The College underwent a £28 million demolition and extension programme. Each faculty
department has its own area in the new building with the original building being used for a new
canteen and student services area. The college also has new leisure facilities, including artificial
football and rugby pitches, tennis courts, sports hall and a swimming pool.
The Business School and Student Hub at Manchester Metropolitan University is a 20,500m2
newbuild city centre campus building, ranging in height from four to eight stories, the blocks are
linked by two full height aria and bridges connect the blocks at high level.
The main entrance extension and new teaching block to an existing Primary School and new
playground, staff car park, drainage and sports pitch.
The extension to an existing Primary School and associated hard and soft
landscaping works.

Wythenshawe’s transport interchange has played a key part in the regeneration of the area since
it opened in July 2015. The new interchange provides a modern, high quality gateway to the town
centre, with better safety and security for both bus and Metro link passengers, and improved
transport links and services for the town.
The re-development of Stanley Park and 26,000m2 carpark to allow the opening of the New
Liverpool Football Club stadium expansion. The works included re-laying the tarmac, installing over
2km of drainage and attenuation, replacing 1km of kerbs, repairing and reconfiguring the existing
park. All these works were completed while the Stadium coontractors (Carillion and
their subcontractors used the site to park)
The New Wigan Fire and Ambulance station is the first time both the blue light services have shared
a new building together. The scheme has been designed to meet both there differing requirements
and is being constructed while the site is still being used as a fully operation fire station.
This development will allow firefighters to train in the most modern and realistic conditions. The
centre includes a ‘fire street’ including a variety of homes and commercial buildings along with the
utilisation of the site’s existing features, such as tunnels, culverts, bridges and embankments to
create specialised training scenarios. The scheme also includes a community hub, which features
a interactive learning area for people to visit to learn about fire safety.

23. AWARDS & ACCREDITATIONS
20
A belated thank you for the invitation to
your recent Proud2bSafe event. To have the
opportunity to engage directly with your MAN
airport workforce, with the back drop of deeply
personal stories following workplace injuries,
was humbling, rewarding and hugely valuable.
I personally took a lot away from the session
and recognise the HSE leadership R&M have
shown in organising this event. You are the first
to do this in my tenure at MAG and that does
not pass unnoticed.
Thank you and please keep working with MAG
to drive Vision Zero across all our work.
