Risk Management Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of risk management is a challenging endeavor that demands a
comprehensive understanding of various disciplines. It requires the integration of concepts from
finance, economics, psychology, and business administration, among other fields. The
complexity of the topic lies in the multifaceted nature of risk, which can manifest in financial
markets, project planning, decision-making processes, and even in everyday life.
To produce a compelling risk management essay, one must delve into the intricacies of
identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks. This involves not only a theoretical grasp of risk
management frameworks and models but also a practical understanding of how these principles
are applied in different contexts. Additionally, addressing the evolving landscape of risks in
today's globalized world adds another layer of difficulty, as emerging technologies, geopolitical
shifts, and unforeseen events constantly reshape the risk landscape.
Furthermore, effective communication is paramount in conveying complex concepts to a diverse
audience. Balancing the technical aspects of risk management with clarity and accessibility
requires a nuanced approach to writing. Achieving coherence in presenting arguments, supporting
them with relevant examples, and maintaining a logical flow throughout the essay are all critical
components that contribute to its overall difficulty.
In conclusion, tackling a risk management essay demands a blend of interdisciplinary
knowledge, critical thinking skills, and adept communication. Successfully navigating these
challenges can lead to a well-crafted essay that not only explores the nuances of risk
management but also engages the reader in a thoughtful exploration of this dynamic and
pervasive concept.

Star Life Cycle
The life cycle of the star is a long process that has taken place for billions of years
and will continue to take place long after our star is no longer in existence. In this
essay I will be explaining the magnificent process of how a star is first born till the
end of its life cycle. First, I will be explaining how the staris first formed in all its
beauty big or small. Then, I will be explaining the path of an average star like our
own sunwill take. After, I will be explaining the journey of a massive star in all its
glory till its destructive end. All stars are first formed in clouds of gas called
nebulae, turbulence deep within the nebulae causes cores to form as the mass begins
to grow the nebulae begins to collapse upon itself due to... Show more content on

As the star begins to run out of hydrogen fuel the core inside the star begins to
collapse while rising in temperature, which causes the core to heat up rapidly
pushing the outer layers of the star outward causing them to expand and cool the
star is now a red giant. Average stars like our sun will have a relatively peaceful
ending toward the end of their red giant phase. The star begins to pulsate releasing
its outer layers resulting in solar winds, as these layers begin to drift away only the
core remains, this is considered a white dwarf. Eventually the white dwarf will
consume all its energy after this happens it will become a cold black dwarf.
Massive stars come to an end much differently, after the high mass star runs out of
fuel the outer layers of the star begin to collapse upon the core, and then are
released in a massive explosion into the cosmos this is called a supernova. After,
either a neutron star or a black hole remains these are vastly different a neutron star

How Does Iago Use Rhetorical Devices In Othello
Most murder mysteries and tragedies end with killings that are committed with
sole action, but in Othello, a tragedy by William Shakespeare, the reader is shown
that you can end a man s life with just words and a plan. Taking place in Venice,
Italy the play is about a moor, Othello, who falls in love with a fair skinned woman
who goes by the name of Desdemona. Eventually the two get married, but Iago, the
main antagonist, plans to seek revenge by killing both Othelloand his wife.
Shakespeare shows how Iago uses rhetorical devices to convince Othello that
Desdemona is having an affair resulting in both their deaths. The first scene I m
going to be using as an example is in Act three scene 3 lines 92 280. In this scene
Iago and Othello are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take note, take note, O world, To be direct and honest is not safe. I thank you for
this profit, and from hence I ll love no friend, sith love breeds such offence.
(Shakespeare iii, III, 381 384), in this scene Othello asks for proof, and at this point
Othello is truly questioning if his wife is cheating. In this quote Iago is using
emotion to get to Othello, pathos, he is saying how he s glad Othello is telling him
that he shouldn t help a friend when the truth is too much. This isn t only ironic, but
it also tugs at Othello to make Iago seem more honest and trustworthy than ever.
Othello even responds to him saying he should always be honest. In another quote
from this scene Iago manages to get Othello to even admit his jealousy by

Reagan s Scandal of the Iran Contra Scandal: Detecting Brave Politics and testing

Question: Did President Ronald Reagan know about the decision by White House
aide Oliver North and National Security Advisor John Poindexter to divert profits
from sales to Iran to buy weapons for rebels? Why did President Ronald Reagan
change his opinions about his knowledge of his role in the Iran Contra Scandal?
Almost twenty years after the notorious Watergate scandal, the Iran Contra Affair

From 1936 until 1979, Nicaragua was ruled by two dictators, Somoza Garcia and his
son Anastasio Somoza Debayle until the Sandinista rebels seized power in 1979. The
new regime sparked unpopular remarks among the Nicaraguans, giving rise to a
counter revolution, who later became known as the Contras. Because of the new
regime s support towards the Soviet stance, the Reagan administration decided to
support the Contras and provide them with financial and material support. The year
1979 also witnessed the overthrow of Iran s authoritarian ruler, Mohammad Raza

A Case Of The Causeway Bay Bookstore Essay
Five associates, including a co owner, of publisher Mighty Current and its Causeway
Bay Bookstore went missing in January 2016. Known for gossipy titles about
political scandals and other sensitive issues about the Communist Party of China, the
Causeway Bay Bookstore attracts lots of mainland Chinese tourists in Hong Kong.
Therefore, when the news of the bookshop s workers has gone missing came out,
the general HK public felt shocked and appalled. Pro democracy lawmakers in HK
believe that these booksellers were kidnapped and smuggled to mainland Chinafor
political investigation. Book sold at the Causeway Bay Bookstore are banned in the
mainland, but are available in HK, where freedom of the press and other civil
liberties are enjoyed by its citizens, privileges that are unseen in mainland China(
Hong Kong Unsettled, 2016). Moreover, China s own police force, called public
security, does not have rights to act in HK territory, because HK self governs with
a different set of laws, and its own police force, and special ops, but no army, nor
are foreign embassies allowed to be set up in HK (consulates are set up instead),
which causes the HK people who enjoys their degree of independence from the
mainland more worried, concerned, and terrified by such event of potential
suppression of freedom in HK, and they see it as an attempt of hegemony, both
political and cultural, by the mainland China to HK.

The Importance Of Special Education For Special Services
When precious metals and jewels are mined from the earth they are not always in a
presentable form. They have to go through a process to make them shine and sparkle.
There are students that are not always ready for the world, and they need to go
through a process to help make them the best that they can be. In Special Education
there is a 10 step process that is put in place to make sure that students that need that
extra help can receive it and have the opportunity to become their best self. The
process covers from the beginning of the process which includes identifying if a
child qualifies for special educationor related services to the end of the process
which is the student being evaluated. The process will be examined thoroughly
throughout this paper using the case study of a student named Bryanna that is in
third grade and is at risk in reading and math. The initial step in the special
education process is to identify if a child needs special services. Bryanna has been
spotted by here teachers as a student that is struggling in math and reading. Her test
scores being as low as they have red flagged her for student that might need more help
than others. This can be initiated by an administrator, teacher, or a parent that may
think that a student needs to evaluate. In any situation a parent will have to give the
school a written consent for their child to be evaluated. The school system has 60
days to complete the evaluation of the student. In Bryanna s situation,

Raleigh. Martin possesses an interest property in the mountain district of North

in Christ and his lawful counsel, I must exhort him that there are laws, guidelines and
regulations that identify with his property circumstance he is confronting. Here is my
evaluation of Martin s three properties (Mountain, Coastal, and Personal Property).

