Bilingual Education Over The United States
The Acts have vastly improved bilingual education over the years. The current programs available
to culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students are numerous and are found throughout the
U.S. The fact that educating CLD students has historically been a hot button issue so much that it
is part of the political arena. Bilingual educationhas become a controversial issue tied up with
immigration policies, government funding, and political parties. Therefore, there have been great
changes made overtime to how the program is administered, and what types of certifications the
educators require. The State of Texas has issued a Texas Education Code that includes laws and
codes passed by the state legislature. These include adaptations for special learning populations of
English languagelearners. The state mandated these policies found in the Texas Administrative
Code, Chapter 89 was enacted to ensure that every student in the state of Texas that is classified as
culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) will be a part of programs that provide native and
second languageinstruction. Policies and laws such as these were not available to protect culturally
and linguistically diverse student populations in the past. Krashen states, the sink or swim
technique was not a successful teaching practice with immigrants and American Indians; this
caused low academic achievement and increased dropout rates. The more recent policies are based
on studies that while students learn the

How The Repercussions Of Childhood Sexual Abuse
Your past affects your future, that is one idea that most people can agree upon. Survivors of
Childhood Sexual Abuse develop symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and are unable to
form positive working relationships. Often times the effects of CSA are not fully manifested until
later in life. According to Doctor Judith Worell s Encyclopedia of Women and Gender, nearly 50
percent of Childhood Sexual Abuse reported in 1997 involved victims seven years and younger
with the remaining half being split 22 percent between ages eight and eleven, and 25 percent
between age twelve and eighteen. Some may argue that at young ages children may forget what has
happened to them therefore it will not affect them in the future, although this may be possible,...

with Research conducted on the characteristics of female sexual abusers uses three specific case
examples of young girls, ages: ten, twelve, and sixteen. In two of three case examples, the girls
had reported being sexually abused at a young age. The third girl, age sixteen, did not explicitly
state she had been sexually abused, but has close ties with her father who is a known sex
offender,; therefore it is believed that she has been sexually abused during childhood. A review of
adolescent offenders of sexual abuse, under the age of 21, shows: Chi square analyses showed
significant associations between those who targeted children and being sexually abused or having
a family member subject to sexual abuse The study also reports that those that have experienced
sexual assault at a young age, and have been reported to sexually assault other children typically
have poor relationships with peers and family members in addition to experiencing two or more

The Bible Is True And Not Myths
Archaeology has verified that the bible is true but how? First, archeology has confirmed the
biblical stories are true and not myths, as the world believed, because of ancient sites and
civilizations discovered. Second, manuscripts that were found and translated has shown people
today how the people back in the biblelived and worked. Last but not least, archeology has shown
where major events, like battles, have gone on and during what year, they happened. According to
Archeology and the Old Testament, the book of Judges took place around the Iron Ageperiod, which
was 1200 586 BC. Excavations have provided some useful information about daily life in ancient
Israelduring Judges, including the land, climate and people. However, before we learn about
how people lived their daily lives in Israel during the Iron Ages, we should learn about the
geography of Israel. The land of Israel stretches from Dan in the North to Beersheba in the South
and from the Mediterranean Sea in the west to the Transjordan in the east. Israel s landscape is
divided into five main regions and even though the regions are in the same place they all receive
different amounts of rain, which produce different crops. The first region, the coastal plain, goes
along the Mediterranean coast to Rosh HaNiqura, receives about 25 to 16 inches of rain which is
a great place to grow grain. The second region, is the central mountain range that goes from Galilee
to Negev Highlands; this region receives from 20 to

Through the IR spectrum we can identify it as an isoborneol because it s basically a hydrocarbon
with a carbonyl. The C H stretching around 3000 wavenumbers, there isn t much else you can
identify. Camphor is fairly simple, so there is no anything other than the carbonyl and some C H
stretching.
The spectrum of isoborneol should show an OH peak, though because it s a solid sample, the
peak won t be as broad as those seen for OH peaks in liquid samples. My guess is that the peak at
~3600 wavenumbers is the OH group. However, in my result, the wave doesn t seem to be clearly
showed. It probably means that my isoborneol sample has retained some amount of the precursor,
either because the reaction didn t go to completion or because my purification procedure was
inadequate.
Borneol and isoborneol contain an asymmetric carbon atom (denoted by an asterisk), and therefore
each of them exists in two optically active forms and one inactive racemic form ( , +, and В±).
Borneol has an endo configuration; in other hand, its isomer, isoborneol, has an exo

Executive Summary:
Global food demand is expected to grow by 110 per cent over the next 30 to 35 years as a
consequence of increased urbanization and the predicted rise in global population from 7.3 billion
today to 9.7 billion by 20501. Overlying this scenario are changes in the global climate that will
affect crop productivity. Cassavais the second most important source of calories after maize in
some African countries, like Angola and Mozambique, but for the rural poor, it represents a much
larger proportion of daily calories and provides an important source of proteins, vitamins and
micronutrients1. The vision for cassava is that cassava will spur rural industrial development and
raise incomes for producers, processors and traders and contribute to the food security status of its
producing and consuming households6.
The strategy applied can consist of identifying, in a systematic manner, the opportunities and
constraints of cassava at each stage of the commodity development cycle. The opportunities to
increase efficiency of cassava crop mainly relies on the modification of the structure and
architecture, and improving the genetic yield of the crop6.
Introduction:
Cassava provides the livelihood of up to 500 million farmers and countless processors and traders

Courage In Amelia Earhart
Courage is the price that Life exacts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not, knows no
release from little things. Amelia Earhart. Life is not meant for the meek. It is not meant to be
lived in a box or in a comfort zone. As Amelia Earhart so eloquently put it, it takes courage to
experience peace in this life. I have had to embody that as I follow my dreams and fight for my
goals. My goal is to be a pediatric genetic counselor. To accomplish this goal, I have had to use
courage to face adversity, step outside my comfort zone, and strive for what I want. You can t just
sit back and wait for what you want. It s not enough to just say you want something and go
through the motions. You have to fiercely and actively seek out what you want and prove that you
are the best choice. It may not always work out in your favor, but it is better to fail then to never
try at all.
The soul that knows it not knows no release from the little things: knows not the livid loneliness of
fear. Amelia Earhart. When trying to accomplish your goals, not everything will go as planned.
Very rarely will you just be handed what you want. When you work for something, sometimes
you will fail. You will be told you weren t the best choice or you were good, but just not what
they were looking for. And it hurts. It beats you down and steals your confidence. But failure is the
best teacher. Failure makes you stronger and builds you up to be the best you can. It can be
challenging to try again

Research Paper On The Minotaur
Paris can be a very busy city, tourists trying to snap as many pictures of monuments as they can,
stop and go traffic on every street, and impatient Parisians who are just trying to get to work and
away from tourists. The reason for all of this bustle is because Paris hosts some of the most famous
attractions in the world! The Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Centre Pompidou are at the center of
these attractions in Paris.
Known for its renowned art, the Louvre is one of Paris most famous art museums. Inside its walls,
more than 35,000 paintings, drawings, and sculptures reside. In the Louvre, tourists will find many
well known paintings, drawings, and sculptures. The most famous is the Mona Lisa, painted by

The tower stands in the seventh arrondissement (district), is rich in history, and is one of the
most visited attractions in Paris. The Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 for the World s Fair and
was the main attraction at the fair. It was constructed to commemorate the French Continental
Army. This memorial was no easy feat to build. Each of the 18,00 pieces used to construct the
tower was specifically made for this creation. Two and a half million thermally assembled rivets
later, this 324 metre tower was successfully finished. Although many people think Gustave Eiffel
is to credit for much of this creation, there are two other men, Maurice Koechlin and Emile
Nouguier, who should be credited. According to Life Science.com, Koechlin and Nouguier are
actually the ones who came up with the original designs for the tower. Thanks to the work of
Koechlin, Nouguier, and Eiffel, the tower is Paris s most visited attraction. According to Frommer
s Guide to Paris, on a high day, the tower can host over 32,000 people. That adds up to about 7
million visitors a year. When visiting this historic monument, a tourist should keep in mind the rich

The Next Revolution in Music Technology: Make or Break?
Throughout life I have encountered several different mediums of music including eight track
recordings, vinyl records, cassette tapes, mini discs, digital audio tapes (DAT), and compact discs.
I have always considered the CD to be the greatest technological advancement (as a medium of
music) of my generation because it was the first digital audio format made readily available to the
general public. Because of the CD, people were hearing music like they had never heard it before
exactly as it would sound in the artist s recording studio. Among other things, we have digital audio
technology to thank for that. But we have recently been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The players connect to a computer, and MP3 files are transferred to them, allowing users to utilize
the portable unit the same way they use a portable cassette or CD player. As you may see by this
brief overview, the new audio format has generated a lot of activity. As far as obtaining MP3
audio files goes, there are thousands of web sites dedicated to supplying the files (mp3.com,
mp3.box.sk, mp3.lycos.com). An Internet surfer can search for music in MP3 format, and by the
simple click of a button, have the music transferred to his or her computer in as little as five
minutes or even less.
What types of music are available in MP3 format? Any type one could imagine.
While a portion of MP3 files in existence are created by individual, unsigned music artists, there is
also a large amount of commercial, copyright protected music freely available for download from
the Internet. This is the beginning of a complicated argument.
Now that it is possible for consumers to download copyrighted material free of charge, major
record labels have a great fear.
Tons of people use it [MP3] online, but most big record labels have not embraced it for fear of
privacy, since the format also allows for widespread copying of illegal files.

