lab was to gain more knowledge on the use of lab equipment, focusing principally on the microscope by observing a variety of cells underneath its magnifying lense at different levels of objective power and recording those observations. • 42. Pros And Cons Of Raising The Driving Age Of 18 The current driving age of sixteen is implemented in almost every state in the United States. Most states have become accustomed to the current driving age, but recently there are certain states that believe that the legal driving age should be raised due to various reasons. The main argument for most states is that sixteen year old s are not mature enough and lack the preparation to handle the responsibility to drive safely. Teenagers under the age of eighteen should be required to wait longer to get their license and should be more prepared before getting their license. Raising the age was not an idea based on opinions. Over the years many people and organizations have recorded facts and statistics to support their claims. An example shown on CBS News, shows that More than 5,000 U.S. teens die each year in car crashes. The rate of crashes, fatal and nonfatal, per mile driven for 16 year old drivers is almost 10 times the rate for drivers ages 30 to 59, according to the National Highway Safety Administration (CBS NEWS). One huge influence on the topic was the Insurance Institutes for Highway Safety, they created a seventeen page memo filled with statistics and examples of how raising the age is a necessity. This is not the first attempt to use statistics to support the appeal to raise the age. The Seattle Times states, The example the institute uses most prominently is New Jersey, the only state with a minimum driver s licenseage of 17. The report cited a study from 1992 96 in which the rate of crash related deaths among 16 and 17 year olds was 18 per 100,000 in New Jersey, compared with 26 per 100,000 in Connecticut, which had a minimum driver s license age of 16 and 4 months (Willette). Overall the argument that raising the age will result in less teen deaths while drivingis highly justified. There are frequent examples and a huge amount of research that proves that younger drivers are more likely to cause harm or damage than an older, more experienced driver. One crucial evidence used in the case to raise the driving age is the mental stage teenagers are in at this age. Teen brains at sixteen aren t as developed as an eighteen year old brain. The affluent Manhattan he encounters reflects the post war scene, with New York the unquestionable center of finance and trade. At night, the city s music clubs and bars are packed with people: New Yorkers, visitors, college kids, etc. By day, Holden takes us to some of city s most famous landmarks. Grand Central Station is the largest train station in the world (by number of platforms: 67). Although slated for improvement in the 1960s, Grand Central was saved and has recently been renovated into a hub for fine dining and expensive shopping. I would like to visit this place for the scenery and for the lifestyle. I would rather live a fast pace life rather than a relaxing quiet lifes. As for the scenery, New York is filled with many astonishing landmarks, as well as the cities around New York. • 44. Stylistic Elements In Beowulf The three stylistic elements I chose were rhythm, kenneling, and alliteration. Rhythmic an element in major part because of the oral nature of the epic. The rhythm comes form alliterations and not from usual meter and rhyme. An example of rhythm is, The nobleman s son then passed the steep rocky cliffs, the narrow path, the narrow single filed path, an unknown way, precipitous headland, the homes of many water monsters. Alliterations are a repetition of stressed sounds, particularly consonants from the beginning syllables. An example would be Peter Piper picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers. Isabel has faced many challenges in her life, ranging from her abusive witch like owner Madame Lockton, to choosing whether to side with Great Britain or America. The old man Isabel calls grandfather, tells her, Everything that stands between you and freedom is the River Jordan. When talking about about the River Jordan, her grandfather means that Isabel must overcome her problems (the River Jordan) to find freedom and escape from the brutality of being a slave. There are many things that get in the way of Isabel on her quest to freedom, such as Madame Lockton, choosing sides, finding Ruth, and a potential way Isabel can find freedom. Each... They used a simile comparing Isabel and the two nations to a ghost trapped in the ground, with Isabel depicted as the ghost. It explained that Isabel is a like ghost trapped in the ground, not with the British nor the Americans. The glowing iron streaked in front of my face like a comet... The man pushed the hot metal against my cheek. It hissed and bubbled. Smoke curled under my nose. They cooked me. (148) This passage clarifies when Isabel gets branded. This part of the story