It is as well, prudent to Martin to ask himself how severely he need or want the

as of now been torn down (Property Case Study). Eminent domain is normally
consider as a state over its people, yet the rule can be taken to a much higher
level...God over the nations, since it is God who created the earth and who owns it
all. Nations are born and can cease to exist, empires rise and fall, but The Most high
God, possessor of heaven and earth is forever (Genesis 14:9 KJV). My general
assessment to Martin would be for him to take the government full market
compensation value for his coastal property, and make another investment in a
different property. Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom

The use of Royalty as a support system and The Shakespeare criticizes royalty by
showing how their immoral actions go without noticeable consequence. The people
look up to royalty and believe their power is above consequence. This sudden sending

people have towards Hamletand because of that, has to find a way to get rid of

Fires of Jubilee Pt.4 In The Fires of Jubilee Nat Turner s Fierce Rebellion: Stephen
Oates gives an account of the brief but deadly slave revolt in and around
Southampton, Virginia. His controlling theme is that of religion and the profound
influence that it had on the development of Nat Turner s charismatic persona and his
rationale for engaging in a project of deliberate murder of people who had at least in
the context of slavery as a given of Turner s experience, treated him quite decently.
The effects of Nat Turner s rebellion were profound. The insurrection of Nat Turner
was inspiration for all slaves, even if just 60 whites were killed to the 140 blacks. I am

Books are filled with stories of colonial resistance such as the Boston Tea Party, the
burning of effigies, and the Revolutionary War. There are many stories of Daniel
Shay s rebellion against the young federal government. Yet one story that receives
little attention is the story of Nat Turner s rebellion. This being one of the first
rebellions and acts of abolition of slavery you would think that this amazing story
would be in every textbook throughout the world. His story is an excellent example
of how some slaves fought back and resisted their oppressors. Overall, I was
extremely impressed with this work. I think Stephen Oates was truly interested in
what he was researching, as this is reflected in the book. He makes important the
inhumane treatment and crude conditions that a slave had to endure under their
control. His skill as a writer is excellent, and he does a very good job bringing the
reader into the story. Oates believes that Nat Turner s rebellion was a critical turning
point in American history, especially Southern history. I was especially impressed
with his ability to describe what was happening. The detail fills the mind with a well
drawn picture of the scenery, smells, attitudes, and needs of the blacks and whites of
this part of the South. Lastly I would say that this book is not only enjoyable, but also
an important historical work that is helpful in understanding race relations of the past

Project A Satire
The action hero who does all his own stunts , that is what American audiences
started calling famous Chinese director, actor, and martial arts expert Jackie Chan.
His movies are known to be action packed, full of hand to hand combat, as well as
having some comedic moments. The films analyzed in this paper will be Project A
(1982), Project A 2(1987), as well as Police Story (1985). All of these take place in
Hong Kongand are filled with satirical comedy as well as many martial arts scenes.
During the 1980 s, Hong Kong was known for its wealth, and it was recognized for its
politics, expensive real estate prices, as well as their entertainment. During that time,
the manufacturing industry fell, as other economic aspects like foreign trade and
personal and general community services increased. Since manufacturing... Show

However, when it comes to satirical comedy, I noticed a clear distinction between
the three movies. The first two parts of Project A, give the impression of trying to
portray a more serious role. On the other hand, Police Story, has plenty of satirical
moments as well as some sarcastic ones. My conclusion to this is because Jackie Chan
is trying to make fun of the Hong Kong society at the time. During the 1980 s, crime
in Hong Kong was abundant, and because of it, the director of the film tried to
ridicule the drug cartel portrayed in the movie. They are played as clumsy, and
easily defeated by Jackie Chan s incredible martial arts skills. During the whole
movie, the astute policeman, played by Jackie Chan, constantly outsmarts the Hong
Kong drug cartel. In other words, the Hong Kong cartel is portrayed as stupid and
incompetent. During the Project A films however, even though we do see this
overpower of the protagonist on his enemies, it is not as apparent. Sanpao, as well as
his followers, play a powerful and intimidating role in this
The Goodness Of Matt Kaizer Character Analysis
Matt Kaizer, the protagonist in Avi s short story The Goodness of Matt Kaizer, is
a 6th grader who develops a new perspective on himself as a person. After being told
his entire life to act good like his father, Matt Kaizer now struggles to find himself;
he turns to be unlike his father and becomes a daredevil. However, a dare to visiting
a dying manleads him to see the goodness in himself. After visiting Mr.Bataky, Matt s
perspective of himself begins to change.
The Goodness of Matt Kaizer begins with Matt as insecure and heartless. He
attempts to change the image that everyone expects of him due to his father s
reputation. Early in the story, Matt Kaizer was insecure; he tried to do anything
that would help him fit in. Reverend Kaizer, Matt s father, is known as an
upstanding member in the community. He is a well respected man and Matt is
adamant to be unlike him. Because Matt and his father converse, Matt s
insecurities are revealed, Matt, I do believe that there is goodness in everyone.
That goes for you too ... I m not good Matt insisted... Long as my friends dare me to
do bad things, I ll do them (Avi 36). Matt Kaizer is insecure about how others
perceive him, since he is the son of a minister. Matt Kaizer would have taken on
any dare that his friends give him. No matter how deplorable it would seem, he
would take it as he is desperate to not to be as his father s son. He is insecure about
the way people perceive him as a reverend s son, because a large weight rest on his
shoulders to be good. He surrounds himself with bad children; he hoped that they
will be a poor influence on him. Likewise, Matt Kaizer is heartless throughout the
beginning of the story. While he takes a dare to visit an alcoholic on the verge of
death, his lack of feelings is uncovered, My mother said that he may die at any
moment. Mary Beth informed us... Who cut the cheese? he said with a grin (Avi 42
43). The insensitive remark Matt spoke about Mary Beth s household suggests he
does not care about how she must be feeling. He never cares about the people
around him, because he desires to be unlike his kind father in every way imaginable.
This compels Matt to act as if he cannot be compassionate towards those around

Ernie Pyle s Reporting War In Tunisia
George Washington once said, If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel
it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising
prosperity, it must be known, that we are at all times ready for War. Regardless of
the consequences, one should always fight to defend their nation, and their people. It
is true that warcan be evitable, but countries do not follow that path always. As
much as a country tries to avoid war it is often not possible. Therefore, one must be
prepared. War is far more complex to understand. It is not only a conflict between
nations. Reporting war in Tunisia is a story written by author Ernie Pyle, which
illustrates war to its fullest. Unlike other war stories, Reporting War... Show more

