Essay On I Have The Right To Bear Arms
Within the past half century, gun control has become a heated debate topic between Americans.
The United States Federal government should not increase gun control regulations. The second
Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of
a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. By this, it is
understood that each citizen has the right to possess firearms and use them under the realms of a
cautious manner. This amendment was written under the intentions of protecting Americans from
dangers, both foreign and domestic. After experiencing the tyranny of Britain, Americans wanted to
ensure protection for both themselves and their loved ones from ... Show more content on

At certain points in history, gun sales to civilians have been prohibited by law. In 1976, Washington
D.C. implemented a gun ban that potentially worsened the city s homicide rate. According to the
Metropolitan Police Department, annual homicides rose from 188 in 1976 to 364 in 1988 and
continued increasing to 454 in 1993. The gun ban was struck down by the Supreme Court in District
of Columbia v. Heller and since, homicides have steadily declined to 88 annual murders in 2012. This
statistic shows that depriving the right to bear arms from law abiding citizens is ineffective in
decreasing the number of homicides as criminals will find a way to obtain a gun even with a gun ban
in place. The law abiding citizens will be left vulnerable as the criminals will have defenseless victims
to attack. The United States has attempted to put gun bans into place in the past. However, these
regulations have been repetitively ineffective. Because of the ineffectiveness of gun bans and the
overall counter result of an increase in homicides, it would be in best interest, for the safety of
Americans, to not implement an increase on Federal gun control

Essay On Mike Trout
Mike Trout, Mike Trout is the best current player in the MLB right now. He is a dominate hitter,
fielder and a great teammate. Mike Trout is a 6 2, 235lb player from Vineland New Jersey. He is in the
top five in the league for all statistics except for strikeouts, not including the players that had one ten
at bats because then they can have crazy stats. Some categories he is number 1 is he scored the most
runs and walks. Mike Trout is the best player in the MLB. Mike trout has a better than .300 batting
average. This is a main key to becoming a great baseball player. One thing good baseball players have
is constancy; you need consistency to keep a better than .300 batting average. Mike Trout has a very
similar batting average to the great Barry Bonds, Barry Bonds batted just under .300 and Mike Trout
bats .306, Barry bonds is considered to be one of the greatest hitters of all time. This shows that Mike
Trout can be compared to many players in the hall of fame, such as Jackie Robinson, Babe Ruth, Ty
Cobb, Pete Rose and many more. Jackie Robinson, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb had better batting averages
then him but not by much, though he has a better batting average than Pete Rose. Jackie Robinson
batted .311, Babe Ruth batted around the mid .300 s, and Ty cobb batted way up in the .300, ... Show

He won the MVP in the 2014 and two straight all star game MVP s, in 2015 and 2016. Trout was also
a nominee for the 2016 MVP, but losing to Jose Altuve. To win an MVP you need to have good
batting statistics and be a good fielder. Mike Trout has both of those making him a start player
winning MVPs. Mike Trout won two straight all star game MVPs, an all star game is the best players
from each division play against each other. Their for he is playing ageist and with the best players in
the MLB so to win an MVP once is impressive but twice is insane. Mie trout also has many years to

Summary Of Happy Like God By Simon Critchley
What makes one person feel happy, may not make another person feel the same kind of feeling. All
people around the world look at and feel happiness in different ways than others. Happiness is
something that is extremely personal and very much varies from person to person. For example,
someone who likes thrills and adventures, such as an extrovert, would reach more energy and
happiness more than an introvert would. Whereas an introvert, would find more happiness and energy
when doing more laid back activities, such as reading a book by a warm window, baking some warm,
fresh cookies, or working out indoors on a treadmill or elliptical, instead of going out for a run in a
park or having a night on a town, in a loud night club. Everyone knows, at least one, activity in their
day to day life that they enjoy or find happiness doing.
In Simon Critchley s passage called Happy Like God, Critchley explains how he read a passage that
he thought was extraordinary and was good enough to write an essay on. The passage was from
Rousseau s final book, Reveries of a Solitary Walker. The passage described the experience of
someone floating on a rowboat on Lake of Bienne, next to the writer s native town, in his native
country. Critchley explains how he thinks this is the closest description of happiness he can imagine.
Ultimately, this would make people assume that Critchley finds most of his happiness from relaxing
activities than crazy, loud and overwhelming ones.
Critchley further goes on, expressing his thoughts on happiness by saying, Happiness is not
quantitative or measurable and it is not the object of any science, old or new. It cannot be gleaned
from empirical surveys or programmed into individuals through a combination of behavioral therapy
and anti depressants. If it consists in anything, then I think that happiness is this feeling of existence,
this sentiment of momentary self sufficiency that is bound up with the experience of time (Critchley
560). What he means by this, is that people learn to be happy by maturity, time and experiences. In the
passage, maybe Rousseau likes lying on a boat in the water because perhaps he had a house near a
great body of water and would hear the sounds of the waves crashing onto

How Social Media Shapes Musical Identities
The following proposal will be an overview of a short documentary project that will analyze and
discuss how social media shapes musical identities. To do this I will use Instagram, YouTube, and
Facebook to consider the interactions that happen through these mediums and also look into how this
relationship can form musical identities. Thus, I will use interview subjects who I will film interviews
with myself and I will also interview and use videos of fellow students on Mike Johnston s online
student page. I will use Jimmie Manning s chapter in the book, Beyond New Media by Herbig,
Herrmann, and Tyma to discuss the intricate nature of identity throughout this proposal to identify
some of the areas of focus such as public music identity and social mediated music identity. I will also
use things like Mcgee s theory of fragmentation and Megan Foley s sound bites to explain how
subjects subsume their social mediated music identities.
For this project I would like to do a short three to four minute documentary to analyze how social
media helps shape peoples musical identity in this technological era. I can only give an estimate at this
time because I know a lot of people who have said they would like to contribute to this project.
However, I also know life happens so that number may change that is why I have chosen to leave the
length a little open ended. The documentary will follow about four subjects five, including a few
appearances of myself. It will follow two

Anne Bradstreet Essay
Of the three poems to Anne Bradstreet s deceased grandchildren, In Memory of My Dear Grandchild
Anne Bradstreet is the longest. It s interesting that the longest is also written in memory of the
grandchild who shared her name. One would presumably be especially close to their namesake. The
first line of the poem sets the tone: With troubled heart and trembling hand I write. The younger Anne
s death has obviously affected Bradstreet in a deep way and it is easy to picture her writing these
words with a shaking hand and tears in her eyes. Perhaps seeing a child with her name die reminds
Bradstreet of her own mortality, as she is nearing the age of sixty. This grandchild also dies at the
oldest age of the three, at three years and seven months ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As is often evident in Bradstreet s poetry, she is caught between her Puritan belief that she should not
become attached to earthly things, including people, and her natural human desire to love. The word
price is synonymous with the word cost, and it sounds like she is saying that she should value things
according to what they will cost her emotionally. The line also reminds me of the phrase pay the price,
which means to suffer the consequences for risking something. In this case, the risk is becoming
attached to a child who could easily

