3. ICT:
A diverse set of technological
tools and resources used to
transmit, store, create, share or
exchange information.
4. Application of ICT:
An application system normally consists of a user
interface, business logic and a database of some
sort.
The user interface is something that you can see
and something that is used to interact with the
computer. It could consist of set of screens, web
pages or reports. Sometimes the user interface is
an input device such as a bar code reader or a voice
recognition device.
5. Role of ICT in 21st century:
◦ICT in today’s world is almost used in every
domain.
◦It covers a vast area of health care, society,
governance, infrastructure, education,
business etc.
6. • Education:
ICT in education, often called e-learning or digital learning,
has revolutionized how students learn and teachers teach. This
digital transformation has significantly impacted the
educational landscape by enhancing accessibility, interactivity,
and effectiveness.
The use of ICT in education enhances collaboration and
communication. Online forums, video conferencing, and virtual
classrooms enable students to connect with teachers and other
friends and fellows.
7. • Health Care:
Students can access to various online
resources, including textbooks, research
materials, and educational videos through use
of ICT.
The use of ICT in healthcare has led to better
patient care. ICT tools such as electronic health
records (EHRs), telemedicine and health
information portals have made it possible to store,
share and manage patient data more effectively.
8. • Governance:
ICT promotes transparency in governance by
facilitating public access to government
operations and data. Government websites,
open data initiatives, and online portals
provide channels for citizens to retrieve
official documents, including reports and
budgets.
9. • Infrastructure:
The basic physical and organizational structure
and facilities needed for operation of society or
enterprise.
Infrastructure is often categorized as hard or soft.
Hard infrastructure is the tangible, physical
assembly of structures such as roads, bridges,
tunnels, and railways. Soft infrastructure is the
services required to maintain the economic,
health, and social needs of a population.
10. • Society:
The systems used in infrastructure is developed through
ICT .
The operations such as generating a ticket or keeping a
track of buses and trains is all done with the help of
technology.
A railway application is developed for passengers to track
the trains.
ICT is used in our daily life for example use of
mobile phones, tablet, laptops, PC’s, ATM
machines, online banking, communication
through different applications is all possible
through the technology that ICT has developed.
11. Business:
ICT systems are used in businesses to
improve communication, collaboration, and
efficiency. For example, companies may use
email, instant messaging, and video
conferencing to communicate with employees,
partners, and customers.