In his story Reporting War in Tunisia, Ernie Pyle also illustrates how difficult and
stressful homecoming actually is for soldiers. As it is obvious, most of the issues
soldiers have while readapting to normally live are originated by the horrific
realities soldiers have to deal during war those sad moments of seeing a teammate
die, and seeing innocent people die, especially children. Nevertheless, Ernie Pyle
states Our men cannot make this change from civilians into warriors and remain
the same people. Even if they are away from you this long under normal
circumstances, the mere process of maturing would change them (171). But we
cannot expect less, these soldiers have experience the worst is life and Ernie Pyle
reflects this in his story. Soldiers go through traumatic brain injuries, physical
wounds, and emotional distress that it is easy to understand why many of them
have trouble readapting. However, In his story, Ernie Pyle also depicts that
although soldiers live the hardest days of their life at war, they can still take
something good out of it a family. A family of soldiers that have been bounded by
the atrocities of war. Soldiers should be proud of being at war because they are
fighting for peace and freedom. Perhaps the dark side of war has more to it, but one
should never forget why war is fought in the first place to keep
Han and Roman Dynasty View on Technology
After studying the provided documents (#1 8) its come to my understanding that both
the Han and Roman empires thought of technology as useful and somewhat
revolutionary, but both of them had somewhat different feelings of it. The Han
dynasties attitude toward technology was that they thought it was very benefical, and
they admired it. The reason this was because they though it to be very helpful in
agriculture and construction purposes. Evidence of the positive effects of this can be
seen in Document 4: History of the Early Han Dynastywhich tells of a governer of
Nanynay and as the very generous and loving person he was his policies also

In Document 5 written but Ciero and upper class political leader On Duty he finds
that working in a workshop is not only degrading but he doesn t find it
enlightening or in other words he thinks that it s useless. Ciero finds no use for
technology, and that may be beacuse of his high placing in society he s not in
touch with the world of craftsmen whatsoever so there is of course no use for it to
him. Another example of a high class official having a negative view was in 7, like
stated before Seneca believed that tools were useless he an adviser to Emperor
Nero so that could be a reason why his views were different. The lower ranking
people, or commoners can only use tools so that s why I believe that they were so
grateful for the technology they were given ot provided with. The upper class people
only use the finished poduct they don t know the importance of tools. The Roman
and Han both found technoloy very useful and an everyday neccessary. Although the
Han viewed the technology verey beneficial for their agriculture and praised the
advanced tools and their inventors and well as their own work. The Romans only
appreciated the product of technology and its design and craftmeship. Both
civilizations technology was very imortant and helped to advance both that can still

When the two men come face to face they are both shot from below establishing
that there they are both strong figures, which is an important film noir tactic. The
other officers around them are shot at eye level. The tension between them begins
with a racial comment from Quinlin stating that Vargas doesn t sound like a

with a second of silence focused from below on Quinlin s shadowed face. The use
of shadows is also a key element of film noir, which helps to create the dark and
mysterious world that surrounds the characters. Quinlin increasingly represents a
common character in film noir. Although he is a strong character in the eyes of his
fellow officers, he is portrayed as a loner who has become disillusioned and
insecure. His scenes with Tanya Tana (Marlene Deitrich) are revealing of Quinlin s

the software architecture and how these views are more desirable than a single
viewport that tries to capture everything. Each view, should ideally, address one
specific set of concerns. For Kruchten, software architectureis the deliberate
assembling of various architectural elements to fulfill the requirements of the system.
The intent was to come up with a mechanism to separate the different aspects of a
software system into different views of the system. This is because different

Cultural Issues In The Melting Pot
It is absolutely necessary that the people of this nation grasp the cultural, ethnic and
religious differences of the people that make up this nation and of the surrounding
nations. America since 1908 has been called The Melting Pot, a place where people
from diverse backgrounds can come and experience freedom. Long before Israel
Zangwillcoined the term Melting Pot, America has been a safe haven for immigrants
even as early as the 1600 s up until the present time. With all of the various cultures
that have come into America and continue to come, there must be an
understanding of each other and respect, without those two key things in place
there will not be peace. When you you see something totally different to you and
do not understand it most people respond in fear, fear leads to misjudgement and
spreading fallacies about that which is different from you. Their is no room for
mutual respect when fear is in the way. Fear is at the root of all racism. Just look at
how in Ancient times when Hebrews were slaves to the Egyptians, Pharaoh ordered
every firstborn be killed and thrown into the Nile. He worried that the Hebrews
would become too many and try to revolt. Because of his judgement many had to die.
As a nation we must move past these pre passed judgements to see the cultureand the
people that made that culture. The ultimate solution to solving conflict early on is to
prevent racism and misunderstandings within cultures and social groups is to have an

time to handle all the issues that come his way that he needs to address. He directly
manages 25 people, with a total of 500 indirectly. Each person could have an issue
that is the highest priority to them, that needs to be handled immediately and it is
impossible for him to handle them all at once. He has to prioritize each issue and then
identify time constraints. He often has more requests than he can do in ... Show more

The one trait that Reed has seen derail leaders is egotism. This is when individuals
think they have the only and the right answer all the time. When leaders are like this
they don t get the benefit of the ideas from a diverse team. This means that they are
no longer leading the team they are pushing the team or going in a different direction
than the team.
Lessons Learned: I found it interesting that the concepts that we have learned about
are actually what leaders are faced with or actually believe. Reed Martin talked about
communicating with different types of people and how it is important to tailor your
communication style to the individual you are speaking with. I have found it
frustrating and difficult to communicate with our Clinical Director and sometimes the
physicians. Since, my interview with Reed, I have made an effort to think about our
Clinical Director s communication style and provide the big picture and not all the
Romeo And Juliet Mistakes
Desperate times call for desperate measures in literature and in real life. A major
theme in the play Romeo and Juliet is haste and it resulted in many superfluous
conflicts in the play. Drastic and hasteful choices to cover one s tracks often results in
careless mistakes to be made. An example of how Juliet s drastic decisions can
connect to my life is when I broke a precious family heirloom in my house. I was
playing with a volleyball in my living room, when I broke a case. The vase fell to the
floor and the pieces went everywhere. In a desperate attempt to cover up my crime
I hastily gathered up the pieces and wrapped them in a towel and rushed upstairs. I
had no idea what I was going to do! My life was over, I broke an object that meant
Alexander the Second and the Title Tsar Liberator Essay
Alexander the Second and the Title Tsar Liberator
In the 19th Century, Russia had no zemstva, very little education, industry and
railway building, a biased judicial system and very few freed peasants. Czar
Alexander II, who succeeded Nicolas I in 1855, went some ways to remedying these
deficiencies through a series of reforms. Alexander II became the great modernizer of
Russia, walking a delicate line between preserving Russia s Slavic identity and
enabling its people to benefit from Western advancements. For this reason he was
known to some as the Czar Liberator . However, indeed he was a liberator in name
only.
Alexander II initiated substantial reforms in education, the government, the ... Show