Education Is An Important Aspect Of Teaching And Teaching
Critically evaluate the extent that performativity in education has on developing creativity in learning
and teaching and assess the impact that this has on individuals
Introduction
As a concept towards education, performativity is one that seems to strongly divide opinion. There are
many scholars who argue that an increasing emphasis on performativity within education has a
detrimental effect on the levels of creativity that students and teachers can demonstrate, and in turn
negatively effects the results of the educational process. On the other hand there are those that believe
that performative analysis within education plays an important role in highlighting areas of success,
and areas that require improvement. Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education) agree that
creativity is an important aspect of teaching and learning, however they also believe that a disciplined
structure is important to allow this creativity to be successful:
Occasionally, teachers fail to grasp that creative learning was not simply a question of allowing pupils
to follow their interests; careful planning was needed for enquiry, debate, speculation,
experimentation, review and presentation to be productive. (Ofsted, 2010)
Fostering creativity in education is intended to address many concerns. As Parkhurst summarises, this
includes dealing with ambiguous problems, coping with the fast changing world and facing an
uncertain future (Parkhurst, 1999). Other scholars such as Poole (1980) argue

Meditation Analysis
Before I take this class, I know that meditation is just sitting on the floor, close eyes and meditating.
Because I did not know how to do it, I didn t know how difficult it is. The first day of meditation
class, I had hard time to follow. We were sitting on the chair instead of floor. I thought meditation is
only sitting on the floor. It was interesting. Probably sitting on the chair is easier than floor; we all
used to sitting on the chair. I tried both at home on the floor, chair and bed. Sitting on the chair was the
best. It was comfortable and my body was more relax.
The first meditation in the class was difficult because I had too much thought in my mind. I was trying

During I am taking meditation class, I did meditation almost everyday. It was easy to sitting on the

that I am hiking. While I imagine them, I kept aware of present moment.

Summary Of Fences By August Wilson
August Wilson found that it was important to keep Black plays alive. According to Sandra Shannon
Wilson is widely known for his celebrated causes, first in 1990 for his high published demand for a
black director for the play Fences. (Shannon 604). This leads into the beginning of the play and how
the reader is supposed to view Troy as a person. Wilson believed in the rights of blacks and he shows
this by having his main character Troy fight for his right to be a driver instead of a hard labor worker
at his job at the land fill. Because of the way blacks were treated and viewed on the job site Troy was
afraid to speak up about his feelings. Eventually, Troy built up the courage to go and speak to his boss,
after the conversation Troy finds

Turing Test Paper
Computationalists and representationalists believe that machines can think. Like Alan Turing they
believe a simple test called the Turing Test will be sufficient to prove consciousness because
intelligence is an operational attribute that allows symbol manipulation. (Heil, 115) In this paper I will
argue that their claim is bogus, computers could never, in their current state, be classified as a minded.
Thus the Turing Test is an invalid test. The Turing Test, created by Alan Turing, tests for intelligence
in a systematic way, giving intelligence an operational meaning. Turing believed that humans could
one day create an artificial intelligence (AI for short) since his definition was liberal. The basic
premise of the Turing Test is that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

General George Washington And His Continental Army Had
General George Washington and his Continental Army had just defeated the English Army. In 1776,
the founding fathers of the United States of America signed the Declaration of Independence,
according to ushistory.org 60 delegates signed the document that granted the country we know today
as the United States free from British rule. Some of the men that inked their name into American
history were Thomas Jefferson. Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and John Hancock. From that point
on the United States was an independent nation. Being an independent nation means the founding

Now let s take a look at each of the amendments and determine the exact reason why our founding
fathers inserted them into our Constitution.
The first amendment of the United States states Congress shall make no law respecting an
establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech,
or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a
redress of grievances (Bill of Rights Institute). In simpler words this amendments means that any
citizen may practice any religion that he or she identifies as their faith. It also grants all citizens the
right to free speech. Free speech means that an individual can say whatever they wish, without any
restrictions, even if the words are inappropriate, disrespect any political leader or disrespect the
government itself. We have a right to say what we desire. The first amendment along with granting the
freedom of speech and the freedom of religion, allows freedom of press. This allows the press the
ability to publish what they desire, even if it is absurd or incorrect. The second amendment of the
United States Constitution states A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free
state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed (Bill of Rights Institute).

I Am A Master s Program At The University Of British...
I began a Master s program at the University of British Columbia School of Population and Public
Health last September. This was a culmination of my desire to understand the connections between
societal issues and life sciences, and to strengthen my problem solving skills in this regard. In the
short time that I have been at the program, I had the chance to understand more about what a career in
clinical trials would entail, and to develop the focus of my research thesis at an advanced level. My
exposure to clinical research has also confirmed my passion for the field, as there are days where I
work all through the night and into the early hours of the morning, sustained by sheer passion. In
consideration of these factors namely my skills, my academic interests and natural proclivities, I have
been inspired to transfer from the Masters to the PhD program. Ultimately, I intend to develop my
skills up to the doctoral level. It therefore makes sense to take on an opportunity to achieve this goal
sooner rather than later. While the Masters program has given me the opportunity to develop my thesis
research aims and interests, the PhD program will afford me the knowledge and hands on experience
to effectively and responsibly execute on my research interests. My research experiences and interests
till date and their impact on my choice to enroll in this program are described in more depth below.

Nursing Theory and Nursing Knowledge
Describe how nursing theory has helped facilitate the development of nursing knowledge. The nursing
profession has progressed greatly since it roots with Florence Nightingale, moving from reliance upon
total medical direction for providing basic care and the first duty of the nurse it that of obedience
absolute fidelity to his orders, even if the necessity of the prescribed measures is not apparent, you
have no responsibility beyond that of faithfully carrying out the directions received (Jennifer C.
Telford), into an autonomous practice with its own nursing theory practices, models, and
interventions. Theories are a set of interrelated concepts that give a systematic view of a phenomenon

For example in one study it shows despite the knowledge that caring does positively influence patients
and nurses, there are reports globally about the negative impact of uncaring and the call to improve
caring within our profession (Mary E. Desmond, et al., 2014). If every single patient was like the other
we wouldn t need to have a theory of caring, patients would be treated the same, a patient is a patient,
no difference from one to the other. This is not the case. So using nursing theory to improve and move
forward nursing knowledge as it has done so far can only improve an ever changing care continuum
that is known as nursing. This is how theory has changed and molded nursing knowledge and how we
practice. Works Cited Ida T. Bjork, K. L. M. (2013, October). From theoretical model to practial use:

Wolves Essay
Wolves
The wolf was once a much slandered animal. In the western world, people feared and hated wolves,
and this legacy is reflected in stories such as Little Red Riding Hood and The Boy Who Cried Wolf. In
these popular children s tales the wolf is made out to be a prowler and a killer of livestock and people.
There is some basis for The Boy Who Cried Wolf, for wolves have killed cattle and sheep. But what of
Little Red Riding Hood? There are no records of wolves killing humans in Canada or the United
States. Yet, when wolves were spotted near rural communities, fear used to grip the populace, but over
time this has become less prevalent.
Today, many people know that scientists studying wolves have lived very close to dens where there ...

