Exceptions To The Exclusionary Rule
Grounded in the Fourth Amendment is the Exclusionary Rule that bars illegally seized evidence.
However, modifications or exceptions to the Rule allow, once considered illegally seized evidence,
to be now allow in a court. These exceptions have been met with controversy or repudiation, but are
crucial to the criminal justice system to protect individual s constitutional rights and prosecute the
guilty. These exceptions include the plain view doctrine, independent source doctrine, inevitable
discovery doctrine, and the good faith doctrine. Furthermore, two concepts that are exceptions to
the constitutional requirements are the dying declaration and exigent circumstance. Finally, in
order to elicit a voluntary confession, officers can legally employ deception tactics to misrepresent
information or lie to a suspect to obtain a confession. These exceptions to the Exclusionary Rule
will be examined and expounded on to establish their purpose in allowing evidence into a court.
The plain view doctrine is an exception to the search warrant requirements that allows police
officers to seize evidence, without a search warrant, that they recognize as contraband or used in a
criminal activity that is seen in plain view without having to enter the property or perform a search.
In addition, a corollary to the plain sight doctrine is the plain smell doctrine, that allows if an
officer smells evidence (e.g. marijuana), the officer meets the probable cause requirement to initiate

Coach Carter Theory
Coach Carter is a movie inspired by a true story where Samuel L. Jackson plays the role of Ken
Carter. Ken Carter attended Richmond High for his high school career where he set the high
standards for basketball. After being considered one of the best athlete s to attend the school he
was asked to come back and coach the men s basketballteam. Richmond High is unlike most high
schools due to the fact of the poverty surrounding the school. Carter accepted the coaching position
so he could help the student athletes with their basketball skills, but most importantly their
education. He required every one of his athlete s to sign a contract stating that they are only
allowed to participate in the games if they attend all their practices and classes, maintain a 2.5 GPA,
dress up for all games, and treat him, along with all of the other players, with the utmost respect.
Carter used a variety of different techniques to lead and motivate his undefeated team to the state
championships. As this important game was approaching, Carter noticed most of his athletes were
violating their contracts by not attended classes and not maintaining the grades they were required
to. He then took... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Gold Rush In California
The gold rush helped California industrialize. It is well known that industrialization in America
started in the east. However, the gold rush was the reason why California industrialized much
faster than the east. With the technological improvements, that the gold rush demands it helped
California industrialize much faster. James Marshall first discovered gold on January 24 1848
on the south fork of the American river. A not so well know part of California history is that
James Marshall was not the first person to discover gold in California. Francisco Lopez was the
first documented gold rush in California. It is less know because right after Lopez had
discovered gold the war between Mexico and US had begun. Moreover, like everyone knows
Mexico lost and lost California and other territory to the US. After James Marshall had found
gold and after everyone had started to hear the news, few people started rushing to the minefields.
The gold rush fever had not started yet because many people were hesitant. It wasn t until
president, President Polk at that time, confirmed that there really was gold found in California
after the announcement by Polk was heard. Massive amount of people from all over the world
rushed to California. States were not the first to hear about the news. Actually, people in Hawaii
were the first to find out. As trading ships were leaving the San Francisco port on their trips across
the pacific. Was when the Hawaii found out about the news? When the states

The O.J Simpson Trial
The American public has always been fascinated by tragedy. Why? It s in our human nature, as
we tend to gravitate towards looking upon other people s mistakes or failures as if it were as
precious and watchable as someone s victories. Add in an event so tragic being televised, and you
have yourself a hit with everyday U.S citizens. The O.J Simpson Trial was a turning point in not
only the American judicial system, but it completely changed the thoughts that there was no more
racial division in our country. People suddenly viewed our court system as a broken, failed section
of our government due to the outcome of the trial. Orenthal James O.J. Simpson was born on July
9th, 1947 in San Francisco, California. At his local high school he... Show more content on

Both sides gave thorough arguments, Simpson s team stating there was no way he could have
committed the crime with his arthritis and old football injuries ( The Trial ). Some of the
evidence brought to the case was a black, bloodied glove found at the scene, which had
obviously been used by the murderer. The match to the glove was indeed found outside of
Simpson s residence at the time, but there was controversy of whether or not it had indeed been
used by Simpson or the LAPD had planted it there to frame him just because he was a black
man. The glove was on of the key points in the trial, one of the prosecutors asked Simpson to try
on the glove in front of the jury, but Simpson had a hard time, struggling to put the glove on (
The Trial ). Johnnie Cochran coming up with the famous line, If it doesn t fit, you must acquit.
Later, although it turned out there may have been reasons why indeed the glove didn t fit,
because it may have shrunk from the blood it had been soaked in. Over 99 days of the trial, the
prosecution alone put 72 witnesses on the stand, including Brown s family all stating Simpson had
a motive to kill her. Another source of evidence brought forward was a match of a blood sample

data against cyber attacks.
Figure 1: Map Display of international cyber attacks. Introduction
In recent years, Cybercrime has increased radically and it is becoming more vital for people to
grant protection on their computers and data just as they do with anything else they deem needs to
be secured. The improved rate for the need of security also applies to conceptual institutes of small

Fight Club American Dream Essay
The capability of all Americans to achieve the American dream is what many believe to have made
this country great. Perhaps this is why more immigrants flock to the United States than any other
nation, because they view America as the land of opportunity , because here anyone can achieve the
American dream. Generally, the American dream is the belief that anyone, even one at a low
income level, can achieve success and make themselves content if they work hard enough and are
determined. Unfortunately, when looking at certain aspects of society, it s apparent that nothing
can be further from the truth. For example, a person can pursue and live the American dream and
still be unhappy. Also, the lifestyle that one may live to pursue the American dream can be
dehumanizing. Both of these examples are flaws in the American dream that can be seen in the film
Fight Club. Furthermore, rising levels of income inequality and the crushing debtpeople face also
shows flaws in the idea of the American dream. When analyzing the evidence, it s clear that in the
modern United States, the American dream is non existent.
An example of how the American dream is extinct is how one can live in the state of the typical
American Dream and still live an unhappy life. An example of this would be in the movie Fight
Club. In this movie the narrator is unhappy despite living the American Dream. He has a successful
corporate job as an automobile recall specialist and owns a home. Despite his success the

Gregory And Aquinas Humility
During the middle ages, early A.D. 590 Rome, undergone a substantial amount of struggle.
According to Shelley (2008) as a result of many wars, floods, and the spread of the plague
leading to large quantity of death, Rome became a wasteland; those who were left alive were
distraught and confused (163). It was the Christian faith that restored hope and brought about new
order called Europe, and The church took the lead in rule by law, the pursuit of knowledge, and
the expressions of culture (p.162). It became known as the era of Christendom, as the church
united its forces with the empire and popes ruled. As time passed, however, people began to see

167). Gregory was a true believer of humility as discussed in the Bible and through the teachings
of Jesus Christ. In his book, the Book of Pastoral Rule, Gregory discusses the importance of
humility, and states the following, No one presumes to teach an art till he has first, with intent
meditation, learn it (Gregory the Great, n.d. p. 573). Therefore, exclaiming that the nature of
humility is an essence of pastoral care, highest post of humility, therefore, no one should take on
such role without proper preparation and attainment of such quality (p. 587). It is evident in the
following statement, For one can by no means learn humility in a high place who has not ceased
to be proud while occupying a low one: one knows not how to fly from praise when it abounds,
who has learnt to pant for it when it was wanting: one can by no means overcome avarice, when
advanced to the sustentation of many, who his own means could not suffice for himself alone (p.

