Robert Glaser Case
Robert Glaser was having a blast when in 1995 he attended a Billy Joel concert at Jack Murphy
Stadium. Really into the music, a mystery in itself, Glaser finds he has to answer nature s call.
He goes to the nearest restroom and finds a woman in there squatting over a urinal. Glaser is
embarrassed thinking he has entered the wrong bathroom. His search continues. But, every
restroom he finds he also finds a woman in it. Desperate for privacy to pee, he his disheartened
when he discovers the bathrooms at the stadium are unisex. Logically, Glaser chooses to hold it
for the rest of the concert. Being a Billy Joel concert that was only a short four hours. Glaser filed
suit against the stadium and the city of San Diego for $5.4 million for emotional distress and
embarrassment. His claim also stated the venue... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pearson vs. Pants Snatchers Roy L. Pearson was a proud man. He had just been awarded a
position of honor among his field. Pearson was to sit at the bench as an administrative judge.
Starting his new job soon he went out and bought a nice suit that fit well, except the pants
needed a little hemming. Pearson takes them to the local dry cleaner to have them altered.
When he returns to pick them up a storm cloud looms over head. The pants have gone missing.
On his first pass he demands $1150, the cost of the entire suit. Second pass, 3500. However,
owner s of the cleaners, the Chungs, countered with 3000, Pearson smelled blood and pushed
further. 4000, then 4600 and eventually $12,000 was demanded for the missing pants. By the
time it went to court Pearson was now humbling asking for $67 million dollars. File included our
old friend, emotional damages, legal fees(Pearson represented himself), ten years of car rental
fees ,since he had to drive to another dry cleaner, and the value of the missing pants; $395.00.
Not only did Pearson lose the case, he had to pay the defendant s legal fees and a judicial panel
recommended Pearson not receive a ten year bench

The United States Constitution
The United States Constitution was ratified in the summer of 1788 and is the governing document
of the United States of America. Owing to its brevity and clarity of thought, it has stood the test of
time, whereas founding laws of other nations have come and gone, lost to the thoughts of the many
for whom they were originally conceived of to sustain. Of the prescient statutes that comprise this
most venerable of documents is Article 1, Section Four, which laid a foundation for the electionof
federal representatives. It states in part: The Times, Places and Manner of holding Electionsfor
Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the
Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While codification of this statute in 1875 for the U.S. House of Representatives and in 1914 for the
U.S. Senate has accomplish much in the way of streamlining the elections process throughout the
United States, the nation is still saddled with a patchwork of 50 state laws which make it, almost
by constitutional decree, impossible for citizens of the United States to equally exercise their civic
voting rights. While the U.S. Code mandates a date for federal elections, the Constitution
simultaneously grants each state broad power in how it conducts federal elections. The outcomes
on Election Day are the result of disparate voting experiences and, some argue that to protect the
integrity of the electoral system, changes need to be implemented. Others argue that voter turnout
is a problem, with the United States historically ranking embarrassingly low internationally in
voter turnout, but that these results are due to lack of voter interest in the political system as a
whole rather than lack of opportunity to cast a ballot. Is there a problem, and if we agree there is,
what is at its root? Furthermore, what could be done politically to address any such problem?
Those U.S. citizens that seek to participate in the election process are in some precincts faced with
an inadequate number of poll workers and voting

The Melting Pot Ideology In America
Many Americans assume that the concept of actually forming the melting pot ideology in America
would be easy to obtain, that combining various cultures wouldn t be that much of a challenge.
However, an attempt to completely bring this ideology into society can cause problems among the
population. With the rising tension between races in America with recent events such as the riots in
Ferguson, Missouri, trying to combine cultures could cause an explosion of hate crimes and racism
due to the differences between them. The American Melting Potideal, in terms of assimilating
different cultures into one culture, would be difficult to achieve. The Melting Pot culture is one
where several different cultures come together and adopt other parts into one single society. The
problem with people assimilating into any society is that they can lose the uniqueness of their
culture. In some cases, people are forced to choose between their own culture and the... Show more

When trying to have a mixture of cultures in one society to create its own, you will eventually
have to pick and choose what qualities would make sense together rather than every single
characteristic trying to work together. Otherwise, there would be contradicting parts of culture
trying to make this society work. The misuse of parts of the various cultures is going to be there
when trying to combine. April Wilkner, who competed on ANTM, was pointed out as being very
uncomfortable with her identity of being a half Japanese and half White person, but the producers
and directors of this show were still confusing that identity by adorning her with symbols from a
country unconnected to her heritage. (Pozner 398). The assimilation of cultures into one is going to
disconnect us from knowing where certain characteristics of the melting pot belong if everything

Model And Assumptions Of The Royle Nichols Model
Model and Assumptions The Royle Nichols model allows estimation of abundance from multiple
observations of present absent animals without specifically marking the animal. This model
represents the spatial distribution of the species observed. Several assumptions are made but two of
them are fundamental for this model. First one is that the spatial distribution of the animals across
survey sites follows Poisson distribution, and second is the probability of detecting an animal at a
site is a function of how many animals are actually at that site. The Poisson distribution represents
the mechanism of spatial distribution which is simply how many animals occur at each site within
the study area. This model assumes that each site is home to a certain number of species and this
number does not change overtime, which means no deaths, births, immigration or emigration of the
observed species. The Poisson distribution has as the mean parameter О» ( lambda ) which is the
mean abundance across the observed sites.
The probability density formula of for Poisson distribution is F(x)= (e^ О»)* (О»^x)/ x! Where x is
the number of animals at a given site and F(x) is the generic term of any probability distribution.
Given this information we can find the probability that a specific number of animals occupy a
given site. The graph for this formula takes different shapes. For example, if we calculate this
function for О»=3 and x=5 animals, the result is a probability of 0.10. The graph

Seven Steps to Solving the Housing Crisis
The crisis that America has found herself in, to be completely blunt and honest, all revolves around
stupidity and bad choices. American citizens that had absolutely no business even thinking of
buying a house flooded the market and were encouraged by greedy bankers that were out to make a
profit, without thinking of the consequences or morals involved. Now the governmenthas over
stepped their boundaries and are spending this country into such deep debt, which makes one think
that that light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train with no hope of slowing down, let
alone stopping. The solution to this economic crisis is outlined in seven easy baby steps: 1.
America needs to create a small emergency fund (at least a million... Show more content on

Houses would be paid for, jobs would open up, the stock market would probably not shift as
much as it does, welfare programs would become obsolete, over 70% of Americans would stop
living pay check to pay check, and everyone would retire with dignity. Everyone could get
themselves educated, which would make us all winners, and broke people would stop buying
houses that they can t afford. If everyone bought houses that they could afford then there would
be no more foreclosures; especially if everyone had an emergency fund to give them an alternative
if something happened. If businesses weren t built on debt, especially sole proprietorships, then
businesses wouldn t have to lay a bunch of people off or cut down productivity. America needs to
save to help take care of her people and Americans need to take care of themselves so that we all
win in the end.
Lastly, America needs to build a bunch of wealth and give a bunch of it away. This concept is
for the government and her people because when one gives and it becomes a habit, that person is
forever changed. It reminds them that it s not all about them. It s not about getting a bunch of
stuff that they can t afford to impress people that they don t even like. It s about taking care of
your neighbor; it s about being a selfless person and nation in a selfless world. America needs to

Executive Orders Of The American Presidency
Executive Orders in the American PresidencyBy Niraj PatelPOLI 100A Prof. James Ingram By
definition, an executive order is a presidential policy directive that implements or interprets a
federal statute, a constitutional provision, or a treaty. An executive order can also be
categorized under executive directives, and executive proclamation. (1) Though many may
think of an executive order as an alternative term for a presidential proclamation , it is not.
Presidential proclamations are strictly reserved for public policy and for ceremonial purposes,
such as the declaration of a day for remembrance, etc. Executive orders find their roots from not
only the U.S. Constitution, but Congress as well. Though it s powers are derived from outside of
the executive branch, executive orders do not require any sort of approval whatsoever, and the
president can utilize these orders to set up policy and rules while ultimately negating any thought
of public opposition. Furthermore, executive orders have the ability to be applied to a wide range
of activities and categories, and in the past they have; from implementing internment camps during
WWII, sending U.S. troops abroad, to ideals such as increasing the area of national forests. What
makes executive orders such a hot topic is that historically, these orders only regulated the internal
operational factors of governmental/federal agencies as well as to regulate and oversee public
lands, but more recently, has