A single pack may contain animals that are black, shades of gray brown, and white. Wolves in the
heavily forested areas of eastern North America are more uniform in color. They are often a grizzled
gray brown like some German shepherd dogs. This color variation is a good example of natural
selection, which enables those animals best suited to a particular environment to survive. On the arctic
islands, where much of the ground is snow covered for at least nine months of the year, being white is
a distinct advantage, so wolves in the Arctic may be nearly white. In the mottled grey, green, and
brown world of the eastern forests the normal coat of the wolf is an effective camouflage. As a wolf
moves stealthily, or rests, it blends into the background and is hardly seen. Wolves in the Arctic have
extremely dense under fur, which insulates them against rigorous winters. Another adaptation to
environment is their habit of hunting in packs, or groups, which enables them to kill large animals.
The wolves habit of hunting in packs has resulted in the development of complex patterns of social
behavior. Wolves are gregarious: they not only hunt in packs or groups but live most of their lives with
other wolves. Studies in Alaska, Minnesota, Michigan , and parts of Canada show that a family made
up of male, female, and pups is the basic pack unit. Other adults are pups of previous years or, more
rarely, adults from other packs. Adolescent

Essay on America Should Not Use Military Force in Iraq
Dear Americans:
After the successful anti terrorism war in Afghanistan, are we going to fight another war on Iraq? In
almost every statement on foreign policy, Bush states his belief on his war against Iraq and depicts
Saddam Hussein as an evil. A recent poll showed that nearly seven in 10 supported military action to
force Saddam Hussein from power (Public Agenda). Before you make your decision, do you think a
war after Iraq is justified by International law and US law? Do you know the current situation and the
background of Iraq and the Middle East world? Do you think getting rid of Hussein can stop terrorists
attack on America? Have you thought about the huge capital cost of the war, the casualties of US

Now President Bush has declared his intention to wage a preemptive war against Iraq (Messineo and
Hilliard). Preemptive war means we can attack Iraq in the first place just because we believe Iraq is
supporting terrorists and we believe Iraq will attack us in the future. Then who can justify whether
what we believe is right or wrong? What if some terrorists attack us first just because they believe that
US will attack them in the future?
We can clearly see the injustice of the war by other countries responses. Fighting the al Qaeda
terrorists in Afghanistan was a right action against terrorists. Most countries around the world
supported us. But on the issue of war on Iraq, even though Bush tries his best to persuade other
countries leaders, most key countries are still against it (BBC news). For example, Germany argues
that international efforts to fight terrorism, rebuild Afghanistan and calm the conflict in the Middle
East could be destabilized by a strike against Iraq ; France has serious reservations about an attack on
Iraq ; Russia indicates that it might agree to attack Iraq only under UN authority if Baghdad blocks the
work of weapons inspectors (BBC news). Most Middle East Arabian countries are strongly against
military action on Iraq before every possible effort on peace talk has made and before the United
Nation has

Free Trade And Trade Agreements
Free Trade
Free trade is a policy in which the government does not interfere against imports or impedes with
exports by applying tariffs (Encyclopedia, 2015). Free trade is about removing barriers like tariffs,
quotas, and other restrictions. Tariffs are taxes that the countries enforce on imported goods and
services, they are set in place to make trade harder. This ultimately causes the price of goods and
services for consumers to be more expensive. Quotas are a limited quantity countries put on imports
and exports. Barriers to trade is a government limitation on the amount of international goods and
services. Countries decide to put up barriers on trade for the sole purpose of protecting their own
economy and interests. The United States has free trade agreements with 20 countries, including the
North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the Tran Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), and
the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T TIP). There are many advantages and
disadvantages with free trade agreements. The North American Free Trade Agreement was
implemented in 1994, it consists of three countries; Canada, Mexico, and the United States. NAFTA is
the largest free zone which sets the groundwork for a stronger economic development as well as the
raise in prosperity between this countries (NAFTA, 2013). For the three countries in the agreement,
NAFTA has removed tariffs and non tariff barriers such as quotas, licensing and other limitations.

demilitarization. This was a program that was important to the post war program for may reasons.
Demilitarization is the process of disbanding a nations armed forces. In this case it was Japanese.
MacArthur who created this was very quick to achieve this goal and he left Japan with only small
police forces. Everyone knew that Japan was a very aggressive fighting nation. Their military had
fueled so much hatred in WWII which led to them being defeated brutally many times. For example
when the US had sent atomic bombs they knew Japan was full of

Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) is a gram positive, rod shaped, anaerobic bacteria. It causes a range
of diseases ranging from benign diarrhoea to pseudomembranous colitis which is inflammation of the
colon (1). Our intestinal homeostasis is maintained by several elements such as a complex microbial
community which accounts for 70% of total microbiota in humans, tight epithelial barrier and immune
tolerance. Certain antibiotics can disrupt this homeostasis resulting in an increase in colonisation from
pathogens e.g. C. difficile leading to a development of full phenotype C. difficile infection (CDI)
which requires the previous use of antibiotics (1,2, 3).

Background Fast Cat, Inc. was founded in 2001 by three Minnesota engineers. Our three founders
each had previous experience at different software companies. When the three partners collaborated
with their previous experience, ideas, and resources they landed on the idea of serving the niche
market of healthcare software. They felt that this industry was underserved, especially in small and
medium sized medical facilities. Prior to the emergence of our software, medical providers were going
to great lengths to house medical records that quickly became very expensive. Patients were frustrated

Game of Thrones Essay
The Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin A Game of Thrones is set in the Seven Kingdoms of
Westeros, a land reminiscent of medieval Europe. Fifteen years prior to the novel, the Seven
Kingdoms were torn apart by a civil war, known as the War of the Usurper. Prince Rhaega Targaryen
kidnapped Lyanna Stark angering her family and of her fiancé, Lord Robert Baratheon. The Mad
King, Aerys II Targaryen had Lyanna father and brother executed when they demanded her safe return.
Her second brother, Eddard, joined his boyhood friend Robert Baratheon and Jon Arryn in declaring
war against the ruling Targaryen dynasty. The civil war ended when Prince Rhaegar was killed in
battle by Robert Baratheon. The wealthiest family around The Lannisters ... Show more content on

Each perspective is held within a chapter which, when the characters move away from each other,
allows the author to leave minor cliff hangers at the end of each chapter. While six of the characters
from this first book are from the same family, the perspective is shifted around in preceding books.
Death is common is this book and it s was one of the best things about it because it played well to the
realism of the time that is depicted. Main characters are not safe like in other novels I have read and
this made for very exciting reading. Self preservation is often the cause for character splits and
confrontations, and by the end of the book characters you assumed you would be attached too for
some time are left headless and gutless or simply gone.
The novel, A Game of Thrones, begins with an encounter with supernatural beings; this may give a
false impression as to what will come. As the story begins to unfold, the theme moves strongly into
the area of political intrigue and this forthcoming war that will happen as a result. The fantasy
element, while always there plays only a minor role in the majority of the rest of the book. A Game of
Thrones in not your usual fare, it is hard hitting and bad things do happen to the good people. Two
families take centre stage in a battle for the Throne the Starks and the Lannisters. The Stark family