Descriptive Essay About Porto Seguro
Have you ever thought about taking a break from the stressful college life? Want to go to a place
where the food is good, the locals are friendly, and the culture is rich? Porto Seguro is that city.
Located on the northeast coast of Brazil, it is not only a beautiful place with stunning beaches, is
a historical city since is where the Portuguese first arrived in the country. Picture yourself in this
scene. You get out of your hotel, cross the street and you are already with your toes in the sand.
You sit in a nice comfortable chair while drinking a fresh and cold coconut water and when you
finish you dive in the clean, hot atlantic ocean. Considering the place, the people, the culture, and
the activities, there is no better place for college students to take a break from the hard working
student life. The first good aspect about Porto Seguro is the place. Since Porto Seguro is a tourist
town, you can find everything from cheap, comfortable hostels to five stars hotels with a nice
view of the beach and the illuminated buildings around, it only depends on how much you want to
spend. The food has the same range in prices and although there are a lot of cheap fast food
restaurants in the narrow streets, it is worth to spend a little more money and try typical Brazilian
foods like the delicious tapioca, the crunchy acaraje, the hot moqueca, and, of course, the famous
feijoada. The weather is another great thing about the city, the temperature hardly is below 80
Fahrenheit, and it

Catiline s Influence On The Rise Of Rome
My fellow senators, if I may begin by bringing attention to the issue at hand. We speak of Catiline
and his crimes, and what should be done to defend Rome from his devious plots of insurrection.
I have heard several of his followers speak before me, and they seem to disregard the accusations
against the very man that leads them. His proposals are not the matter we are currently
discussing. How can you speak of highly of reforms without voicing defense of the man who
proposed them? He, who has been accused of attempted assassination upon our presiding
magistrate? Even worse, he denies his involvement in the face of his failure. Unlike the brave
Gaius Mucius Scaevola, Catiline will not show honor by thrusting his hand into the fire and facing
these accusations as a true Roman should. Instead, he proves himself to be a coward by hiding in
claims that the assassination was never attempted; or, at least, not by him. Furthermore, and equally
unsettling in this time of unrest, we have been told of Catiline rallying troops and having them
camped barely beyond the walls of Etruria. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our own fields, of all Romans near and wide, have been failing. We cannot control the elements.
Would giving the urban poor such land be of any use? In addition, how many of the
impoverished city dwellers know how to farm successfully? Will the land be given out
indiscriminately, or with requirements to ensure that only those who can work the land as
necessary and provide crops will get their share? If you give a man with no knowledge of
farming a field, he would suffer. Perhaps not more than toiling in the inner workings of Rome
itself, but moderately so. A man such as this would only fall further into debt. The land reform
would only refuel the issue of debt for some; and for what? Trading slaves working a field off for
farmers that own that land would not change nature. Crops would not grow more

The potato famine in 1844 is a very large piece of Irish history, and it left more than a million
people dead from starvation and disease (Dorothy Denneen Volo 2018). This caused the Irish
diaspora, and as they moved to England the Irish brought with them the broadside ballad tradition
that thrived in England and Ireland in the mid 19th century , which was songs about sailors and
soldiers, merchants and innkeepers that reflected the newly industrialized British Isles (Cohen,
Norm, Kevin S. Fontenot, Steven Loza, Richard March, Paul F. Wells and Maria Williams 2018).
This left an impact, and now Irish musical styles can be found in many English ballad tunes. This
isn t however, a form of traditional Irish folk music, actually much of the Irish music known in
America in the late 18th and early 19th centuries was music that had roots in oral tradition, but
which had been processed by classically trained composers and arrangers (Norm Cohen 2014). The
Irish weren t fully accepted in England and were discriminated against, and when the English
passed laws forbidding the Irish to speak their own language, they turned to music to help them
remember important events and hold on to their heritage (Dorothy Denneen Volo 2018). Today, that
discrimination is gone, and Ireland gained their independence in 1922. Now, Ireland s finest

The Big Data Is A Significant Subject Of Modern Times With...
Abstract Big data is a significant subject in modern times with the rapid advancement of new
technologies for example, smartphones, pc/laptops, game consoles, that all in some way store
information. Big companies require a place to not only store all the data that is coming in but to
also analyze it for specific purposes and at the fastest speed manageable. There are many different
providers out there who provide this service, this paper will talk about one way the company Google
handles data using their own special made platform.
1.INTRODUCTION
In modern times, the amount of data being stored is terrifically large. Companies must deal with
such abundance of data on a daily basis in both storing and analyzing as fast as they can. One
such company that not only store data is Google, they also analyze data from each user using their
product. The platform used by google for this database management called BigQuery, which runs
in the cloud and provides real time information. In this survey, the inner working of BigQuery is
glossed over to show how this platform manages to do the job it is supposed to accomplish.
2.WHAT IS BIG DATA
Big data is a vast amount of information, both structured and unstructured, unstructured is
information that is not simple to interpret by traditional databases and structured information is the
opposite, which is not too difficult to interpret data made form text or image. Structured or
unstructured, the main business of big data is categorized

The Dangers of Underage Drinking
Teens under the legal minimum age of alcohol should not drink, nor should it be lowered.
Researchers say that giving alcoholic beverages under 21 could create a lethal addiction and would
not have the responsibility to drink. If teens drink a certain amount of alcohol it could be lethal by
alcohol poisoning. Alcoholcan enter the blood stream; binge drinkers can ingest a fatal dose of
alcohol before passing out. ( Binge Drinking Can Be Fatal ). The legal minimum age should not be

First of all, alcohol is a depressant, in other words it controls how slow your body functions. It
could alter with a person s movement, emotions, and vision. Alcohol impedes messages that your
brain is trying to receive. You are more relaxed depending on how much you drink. The more you
drink the more intoxicated you are and the more sick feeling you could get. Depending on the
person, you could either be an angry, friendly or maybe a sad drunk, making you act not yourself.
When you drink, you react to things slower, that s why people should not drive intoxicated.
Consuming too much alcohol in a short period of time can have a result of alcohol poisoning; the
first symptom is usually vomiting. Resulting more symptoms such as extreme fatigue, difficulty
breathing, low blood sugar, unconsciousness, or even death. Furthermore, there are aftereffects,
known as a hangover, in other terms, it s what happens after heavy drinking. An alcohol
withdrawal can usually happen after just four or five drinks to get a hangover, which typically
happens several hours after your last drink. These symptoms include headaches, nausea, fatigue,
muscle pain, or mild anxiety. When teenagers do use alcohol they may not just be affecting their
brain for that night or weekend, but for the next 80 years of their life. ( Henry Wechsler, PhD and
Bernice Wuethrich ).

Difference Between Home And Country House
What is a country house?
This is one type of residential home that is seen in almost every corner of the globe. The style
itself varies widely. Frequently the geographic location, climate of the region and habits of the
people have a direct bearing on the shape and style of a house in the country. The traditional
country houses of this part of the world tend to be very ornate in design. They are generally made
entirely out of wood and are hoisted on a ramp to avoid damages due to flooding. Indigenous
houses are designed with a spacious patio, separate kitchen and bathrooms. The families use the
patio as an open air living room.