For the educational reform, the Czar adopted a more liberal education. Censorship
was relaxed, the universities were given freedom and independence, and more
Western ideas were introduced to scholars and students. People were more open
minded and became to demand more under these liberal reforms.
Though Czar Alexander II returned to reactionary rule when an attempt was made to
assassinate him in the 1860s, he did turn once more to reform in 1880. He made
plans to set up a General Commission which would include representatives from the
Zemstva. This would not be a parliament but would be a consultative voice when the
Czar required it. But this was an attempt towards a parliamentary government.
Superficially, Czar Alexander II seemed to be so liberate from his series of reform.
Yet, notwithstanding these measures, it would be wrong, as is sometimes done, to
describe Alexander II as a liberal. He was in fact a firm upholder of autocratic
principles, sincerely convinced both of his duty to maintain the God given autocratic
power he had inherited and of Russia s unreadiness for constitutional or representative
government.
For the emancipation of serfs, it was actually essential more than out of the Czar s
willingness. The bulk of the Russian population, about 80%, were the peasants and
serfs. Alexander II recognised that emancipation was vital. Freed

needs to consist of entities equally, or it will fail. According to an online article,
Song of Myself might be the most egotistical poem ever written: it s all about me,
myself, and I. In the first line, American poet Walt Whitman kindly informs us that
he is going to celebrate himself, and throughout 52 glorious sections, he does just
that. It takes guts to write a long epic poem about yourself, and Whitman was
nothing if not gutsy (Shmoop). Edward Estlin Cummings eliminates himself from
the poem by consuming a speaker within a speaker. Both speakers think practically
of themselves. The lesson in these poems doesn t have a main definition however
they both have their own way of living life. Each poem expressed a sense of
personal Optimism. To begin with, loyalty and war next to of course god America

himself from the poem by using a speaker within a speaker, but the content of the

express. He was outspoken
Comparing Brazilian Culture To American Culture
Brazil is a country located in the North Eastern and Eastern section of South
America. It is the fourth largest country in the world and fifth most populous,
holding over 200 million people, which also accounts for one third of South America
s entire population. (The World Factbook: Brazil 2018) Because of its huge size,
Brazilreceives millions of tourists each year; which makes it important to
understand how to evaluate Brazilian culture and their way of communication. The
culture of Brazil is one of the most diverse cultures in the world due to its long
history of colonizers and explorers. The first European settlers to arrive in the now
Brazilian area (A Brief History of Brazil, n.d.), were the Portuguese led by Pedro
Cabral... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first dimension in Hofstede s cultural dimensions is the power distance. This is
the degree in which people in a particular culture view the unequal distribution of
power as acceptable (McCornack, 2015). Brazil has a much higher belief in power
distance than the United States. In Brazil there is a large power distance, which
means that they believe that each person has a place in the social hierarchy, that
authorities should not be challenged, that hierarchy and inequality are appropriate
and actually benefit the society (Comparing Brazilian Culture to American Culture,
n.d.). This is very different to American culture because America was founded on
challenging the government. Our constitution was made so that we can challenge
our government and keep its power in check, so the government does not abuse its
power. Most Americans also believe that inequality is bad for our country. We have
gone through many periods of inequality in this country and we look back on them
to see what we did wrong and how we can do better now as to not repeat our
mistakes. Another dimension is the uncertainty avoidance, Cultures vary in how
much they tolerate and accept unpredictability (McCornack, 2015). Brazil has a
high uncertainty avoidance culture. Cultures like Brazil make rigid rules and set
regulations to try and cut down on uncertainty. This can be seen in their history of
military leaders as leaders of the country. Brazil is a high context society, which
means they put a strong emphasis on how the message is said rather than focusing
on the words used alone. Examples of this include Brazilians will sometimes
exaggerate a point but it will be done in a way that the others know it to be an
exaggeration. Brazil is also a collectivistic culture. This means that Brazilians
emphasize group identity, interpersonal harmony, and the well being
Greatest Romance Film of All Time, Casablanca
Many denote Casablanca as one of the greatest romance films of all time, but there
is more beyond what is going on between the leading man and the leading lady.
When an individual ponders Casablanca, they may think of the romance aspect of
it, but that is only one facet of this film. Although it probably was not viewed as
such at the time, Casablanca is a historical record depicting the events of World
War II. This film not only shows events and situations that occurred, but shows
how people felt about those incidents. There are many characters from different
heritages in the film, and the actors portrayal of a certain type of person, whether
American or Bulgarian, can give an idea as to how Americans or Bulgarians felt in
real life at the time. Even though there is one American in the film, the viewer can
discern how Americans were perceived by others by the acting of that one
American; one is almost forced to assume that is what Americans are like since
there was just that one character. Through this film, one can tell if the people who
made it wanted to promote American involvement in the war; an individual can also
see a portrayal of Americans and their allies during the war; there is a depiction of
the nature of the war and the violence that ensued because of it; and cultural
components are shown. Rick is the only American in the film, and he is quite the all
American man. To some, he would probably be considered good looking, he s quite
successful with his business,
The Problem Of Desertification
ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE CONCERNS Desertification is an environmental
and socio economic problem. Environmental justice is characterized by the equal
sharing of risks and benefits, distributed equally without discrimination. The land
affected falls in rural areas beyond the mainland which are primarily occupied by
non Han ethnic minorities. These areas include the autonomous regions of Inner
Mongolia, Xinjiang, and Tibet, which have historically been oppressed. The social
component of the problem creates a cycle in which poverty exacerbates
desertification, and in turn, desertification aggravates poverty. The cycle will
continue until the wellbeing of people living in desertified areas is considerably
improved to the point where they no longer rely on degraded land for survival.
Only then will they be able to limit their impact on desertified land. Chen and Tang
further explain For degraded land, withdrawal of farmlands and enclosing pastures in
order to exclude grazing are undoubtedly the most effective ways to prevent further
desertification. These measures would deprive local people of their sole livelihood.
Attempts to reduce desertification have neglected the human component of the
problem. As a solution, Wang et al. suggest that outward migration with a carefully
considered relocation policy is an important choice for desertified areas that are
judged to be beyond ecological carrying capacity. Miao et al. echo this idea,
explaining that reclamation efforts

His rise in politics and higher echelons of power was due to his mysteriously sharp

Pakistan should have Joint Defence Agreement with India. Bhutto was aghast and
made a sorry exit, calling Ayub Khan a political bankrupt.