Symbol of Being in Patricia Jabbeth Wesley´s There´s...
In There s Nothing You Can Do , by Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, Patricia exposes the many aspects of life
that cannot be changed. Through the poem, she shows a realization of something that most do not ever
understand or even grasp. She notes, through different scenarios, that life will happen no matter what,
and she must adapt to anything life throws her way. Wesley tells about chilling situations, troubled
children, quarrels of parenting, inescapable aging, unavoidable nationality, and the surety that she
cannot change life. She writes about her take on living through how people have a different symbol of
their being, a different picture of what life looks like, and approach life with a different tone. Humans
do not have a choice in the matter of which race or gender they occupy, but are politically
distinguished through political opinions. Through
There s Nothing You Can Do , Patricia Jabbeh Wesley finds that the absoluteness of life is an
inevitable as breath.
Almost all writing is political. It can even come in the form of everyday situations that are dealt with
by human nature. Power structure, the ranking of classes, rights, and racial, gender, or ethnic groups
are all examples of political aspects of life. In There s
Nothing You Can Do , Wesley first talks about being on a plane during a thunderstorm.
She expresses her panic by saying Nothing, to quell that old fear of crashing. / Nothing about the first

The First Day Of English Class
I look the first debate judge in the eyes and he nods. Then my gaze drifts to the second one and she
smiles. Finally I look to my right at my final judge, he simply winks at me. I close my eyes and count
to three. It s finally time to begin; this is my time. These next three minutes everyone has to listen to
me and my opinion. I open my mouth, but the only thought going through my head is, why? Why am I
doing this? Why am I here? Why did I make this mistake?
It was the first day of English class and the teacher asked, who here has ever given a class presentation
before? I looked around hoping, praying, that someone else is like me. However fate was not on my
side. Every hand in the class was proudly raised high and I was all alone on my little island of fear.
The teacher looked directly at me and asked why I had not ever done a presentation. I m a clicker, I
mumbled, it was barely audible but the teacher heard it and his face softened. Well Mr. Peschansky it s
time you become a talker.
A psychological study done in the early 70 s found that people are more afraid of public speaking then
of death. Standing at the front of the room in my first debate tournament I realize just how true that is.
All I can hear is my heart hammering away in my chest, my legs feel like they are going to give and I
m shaking all over.

The Veil Of Oppression Essay
As a Turk, I view the veil as a symbol of oppression and male dominance; as a Spaniard, the veil is a
beautiful accessory worn by passionate female flamenco dancers to emphasize character. When I was
asked to cover myself with a burqa at the Sultanahmet Mosque in Istanbul, my home city, I sensed a
growing uneasiness as a hot blooded Spaniard in Istanbul s most respected location. Clearly displaced,
I felt as if I was insulting my Spanish family by ultimately succumbing to authority and hiding my
body. I offended the confident spirit of the flamenco dancers that I so admire. In the mosque, I felt
entirely Spanish as I came to understand my place as a knot between the Middle Eastern and Spanish
sides of my family. I see beyond dualism as I carry the layered perspectives of my cultures and
ancestry. Identity extends beyond a single point of origin, nationality, ... Show more content on

The veil of oppression is their fuel for protest and activism; it is the same fight against oppression that
forced my ancestors to escape Crete and find refuge within Turkey s walls. The fervor and life that I
experience when in Spain is particularly appealing whenever I visit Madrid or Sevilla. However, the
same passion and excitement so prevalent in the city is particularly absent in my Spanish family.
Rather than embracing their connection to Spain s daily vigor and movement, my family has isolated
itself within their aristocracy and is submerged in depression and distanced affection. As I refine my
relations with each country, I use my Turkish family s strength as a means to inspire my own purpose.

The Theory Of Social Enterprise
When I first start on this module, I feel really odd about what exactly a social enterprise is. In our
daily life, there are tens of thousands businesses among us, but I have never thought about what makes
those business exits, what aims they are trying to achieve and what kind of business they are. When
thinking of social enterprise, I feel interested in how they run the business in a long term if it is not
profit driven, and how they maintain the daily operation with perhaps very little social capital
investment. My understanding of this module built upon everyday readings, seminar preparations and
workshops, as well as group discussions, Gregson Centre s visit and learning packs of various social
concepts from different groups day by day.
What gave me the deep impressions at first is the three system of economy model proposed by Pearce
(2003). The diagram is totally new to me but it is not that hard to understand. The diagram divides the
economy into three systems and each of which can be seen to be based on deferent principles and
values. Each system is about a different way of managing the economy. The first system can be
referred to as the private sector, it is profit driven and their principle is to maximize returns for private
shareholders. The first system operates through the free marketplace, meeting needs through the
production of goods and the provision of services by companies. The second system can be
conventionally referred to as the public sector. It is

Human Trafficking In Sex Trafficking
Sex Slavery is still recognized as the fastest growing illicit crime industry producing an estimated
twenty four billion dollar in profit; sex trafficking ranks third amongst illicit offenses. Sex slaver
serves as the face of modern day sex trafficking exploiting millions of women and children every year
within or across international borders. This illegal industry involves recruiting, transporting, and
receipt of children or adults solely for self exploitation. In other words, its seen as a horrendous crime,
an assault on freedom and human dignity. It is palpable that sex slavery impacts all countries all over
the world, although some countries experience greater levels compared to others. Notwithstanding
motives for sex trafficking are both multifaceted and interrelated. Higher risk countries are those with
fractured government s, vulnerability due to poverty, the absence of sufficient protection against
discrimination, and economic decline. Somalia, a country more vulnerable to modern slavery, renders
the perfect opportunity to assess how individuals in searching for a better life ends up in the most

Do you have to pay to put fuel in a vehicle? I know I do and it s becoming more of a large burden

challenges of full service airline facing today
Topic: Challenges of full service airlines facing today
1. Introduction
Full service airline is defined as an airline that focuses on providing a wide range of pre flight and
onboard services, including different service classes, and connecting flights that are also operating a
hub and spoke model (Reichmuth, 2008). According to Cento (2009), the core business of full service

Compare to the previous generation, the Youngers are more focusing on their budget rather the
coverage of services. For example, they may not care about the entertaining facilities provided as they
have their smart phone. Therefore, they may choose low cost airline or other transportations like
through train to save their costs. Therefore, the traditional airlines need to change their images and
strategies in order to fulfill the needs of customers. For example, the fanfares provided by The
Dragonair and Cathay Pacific Airline which providing high quality of service with lower price. And
the online promoting strategy which placing advertisement though social media platform such as
Facebook can establish a young and updated image of the airline in order to fulfill the needs of young
customers.
3. Suggested improvements and future of full service airlines
Although the full service airline cannot provide cheap fares as the low cost airline, they are still
remaining their competitive advantages. The good quality of service such as entertaining facilities
provided by the full service is their largest competitive advantage that cannot be replaced by the low
cost airlines. Cento (2009) writes that the major objective of the hub and spoke network in full service
airline is to provide full coverage of as many demand categories as possible. Therefore, the full service
airline is still occupying the market in premium travels. In order to