They are often built outside the boundaries of the city. The residents heavily invest in buying a
secondary home. But they do so in other places than the city itself. It is quite common for them to
buy or build manor houses in the picturesque locales of Malaysia.
Country dwellings are built using wood and bamboo. Intricate designs are made all over the outer
walls and staircases. Sometimes the roof is thatched and at other times they too are carved from
wood. Rumah Limas, very common in Indonesia, is also seen in various parts of the country.
Building a country house vs buying one
Building a country home costs significantly lesser than a house in the city. Many people like to
combine a farmhouse with a country dwelling. Building a home has its own advantages as you can
customise it according to your needs. If you only wish to visit this part of the country infrequently,
you may choose to buy an existing house or opt for a prefabricated one.
Protective measures against possible natural disasters
If your house is located in a flood prone area, invest in such materials that are not going to
deteriorate under such condition. Install flood alarms in the basement. It would be better to build
your house on a raised ground. If it is a bamboo or wooden structure, you must also take due
precaution against

Symbolism In The Chronicles Of Narnia
In the series, The Chronicles of Narnia, written by a Christian author named C.S. Lewis, wrote the
series as fun entertainment for young folks. C.S. Lewis actually grew up as an atheist, but later
became the most popular convert to Christianity in the twentieth century. He was converted to
Christianity at the age of thirty three and from there on out he devoted his life to promote and write
about Christianity (Byfield). In The Chronicles of Narnia, there are several symbols and references
to the Bible. It is written from a Christian perspective, and made Christianity known to all who
was reading it. The series was also popular because even if you believe in a different religion, it
was open to interpretation and is a series that is just as appealing to other groups of different
faith as well. Narnia itself has symbolism written all over it, but it is up to the reader to find it
and really understand the meaning of everything that happens and how it relates to the Christian
faith (McGrath). C.S. Lewis in a way, re told the life of Jesus Christ, and all the tragic events that
happened to him in a fun, creative way that appeal to the younger audience and maybe gave them
a better picture of what Jesus went through. Lewis wrote books that he wish he would have read

Analysis of Cyrano de Bergerac as a Romantic Work Essay
Analysis of Cyrano de Bergerac as a Romantic Work
Appeal to emotions, individualism, and intellectual achievement were three important elements of
Romanticism. This essay will explore the degree to which Cyrano de Bergerac exemplifies these
elements of Romanticism.
First and foremost is the appeal to emotions. All of the other facets of romanticism can be related to
the emotional appeal in Cyrano de Bergerac. Because strong emotional appeal is perhaps the most
important method used by the author to create identity with the reader, especially in romantic
works, the actions which elicit the emotional responses must, then, show a great deal about the
character. The character s motives and philosophies can be determined... Show more content on

The reader feels strongly for Cyrano to go for it! and is proud and respectful toward him because of
his magnelephant actions.
Cyrano s actions and the resulting emotional response from the reader, then, portray him as an
individual. During this age of romanticism, this was considered to be the chic thing to do. Here we
have the feeling of the fashionability of Cyrano s actions. He is a moral leader which the people
look up to.
As the play progresses, we are shown various incidents in the play which elicit emotional
responses from the reader: the longing Cyrano has for Roxane; his belief that he can never have
her because of his appearance; a comical intervention as Christian gets a nose up on Cyrano;
Cyrano and Christian working together to court Roxane; the author of the letters to Roxane being
unknown to her; the passionate speech which Cyrano delivers to Roxane from behind the shrub;
the existence of the cadets in such grim conditions; the death of Christian; the final resolution of
Cyrano s love for Roxane and his death.
These emotions are what define the play and make it great.
A second characteristic of romanticism is individualism. Throughout the play, it is regarded as
noble in spirit to be individualistic, and Cyrano demonstrates to this effect repeatedly. His white
plumes of freedom are perhaps the most vivid example of this independent spirit. He openly and
willingly defies the standards set forth by traditional culture in

Comparison Essay Twilight vs Vampire Diaries
It s easy to compare Twilight and The Vampire Diaries, partly because they do have similar
premises (teen girls in love with vampires attending high school.
The Vampire Diaries and Twilight really bring different things to the culture of young adult vampire
stories
Sex is one of the differences that are easily compared between both shows. Specifically, who s
having it and who isn t. In the first three novels of Twilight, there is no sex between the protagonist,
Bella, and her vampire boyfriend, Edward, though it s implied that some of the other vampires
are far more open to sex. Bella, who wants sex and tries to seduce Edward into it, is presented as

There s more to life than romantic love, but not a lot more to Bella s life she does make decisions
and pursue the goals important to her.
Elena also has quite a bit of agency. She, too, is the one actively pursuing Stefan, at least in the
beginning. Thankfully, she also pursues goals beyond him: she is struggling to come to terms
with her parents deaths; she wants to help her brother, Jeremy, find a better way to deal with his
grief; she s trying to find her place in the hierarchy of the school social structure when she s
changed and no longer is interested in the place she held before, etc. Her attraction to and, later,
love of Stefan are but part of her personality and that which drives her to act.
Elena does get to see more action than Bella, both sexually but also plot related. She is right there
when vampires attack or a ghost possesses Bonnie or the secret vampire hunters search for
vampires at town, etc. She is fully a part of the human world, comfortable with her friends and
family, and she makes difficult choices in order to keep them safe.
I much prefer Elena to Bella, at least in part because I feel like I know her better and that she is a
more positive role model, but both make decisions and take steps to achieve their goals. I may not
agree with those goals or those actions, but neither Elena nor Bella is a completely blank, inactive
character.

Analysis Of The Book The Twilight Series
A young psychic teen hiding from the CIA embarks on a quest to find a hidden treasure that is
linked to an old murder, but corrupt police, the CIA, greedy relatives, a crazy homeless man, and
the girl he falls smitten with hinder his efforts.
STORY COMMENTS
CODE NAME TRACKER: INDIGO is a highly creative and imaginative novel that is targeted for
the young adult audience. Like the TWILIGHT series one can easily envision the success of such a
series of books and a possible film franchise.
The novel has a strong hook with the idea of the protagonist having psychic skills. The script
combines a supernatural tale with drama and dark comedy. The storyline offers intrigue, action,
forbidden love, betrayal, corruption, and the supernatural. The story also offers solid twists and
turns.
The main storyline centers on the psychic teen searching for missing treasure. It s a smart story
choice, as everyone loves the idea of finding buried treasure. This gives the novel a strong,
actionable goal with merit, and it keeps the story goal focused.
The subplot of the budding teen romance supports the main storyline and is fluidly integrated.
One of the major strength of this novel is the compelling ensemble cast. Each character feels
original and refreshing. They are complex and rich in personality. There s no doubt that these
characters would attract talent if produced into a film.
The novel clearly identifies Ryan Gordon as the mystifying, insecure hero. Ryan is easy to like and

Heteronormativity In Let It Go
The Disney cinematic universe is riddled with an obscene heteronormativity that appears to be
subverted in Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck s, Frozen. The entirety of this film removes itself from
the particular expected narrative of its counterparts. This is particularly clear in the title song of the
film, Let it Go. Sung by queer icon Idina Menzel, this song seems to divulge from the implications
of heteronormativityand showcase clear insinuations of a coming out narrative . Using the works
of Somerville, Freud, Wittig, and Butler this paper will aim to follow the protagonist through the
song and her queer narrative. Unbound by the typical narrative of heterosexual love and freed by

Elsa s parents and society. She sings, don t let them in, don t let them see, be the good girl you

proper woman and monarch. In Subjects of Sex, Gender, Desire, Judith Butler speaks of norms
of intelligibility, namely what is accepted as normal by a society. Elsa has hidden away and
refused to let people see within her, she hides so as not to be presented as freakish or monstrous.