Service Breadth And Reliability Of Intermodal Service
Intermodal service evolves
The full range of interdependent intermodal (IMDL) transportation and distribution services have
evolved in recent years and now offer the service breadth and reliability necessary to play an
important part in domestic and global supply chains.
Intermodal was once a slow trailers on rails alternative to inter city trucking with less than
dependable transit times typically available only between limited sets of origin and destination
cities. The service was not integrated with other transportation and distribution components of the
supply chain.
Today, intermodal offers dependable, flexible and cost effective linehaul, dray and transload options
for large and small shippers moving products through logistics networks, whether across North
America between major population centers, or as final miles distribution of an international supply
chain. Increasingly, Intermodal is being leveraged by shippers over relatively short distances at a
cost that s competitive with OTR (Over The Road) trucking service and with scheduled and reliable
transit times.
Intermodal s value proposition for shippers centers around the concept of using multiple,
coordinated and highly managed transportation and distribution services. These services consist of
off dock and terminal drayage, ocean container to domestic equipment transloading, rail linehaul
and destination drayage to effect efficient, cost effective and risk managed supply chains. The

characterized by loss of contact with the environment, by noticeable deterioration of functioning in
everyday life, and by disintegration of one s personality. What we know as schizophrenia today has
been around for at least two centuries, but not named until the early 1900 s by Kraepelin. In order
to fully understand this disease you need to know the types and symptoms, the causes, and the
treatment and recovery.
Schizophrenia is a disease that is on a spectrum, there are five different subtypes. Paranoid
schizophrenia is when a person is delusional and suspicious of others plotting against them or their
family members. Disorganized schizophrenia also known as hebephrenia includes hallucinations as
well as illogical and incoherent thought and behaviors. Little or no interest in things, withdrawing
and being in a constant daze describes catatonic schizophrenia. Residual schizophrenia includes not
being motivated in life anymore, it is an acute version of the illness. Depression is associated with
schizoaffective disorder, with them both having to do with frequent mood changes. All of these
different types shows that there are a variety of schizophrenics.

Because of this smart card, Taiwan has the lowest administrative costs in the world.
Unfortunately Taiwan is not bringing in enough money to support its healthcare services. The
fifth country that was visited was Switzerland. Switzerland spends 11.6% of its GDP on
healthcare. Citizens pay $750 a month for premiums. If you are too poor to pay for your
premiums, the government will pay. Citizens pay 10% of the cost of services for a co pay.
Switzerland also used the social insurance model. 95% of the population already had voluntary
insurance when they country switched systems. All citizens are required to have coverage.
Switzerland shows that in a high capitalist nation with powerful insurance and pharmaceutical
industries, universal coverage is possible. Insurance companies are not allowed to make a profit
off of basic care and are not able to select only young and healthy applicants. The government sets
the prices on drugs, but the insurers and providers negotiate on all other prices. Switzerland has
the second most expensive system behind the U.S. The Swiss do not have gatekeepers, some
insurance plans may require them or may give a discount for using them. I really would much
rather have one of these systems compared to the one that we have now. Although I do have good
insurance, I think some of these methods may be easier for most people. I could go

How Does Edgar Allan Poe Use Allusions In The Raven
Dark romantic writers explores the evil sides of humanity, such as Edgar Allan Poe, when he
exposes readers to the dangers of loss and isolation. One midnight when the narrator was
reminiscing over his lost Lenore, a raven flew in his window and confronted him. He loses himself
and reality the more he talks with the raven, as he longs to see his lost love, Lenore. In stanza
fourteen of The Raven, Poe uses several allusions and imagery to show the narrator s growing
mental instability and paranoia due to living in solitude and his never ending love for the missed
Lenore. Poe uses imagery to identify the point when the narrator starts going crazy. The narrator
first imagines the air thickening, and perfume filling the air. He notices, the air grew denser,
perfumed from an unseen censer (Poe 79). He fantasizes a nice scent in the air, that is not there. He
then hears footsteps in another room, which Poe describes it by using figurative language to appeal
to the hearing sense. Foot falls tinkled on the tufted floor (Poe 80). While staring at the raven, the
narrator believes that there is something else in his house, creating the scent of perfume and making
the footsteps.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the belief that something else besides himself and the raven are in the narrator s house, he
imagines that the footsteps were swung by Seraphim (Poe 80). It is an allusion to mystic
creatures in the Bible, who circles God and praises him. He thinks that they have come to visit
him and to take his pain away. Another allusion that Poe makes is the narrator s wish for
Nepenthe, a drink to forget all sorrows and banish grief. Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and
forget this lost Lenore! (Poe 83). In Homer s The Odyssey, nepenthe is used on Helen to make her
forget her home. The narrator in The Raven wishes for the drug, so he can forget about Lenore, his
remorse for her, and the ominous

The center of Italian life is encircled around relationships. Italian families widen from aunts, uncles,
grandparents and cousins. Italian families also form strong friendships with neighbors and people
across their community. Italian people do not focus on the factor of being Italian, but more on the

Bartleby The Scrivener, By Melville Essay
Melville s short story Bartleby the scrivener, describes the narrator as an elderly old man that
wishes to give details of the life of Bartleby the scrivener. Bartleby was a completely emotionless
human being who refuses to interact with the world around him. These actions shape the short
story, picking at its viewers mind as to why Bartlebyis disconnected from society. Bartleby worked
in the dead letters office this may have triggered his inability to relate to the world around him.
This motionless docility covered his inner troubles that he withheld from the world. The narrator
states I have known very many of them, professionally and privately, and if I pleased, could relate

(Melville s). In this he means that many persons might choose to smile as they find pleasure in

about in that it weeps for Bartleby, however the narrator brings the humor to life as he becomes

The Importance Of Web Based Communication
The most fundamental method of human expression is communication through both verbal and
non verbal means. As technology, has rapidly developed over the past two decades, and
continues to evolve at a staggering pace leading into the future, people have taken to the World
Wide Web (WWW) as an extension of basic communication capability. WWW communication
allows people to quickly reach out to one another throughout the course of a busy day. As a result
of enhanced communication capability, and a surge in use of communication over the WWW,
areas of private professional and public political life have seen substantial change in recent years.
Positive Public Attitude The daily routines of many individuals have only gotten more hectic in
recent years, despite the advantages of having increased technology. As such, it has become much
more difficult for the average worker to simply reach out with a phone call, or stop in for a face to
face conversation with other professionals. To assist the busy lives of individuals, web based
communication, through secure means, has become more prevalent. From communicating with a
utility company about an electric, water, or gas account, to seeking medical advice from a family
doctor, secure messaging systems are making their mark. A study of forty three physicians was
conducted six months following the implementation of a secure messaging system called Patient

The Awakening, a novel by Kate Chopin, and A Doll s House, a play by Henrik Ibsen are both
works of literature that can be facilely compared. Both works were written around the late 1800 s,
a time when men dominated the lives of women. Each story contains a woman protagonist who
seeks to understand herself better rather than continuing to conform into the standard societal
stereotype of women. Both Nora and Edna grew to feel suffocated by their husbands orders, in
which they clearly showed traits of feminism. They come to realize that there is so much more in