1. Back ground
In present competitive world and business environment things would not move in a

Thus, it is more important now than at any time in the history of marketing to really
understand your target market and to let this understanding drive not only your
marketing decisions, but the entire decision making framework of the company.
(Hiebing Cooper, 2004:4).
Since the preference of customers vary from time to time and meeting their needs,
wants and expectation is an impressive challenge to service providers, strategic
thinking of marketing could be the best way to find the right track as competition is
stiffer than the past trend. One to this developing marketing strategy is crucial in
business firms and as Orville C.Walker, Jr., et,al explained the primary focus of
marketing strategy is to effectively allocate and coordinate marketing resources and
activities to accomplish the firms objectives with in a specific product market.
Therefore, the critical issue concerning the scope of a marketing strategy is
specifying the target market(s) for a particular product or product line. Next, firms
seek competitive advantage and synergy through a well integrated program of
marketing mix elements (Primarily the 4Ps of product, price, place, promotion)
tailored to the needs and wants of potential customers in that target market. (2004:12).
As the study of this paper is attributed to service providing firms like Tikur Abay
Transport Share Company it would be vital to examine the behavior of business
service from theoretical point of view. Thus for an
Armenian Genocide Classification
What is the Armenian genocide? The Armenian genocide was the Ottoman
government s systematic killing of Armenians, which took place during World War
I, beginning in 1915. A genocide, which has occurred since ancient times, is the
deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic
group or nation. During World War I, the Turkish nationalist government killed an
estimate of 1.1 to 1.8 million Armeniansin Eastern Turkey. The Ottoman s took power
in the Armenian genocidethrough classification, preparation, extermination, and
denial. The Ottoman s took power in the Armenian genocide through classification.
All cultures have categories to distinguish people into us and them which shows the
social differences between the majority and minority groups. This division occurs
because of differences in ethnicity, race, religion, nationality, culture, or language and
serves to drive the us versus them mentality needed to progress further along in the
stages of genocide. Bipolar societies that lack mixed categories, are most likely to
have a genocide, which is considered to be classification. The classification that
happened during the Armenian genocide was that the Turks were Muslim and
Armenians were Christians, Muslims dominated society and Armenians were viewed
as unfaithful to Allah. In the preparation stage, victims were identified and then
separated, death lists were drawn up and the victims were forced to wear identifying
symbols.
Wearing A Seat Belt Is Worth It
Now people may tell themselves that they know they should wear a seatbelt, but is
it really worth it? The answer is yes, it is worth it. Your life is worth it, and putting
yourself at risk makes you a careless person. In 2012, 7,500 teens and young adults
between the ages of 16 24 were killed in a car crash. 60% were not wearing a seatbelt
out of 34,080. Every 16 minutes, someone dies in an accident and about 89 people
lose their lives each day. Wearing a seatbelt slows your body down and decreases
how far your body goes before it stops and wearing a seatbelt prevents you from
flying out of the car and decreases the chance of damaging your body. People think
that since they are only going a short distance, they don t need a seatbelt because it
s not like they re going to get into an accident for the three blocks they re traveling
to. They re wrong about that. Studies show that 50% of fatal accidents happen near
their home or workplace. As a car is going 55 MPH and it hits a solid object, the rest
of the car is still going 55 MPH even when a car frame has stopped. While the rear
end is going 35 MPH, your body is still traveling at 55 MPH. Seatbelts saved around
13,941 lives in 2015 and it could ve saved 2,814 more people if they were wearing
a seatbelt. In this world, people take seatbelts for granted. It s the one thing that can
save your life in a car crash and it is also the one thing that people abuse. Not
wearing a seatbelt can lead you into being thrown at an opening
The Mind of Kurt Vonnegut
The Mind of Kurt Vonnegut
Kurt Vonnegut is one of the preeminent writers of the later half of the twentieth
century. His works are all windows into his mind, a literary psychoanalysis. He
examines himself as a cog in the corporate machine in Deer in the Works ; as a
writer through the eyes of Kilgore Trout in several works; and most importantly, as a
prisoner of war in Slaughterhouse Five.
Vonnegut created short stories and novels that dealt with events in his life. One of the
most obvious self examinations is in Deer in the Works . The short story is based on
his experiences as a publicist at the General Electric Company
Research Laboratory in Schenectady, New York. Deer in the Works ... Show more

There he began to recall the events that occurred there in 1945.
The protagonist of Slaughterhouse Five is Billy Pilgrim. His situation in the war was
identical to VonnegutГёs, and Pilgrim is used by Vonnegut to examine what
happened in Dresden. Pilgrim has the ability to travel in time, the manifestation of
VonnegutГёs
1968 trip to Dresden. Pilgrim relives the night the city of
Dresden was destroyed, and ponders the uselessness of the act.
After the publishing of Slaughterhouse Five in 1969,
Vonnegut told Playboy, I didnГёt have to write at all anymore if
I didnГёt want to (Wampeters 280). Slaughterhouse Five helped
Kurt Vonnegut lay to rest some of the memories that had haunted him since 1945.
Vonnegut later claimed,
The importance of Dresden in my life has been considerably exaggerated because
my book about it became a best seller. If the book hadnГёt been a best seller, it
would seem like a very minor experience in my life. And I donГёt think peopleГёs
lives are changed by short term events like that. Dresden was astonishing, but
experiences can be astonishing without changing you (Reed 776).
Despite these claims to the contrary, the experiences at Dresden had always played a
large part in his writings.
Evolution In Gift Of Cochise, All The Pretty Horses, And...
Consequently, as evidenced by the protagonists evolution in Gift of Cochise, All the
Pretty Horses, and The Martian, the foretold frontier hero defined in Turner frontier
hypothesis only earns claim to the title of hero after prospering in the face of
unplanned isolation and proving their worth as a rugged individual.
While Angie openly embraces the tumultuous life on the frontier for the sake of her
family in The Gift of Cochise, her heroism grows only after the abandonment of her
husband through her steadfast resolve to stand up against the ostensibly unjust
Cochise. L amour conspicuously insinuates that the initial motivation behind Angie s
move westward is to support her husband and her future family. Her choice of
settlement most clearly illuminates her truly family focused intentions on moving
west, choosing a home with grass, water, and shelter from the wind, [that] Angie
with an Irish eye for the land saw would grow crops (L amour 58). L amour s
description of Angie s familial role undoubtedly evidences her unusually high power
in her marital relationship. Her ability to dictate her family s housing location
bifurcates her from the rest of the 19th century women of her time, but she never truly
encapsulates the spirit of Turner s western hero while with Ed Lowe. Her implicit
subservience to Ed in the eyes of outsiders prevents her initially from exhibiting her
heroic qualities, until she loses Ed in the gunfight. Her advancement along the
frontier after the loss
Life Is Precious In Human Life
Life is a precious gift from God. It is precious because He created it and declares it
so in
His Word. It is meant not only to be enjoyed, but also respected. Life is not flippant
and is not in our hands or under our authority to bring into or take out of existence.
That alone is God s power and His authority. Mass shootings and terrorist attacks are
an abomination to God because it shows people taking God s role and authority and
applying it to their own wicked, fallen, and human selves. They ignore and slight
God s deity and supreme authority by deciding for themselves who lives and who
dies. Life is not theirs to take. Human life is sacred, it is so precious because
mankind is made in the image of God and bears His image here on earth.
Violation of the sanctity of human life is not only a recent or modern issue. It goes
way back to the dawn of creation with Adam and Eve s first generation. In Genesis
4:8 10 the Bibles tells of Cain rising up against Abel, his brother, and killing him.
Cain s initial sin wasn t murder.
The root of that sin was disobedience then jealousy and bitterness which was what
led to the murder of Abel. God most definitely did not take this sin lightly. He said
in verse 10 ...the voice of thy brother s blood crieth unto me from the ground . God
was grieved at Abel s death and at the disrespect of Cain taking God s matters, that
is, life and death, into his own feeble and foolish hands. Ultimately, sin starts in the
heart. Just like Cain, people today
Essay about In the Skin of a Lion by Michael Ondaatje
In the Skin of a Lion, by Michael Ondaatje
In the novel, In the Skin of a Lion, by Michael Ondaatje, the main character, Patrick
Lewis, searches for identity and light. Without these elements, he lacks love and
cannot survive the world. A passage in chapter three describes him as a lonely man
that is isolated from the world around him. Clara and Ambrose and Alice and
Temelcoff and Cato this cluster made up a drama without him. And he himself was
noting but a prism that refracted their lives. He searched out things, he collected
things. He was an abashed man, an inheritance from his father. Born in Abashed,

