Cultural Identity Essay
A person s cultural identity is difficult to define because it s comprised of many different aspects of
life, and it s always changing. I m 16 years old and I am 5 5 feet tall. I was born in Mexico but once I
was 3 years old we moved to the United States. My ethnicity is latino. Many view me as caucasian
because as a kid I was really blonde and also my skin color was very light. Also many of us in my
family were very thick and i was really skinny. In the part we lived in California there were a lot of
skinny people. One aspect of my life is the sports I play. I have played over 5 different sports and that
is important because it makes me who i mostly am today. I have played track, water polo, basketball,
football, soccer, softball, and volleyball. Also I was really known as an athlete once i played basketball
and made league. One sport particular that gets people s attention is track. Once they find out and my
time they are amazed of how fast I am. I believe that soccer and tack are really well known in my
family because of most of my family has played one of those two sports. Last but not least most of my
family is really athletic, so I would say that i get my genes from both my parents and grandparents.
Another aspect of my life is my clothes. My clothes when i was younger said a lot about where i was
from. I got a lot of hand me downs from my sisters and cousins. Also my mom would always make
sure with those clothes that we still looked respectful and nice. It was

Factors Influenced On Byatt s Works Essay
Factors influenced on Byatt s works There are several facts in Byatt s intellectual life which impacts
her fiction and nonfiction alike. Nevertheless, the supreme one that constituted the central number of
her works remains the influence of one particular Cambridge teacher and literary critic: Franklin
Raymond Leavis (1895 1978) who shaped Byatt s view on the moral importance of literature. It stands
worth to talk about him, because he not only influenced directly A.S Byatt on the other hand, he
formed the entire course of Angelo American 20th century literary criticism, an understanding of
which is vital to read Byatt s fiction. In an autobiographical gesture, her fictions often send their
heroines to Cambridge. Via the time Byatt went to all female Newnham College, Cambridge, in 1957
to get her B.A., Leavis, then 62, was the ruling intellectual, position he had engaged for 30 years.
Leavis, his wife Q.D. (Known as Queenie ) and their circle, which included such critics as I, A,
Richards and William Empson, applied great effect on the literary of the day. It stays hard now to
imagine Leavis as a radical, since he is so often critiqued for his exclusive and special judgments.
However, consider the shape of university life as it was found and then rejected by Leaves when he
entered Cambridge immediately after World War I. Until the last decades of the 19th century, taking
up the study of literature in the university meant studying the classics that means,

Child Labour Essay
Child labour is the practice of having children engage in economic activity, on part or full time basis.
The practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful to their physical and mental
development. Poverty, lack of good schools and growth of informal economy are considered as the
important causes of child labour in India.
The 2001 national census of India estimated the total number of child labour, aged 5 14, to be at 12.6
million. In 2001, out of a 12.6 million, about 12 million children in India were in a hazardous job.
UNICEF estimates that India with its larger population has the highest number of labourers in the
world less than 14 years of age, while sub Saharan African countries have the highest percentage of
children who are deployed as child labour. International Labour Organisation estimates that
agriculture at 60 percent is the largest employer of child labour in India, while United Nation s Food
and Agriculture Organisation estimates 70% of child labour is deployed in agriculture and related
activities. Outside of agriculture, child labour is observed in almost all informal sectors of the Indian
economy.
Companies including Gap, Primark, Monsanto and others have been criticised for child labour in their
products. The companies claim they have strict policies against selling products made by underage
kids, but there are many links in a supply chain making it difficult to police them all. In 2011, after
three years of Primark s effort, BBC

Garden Of Eden Research Paper
The Jewish people believe that the current world is a place to prepare oneself for Olam Ha Ba, the
World to Come. According to the Talmud, all of Israel has a share in the World to Come, but it is not
equal. A righteous person will have a greater share than that of an ordinary person. The place of
spiritual reward for the righteous is known as Gan Eden, the Garden of Eden. This is not the same
garden in which Adam and Eve lived. The Garden of Eden is a spiritual utopia in which only the
righteous directly go to. An average person would first go to a place of punishment and/or
purification, known as Gehinnom or She ol. The time spent in She ol continues no longer than 12
months before people are able to ascend to the World to Come. Those that ... Show more content on

Jewish tradition states, For when a man departs from this world... [he] meets Adam, the first man,
witting at the gate of Gan Eden, ready to welcome with joy all those who have observed the
commands of their Master. Round him are many righteous men, those who in this life have kept clear
of the path to Gehinnom and followed the part of Gan Eden. Upon arriving in Gan Eden, souls
encounter the light of Gan Eden through the River of Light. Tradition states that the river is created
from perspiration that flows from the heavenly hosts as they fervently sing glory to the Highest. The
river serves the purpose of purification so that one may emerge and come before the Master of the
Universe in a completely pure state. Within Gan Eden, there is a lower and an upper level. Lower Gan
Eden serves as a transit between She ol and Upper Gan Eden. In Lower Gan Eden souls continue to
prepare for entry into the Upper Gan Eden. The Zohar, a work from within the Kabbalah, states that
upper Gan Eden is reserved for the pious of a higher grade. Upon entering upper Gan Eden, the soul is
once again purified in the River of Light. The second purification heals the soul of any remaining
defilements. Upper Gan Eden is said to consist of celestial music and organized schools for
continuous learning of the Torah. Within the upper level, there are many other levels

