Hindisum is a faith that is based on diversity. With hundreds of Gods and Goddesses and the
freedom that it propels, it is a very subtle religion in todays age.
In fact, there are very few Hindus that read the four Vedas even once during there lifetime. There
are no rituals to be followed nor is it an imposing faith. However, it rests on very solid faith of
the people. It is more a way of life.
For eg: Karma. It is nothing but as you sow, so you reap. Every action has an equal a opposite
reaction. It is based on physics and science in many respects.
Yoga is an ancient art made popular by Sage Patanjali. It studies an epitomizes human body,
structure and intricate details on what is good for each body part. The proof that Hinduism is
known for its diversity is because the local deities are most generally worshipped according to
the preference, faith and belief of the followers.This decentralised synthesis has produced Hindu
sects and beliefs ranging from monastic self-denial to worship of the goddess of wealth; from
non-violence to human sacrifice. Hinduism has no hierarchy.
Any Hindu can don a monk\'s robe, preach pretty well what he likes, and be respected as a holy
man. This has aided diversity.
Hinduism has several Gods, dieties and goddesses all followed with different names and rituals.
It has diverese ideas of traditions and spirituality. For eg: Lord Krishna is known as Dwarkadish,
Nandlal, makhan chor, krishna kanahiya etc.
Hinduism is a religion, or a way of life,found most notably in India and Nepal. Although
Hinduism contains a broad range of philosophies, it is a family of linked religious cultures bound
by shared concepts, recognisable rituals, cosmology, shared textual resources, pilgrimage to
sacred sites and the questioning of authority. It includes various denominations each with an
interwoven diversity of beliefs and practices.
Hinduism is the oldest religion of the world. In fact its more a way of life than a religion. It is in
effect a fusion of cultures, traditions, beliefs and spirituality.

word ”religio” was originally used to mean only
"reverence for God or the gods, careful pondering
of divine things, piety"
Religion is a collection of cultural system,
beliefs and word views that establishes symbols
that relate humanity to spirituality and

8. Hinduism is the world’s oldest religion, Hinduism is the third-
largest religion Roughly 95 percent of the world’s Hindus live in
India. Because the religion has no specific founder, it’s difficult
to trace its origins and history.
Hinduism formally started somewhere between 2300 B.C. and
1500 B.C. in the Indus Valley, near modern-day Pakistan.
HINDU WORSHIP
Hindu worship, which is known as “puja,” typically takes place in
the Mandir (temple). Followers of Hinduism can visit the Mandir
any time they please.
Hindus can also worship at home, and many have a special
shrine dedicated to certain gods and goddesses.
The giving of offerings is an important part of Hindu worship.
It’s a common practice to present gifts, such as flowers or oils, to
a god or goddess.

sometimes referred to as a “way of life” or a “family of religions,”
as opposed to a single, organized religion.
•Most forms of Hinduism are henotheistic, which means they
worship a single deity, known as “Brahman,” but still recognize

in soul
•Hindus revere all living creatures and consider the cow a
sacred animal.
•Food is an important part of life for Hindus. Most don’t eat

Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism.

11. Basavanna was born in Bagewadi, a town in Hungund
taluk in Bagalkot district (former Bijapur district) of
Karnataka. Bagewadi is 20 kilometer away from
Hungund. Some historians .
Madaras and Madalambe were parents of Basavanna.
Madaras was town president of Bagewadi. He
belonged to Kamme Brahmin community. Kamme
Brahmins are also called Aradhyas and Smartha
Brahmins. They are half Brahmins and half
Veerashaivas.
Basavanna was born in Veerashaiva Brahmin family.
Veerashaiva Brahmins are worshippers of Personal
Linga (Istalinga) but they do not wear Linga on their
person but keep their Linga in the pooja room.
12. Basavanna fought against caste system in vedic religion
and gender equal. As per the religious tradition,
Madaras performed Upanayan of Basavanna at his age of
8 years. Upanayana was held against the wish of
Basavanna. He could not tolerate it and cut threw the
Janiwara put on his body during upanayana. With Linga
in his neck blessed by the Guru at the time of his birth
he ran away from Bagewadi. He joined Gurukula at
Kudala Sangama..He did not like to stay with the people
floating in the stagnant water of blind beliefs and
immoral customs and had migrated to Sangama.

diversity because people of many religion, race, culture and
tradition live together without affecting each others feelings and
believes to their religion. Unity in diversity focuses on the
existence of unity even after lots of differences of cultural,
social, physical, linguistic, religious, political, ideological,
psychological, etc.