He has no purpose in life; he just searches. The thing that he is looking for is light.
This ambiguous concept of light Ondaatje presents throughout the novel is not
ordinary light, but one that illuminates the void of darkness. Just like the moths that
Patrick is intrigued by that only tend toward light at night, Patrick only seeks light
when there is none around him. Patrick continues his eternal search for light because
he has none of his own to emit.
The central theme behind many stories is the loss and regaining of identity.
Patrick has no identity of his own, and his only way of gaining a temporary one is
through light. And he himself was nothing but a prism that refracted their lives.
(Ondaatje, pg.157) A prism, by definition, refracts light into a spectrum of colors.
Correspondingly, Patrick contorts other characters identities as his own. The
readers are introduced to this concept of reflecting light even before the novel
begins. This is indicated by, (D)riving the four hours to Marmora under six stars
and a moon. Patrick is the moon; he can only reflect a star s light. When reflecting
light from the six stars, the main characters in the novel, Patrick is able to gain a
temporary identity. This is what Patrick is searching for his true identity. Throughout
the novel, Patrick becomes like the people he associates with, and he gains a
temporary identity and purpose. He takes on Alice s quest to dissolve the
permissive and authoritarian approaches in hypnotherapy

approaches in hypnotherapy. Included will be history of the two approaches,
background of the way they work and practical examples to show the influence they
have on clients. Gathering information through various means (which will be

The essay will explore this personalized induction and see if it will always be most

Also when working with visual clients word choose around sight will be helpful
such as look, imagine or visualize. Also phrases such as looks good to me or I
understand your outlook. An auditory person would be brought to a state of
relaxation through music or other sounds with less resistance than a person of a
different modality. Using ideas such as harmony and listening to the body will work
well with such people.
It is important to point out that most people have a strong tendency to one of these
modalities but also most people are a composite of the all the different modalities.
With this is mind there is a technique used my hypnotist called compounding where
they will try to invoke all the different modalities. For example: Imagine (visual)
yourself standing next to a gently flowing waterfall. Hear (auditory) the power of
water as it falls miles and miles beyond where you can even see. It looks as though it
is falling into infinite abyss. Move closely to water and feel (kinesthetic) the water
run through your fingers. Sense the waters calmness and warmth and feel that healing
energy from it. Smell (olfactory) the sweet (gustatory) fragrant flowers surrounding
this heavenly body of water.
Another important aspect of induction material is whether you should use a
permissive or authoritarian style script. This history of these two approaches is
based very much on the Hungarian Sandor Derenzi who referred to these two
approaches as

5. Leadership styles used by Sir Richard Branson
Ones Sir Richard Branson stated that You can t be a good leader if you do not
genuinely like people (CBS interview). This is how he defines the leadership
management style. Through the newspaper articles, television shows it could be
judged that Sir Richard Branson as a very humble, Down to earth and a friendly
person. Sir Richard Branson s characteristics are as follows (Stephen, 2005).
First main characteristic he pointed out was Smile everything gets much easier if
people can show up a friendly face. Secondly have fun at work. Stress can be
massively cut down plus employees will not feel the hard work by having fun at
the working place. This was one reason Sir Richard Branson s companies were
successful. The employees of these companies enjoyed working. Branson made sure
that the working environment of his companies always adapted accordingly. He
came from a simple family background with the above mentioned characteristics so
the leadership qualities were also very much simple. As it was mentioned in the
introduction Sir Richard Branson was not a fan of theories. Even though his
leadership style was very simple he never referred strategies and worked according to
the theories. But it could be seen that his leadership
William Faulkner s `` A Rose For Emily ``
While authors like Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King are known for their creepy
writings, William Faulkner has achieved a level of disturbing that is hardly reached
in short stories. A Rose for Emily is a story that shows how the insanity of one
woman is able to shock an entire town, even in death.
When first reading A Rose for Emily, anyone can see how twisted Emily Grierson
is. Not only for the fact that she was sleeping in the same bed as a corpse, but
because this was not the first time that she had kept a dead body in her house. While
her family does have a history of mental instability, stating that, remembering old lady
Wyatt, her great aunt, had gone completely crazy at last (section II), she is able to
out do the impossible and create an aura of mystery that surrounds her both during
life and death. After reading this story, it makes the audience question not only the
reasoning that Emily has behind not only killing Homer, but keeping his body
trapped in her house up until she met death as well. It also brings to attention how
much the townsfolk actually influenced the progression of insanity that caused Emily
and those around her, so much turmoil. For example, if the townsfolk had not used
Emily as a source of entertainment and gossip, would she have stayed the recluse?
While, the townsfolk are not to blame, it makes readers wonder: what if? Another
question that I had while reading this story is, who was the narrator? The narrator,

The Importance Of The Fifth Amendment
Land has been an integral part of culture since the beginning of time. From the
Homestead Act to the modern real estate development age we care about where we
live. We showed in the American Revolution that we are willing to fight for the land
we love. However, under the Takings Clause of the 5th Amendment we are prevented
from this specific action, fighting for something we love. The Takings Clause states,
nor shall private propertybe taken for public use, without just compensation. (US
Const. Amend. V, sec. 3) The fifth amendment fails to protect the individual from the
unjust seizure of land from the government, for there is no clause that allows for
protecting one s land if not compelled to sell. Even when given the right, the
government, as seen through past landmark cases, has a very crooked definition of
public use.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1776, the Revolutionary War was fought to gives us the rights and the land we
love. Through the Frontier Movement, settlers sought to establish a sea to sea
exploration and development of the West. Publishing Homestead Act and other such
land grabs, the U.S. government inspired a procession of settlement from Savannah

Mexican Labor Laws Essay
A Comparative Analysis of Labor Law and Practices between Mexico and the U.S.
Following the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA), many
United States based industries and corporations began investing in plant operations
in Mexico due to the cost cutting efficiencies that Mexican labor offered. Due to a
low cost of production this spurred the growth of Mexican manufactured goods
which were exported and purchased mainly by American consumers. For many of
these businesses it was their first time opening operations in the Central American
country, and American businesses shared concerns over regulatory differences in
U.S. and Mexican labor laws. The scope of this paper is to examine some of the