How did the 1st Triumvirate contribute to the fall of the...
The First Triumvirate between Gaius Julius Caesar, Gnaius Pompeius Magnus (Pompey) and
Marcus Licinius Crassus contributed to the fall of the Roman Republic by undermining the Senate,
which was unable to effectively deal with an expanding and diverse empire. This was affected by
the triumvirate appealing directly to popular assemblies, because their alliance conflicted directly
with the conservative Optimates, who refused to change with Rome s expansion. Though
ultimately because each triumvir, being an ambitious general and politician was clambering for the
same place; to be top man of Rome. The very inception of the Triumvirate, and the resulting power

Once in power, Crassus and Pompey extended Caesar s time as governor of Gaul, and then chose
for themselves long term governorships, (Crassus in Syria and Pompey in Spain). However, at
the end of 55BC, Pompey did not leave for Spain, instead remaining as the only Triumvir in
Rome, while Caesar and Crassus took the heads of powerful armies. In 53BC envious of Caesar
and Pompey s military victories, Crassus gathered an army and marched on Parthia. Unable to
cope with the enemy s tactics, the Roman army was slaughtered and Crassus himself killed. This
and the addition of the death of Julia (Caesar s daughter and Pompey s wife the strongest
personal link between the two) in 54BC effectively ended the triumvirate and in doing so
became the turning point in the history of the Free State and the ultimate origin of the Roman
civil war of 49BC . Soon after riots began in Rome between Clodius and Milo, so violent that in
52BC the Senate appointed Pompey as sole consul, who immediately, following the precedent
set by Sulla upon gaining personal power, brought soldiers of his legions into the City, restoring
order. In doing so the Senate had officially given Pompey, all the powers of a dictator. Following
this, the Senate passed laws stating, a consul had to wait 5 years after his office before he could

The Rise of the Creative Class Essay
In the information economy, creative content is a nation s most important natural resource. The
wealth creation in an economy of ideas is dependent on the capacity of a nation to continually
create content or new forms of widely distributed expression, for which they will need to invest in
creative human capitalthroughout the economy and not merely gadgets and hardware. (Venturelli
14). We may assume then that in the 21st century, artists will finally be able to earn a living.
Industrial Age Г Information Age
As in all philosophical shifts much of the 20th century was spent applying the ideas of the
industrial age onto the increasingly visible information age. At the dawning of the 21st century we

Successful societies will draw on as many citizens as possible to participate, demystifying the
notion of artist as a creative genius who works independently in an art laboratory, and then gives his
gift to the world. This will cause growing pains and ego smashing at first, but once the creative class
has digested this idea, they will begin to see themselves working in an interdependent
environmental infosphere that has the same requirements as the natural environment of balance,
diversity, and interaction. Of course every sector of society can contribute to the growth of the
creative sector.
Some Important Terms: The Marketplace of Ideas v. The Mental Environment
In order to understand the Information Economy more clearly we need a new set of terms. Instead
of referring to The Marketplace of Ideas with its foundation in Adam Smith s economic philosophy
we should instead be moving towards the concept of the Mental Environment . The former is a
remnant of the industrial revolution, where streamlining and automation are benefits. Even more
anachronistically, this model is based on laws of supply and demand which don t appropriately
describe the cultural industries.
Cultural products work differently than industrial products such as hammers. Information products

The Work Of Brameld, Horton, And Freire
Names associated with Social Reconstructionism include, among others, Theodore Brameld,
Myles Horton, Morris R. Mitchel, William O. Stanley, Paulo Freire, Ismail Hakki Tonguch, Neil
Postman, and Charles Weingartner. Each of these educational philosophers have greatly shaped
the reconstruction ideologies; however, for the purpose of this paper, it was considered to
analyze the work of Brameld, Horton, and Freire. Theodore Brameld (1904 1987) is considered
to be the founder of the social reconstruction movement. The Brameld s ideas to understand
human condition were nurtured by thinkers such as Freud and Marx, as well as by sociologists
such as W. L. Warner (Thomas, 1999). Brameld s ideologies were conceived through a
curriculum experiment conducted in a rural high school in Minnesota during 1944 to 1945 (Stone,
1995). In this experiment, called the Floodwood Project, Brameld cooperatively participated with
this high school s students and teachers to answer this question: What kind of a society do we, as
young citizens, want to build for tomorrow . The students, who participated in this study, drew
characteristics of an ideal society by working from their expectations and experiences about what a
good society should provide. Brameld developed during the next two decades the outcomes in sight
of: 1) determine values through an inductive approach, 2) social policy could be understood under
the consensus of the learning group, 3) indoctrinaction could be addressed by

The automobile industry has experienced different progressions. Marukawa (2013) makes reference
to the World Motor Vehicle Statistics. According to the World Motor Vehicle Statistics, gathered by
the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, some countries that had a vast collection of
automobile corporations in 2010 were the United Kingdom, which had 21 automobile
manufacturers, and Malaysia, which had 26 automobile manufacturers. However, China had to a
greater extent the highest number of automobile manufacturers in the world, according to the World
Motor Vehicle Statistics. According to Marukawa (2013), an important characteristic of the Chinese
automobile industry is the magnitude of small scale producers. Marukawa (2013) discovered that
car and engine production are mostly vertically fragmented in China. Research by Marukawa
(2013) showed that firms that want to enter the industry could outsource production inputs such as
engines and design, which minimizes the entry restrictions for new firms in the industry. The
minimization of entry restrictions, and the rising demand for automobiles in China favored entry
into the automobile industry, according to Marukawa (2013).
Research by Marukawa (2013) discovered that in the 1990s, corporations that belonged to the
government had the ease of protecting domestic markets through governing the operations of the
domestic producers. However, households have now become the primary consumers of cars, and as

Christianity And The Nature Of God
If one is to write about Christianity and the nature of God, one must have a foundation to rely
upon. Both theology and our epistemological queries concerning God must be crafted from a
source. Michael Bird in his Evangelical Theology notes that the prolegomena or things we say
before saying anything about Godmust be predicated upon a critical source. This source is God s
Word and is revealed in multiple ways. If one is to conduct a Credo or apologetic stance of his
Christian faith, this person ought to explain how God reveals Godself, especially through the
Biblical text, but also potentially through creation. God revealing Godself through the God s Word
is also known as Special Revelation; whereas, God revealing God s personality through creation is
known as General Revelation or Natural Theology. First and foremost, there is a significant debate
concerning the possibility of Natural Theology. Emil Bruner and Karl Barth famously debated this
in the 1930 s as Barth argued that only the Holy Spirit can illuminate the person of God so that God
is revealed to humanity. Without the illumination of the Holy Spirit, humanity is too deep in their
sin to see God s handiwork throughout creation. John Calvin, on the other hand, believes that the
knowledge of God has been naturally implanted in the minds of humanity. To prevent humanity
from pretending that they were never aware of God s existence, God implants knowledge of God s
divine majesty. Additionally, Calvin believes that

Knee Jerk Reflex
When you hit the patella tendon a kick reflex is produced which is also known as the knee jerk
(knee reflex). The main reason why hitting the patella tendon results in muscle contraction is so
that the muscle is protected from unwanted harm such as being yanked vigorously or hyper
extended. The muscle group that contracts in this reflex is the quadriceps muscles, so when a muscle
spindle is stretched an impulse is instantly sent to the human s spinal cord and a rapid response to
contract the specific muscle is admitted. Due to the impulse not having to travel all the way to the
brain only up the spinal cord and back this results in a very rapid reflex, only taking about 1 2
milliseconds to occur (Marieb ; Hoehn;, 2010). When the patella is... Show more content on

nerve pathway that is highly involved in a reflex action, also including a sensory nerve and

conduction only travels in one direction. The receptors are the starting point of the dendrites of

Lab Report On Projectile
What is a projectile? In what is a projectile (Physics Classroom, 2015), a projectile is a moving
object and the only force acting upon it is gravity. The actual path of a projectile could vary
according to the position and direction of the launch of the projectile. The image types of
projectiles (2015) shows three types of projectiles. P1 is the projectile which has the movement
only in vertical direction while P2 has more vertical and a little horizontal motion thus moving
in two dimensions. P3 has both motions almost equal. Projectile has the characteristic of being
under influence the force of gravity only. If the path of a moving object is affected significantly
by some air resistance, the object is not a projectile any more. It is also not a projectile while at
the source or when it hits something during its flight. A ball shown in the diagram below is not
a projectile till the ball leaves the hands of the person dropping it or throwing it. The air
resistance can be ignored at this point because the effect is not significant. It again seizes to be a
projectile when it is in contact with the ground because the force of the reaction from the ground
and the force of friction has come into action. P1 P2 P3Diagram 1 Assumptions: Several examples
of projectiles will be under discussion during the following study, so it is