For a while Edna Pontellier conforms by remaining with her husband, taking care of home and
children, and keeping her relationship with Robert quiet throughout the novel. We can clearly see
an inward battle between romance, passion, confusion, and unrealized raw emotions while the
outlying Edna remains calm as she gradually distances herself from her life with her husband,
Leonce Pontellier. Concurrently, she surrounds herself with independent foils, such as
Mademoiselle Reisz, who is the epitome of defiance of conformity, while remaining unmarried
and entirely devoted to her music. This type of lifestyle was completely unheard of and viewed
as taboo for women. Towards the end of the novel Edna befriends AlcГ©e Arobin whose lifestyle

who originally started this sexual awakening Edna experiences, as well as the romantic part of her,
a part in which her husband never knew. Throughout the book the sea is constantly referenced,

Susan B. Anthony And The Abolitionist Movement
Susan B. Anthony devoted her life to the rights of women s labor, receiving equal pay, and
leading the women s suffrage movement. She grew up in a home where politics was frequently
discussed. Her family supported an end to slavery as part of the abolitionist movement. In her
early years, she was a teacher and became involved in the temperance movement as well as the
anti slavery movement. Because she was a woman, she was not allowed to voice her opinion.
This became a motivator for her to become a woman s suffrage leader. A skilled, talented woman
made a difference when she joined forces with Stanton. As mentioned earlier, Stanton and
Anthony opposed the fourteenth and fifteen amendments for not liberating women. As Mayo
states, she published The Revolution, a radical paper, edited by Stanton (1868 1870), and
lectured for over six years to pay off its debt. (Rights for Women, para.3) She was arrested for
voting in 1872. She led a woman s protest at the 1876 Centennial delivering a Declaration of
Rights written by Stanton and Matilda Gage. She wrote and published, with Stanton and Gage the
History of Woman Suffrage (1881 1885) (Mayo para. 5). Although she was arrested and it seemed
like nothing came easy, she never gave up. Anthony was a hard working woman that rallied many in
hopes of advancing women s rights. She gathered signatures on suffrage petitions at the state and
national levels, undertook arduous state tours to organize suffrage campaigns in the states

(CRM), Supply Chain management (SCM), Human Resource management (HRMS). While they all
have their own emphasis, the advantages of each of these modules include the ability to store data,
create reports that enable management to make sense out of the data, and share this information, in
real time, throughout the organization. With good input data, information systems can provide a
company with a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Discussion
Information systems can provide great value to all departments within a company. For customer
service, dealing regularly with the buyers of products or services, having a information system that
captures buying patterns, pricing, credit terms, and customer preferences, greatly simplifies the job,
reduces errors, speeds order processing and can create customer loyalty. For finance, information
systems enable the group to generate reports to understand product profitability, customer pricing
and terms, and more. For all departments, having access to meaningful information

Female Infanticide Should Not Be Legal
Female infanticide is the killing of a female baby out of the womb. In the past they would strangle
the infant girls after birth. It is not justifiable for mothers to have to make the decision to kill their
kid. Female Infanticide should not be legal due to the fact that innocent children lose their lives,
the family loses their child, the ratio of girls to boys is unequal ethically it is not right!
A person is a living entity with the inherent, internal capacity to develop reason and choice.
Biologically, there is only one generic class of human beings: everyone from conception until death.
If human beings are persons then, prima facie, all human beings, born and preborn are persons too.
If the purely biological fact of birth is what transforms non persons into person, then what about
nonhuman mammals? No one pretends that their mere birth transforms them into persons. Being
human is what makes you a person (McElroy page 1).
Female infanticide is not easily talked about. Female infanticide and sex selective abortion in India
have been the subject of much attention in recent years. Many people believe that in ancient Indian
traditions, female infanticide is to

Introduction
Kindness is the one notion that can be understood throughout time and across all cultures and
languages. To be altruistic in the modern day world is to show selfless concern for the welfare of
others. Many consider such a characteristic to be immeasurable, but leaps in science and math have
begun to show otherwise. This was really intriguing, as I had never even considered the possibility
of developing a mathematical basis for altruism. As my CAS project, I founded a Random Acts of
Kindness club to promote giving in my school and local community. The idea of being able to ...

The players choices are interrelated, so the outcome depends on both parties involved (Myerson).
This theory can be applied in a public goods experiment that dealt with a situation of making
decisions for either self or group interest. In the study, participants were placed into groups of
four and each given 20 money units (MUs). They had the choice of contributing between 0 to 20
MUs to the group for a specified number of rounds. Their choice was only revealed to the other
members of the experiment after everyone has chosen at the end of each round (Fowler and
Nicholas).
For the purpose of this paper, I will present a simplified version of this experiment modified for
two participants to show the logic behind game theory, which will determine the supposed outcome
of the experiment. The basic model serves the general purpose of demonstrating how the most
beneficial scenario is to always look out for one s own interests. In this case, the players have two
choices; donate their money, which would take away from their own pleasure, or keep it. Suppose
both are male participants. Each is assigned 1 monetary unit (MU) for the one turn game;
If both participants keep their money, each ends up with his original amount (1MU). If only one
participant donates, he loses everything (0 MU). On the other hand, the other

Analysis of Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
Chinua Achebe s 1958 novel Things Fall Apart marked a significant turning point not only for
literature, but the world, because the novel is an attempt to blend the conflicting identities and
ideologies of Africa in the wake of colonization. The novel depicts the destructive tension that arises
between the traditions of the Igbo peopleand white colonizers, but, perhaps contrary to the reader s
expectation, it does not present either side as holding the ethical high ground. Rather, the novel
suggests that both the Igbo and the white missionaries perpetuate repressive ideologies, and
furthermore, that the destructive effects of these ideologies are visited upon both Ikemefuna and
Okonkwo. Okonkwo s larger narrative arc actually suggests an ideal third path that discards the ,
because the novel blends elements of African and Western literature in order to tell a story that is
simultaneously a tragedy in the Greek sense and clearly, essentially African. By examining
Okonkwo s story in detail, it will be possible to see how Achebe uses the particular narrative
elements of Things Fall Apartin order to demonstrate a potential bridge between the two societies
which in the novel are seemingly so far apart. To state that the 1958 publication of Things Fall
Apart was a significant moment for literature and the world is not a particularly bold statement,
because its centrality to the understanding of African society pre and post colonialism, as well as its
particular historical

Federalism In Australia Summary
In the article, Federalism in Australian Constitutional interpretation: signs of reinvigoration? ,
Chordia and Lynch explore the constitutional interpretative approach used by the majority in
Amalgamated Society of Engineers v Adelaide Steamship Co Ltd (1920). The article discusses the
key factors in the majority s decision in Engineers that disadvantaged the states by significantly
increasing the power of the Commonwealth.
Tension between the principles of responsible government and federalism was anticipated by the
framers of the constitution, predicting that the one of the two will eventually cancel the other one
out. This tension surfaced in the majorities decision in Engineers and is explored using the
historical evidence of the framers intentions, the ideas that influenced them, and Justice Gageler s
critique of the Engineers decision. Chordia and Lynch argue that the majorities decision in
Engineers focused on responsible government, while completely ignoring the principles of
Federalism. This is evident in the delivery of the majorities decision, declaring that the two

Secondly, Gageler argues that the people of the Commonwealth and the people of the states are
members of a unified sovereign nation rather than members of opposing groups. As such, the
principles of responsible government hold that the laws of the commonwealth hold government
accountable to a unified Crown and to the Australian people. The third argument is that federalism
should only function within situations that directly involve an interference between the
commonwealth and the states. In particular, this third argument corresponds with the nationalist
model of federation that supports a single unified head of

Dr. Seuss Research Paper
Dr. Seuss real name is Theodor Seuss Geisel. He was born March 2, 1904, in a small town
named Springfield, Massachusetts. His parents were Theodor Robert Geisel and Henrietta
Seuss Geisel. He gives his mom credit today for his love of rhymes and being able to rhyme so
well. He lived a happy childhood with his parents and his sister and even used some of those
memories in his books (Horton hears a Who and I heard it on Mulberry street). He eventually left
home for college at Dartmouth. Where he and his friends started a humor newspaper named Jack

Sadly, he got kicked off Jack O Lantern for getting caught drinking in his dorm room. But shortly

Interpretation Of The Golden Rule Approach
Question 1
(i)According to literal rule, Jane has given a flick knife to her supervisor so she would be guilty of
offence. But her intention of giving a flick knife to her supervisor was to punish a youth
member. So literal rule is not applicable because it gives us an absurd result. So we will apply the
golden rule approach because according to that approach her purpose of act was sensible so she
will not be found guilty of her act.
(ii)According to Fisher v Bell, displaying an old military knife with a spring opening device in his
shop window with a price label is treated as an invitation to treat by Tony, and not an offer.
According to literal approach of statutory interpretation, it is the task of the court to give a statute s
words their literal meanings regardless of whether the result is sensible or not. So, Tony will not be
found guilty by this rule.
(iii)Under the literal rule of statutory interpretation, Fola will be guilty an offence because she
has given a flick knife to another person. There is an ambiguity as she donates the box to a
charity shop without checking the contents of the box. However if we apply the mischief or
purposive rule it will give us the clear intentions of her that her purpose of the act was to donate
box of kitchen utensils so she will not be found guilty.