In the United States workers generally pay into these programs in the form of a tax
in exchange for future benefits; however, in Mexico this burden lies on mainly
employer contributions which total around one third of a workers overall salary
in one year. Mexican employers pay this money to the Mexican Social Security
Institute(IMSS), who oversee worker benefits. (IMSS) funds are obtained
primarily through employer contributions(70%), but also come from
employees(25%) and from the government (5%) (Posthuma, Dworkin, Torres,
Bustillos 2000). Just as in the U.S. all workers must enroll into this program. The
program not only serves as a means of retirement pensions, but also includes full
family medical care, unlike the private insurance system that is more prominent in
the United States. The IMSS is also responsible for social services such as free
child care centers and death benefits. There is also a separate system in Mexico that
is much like the transferable IRA system that is used in the United States. These
additional retirement funds are often managed by a third party such as a bank or
investment firm and employers are required to contribute a minimum of two percent
of one s salary and up to a maximum of twenty five percent on top of employee

In this essay I will be explaining the magnificent process of how a star is first born till the end of its life cycle. First, I will be explaining how the staris first formed in all its beauty big or small. Then, I will be explaining the path of an average star like our own sunwill take. After, I will be explaining the journey of a massive star in all its glory till its destructive end. As the star begins to run out of hydrogen fuel the core inside the star begins to collapse while rising in temperature, which causes the core to heat up rapidly pushing the outer layers of the star outward causing them to expand and cool the star is now a red giant. Average stars like our sun will have a relatively peaceful ending toward the end of their red giant phase. The star begins to pulsate releasing its outer layers resulting in solar winds, as these layers begin to drift away only the core remains, this is considered a white dwarf. Eventually the white dwarf will consume all its energy after this happens it will become a cold black dwarf. Massive stars come to an end much differently, after the high mass star runs out of fuel the outer layers of the star begin to collapse upon the core, and then are released in a massive explosion into the cosmos this is called a supernova. After, either a neutron star or a black hole remains these are vastly different a neutron star is an incredibly dense object made up of sub atomic particles called

How Does Iago Use Rhetorical Devices In Othello Most murder mysteries and tragedies end with killings that are committed with sole action, but in Othello, a tragedy by William Shakespeare, the reader is shown that you can end a man s life with just words and a plan. Taking place in Venice, Italy the play is about a moor, Othello, who falls in love with a fair skinned woman who goes by the name of Desdemona. Eventually the two get married, but Iago, the main antagonist, plans to seek revenge by killing both Othelloand his wife. Shakespeare shows how Iago uses rhetorical devices to convince Othello that Desdemona is having an affair resulting in both their deaths. This being one of the first rebellions and acts of abolition of slavery you would think that this amazing story would be in every textbook throughout the world. His story is an excellent example of how some slaves fought back and resisted their oppressors. Overall, I was extremely impressed with this work. I think Stephen Oates was truly interested in what he was researching, as this is reflected in the book. The first two parts of Project A, give the impression of trying to portray a more serious role. On the other hand, Police Story, has plenty of satirical moments as well as some sarcastic ones. My conclusion to this is because Jackie Chan is trying to make fun of the Hong Kong society at the time. During the 1980 s, crime in Hong Kong was abundant, and because of it, the director of the film tried to ridicule the drug cartel portrayed in the movie. They are played as clumsy, and easily defeated by Jackie Chan s incredible martial arts skills. During the whole movie, the astute policeman, played by Jackie Chan, constantly outsmarts the Hong Kong drug cartel. In other words, the Hong Kong cartel is portrayed as stupid and incompetent. The Goodness Of Matt Kaizer Character Analysis Matt Kaizer, the protagonist in Avi s short story The Goodness of Matt Kaizer, is a 6th grader who develops a new perspective on himself as a person. After being told his entire life to act good like his father, Matt Kaizer now struggles to find himself; he turns to be unlike his father and becomes a daredevil. However, a dare to visiting a dying manleads him to see the goodness in himself. After visiting Mr.Bataky, Matt s perspective of himself begins to change. The Goodness of Matt Kaizer begins with Matt as insecure and heartless. He attempts to change the image that everyone expects of him due to his father s reputation. Early in the story, Matt Kaizer was insecure; he tried to do anything that would help him fit in. Reverend Kaizer, Matt s father, is known as an upstanding member in the community. He is a well respected man and Matt is adamant to be unlike him. Because Matt and his father converse, Matt s insecurities are revealed, Matt, I do believe that there is goodness in everyone. That goes for you too ... I m not good Matt insisted... Long as my friends dare me to do bad things, I ll do them (Avi 36). Matt Kaizer is insecure about how others perceive him, since he is the son of a minister. Matt Kaizer would have taken on any dare that his friends give him. No matter how deplorable it would seem, he would take it as he is desperate to not to be as his father s son. He is insecure about the way people perceive him as a reverend s son, because a large weight rest on his shoulders to be good. The first dimension in Hofstede s cultural dimensions is the power distance. This is the degree in which people in a particular culture view the unequal distribution of power as acceptable (McCornack, 2015). Brazil has a much higher belief in power distance than the United States. In Brazil there is a large power distance, which means that they believe that each person has a place in the social hierarchy, that authorities should not be challenged, that hierarchy and inequality are appropriate and actually benefit the society (Comparing Brazilian Culture to American Culture, n.d.). This is very different to American culture because America was founded on challenging the government. Our constitution was made so that we can challenge our government and keep its power in check, so the government does not abuse its power. Most Americans also believe that inequality is bad for our country. We have gone through many periods of inequality in this country and we look back on them to see what we did wrong and how we can do better now as to not repeat our mistakes. Another dimension is the uncertainty avoidance, Cultures vary in how much they tolerate and accept unpredictability (McCornack, 2015). Brazil has a high uncertainty avoidance culture. Cultures like Brazil make rigid rules and set regulations to try and cut down on uncertainty. This can be seen in their history of military leaders as leaders of the country. Brazil is a high context society, which means they put a strong emphasis on how the message is said rather than focusing on the words used alone. Examples of this include Brazilians will sometimes exaggerate a point but it will be done in a way that the others know it to be an exaggeration. Brazil is also a collectivistic culture. When an individual ponders Casablanca, they may think of the romance aspect of it, but that is only one facet of this film. Although it probably was not viewed as such at the time, Casablanca is a historical record depicting the events of World War II. This film not only shows events and situations that occurred, but shows how people felt about those incidents. There are many characters from different heritages in the film, and the actors portrayal of a certain type of person, whether American or Bulgarian, can give an idea as to how Americans or Bulgarians felt in real life at the time. Even though there is one American in the film, the viewer can discern how Americans were perceived by others by the acting of that one American; one is almost forced to assume that is what Americans are like since there was just that one character. Through this film, one can tell if the people who made it wanted to promote American involvement in the war; an individual can also see a portrayal of Americans and their allies during the war; there is a depiction of the nature of the war and the violence that ensued because of it; and cultural components are shown. Rick is the only American in the film, and he is quite the all American man. To some, he would probably be considered good looking, he s quite successful with his business,
  • 27. The Problem Of Desertification ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE CONCERNS Desertification is an environmental and socio economic problem. Environmental justice is characterized by the equal sharing of risks and benefits, distributed equally without discrimination. The land affected falls in rural areas beyond the mainland which are primarily occupied by non Han ethnic minorities. These areas include the autonomous regions of Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, and Tibet, which have historically been oppressed. The social component of the problem creates a cycle in which poverty exacerbates desertification, and in turn, desertification aggravates poverty. The cycle will continue until the wellbeing of people living in desertified areas is considerably improved to the point where they no longer rely on degraded land for survival. Only then will they be able to limit their impact on desertified land. Chen and Tang further explain For degraded land, withdrawal of farmlands and enclosing pastures in order to exclude grazing are undoubtedly the most effective ways to prevent further desertification. These measures would deprive local people of their sole livelihood. Attempts to reduce desertification have neglected the human component of the problem. As a solution, Wang et al. suggest that outward migration with a carefully considered relocation policy is an important choice for desertified areas that are judged to be beyond ecological carrying capacity. Miao et al. echo this idea, explaining that reclamation efforts