Joseph Turner Slave Ship Essay
My Initial Reaction to the Work
Out of the choices I had to pick from for my analysis. I chose the painting, Slave Ship by Joseph
Turner, due to the chaos I see in the painting. Not only is the event being portrayed very chaotic, but
the painting itself is full of turmoil as well. The painting has vigorous brush strokes and the colors
seem to melt together in areas, leaving the sky and the sea hard to distinguish in the middle portion of
the painting. The artist also uses bright and dark colors, allowing the creation of pandemonium that I
feel when I see this work. You can see the beginning of a storm on the left of the painting along with a
boat heading into the rougher waters caused by the weather, resulting in the bow to be propelled
upward.
The bottom portion of the painting is topsy turvy as well, showing shackled hands and chains raised
from the turbulent seas. With close inspection, you can see fish within the thrashing waves on the
bottom left portion of the painting. There are fish seen swarming a shackled hand in the bottom right
portion of the work as well. One could possibly argue that the fish are sea monsters. I also see
something that s hard for me to make out, but I think it may be an emergency boat partially emerged
from the waters. Lastly, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Strobel s Eight Objections To Belief In God
What Strobel does in this book is to give eight objections to belief in God that those of us who work

Since evil and suffering exist, a loving God cannot
Since miracles contradict science, they cannot be true
Evolution explains life so God isn t needed
God isn t worthy of worship since He kills innocent children
It is offensive to claim Jesus is the only way to God
A loving God would never torture people in Hell
Church history is littered with oppression and violence
I still have doubts so I can t be a Christian

This demonstrates and embodies how Phil Spector, the producer and creator of the Wall of Sound,
held power over the Crystals. It is said that in producing the song, Spector chose specific instruments
so that he could layer them in a way that would overshadow the voices...that just stopped short of
being busy. When listening to the track, Uptown, one is able to notice that the Crystals seem to be
trying to sing over the musical instrumentations. After the production of Uptown, a former Crystal

Nurses s Role As Health Care Advocates And Affect The...
The notes nurses take play an important part in their role as health care advocates and affect the
quality of care the patients receive. Notes are essential because they prove that the necessary care was
ensued upon the patient and can be used as a reference for other nurses who will be caring for the
patient. Notes can be used to advocate for the decisions the nurse had previously made in the case of
false allegations or complains therefore they should be detailed, unambiguous and comprehensible.
Nurses should avoid general statements as they tend to be misguiding or misleading and might cause
complications that could have a negative effect on the patient s comfort and health. Even though it
might be difficult nurses should aim to write out full medical terms whenever feasible. If nurses are
not able to write out the medical terms then they should use terms that are familiar to other nurses and
physicians. The notes that were provided are atrocious, faulty and dangerous because they aren t
objective, the data is not supported by descriptions of specific observations or actions taken and lastly
there s an abundance of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. Subjective descriptions tend to be
counterproductive as they don t provide sufficient information about the patient s current state, an
example from the notes would be Woke vitals at 10. To make the notes more objective the nurse
should state detailed vital signs and should aim to use measurable and calculable data

annoying neighbor Kimmy, DJ s best friend. The father of the three girls is Danny tanner and he
became a widowed father when his wife got killed in a car accident. Dj tanner is the oldest and acts
too old for her age and looks over her sisters a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has adult humor, real life problems, and down to earth solutions. I think that any age would enjoy
watching it because you can relate to real life problems and then connect them to your own. The
sweetness and the way that they all come together at times of need makes you feel happy and may
even help with some of your own problems. It also sometimes has cliffhangers and when an episode
ends you just want to watch more and find out what happens. In some episodes you can end up crying
because they are touching or just that great. Watching these episodes on a gloomy day or a bad day or
even when you are upset they will cheer you up and make you laugh because it s funny and great. This
show has good morals like somewhat relating to real world problems that occur in raising kids or just
in general what can happen in life. An example of something funny and is when Michelle helps with
the laundry and ends up putting too much soap in and it goes all over the laundry room. Another funny
moment from the show is when uncle Jesse runs out of hair spray and freaks out and that is similar to
real life

Gender In The Film Precious
jealous of Precious for stealing Carl s attention. He works the two women to his advantage of having
sex with both of them whenever he pleases. There is a running theme in this film that men feel as
though they are entitled to objectify women and that it is their right to have sex with any woman they
want. This is not just shown with Carl, but it is also seen when three young men begin to harass
Precious on her way home from Alternative School. They begin to shout verbal sexual abuse at her,
Let me get some of that sweet ass, mama! a nervous and frightened Precious ignores them and
continues on her way home when they shout at her again Did you hear the fuck I said? Gimme that
ass! at which at this point one of the young men run up behind ... Show more content on

She s distinctively different from Mary. We re introduced to her at the alternative school where she s
well dressed, well spoken and appears very intelligent, a trait that is rarely given to a female in many
films. Upon meeting Precious, Blue Rain invites her into her class, and presents her with a seat and
table. The first assignment of the day is for all the student to introduce themselves, state their name,
favourite colour, where their from , and something they re good at. Straight away Blue Rain is
determined as a woman who is genuinely interested in what the young girls have to say, she
encourages them to speak in class and helps them when they struggle with the task at hand. When
precious isn t ready to reveal information about herself, Blue Rain allows Precious to stay quiet and
does not push or force her to speak. She s very understanding and patient with the girls and nurtures
them and their classwork. As opposed to Mary s sharp, aggressive tone and language, Blu Rain is
much calmer, encouraging, and nurturing of the girls, in a soft but stern voice. While trying to help
Precious s reading along, Blue Rain notices Precious s worried facial expression Precious, honey are
you okay?? again, contrasting to Mary, Blue Rain really appears to have a connection with and care

Character Analysis Of Babamukuru In Nervous Conditions
In the story, Nervous Conditions, Babamukuru is Tambu, the main character s, uncle. He is an
essential character because his reactions dictate how all the other character s act and behave. He is the
father of two of the characters and the husband to another character, but always asserts himself in
everyone s life, because of his duty to the immediate and extended family. He is the disciplinarian and
parental figure to many of the characters. He is tough and not loveable to his kids, he especially makes
known his disappointment in his daughter. He acts more as if he is running a business than raising his
families status and overcome severe poverty. Babamukuru is the significant male character in the book
because he is a successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is never wrong and presents himself as very self righteous.
In this book, bias towards women is obvious. It is one of the main themes and is not hard to find.
Babmukuru at first suggests that Nhamo, Tambu s brother, be educated instead of Tambu because he is
a boy and she is a girl but after years at this school Nhamo has changed in a bad way and rejects his
family and learns a native language until eventually, he dies in a hospital away from his family. Only
then does Babmukuru offer Tambu to take the place of Nhamo and attend the missionary school by his
house. He becomes a prime example of discrimination in women s education. He yieldingly lets
Tambu go to a new school to higher her education even after she received a scholarship. Babmukuru s
alpha male dominance over all the other characters are, according to him, his duty, but it ends up being
crippling for the women s spirits. Another example of this gender issue is when Tambu is visiting her
family at the mission and discover that her aunt serves her uncle dinner and lets him finish eating
before serving herself or her children. The main character, Tambu, is trying to find herself and her own
voice but has a male figure around her that doesn t accept her growth because he thinks everything
should be done to his approval and she is contradicting it. Also, Tambu s father doesn t like that she is
going to school to get an education because once she gets married her wealth will go to