Introduction to Research Methods, Fall 2016
Abstract
The following study proposal would review the results of the overall health outcomes of patients
who replaced pharmaceutical treatment with medical marijuana. The study will look at the
improvements in meal consumption, Clinical Global Impression scores, Pittsburgh Agitation Scale,
and the decrease in the symptom being monitored. The studies being reviewed research many
conditions ranging from Alzheimer disease, dementia patients, dystonia, dyskinesias, and tics, and
pain management. Many studies indicate that the results may vary, and the extent of its beneficial
properties should be determined by the patients physician. It is hypothesized that the patients that
are replacing pharmaceutical treatment with medical treatment will present positive results.
One of the most popular treatments for medical problems is the prescription of pharmaceutical
drugs. Many doctors prescribe this drug without considering natural or holistic remedies. There are
many alternative solutions for many conditions, like diet, exercise, or therapy, yet doctors are still
quick to write out a prescription for pharmaceutical drugs for their patients. Pharmaceutical drugs
can be very dangerous and extremely harmful in any dosing or potency. Many doctors over
prescribe this drug, leading to addiction and even toxicity. One very popular

Research Report On Financial Reporting
Abstract
As the going concern issues in financial reporting: a guide for companies and directors (Australian
Institute of Company Directors, 2009) indicated, The going concern assumption is a fundamental
principle that underlies the preparation of the vast majority of financial reports (incorporated in the
annual reports) of Australian companies , the main purpose of this research report is aimed to
investigate the importance of going concern concept to both directors and the users of financial

It is upon their discretion and the appropriateness of their use of going concern assumption is an
important matter considered by every auditing firm. Several financial reporting frameworks has a
clear requirement asking the management to create specific assessment of the entity s capability to
continue with their operations and as a going concern. Furthermore, the management is also
required to assess specific standards and disclosure to be made in relation with going concern. One
specific example is within IFRS or the International Financial Reporting Standards, and IAS or
International Accounting Standards. Below is the Presentation of Financial Statements or AASB
101 26:
In assessing whether the going concern assumption is appropriate, management takes into account
all available information about the future, which is at least, but is not limited to, twelve months
from the balance sheet date. The degree of consideration depends on the facts in each case. When
an entity has a history of profitable operations and ready access to financial resources, a conclusion
that the going concern basis of accounting is appropriate may be reached without detailed analysis.
In other cases, management may need to consider a wide range of factors relating to current and
expected profitability, debt repayment schedules and potential

Art And Sports In American Culture
How should art and sports contribute to the good life of an American citizen? How should we
value art and sports in our culture? What is the real purpose of arts and physical education? How
does art and sports take part in my culture? How should we, as a culture value sports and art? We
should value art and sport more as part of our culture. Dr. Dana Gioia in his 2007
Commencement address to Stanford University states, The role of the culture, however, must go
beyond economics. It is not focused on the price of things, but on their value. And, above all,
culture should tell us what is beyond pride, including what does not belong in the market. A
culture should also provide some cogent view of the good life beyond mass accumulation.
There is a difference between cost and value. 2 people could have the same object with the same
cost but could value that object differently. For example, one person could purchase a painting
for $500, another person could receive that same painting with the same cost from a close
relative. The person that paid $500 would value it as an expensive item, and the person who
received the painting from a close relative would value it as something they would cherish
because it was given to them as a gift. Same thing with sports, someone could be in a seeing that it
is something that they take pride in and another person could take participate in a sport because
their parents did it or their parents want them to do it. Two people can have the

Latin Language In The Latin Language
The Latin language was originally spoken in small groups along the Tiber River, but spread with
the increase of Roman political power. It first spread throughout Italy and most of western and
southern Europe, along with central and western Mediterranean coastal regions of Africa. Today s
romance languages developed from spoken Latinof various parts of the Roman Empire. From the
middle ages to comparatively recent times, Latin was the most common used language in the West
for scholarly and literary purposes (Posner and Sala).
Until the latter of the 20th century, Latin s use was required in the liturgy of the Roman Catholic
Church. During the Classical Period, there were three types of Latin in use: Classical written,
Classical oratorical, and ordinary colloquial Latin, which was used by the average speaker of the
language. Spoken Latin continued to break off from normal grammar, pronunciation, and
vocabulary. During Classical and immediate Post Classical periods, there were many inscriptions
that proved spoked Latin, but after 3rd century CE, many texts were written in Vulgar Latin.
However, in Early 4th and 5th centuries, St. Jerome and St. Augustine wrote good literary Late
Latin. The Latin language continued to evolve in two ways: the basis of local spoken forms
morphed into Romance Languages, and it was continued in a standardized
Dendy 2 form throughout the Middle Ages as a language of religion and scholarship. Imitation
of Classical and Post Classical models continued into the 6th century. There was also continuity
of literary tradition, even after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. Research in the late 20th
century suggested that Romanization was more widespread and only the scholarly men were
imbued with Roman Values. Because Latin died out in Britain, it is believed that the language
was only used by the elite. Some believe that the language died out because of the genocide of
the Roman British, and evolution of the Anglo Saxon and Romano Celtic into the new society
(Posner and Sala). Ken Black believes that Latin is dead. He states that since Latin is no longer
used on a daily basis outside of a religious setting and is no longer used as one s native tongue, it is
no longer considered a

but one of the wars they fought in was the war of the Austrian succession. It began on August 16,

Labeling Theory
Deviance, like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder. There is nothing inherently deviant in any
human act, something is deviant only because some people have been successful in labelling it so.
J. L Simmons The definition of the situation implies that if you define a situation as real, it is real
only in its consequences.
INTRODUCTION
Labelling theory, stemming from the influences of Cooley, Mead, Tannenbaum, and Lemert, has its
origins somewhere within the context of the twentieth century. However, Edwin Lemert is widely
considered the producer and founder of the original version of labelling theory. This paper, not a

deviance. It attempts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The deviant s response to societal reaction leads to secondary deviation by which the deviant
comes to accept a self image or self definition as someone who is permanently locked within a
deviant role. Furthermore, the distinctiveness of the approach is that it draws attention to
deviance as the outcome of social imputations and the exercise of social control. Labelling theory
is very complex, making it quite different than other theories. Instead of looking at why some
social groups commit more crime, labelling theory asks why some people committing some
action come to be defined as deviant, while others do not. Labelling theory is also interested in
the effect of labelling individuals. As well, labelling theorists note that most people commit
crimes at some time in their lives but not everyone becomes defined as deviant or criminal. How
does this process of defining a person as deviant work? Look at a situation where a policeman
holds stereotypes about typical criminals. They use these stereotypes to interpret the behaviour of
suspected deviants. In other words, the closer a person comes to the stereotype held by the police,
the more likely they are to be arrested, charged, and convicted of the crime. Furthermore, once
someone has been successfully labelled or stigmatized as criminal or deviant, the label attached
may become the dominant label.

The Italian and Northern Europe Renaissances were both an important mark in history by changing
the ideals of life, thought, culture, and art of the people s of this time. In this paper I will explain
the motive for change in these cultures, including the similarities and differences of the two
cultures. The Italian and Northern European Renaissance was the marking point for leaving behind
the old ways and moving into the more classical ideals and civilizations for Italy and Northern
Europe. However, Northern Europe developed their ideals more slowly then Italy did. For one

The classical aspects were used to humanize the Christian and secular buildings. The High
Renaissance in Italy, although short lived, was extremely important on the influences of future
Italian art. During the High Renaissance the main focus on Florence, for the arts, shifted to Rome
due to the power and wealth from the popes. Because of the move from Florence to Rome, the two
most important factors of this time, Classicism and Christianity, were merged into one. Italian ideas
were also brought northward through trade and commerce into Europe, where they had a
tremendous amount of influence on the artistic traditions there as well (Benton amp; DiYanni,
2008). Both the Italian and Northern European Renaissance had interest in changing their ideals in
individualism, humanism, and classicism, which has a large impact on their cultures, and arts.
Many of the literary works of this time expressed the same interests between Italy and Northern
Europe. Examples can be seen in the writings of Petrarch (Italian) and Michel de Montaigne
(Northern European). Both of these writers expressed the importance and idealism of humanism.

