Brainstorming is a process used by groups to generate many ideas without criticism in order to find solutions to problems. It involves collecting ideas without regard to feasibility from group members. Effective brainstorming follows four rules: no criticism of ideas is allowed, the focus is on generating a high quantity of ideas, building on others' ideas is welcomed, and all ideas, no matter how unusual, should be shared freely.

8. Allow Free-for-All Outrageous, humorous, and seemingly unimportant ideas should be recorded. It is common for the most off-the-wall idea to be one wherein lies the solution for the problem. The sky is the limit.