some of the best live music and bands in the country. The Brisbane River has played an important part
in the settlement, development and evolution of Brisbane. You can read more about it on our dedicated

climates. The Brisbane River has flooded numerous times with several serious floods resulting in loss
of life and massive repair bills. Read more about the flooding history of the Brisbane river on our
Brisbane River Flood History page. Despite the hilly areas of Brisbane, much of the city exists on the
low lying flood plains, with several suburban creeks throughout the suburbs joining the Brisbane
River. These low lying areas on the water s edge increase the risk of flooding, with Brisbane seeing
devastating floods in February 1893, January 1974 and more recently in January 2011. There have
been significant changes to the city s water management since 2011, with backflow valves and many
other flood mitigation works having been implemented to ensure against such damage in the future.

Eric Foner Reconstruction Summary
Eric Foner s A Short History of Reconstruction begins with a short historiography overviewing how
historians views of reconstruction has changed. He does this by introducing the first understanding of
reconstruction, and then moves to different schools of thought that progressed through time until the
latest interpretation today. The first understanding of reconstruction, in which the Dunning School had
the largest influence, pushed the idea that the South gracefully accepted their defeat, and just wanted
to rejoin the Union and govern again. Under this school, white southerners wanted freedmen to
succeed, and were ready to be cooperative. However, against Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson s
wishes, Radical Republicans sought to punish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Progressives had a very unfavorable view of reconstruction. The progressives believed that Johnson
was a victim of the radical republicans, who painted themselves with the moral high ground, but only
favored black suffrage and rights as a way to control the South politically and economically. Foner
then provides some survivors and black historians, like W.E.B. Du Bois, that dissented from the
previous rendering of reconstruction. Reconstruction, for these historians, was an idealistic effort to
transition the country from slavery to a racial harmony. These writers also paint freedmen as real
changemakers in reconstruction, not just people affected by white policy. Foner then writes of the
revisionists who drew from these dissenters, and from new scholarship and evidence. Foner also notes
that this revisionary spirit could come from a change in racial attitudes, associated with the modern
civil rights movements. The revisionists go against the thought of Johnson as a victim, and instead
clear the stigma associated with the radicals who had gotten him impeached. They write that the
reconstruction legislation was not forced through by radials, and instead had public and congressional
support. They also try to erase the belief that the South was a victim, and instead wrote of the services
that the republicans brought to the South, like public schools, equal citizenship, and the rebuilding of
the southern economy and reassociates corruption with the South, instead of the

how many of us have an application on our phones that lock the usage while driving? I found this to

Born in 1934, Jerry Uelsmann grew up an inner city kid of Detroit. In high school, Uelsmann worked
as an assistant for a photography studio; he eventually photographed weddings. Uelsmann went to
Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) where he met Minor White, who introduced [him] to the

Bruce Davidson, Peter Turner and Car Chiaraenza, with whom he held frequent discussions on how
photography could be different. After RIT, Uelsmann went to Indiana University where he changed his

Uelsmann s work was not well received in the photography community. His creations were not
considered photography; however, he was well received in the art community. John Szarkowski hosted
a solo exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in 1967. Uelsmann was considered iconoclastic and set
out to convince critics that photography offered alternatives to the conventional purist sensibility...
Uelsmann debated that photos could evoke elusive states of feeling and thinking triggered by
irrational and imaginative juxtaposition (Kay). Uelsmann has succeeded in finding a following among
photographers and artist alike. In the past forty years, Uelsmann s work has been exhibited in over 100
solo shows throughout the US and overseas. He has permanent instillations in museums worldwide
(Taylor). Uelsmann s photos are now revered for their original technical form as well as their surreal

Essay about Shyamalan s The Sixth Sense
Shyamalan s The Sixth Sense
With reference to two scenes from Shyamalan s The Sixth Sense examine the way in which the
audiences perception of the film changes having viewed its dramatic ending. Evaluate the importance
of the two scenes in the film as a whole.
When the dramatic conclusion of Shyamalan s The Sixth Sense has been viewed the audiences
perception changes. They start to understand how different techniques have been used to create the
illusion that Dr Malcolm Crowe is alive and how Shyamalan s has duped his audience. The Sixth

It appears that we have come in in the middle of a scene and any conversation has already taken place.
The tension that is portrayed in this scene makes the audience feel that Crowe is not welcome and that
is one of the reason why they are sat in silence waiting for Cole. The positioning of the chairs also
makes the viewer think that some form of communication has taken place. Lynn Sear s body language
is also expressive of the tension and uncomfortable ness of the room. She looks down at her hands and
picks at her nails. It shows that she is anxious and worried. The audience may also feel slightly
inferior to Crowe and she does not know what to say. This gives the audience the impression that this
is an everyday situation but one that is knew to Lynn Sear. The first time viewer witnesses nothing out
of the ordinary.
When Cole arrives home from school he stops dead in the doorway. The audience presumes that this is
from a range of mixed emotions and feelings. Cole appears to be scared and shocked, there is also a
slight look of betrayal on his face. This could be because his mother has invited Dr Crowe into their
home. This is meant to be his place of sanctuary and it has been invaded. Once again the first time
viewer feels the uncomfortable tension in the den of the Sear household.