Soviets diplomatic pressure, its military power and...
Soviets diplomatic pressure, its military power and political infiltration, are one of the factors that
helped establish communism in Eastern Europe after 1945. Right after the fall of Nazi Germany,
Europe was still recovering through the shocks of Nazism and fascism, and communism was seen
as the right safeguard against the possibility of revival of fascism in the future. The Eastern Europe
had a bad reputation with stable democratic governments, and the economic and political situation
in the after war years were fertile grounds for the Communist leaders.
Countries like Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania were in extreme financial crisis and communist
policies would have been attractive to them and help their countries rise from depression; ... Show

Almost all of the government regimes in these countries were controlled by communist leaders
working remotely from Russia: communication gap between these leaders and the governments of
such countries grew wider and wider. The communication gap caused lack of supervision and
administration, which resulted in governments not distributing the products and goods to the
people fairly. Cold war also proved to be one of the reasons USSR failed to maintain a communist
regime in these Eastern European states; they were focused more on competing with USA than
looking after the general population. Timely distribution of goods was severely held back by
corruption and mismanagement. Most of the general population felt the provisions they were
handed were fair and satisfactory, while many others felt completely opposite, and felt that they
didn t have enough means to survive after all the hard work and effort that had put in. Communism
was merely just an illusion of Joseph Stalin to take over these countries and support his own
agenda. While most of the local population suffered, many government officials from communist
parties became richer and richer. The imbalance was quiet visible to the general public which now
wanted free market society. When demands weren t met, it caused an outrage and civil uprising
among the citizens. As a result one country after another freed itself from the clutches of
communism and

Company Background Of The Brand Of Coca Cola
Part I. Strategic Auditing Company Background The iconic brand of Coca Cola dates back to
the late 1800 s when a pharmacist from Atlanta created a distinctive soft drink that would take
the world by storm. Initially charging five cents per glass out of a soda fountain machine at
local convenience stores, Coca Cola started to grow and expand outside of Atlanta. Once they
recognized success as a fountain drink, Coca Cola then started the production of bottling the
beverage. Coca Cola beverage consumption has since grown and is now around $1.9 billion a day
with presence in over 200 differnet countries (Coca Cola Historyв”‚World of Coca Cola, n.d.).

In first world countries like the United States of America, where they originated, Coca Cola has
little need to worry about the risk of political instability. It is when they enter into third world
emerging markets the Coca Cola opens themselves up to instability and corruption risks. The
risk faced in these less developed countries could result in a loss of investment if problems were
to arise. Economic Factors: Being a dominant brand worldwide, it means that Coca Cola
products are being bought and sold using many different types of currency. Because of this,
Coca Cola is face with foreign exchange risk. Recently, many economies in Europe have been
struggling and currencies have become unstable. This is an economic risk faced by Coca Cola
due to their global expansion. Social Factor: One of the major external factors that influence the
success and decisions made by Coca Cola is the sociocultural trend towards healthy alternatives.
Because the original Coca Cola was high in sugar and caffeine, which is unappealing to the current
health trend, Coca Cola needed to adjust products or their success would be a thing of the past.
Environmental: Just like that change to a healthier life style, the current societal norms take into
consideration the environmental impact of large corporations. Coca Cola uses a large quantity of
water in the production process and has been criticized by their environmental stakeholders. This
has caused Coca Cola to find

Analysis Of The Poem Sax Impey
Sax Impey is a Cornish artist, who works out of the Porthmeor studios overlooking the beach, St
Ives. Born in Penzance and trained in Newport, Wales where he studied . The majority of his
work is inspired by the sea. Continuing the tradition set in motion by Ben Nicholson, Patrick
Heron and other recognized Cornish artists. Alongside Francis Bacon as well. His work is drawn
from his own first hand experiences with the ocean and its relentless energy and overwhelming
power and its seeming endlessness. Growing up in Penzance Impey was always exposed to views
out to sea but a lot of the workis actually inspired by navigating around the world s oceans during
his career delivering yachts around the world for TV yacht delivery, travelling thousands of
nautical miles. The particular work of his I have been studying is from his exhibition Storm from
2011 at the Millennium Gallery, St.Ives. His work is technically very impressive with his skill of
semi photographic representation and carefully calculated compositions.
What am I doing here? You idiot .
Interestingly it never before occurred to Impey to make work about the sea. Despite being
surrounded by it his entire life. It wasn t until he was completely immersed by it that he became
captivated and inspired to respond to his experience. Particularly this work Storm which was
inspired by a real life near death experience of being isolated out at sea in unpredictably strong
winds whilst attempting to sail from Ireland through

The Struggle Of Women s Participation
If you are reading this, quite possibly as a woman, your rights may not be what the women who
went before you fought so hard to achieve. As I write to tell you the areas of achievement, please
understand that cultural drift sometimes took a long time to come about given our patriarchal
society with values of tradition, order and obedience. Until the end of the 19th century almost all
women would not have thought about challenging societal norms. You will see that newer
values develop in women around freedom, independence and ambition to have an equal say
about their world and their bodies. Some fights would be won and others are still in progress;
these are all very important history lessons that will help you learn how women became able to
participate fully in society, no longer a man s world without women s participation. I will explain
just a few of the courageous women and their tactics and strategies for achieving an egalitarian
society where women have equal opportunities in the realm of voting rights, education, work and
birth control. No fight is won alone, each woman was joined by others who helped including some
open minded men. Women were given the right to vote in 1920 when the 19th Amendment to the
Constitution was passed. This was the end to a long battle that lasted over 70 years. Two brave
women Elizabeth Cady Stantonand Lucrecia Mott, both longtime abolitionists, organized the first
meeting in 1848 to discuss women s issues in New York. At first these

Strategic Marketing Objectives
Our marketing objective is to promote the BMW MINI to our target audience of driving consumers
in their mid twenties to thirties with heavy television, print, and outdoor campaigning. The MINI
will kick off its introduction with the first of seven new TV spots breaking on October 26th during
Sunday Night Football on ESPN. The television campaign will continue to roll out over October
and November on cable networks including CNBC, CNN, MTV and VH1. The strategy is to
include this broad range of drivers offering them opportunities to take their driving experience to a
whole new level, while gaining their trust and loyalty. Spot television buys will concentrate on
morning news, prime time, late news, and weekend sporting events in top sales markets. We want
to continually focus on our message to our consumer market of empowerment, independence,
performance, value, and fun associated with taking ownership of the new MINI.
Print advertising, which includes a large concentration of gatefolds, will include similar messaging
to that of the television ads and will begin appearing in the October issues of more than 50
magazine titles. A special two page layout will appear in the Wall Street Journal, along with USA

Definition Of A Bad Person Analysis
The Definition of a Bad Person The only people who care about privacy, the only people who will
seek out privacy, are by definition bad people is a quote by Glenn Greenwald explaining his view
on privacy. His view is that people that want privacy have something to hide and, therefore, are
deemed to be a bad person. My view, on the other hand, is a complete opposite one of Mr.
Greenwald. I feel that most people want privacyin order to get that safe feeling in their mind and
make them feel better as they know that whatever they are doing will not and cannot escape to
the public. Maybe they don t want others to judge them, after all, isn t that what the world is
mostly made up of today? Different people have different styles, but there are people who have
social media and post things because they want to be judged while others refrain and sit back.
Even though their style is different, people without social media probably still have good things to
share but simply would rather not share it, thus wanting privacy. Does that make them a bad
person? In Glenn Greenwald s eyes I guess so, but in mine, no.... Show more content on

Agency In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
Abdelmonem Khedr Siddhartha ELA Honors
As one seeks the accomplishment of a goal they will consider agency. An individual will choose
agency over complacency because it is the most logical and efficient way to reach what he or she
desires. When one picks complacency they will face problems and are not guaranteed to reach what
they want. According to Ms.Plump When a person shows agency they are trying to make choices
that will improve or better their situation . Agency was vividly shown as Siddhartha was on his path
to reaching enlightenment in the novel Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse.
Siddhartha displays agency throughout the novel by making decisions that ease his trajectory. He

The violin is one of those instruments that one can play for years, and never truly master.
However, when one has the ability to play the violin, they are able to experience so many things
that a regular non violin playing person would never experience. This next year will be my 10th

As a kid, I grew up reading fictional stories; the first book I ever held was the story of Winnie the
Pooh and his friends (a gift from my parents when I got sick), watching and discovering sorts of
characters from animated shows; and that includes imitating Disney Princesses of course, and
many others. So when I was 7, I started wanting to become a successful artist, a writer, or any other
that was connected with the arts and crafts. Why? It started when I was little and flourished when I
entered school.
Now that I am 18, living a life with a purpose of reaching my goals, I wanted something unusual
to experience a situation wherein I have to dedicate myself to it, passionate enough to
accomplish that something. Hopefully, if ever I get a chance to talk to the 7 year old me, we

B. F. Skinner
In this article, it closely examines the use of technology and how it can influence the culture and
the people through B.F. Skinner incredible work in behavior analysis. It mentions that science of
behavior contains a science of values and of moral behavior (Castro, Melo, Rose, 5). According to
B.F. Skinner if the culturehas values it will survive. Since facts and values are considered to be
the same and that values belong to the real world. Radical metaethics can relate to empirical
ethics. Since good things are positively reinforced and bad things are negatively reinforced. The
value of its culture contributes to its survival. However, values are only meant to be good morals.

