Saint Barbara lived in the 3rd century and was imprisoned in a tower by her wealthy father Dioscorus, who did not believe in God. She was secretly baptized and learned about Christianity. When workers built a bathhouse for her, she had them add a third window representing the Holy Trinity. When her father discovered this, she confessed her faith in Christ to him. Enraged, he imprisoned and tortured her, but her faith only grew stronger. She was ultimately martyred by beheading, and her father was immediately struck by lightning for his sins.
