OpenStack Days East -- MySQL Options in OpenStackMatt Lord
In most production OpenStack installations, you want the backing metadata store to be highly available. For this, the de facto standard has become MySQL+Galera. In order to help you meet this basic use case even better, I will introduce you to the brand new native MySQL HA solution called MySQL Group Replication. This allows you to easily go from a single instance of MySQL to a MySQL service that's natively distributed and highly available, while eliminating the need for any third party library and implementations.
If you have an extremely large OpenStack installation in production, then you are likely to eventually run into write scaling issues and the metadata store itself can become a bottleneck. For this use case, MySQL NDB Cluster can allow you to linearly scale the metadata store as your needs grow. I will introduce you to the core features of MySQL NDB Cluster--which include in-memory OLTP, transparent sharding, and support for active/active multi-datacenter clusters--that will allow you to meet even the most demanding of use cases with ease.

The cloud is changing many things. Even the decision to not (yet) adopt the cloud is one to make explicitly. Now is a time for any organization to reconsider the IT landscape. For each system, we should make a conscious ruling on its roadmap. The 6R model suggests six ways to move a system forward. This session uses the 6R model and applies it specifically to Oracle technology-based systems: what are the options and considerations for Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion Middleware, custom applications and other red components. What future should we consider and how do we choose? The paths chosen by several Oracle-heavy users is presented to illustrate these options and the decision making process. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Autonomous Database play a role, as do Azure IaaS and Azure Managed Database as well as on-premises systems. Latency, recovery, scalability, licenses, automation, lock-in, skills and resources all make their appearance.

The promise of the cloud is substantial. Oracle's public cloud promise goes beyond the generic promise. This presentation describes the promise of the Oracle Public Cloud specifically for developers. It describes the current state of the PaaS Platform, the actual and coming services and what they could mean to a developer. From same platform, different location (DBaaS, JCS) to cloud native stack (ICS, MCS) and services for Citizen Developers, the presentation touches upon virtually all services relevant to developers. The presentation concludes with first the steps enterprises can start taking to move to the cloud and second the steps individual developers could and perhaps should take in order to conquer the clouds.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Cloud-as-a-service is the key to innovation
Cloud has changed everything in our industry. In fact it’s one of the largest transitions we’ve seen in the infrastructure market over the last three or four decades.
Over the past 5 or so years, we have seen cloud shifting from small and medium sized businesses to large, enterprise organizations.
Cloud enables innovation. Line of business users now have to be able to innovate on behalf of their teams and are being held accountable to get things done quickly. Because of this, there are changes across companies – not just for IT, but it touches on all aspects of the business – from financial to HR to operations.
The cloud enables organizations to now consume resources as a service. We are now enabling LOB users to consume services out of the box as building blocks -- rather than building these services from scratch. This way, LOB users can now be focused on building applications rather than developing the underlying infrastructure.
Same goes for platforms. Enterprise companies do not need to focus on building out a platform. Out of the box, users get Java Cloud Service, application servers with Oracle WebLogic server. Additionally, with Oracle Cloud, we are able to get non-Oracle Application servers running on our cloud with Node and Java SE.
Using the Infrastucture as a service, you are getting compute, network and storage. All of these capabilities allow users and organizations to get rapid innovation in developing their applications.
Backup slide – use either 44 or 45
Where we believe that we are truly differentiated is in our hybrid cloud, our co-existence strategy.
Oracle offers customers multiple options with a complete and modern cloud architecture. This choice is truly unique in the industry.
Customers can deploy and manage their apps on their own private cloud, or can move it to the public cloud. When the make this movement – it’s a seamless migration because we’re using similar technologies (same standards, same products and unified management) on both sides.
In business, having options gives you flexibility to adapt to a constantly changing market and competitive landscape. It’s the same with Cloud.
MORE DETAIL:
As a result, customers can chose any combination of deployment model based on their business needs. Only Oracle offers customers the choice of both public and private cloud services. Any unlike our competitors, customers have the flexibility to change their deployment model –from private to public, or perhaps bring a public cloud application back in-house.