Effective reward management is critical to organisational performance
Being rewarded and recognised for their work or contribution is what keeps an employee motivated
to work towards achieving the organisational as well as personal goals. When the employees is
motivated by rewards, they will have job satisfaction consequently increasing the productivity of the
organisation. It necessitates the need of managers to pay more attention in understanding their

Forrest (as cited in Donovan, 2008) says that before putting any motivation programme together, an
employer should profile the target audience in terms of age, gender interests and should also ensure
that the rewards it offers will appeal to any individual.
As cited in Zhou, Zhang Montoro Sa МЃnchez (2011) reward management is a key function in
HRM systems in modern enterprises, playing an important role in attracting, retaining and
motivating employees (Milkovich and Newman, 2004). Furthermore, Schuler and Jackson (as cited
in Esteves Caetano, 2010) state that the focal point of success of companies today is centered on
the effective use of human resources.
In today s knowledge based economy, innovation has become the principal source of competitive
advantages in global business; the success of firms now depends more on their intelligence
capability such as employee creativity than traditional material assets (Amabile et al., as cited in

Chinua Achebe once said, the world is like a mask dancing...if you want to see it well, you do

Contradicting the racism employed by whites in the 1890s in order to justify slavery in earlier

When forming a vision, the leadership must be realistic about their market, competition, economic

management and a lack of commitment to the organization s vision and values (Fiegener, Brown,
Prince File,1996). The three organizations listed all took steps towards strategic planning and
execution in the formation of their vision, mission, and values statements. Creating The Future
was by far the poorest example of strategic planning and execution. Their mission, vision and

Essay On Dorm
Introduction
Of the eighteen freshman dorms I have chosen Canaday as my primary place of study. Canaday
is centrally located in Harvard`s Oak Yard in which it shares with Thayer. It is the newest dorm
built by Harvard and its students enjoy its central location next to Annenberg and the Science
Center. Canaday is divided into seven vertical entryways which have a variety of different suites
available. Canaday is actually three separate buildings which create a courtyard in the center. My
particular room of study was located on the fourth floor of C hall. The room dimension is eight
feet by ten feet. The reason for excavating this dorm room was to find out more about the life of a
college student at Harvard by non intrusively excavating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Still to the right of the rug was a pink textured round trash can which was about one and one half
feet tall by one feet wide. The contents of the trash can included an empty kettle corn bag of
popcorn, several pieces of gum, a diabetes sensor, soft textured face pads, a few scrap pieces of
paper and a mango bar wrapper. Immediately to the right of the trash can was the laundry bag.
Inside of the laundry bag there was several dirty shirts, unisuits, and pants. On the right of the
laundry bag there was a large brown wooden desk. Around the perimeter of the desk there were
white string origami lights which were shut off. At the base there was an eight hole power strip
which had the lights, a personal laptop computer plugged into it, two notebooks, a pencil case
(with pencils), six novel sized books, a half eaten chocolate bar and a lamp.
Live in Dorm Student
The dorm student whose room I had the pleasure of excavating is eighteen years of age, female
gendered, caucasian descent, and seemingly in the middle class. I have arrived at the conclusion of
middle class based on the decorations present in the room. These include nice light strings, tapestry,
desk lamp light, mini tree by the window, and bedspread. The other identifications of race, gender,
and age I came to the conclusion of through a conversation with the subject.
Conclusion
In conclusion I have gained several insights from this excavation not only on my live in dorm

Dialectical Journal For Orpheus
A passage in unit 3, pages 121 160,was about a man named, Orpheus, who was the son of the Muses
and a Thracian prince. His sad story begins happily when he waits for his bride to be, to marry him.
But tragically his bride dies after being stung by a viper and he quickly gets on a boat, to go to the
underground world to get his bride back. As it says, O Gods who rule the dark and silent world, To
you all born of a woman needs must come. All lovely things at last go down to you. You are the
debtor who is always paid. A little while we tarry up on earth. Then we are yours forever and
forever. But I seek one who came to you too soon. The bud was plucked before the flower
bloomed. I tried to bear my loss. I could not bear it. Lovewas too strong a god.... Show more content

This passage fits the novel because it helps add to the plot line. For instance, Orpheus was
devoted after his wife s passing. Therefore, he was determined to go to the Underground world
or also called the world of death, and try to convince the ruler of Hades (ruler of the dead) to
bring his wife, Eurydice, back to life. With Orpheus is a mortal amongst the great gods who
inherit musical talent, he sang his heart out to the Gods of the dead and stole the hearts of their
evil souls. They eventually became hypnotized by his angel like voice and granted his wishes.
Unfortunately, his wife banished through his eyes after the Gods strictly told him not to look
back at his wife until they were above the ground of the Death world. The novels read, Then he
turned to her her. It was too soon... She had slipped back into the darkness. All he heard was one
faint word, farewell, (142). After this happened, Orpheus tried to go back to the second world,
but they refused to let him entrance again because he was a mortal who ve already passed through
their world. The importance of this passage in the novel s message is that when you love someone
so much, never let them go because one day they could vanish from your life

Meritocracy Of My Democracy Essay
A democratic meritocracy
My ideal country would be a democratic meritocracy. In a meritocracy, one s rewards are
dependent on how much one works. This means that there is a lot of incentive to work hard in this
country. Now to the interesting part, the democracy. I believe in a pure democracy, rather than a
representative democracy. Ancient Greece and Switzerland, are both pure democracy s. Direct
democracy is like, but distinct from, representative democracy, in which people vote for
representatives who then enact policy initiatives.
Depending on the system in use, direct democracy might entail passing executive decisions, the use
of sortation, making laws, directly electing or dismissing officials, and conducting trials. Two
leading forms of direct democracy are participatory democracy and deliberative democracy.
Semi direct democracies in which representatives administer day to day governance, but the citizens
remain the sovereign, allow for three forms of popular action: referendum (plebiscite), initiative,
and recall. The first two forms referendums and initiatives are examples of direct legislation.
Compulsory referendum subjects the legislation drafted by political elites to a binding popular
vote. This is the most common form of direct legislation. Popular referendum empowers citizens to
make a petition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This dispenses the need for man built defenses and a full time defense force. However, I feel it
would be unwise for a country to have no defense force. I suggest that there would be 15 months
national service. This would be split up into 5 terms which could be done at any time between
the age of 18 and 30. There would be very low taxes which would attract many countries and
banks. This would in turn create lots of jobs for the highly specialized workers. This country will
not have a nuclear program, as I feel this will give it an offensive

James Loggins
Humanities 2210
Unit 2 Research Essay
24 October 2016 The Renaissance painter, sculptor, and poet Michelangelo is famous not only for
his painting of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel or his sculpture of the Biblical King David, but he
also created another Biblical figure, the Hebrew Prophet Moses. The sculpture was commissioned
by Pope Julius II, in an attempt to mirror his larger than life reputation and personality.
Michelangelo Moses along with other pieces of sculpture and artwork were to be enshrined in the
Pope s planned resting place, with the Moses statue placed opposite of another figure of Saint
Paul. However, it would never come to be, as the Moses sculpture would not be completed until
more than 30 years after Pope Julius death in 1513. Pope Julius II had commissioned Michelangelo
to paint the Sistine Chapel as well as build his entire tomb, but the chapel frescos occupied all of
the painter s time (Michelangelo Gallery.com). However, once the Sistine Chapel frescos were
finally completed Michelangelo immediately resumed his work on Moses, completing it in 1545.
This sculpture marks a significant innovation, combining sculpturing and architecture for the first
time in his career. Completed out of nothing but marble, the Moses became one of Michelangelo s
crowning achievements along with the Sistine Chapel frescos and his sculpture of David. It was
placed on the second tier of Pope Julius II s tomb which is housed in the church of San