I would really like to know what the relationships between our culture, ethics and technology have
to do with B.F. Skinner findings. It took me by surprise that some of B.F. Skinner were
misleading even the authors in this article was also saying that there are other things to consider in
what B.F. Skinner had found through his work in behavior analysis. However, everything he
discovered was agreeable. Reading this article had given me a lot of knowledge about B.F. Skinner
and psychology as a whole. I did not know that good can also be consequences. I personally
thought that good is about doing good things like following the rules and orders that were given
to you. But it was not which was interesting because B.F. Skinner mentions that is about we feel
during an event in our lifetime. Whether that s positive or negative reactions. By taking it
further following the rules and orders does not result in someone else happiness and progression
as a person to know itself personally. That is why a cultural society needs to be balanced. Some
will follow the rules and have discipline and some will not who are sometimes careless and under
control. What B.F. Skinner mention about well educated people are the ones who will build a
better world I strongly agree with. Since they are the ones who applied their understanding and
teach it to others. Overall, this article was worth reading. I wasn t expecting much of this article but
it made me think more about the things they have mentioned that is really important in today s

Born on May 27, 1907 in Springdale, Pennsylvania Rachel Carson was a writer, scientist, and
ecologist. Growing up in a rural town with her parents, she was given the opportunity to

followed her mother s passion first as a writer and later as a scholar of marine biology. It
appeared that Rachel s mother and her love for nature activated Rachel s concern for nature, as

Foreign Direct Investment Risk Analysis on Cuba
Background: Cuba is an island in the Caribbean. La Habana is the capital of Cuba and its biggest
city. Cuba is not an industrialized country and it mainly consists of farms. Cuba is the largest island
in the Caribbean and the most populated with a population of over 11 million people. Cuba is a
totalitarian communist country and has been ruled by Fidel Castro since 1959. Raul Castro has
succeeded Fidel Castro and is now president. In 2008 Fidel Castro renounced his presidency after

7. Support for Government74 There is little to no support for Cuban government. There are
currently political prisoners and human rights movements that are not legally recognized by the
government. Also Cuba has government agencies similar to KGB of Soviet Union, which strictly
investigates and under covers people opposed to government, this they refer to as security of state.
This is something I am hopeful will change followed by more freedom for Cuban citizens.
8. Influence of Anti Business53 The government allows foreign business but has full control to
change anything they want.
9. Public Opinion of Foreign 42
Ownership
Public is kept unaware of most major foreign ownership. For example, there are small islands off
the major island, which have been sold to Italy, Spain and France. The general population is told
that Cuba owns 51% of these islands. However, it is all very unclear being that the islands operate
with Euros. Cubans are not allowed on these islands; therefore I would think they are not happy
with these foreign ownerships.

Wildwood Lake Canoe Company Casse Study Essay
Wildwood Lake Canoe Company
In January 2010, Allan Monroe was preparing for the April opening of the Wildwood Lake Canoe
Company (WLC), a canoe manufacturing shop in St. Mary s, Ontario. Monroe planned to build 30
canoes per year and he wondered what strategy and tactics would maximize his profits.
The initiative for WLC evolved from Monroe s canoeing and woodworking hobbies. Monroe had
canoed recreationally for more than 20 years and had built three canoes, which he sold after using
them each for a season. Last spring, when Monroe decided to purchase a canoe for the first time, he
suffered what he described as sticker shock. He could not believe the price and poor quality of
retail canoes. Monroe saw an opportunity to build ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monroe planned to produce 30 canoes in the first year and average one canoe every ten days,
which would leave 65 days to buffer any unforeseen production delays[1]. Monroe would have to
work seven days a week to maintain the production pace; however, he felt that he could handle a
seven day schedule for two to three years. Although the first canoes were scheduled to take
almost 12 days to build, manufacturing time would gradually decrease. Monroe knew that he
would have to invest in some equipment which would include an estimated $5,530 for power
equipment and accessories; hand tools at $835; cutters, blades and bits at $800; benches, stands
and cabinets for $1,600; forms and jigs for $160; and office equipment for $3,055. Monroe
projected that variable costs would total $1,161 per canoe[2] and annual operating expenses would
total $8,644[3].
The market for canoes followed the business cycle. In recessions, canoe sales suffered as many
prospective customers stopped recreational spending. Sales of premium priced canoes were
especially vulnerable. The statistics showed that many companies were unable to survive the recent
recession that began in 2008; however, industry sales had been strong and improving over the past
year or so. Monroe was optimistic that growth would continue in the immediate future.
Promotion would consist of a website, advertisements in canoeing magazines and

The Importance Of Land Conflict In The South China Sea
The South China Sea is the main time link between the Pacific and Indian oceans, giving it
enormous trade and military value (Rappler). There is a current conflict over a territory occurring
in the South China Sea. There are multiple countries trying to militarize and attain the area. This
is causing a lot of tension similar to Alsace Lorraine and the Balkan region leading up to World
War One. The geographical resources that are in the sea make it very desirable. Land disputes
during World War One in the Balkans
and Alsace Lorraine, and those disputes that are forming in
the South China Sea could have been prevented with negotiation and de militarization. Land
disputes in the Balkans and Alsace Lorraine were a leading cause to World War One. A big cause
of European tension prior to World War 1 was the continued instability and conflict in the Balkans.
This land was a cluster of nations including Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, and Bosnia
(Alpha History). The Balkans had few natural resources, making it less of an large economic prize
but more of a geographical prize. The Balkans were right in the middle of three key empires:
Ottoman Empire, Russia, and Austria Hungary. It had multiple water sources and water ways
which caused it to be strategically vital. This caused a lot of European tension leading up to World
War One. More tension caused by land was between France and Germany called Alsace Lorraine,

Essay On Intellect In Romeo And Juliet
Should your decision be based upon intellect or emotion? This can sometimes be a tough
decision for some people because they want to do what their heart says, but they know it s not
the right choice. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo makes decisions based
upon his emotion, the fact that he loves Juliet. This ends badly for him because he ends up killing
himself as he thinks there is nothing left to live for, because Juliet is presumed dead. While
making a decision using your heart instead of thinking about what the best option is for you feels
right, human choice should be driven by intellect because a human can be reasonable and decide if
the choice they are making is right or wrong, and by using emotion, they can lose track of reality
and the can get blindsided by love or even anything, and make the wrong choice.
Additionally, by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a choice was driven by emotion, people would get so upset over something that they wouldn t
be able to see all the great things that were right in front of them. Instead of doing this, by
thinking intellectually, you can sit down and compose your thoughts and ideas before jumping
to conclusions. For example, in Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, Piggy starts getting
emotional, and starts to believe they ll stay on the island the rest of their lives. His lips quivered
and the spectacles were dimmed with mist. We may stay here till we die. (Golding, 14) This
probably affected his whole experience on the island. If all the boys had been more positive,
maybe none of them would be killed or they wouldn t have split up into groups. You see, they
were so distracted by the fantasy of the beast, He says he saw the beastie. (Golding, 36) that they
didn t realize where they were and how they could get off the island or work together to get off.
Reality is something that should be made with choices composed by

Pros And Cons Of Dependence On Technology Essay
Technology surround us. Like water in the cream, people are swimming in technology each and
every day. From the radio playing a favourite song to a text received about the results of a game,
people use technology constantly. However, there is a point at which people are overtaken by
technology; when he wave engulfs us and there is no way out. People are becoming more and
dependent on technology. Ever since technology began heavily integrating itself into society, many
major uses have developed, but at a cost that brings on dangerous side effects, both mental and
physical, as shown by the potential Y2k bug, that will continue unless active measures are sought
out by those so dependent on technology. Outside of the classroom and the office, technology is
still omnipresent. The internet, like most advancements and perhaps the best known example of
modern technology, began at a military level ( Information Technology 2) and wound up eventually
landing in the laps of businesses and the common person. With this, the normal way of conducting