The Theme of Time in Slaughterhouse-Five Essay
The Theme of Time in Slaughterhouse Five
Many writers in history have written science fiction novels and had great success with them, but
only a few have been as enduring over time as Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five.
Slaughterhouse Five is a personal novel which draws upon Vonnegut s experience s as a scout in
World War Two, his capture and becoming a prisoner of war, and his witnessing of the fire
bombing of Dresden in February of 1945 (the greatest man caused massacre in history). The novel
is about the life and times of a World War Two veteran named Billy Pilgrim. In Slaughterhouse

The Book Of Esther Summary
Introduction
The book of Esther takes place in the Persian Empire during the reign of Ahasuerus. He was the
son of Darius the Great and he reigned from about 486 465 B.C. Esther was a descendant of the
Benjaminites, they came from a part of the kingdom of Judah. Esther was born of the Jews who
had been captive into Babylon nearly 100 years earlier. Many Jews did not return to Jerusalem even
when it was possible, they preferred to continue living where they had settled in the Persian
Empire. Esther was raised by her cousin Mordecai after the death of her parents. Mordecai served
in the palace of the Persian ruler and is more than likely the writer of the book of Esther. Esther tells
a compelling story, filled with drama and excitement, with clear definition of who the heroes
and villains are. The book of Esther reveals deep spiritual truths about God s power to deliver us
from oppression and danger, even when rulers are planning to do evil to God s people. God s
name does not appear in the entire story, but God s presence and deliverance of His people is
obviously implied throughout Esther s story.

However, this process can be messy at times. This strategy is crucial for early steps of an
investigation. A few major problems come to play when trying to follow the money One major
problem with this strategy is that money laundering is international, which makes it harder to
track money. First, financial intelligence is unable to gain evidence from law enforcement records
because law enforcement interest lie in drugs or violence of a criminal enterprise rather than
financial details. Second, some money laundering schemes can be a complex process of layering

I Have A Rendezvous With Death Poem Analysis
The poem consists of three stanzas with different numbers of lines. It begins with the sentence, I
have a rendezvous with Death which is repeated three more times in the poem, in lines 5, 11 and
20. The poem alludes to the realities of war in phrases such as disputed barricade, some scarred
slope, and some flaming town. Besides being a war poem, there are elements of an elegy.
Generally, elegies are written to lament over someone who has passed away. In this piece, however,
the poet contemplates on his own possible deathduring war. Despite the atypical aspects, the poem
embodies an important characteristic of an elegy. An elegiac poem is generally composed to laud
and honor a decreased person so that he or she will not be forgotten.... Show more content on

After this, there is a sharp change of mood: the speaker declares God knows, twere better to...
That is, it would be better to live, better to enjoy the experience of love. The moment of
uncertainty about his death which was present in the previous section may have led to the
thought that it would be better to avoid it. Similarly to his yearning for spring, this reveals the
human and softer side of the speaker. The reader has seen him as an utterly brave figure who
fearlessly approaches Death. In spite of that, as a human being, he still wishes for comfort and
happiness. This softer side of his allows the reader to grasp a sense of remorse and sadness and to
view him as a human being not a mythical figure void of any human

The Power of Payday: Should Collegiate Athletes Be Compensated For Their Athletic Efforts?
I have decided to research whether a collegiate athlete should be compensated for perform for his
or her respective college or university. It is a highly controversial topic within my field of study
because of the different views athletic authorities, administrators, athletes, alumni and future
graduates have on the subject. According to Pay to Play: Should College Athletes be Paid? ,
collegiate student athletes may spend more than 40 hours a week practicing, leaving little time to
keep up with academic commitments (Birkenes 4 5). Majority of their time is spent on the field or

Acne Vulgaris Essay
Christie Moore
Acne Vulgaris Report
December 5th, 2015
Mrs. Cook
Acne vulgaris is a skin condition that is caused by hormone changes that cause our bodies to
secrete more oil that then mixes with dead cells at the epidermis layer and clogs our pores. This
is a condition that mostly affects teens but can also be seen on newborn babies as well as older
people. It is commonly called ACNE.
It can be characterized by small or large red bumps. Sometimes they are raised off the skin,
sometimes they are pus filled and other times they may just swell then go away. The blocked
follicles can keep bacteria trapped in the pores which allows for the bacteria to grow more rapidly.
The pus filled heads are called white heads and the harder cored pimples ... Show more content on

There are a lot of over the counter treatments. There are Stridex pads which are small pads
soaked in alcohol. There are ointments that usually have a form of Benzoyl peroxide.(Jaggi, Rao,
MD, FRCPC Jan.23,2015) Hot compresses can be used to help with the swelling. Hormonal
therapies like Estrogen can be used to decrease the amount of sebum the body produces.
Spironolactone can be used as a treatment that binds the androgen receptors as well in hormone
therapy. (Jaggi, Rao, MD, FRCPC Jan.23, 2015)
Sometimes people have outbreaks that need a doctor s prescription medicine to treat. You would
need to see a dermatologist if this is the case. Usually after your visit with a dermatologist you will
start with topical treatments. Some forms of these treatments would be retinoids and antibiotic. For
severe cases isoltretinoin, dermabrasion and laser resurfacing could be forms of treatment. (Jaggi,
Rao, MD, FRCPC Jan.23,2015)
Acne valgaris can be a skin disorder that can cause low self esteem in teens. So this can as be

Men of Honor
Movie Review Men of Honor Venessa Seldon Central Michigan University HDF: 110
Oppression: Roots amp; Impact 22177961 Cosby, B. and Robertson, S. (Producers) amp;

Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation The movie begins by introducing Master Chief Leslie
W. ( Billy ) Sunday (Robert DeNiro), a US Navy Diver, who has recently gone AWOL. The
movie then flashes back 25 years, where an African American boy named Carl Braschear is

Master Chief Sunday pays Carl a visit while in the hospital and encourages him to not give up
and they will train together. Two months later, after completing all the difficult tasks Naval
Personnel placed before him, he was reinstated to full diving duty. Carl became the first African
American amputee to be on active Navy diving duty, and be promoted to Master Chief. Carl
continued in his Naval career for another nine years before finally retiring. Personal Reflection
Men or Honor is a movie which offers the viewer a great deal of emotion. Even though I
previously watch the movie some years before, I felt this would be the perfect movie based on
our studies. Carl, the main actor in the movie was determined to succeed in life. Because of his
father s confidence and determination, Carl wanted a better life. Society consistently provides
roadblocks for everyone even those with some type of disability. In each segment of the movie,
my feelings bounced between crying and laughing. Each time Carl was faced with an adversity, I
found myself getting mad Critical Thought This week s discussion dealt with Individuals and
Disabilities. Over the years, people who have a disability have been subjected to prejudice and
more. And the first way to diminish someone is through language, by using words or labels to
identify a person as less than, as the others not like us, and so forth. Once a person has been
identified this way, it makes

The Cuban Missile Crisis Essay
In 1962 nuclear war seemed inevitable to the world, it was the first time nuclear war was hanging
on a thread. The Cuban Missile Crisis presented a threat to the world, in which the USSR planted
nuclear missiles on Cuba. America s response was to threaten launching nuclear missiles at the
Russians. This incident launched the world into a new time, which presented nuclear weapons as a
source of power.
The incident of the Cuban Missile Crisis still connects with us today because the power nuclear
weapons present, which provides incentives for countries to want them. Although nuclear
technology was around prior to this incident, the power they represented didn t fully develop till
this time. Since the crisis five new countries have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason this stance can and is sometimes taken is because the entire crisis began with nuclear
weapons and nearly ended everything with them as well. America placed Jupiter Missiles with
nuclear capabilities in Turkey and Italy, as part of NATO s cold wardeterrent against the soviets.
This is what many people say started the tensions, we placed Nukes at their doorstep, thusly
Nikita Khrushchev, the Soviet Premier feared the imbalance of power would prompt America to
strike first. While this psychological fear of Khrushchevs is a piece to the puzzle, many other
things factor into the eventual crisis. The economic dealings between the Soviets and Cuba,
already gave Khrushchev a footing near America in which he could fix the imbalance of power.
But the only reason the USSR and Cuba began dealing with each other is because America cut
off 80% of its exports, creating economic tensions in Cuba. While those are 2 places people point
the blame for the start of the crisis, a final nail in the coffin could also be blamed. The political
ideology John F. Kennedy which feared the spreading of nuclear technology to new nations; he did
claim that the U.S. lagged behind the Soviets in nuclear capabilities during his campaign. JFK
knew as well as Khrushchev did that this was false, but the general thought could only procure
more reason for Khrushchev to plant missiles near America. If America believed they lagged behind