White People And Native Americans
During history, white settlers and the U.S. government did not always have the best of relationships.
Many wars were fought, and many lives were lost from both sites. The U.S. government and white
settlers has had negative attitudes toward the Native Americans. Native Americans were not seen as
equal to white people, so white settlers and U.S. government did not treat them fairly. The United
States government also tried assimilation as a solution to their Native American problem.
The relationship of the Americans and the Native Americans at the beginning were rocky. Many
Americans thought that they had a God given right to spread their culture to the whole world. Native
Americans would receive negative effects from this idea of many Americans had. Native Americans
had a very different culture to Americans, this made the Americans think Native Americans were not
civilized and that they were savages. It also didn t help that during the gold rush, a way to get to the
goldfield of California (459) and many places with gold was to get through the land of Native
Americans. That adds another factor to the equation of reasons to oppress the Native Americans. So
the theories of racial superiority (459) of many Americans and the land Native Americans had that
white settlers feel like they should own, is a recipe for the growing tensions of the United States
government with the Native Americans. This would soon lead with many wars between the two sides.

How Did Confucianism Lead To The Decline Of The Ming Dynasty
Qing made slight changes to Ming culture when they conquered China in 1644. Allowing for more
continuity than change allowed for stability in China and with this stability China was able to continue
on to new heights.
To stay united as one the Qing Dynasty adopted the Ming Dynasty political system in order for them
to stay strong. Although they adopted the Ming government platform they still made slight changes in
the government that would suit their dynasty. The Ming dynasty ran by Emperor Hongwu, who made
the government very political active by scholars. Who aided rulers to become emperors. Also making

Confucianism originated from Kong Fuzi a Chinese philosopher around 551 479 BCE. It was practice

Importance Of Propaganda In Journalism
Propaganda Propaganda regards truth and reality. It is deceptive, purposely less than honest, biased,
devoid of a sense of fairness. It attempts to manipulate someone s ideas, actions and attitudes.
Propaganda can be used in journalism by manipulating the story to be exaggerated or simply false. A
journalist or public relations specialist could use a false or photo shopped image in a
newspaper/webpage to sway their audience into thinking the subject of their story is true and not to
their audiences knowledge it has been manipulated.
Semantics Semantics studies how words came to be and what they mean. In a journalistic setting when
covering a story, be sure of what you are actually portraying and what you re trying to say. There are
clear distinctions between what reporting, inferences, and judgements are.
Communitarianism Communitarianism has emphasis on society and the larger majority of a group. In
journalism or public relations and individual would look at what brings people together. For example
(fiction), covering a story about how MSU s Homecoming parade brought helping hands together as
participants prepared to rain proof their floats last minute, which made for a successful homecoming
parade. A non Communitarianism could have reported how the rain ruined the parade and many
townspeople were outraged by the cities/schools decision to cancel the parade.
Libertarianism Libertarianism has emphasis on the individual. In public relations, by having a

Ghost The Musical Analysis
Ghost: The Musical
Director Douglas E. Stark s adaption of Ghost (based off of Bruce Rubin s story) turns a classic story
into a musical. Stark has worked with Beef and Boards for 40 years and, in 2008, joined Hillcrest
Asset Management as a Managing Director. Beef and Boards is celebrating its 45th anniversary season
with productions such as Mamma Mia, Million Dollar Quartet, and Elf: The Musical. Beef and Boards
theatre in Indianapolis, Indiana made this director s dream of a specific musical come true with their
production of Ghost: The Musical; which I was able to watch on Thursday, October 26, 2017. The
production featured a unique set (featuring an interesting stage paired with strong lighting)
accompanied by a talented cast including the performers, director, and technical crew. The simplest
description for Ghost is a romance gone wrong when tragedy strikes. The curtain opens on a happy
couple, Sam Wheat (Eddie Egan) and Molly Jensen (Andrea Laxton), moving into their new
apartment; however, after a few scenes, a robbery causes his death. Carl Bruner (Patrick Michael
Joyce), Sam s best friend, had been the true reason of his demise. The musical was, to say the least, a
success.
The plot of this theatre piece features characteristics of a comedy, mystery, action, and science fiction
writing. The unique combination of these characteristics gives every member of the audience the
opportunity to enjoy the piece. However, I do believe, the director should have allowed for

Minorities Dare To Lead In The Accounting Profession Essay
According to the latest US Census, Blacks or African Americans make up 13.6% (42,020,743) of the
total US population (308,745,538) but only 10.8% of the employed market and less than 9% of those
classified as Accountants and Auditors. (nabainc.org). According to Data USA, over 75% of the
accounting profession was dominated by Whites or Caucasians and you ask what the importance of
minorities daring to lead in the accounting profession is? It is simple, there was a time when we could
not lead at all. There was a time in history when we could not lead let alone enter the accounting
profession which was simply an injustice. In fact, the very first black woman to become a CPA, Ms.
Mary T. Washington, did not earn her credential until 1943, when CPA licensing had been around
since 1896. For those reasons, minorities should dare to lead in the accounting profession because
there was a time when we could not lead and we could not have a say. In addition, minorities should
dare to lead because there was a time when we were not recognized for what we could contribute to
the profession. Caucasian CPA s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Separate Peace Rhetorical Analysis
Paul uses many tactics throughout his imprisonment in order to keep some control over his and Annie
s alliance. One effective method he uses is flattery, complimenting Annie in order to keep her happy
and her mood stable. His use of this move is demonstrated on page 60 in the novel, when he calls
Annie his favorite nurse. He uses it again on page 107, telling Annie that she could not be old enough
to remember the chapter plays, hinting at how she looks way younger than she actually is. Paul uses
this strategy to lighten Annie s mood and keep her happy, which is vital to him because Annie can
become very destructive and impatient when angry, consequently being the main source of Paul s pain
throughout the book. In addition to flattery, Paul