Sin In The Scarlet Letter
In freedom most people find sin. This John Green quote is true for every symbol of sin in The
Scarlet Letter. Hester Prynn has freedom when her husband leaves; while he is gone she has an
affair with Author Dimmesdale. Hester becomes pregnant and the townspeople force her to wear a
scarlet A . Throughout The Scarlet LetterNathanial Hawthorn deals with sin through symbolism. In
The Scarlet Letter the Black man represents the devil. He forces people to be sinners, according to
the puritanreligion, Godly people were sober, hardworking, and responsible. To puritans sinners
were the opposite of this. The Black man carries a book that sinners write their names in. Pearl,
Hester Prynn s daughter, talks about the Black man s book saying he haunts this forest and carries
a book with him... (The) Black man offers his book and an iron pen to everybody he meets... they
are to write their names with their own blood; and then he sets his mark on their bosoms. This

Hester herself admits the A she wears is the Black mans mark saying This scarlet letter is his
mark. Meaning the A represents sin. This is all that the people of Boston see when they look at
her to them it represent her whole identity. Later in the novel she saying the A represents Able.
The A Hester wears is not the only scarlet A in the novel. Dimmesdale carves an A into his chest
as a sign of his guilt for the sin he committed. When Governor Winthrop dies a scarlet A is seen
in the sky the townspeople take this as a sign that the governor had become an angel. Dimmesdale
sees the A in the sky as a sign of his sin. Pearl sees the A as a representation of her mother this is
seen when she refuses to go to her mother when Hester is not wearing the A . Through out The

Public Health Policy And The Care Crisis
Public health policy is associated with the need to imposition public health professionals to consider
leading gaps in the future of health care crisis. The purpose is to protect the underserved and
underinsured population by the need to propose public health policy to safeguard individual s
health (Laureate Education, 2012). By protecting community health, in turn, helps control the cost
of the over burdensome healthcare expenses (Getzen, 2013). A public healthprofessional has an
obligation to influence the health status through evidence based policymaking needed to intervene
for policy makers. Given financial constraint to reduce health disparities financial preparation and
disseminative communication are the essential tools needed to make supplement legislative policy
(Brownson, Chriqui, Stamatakis, 2009; Laureate Education, 2012). The future financing to improve

Analysis of Architecture in Photography Essay
Analysis of Architecture in Photography
I have decided to look at architecture for my next genre in photography. I have chosen architecture
as it is very different to fashion photography and looks at totally different materials and includes
different characteristics. In the early years of photography, few if any photographers were
specialists in any area other than commercial portraiture, which was the main area in which a living
could be made from the new medium. Early photographers did fairly often photograph buildings,
often working from the window of a convenient room rather than at street level.

Even thought the photo only consists of blue, it is made up of lots of different shades of blue.
The lights on the building and around it stand out because they are a bright colour. I think the way
the sea blue colour merges into the deep blue/black colour of the background works really well.
The photograph doesn t really have a story to it, as there isn t much going on, it doesn t have
energy or any movement to it at all. However it could easily be a scene used in a film, such as an
establishing shot. The photo has a certain peaceful feel to it. It is soothing to look at; this is
because it is a calm, quiet setting you can almost feel your presence there, staring into the
beautiful view. I think the reason that the photo has such a positive, relaxing feel to it is down to
the fact that the composition of the photo reminds you of a deep blue sea or a clear black sky. The
photo has strong verticals and horizontal, which emphasise a static feel and the negative space.
The picture has a large depth of field with the two buildings the centre point of it. Only natural
lighting is used for this photo, therefore getting the exact time of day right would have been
essential.
The photo also has some negative points to it. The angle at which the photograph is taken from
makes the picture looks really flat and plain, For instance if

Is Okonkwo Guilty
My initial reaction to the charges brought against Okonkwo were very surprised considering
Okonkwo was a respected member of the ribe and you would not expect to to commit such heinous
crimes as this. I feel that Okonkwo is guilty of all three charges; The murder of his foster son
Ikemefuna, The abuse and attempted murderof Ekwefi, and the unprovoked attack of the court

Okonkwo is guilty of murdering his foster son because the Oracle never said that he specifically
had to kill Ikemefuna. Okonkwo took it upon himself to kill Ikemefuna, without any direction
from the Oracle. Okonkwo was not even there when the Oracle told the order of Ikemefuna s
death, he found out from Ogbuefi. Yes, Umuofia has decided to kill him. The Oracle of the Hills
and the Caves has pronounced it. They will take him outside Umuofia as is the custom, and kill
him there (Achebe 57). This evidence shows that the men who were present were supposed to be
the ones to kill Ikemefuna, Okonkwo did not need to have any part in it.

Charles Perrault s Impact On Modern History
The fairy tale Cinderella is a well known story about serving, kindness, true love, and a little bit of
magic. It is one of the oldest fairy tales and has been interpreted many different ways. Even though
the details have changed, the main storyline remains the same. Around 1697, a child friendly
version of Cinderellawas created by Charles Perrault who had a major impact on modern history in
France (Encyclopedia Americana, 2006).
Charles Perrault was a french poet, prose writer, and storyteller in the mid to late 17th century.
He was born in Paris on January 12th, 1628 and lived until 1703, passing away in Paris on May
16th (Encyclopedia Americana, 2006). Growing up, he worked as a clerk for his brother, Claude

It is better to have intelligence, courage, common sense, and kindness than beauty. Cinderella was
beautiful, and was even more beautiful because she had those other qualities as well (Encyclopedia
Americana, 2006).
A review on the classic story of Cinderella shares that Charles Perrault is credited with the best
known version. In the french version, the shoe was made of vair, but the word for glass in
french is verre. Both words are pronounced the same and that is how Perrault made the switch to
the glass slipper. Disney chose Perrault s version of Cinderella most likely because it was not as
gruesome as the Brother s Grimm version (Review, 2011).
In another review, Charles Perrault is known not only for solidifying fairy tales as a literary
genre, but also wrote nearly all of the signature stories of this genre. All the stories mentioned
earlier in the Tales of Mother Goose spread through levels of modern art and entertainment. In
Perrault s time, children s literature wasn t a thing and that is why the morals of his stories take on
more worldly issues while still having childlike fantasies (Review,

Comparing Schiele s Reclining Woman And Liepke

Eternal and Close cropped blonde present women as respected figures. Despite portrayed as erotic
and sexual, the artworks of both artists have highlighted sexuality and cultural symbolism in their
corresponding contexts. Whilst Schiele s sensitive drawings are graphic and provocative, frequently
modeling nude women, the embrace of physical distortion highlights his genuine obsessiveness and
adoration of women in contextual society. In contrast, Liepke s paintings reflect women caught up

Heavily influenced by conceptual styles of Edgar Degas and John Singer Sargent, Liepke takes
on the perspective of a flaneur, observing contemporary life whilst hoping to reveal the
personalities and intimacies of his sitters. This sense of intimacy is expressed in Eternal, where a
voyeuristic nude is captured through a realistic lens over a pornographic one that is alluring and
honest despite bare appearance. Representing the female subject as someone to be liberated,
Liepke manipulates stylistic poses for the nude model as she is rolled up like that of a child in a
fetal position upon a dark and thick surface creating a contrast, suggesting protection and
vulnerability being exposed. This mirrors the dominating psychological reactions of female citizens
being restricted and grounded in traditions of submissiveness and limited freedom in response to
corrupt post modern expectations. Liepke reinvestigates the cultural representation of female roles
in using vector lines that separate the background into three sections. Of which the stray brushwork
in the gold, yellow ochre wall conveys a freedom of mind and casualness encapsulating majority of