A genocide, which has occurred since ancient times, is the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a particular ethnic group or nation. During World War I, the Turkish nationalist government killed an estimate of 1.1 to 1.8 million Armeniansin Eastern Turkey. The Ottoman s took power in the Armenian genocidethrough classification, preparation, extermination, and denial. The Ottoman s took power in the Armenian genocide through classification. All cultures have categories to distinguish people into us and them which shows the social differences between the majority and minority groups. This division occurs because of differences in ethnicity, race, religion, nationality, culture, or language and serves to drive the us versus them mentality needed to progress further along in the stages of genocide. Bipolar societies that lack mixed categories, are most likely to have a genocide, which is considered to be classification. The classification that happened during the Armenian genocide was that the Turks were Muslim and Armenians were Christians, Muslims dominated society and Armenians were viewed as unfaithful to Allah. In the preparation stage, victims were identified and then separated, death lists were drawn up and the victims were forced to wear identifying symbols.

Your life is worth it, and putting yourself at risk makes you a careless person. In 2012, 7,500 teens and young adults between the ages of 16 24 were killed in a car crash. 60% were not wearing a seatbelt out of 34,080. Every 16 minutes, someone dies in an accident and about 89 people lose their lives each day. Wearing a seatbelt slows your body down and decreases how far your body goes before it stops and wearing a seatbelt prevents you from flying out of the car and decreases the chance of damaging your body. People think that since they are only going a short distance, they don t need a seatbelt because it s not like they re going to get into an accident for the three blocks they re traveling to. They re wrong about that. Studies show that 50% of fatal accidents happen near their home or workplace. As a car is going 55 MPH and it hits a solid object, the rest of the car is still going 55 MPH even when a car frame has stopped. While the rear end is going 35 MPH, your body is still traveling at 55 MPH. Seatbelts saved around 13,941 lives in 2015 and it could ve saved 2,814 more people if they were wearing a seatbelt. His works are all windows into his mind, a literary psychoanalysis. He examines himself as a cog in the corporate machine in Deer in the Works ; as a writer through the eyes of Kilgore Trout in several works; and most importantly, as a prisoner of war in Slaughterhouse Five. Vonnegut created short stories and novels that dealt with events in his life. One of the most obvious self examinations is in Deer in the Works . There he began to recall the events that occurred there in 1945. The protagonist of Slaughterhouse Five is Billy Pilgrim. His situation in the war was identical to VonnegutГёs, and Pilgrim is used by Vonnegut to examine what happened in Dresden. Pilgrim has the ability to travel in time, the manifestation of VonnegutГёs 1968 trip to Dresden. Pilgrim relives the night the city of Dresden was destroyed, and ponders the uselessness of the act. After the publishing of Slaughterhouse Five in 1969, Vonnegut told Playboy, I didnГёt have to write at all anymore if I didnГёt want to (Wampeters 280). Slaughterhouse Five helped Kurt Vonnegut lay to rest some of the memories that had haunted him since 1945. Vonnegut later claimed, The importance of Dresden in my life has been considerably exaggerated because my book about it became a best seller. If the book hadnГёt been a best seller, it would seem like a very minor experience in my life. And I donГёt think peopleГёs lives are changed by short term events like that. Dresden was astonishing, but experiences can be astonishing without changing you (Reed 776). Despite these claims to the contrary, the experiences at Dresden had always played a large part in his writings.

Consequently, as evidenced by the protagonists evolution in Gift of Cochise, All the Pretty Horses, and The Martian, the foretold frontier hero defined in Turner frontier hypothesis only earns claim to the title of hero after prospering in the face of unplanned isolation and proving their worth as a rugged individual. While Angie openly embraces the tumultuous life on the frontier for the sake of her family in The Gift of Cochise, her heroism grows only after the abandonment of her husband through her steadfast resolve to stand up against the ostensibly unjust Cochise. • 35. Life Is Precious In Human Life Life is a precious gift from God. It is precious because He created it and declares it so in His Word. It is meant not only to be enjoyed, but also respected. Life is not flippant and is not in our hands or under our authority to bring into or take out of existence. That alone is God s power and His authority. Mass shootings and terrorist attacks are an abomination to God because it shows people taking God s role and authority and applying it to their own wicked, fallen, and human selves. They ignore and slight God s deity and supreme authority by deciding for themselves who lives and who dies. Life is not theirs to take. Human life is sacred, it is so precious because mankind is made in the image of God and bears His image here on earth. Violation of the sanctity of human life is not only a recent or modern issue. It goes way back to the dawn of creation with Adam and Eve s first generation. In Genesis 4:8 10 the Bibles tells of Cain rising up against Abel, his brother, and killing him. Cain s initial sin wasn t murder. The root of that sin was disobedience then jealousy and bitterness which was what led to the murder of Abel. God most definitely did not take this sin lightly. He said in verse 10 ...the voice of thy brother s blood crieth unto me from the ground . God was grieved at Abel s death and at the disrespect of Cain taking God s matters, that is, life and death, into his own feeble and foolish hands. Ultimately, sin starts in the heart. Patrick continues his eternal search for light because he has none of his own to emit. The central theme behind many stories is the loss and regaining of identity. A Rose for Emily is a story that shows how the insanity of one woman is able to shock an entire town, even in death. When first reading A Rose for Emily, anyone can see how twisted Emily Grierson is. Not only for the fact that she was sleeping in the same bed as a corpse, but because this was not the first time that she had kept a dead body in her house. While her family does have a history of mental instability, stating that, remembering old lady Wyatt, her great aunt, had gone completely crazy at last (section II), she is able to out do the impossible and create an aura of mystery that surrounds her both during life and death. After reading this story, it makes the audience question not only the reasoning that Emily has behind not only killing Homer, but keeping his body trapped in her house up until she met death as well. It also brings to attention how much the townsfolk actually influenced the progression of insanity that caused Emily and those around her, so much turmoil. For example, if the townsfolk had not used Emily as a source of entertainment and gossip, would she have stayed the recluse? While, the townsfolk are not to blame, it makes readers wonder: what if? Another question that I had while reading this story is, who was the narrator? The narrator, whoever they are, is able to
