Saint Elizebeth of Hungary (1207-1231) is the patron saint of bakers. She was born in Presberg, Hungary and married Prince Louis of Thuringia at age 13. After marriage, she devoted herself to serving the poor by feeding them. During a famine, she continued to provide for the poor despite difficulties. She performed miracles such as turning a basket of bread into roses. Saint Elizebeth died in 1231 and was canonized in 1235 by Pope Gregory IX.