almost broke Isabel s spirit to fight forward and for freedom. Not like her usual self, she followed orders received from Madame and rarely thought about Ruth and her parents. I took a step up. Answer me, you miserable cow. Did you sell my sister? ... She is only 5 years old. I rose another step. She is a baby and you sold her away from me. (135) During this section of the story, this would be the first time Isabel ever truly got mad at Madame, even enough to yell at her with a rude name. This is one of the larger complications that add more water to Isabel s River Jordan. Ruth was Isabel s only family left, and she sincerely did care for Ruth, but when Ruth got sold it put Isabel into despair. It was also the cause of Isabel being branded. But Ruth did. She giggled, a sound like a small silver bell. A bell tolling disaster. Madam Lockton... pointed her finger at us. Which one of you made that noise? • 46. Military Intertextuality One fundamental principle in discourse analysis is the concept of intertextuality. Julia Kristeva s coinage of the term, back in 1986, represents an attempt to synthesize Ferdinand de Saussure s semiotics with Bakhtin s (1981) dialogism and his examination of the multiple meanings, or heteroglossia , the interrelatedness and existence of language and discourses, by which meaning is not transferred directly from writer to reader but instead is mediated through, or filtered by codes imparted to the writer and reader by other texts. It is beyond doubt that military communication benefits from and even dwells on the conceptof intertextuality, given that the weight and essence of the ideological concepts inherent in the discourseof the military largely depend on the background information characteristic to a specific social, political or cultural context.... I argue that the analysis of the discursive materializations of military communication must take into account the multitude of meanings that go beyond texts. Analysis Of Two Lovers And A Beachcomber By Sylvia Plath Sylvia Plath and Two Lovers and a Beachcomber by the Real Sea Sylvia Plath, while one of the best known poets of the 20th century, has diminished in popularity to the modern audience. Despite this, Plath s work is still poignant today with its self examination of life in the context of poor mental health and its confessional style that has become a staple of American literature. On October 27, 1932, Sylvia Plath was born to Aurelia Schober and Otto Plath, both immigrants of Germanic descent. Although she was born in Boston, Sylvia Plath spent her childhood years in Winthrop, Massachusetts, a smaller coastal town. Unfortunately, Plath lost her father to diabetes related complications in November of 1940 at the young age of eight; however, her eighth year of life also brought her the publication of her first poem in the children s section of The Boston Herald. Two years later, the Plath family moved to Wellesley, Massachusetts, so her mother could work at Boston University and support the family. Plath excelled at her school in Wellesley and began to receive prizes and awards for her writing. Along with her natural intelligence, this culminated in a personality that her mother described as precocious as well as the development of perfectionist tendencies that would afflict her significantly later in life (Barnard 15). Similarly, America s entrance into World War II in 1944 contributed to Sylvia Plath s pessimistic outlook on human nature. Additionally, as she grew up and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An analysis of the reaction s initial rate at varying molarities of hydrochloric acid and masses of magnesium shot, along with the method of initial rates was used to determine the rate law for the reaction; rate = k (SA of Mg)a [H+]b. It was hypothesized that the reaction would be second order overall. After determining the rate law, the activation energy was determined by changing the temperature at which the reaction took place. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the biggest sources of error was letting some of the hydrogen gas escape during the reaction because the cap of the pressure probe could not be placed on top of the flask quick enough. Not being able to measure all of the change in pressure resulted in a lower rate law because the graph of pressure versus time had a smaller slope. In future experiments, a system in which the reactants could be mixed with the pressure probe already in place would yield much more accurate results because the change in pressure would be higher which would cause the initial rate to be larger. Another source of error in the experiment was keeping the temperature of the trial in the ice bath consistent. If the temperature of the HCl changed from when it was measure to when the reaction took place, the activation energy calculations would have had increased error. Because the HCl was still sitting in the ice bath, if the actual temperature was colder that what we calculated, the activation energy would have been lowered.