Abortion Should Not Be Illegal Essay
Abortion is widely debated across the world and in 1973 Roe v. Wade would start an issue with
ethical and legal issues. There are multiple cases arguing why it should or shouldn t be lawful to
go through with this procedure. Women should have the right to get an abortion as It is her
rights to decide if they aren t able to be able have a child, the woman shouldn t have to rely on
anyone else, she should be able to make this decision as they have to carry it for 9 months and
endure the physical pain. Abortion should not be illegal because it is justifiable in cases of rape,
or when the woman has mental health or financial issues. In the case of rape, it is unjustifiable
to say that a woman has to carry a baby when she is forced into intercourse with a man who the
woman does not please. For those who say that abortion is so inhumane, why doesn t one simply
look at the act of rape as disgusting as someone would look at abortion. The victim is going
through enough being forced without choice to have a child if she consumes, so why make her
carry the baby for 9 months knowing that the perpetrator has given her this child. I don t think
that the women should have to be mentally viable for this child or have to take care of a child that
is forced upon her own will. Having a child hurts very much, why put a victim of rape through

Symbolism By Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
Symbolism; the use of symbols to represent something abstract by something concrete. It can be
powerful in a novel when used correctly. Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter is a prime
example of Symbolism being used creatively in a work. This is what Hyatt H. Waggoner has to
say about the Hawthornes creativity. But in between the surface and the depths movement is
constant and complex, and it is in this middle that the principal value of the work lies. (Waggoner
73)What Waggoner is talking about is the Symbolism that is used by Hawthorne. Hawthorne s
symbolism is complex and creative. When symbolism is used there must always be symbols.
Symbols can take many forms and three of these forms are, places, things, and people. Hawthorne
uses these forms of symbols in his novel. The three symbols I will highlight are; the scaffold, the
scarlet letterand Reverend Dimmesdale. To give background, The Scarlet Letter takes place in
colonial Boston where the separation of church and state is not yet in place. Hester Prynneis a
normal puritan woman and is sentenced to wear a scarlet letter A on her bosom for the remainder
of her life. This is because she was sentenced with adultery after having sexual relations with
Reverend Dimmesdale, while being married to her husband, Roger Chillingworth. Hester Prynne
will not tell Roger Chillingworth who she had relations with, but he is determined to find Hester
Prynne s lover. Later in the story, Reverend Dimmesdale becomes ill and Roger

Relevant Legal Case Study
Relevant Legal Issues Consent and Guardianship In order for Megan to have valid consent, four
elements must be considered. Firstly, it must be voluntary, meaning consent must be given
freely without persuasion or threatening influence (Forrester Griffiths, 2010). Consent is only
valid for the procedure that Megan has consented too. No other procedures may be carried out
(Sheilds, 2010). Megan must be informed of the material and significant risks associated with
the treatment for consent to be valid (Sheilds, 2010). Lastly the patient must have legal capacity,
that is; having the ability to understand what they are giving consent for, and be of legal age (18)
(Sheilds, 2010). Due to the fact that Megan is 17, she is legally classified as a young person
Guardianship and Administration Act 1986 (Vic)(page 140 141), this means that her legal
guardians (her parents) may provide consent on her behalf due to fact she is a minor, however
exceptions to the rule enable Megan to provide consent in the circumstances that she is deemed
competent (Sheilds, 2010). This can be achieved by a Gillick competency test in which will apply
an assessment an individual young person s level of maturity and understanding in relation to the
treatment proposed (New South Wales Law Reform Commission, 2004). A similar precedence
known as Marion s case held that a young girl was competent to consent to contraceptive advice

Unemployment And The Rate Of Unemployment Essay
Rate of unemployment The definition of Unemployment is given by International Labour
Organisation (ILO) and adopted by Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) as A person aged 15
years and over is considered as unemployed if he/she do not work at all during the preceding
week of the survey (even an hour in the reference week) and is actively looking for work or is
available for work but do not work due to temporary illness or because there is no work available
. The rate of unemployment increased in Bangladesh during the 10 year period (1999 2000 to
2010). According to Labour Force Survey, 2010 the rate of unemployment stood at 4.5 percent
in 2010 which was 4.3 percent in 1999 2000. Furthermore, one of the most crucial findings is
that the rate of unemployment for female has been decreasing; on the other hand, this rate has
been increasing for male in the mentioned period (Basak,2013). For the female, the rates of
unemployment were 7.8 percent and 5.8 percent in 1999 2000 and 2010 respectively, whereas
those were 3.4 percent and 4.1 percent for male for the corresponding years. Moreover, this rate
was significantly higher in urban areas compared to rural areas in 2010. In rural areas, the rate of
unemployment was only 4 percent, whereas at urban areas, it was 6.5 percent. besides this, the rate
of unemployment increased with the increase of educational level up to Higher Secondary
Certificate (HSC) or equivalent levels. After that, this rate reduced for

Trans Continental Railroad Research Paper
In the eighteen hundreds a revolutionary idea sprouted in the mind of American s. As communities
began to build in the West so necessities to transport products became a priority. Many traveled and
transported by wagons and horses but even then products weren t delivered soon enough. Many
times tragedy struck many who had to cross the mountain terrain just to arrive at their destination.
Then a thought occurred as Americans got to see the mode of transportation that became all the
rage in Europe, and so America decided to build the transcontinental railroad. From the East and
West many hard working men built the Trans Continental Railroad to meet in the middle at
Promontory, Utah where the final spike was driven into the ground. Now America... Show more

Many of these modes couldn t accommodate the Long distances and slow transportation hampered
contact between eastern and western commercial centers. (Jones). People would have to travel
countless days and night just to make a profit or to start a new life. These ways were dangerous to
travel by and so the Transcontinental Railroad created a more safer and efficient way for people to
get to the places that they wanted to go. There were other benefits that came with the railroad. For
one, the country could create many fortunes that would be made from this first transcontinental
railroad and the other routes that soon followed. (Congress). The proposal of more annual income
from sales piqued many interests. In fact the proposition for the idea came from the New York City
dry goods merchant Asa Whitney (Transcontinental). Eventually companies could rack in money
from both ends of the country. Eventually, the many dollars that were spent on countless days of
work could be replenish and many businesses could make a living by moving their products around.
It was soon that people were making millions just from shipping and By 1880 more than $50
million worth of freight was transported annually from the East Coast to the West Coast along the
transcontinental line. (Transcontinental). Changes were happening and people were making
fortunes off of what had been made. As

How Did The Gold Rush Affect Immigration
The Gold Rush had an enormous impact on immigration globally, as it brought people from all
over the people. People from countries such as China, Mexico, France and other parts of Europe
came to California in hopes of finding gold and living a happy life. Not only did the presence of
immigrants help the cities grow physically, the immigrants who came from across the globe helped
the cities grow culturally and economically. These immigrants brought with them their own
language, culture, and beliefs. They helped make Californiavery rich and diverse in culture.
Particularly, it was the Chinese immigrants, who came in large numbers in search for gold. These

Californians (people of Spanish or Mexican descent); 700 foreigners (primarily Americans); and

territory grew exponentially. As stated in history.com, the non native language of the California
territory was some 100,000 by the end of 1849. This was a hundred times was than the
population in California prior to the discovery of gold (1848). In 1845, the population in the city
of San Francisco was around 400, but by 1860, when the rush had decelerated, the population
was well over 56,000. The state s population by the end of 1860 was 380,000. The immigrants
who traveled to California were very diverse, coming from China, Mexico, Ireland, France, and
even as far as Australia. France alone drew 30,000 immigrants. China attracted 20,000
immigrants in the year 1852 alone, as many as 2,000 immigrants arrived in a single day. (Rice)

OCTOBER, 2016
Abstract
Surgical asepsis, or aseptic technique is designed to eliminate all microorganisms, including spores
and pathogens, from an object and to protect an area from these microorganisms. Surgical asepsis
requires more precautions than medical asepsis. Breaks in technique result in contaminations, thus
increasing a patients risk for infection (Church, 2009).
Medical asepsis are used during procedures that require intentional perforation of a patient s skin,
when the integrity of the skin is broken from trauma or burns, and during procedures that involve
insertion of catheter or surgical instruments into sterile bodily cavities (AORN, 2013: church, 2009).
This study reviewed journal article from the Association of surgical technologists on the standard
practice for creating the sterile field.
Introduction
The purpose of creating a standard is to provide a framework that surgical technologists in the
perioperative setting can use as a reference point and accepted operational procedure in creating a