Father Pedro Arrupe Research Paper
His Mission
Father Pedro Arrupe was truly a man of God, born to lead the Jesuit s to greatness. Born in Bilbao,
Spain, he initially felt called to set the world ablaze through medicine. He undertook medical training
for a number of years, but decided his true calling lay with the Jesuits, joining in 1927. He was unable
to pursue his studies in Spain as the Republican government had expelled the Order. This did not deter
him, as he was unwavering in his pursuit of priesthood; he undertook his studies in the Netherlands
and Belgium. Soon, Pedro was ordained and well on his way to finding his place in the Order. The
Society sent him to The United States to study Medical Ethics, after which he set out to spread the
faith to Japan. In 1958, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Jesuits were accused of substituting politics for the gospel, and Arrupe was charged with leading
the Society astray.
Arrupe s time as Superior General was marked with turmoil, as critics believed that the he made too
radical changes and politicized the order. Despite frequent disparagement, Arrupe pressed onwards
with his reforms. Because of this, many people see Father Arrupe as the second founder of the Society
of Jesus. Like Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, he confronted the difficulties and challenges
the Jesuits faced in his day with brilliance, holiness, and courage. Despite witnessing horrible
atrocities, Arrupe believed God is everywhere in the world. He often said, All are called to know and
serve God, and put that belief into practice through his missionary work. This ethos was the sign of a
man truly born to serve others, a man who, through his compassion and love for others, set the world
ablaze.
A Man for Others
Father Arrupe brought light into the hearts of God s people the world over through his inspirational
leadership. Perhaps the best way of highlighting the profound effect he had on those who followed
him is by hearing their stories. Father Arrupe was genuinly concerned for the wellbeing of the
ordinary people. Dennis Murphy accompanied Father Arrupe to the Philippines. Here, he wanted to
know what ordinary urban poor people thought of these matters. He

My Father Lost My Life
In the Summer of 2012, my father lost his job. I was only 12, and I had little understanding as to why
my mother was so upset. My parents fought about my father s unemployment for days, leaving me
scared for the condition of my family. Eventually, my father went ahead and took out his life insurance
money, and I was left wondering why my father could not just find another job. Despite the fact that
my father had a side business, my family struggled. I watched as the food in my house diminished and
common necessities seemed to disappear. For each week in the month, my family only had fifty
dollars to spend on all the food we needed plus toiletries. Being that I was young, I had no
comprehension as to why I could not have the newest shoes or iPhone. I envied other kids that had a
kitchen filled with snacks and food, and as a result I tried to never be at home in my depressing
kitchen. To say the least, I was angry with the world. I felt outraged that I could not get simple things
such as a chocolate bar and I pondered on how I use to be able to pile stuff into a cart with no thought
about the bill that would be put on my father s bank account. I will admit, I was a spoiled child. I
could get away with buying hundreds of dollars worth of stuff and feel no remorse for my spending,
but alas, the reality of the economy and my father s unemployment hit me. There was a sense of
hopelessness in my heart. I often wondered if my parents marriage would survive, if we would have to
skip a meal or two, if I would have enough money for school supplies, and if college would even be
an option for me. I was forced to swallow my pride and accept that the easy life I once had was now
non existent. At the age of sixteen, my father still only had his side business. While this brought a
source of income, I knew it was not enough to support our family of three. I was at the age where I
could legally work so I sought out every job I could apply for and hoped that I could help my parents
in whatever way I could. Perhaps the most defining moment in my life was seeing how my mother and
father both sacrificed meals and necessities for me. This sent a sense of urgency throughout my being,
an urge in which I needed to give back to my

