SaaS Enablement - Realizing the true Potential of Standard Applications (a ca...Lucas Jellema
Its hard to provide users with an optimal UI for their task - with data from one or more standard applications or SaaS products?
To allow them to work in quick, focused, performant and pleasing way that does not require them to get access to, training on and licenses for all products involved? As it happens - no. That is not very hard to achieve, as this case study will demonstrate. A tailor made user interface was developed in modern web client technology on top of a custom developed set of APIs that expose data from several applications according to the proper authorization rules - and allow users to manipulate specific attributes over the course of performing their tasks. This session explains how you could achieve enhanced business value.

How to Drive Growth with Customer Success MetricsGainsight
The most successful Enterprise SaaS companies know that growing revenue only through new customer acquisition is the less efficient way to scale. Rather, they understand that growing revenue within your existing customer base - through up-sells, cross-sells, and expanded use - is the most profitable way to scale.
In fact, Enterprise SaaS companies that grow revenue - and company valuation - by expanding revenue within their existing customer base also know the key to making this work is to focus on - and operationalize - Customer Success.
This presentation - How to Drive Growth with Customer Success Metrics - is from Pulse 2014, the biggest Customer Success industry event ever and included panelists Aaron Ross, author of Predictable Revenue, Jason Lemkin of Storm Ventures, Tomasz Tunguz of Redpoint Ventures, and Brian Stafford McKinsey.

A bad accountant or finance manager can spell doom for your company though by causing you to not invest cash that you should be or worse - spending money you don’t have in the bank. This is why you need to know your SaaS accounting chops, too. To help, let’s walk through a breakdown of how revenue flows through your business from a booking all the way to cash collected.
Here we walk through exactly how to calculate ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) including what to and not to include in the calculation, as well as how to optimize this crucial SaaS metric.
• 3. The 3 Models of SaaS Pricing1How to Pick the Best Price28 Pricing Hacks3How to Test New Pricing4We’ll cover...
• 4. Model 1: Targeting Small Businesses1
• 5. Self-service, no sales team, limited support

• 19. 2. What does the customer want to pay?People have no idea until you askthem for their credit card.
• 20. Pricing by Value
• 21. Value-Based PricingYour customers get value worth $Yand it only costs them $X.
• 22. For B2B, focus on money earned or saved
• 23. How much extra revenue do they earn?1How many hours do they save?2What other costs do they avoid?3Ask your customers:
• 24. Capture more value from each customer.
• 25. There’s no such thing as a perfect price. If you need more guidance, pick aprice that’s 10% of the valuedelivered.

• 28. Rule 2: Don’t Add Unnecessary Digits$1000 looks cheaper than $1,000or $1000.00
• 29. Rule 3: Avoid Discounts Unless LaunchingDiscounts create destructivecustomer habits. Do not use themregularly.
• 30. Rule 4: Offer Multiple Prices to Anchor
• 31. Rule 5: Use pricing plans to segment customers.Different customer types getdifferent value from your product.Capture that value.

vCloud Automation Center provides powerful capabilities for policy-based orchestration of complex infrastructure and application deployments. A Platform as a Service (PaaS) such as Pivotal CF, built on the open-source Cloud Foundry, presents a set of abstractions and capabilities that focus on the application implementation and the run-time services it will leverage.
The value of a PaaS installation is equally driven by the set of application-centric capabilities provided, such as performance monitoring or logging, and by the set of services that can easily be integrated into an application; exposing the offerings in the vCloud Automation Center services catalog for leverage by apps deployed into Pivotal CF allows an enterprise faster time to value. And a vCloud Automation Center user can model system deployments, automating infrastructure provisioning and software deployments; this modeling is equally valuable even when the targets of the orchestrations are the PaaS abstractions of applications and services.
These products are very complementary and we’ll show you how. Understand how the combined vCloud Automation Center / Pivotal CF solutions provide the basis for a comprehensive PaaS solution. See a demo of and roadmap for the integrated solution. Learn how to use vCloud Automation Center to model applications for deployment into Pivotal CF and how to draw vCloud Automation Center services into Pivotal CF.
After a brief overview of both products, we will describe the capabilities and derived value of the joint solution that will have early access availability at the time of the conference.
This topic introduces the need of a unique architecture style for Cloud Native application deployments. Further, the fitment of DevOps, usage of Microservices and the runtime of Cloud Native application (* as a Service) are covered in detail. The need of distributed computing in Cloud for Cloud Native applications is trivial to understand. Insights on the same are covered.

