The Sahara Desert is the largest desert in the world, nearly covering all of Northern Africa. It measures approximately 3,000 miles east to west and is an arid region characterized by extremely high or low temperatures and scarce vegetation. Though it used to be more lush, the Sahara now features oases surrounded by date palms and is home to animals such as camels, foxes, snakes, and gazelles that have adapted to the harsh climate.