  • 2. Essay On I Have The Right To Bear Arms Within the past half century, gun control has become a heated debate topic between Americans. The United States Federal government should not increase gun control regulations. The second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. By this, it is understood that each citizen has the right to possess firearms and use them under the realms of a cautious manner. This amendment was written under the intentions of protecting Americans from dangers, both foreign and domestic. At certain points in history, gun sales to civilians have been prohibited by law. In 1976, Washington D.C. implemented a gun ban that potentially worsened the city s homicide rate. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, annual homicides rose from 188 in 1976 to 364 in 1988 and continued increasing to 454 in 1993. The gun ban was struck down by the Supreme Court in District of Columbia v. Heller and since, homicides have steadily declined to 88 annual murders in 2012. This statistic shows that depriving the right to bear arms from law abiding citizens is ineffective in decreasing the number of homicides as criminals will find a way to obtain a gun even with a gun ban in place. The law abiding citizens will be left vulnerable as the criminals will have defenseless victims to attack. The United States has attempted to put gun bans into place in the past. However, these regulations have been repetitively ineffective. Because of the ineffectiveness of gun bans and the overall counter result of an increase in homicides, it would be in best interest, for the safety of Americans, to not implement an increase on Federal gun control ... Mike Trout is a 6 2, 235lb player from Vineland New Jersey. Some categories he is number 1 is he scored the most runs and walks. Mike Trout is the best player in the MLB. Mike trout has a better than .300 batting average. This is a main key to becoming a great baseball player. One thing good baseball players have is constancy; you need consistency to keep a better than .300 batting average. Mike Trout has a very similar batting average to the great Barry Bonds, Barry Bonds batted just under .300 and Mike Trout bats .306, Barry bonds is considered to be one of the greatest hitters of all time. This shows that Mike Trout can be compared to many players in the hall of fame, such as Jackie Robinson, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Pete Rose and many more. Jackie Robinson, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb had better batting averages then him but not by much, though he has a better batting average than Pete Rose. • 5. Summary Of Happy Like God By Simon Critchley What makes one person feel happy, may not make another person feel the same kind of feeling. All people around the world look at and feel happiness in different ways than others. Happiness is something that is extremely personal and very much varies from person to person. For example, someone who likes thrills and adventures, such as an extrovert, would reach more energy and happiness more than an introvert would. Whereas an introvert, would find more happiness and energy when doing more laid back activities, such as reading a book by a warm window, baking some warm, fresh cookies, or working out indoors on a treadmill or elliptical, instead of going out for a run in a park or having a night on a town, in a loud night club. Everyone knows, at least one, activity in their day to day life that they enjoy or find happiness doing. In Simon Critchley s passage called Happy Like God, Critchley explains how he read a passage that he thought was extraordinary and was good enough to write an essay on. The passage was from Rousseau s final book, Reveries of a Solitary Walker. The passage described the experience of someone floating on a rowboat on Lake of Bienne, next to the writer s native town, in his native country. Critchley explains how he thinks this is the closest description of happiness he can imagine. Ultimately, this would make people assume that Critchley finds most of his happiness from relaxing activities than crazy, loud and overwhelming ones. Critchley further goes on, expressing his thoughts on happiness by saying, Happiness is not quantitative or measurable and it is not the object of any science, old or new. It cannot be gleaned from empirical surveys or programmed into individuals through a combination of behavioral therapy and anti depressants. If it consists in anything, then I think that happiness is this feeling of existence, this sentiment of momentary self sufficiency that is bound up with the experience of time (Critchley 560). What he means by this, is that people learn to be happy by maturity, time and experiences. In the passage, maybe Rousseau likes lying on a boat in the water because perhaps he had a house near a great body of water and would hear the sounds of the waves crashing onto ... It s interesting that the longest is also written in memory of the grandchild who shared her name. One would presumably be especially close to their namesake. The first line of the poem sets the tone: With troubled heart and trembling hand I write. The younger Anne s death has obviously affected Bradstreet in a deep way and it is easy to picture her writing these words with a shaking hand and tears in her eyes. Education Is An Important Aspect Of Teaching And Teaching Critically evaluate the extent that performativity in education has on developing creativity in learning and teaching and assess the impact that this has on individuals Introduction As a concept towards education, performativity is one that seems to strongly divide opinion. There are many scholars who argue that an increasing emphasis on performativity within education has a detrimental effect on the levels of creativity that students and teachers can demonstrate, and in turn negatively effects the results of the educational process. On the other hand there are those that believe that performative analysis within education plays an important role in highlighting areas of success, and areas that require improvement. Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education) agree that creativity is an important aspect of teaching and learning, however they also believe that a disciplined structure is important to allow this creativity to be successful: Occasionally, teachers fail to grasp that creative learning was not simply a question of allowing pupils to follow their interests; careful planning was needed for enquiry, debate, speculation, experimentation, review and presentation to be productive. (Ofsted, 2010) Fostering creativity in education is intended to address many concerns. As Parkhurst summarises, this includes dealing with ambiguous problems, coping with the fast changing world and facing an uncertain future (Parkhurst, 1999). For example in one study it shows despite the knowledge that caring does positively influence patients and nurses, there are reports globally about the negative impact of uncaring and the call to improve caring within our profession (Mary E. Desmond, et al., 2014). If every single patient was like the other we wouldn t need to have a theory of caring, patients would be treated the same, a patient is a patient, no difference from one to the other. This is not the case. So using nursing theory to improve and move forward nursing knowledge as it has done so far can only improve an ever changing care continuum that is known as nursing. This is how theory has changed and molded nursing knowledge and how we practice. Works Cited Ida T. Bjork, K. L. M. (2013, October). A single pack may contain animals that are black, shades of gray brown, and white. Wolves in the heavily forested areas of eastern North America are more uniform in color. They are often a grizzled gray brown like some German shepherd dogs. This color variation is a good example of natural selection, which enables those animals best suited to a particular environment to survive. On the arctic islands, where much of the ground is snow covered for at least nine months of the year, being white is a distinct advantage, so wolves in the Arctic may be nearly white. In the mottled grey, green, and brown world of the eastern forests the normal coat of the wolf is an effective camouflage. As a wolf moves stealthily, or rests, it blends into the background and is hardly seen. Wolves in the Arctic have extremely dense under fur, which insulates them against rigorous winters. Another adaptation to environment is their habit of hunting in packs, or groups, which enables them to kill large animals. The wolves habit of hunting in packs has resulted in the development of complex patterns of social behavior. Wolves are gregarious: they not only hunt in packs or groups but live most of their lives with other wolves. Studies in Alaska, Minnesota, Michigan , and parts of Canada show that a family made up of male, female, and pups is the basic pack unit. Other adults are pups of previous years or, more rarely, adults from other packs. Adolescent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fifteen years prior to the novel, the Seven Kingdoms were torn apart by a civil war, known as the War of the Usurper. Prince Rhaega Targaryen kidnapped Lyanna Stark angering her family and of her fiancé, Lord Robert Baratheon. The Mad King, Aerys II Targaryen had Lyanna father and brother executed when they demanded her safe return. Her second brother, Eddard, joined his boyhood friend Robert Baratheon and Jon Arryn in declaring war against the ruling Targaryen dynasty. Each perspective is held within a chapter which, when the characters move away from each other, allows the author to leave minor cliff hangers at the end of each chapter. While six of the characters from this first book are from the same family, the perspective is shifted around in preceding books. Death is common is this book and it s was one of the best things about it because it played well to the realism of the time that is depicted. Main characters are not safe like in other novels I have read and this made for very exciting reading. Self preservation is often the cause for character splits and confrontations, and by the end of the book characters you assumed you would be attached too for some time are left headless and gutless or simply gone. The novel, A Game of Thrones, begins with an encounter with supernatural beings; this may give a false impression as to what will come. As the story begins to unfold, the theme moves strongly into the area of political intrigue and this forthcoming war that will happen as a result. The fantasy element, while always there plays only a minor role in the majority of the rest of the book. • 25. Symbol of Being in Patricia Jabbeth Wesley´s There´s... In There s Nothing You Can Do , by Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, Patricia exposes the many aspects of life that cannot be changed. Through the poem, she shows a realization of something that most do not ever understand or even grasp. She notes, through different scenarios, that life will happen no matter what, and she must adapt to anything life throws her way. Wesley tells about chilling situations, troubled children, quarrels of parenting, inescapable aging, unavoidable nationality, and the surety that she cannot change life. She writes about her take on living through how people have a different symbol of their being, a