Protostar Nuclear Fusion
Just like humans, everything in the universe has a purpose. From the beginning of the moment
anything is created into existence it grows and fulfills its purpose. Stars are no different. Every day,
stars are created by gravity which pulls the star together, the star builds up heat and pressure, and then
fusion begins. The process in which a star goes through is known as a star s life cycle. All stars start at
the basic nebula phase, change to a protostar, and go on to the main sequence star phase. After the
main sequence star phase, there are two different divisions that are determined by the mass of the star.
If a star is known as a low mass star it will have different life changes than a high mass star. A low
mass star will become a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A white dwarf is the leftover core of a planetary nebula. A white dwarf is a low mass star that is
virtually dead. Since it is a leftover core it is extremely dense. Inside of a white dwarf, no fusion takes
place. The white dwarf will continue to give off light for about 20 million years and is theorized that it
will then become a black dwarf. As of now, no black dwarfs have been discovered, simply because the
universe is too young. A black dwarf gives off no light and is also cold, compared to the other stars in
their life cycles. These black and white dwarfs burn through their fuel very slowly, which would be
why they last for millions of

What Is The Pagan Kingdom
The Pagan Kingdom was known for their many holidays and worshipping several gods. Today
December is the month to celebrate holidays like Christmas, Hanukkah and kwanzaa but in the ancient
Pagan Kingdom they celebrated a holiday they called Yule. According to Zoe Mintz, Yule marked the
winter solstice and celebrated the rebirth of the sun and the beginning of winter. To celebrate Yule the
people made a yule log and set it on fire to burn in order to conquer the darkness . Some people also
celebrated by feasting until the log died out which usually took around twelve days. The log was
usually lit on December 21st. Traditionally, yule logs were made of logs, twine, pinecones, berries,
mistletoes and other natural things. It was said that near

The Importance Of Traffic Laws
Laws are rules that bind all people living in a community. Laws protect our general safety and ensure
our rights as citizens against abuse by other people, organizations and by the government. Laws exist
at the local, state and national level. There are laws that protect the rights of citizens such as the Bill of
Rights that protect our freedom of speech, religion and the press. There are laws that protect people
from discrimination of race, gender and age and disabilities. There are also rules and laws to ensure
safety on the roads. Laws that protect citizens on the street are known as traffic laws. Traffic laws have
developed over time to help facilitate the orderly and timely flow of traffic safely. There are a number
of reasons traffic laws are necessary such as safety, to reduce the number of fatalities and injuries on
the roads. According to the national safety council, an estimated 40,000 people died from motor
vehicle crashes in 2016 a rise of 6% from 2015. The national safety council suggests that lower gas
prices and increased motor mileage coupled with risky activities while driving such as texting, playing
with the radio and speeding are responsible for the rise in fatalities and injuries. Most people
recognize that driving and vehicles can be dangerous for everyone on the roads including passengers,
pedestrians, cyclists; it is imperative that all drivers abide the traffic laws. Many people become
careless drivers and become desensitized to

The beauty of blue eyes
The Bluest Eyes is a story of a black girl named Pecola who dreams of having the ideal family
portrayed in the story of Dick and Jane the white American family: She comes to realize that this life
she dreams of is unattainable since she is black in a white society. She is enamored with Shirley
Temple, a beautiful blue eyed white girl. Pecola feels that if she has blue eyes she would be beautiful
and endeared to others. Morrison s novel describes how Pecola and her family strive to live up to the
white standards that are imposed on them by a white society but find this goal to be unattainable.
Pecola is made to feel that her blackness is ugly and not valued, only to have her feeling validated by
others. Despite what she experiences, Pecola never gives up on her dream of beautiful blue eyes, only
leading her into despair. The story begins with the description of Pecola s family : they live in a
storefront because they were poor and black and they stayed there because they believed they were
ugly (Morrison 38). Unfortunately, Pecola s feelings of ugliness are reinforced by her own parents; her
father Cholly s ugliness came from his despair, dissipation, and violence directed toward pretty things
and weak people (Morrison 38). Pecola states the following regarding her Mother Pauline: But I
knowed she was ugly. Head full of pretty hair, but Lord she was ugly (Morrison 126). Pecola was
doomed to a life of self doubt and

Ida B Wells Research Paper
Ida B. Wells is a name that should always be synonymous with African American modern history.
Being born during the Civil War in the South and living her life through Reconstruction, history would
play a huge role with her life. So when given the choice of being a background character or to take
center stage, Wells found her spot light and shone like the morning sun. The South would do its best to
stifle her voice both as child, though she would not know it, and as an adult. Yet Wells would show the
strength and determination of an African American woman and prove that she was as much a part of
the large scale Civil Rights Movement as her male counterparts.
Certain instances in history really help shape who Wells would become. For example, Wells was born