All for One and One for All in the Declaration of...
The Declaration of Independence was authenticated on July 4, 1776, and, within a short span of
time, fifty six men signed the document. The Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions was
written in 1848, over seventy years later. It was almost a mirror image of its predecessor, as Stanton
et al strategically used the outline of the previous document to establish credibility and make her
argument stronger by referencing the Declaration of Independence which was so widely known
and accepted. Both of these documents were written very skillfully, containing a very strong use of
language and almost identical structures, and greatly impacted the people they pertained to, but the
Declaration of Independence had stronger implications. The... Show more content on

This surge of emotion then follows through into the conclusion. It clearly and directly states the
ultimatum it intends to fulfill. The conclusion is in a way restating the goals of the document and
emphasizes the importance of what it aims to do. This conclusion is directed not just at the British,
but also the rest of the world, informing it of the intentions of the colonies. These intentions are
presented in a list, ranging from absolv[ing] from all Allegiance to the British Crown to hav[ing]
full Power (U.S. 1776). The list progresses in a specific manner, starting with what the colonies
must do first and moving on to the following goals that can only be reached if the preceding one is
accomplished. The final touch that really strengthens the Declaration of Independence is the
signatures that follow the conclusion of the document, giving the argument its credibility. The
Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions is only slightly different from the Declaration of
Independence, and the structural pattern that it follows makes it almost as powerful as its parent .
The minor changes that occur in this document emphasize some of the points that were missed by
the Declaration of Independence . Its introduction is almost the same, save for the addition of a
few significant words, and women between all men and are created equal , and the replacement of
some words (Stanton et al

The Classical Era comes after the Baroque Era in 1750. Music has a phrase structure with a

Angelo And Cross Summary
The article from Angelo and Cross, while dated, is a valuable lesson and read for educators (and
myself). Many of the concepts covered in this article highlight the ways that assessment can help
college teachers gain useful feedback and analyze student learning. The article encourages educators
to review the central aim of college which is to help students become more effective and efficient
learners. Additionally, by focusing on the characteristics of classroom assessment (learner centered,
teacher directed, mutually beneficial, formative, context specific, ongoing, and firmly rooted in
good practice) educators can see what students are learning. Learning is a collaborative effort, both
the educator and student need to work together.

show. In this episode, a judge hears both sides on a liver transplant dispute between the hospital

allegedly wrongfully removed from the top of the transplant list. The attorney for the hospital
was then fired by her firm during the trial. She proceeded to go to the big firm attorneys that

The rule on declining representation is represented by the big firm attorneys taking the fired
attorney s case on the wrongful discharge claim against her former law firm. Correct application
of the rule would have instead required that they decline to represent her because they took her
as a client knowing that the representation will result in violation of professional conduct (such
as the rules on conflicts and confidentiality). The rules on conflicts of interest and imputation of
those conflicts are represented by the big firm attorneys who took on the fired attorney s case
(who was their opposition just a few hours ago on a case that was still pending). Confidential
information from the hospital s side was given to the big firm attorneys, that they used in the liver
case. The attorneys for the hospital ask for the big firm to be discqualified for what happened. The
judge asked afterwards if the fired attorney could keep those two cases separate, she answered yes,

Should Euthanasia Be Illegal In The Giver
Euthanasia is the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in
a coma. This practice is illegal in most countries, but why? Euthanasia is also known as assisted
suicide , and has caused a lot of controversy throughout the world. The question is, should it be
legal? I believe that it should. Euthanasiais used mainly for pets being put down when they are sick
or elderly, but this is not available to humans. Euthanasia should be available to humans, but only
under certain guidelines and all cases should be investigated into before the person is euthanised.

Sometimes they would do it a second time because when they were standing still for hours they

Coping With Bipolar Disorder Through Self-Medicating With
Coping with Bipolar Disorder through self medicating with Alcohol
Brianna Moore
East Stroudsburg University
A common way to cope with bipolar disorder is through the use of alcohol. While some people
with bipolar disorder cope with medication prescribed to them by a doctor, many other patients will
depend on self medication through the use of alcohol.
Bipolar Disorder is a disorder when a person who suffers from it can have moments of depressive
symptoms but also have episodes of mania. Bipolar disorder is also known as manic depression.
Mania in a person can be described as having rapid thoughts, aggression, increased physical activity,
and many more symptoms. The depressive symptoms in a person with bipolar can be ... Show more

Serotonin is the reason for the mania in bipolar disorder whereas the other two chemicals is
what creates depression and bipolar disorder. There are different ways to cope with bipolar
disorder and the feelings that one feels when going through episodes. There are many ways to
cope with bipolar disorder, some more effective than others. Ways that people with bipolar
disorder cope are through psychotherapy, medications, substance abuse, electric shock therapy
and more methods that are not mentioned above. Psychotherapy is a way of coping through
talking with a counselor; this is able to help because the patient is able to talk about what is
bothering them and the way that one is feeling at the time. However, bipolar disorder needs more
then psychotherapy since it is a chemical imbalance. Bipolar disorder can be helped with
medications that can help fix the imbalance. Pharmacotherapy is still the essential treatment for
the acute mania in bipolar disorder. The only drugs that were approved by the FDA were lithium
and chlorpromazine. (quote acute mania) As years went by the more new discoveries were made
for different mood stabilizers to treat bipolar disorder. When being prescribed to any medication for
mental illness, the therapist should make sure that they are giving the correct dosages for the
patient and making sure the side effects if any, are not irrational or making the symptoms worse
rather than better. One of the typical and most used

Farmers Who Often Carry Guns And Run Prisons
The XPCC: Farmers Who Sometimes Carry Guns and Run Prisons
Faced with an alarming rise in Xinjiang violence over the last two years, Beijing is searching for a
high visibility, public solution. Most recently, officials attention has settled on the Xinjiang
Production and Construction Corps (XPCC), known informally in Chinese as bingtuan ( Corps ).
While it has been a martial organization in name and structure since its inception, the international
media is getting ahead of itself in playing up the military role played by Xinjiang s bingtuan.
Controlling 700,000 hectares, almost 30% of Xinjiang s arable land, along with 2.6 million
residents in its cities, the is first and foremost a bureaucratic corporation.
The history of the XPCC goes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ebb and flow of political sentiment has left its mark on the structure and raison d ГЄtre of the
XPCC. By the early 1970s, the organization had visibly suffered from its experience of the Cultural
Revolution, the only time the organization has ever been directly overseen by the army. In 1979,
however, the Soviets invaded Afghanistan and the latent threat posed by the USSR became more
active. Chinese leadership, newly recovered from the death of Mao, felt surrounded. Already in a
heated hearts and minds propaganda competition with the Soviets for Xinjiang s Muslim minority
groups, the importance of Xinjiang to the geopolitics of an isolated PRC suddenly crystalized.
In a decisive reversal that highlights officials sense of insecurity, the XPCC was restored in 1981
during a time when other border provinces bingtuan were being permanently abolished (such as
Hainan s, abolished just two years before).
Since the fall of the Soviet Union, the XPCC has continued to play a quiet but ubiquitous role in
Xinjiang s development. However, the circumstances surrounding the organization s reinstatement
does not mean that the post 1981 bingtuan was any more substantively militarily oriented than
before. Instead, its primary practical function increasingly became the generation of profits.
One of lesser known functions of the bingtuan is the large penal system it