different picture of what life looks like, and approach life with a different tone. Humans do not have a choice in the matter of which race or gender they occupy, but are politically distinguished through political opinions. Through There s Nothing You Can Do , Patricia Jabbeh Wesley finds that the absoluteness of life is an inevitable as breath. Almost all writing is political. It can even come in the form of everyday situations that are dealt with by human nature. Power structure, the ranking of classes, rights, and racial, gender, or ethnic groups are all examples of political aspects of life. These next three minutes everyone has to listen to me and my opinion. I open my mouth, but the only thought going through my head is, why? Why am I doing this? Why am I here? Why did I make this mistake? It was the first day of English class and the teacher asked, who here has ever given a class presentation before? I looked around hoping, praying, that someone else is like me. However fate was not on my side. Every hand in the class was proudly raised high and I was all alone on my little island of fear. The teacher looked directly at me and asked why I had not ever done a presentation. I m a clicker, I mumbled, it was barely audible but the teacher heard it and his face softened. Well Mr. Peschansky it s time you become a talker. A psychological study done in the early 70 s found that people are more afraid of public speaking then of death. Standing at the front of the room in my first debate tournament I realize just how true that is. The Veil Of Oppression Essay As a Turk, I view the veil as a symbol of oppression and male dominance; as a Spaniard, the veil is a beautiful accessory worn by passionate female flamenco dancers to emphasize character. Clearly displaced, I felt as if I was insulting my Spanish family by ultimately succumbing to authority and hiding my body. I offended the confident spirit of the flamenco dancers that I so admire. In our daily life, there are tens of thousands businesses among us, but I have never thought about what makes those business exits, what aims they are trying to achieve and what kind of business they are. When thinking of social enterprise, I feel interested in how they run the business in a long term if it is not profit driven, and how they maintain the daily operation with perhaps very little social capital investment. My understanding of this module built upon everyday readings, seminar preparations and workshops, as well as group discussions, Gregson Centre s visit and learning packs of various social concepts from different groups day by day. What gave me the deep impressions at first is the three system of economy model proposed by Pearce (2003). The diagram is totally new to me but it is not that hard to understand. The diagram divides the economy into three systems and each of which can be seen to be based on deferent principles and values. Each system is about a different way of managing the economy. The first system can be referred to as the private sector, it is profit driven and their principle is to maximize returns for private shareholders. The first system operates through the free marketplace, meeting needs through the production of goods and the provision of services by companies. I chose the painting, Slave Ship by Joseph Turner, due to the chaos I see in the painting. Not only is the event being portrayed very chaotic, but the painting itself is full of turmoil as well. The painting has vigorous brush strokes and the colors seem to melt together in areas, leaving the sky and the sea hard to distinguish in the middle portion of the painting. The artist also uses bright and dark colors, allowing the creation of pandemonium that I feel when I see this work. You can see the beginning of a storm on the left of the painting along with a boat heading into the rougher waters caused by the weather, resulting in the bow to be propelled upward. The bottom portion of the painting is topsy turvy as well, showing shackled hands and chains raised from the turbulent seas. With close inspection, you can see fish within the thrashing waves on the bottom left portion of the painting. There are fish seen swarming a shackled hand in the bottom right portion of the work as well. One could possibly argue that the fish are sea monsters. The notes nurses take play an important part in their role as health care advocates and affect the quality of care the patients receive. Notes are essential because they prove that the necessary care was ensued upon the patient and can be used as a reference for other nurses who will be caring for the patient. Notes can be used to advocate for the decisions the nurse had previously made in the case of false allegations or complains therefore they should be detailed, unambiguous and comprehensible. He is an essential character because his reactions dictate how all the other character s act and behave. He is the father of two of the characters and the husband to another character, but always asserts himself in everyone s life, because of his duty to the immediate and extended family. He is the disciplinarian and parental figure to many of the characters. He is tough and not loveable to his kids, he especially makes known his disappointment in his daughter. He acts more as if he is running a business than raising his families status and overcome severe poverty. Babamukuru is the significant male character in the book because he is a successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is never wrong and presents himself as very self righteous. In this book, bias towards women is obvious. It is one of the main themes and is not hard to find. Babmukuru at first suggests that Nhamo, Tambu s brother, be educated instead of Tambu because he is a boy and she is a girl but after years at this school Nhamo has changed in a bad way and rejects his family and learns a native language until eventually, he dies in a hospital away from his family. Only then does Babmukuru offer Tambu to take the place of Nhamo and attend the missionary school by his house. He becomes a prime example of discrimination in women s education. He yieldingly lets Tambu go to a new school to higher her education even after she received a scholarship. Babmukuru s alpha male dominance over all the other characters are, according to him, his duty, but it ends up being crippling for the women s spirits. Another example of this gender issue is when Tambu is visiting her family at the mission and discover that her aunt serves her uncle dinner and lets him finish eating before serving herself or her children. The main character, Tambu, is trying to find herself and her own voice but has a male figure around her that doesn t accept her growth because he thinks everything should be done to his approval and she is contradicting it. Also, Tambu s father doesn t like that she is going to school to get an education because once she gets married her wealth will go to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Father Pedro Arrupe Research Paper His Mission Father Pedro Arrupe was truly a man of God, born to lead the Jesuit s to greatness. Born in Bilbao, Spain, he initially felt called to set the world ablaze through medicine. He undertook medical training for a number of years, but decided his true calling lay with the Jesuits, joining in 1927. He was unable to pursue his studies in Spain as the Republican government had expelled the Order. This did not deter him, as he was unwavering in his pursuit of priesthood; he undertook his studies in the Netherlands and Belgium. Soon, Pedro was ordained and well on his way to finding his place in the Order. The Society sent him to The United States to study Medical Ethics, after which he set out to spread the faith to Japan. Arrupe s time as Superior General was marked with turmoil, as critics believed that the he made too radical changes and politicized the order. Despite frequent disparagement, Arrupe pressed onwards with his reforms. Because of this, many people see Father Arrupe as the second founder of the Society of Jesus. Like Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, he confronted the difficulties and challenges the Jesuits faced in his day with brilliance, holiness, and courage. Despite witnessing horrible atrocities, Arrupe believed God is everywhere in the world. He often said, All are called to know and serve God, and put that belief into practice through his missionary work. This ethos was the sign of a man truly born to serve others, a man who, through his compassion and love for others, set the world ablaze. A Man for Others Father Arrupe brought light into the hearts of God s people the world over through his inspirational leadership. Perhaps the best way of highlighting the profound effect he had on those who followed him is by hearing their stories. Father Arrupe was genuinly concerned for the wellbeing of the ordinary people. Dennis Murphy accompanied Father Arrupe to the Philippines. Here, he wanted to know what ordinary urban poor people thought of these matters. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. My Father Lost My Life In the Summer of 2012, my father lost his job. I was only 12, and I had little understanding as to why my mother was so upset. My parents fought about my father s unemployment for days, leaving me scared for the condition of my family. Eventually, my father went ahead and took out his life insurance money, and I was left wondering why my father could not just find another job. Despite the fact that my father had a side business, my family struggled. I watched as the food in my house diminished and common necessities seemed to disappear. For each week in the month, my family only had fifty dollars to spend on all the food we needed plus toiletries. Being that I was young, I had no comprehension as to why I could not have the newest shoes or iPhone. I envied other kids that had a kitchen filled with snacks and food, and as a result I tried to never be at home in my depressing kitchen. To say the least, I was angry with the world. I felt outraged that I could not get simple things such as a chocolate bar and I pondered on how I use to be able to pile stuff into a cart with no thought about the bill that would be put on my father s bank account. I will admit, I was a spoiled child. I could get away with buying hundreds of dollars worth of stuff and feel no remorse for my spending, but alas, the reality of the economy and my father s unemployment hit me. There was a sense of hopelessness in my heart. I often wondered if my parents marriage would survive, if we would have to skip a meal or two, if I would have enough money for school supplies, and if college would even be an option for me. I was forced to swallow my pride and accept that the easy life I once had was now non existent. At the age of sixteen, my father still only had his side business. While this brought a source of income, I knew it was not enough to support our family of three. I was at the age where I could legally work so I sought out every job I could apply for and hoped that I could help my parents in whatever way I could. Perhaps the most defining moment in my life was seeing how my mother and father both sacrificed meals and necessities for me. This sent a sense of urgency throughout my being, an urge in which I needed to give back to my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