While the South would continue to grow in racial violence and inequality, Wells would attend Shaw
University (though the president would later expel her) and become a teacher in Memphis, Tennessee
(a more progressive area of the South, compared to Holly Springs, Mississippi) Wells would become a
major influence in the South after a day in 1883. One Saturday while riding the train into Woodstock,
a conductor removed her from the first class car she was riding in, that she had paid to ride in, to put
her in the smoking car. She refused to be treated as less than she was and got off the train. She would
in turn sue the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad Company and win, only to have it overturned. Wells
would take this and over the next few years she would speak out about the racial injustice across the
South. After the lynching of three men in 1892, she would travel the South and learn of lynching
stories in other parts of the South, documenting them as she went. Her writings would end up in
African American newspapers as well as her own, the Free Speech. Regardless of losing her teaching
job and threats against her life, Wells continued her

Chocolate Art Research Paper
Chocolate art!! Yep this week we are combining two of my favorite things chocolate and art. Before I
explain the process to this I have to admit working with chocolate is not easy. I used chocolate chips if
you recreate this you may want to use any melts that you can find at the craft store. Candy melts are a
lot less temperamental than chocolate and you will have a better finished product than I did. I was
trolling through Pinterest and I found this I how much fun it would be to recreate this cake in honor of
my family on valentines day. You could also use this same method to recreate some pictures that your
children have drawn and use it on a special cake for them. I teach cake decorating for Wilton and we

The finished cake had the heads of all my family on it as well as my cat and the outline of our house.
Everyone had a blast getting a piece that had their head attached. This is a fun way to bring kids into
he kitchen and to create a one of a kind cake that will be special to the whole family. Don t worry
about how the finished product looks, even if everything breaks and you sprinkle the chocolate over
the top it was still fun had by the whole family and it is still yummy cake so it is a win win :) Get your

The Effects Of Bordetella Pertussis On An Acute...
Introduction
Bordetella pertussis (known as whooping cough) was discovered by Bordet and Gengou as an acute
respiratory tract infection. (1 2)
The highly contagious B. pertussis is a strictly aerobic gram negative coccobacillus that grows best
between 35 37 ºC, and is transmitted through inhalation of aerosol droplets. It is one of ten known
Bordetella species, and accounts for 50 million cases annually, in which 300,000 of them result in
death. (1 3)
Pathogenesis
There are four stages in B. pertussis infection. The first stage is attachment. Filamentous
hemagglutinin (FHA), a type of protein, along with fimbrae (FIM), a cell surface structure, serve as
major adhesins (for adhesion) for pertussis. (1) They firstly attach to ciliated epithelial cells in the
nasopharynx, and then begin to multiply. (4)
The second stage is evasion of host defenses. Pertussis uses adenylate cyclase toxin (ACT) and
pertussis toxin (PT), a complex bacterial toxin, to evade host defenses. ACT inhibits the motility and
activation of phagocytes and T lymphocytes, while PT targets the lung s immune system. This
prevents neutrophils from reaching the respiratory tract quickly, and also promotes the infection
through macrophages. PT also causes lymphocytosis, which is an influx of lymphocytes in the blood.
(1 2)
The third stage is local damage. Pulmonary lesions, necrosis, and peeling of ciliated bronchial
epithelium occurs. This is accomplished by tracheal cytoxin (TCT) and dermonecrotic toxins,

Martin Luther Private Confession
The placement of corporate confession in the Sunday liturgical service would diminish the
significance of observance Private confession. This would cause an unending debate on practicing
private confession and whether private confession should also be considered a sacrament within the
Lutheran church. Private confession was a rite introduced by the Celtic missionaries and mandated by
the Council of Trent to be observed once a year especially before receiving communion. However, the
abuse of penance through the selling of indulgences caused Martin Luther to seek reform on the
corrupted practices of the papacy of the Catholic church, therefore leading many believers of the new
church skeptical of continuing the practice of private confession. However, Luther argued that
observance of private confession was an imperative of every Christian to taken part in, evidenced in
many of Luther s writings, specifically the Babylonian Captivity and The Sacrament of the Body and
Blood of Christ Against the Fanatics.
Due to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Luther s The Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ Against the Fanatics, Luther lists private
confessions as one of the three most important confessions Christians should observe in their spiritual
journey. Luther strongly believed that Private confession serves a good purpose for the simple
childlike people because it gives an opportunity to instruct the people, hear what they believe and to
teach them to pray Luther s view on Private confession led him to revise the practice of this rite,
which included the reflection of one s faith and external behavior, an admission of one s sinfulness
leading to penitent s willful confession of sins and the minister s