Crete Battle Essay
What caused the battle?
The introduction of aircraft to the war gave countries the abilities to do things never thought
possible. Sending paratroopers to the ground from the sky, and high accuracy target bombing
were only a couple of things that the introduction of aircraft brought. However, in order to use
these aircraft, a place for takeoff and landing was a necessity. This is where the island of Crete, in
Greece, had an advantage. As Crete was the largest of the islands in the Mediterranean, it would be
the perfect location for raids into the Balkans and Southern Europe, along with being a base for
tactical air support in Greece and the Balkans. The harbor was also the largest in the
Mediterranean, so it would be ideal for Naval base operations. If Crete were to fall into the hands
of the Germans, it could be used for raids into Egypt and Palestine, used as a base in the eastern
Mediterranean, used to prevent the British from taking advantage of the Balkans, to support
operations in North Africa, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the Royal Navy had prepared plans for a Base Defense Organisation to move onto the island as
soon as it became available (source 3). However, when the opportunity for this arrived, there was
such a shortage of troops and equipment due to other battles being carried out in the Middle East,
they began the battle with a great disadvantage. However, they did have some time to prepare as
the assault was delayed by about week due to a shortage of supplies in Greece for the Germans

Church Visit Response Essay
Church Visit Response Essay I grew up going to Catholic Church my whole life. I have
completed all my sacraments and attended 11 years of catechism. I am very comfortable in a
Catholic Church and feel very at ease with the atmosphere and rituals performed in a Catholic
church. The only time I have ever stepped foot in a church that was not Catholic has only been
for a wake or a wedding. So when it comes to experiencing different kinds of cultural and religious
practices, I am very naГЇve. Catholic massis very quiet and serene. We sing the same hymns and
keep the decibels very low. Mass always follows the same pattern and it is very structured. Although
I feel connected to the Catholic Church, I have stopped attending on a regular basis as I have
gotten older. I feel that I have stopped attending because I would often leave church not feeling
fulfilled. I have a friend who has been inviting to her church for a few years. I took this essay as
an opportunity to finally attend. I visited Celebration Church on Easter Sunday 2016. Given that it
was a special Christian holiday, the church was incredibly crowded. They had numerous children
activities taking place in the parking lot. The church volunteers that helped me find a parking and
greeted me as I walked through the door were extremely friendly. I am not trying to sound cynical,
but they were almost too friendly. This was the first thing I noticed that set this church apart from
what I have previously experienced. In fact

The Manifestations of Marxism in The God of Small Things
Arundhati Roy s novel The God of Small Things presents the reader with the realities of
Marxism. Roy gives the reader an impression of three possible manifestations of the ideology,
rather than presenting a biased reading for or against Marxism. Through Roy s novel the reader
comes to understand Marxism as it appears through Velutha, the oppressed worker, Chacko the
Marxist in name only, and Comrade Pillai, the corrupt politician. Comrade Pillai epitomizes the
idea of a corrupt politician. During his first scene in the novel, Roy describes him as walking
through the world like a chameleon. Never revealing himself, never appearing not to. Emerging
through chaos unscathed. (Roy 15) Furthermore, Comrade Pillai champions himself as an ally
of the oppressed and common people, but it is in reality a façade. Comrade Pillai is in reality a
champion only for his own interests. An example of Comrade s Pillai s selfish corruption is the
way that he watches the workers of Paradise Pickles and Preserves: Comrade Pillai had begun to
watch the goings on at Paradise Pickles with the keenness of a substitute at a soccer match. To
bring in a new labor union, however small, in what he hoped to be his future constituency would
be an excellent beginning for a journey to the Legislative Assembly. (Roy 114) Roy uses the
phrase keenness of a substitute at a soccer match to describe Comrade Pillai s attitude toward the
workers of Paradise Pickles and Preserves. This phrase seems to suggest

Cognitive Enhancement, Cheating, and Accomplishment
ABSTRACT. An ethics of enhancement should not rest on blanket judgments; it should ask us to
distinguish between the kinds of activities we want to enhance. Both students and academics have
turned to cognition enhancing drugs in significant numbers but is their enhancement a form of
cheating? The answer should hinge on whether the activity subject to enhancement is zero sum or
non zero sum, and whether one is more concerned with excellence in process or excellence in
outcome. Cognitive enhancement should be especially tolerated when the activities at stake are

I argue that the use of CEDs is especially beneficial, and should be especially tolerated, when the
activities at stake are non zero sum and when the importance of process is outweighed by the
importance of outcome. Finally, I criticize the claim that CEDs unnaturally cheapen human
accomplishments; instead, I consider their use to be in line with well established conceptions of
collaborative authorship, which shift the locus of praise and blame from individual creators to the
ultimate products of their efforts.

class as a sophomore without any previous coding experience. Starting out, I struggled with the
basic concepts and fell behind on projects. I relied heavily on help from my teacher and my

however, I decided to keep trying. As the second semester progressed, I gained greater

Comparing The Blithedale Romance And The Lamplighter
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Blithedale Romance and Maria Susanna Cummins The Lamplighter are
vastly different books. While originally published within two years of each other, both authors
approached their writing through distinctive practices. Hawthorne failed to show development in a
majority of his characters while Cummins novelis heavily loaded with positive character growth.
After reading The Blithedale Romance and The Lamplighter, one of the main differences noted was
that the development of characters, specifically female, showed the true writing of both authors.
The manner in which Hawthorne depicts women is rather unfavorable toward the female sex.

Fossil Fuel And Alternative Sources Of Energy
Energy Policy
Jameisha Lyttle
Gwynedd Mercy University
Abstract The United States government, as well as many others around the world, have relied on
fossil fuel as an energy source for a long period of time. The extraction, production, and
development of these sources have contributed to the many issues with the environment. In addition
to this, fossil fuel will not exist forever because there is a limited amount on earth and it cannot be
restored. For this reason, the United states should consider substituting fossil fuel with alternative
sources of energy. Switching to alternative source may save the Earth and may pose as a more
sustainable source of energy.
Although fossil fuels have been relied on for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alternative energy sources can be a sufficient replacement for fossil fuel because some forms of
alternative energy are recyclable and may be safer for the environment. For example, wind
energy does not cause any types of pollutants that can damage the health of people all over the
world. Wind Energy may be created by machines called wind turbines, that look like plane
propellers on a long and steep pole. The blowing winds are able to turn its propellers to provide
energy for an electric generator that distributes electric currents. These wind turbines have the
strength to provide energy for any small or large business all over the world (National
Geographic, n.d.). Another form of alternative energy that may provide a safer environment than
fossil fuels has is solar energy. When solar energy panels are hit by a ray of sun, the material
produces an electrical charge that can be transferred through a circuit to anything that is powered
by electricity (United States Environmental Protection Agency, 2012). These two alternative forms
of energy can produce large quantities of power by using the Earth s natural resources. This may
lead to less pollution as well as protection of the Earth s landscape in the future.
In the United States, many citizens have agreed that alternative energy sources may serve as a
safer form of power. For example, a team of students from Harvard