Authors writing about God Essay
All of the authors we have conversed about in class and studied about at home are connected in at
least one way, if not many more. For example, Anne Bradstreet, Jonathan Edwards, Michael
Wigglesworth and John Winthrop all write about God and the way we should all act and the
simple fact that we all need to be Christians and so must the Indians who occupy their lives. Where
as these authors are writers of the Heavenly Father, the authors that I wish to write about, though
they do speak a little about God, I am writing on their influence on the Indian cultureas well as the
impact the Indians have made in Alvar Nunez Cabezade Vacas, Mary Rowlandson s and Samson
Occom s lives.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cabeza de Vaca writes, After this we had a hot argument with them (the Christians), for they
meant to make slaves of the Indians in our train. (Pg 69) He believes the Indians are human too
and are able to live the life they are supposed to live. Although he could not get the ones he lived
with to believe it; he says, To the last I could not convince the Indians that we were of the same
people as the Christian slavers. (Pg69), he told his king and the world, and I trust we understand.
I reflect that Cabeza de Vaca thought the Indians would not be converted, to any of the English
ways; nor did he consider they would be annihilated. I imagine he thought they would just live their
lives as they know how. Obediently.
Mary Rowlandson has a very different view about the Indians, I suppose, because she has an
extremely diverse attitude while writing about them. Rowlandson, at first, thought of the Indians as
barbarians, and I expect she still thought that way after her return to her husband, but she became a
part of them, without wanting to be willing to, but having to, mainly to stay alive. I feel she
knows she is part of the Indians way of living, but she cannot bring herself to say they are not
barbarians, although she realizes she is becoming just like them with the eating of their foods and
learning their language.

Analysis Of Rosie The Riveter
Rosie the Riveter In order to get more women to join the workforce during World War II, the
government used a variety of tactics to motivate them. Propaganda posters of a character named
Rosie the Riveter was one of the most successful ways. Rosie the Riveter represented all the
women who worked in defense industries, in factories and shipyards, to fill the positions of men
who were fighting in the war. Rosie the Riveterwas used as an effective tool for propagandato get
women into the workforce. Yet, despite the fact that millions of women proved themselves to be
good workers, Rosie disappeared when the war ended, proving that she was regarded as purely a
recruitment aid by the government who never really wanted women in the workforce.
Out of the six million women who joined the workforce, half worked in defense industries.
These women were all referred to as Rosies. Some of the most significant Rosies were what
inspired the creation of the strong Rosie the Riveter character. One of these significant Rosies
was Rose Bonavita who worked as a riveter at the General Motors Eastern Aircraft Division in New
York. She is known for setting a production record by drilling 900 holes and driving 300 rivets in a
torpedo bomber in one six hour shift. Rosalind P. Walter was also a riveter, who was the
inspiration of the song Rosie the Riveter that was written in 1942 and became very popular
(Strobel). The first image of Rosie the Riveter was created in 1943 by Norman Rockwell. Mary
Keefe, the model, was actually not a riveter, but a dental hygienist. Norman s image was
speculative and was based on Michelangelo s Isaiah from the Sistine Chapel. The actual image is of
a muscular Rosie who is taking a lunch break which appeared on the cover of the Memorial Day
issue of the Saturday Evening Post (Strobel). Geraldine Hoff Doyle is probably the most well
known faces out of all the Rosies because she was the model for the We Can Do It! poster. During
her one week as a metal presser in a defense factory in Michigan, she was photographed by an
unknown journalist. J. Howard Miller, a graphic artist, turned this photo into the famous We Can
Do It! poster for the Westinghouse Electric Company in 1942. The shop poster was

Analysis Of Scrappy Little Nobody
Memoir 1 Anna Kendrick I Remember Every Slight: You ve Been Warned and Mike and Anna
Take New York , are two excerpts from the book Scrappy Little Nobody, by Anna Kendrick.
Kendrick uses detailed stories to recreate a picture of her childhood, including memories of
sleepovers, school bullies , and bus trips to New York. Anna Kendrick also mentions people that
were part of her life, such as her parents sending her and her brother to New York for an audition,
and Tori the bully who tried to steal all of her friends. Kendrick expresses her anger when Tori
frames her for insulting her friends, and shares about the excitement she felt when she landed
her first acting job. All of this being told from a first person point of view. Anna Kendrick uses
idioms and superlative word choice along with an overall humourous tone. Figurative language
that was used included, I shouldn t get too excited. I shouldn t count my chickens. , and the
metaphor that caught my eye was when she compared underneath the slide on the playground to
a Victorian asylum. One noteworthy phrase was It became less about alleged betrayal and more
about their aversion to hyperactive little weirdos. Kendrick connects the reader to the story when
she mentions Boy Meets World and Home Alone. Memoir 2 Tina Fey Origin Story , The Secrets
to Mommy s Beauty , and Remembrances of Being Very Very Skinny are all excerpts from Tina
Fey s book, Bossypants. In the excerpts, Fey tells stories of when she was

