The Fourth Transformation: How Augmented Reality & Artificial Intelligence Will Change Everything (Scoble & Israel)
Virtual reality (VR) is a computer technology that uses Virtual reality headsets, sometimes in combination with physical spaces or multi-projected environments, to generate realistic images, sounds and other sensations that simulate a user's physical presence in a virtual or imaginary environment. A person using virtual reality equipment is able to "look around" the artificial world, and with high quality VR move about in it and interact with virtual features or items. VR headsets are head-mounted goggles with a screen in front of the eyes. Programs may include audio and sounds through speakers or headphones.

artificial intelligence in health care. how it is different from traditional techniques. growth of artificial intelligence. how hospitals are taping artificial intelligence to mange corona virus. pros and cons of artificial intelligence.
There are many more uses of VR than first realised which range from academic research through to engineering, design, business, the arts and entertainment. But irrespective of the use, virtual reality produces a set of data which is then used to develop new models, training methods, communication and interaction.

Study: Development of a precision multimodal surgical navigation system for l...JeanmarcBasteMDPhD
Minimally invasive sublobar anatomical resection is becoming more and more popular to manage early lung lesions. Robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS) is unique in comparison with other minimally invasive techniques. Indeed, RATS is able to better integrate multiple streams of information including advanced imaging techniques, in an immersive experience at the level of the robotic console.
Our aim was to describe three-dimensional (3D) imaging throughout the surgical procedure from preoperative planning to intraoperative assistance and complementary investigations such as radial endobronchial ultrasound (R-EBUS) and virtual bronchoscopy for pleural dye marking.
All cases were operated using the DaVinci SystemTM. Modelisation was provided by Visible PatientTM (Strasbourg, France). Image integration in the operative field was achieved using the Tile Pro multi display input of the DaVinci console.
Our experience was based on 114 robotic segmentectomies performed between January 2012 and October 2017. Progressively, we have reached the conclusion that the use of such an anatomic model improves the safety and reliability of procedures. The act of operating is being transformed and the surgeon now oversees a complex system that improves decision making.
It is in this dynamic and innovative setting, that my peers and I are curating an intensive training on this precision multimodal surgical system.
« Revolution in RATS » will be held in March 7th and 8th 2019.

Tele-Robotic Assisted Dental Implant Surgery with Virtual Force FeedbackNooria Sukmaningtyas
The dental implant surgical applications full of risk because of the complex anatomical
architecture of craio-maxillofacial area. Therefore, the surgeons move towards computer-aided planning
for surgeries and then implementation using robotic assisted tele-operated techniques. This study divided
into four main parts. The first part is developed by computer-aided surgical planning by image modalities.
The second part is based on Virtual Surgical Environment through virtual force feedback haptic device.
The third part is implemented the experimental surgery by integrating the prototype surgical manipulator
with the haptic device poses using inverse kinematics method. The fourth part based on monitoring the
robotic manipulator pose by using image guided navigation system to calculate the position error of the
surgical manipulator. Thus, this tele-robotic system is able to comprehend the sense of complete practice,
improve skills and gain experience of the surgeon during the surgery. Finally, the experimental outcomes
show in satisfactory boundaries.
A Simulation Method of Soft Tissue Cutting In Virtual Environment with HapticsIJERA Editor
Currently, virtual simulation has an increasing role in the medical field. Now virtual surgery simulation has been largely explored in medical field. Virtual surgery is a good complement to traditional Surgical Training. Modeling effects of soft tissue during cutting is quite complex, hence the concept of virtuality is used to develop realistic surgical instruments for providing exact force feedback to the surgeon during surgical operation and simulation of soft tissue processes. Scalpel is a basic instrument required for soft tissue simulation. Hence we will design a virtual organ to cut by using Scalpel in Haptic Environment.
The future laparoscopic technology includes threedimensional virtual reality and expands the scanning rate from 525 lines of resolution to 1,000 or 1,200 lines per frame and the quality of picture would be twice better than existing system.

A Review of Super Resolution and Tumor Detection Techniques in Medical Imagingijtsrd
Images with high resolution are desirable in many applications such as medical imaging, video surveillance, astronomy etc. In medical imaging, images are obtained for medical investigative purposes and for providing information about the anatomy, the physiologic and metabolic activities of the volume below the skin. Medical imaging is an important diagnosis instrument to determine the presence of certain diseases. Therefore increasing the image resolution should significantly improve the diagnosis ability for corrective treatment. Brain tumor detection is used for identifying the tumor present in the Brain. MRI images help the doctors for identifying the Brain tumor size and shape of the tumor. The purpose of this report to provide a survey of research related super resolution and tumor detection methods. Fathimath Safana C. 2. Advancements in computing power have enable continued growth
in virtual reality, visualization, and simulation technologies.
Virtual reality is defined as human computer interface that simulate
realistic environments while enabling participant interaction, as a
3D digital world that accurately models actual environment.
The term virtual reality was coined by Jaron Lanier.
3. In surgery, the life of the patient is of utmost importance and
surgeon cannot experiment on the patient body.
Many patients have lost lives because of surgical errors.
VR provide a good tool to experiment the various complications
arise during surgery.
4. Virtual surgery, in general is a Virtual Reality technique of simulating
surgery procedure, which help Surgeons improve surgery plans and
practice surgery process on 3D models.
This helps the surgeon to have clear picture of the outcome of surgery.
The surgeon can view the anatomy from wide range of angles.
The virtual surgery is based on the patient specific model, so when the
real surgery takes place, the surgeon is already familiar with all the
specific operations that are to be employed.
5. 1. Training and Education.
2. Surgical Planning.
3. Tele-surgery
6. Traditionally, textbook images or cadavers were used for training
purposes.
VR simulators allow users to view the anatomy from a wide range
of angles and “fly through” organs to examine bodies from inside.
The experience can be highly interactive allowing students to strip
away the various layers of tissues and muscles to examine each
organ separately.
7. In traditional surgery planning, the surgeon calculates various
parameters and procedure for surgery from his earlier experience and
imagination.
This leads to lots of errors and even to the risk of losing the life of the
patients.
The incorporation of the virtual reality techniques helps in reducing
the errors and plans the surgery in the most reliable manner.
3D reconstruction has proven particularly useful in planning
stereotactic and minimally invasive neurosurgical procedures.
8. Tele-surgery allows surgeons to operate on people who are
physically separated from themselves.
This is usually done through robots provided with video cameras.
More advanced system has been used to perform Coronary
Anastomosis on ex-vivo swine hearts and in human undergoing
endoscopic Coronary Artery Bypass grafting.
9.
10. Intelligent computer backup minimizes the number of medical
‘mistakes’.
More effective use of minimal-access surgical technique.
Better training in anatomy and surgical skill, with reduced
need for cadavers.
11. Shortcomings in the realism of the simulations.
Cost and processing power of available hardware.
Need to improve human-computer interfaces.
Time delays in the simulator’s response to the users
movements.
12. Medical virtual reality has come a long way in the past 10
years as a result of advances in computer imaging.
They are cost effective and can improve the quality of care.
Despite some concerns, the benefits of VR systems in
medicines have clearly been established in several areas,
including improved training, better access to services, and
increase cost effectiveness and accuracy in performing
certain conventional surgical procedures.