Why Is Finitude Important In Malcolm X s Life
Human beings are not as perfect as we d like to believe. We are constrained by our abilities, actions,
knowledge, and death to live a life that can never reach its full potential. This concept of finitude plays
a significant role in Malcolm X s life and autobiography. X becomes aware of this aspect of the human
condition at a very early age and it seems that he acts with this idea almost always in the back of his
mind. Malcolm X does not live a conservative or docile life. He is determined to live his life to the
fullest and by the end of the book, his only goal is to spread his thoughts and ideas as much as he can
before his time on this Earth is up.
We are first acquainted with finitude on the mere second page of this book. While we as humans like
to believe that we will live long and prosperous lives, Malcolm X seems to understand the true nature
of our existence before he is even able to go to grade school. With constant threats from the KKK and
several violent deaths of African Americans in the community, it was near impossible for him to live
as deluded as several of other did. His father had also accepted the finite features of our existence and
began to risk his life and dedicate himself to civil rights. X realizes that he was likely to follow in his
father s steps by stating It has always been my belief that I, too, will die by violence. I have done all I
can to be prepared (2)

  • 5. Factors Influenced On Byatt s Works Essay Factors influenced on Byatt s works There are several facts in Byatt s intellectual life which impacts her fiction and nonfiction alike. Nevertheless, the supreme one that constituted the central number of her works remains the influence of one particular Cambridge teacher and literary critic: Franklin Raymond Leavis (1895 1978) who shaped Byatt s view on the moral importance of literature. It stands worth to talk about him, because he not only influenced directly A.S Byatt on the other hand, he formed the entire course of Angelo American 20th century literary criticism, an understanding of which is vital to read Byatt s fiction. In an autobiographical gesture, her fictions often send their heroines to Cambridge. Via the time Byatt went to all female Newnham College, Cambridge, in 1957 to get her B.A., Leavis, then 62, was the ruling intellectual, position he had engaged for 30 years. Leavis, his wife Q.D. (Known as Queenie ) and their circle, which included such critics as I, A, Richards and William Empson, applied great effect on the literary of the day. It stays hard now to imagine Leavis as a radical, since he is so often critiqued for his exclusive and special judgments. However, consider the shape of university life as it was found and then rejected by Leaves when he entered Cambridge immediately after World War I. Until the last decades of the 19th century, taking up the study of literature in the university meant studying the classics that means, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Child Labour Essay Child labour is the practice of having children engage in economic activity, on part or full time basis. The practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful to their physical and mental development. Poverty, lack of good schools and growth of informal economy are considered as the important causes of child labour in India. The 2001 national census of India estimated the total number of child labour, aged 5 14, to be at 12.6 million. In 2001, out of a 12.6 million, about 12 million children in India were in a hazardous job. UNICEF estimates that India with its larger population has the highest number of labourers in the world less than 14 years of age, while sub Saharan African countries have the highest percentage of children who are deployed as child labour. International Labour Organisation estimates that agriculture at 60 percent is the largest employer of child labour in India, while United Nation s Food and Agriculture Organisation estimates 70% of child labour is deployed in agriculture and related activities. Outside of agriculture, child labour is observed in almost all informal sectors of the Indian economy. Companies including Gap, Primark, Monsanto and others have been criticised for child labour in their products. The companies claim they have strict policies against selling products made by underage kids, but there are many links in a supply chain making it difficult to police them all. • 7. Garden Of Eden Research Paper The Jewish people believe that the current world is a place to prepare oneself for Olam Ha Ba, the World to Come. According to the Talmud, all of Israel has a share in the World to Come, but it is not equal. A righteous person will have a greater share than that of an ordinary person. The place of spiritual reward for the righteous is known as Gan Eden, the Garden of Eden. This is not the same garden in which Adam and Eve lived. The Garden of Eden is a spiritual utopia in which only the righteous directly go to. An average person would first go to a place of punishment and/or purification, known as Gehinnom or She ol. The time spent in She ol continues no longer than 12 months before people are able to ascend to the World to Come. Those that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jewish tradition states, For when a man departs from this world... [he] meets Adam, the first man, witting at the gate of Gan Eden, ready to welcome with joy all those who have observed the commands of their Master. Round him are many righteous men, those who in this life have kept clear of the path to Gehinnom and followed the part of Gan Eden. Upon arriving in Gan Eden, souls encounter the light of Gan Eden through the River of Light. Tradition states that the river is created from perspiration that flows from the heavenly hosts as they fervently sing glory to the Highest. The river serves the purpose of purification so that one may emerge and come before the Master of the Universe in a completely pure state. Within Gan Eden, there is a lower and an upper level. Lower Gan Eden serves as a transit between She ol and Upper Gan Eden. In Lower Gan Eden souls continue to prepare for entry into the Upper Gan Eden. The Zohar, a work from within the Kabbalah, states that upper Gan Eden is reserved for the pious of a higher grade. Upon entering upper Gan Eden, the soul is once again purified in the River of Light. The second purification heals the soul of any remaining defilements. Upper Gan Eden is said to consist of celestial music and organized schools for continuous learning of the Torah. Within the upper level, there are many other levels ... • 9. Eric Foner Reconstruction Summary Eric Foner s A Short History of Reconstruction begins with a short historiography overviewing how historians views of reconstruction has changed. He does this by introducing the first understanding of reconstruction, and then moves to different schools of thought that progressed through time until the latest interpretation today. The first understanding of reconstruction, in which the Dunning School had the largest influence, pushed the idea