However, modifications or exceptions to the Rule allow, once considered illegally seized evidence, to be now allow in a court. These exceptions have been met with controversy or repudiation, but are crucial to the criminal justice system to protect individual s constitutional rights and prosecute the guilty. These exceptions include the plain view doctrine, independent source doctrine, inevitable discovery doctrine, and the good faith doctrine. Furthermore, two concepts that are exceptions to the constitutional requirements are the dying declaration and exigent circumstance. Finally, in order to elicit a voluntary confession, officers can legally employ deception tactics to misrepresent information or lie to a suspect to obtain a confession. These exceptions to the Exclusionary Rule will be examined and expounded on to establish their purpose in allowing evidence into a court. The plain view doctrine is an exception to the search warrant requirements that allows police officers to seize evidence, without a search warrant, that they recognize as contraband or used in a criminal activity that is seen in plain view without having to enter the property or perform a search. In addition, a corollary to the plain sight doctrine is the plain smell doctrine, that allows if an officer smells evidence (e.g. marijuana), the officer meets the probable cause requirement to initiate a ... • 3. Coach Carter Theory Coach Carter is a movie inspired by a true story where Samuel L. Jackson plays the role of Ken Carter. Ken Carter attended Richmond High for his high school career where he set the high standards for basketball. After being considered one of the best athlete s to attend the school he was asked to come back and coach the men s basketballteam. Richmond High is unlike most high schools due to the fact of the poverty surrounding the school. Carter accepted the coaching position so he could help the student athletes with their basketball skills, but most importantly their education. He required every one of his athlete s to sign a contract stating that they are only allowed to participate in the games if they attend all their practices and classes, maintain a 2.5 GPA, dress up for all games, and treat him, along with all of the other players, with the utmost respect. Carter used a variety of different techniques to lead and motivate his undefeated team to the state championships. As this important game was approaching, Carter noticed most of his athletes were violating their contracts by not attended classes and not maintaining the grades they were required to. • 5. The Gold Rush In California The gold rush helped California industrialize. It is well known that industrialization in America started in the east. However, the gold rush was the reason why California industrialized much faster than the east. With the technological improvements, that the gold rush demands it helped California industrialize much faster. James Marshall first discovered gold on January 24 1848 on the south fork of the American river. A not so well know part of California history is that James Marshall was not the first person to discover gold in California. Francisco Lopez was the first documented gold rush in California. It is less know because right after Lopez had discovered gold the war between Mexico and US had begun. Moreover, like everyone knows Mexico lost and lost California and other territory to the US. After James Marshall had found gold and after everyone had started to hear the news, few people started rushing to the minefields. The gold rush fever had not started yet because many people were hesitant. It wasn t until president, President Polk at that time, confirmed that there really was gold found in California after the announcement by Polk was heard. Massive amount of people from all over the world rushed to California. States were not the first to hear about the news. Actually, people in Hawaii were the first to find out. As trading ships were leaving the San Francisco port on their trips across the pacific. Was when the Hawaii found out about the news? When the states ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The O.J Simpson Trial The American public has always been fascinated by tragedy. Why? It s in our human nature, as we tend to gravitate towards looking upon other people s mistakes or failures as if it were as precious and watchable as someone s victories. Add in an event so tragic being televised, and you have yourself a hit with everyday U.S citizens. The O.J Simpson Trial was a turning point in not only the American judicial system, but it completely changed the thoughts that there was no more racial division in our country. People suddenly viewed our court system as a broken, failed section of our government due to the outcome of the trial. Orenthal James O.J. Both sides gave thorough arguments, Simpson s team stating there was no way he could have committed the crime with his arthritis and old football injuries ( The Trial ). Some of the evidence brought to the case was a black, bloodied glove found at the scene, which had obviously been used by the murderer. The match to the glove was indeed found outside of Simpson s residence at the time, but there was controversy of whether or not it had indeed been used by Simpson or the LAPD had planted it there to frame him just because he was a black man. The glove was on of the key points in the trial, one of the prosecutors asked Simpson to try on the glove in front of the jury, but Simpson had a hard time, struggling to put the glove on ( The Trial ). Johnnie Cochran coming up with the famous line, If it doesn t fit, you must acquit. Later, although it turned out there may have been reasons why indeed the glove didn t fit, because it may have shrunk from the blood it had been soaked in. Over 99 days of the trial, the prosecution alone put 72 witnesses on the stand, including Brown s family all stating Simpson had a motive to kill her. Another source of evidence brought forward was a match of a blood sample found at the crime scene had belonged to Simpson. • 9. Fight Club American Dream Essay The capability of all Americans to achieve the American dream is what many believe to have made this country great. Perhaps this is why more immigrants flock to the United States than any other nation, because they view America as the land of opportunity , because here anyone can achieve the American dream. Generally, the American dream is the belief that anyone, even one at a low income level, can achieve success and make themselves content if they work hard enough and are determined. Unfortunately, when looking at certain aspects of society, it s apparent that nothing can be further from the truth. For example, a person can pursue and live the American dream and still be unhappy. Also, the lifestyle that one may live to pursue the American dream can be dehumanizing. Both of these examples are flaws in the American dream that can be seen in the film Fight Club. Furthermore, rising levels of income inequality and the crushing debtpeople face also shows flaws in the idea of the American dream. When analyzing the evidence, it s clear that in the modern United States, the American dream is non existent. An example of how the American dream is extinct is how one can live in the state of the typical American Dream and still live an unhappy life. An example of this would be in the movie Fight Club. In this movie the narrator is unhappy despite living the American Dream. He has a successful corporate job as an automobile recall specialist and owns a home. Despite his success the ... According to Shelley (2008) as a result of many wars, floods, and the spread of the plague leading to large quantity of death, Rome became a wasteland; those who were left alive were distraught and confused (163). It was the Christian faith that restored hope and brought about new order called Europe, and The church took the lead in rule by law, the pursuit of knowledge, and the expressions of culture (p.162). It became known as the era of Christendom, as the church united its forces with the empire and popes ruled. Gregory was a true believer of humility as discussed in the Bible and through the teachings of Jesus Christ. In his book, the Book of Pastoral Rule, Gregory discusses the importance of humility, and states the following, No one presumes to teach an art till he has first, with intent meditation, learn it (Gregory the Great, n.d. p. 573). Therefore, exclaiming that the nature of humility is an essence of pastoral care, highest post of humility, therefore, no one should take on such role without proper preparation and attainment of such quality (p. 587). It is evident in the following statement, For one can by no means learn humility in a high place who has not ceased to be proud while occupying a low one: one knows not how to fly from praise when it abounds, who has learnt to pant for it when it was wanting: one can by no means overcome avarice, when advanced to the sustentation of many, who his own means could not suffice for himself alone (p. ... • 11. Descriptive Essay About Porto Seguro Have you ever thought about taking a break from the stressful college life? Want to go to a place where the food is good, the locals are friendly, and the culture is rich? Porto Seguro is that city. Located on the northeast coast of Brazil, it is not only a beautiful place with stunning beaches, is a historical city since is where the Portuguese first arrived in the country. Picture yourself in this scene. You get out of your hotel, cross the street and you are already with your toes in the sand. You sit in a nice comfortable chair while drinking a fresh and cold coconut water and when you finish you dive in the clean, hot atlantic ocean. Considering the place, the people, the culture, and the activities, there is no better place for college students to take a break from the hard working student life. The first good aspect about Porto Seguro is the place. Since Porto Seguro is a tourist town, you can find everything from cheap, comfortable hostels to five stars hotels with a nice view of the beach and the illuminated buildings around, it only depends on how much you want to spend. The food has the same range in prices and although there are a lot of cheap fast food restaurants in the narrow streets, it is worth to spend a little more money and try typical Brazilian foods like the delicious tapioca, the crunchy acaraje, the hot moqueca, and, of course, the famous feijoada. • 12. Catiline s Influence On The Rise Of Rome My fellow senators, if I may begin by bringing attention to the issue at hand. We speak of Catiline and his crimes, and what should be done to defend Rome from his devious plots of insurrection. I have heard several of his followers speak before me, and they seem to disregard the accusations against the very man that leads them. His proposals are not the matter we are currently discussing. How can you speak of highly of reforms without voicing defense of the man who proposed them? He, who has been accused of attempted assassination upon our presiding magistrate? Even worse, he denies his involvement in the face of his failure. Unlike the brave Gaius Mucius Scaevola, Catiline will not show honor by thrusting his hand into the fire and facing these accusations as a true Roman should. Instead, he proves himself to be a coward by hiding in claims that the assassination was never attempted; or, at least, not by him. Furthermore, and equally unsettling in this time of unrest, we have been told of Catiline rallying troops and having them camped barely beyond the walls of Etruria. In... If you give a man with no knowledge of farming a field, he would suffer. Perhaps not more than toiling in the inner workings of Rome itself, but moderately so. Each song is filled with deep emotions, the history of the Irish, and fascinating dances. They consider themselves the new generation of Irish music and dance. They do so by taking old traditions and spicing it up, creating incredible shows. A few things that will catch your eye is how I found this performance, what others thought of the performance, the setting, the significance, the instruments and voices, the rhythm, my research on Irish music, and finally my reaction. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The potato famine in 1844 is a very large piece of Irish history, and it left more than a million people dead from starvation and disease (Dorothy Denneen Volo 2018). This caused the Irish diaspora, and as they moved to England the Irish brought with them the broadside ballad tradition that thrived in England and Ireland in the mid 19th century , which was songs about sailors and soldiers, merchants and innkeepers that reflected the newly industrialized British Isles (Cohen, Norm, Kevin S. Fontenot, Steven Loza, Richard March, Paul F. Wells and Maria Williams 2018). This left an impact, and now Irish musical styles can be found in many English ballad tunes. This isn t however, a form of traditional Irish folk music, actually much of the Irish music known in America in the late 18th and early 19th centuries was music that had roots in oral tradition, but which had been processed by classically trained composers and arrangers (Norm Cohen 2014). The Irish weren t fully accepted in England and were discriminated against, and when the English passed laws forbidding the Irish to speak their own language, they turned to music to help them remember important events and hold on to their heritage (Dorothy Denneen Volo 2018). Today, that discrimination is gone, and Ireland gained their independence in 1922. Now, Ireland s finest musicians play ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abstract Big data is a significant subject in modern times with the rapid advancement of new technologies for example, smartphones, pc/laptops, game consoles, that all in some way store information. Alcohol impedes messages that your brain is trying to receive. You are more relaxed depending on how much you drink. The more you drink the more intoxicated you are and the more sick feeling you could get. Depending on the person, you could either be an angry, friendly or maybe a sad drunk, making you act not yourself. When you drink, you react to things slower, that s why people should not drive intoxicated. Consuming too much alcohol in a short period of time can have a result of alcohol poisoning; the first symptom is usually vomiting. Frequently the geographic location, climate of the region and habits of the people have a direct bearing on the shape and style of a house in the country. The traditional country houses of this part of the world tend to be very ornate in design. They are generally made entirely out of wood and are hoisted on a ramp to avoid damages due to flooding. Lewis actually grew up as an atheist, but later became the most popular convert to Christianity in the twentieth century. He was converted to Christianity at the age of thirty three and from there on out he devoted his life to promote and write about Christianity (Byfield). In The Chronicles of Narnia, there are several symbols and references to the Bible. It is written from a Christian perspective, and made Christianity known to all who was reading it. The series was also popular because even if you believe in a different religion, it was open to interpretation and is a series that is just as appealing to other groups of different faith as well. Analysis of Cyrano de Bergerac as a Romantic Work Essay Analysis of Cyrano de Bergerac as a Romantic Work Appeal to emotions, individualism, and intellectual achievement were three important elements of Romanticism. This essay will explore the degree to which Cyrano de Bergerac exemplifies these elements of Romanticism. First and foremost is the appeal to emotions. All of the other facets of romanticism can be related to the emotional appeal in Cyrano de Bergerac. Because strong emotional appeal is perhaps the most important method used by the author to create identity with the reader, especially in romantic works, the actions which elicit the emotional responses must, then, show a great deal about the character. Cyrano s actions and the resulting emotional response from the reader, then, portray him as an individual. During this age of romanticism, this was considered to be the chic thing to do. Here we have the feeling of the fashionability of Cyrano s actions. He is a moral leader which the people look up to. As the play progresses, we are shown various incidents in the play which elicit emotional responses from the reader: the longing Cyrano has for Roxane; his belief that he can never have her because of his appearance; a comical intervention as Christian gets a nose up on Cyrano; Cyrano and Christian working together to court Roxane; the author of the letters to Roxane being unknown to her; the passionate speech which Cyrano delivers to Roxane from behind the shrub; the existence of the cadets in such grim conditions; the death of Christian; the final resolution of Cyrano s love for Roxane and his death. These emotions are what define the play and make it great. A second characteristic of romanticism is individualism. Throughout the play, it is regarded as noble in spirit to be individualistic, and Cyrano demonstrates to this effect repeatedly. His white plumes of freedom are perhaps the most vivid example of this independent spirit. He openly and willingly defies the standards set forth by traditional culture in ... The Vampire Diaries and Twilight really bring different things to the culture of young adult vampire stories Sex is one of the differences that are easily compared between both shows. In the first three novels of Twilight, there is no sex between the protagonist, Bella, and her vampire boyfriend, Edward, though it s implied that some of the other vampires are far more open to sex. She is right there when vampires attack or a ghost possesses Bonnie or the secret vampire hunters search for vampires at town, etc. She is fully a part of the human world, comfortable with her friends and family, and she makes difficult choices in order to keep them safe. I much prefer Elena to Bella, at least in part because I feel like I know her better and that she is a more positive role model, but both make decisions and take steps to achieve their goals. STORY COMMENTS CODE NAME TRACKER: INDIGO is a highly creative and imaginative novel that is targeted for the young adult audience. Like the TWILIGHT series one can easily envision the success of such a series of books and a possible film franchise. The novel has a strong hook with the idea of the protagonist having psychic skills. The script combines a supernatural tale with drama and dark comedy. The storyline offers intrigue, action, forbidden love, betrayal, corruption, and the supernatural. The story also offers solid twists and turns. The main storyline centers on the psychic teen searching for missing treasure. It s a smart story choice, as everyone loves the idea of finding buried treasure. This gives the novel a strong, actionable goal with merit, and it keeps the story goal focused. The subplot of the budding teen romance supports the main storyline and is fluidly integrated. One of the major strength of this novel is the compelling ensemble cast. Each character feels original and refreshing. They are complex and rich in personality. The Brameld s ideas to understand human condition were nurtured by thinkers such as Freud and Marx, as well as by sociologists such as W. L. Warner (Thomas, 1999). • 27. Christianity And The Nature Of God If one is to write about Christianity and the nature of God, one must have a foundation to rely upon. Both theology and our epistemological queries concerning God must be crafted from a source. Michael Bird in his Evangelical Theology notes that the prolegomena or things we say before saying anything about Godmust be predicated upon a critical source. This source is God s Word and is revealed in multiple ways. If one is to conduct a Credo or apologetic stance of his Christian faith, this person ought to explain how God reveals Godself, especially through the Biblical text, but also potentially through creation. God revealing Godself through the God s Word is also known as Special Revelation; whereas, God revealing God s personality through creation is known as General Revelation or Natural Theology. First and foremost, there is a significant debate concerning the possibility of Natural Theology. Emil Bruner and Karl Barth famously debated this in the 1930 s as Barth argued that only the Holy Spirit can illuminate the person of God so that God is revealed to humanity. Without the illumination of the Holy Spirit, humanity is too deep in their sin to see God s handiwork throughout creation. The sculpture was commissioned by Pope Julius II, in an attempt to mirror his larger than life reputation and personality. Michelangelo Moses along with other pieces of sculpture and artwork were to be enshrined in the Pope s planned resting place, with the Moses statue placed opposite of another figure of Saint Paul. However, it would never come to be, as the Moses sculpture would not be completed until more than 30 years after Pope Julius death in 1513. Pope Julius II had commissioned Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel as well as build his entire tomb, but the chapel frescos occupied all of the painter s time (Michelangelo Gallery.com).