  • 2. Bilingual Education Over The United States The Acts have vastly improved bilingual education over the years. The current programs available to culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students are numerous and are found throughout the U.S. The fact that educating CLD students has historically been a hot button issue so much that it is part of the political arena. Bilingual educationhas become a controversial issue tied up with immigration policies, government funding, and political parties. Therefore, there have been great changes made overtime to how the program is administered, and what types of certifications the educators require. The State of Texas has issued a Texas Education Code that includes laws and codes passed by the state legislature. These include adaptations for special learning populations of English languagelearners. The state mandated these policies found in the Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 89 was enacted to ensure that every student in the state of Texas that is classified as culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) will be a part of programs that provide native and second languageinstruction. Policies and laws such as these were not available to protect culturally and linguistically diverse student populations in the past. Krashen states, the sink or swim technique was not a successful teaching practice with immigrants and American Indians; this caused low academic achievement and increased dropout rates. The more recent policies are based on studies that while students learn the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. How The Repercussions Of Childhood Sexual Abuse Your past affects your future, that is one idea that most people can agree upon. Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse develop symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and are unable to form positive working relationships. Often times the effects of CSA are not fully manifested until later in life. According to Doctor Judith Worell s Encyclopedia of Women and Gender, nearly 50 percent of Childhood Sexual Abuse reported in 1997 involved victims seven years and younger with the remaining half being split 22 percent between ages eight and eleven, and 25 percent between age twelve and eighteen. Some may argue that at young ages children may forget what has happened to them therefore it will not affect them in the future, although this may be possible,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... with Research conducted on the characteristics of female sexual abusers uses three specific case examples of young girls, ages: ten, twelve, and sixteen. In two of three case examples, the girls had reported being sexually abused at a young age. The third girl, age sixteen, did not explicitly state she had been sexually abused, but has close ties with her father who is a known sex offender,; therefore it is believed that she has been sexually abused during childhood. A review of adolescent offenders of sexual abuse, under the age of 21, shows: Chi square analyses showed significant associations between those who targeted children and being sexually abused or having a family member subject to sexual abuse The study also reports that those that have experienced sexual assault at a young age, and have been reported to sexually assault other children typically have poor relationships with peers and family members in addition to experiencing two or more instances of ... • 4. The Bible Is True And Not Myths Archaeology has verified that the bible is true but how? First, archeology has confirmed the biblical stories are true and not myths, as the world believed, because of ancient sites and civilizations discovered. Second, manuscripts that were found and translated has shown people today how the people back in the biblelived and worked. Last but not least, archeology has shown where major events, like battles, have gone on and during what year, they happened. According to Archeology and the Old Testament, the book of Judges took place around the Iron Ageperiod, which was 1200 586 BC. Excavations have provided some useful information about daily life in ancient Israelduring Judges, including the land, climate and people. However, before we learn about how people lived their daily lives in Israel during the Iron Ages, we should learn about the geography of Israel. The land of Israel stretches from Dan in the North to Beersheba in the South and from the Mediterranean Sea in the west to the Transjordan in the east. Israel s landscape is divided into five main regions and even though the regions are in the same place they all receive different amounts of rain, which produce different crops. The first region, the coastal plain, goes along the Mediterranean coast to Rosh HaNiqura, receives about 25 to 16 inches of rain which is a great place to grow grain. The second region, is the central mountain range that goes from Galilee to Negev Highlands; this region receives from 20 to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The C H stretching around 3000 wavenumbers, there isn t much else you can identify. Camphor is fairly simple, so there is no anything other than the carbonyl and some C H stretching. The spectrum of isoborneol should show an OH peak, though because it s a solid sample, the peak won t be as broad as those seen for OH peaks in liquid samples. My guess is that the peak at ~3600 wavenumbers is the OH group. However, in my result, the wave doesn t seem to be clearly showed. It probably means that my isoborneol sample has retained some amount of the precursor, either because the reaction didn t go to completion or because my purification procedure was inadequate. Borneol and isoborneol contain an asymmetric carbon atom (denoted by an asterisk), and therefore each of them exists in two optically active forms and one inactive racemic form ( , +, and В±). Borneol has an endo configuration; in other hand, its isomer, isoborneol, has an exo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To: Agricultural Officer (Plant Production and Protection), Regional office of Africa, FAO From: Sharmin Sampat, Policy Officer (Food Security and Nutrition, FIRST Programme), FAO Executive Summary: Global food demand is expected to grow by 110 per cent over the next 30 to 35 years as a consequence of increased urbanization and the predicted rise in global population from 7.3 billion today to 9.7 billion by 20501. Overlying this scenario are changes in the global climate that will affect crop productivity. Cassavais the second most important source of calories after maize in some African countries, like Angola and Mozambique, but for the rural poor, it represents a much larger proportion of daily calories and provides an important source of proteins, vitamins and micronutrients1. The vision for cassava is that cassava will spur rural industrial development and raise incomes for producers, processors and traders and contribute to the food security status of its producing and consuming households6. The strategy applied can consist of identifying, in a systematic manner, the opportunities and constraints of cassava at each stage of the commodity development cycle. The opportunities to increase efficiency of cassava crop mainly relies on the modification of the structure and architecture, and improving the genetic yield of the crop6. Introduction: Cassava provides the livelihood of up to 500 million farmers and countless processors and traders around the world. It is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Courage In Amelia Earhart Courage is the price that Life exacts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not, knows no release from little things. Amelia Earhart. Life is not meant for the meek. It is not meant to be lived in a box or in a comfort zone. As Amelia Earhart so eloquently put it, it takes courage to experience peace in this life. I have had to embody that as I follow my dreams and fight for my goals. My goal is to be a pediatric genetic counselor. To accomplish this goal, I have had to use courage to face adversity, step outside my comfort zone, and strive for what I want. You can t just sit back and wait for what you want. It s not enough to just say you want something and go through the motions. You have to fiercely and actively seek out what you want and prove that you are the best choice. It may not always work out in your favor, but it is better to fail then to never try at all. The soul that knows it not knows no release from the little things: knows not the livid loneliness of fear. Amelia Earhart. When trying to accomplish your goals, not everything will go as planned. Very rarely will you just be handed what you want. When you work for something, sometimes you will fail. You will be told you weren t the best choice or you were good, but just not what they were looking for. And it hurts. It beats you down and steals your confidence. But failure is the best teacher. Failure makes you stronger and builds you up to be the best you can. It can be challenging to try again ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason for all of this bustle is because Paris hosts some of the most famous attractions in the world! The Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Centre Pompidou are at the center of these attractions in Paris. Known for its renowned art, the Louvre is one of Paris most famous art museums. The tower stands in the seventh arrondissement (district), is rich in history, and is one of the most visited attractions in Paris. The Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 for the World s Fair and was the main attraction at the fair. It was constructed to commemorate the French Continental Army. This memorial was no easy feat to build. Each of the 18,00 pieces used to construct the tower was specifically made for this creation. Two and a half million thermally assembled rivets later, this 324 metre tower was successfully finished. Although many people think Gustave Eiffel is to credit for much of this creation, there are two other men, Maurice Koechlin and Emile Nouguier, who should be credited. According to Life Science.com, Koechlin and Nouguier are actually the ones who came up with the original designs for the tower. Thanks to the work of Koechlin, Nouguier, and Eiffel, the tower is Paris s most visited attraction. According to Frommer s Guide to Paris, on a high day, the tower can host over 32,000 people. That adds up to about 7 million visitors a year. When visiting this historic monument, a tourist should keep in mind the rich history and process involved in making this big ... I have always considered the CD to be the greatest technological advancement (as a medium of music) of my generation because it was the first digital audio format made readily available to the general public. As far as obtaining MP3 audio files goes, there are thousands of web sites dedicated to supplying the files (mp3.com, mp3.box.sk, mp3.lycos.com). An Internet surfer can search for music in MP3 format, and by the simple click of a button, have the music transferred to his or her computer in as little as five minutes or even less. While a portion of MP3 files in existence are created by individual, unsigned music artists, there is also a large amount of commercial, copyright protected music freely available for download from the Internet. This is the beginning of a complicated argument. Now that it is possible for consumers to download copyrighted material free of charge, major record labels have a great fear. Tons of people use it [MP3] online, but most big record labels have not embraced it for fear of privacy, since the format also allows for widespread copying of illegal files. (Sullivan 1999). • 10. Service Breadth And Reliability Of Intermodal Service Intermodal service evolves The full range of interdependent intermodal (IMDL) transportation and distribution services have evolved in recent years and now offer the service breadth and reliability necessary to play an important part in domestic and global supply chains. Intermodal was once a slow trailers on rails alternative to inter city trucking with less than dependable transit times typically available only between limited sets of origin and destination cities. The service was not integrated with other transportation and distribution components of the supply chain. Today, intermodal offers dependable, flexible and cost effective linehaul, dray and transload options for large and small shippers moving products through logistics networks, whether across North America between major population centers, or as final miles distribution of an international supply chain. Increasingly, Intermodal is being leveraged by shippers over relatively short distances at a cost that s competitive with OTR (Over The Road) trucking service and with scheduled and reliable transit times. Intermodal s value proposition for shippers centers around the concept of using multiple, coordinated and highly managed transportation and distribution services. These services consist of off dock and terminal drayage, ocean container to domestic equipment transloading, rail linehaul and destination drayage to effect efficient, cost effective and risk managed supply chains. Dementia Praecox: a psychotic disorder characterized by loss of contact with the environment, by noticeable deterioration of functioning in everyday life, and by disintegration of one s personality. What we know as schizophrenia today has been around for at least two centuries, but not named until the early 1900 s by Kraepelin. In order to fully understand this disease you need to know the types and symptoms, the causes, and the treatment and recovery. Schizophrenia is a disease that is on a spectrum, there are five different subtypes. Paranoid schizophrenia is when a person is delusional and suspicious of others plotting against them or their family members. Disorganized schizophrenia also known as hebephrenia includes hallucinations as well as illogical and incoherent thought and behaviors. Little or no interest in things, withdrawing and being in a constant daze describes catatonic schizophrenia. Sick Around the World SW June 5, 2013 Sick Around The World Video Summary This movie went around the world to different countries to show the comparisons and differences in healthcare compared to each other and the U.S. The first country that was visited was the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom spends 8.3% of their GDP on healthcare. The citizens pay nothing for premiums, all of it is paid trough taxation. Some services require co pay, but all young people and all elderly are exempt from drug co pays. The United Kingdom calls their healthcare system socialized medicine ; the government provides for and pays for all healthcare. Because of this smart card, Taiwan has the lowest administrative costs in the world. Unfortunately Taiwan is not bringing in enough money to support its healthcare services. The fifth country that was visited was Switzerland. Switzerland spends 11.6% of its GDP on healthcare. Citizens pay $750 a month for premiums. If you are too poor to pay for your premiums, the government will pay. Citizens pay 10% of the cost of services for a co pay. Switzerland also used the social insurance model. 