Hosting Partner: Oracle On Demand
There are several definitions for SaaS. Most pundits agree that SaaS Application should be hosted, you should offer subscription based pricing to your customers and you should look to share some infrastructure components & operation services among multiple customers to bring down the cost of offering the software as a hosted service.
So why are SaaS applications becoming popular. The benefits are many fold.
For the end customers – deployment is faster, the cost of buying the software is low and within operating budgets of LOBs, customers don’t have to grapple with ongoing maintenance as it is vendor’s headache, risk of trying out and getting out is low and they can hope that vendors will continuously update software with latest features.
There are some vendor benefits too. You get a monthly predictable revenue, you can capture some of the savings obtained by serving multiple customers, you can track usage of software and invest wisely and you can aim for long tail market i.e segment which you could not reach with on on-premise deployment
Most analysts agree that the market for SaaS Applications is growing rapidly. IDC predicts that the SaaS market will grow at CAGR of 33% and will be 16+ B. Further enterprise spending on SaaS is increasing and it will be faster than SMB
One of the primary differentiator for SaaS as compared to the old ASP model is that infrastructure and Operations cost needs to be shared between multiple customers, which allows the vendor to create value.
Operations cost be reduced by providing common services for billing, provisioning, infrastructure and applications management and support. Infrastructure cost can be reduced by following approaches.
First is virtualization. This basically means that you host customers on separate infrastructure instances but use virtualization technologies to consolidate hardware.
You re-architect the data layer to support multitenancy and consolidate databases. With VPD technology, you don’t have to make application changes.
You re-architect the application to support multitenancy in the application layer I.e. one instance of application running on grid will support multiple customers
Provider can host SaaS themselves, use a hosting provider or use Cloud based infrastructure. In all cases the provider needs to provide some common services and application infrastructure for multiple customers.
This is the SaaS ecosystem. It comprises of the Hosting providers, the platform providers like Oracle and finally the SaaS App ISV. The SIs and VARs can add value at different places.
The Oracle SaaS Platform includes Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Oracle VM, a comprehensive, open and integrated set of technologies that allow partners to build, deploy and manage SaaS and cloud-based applications.
Going into components of the oracle SaaS platform, at the lowest level you have oracle database and db options, then we have WebLogic server and WLS Application grid, we have the SOA Suite, the WebCenter Suite for Enterprise 2.0 development, Oracle BI products. For managing the infrastructure we have oracle EM. We have Oracle VM for virtualization. For security, we have Idm and Oracle advanced security products and finally we have a IDE & framework for application development.
Oracle does not have an offering in provisioning and metering & billing space. Here we rely on partnerships with other companies. Some hosting providers have built their own custom products for this.
How is Oracle different
Comprehensive – Different customers have diff requirements on whether they want SaaS or On Premise version of the software. Ideally you should offer both
RASP - for millions of customers
No lock in
Due to standards and integrated testing, Oracle platform reduces time to market.
Security along with integration is the main concern for SaaS adoption in enterprises.
Intaact offers a multi tenant financial management software based on Oracle database on low cost grid hardware. Their CTO has gone on record saying that Oracle helped him meet his SLAs and was a low TCO solution compared to open source alternatives.
SPS Commerce provides a hosted multi tenant B2B integration software for Supply Chain management. They use Oracle SOA suite as a foundation for this product.
These are some other partner. Xactly is a fast growing SaaS player in Sales Compensation management field. They use Oracle BI products for offering Analytics which has become a key differentiating factor for them.