  • 2. Robert Glaser Case Robert Glaser was having a blast when in 1995 he attended a Billy Joel concert at Jack Murphy Stadium. Really into the music, a mystery in itself, Glaser finds he has to answer nature s call. He goes to the nearest restroom and finds a woman in there squatting over a urinal. Glaser is embarrassed thinking he has entered the wrong bathroom. His search continues. But, every restroom he finds he also finds a woman in it. Desperate for privacy to pee, he his disheartened when he discovers the bathrooms at the stadium are unisex. Logically, Glaser chooses to hold it for the rest of the concert. Being a Billy Joel concert that was only a short four hours. Glaser filed suit against the stadium and the city of San Diego for $5.4 million for emotional distress and embarrassment. His claim also stated the venue... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pearson vs. Pants Snatchers Roy L. Pearson was a proud man. He had just been awarded a position of honor among his field. Pearson was to sit at the bench as an administrative judge. Starting his new job soon he went out and bought a nice suit that fit well, except the pants needed a little hemming. Pearson takes them to the local dry cleaner to have them altered. When he returns to pick them up a storm cloud looms over head. The pants have gone missing. On his first pass he demands $1150, the cost of the entire suit. Second pass, 3500. However, owner s of the cleaners, the Chungs, countered with 3000, Pearson smelled blood and pushed further. 4000, then 4600 and eventually $12,000 was demanded for the missing pants. By the time it went to court Pearson was now humbling asking for $67 million dollars. File included our old friend, emotional damages, legal fees(Pearson represented himself), ten years of car rental fees ,since he had to drive to another dry cleaner, and the value of the missing pants; $395.00. Not only did Pearson lose the case, he had to pay the defendant s legal fees and a judicial panel recommended Pearson not receive a ten year bench ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The United States Constitution The United States Constitution was ratified in the summer of 1788 and is the governing document of the United States of America. Owing to its brevity and clarity of thought, it has stood the test of time, whereas founding laws of other nations have come and gone, lost to the thoughts of the many for whom they were originally conceived of to sustain. Of the prescient statutes that comprise this most venerable of documents is Article 1, Section Four, which laid a foundation for the electionof federal representatives. It states in part: The Times, Places and Manner of holding Electionsfor Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While codification of this statute in 1875 for the U.S. House of Representatives and in 1914 for the U.S. Senate has accomplish much in the way of streamlining the elections process throughout the United States, the nation is still saddled with a patchwork of 50 state laws which make it, almost by constitutional decree, impossible for citizens of the United States to equally exercise their civic voting rights. While the U.S. Code mandates a date for federal elections, the Constitution simultaneously grants each state broad power in how it conducts federal elections. The outcomes on Election Day are the result of disparate voting experiences and, some argue that to protect the integrity of the electoral system, changes need to be implemented. Others argue that voter turnout is a problem, with the United States historically ranking embarrassingly low internationally in voter turnout, but that these results are due to lack of voter interest in the political system as a whole rather than lack of opportunity to cast a ballot. Is there a problem, and if we agree there is, what is at its root? Furthermore, what could be done politically to address any such problem? Those U.S. citizens that seek to participate in the election process are in some precincts faced with an inadequate number of poll workers and voting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Melting Pot Ideology In America Many Americans assume that the concept of actually forming the melting pot ideology in America would be easy to obtain, that combining various cultures wouldn t be that much of a challenge. However, an attempt to completely bring this ideology into society can cause problems among the population. With the rising tension between races in America with recent events such as the riots in Ferguson, Missouri, trying to combine cultures could cause an explosion of hate crimes and racism due to the differences between them. The American Melting Potideal, in terms of assimilating different cultures into one culture, would be difficult to achieve. The Melting Pot culture is one where several different cultures come together and adopt other parts into one single society. The problem with people assimilating into any society is that they can lose the uniqueness of their culture. In some cases, people are forced to choose between their own culture and the... When trying to have a mixture of cultures in one society to create its own, you will eventually have to pick and choose what qualities would make sense together rather than every single characteristic trying to work together. Otherwise, there would be contradicting parts of culture trying to make this society work. The misuse of parts of the various cultures is going to be there when trying to combine. April Wilkner, who competed on ANTM, was pointed out as being very uncomfortable with her identity of being a half Japanese and half White person, but the producers and directors of this show were still confusing that identity by adorning her with symbols from a country unconnected to her heritage. • 5. Model And Assumptions Of The Royle Nichols Model Model and Assumptions The Royle Nichols model allows estimation of abundance from multiple observations of present absent animals without specifically marking the animal. This model represents the spatial distribution of the species observed. Several assumptions are made but two of them are fundamental for this model. First one is that the spatial distribution of the animals across survey sites follows Poisson distribution, and second is the probability of detecting an animal at a site is a function of how many animals are actually at that site. The Poisson distribution represents the mechanism of spatial distribution which is simply how many animals occur at each site within the study area. This model assumes that each site is home to a certain number of species and this number does not change overtime, which means no deaths, births, immigration or emigration of the observed species. The Poisson distribution has as the mean parameter О» ( lambda ) which is the mean abundance across the observed sites. The probability density formula of for Poisson distribution is F(x)= (e^ О»)* (О»^x)/ x! Where x is the number of animals at a given site and F(x) is the generic term of any probability distribution. Given this information we can find the probability that a specific number of animals occupy a given site. The graph for this formula takes different shapes. For example, if we calculate this function for О»=3 and x=5 animals, the result is a probability of 0.10. The graph ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Seven Steps to Solving the Housing Crisis The crisis that America has found herself in, to be completely blunt and honest, all revolves around stupidity and bad choices. American citizens that had absolutely no business even thinking of buying a house flooded the market and were encouraged by greedy bankers that were out to make a profit, without thinking of the consequences or morals involved. Now the governmenthas over stepped their boundaries and are spending this country into such deep debt, which makes one think that that light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train with no hope of slowing down, let alone stopping. The solution to this economic crisis is outlined in seven easy baby steps: 1. America needs to create a small emergency fund (at least a million... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Houses would be paid for, jobs would open up, the stock market would probably not shift as much as it does, welfare programs would become obsolete, over 70% of Americans would stop living pay check to pay check, and everyone would retire with dignity. Everyone could get themselves educated, which would make us all winners, and broke people would stop buying houses that they can t afford. If everyone bought houses that they could afford then there would be no more foreclosures; especially if everyone had an emergency fund to give them an alternative if something happened. If businesses weren t built on debt, especially sole proprietorships, then businesses wouldn t have to lay a bunch of people off or cut down productivity. America needs to save to help take care of her people and Americans need to take care of themselves so that we all win in the end. Lastly, America needs to build a bunch of wealth and give a bunch of it away. This concept is for the government and her people because when one gives and it becomes a habit, that person is forever changed. It reminds them that it s not all about them. It s not about getting a bunch of stuff that they can t afford to impress people that they don t even like. It s about taking care of your neighbor; it s about being a selfless person and nation in a selfless world. America needs to invest in herself again, because the best invest one ... • 7. Executive Orders Of The American Presidency Executive Orders in the American PresidencyBy Niraj PatelPOLI 100A Prof. James Ingram By definition, an executive order is a presidential policy directive that implements or interprets a federal statute, a constitutional provision, or a treaty. An executive order can also be categorized under executive directives, and executive proclamation. (1) Though many may think of an executive order as an alternative term for a presidential proclamation , it is not. Presidential proclamations are strictly reserved for public policy and for ceremonial purposes, such as the declaration of a day for remembrance, etc. Executive orders find their roots from not only the U.S. Constitution, but Congress as well. Though it s powers are derived from outside of the executive branch, executive orders do not require any sort of approval whatsoever, and the president can utilize these orders to set up policy and rules while ultimately negating any thought of public opposition. Furthermore, executive orders have the ability to be applied to a wide range of activities and categories, and in the past they have; from implementing internment camps during WWII, sending U.S. troops abroad, to ideals such as increasing the area of national forests. What makes executive orders such a hot topic is that historically, these orders only regulated the internal operational factors of governmental/federal agencies as well as to regulate and oversee public lands, but more recently, has ... • 8. Soviets diplomatic pressure, its military power and... Soviets diplomatic pressure, its military power and political infiltration, are one of the factors that helped establish communism in Eastern Europe after 1945. Right after the fall of Nazi Germany, Europe was still recovering through the shocks of Nazism and fascism, and communism was seen as the right safeguard against the possibility of revival of fascism in the future. The Eastern Europe had a bad reputation with stable democratic governments, and the economic and political situation in the after war years were fertile grounds for the Communist leaders. Countries like Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania were in extreme financial crisis and communist policies would have been attractive to them and help their countries rise from depression; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Almost all of the government regimes in these countries were controlled by communist leaders working remotely from Russia: communication gap between these leaders and the governments of such countries grew wider and wider. The communication gap caused lack of supervision and administration, which resulted in governments not distributing the products and goods to the people fairly. Cold war also proved to be one of the reasons USSR failed to maintain a communist regime in these Eastern European states; they were focused more on competing with USA than looking after the general population. Timely distribution of goods was severely held back by corruption and mismanagement. Most of the general population felt the provisions they