95% of the population already had voluntary insurance when they country switched systems. All citizens are required to have coverage. Switzerland shows that in a high capitalist nation with powerful insurance and pharmaceutical industries, universal coverage is possible. Insurance companies are not allowed to make a profit off of basic care and are not able to select only young and healthy applicants. The government sets the prices on drugs, but the insurers and providers negotiate on all other prices. Switzerland has the second most expensive system behind the U.S. The Swiss do not have gatekeepers, some insurance plans may require them or may give a discount for using them. • 15. How Does Edgar Allan Poe Use Allusions In The Raven Dark romantic writers explores the evil sides of humanity, such as Edgar Allan Poe, when he exposes readers to the dangers of loss and isolation. One midnight when the narrator was reminiscing over his lost Lenore, a raven flew in his window and confronted him. He loses himself and reality the more he talks with the raven, as he longs to see his lost love, Lenore. In stanza fourteen of The Raven, Poe uses several allusions and imagery to show the narrator s growing mental instability and paranoia due to living in solitude and his never ending love for the missed Lenore. Poe uses imagery to identify the point when the narrator starts going crazy. The narrator first imagines the air thickening, and perfume filling the air. He notices, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer (Poe 79). He fantasizes a nice scent in the air, that is not there. He then hears footsteps in another room, which Poe describes it by using figurative language to appeal to the hearing sense. Foot falls tinkled on the tufted floor (Poe 80). While staring at the raven, the narrator believes that there is something else in his house, creating the scent of perfume and making the footsteps.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the belief that something else besides himself and the raven are in the narrator s house, he imagines that the footsteps were swung by Seraphim (Poe 80). It is an allusion to mystic creatures in the Bible, who circles God and praises him. He thinks that they have come to visit him and to take his pain away. Another allusion that Poe makes is the narrator s wish for Nepenthe, a drink to forget all sorrows and banish grief. Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore! (Poe 83). In Homer s The Odyssey, nepenthe is used on Helen to make her forget her home. The narrator in The Raven wishes for the drug, so he can forget about Lenore, his remorse for her, and the ominous ... As technology, has rapidly developed over the past two decades, and continues to evolve at a staggering pace leading into the future, people have taken to the World Wide Web (WWW) as an extension of basic communication capability. WWW communication allows people to quickly reach out to one another throughout the course of a busy day. As a result of enhanced communication capability, and a surge in use of communication over the WWW, areas of private professional and public political life have seen substantial change in recent years. Positive Public Attitude The daily routines of many individuals have only gotten more hectic in recent years, despite the advantages of having increased technology. As such, it has become much more difficult for the average worker to simply reach out with a phone call, or stop in for a face to face conversation with other professionals. To assist the busy lives of individuals, web based communication, through secure means, has become more prevalent. From communicating with a utility company about an electric, water, or gas account, to seeking medical advice from a family doctor, secure messaging systems are making their mark. Both works were written around the late 1800 s, a time when men dominated the lives of women. Each story contains a woman protagonist who seeks to understand herself better rather than continuing to conform into the standard societal stereotype of women. Both Nora and Edna grew to feel suffocated by their husbands orders, in which they clearly showed traits of feminism. With so much data available, there is an opportunity and advantage for companies to utilize information systems to capture and make sense of this information. There are a variety of information system modules that are available, including Customer Relationship management (CRM), Supply Chain management (SCM), Human Resource management (HRMS). While they all have their own emphasis, the advantages of each of these modules include the ability to store data, create reports that enable management to make sense out of the data, and share this information, in real time, throughout the organization. With good input data, information systems can provide a company with a competitive advantage in the marketplace. • 25. Analysis of Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart Chinua Achebe s 1958 novel Things Fall Apart marked a significant turning point not only for literature, but the world, because the novel is an attempt to blend the conflicting identities and ideologies of Africa in the wake of colonization. The novel depicts the destructive tension that arises between the traditions of the Igbo peopleand white colonizers, but, perhaps contrary to the reader s expectation, it does not present either side as holding the ethical high ground. Rather, the novel suggests that both the Igbo and the white missionaries perpetuate repressive ideologies, and furthermore, that the destructive effects of these ideologies are visited upon both Ikemefuna and Okonkwo. Okonkwo s larger narrative arc actually suggests an ideal third path that discards the , because the novel blends elements of African and Western literature in order to tell a story that is simultaneously a tragedy in the Greek sense and clearly, essentially African. By examining Okonkwo s story in detail, it will be possible to see how Achebe uses the particular narrative elements of Things Fall Apartin order to demonstrate a potential bridge between the two societies which in the novel are seemingly so far apart. To state that the 1958 publication of Things Fall Apart was a significant moment for literature and the world is not a particularly bold statement, because its centrality to the understanding of African society pre and post colonialism, as well as its particular historical ... Tension between the principles of responsible government and federalism was anticipated by the framers of the constitution, predicting that the one of the two will eventually cancel the other one out. This tension surfaced in the majorities decision in Engineers and is explored using the historical evidence of the framers intentions, the ideas that influenced them, and Justice Gageler s critique of the Engineers decision. What is the real purpose of arts and physical education? How does art and sports take part in my culture? How should we, as a culture value sports and art? We should value art and sport more as part of our culture. Dr. Dana Gioia in his 2007 Commencement address to Stanford University states, The role of the culture, however, must go beyond economics. • 32. Latin Language In The Latin Language The Latin language was originally spoken in small groups along the Tiber River, but spread with the increase of Roman political power. It first spread throughout Italy and most of western and southern Europe, along with central and western Mediterranean coastal regions of Africa. Today s romance languages developed from spoken Latinof various parts of the Roman Empire. From the middle ages to comparatively recent times, Latin was the most common used language in the West for scholarly and literary purposes (Posner and Sala). Until the latter of the 20th century, Latin s use was required in the liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church. During the Classical Period, there were three types of Latin in use: Classical written, Classical oratorical, and ordinary colloquial Latin, which was used by the average speaker of the language. Spoken Latin continued to break off from normal grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. During Classical and immediate Post Classical periods, there were many inscriptions that proved spoked Latin, but after 3rd century CE, many texts were written in Vulgar Latin. However, in Early 4th and 5th centuries, St. Jerome and St. Augustine wrote good literary Late Latin. The Latin language continued to evolve in two ways: the basis of local spoken forms morphed into Romance Languages, and it was continued in a standardized Dendy 2 form throughout the Middle Ages as a language of religion and scholarship. Imitation of Classical and Post Classical models continued into the 6th century. There was also continuity of literary tradition, even after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. Research in the late 20th century suggested that Romanization was more widespread and only the scholarly men were imbued with Roman Values. Because Latin died out in Britain, it is believed that the language was only used by the elite. Some believe that the language died out because of the genocide of the Roman British, and evolution of the Anglo Saxon and Romano Celtic into the new society (Posner and Sala). Ken Black believes that Latin is dead. Furthermore, the distinctiveness of the approach is that it draws attention to deviance as the outcome of social imputations and the exercise of social control. Labelling theory is very complex, making it quite different than other theories. Instead of looking at why some social groups commit more crime, labelling theory asks why some people committing some action come to be defined as deviant, while others do not. Labelling theory is also interested in the effect of labelling individuals. As well, labelling theorists note that most people commit crimes at some time in their lives but not everyone becomes defined as deviant or criminal. How does this process of defining a person as deviant work? Look at a situation where a policeman holds stereotypes about typical criminals. They use these stereotypes to interpret the behaviour of suspected deviants. In other words, the closer a person comes to the stereotype held by the police, the more likely they are to be arrested, charged, and convicted of the crime. Both the Italian and Northern European Renaissance had interest in changing their ideals in individualism, humanism, and classicism, which has a large impact on their cultures, and arts. Many of the literary works of this time expressed the same interests between Italy and Northern Europe. Examples can be seen in the writings of Petrarch (Italian) and Michel de Montaigne (Northern European). Both of these writers expressed the importance and idealism of humanism. The literature during this time was a wonderful looking glass into the similarities and differences of Italy and Northern Europe. After looking at the Italian and Northern Europe Renaissances, one can see the many similarities between the arts and cultures, but the differences of these cultures are not ... Since the story is narrated by a omniscient being that is everywhere with Billy Pilgrim, the reader gets a first hand account of every event in his life. Also Billy is very relaxed and accepting all things around him. A good example of this is Billy s habit of following every death with so it goes . Propaganda posters of a character named Rosie the Riveter was one of the most successful ways. Yet, despite the fact that millions of women proved themselves to be good workers, Rosie disappeared when the war ended, proving that she was regarded as purely a recruitment aid by the government who never really wanted women in the workforce. Out of the six million women who joined the workforce, half worked in defense industries. These women were all referred to as Rosies. Some of the most significant Rosies were what inspired the creation of the strong Rosie the Riveter character. One of these significant Rosies was Rose Bonavita who worked as a riveter at the General Motors Eastern Aircraft Division in New York. She is known for setting a production record by drilling 900 holes and driving 300 rivets in a torpedo bomber in one six hour shift. Rosalind P. Walter was also a riveter, who was the inspiration of the song Rosie the Riveter that was written in 1942 and became very popular (Strobel). The first image of Rosie the Riveter was created in 1943 by Norman Rockwell. Mary Keefe, the model, was actually not a riveter, but a dental hygienist. Norman s image was speculative and was based on Michelangelo s Isaiah from the Sistine Chapel. The actual image is of a muscular Rosie who is taking a lunch break which appeared on the cover of the Memorial Day issue of the Saturday Evening Post (Strobel).