that the South gracefully accepted their defeat, and just wanted to rejoin the Union and govern again. Under this school, white southerners wanted freedmen to succeed, and were ready to be cooperative. However, against Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson s wishes, Radical Republicans sought to punish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Progressives had a very unfavorable view of reconstruction. The progressives believed that Johnson was a victim of the radical republicans, who painted themselves with the moral high ground, but only favored black suffrage and rights as a way to control the South politically and economically. Foner then provides some survivors and black historians, like W.E.B. Du Bois, that dissented from the previous rendering of reconstruction. Reconstruction, for these historians, was an idealistic effort to transition the country from slavery to a racial harmony. These writers also paint freedmen as real changemakers in reconstruction, not just people affected by white policy. Foner then writes of the revisionists who drew from these dissenters, and from new scholarship and evidence. Foner also notes that this revisionary spirit could come from a change in racial attitudes, associated with the modern civil rights movements. The revisionists go against the thought of Johnson as a victim, and instead clear the stigma associated with the radicals who had gotten him impeached. They write that the reconstruction legislation was not forced through by radials, and instead had public and congressional support. They also try to erase the belief that the South was a victim, and instead wrote of the services that the republicans brought to the South, like public schools, equal citizenship, and the rebuilding of the southern economy and reassociates corruption with the South, instead of the ... • 15. White People And Native Americans During history, white settlers and the U.S. government did not always have the best of relationships. Many wars were fought, and many lives were lost from both sites. The U.S. government and white settlers has had negative attitudes toward the Native Americans. Native Americans were not seen as equal to white people, so white settlers and U.S. government did not treat them fairly. The United States government also tried assimilation as a solution to their Native American problem. The relationship of the Americans and the Native Americans at the beginning were rocky. Many Americans thought that they had a God given right to spread their culture to the whole world. Native Americans would receive negative effects from this idea of many Americans had. Native Americans had a very different culture to Americans, this made the Americans think Native Americans were not civilized and that they were savages. It also didn t help that during the gold rush, a way to get to the goldfield of California (459) and many places with gold was to get through the land of Native Americans. That adds another factor to the equation of reasons to oppress the Native Americans. So the theories of racial superiority (459) of many Americans and the land Native Americans had that white settlers feel like they should own, is a recipe for the growing tensions of the United States government with the Native Americans. This would soon lead with many wars between the two sides. The U.S. government has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It attempts to manipulate someone s ideas, actions and attitudes. Propaganda can be used in journalism by manipulating the story to be exaggerated or simply false. Semantics Semantics studies how words came to be and what they mean. In a journalistic setting when covering a story, be sure of what you are actually portraying and what you re trying to say. There are clear distinctions between what reporting, inferences, and judgements are. Communitarianism Communitarianism has emphasis on society and the larger majority of a group. In journalism or public relations and individual would look at what brings people together. For example (fiction), covering a story about how MSU s Homecoming parade brought helping hands together as participants prepared to rain proof their floats last minute, which made for a successful homecoming parade. A non Communitarianism could have reported how the rain ruined the parade and many townspeople were outraged by the cities/schools decision to cancel the parade. Libertarianism Libertarianism has emphasis on the individual. In public relations, by having a libertarian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Ghost The Musical Analysis Ghost: The Musical Director Douglas E. Stark s adaption of Ghost (based off of Bruce Rubin s story) turns a classic story into a musical. Stark has worked with Beef and Boards for 40 years and, in 2008, joined Hillcrest Asset Management as a Managing Director. Beef and Boards is celebrating its 45th anniversary season with productions such as Mamma Mia, Million Dollar Quartet, and Elf: The Musical. Beef and Boards theatre in Indianapolis, Indiana made this director s dream of a specific musical come true with their production of Ghost: The Musical; which I was able to watch on Thursday, October 26, 2017. The production featured a unique set (featuring an interesting stage paired with strong lighting) accompanied by a talented cast including the performers, director, and technical crew. The simplest description for Ghost is a romance gone wrong when tragedy strikes. The curtain opens on a happy couple, Sam Wheat (Eddie Egan) and Molly Jensen (Andrea Laxton), moving into their new apartment; however, after a few scenes, a robbery causes his death. Carl Bruner (Patrick Michael Joyce), Sam s best friend, had been the true reason of his demise. The musical was, to say the least, a success. The plot of this theatre piece features characteristics of a comedy, mystery, action, and science fiction writing. The unique combination of these characteristics gives every member of the audience the opportunity to enjoy the piece. However, I do believe, the director should have allowed for ... • 20. Minorities Dare To Lead In The Accounting Profession Essay According to the latest US Census, Blacks or African Americans make up 13.6% (42,020,743) of the total US population (308,745,538) but only 10.8% of the employed market and less than 9% of those classified as Accountants and Auditors. (nabainc.org). According to Data USA, over 75% of the accounting profession was dominated by Whites or Caucasians and you ask what the importance of minorities daring to lead in the accounting profession is? It is simple, there was a time when we could not lead at all. There was a time in history when we could not lead let alone enter the accounting profession which was simply an injustice. In fact, the very first black woman to become a CPA, Ms. Mary T. Washington, did not earn her credential until 1943, when CPA licensing had been around since 1896. For those reasons, minorities should dare to lead in the accounting profession because there was a time when we could not lead and we could not have a say. In addition, minorities should dare to lead because there was a time when we were not recognized for what we could contribute to the profession. Caucasian CPA s ... Therefore, it is imperative that minorities take leadership roles so that they can learn even more about the trade and share the mistakes that they made to future generations so that they will not make those same mistakes again. • 21. A Separate Peace Rhetorical Analysis Paul uses many tactics throughout his imprisonment in order to keep some control over his and Annie s alliance. One effective method he uses is flattery, complimenting Annie in order to keep her happy and her mood stable. His use of this move is demonstrated on page 60 in the novel, when he calls Annie his favorite nurse. He uses it again on page 107, telling Annie that she could not be old enough to remember the chapter plays, hinting at how she looks way younger than she actually is. Paul uses this strategy to lighten Annie s mood and keep her happy, which is vital to him because Annie can become very destructive and impatient when angry, consequently being the main source of Paul s pain throughout the book. • 22. Protostar Nuclear Fusion Just like humans, everything in the universe has a purpose. From the beginning of the moment anything is created into existence it grows and fulfills its purpose. Stars are no different. Every day, stars are created by gravity which pulls the star together, the star builds up heat and pressure, and then fusion begins. The process in which a star goes through is known as a star s life cycle. All stars start at the basic nebula phase, change to a protostar, and go on to the main sequence star phase. After the main sequence star phase, there are two different divisions that are determined by the mass of the star. If a star is known as a low mass star it will have different life changes than a high mass star. A low mass star will become a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As of now, no black dwarfs have been discovered, simply because the universe is too young. A black dwarf gives off no light and is also cold, compared to the other stars in their life cycles. Being born during the Civil War in the South and living her life through Reconstruction, history would play a huge role with her life. So when given the choice of being a background character or to take center stage, Wells found her spot light and shone like the morning sun. The South would do its best to stifle her voice both as child, though she would not know it, and as an adult. Yet Wells would show the strength and determination of an African American woman and prove that she was as much a part of the large scale Civil Rights Movement as her male counterparts. One Saturday while riding the train into Woodstock, a conductor removed her from the first class car she was riding in, that she had paid to ride in, to put her in the smoking car. She refused to be treated as less than she was and got off the train. She would in turn sue the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad Company and win, only to have it overturned. Wells would take this and over the next few years she would speak out about the racial injustice across the South. After the lynching of three men in 1892, she would travel the South and learn of lynching stories in other parts of the South, documenting them as she went. • 30. The Effects Of Bordetella Pertussis On An Acute... Introduction Bordetella pertussis (known as whooping cough) was discovered by Bordet and Gengou as an acute respiratory tract infection. (1 2) The highly contagious B. pertussis is a strictly aerobic gram negative coccobacillus that grows best between 35 37 ºC, and is transmitted through inhalation of aerosol droplets. It is one of ten known Bordetella species, and accounts for 50 million cases annually, in which 300,000 of them result in death. (1 3) Pathogenesis There are four stages in B. pertussis infection. The first stage is attachment. Filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA), a type of protein, along with fimbrae (FIM), a cell surface structure, serve as major adhesins (for adhesion) for pertussis. (1) They firstly attach to ciliated epithelial cells in the nasopharynx, and then begin to multiply. (4) The second stage is evasion of host defenses. Pertussis uses adenylate cyclase toxin (ACT) and pertussis toxin (PT), a complex bacterial toxin, to evade host defenses. ACT inhibits the motility and activation of phagocytes and T lymphocytes, while PT targets the lung s immune system. This prevents neutrophils from reaching the respiratory tract quickly, and also promotes the infection through macrophages. PT also causes lymphocytosis, which is an influx of lymphocytes in the blood. (1 2) The third stage is local damage. Pulmonary lesions, necrosis, and peeling of ciliated bronchial epithelium occurs. This is accomplished by tracheal cytoxin (TCT) and dermonecrotic toxins, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This would cause an unending debate on practicing private confession and whether private confession should also be considered a sacrament within the Lutheran church. Private confession was a rite introduced by the Celtic missionaries and mandated by the Council of Trent to be observed once a year especially before receiving communion. However, the abuse of penance through the selling of indulgences caused Martin Luther to seek reform on the corrupted practices of the papacy of the Catholic church, therefore leading many believers of the new church skeptical of continuing the practice of private confession. However, Luther argued that observance of private confession was an imperative of every Christian to taken part in, evidenced in many of Luther s writings, specifically the Babylonian Captivity and The Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ Against the Fanatics. • 32. Why Is Finitude Important In Malcolm X s Life Human beings are not as perfect as we d like to believe. We are constrained by our abilities, actions, knowledge, and death to live a life that can never reach its full potential. This concept of finitude plays a significant role in Malcolm X s life and autobiography. X becomes aware of this aspect of the human condition at a very early age and it seems that he acts with this idea almost always in the back of his mind. Malcolm X does not live a conservative or docile life. He is determined to live his life to the fullest and by the end of the book, his only goal is to spread his thoughts and ideas as much as he can before his time on this Earth is up. We are first acquainted with finitude on the mere second page of this book. While we as humans like to believe that we will live long and prosperous lives, Malcolm X seems to understand the true nature of our existence before he is even able to go to grade school. With constant threats from the KKK and several violent deaths of African Americans in the community, it was near impossible for him to live as deluded as several of other did. His father had also accepted the finite features of our existence and began to risk his life and dedicate himself to civil rights.