were handed were fair and satisfactory, while many others felt completely opposite, and felt that they didn t have enough means to survive after all the hard work and effort that had put in. Communism was merely just an illusion of Joseph Stalin to take over these countries and support his own agenda. While most of the local population suffered, many government officials from communist parties became richer and richer. The imbalance was quiet visible to the general public which now wanted free market society. When demands weren t met, it caused an outrage and civil uprising among the citizens. Strategic Auditing Company Background The iconic brand of Coca Cola dates back to the late 1800 s when a pharmacist from Atlanta created a distinctive soft drink that would take the world by storm. Initially charging five cents per glass out of a soda fountain machine at local convenience stores, Coca Cola started to grow and expand outside of Atlanta. Once they recognized success as a fountain drink, Coca Cola then started the production of bottling the beverage. In first world countries like the United States of America, where they originated, Coca Cola has little need to worry about the risk of political instability. It is when they enter into third world emerging markets the Coca Cola opens themselves up to instability and corruption risks. The risk faced in these less developed countries could result in a loss of investment if problems were to arise. Economic Factors: Being a dominant brand worldwide, it means that Coca Cola products are being bought and sold using many different types of currency. Because of this, Coca Cola is face with foreign exchange risk. Recently, many economies in Europe have been struggling and currencies have become unstable. This is an economic risk faced by Coca Cola due to their global expansion. Social Factor: One of the major external factors that influence the success and decisions made by Coca Cola is the sociocultural trend towards healthy alternatives. Because the original Coca Cola was high in sugar and caffeine, which is unappealing to the current health trend, Coca Cola needed to adjust products or their success would be a thing of the past. Environmental: Just like that change to a healthier life style, the current societal norms take into consideration the environmental impact of large corporations. Coca Cola uses a large quantity of water in the production process and has been criticized by their environmental stakeholders. This has caused Coca Cola to find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Analysis Of The Poem Sax Impey Sax Impey is a Cornish artist, who works out of the Porthmeor studios overlooking the beach, St Ives. Born in Penzance and trained in Newport, Wales where he studied . The majority of his work is inspired by the sea. Continuing the tradition set in motion by Ben Nicholson, Patrick Heron and other recognized Cornish artists. Alongside Francis Bacon as well. His work is drawn from his own first hand experiences with the ocean and its relentless energy and overwhelming power and its seeming endlessness. Growing up in Penzance Impey was always exposed to views out to sea but a lot of the workis actually inspired by navigating around the world s oceans during his career delivering yachts around the world for TV yacht delivery, travelling thousands of nautical miles. The particular work of his I have been studying is from his exhibition Storm from 2011 at the Millennium Gallery, St.Ives. His work is technically very impressive with his skill of semi photographic representation and carefully calculated compositions. What am I doing here? You idiot . Interestingly it never before occurred to Impey to make work about the sea. Despite being surrounded by it his entire life. It wasn t until he was completely immersed by it that he became captivated and inspired to respond to his experience. Particularly this work Storm which was inspired by a real life near death experience of being isolated out at sea in unpredictably strong winds whilst attempting to sail from Ireland through ... • 12. The Struggle Of Women s Participation If you are reading this, quite possibly as a woman, your rights may not be what the women who went before you fought so hard to achieve. As I write to tell you the areas of achievement, please understand that cultural drift sometimes took a long time to come about given our patriarchal society with values of tradition, order and obedience. Until the end of the 19th century almost all women would not have thought about challenging societal norms. You will see that newer values develop in women around freedom, independence and ambition to have an equal say about their world and their bodies. Some fights would be won and others are still in progress; these are all very important history lessons that will help you learn how women became able to participate fully in society, no longer a man s world without women s participation. I will explain just a few of the courageous women and their tactics and strategies for achieving an egalitarian society where women have equal opportunities in the realm of voting rights, education, work and birth control. No fight is won alone, each woman was joined by others who helped including some open minded men. Women were given the right to vote in 1920 when the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was passed. This was the end to a long battle that lasted over 70 years. Two brave women Elizabeth Cady Stantonand Lucrecia Mott, both longtime abolitionists, organized the first meeting in 1848 to discuss women s issues in New York. At first these ... • 14. Definition Of A Bad Person Analysis The Definition of a Bad Person The only people who care about privacy, the only people who will seek out privacy, are by definition bad people is a quote by Glenn Greenwald explaining his view on privacy. His view is that people that want privacy have something to hide and, therefore, are deemed to be a bad person. My view, on the other hand, is a complete opposite one of Mr. Greenwald. I feel that most people want privacyin order to get that safe feeling in their mind and make them feel better as they know that whatever they are doing will not and cannot escape to the public. Maybe they don t want others to judge them, after all, isn t that what the world is mostly made up of today? Different people have different styles, but there are people who have social media and post things because they want to be judged while others refrain and sit back. Even though their style is different, people without social media probably still have good things to share but simply would rather not share it, thus wanting privacy. Does that make them a bad person? In Glenn Greenwald s eyes I guess so, but in mine, no.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Monroe would have to work seven days a week to maintain the production pace; however, he felt that he could handle a seven day schedule for two to three years. Although the first canoes were scheduled to take almost 12 days to build, manufacturing time would gradually decrease. Monroe knew that he would have to invest in some equipment which would include an estimated $5,530 for power equipment and accessories; hand tools at $835; cutters, blades and bits at $800; benches, stands and cabinets for $1,600; forms and jigs for $160; and office equipment for $3,055. Monroe projected that variable costs would total $1,161 per canoe[2] and annual operating expenses would total $8,644[3]. The market for canoes followed the business cycle. In recessions, canoe sales suffered as many prospective customers stopped recreational spending. Sales of premium priced canoes were especially vulnerable. The statistics showed that many companies were unable to survive the recent recession that began in 2008; however, industry sales had been strong and improving over the past year or so. Around 1697, a child friendly version of Cinderellawas created by Charles Perrault who had a major impact on modern history in France (Encyclopedia Americana, 2006). Charles Perrault was a french poet, prose writer, and storyteller in the mid to late 17th century. He was born in Paris on January 12th, 1628 and lived until 1703, passing away in Paris on May 16th (Encyclopedia Americana, 2006). It is better to have intelligence, courage, common sense, and kindness than beauty. Cinderella was beautiful, and was even more beautiful because she had those other qualities as well (Encyclopedia Americana, 2006). A review on the classic story of Cinderella shares that Charles Perrault is credited with the best known version. In the french version, the shoe was made of vair, but the word for glass in french is verre. Both words are pronounced the same and that is how Perrault made the switch to the glass slipper. Disney chose Perrault s version of Cinderella most likely because it was not as gruesome as the Brother s Grimm version (Review, 2011). In another review, Charles Perrault is known not only for solidifying fairy tales as a literary genre, but also wrote nearly all of the signature stories of this genre. All the stories mentioned earlier in the Tales of Mother Goose spread through levels of modern art and entertainment. In Perrault s time, children s literature wasn t a thing and that is why the morals of his stories take on more worldly issues while still having childlike fantasies (Review, ... Comparing Schiele s Reclining Woman And Liepke A study of Egon Schiele s drawing, Reclining woman (1916) and Malcolm Liepke s painting, Eternal and Close cropped blonde present women as respected figures. Despite portrayed as erotic and sexual, the artworks of both artists have highlighted sexuality and cultural symbolism in their corresponding contexts. Whilst Schiele s sensitive drawings are graphic and provocative, frequently modeling nude women, the embrace of physical distortion highlights his genuine obsessiveness and adoration of women in contextual society. In contrast, Liepke s paintings reflect women caught up in intimate moments highlighting themes of femininity, cultural symbolism and topics of ideologies from a postmodern perspective. Heavily influenced by conceptual styles of Edgar Degas and John Singer Sargent, Liepke takes on the perspective of a flaneur, observing contemporary life whilst hoping to reveal the personalities and intimacies of his sitters. This sense of intimacy is expressed in Eternal, where a voyeuristic nude is captured through a realistic lens over a pornographic one that is alluring and honest despite bare appearance. Representing the female subject as someone to be liberated, Liepke manipulates stylistic poses for the nude model as she is rolled up like that of a child in a fetal position upon a dark and thick surface creating a contrast, suggesting protection and vulnerability being exposed. This mirrors the dominating psychological reactions of female citizens being restricted and grounded in traditions of submissiveness and limited freedom in response to corrupt post modern expectations. Liepke reinvestigates the cultural representation of female roles in using vector lines that separate the background into three sections. Of which the stray brushwork in the gold, yellow ochre wall conveys a freedom of mind and casualness encapsulating majority of the figure yet not entirely. • 37. Abortion Should Not Be Illegal Essay Abortion is widely debated across the world and in 1973 Roe v. Wade would start an issue with ethical and legal issues. There are multiple cases arguing why it should or shouldn t be lawful to go through with this procedure. Women should have the right to get an abortion as It is her rights to decide if they aren t able to be able have a child, the woman shouldn t have to rely on anyone else, she should be able to make this decision as they have to carry it for 9 months and endure the physical pain. Abortion should not be illegal because it is justifiable in cases of rape, or when the woman has mental health or financial issues. In the case of rape, it is unjustifiable to say that a woman has to carry a baby when she is forced into intercourse with a man who the woman does not please. For those who say that abortion is so inhumane, why doesn t one simply look at the act of rape as disgusting as someone would look at abortion. The victim is going through enough being forced without choice to have a child if she consumes, so why make her carry the baby for 9 months knowing that the perpetrator has given her this child. I don t think that the women should have to be mentally viable for this child or have to take care of a child that is forced upon her own will. Having a child hurts very much, why put a victim of rape through more pain then she has to endure? Abortion isn t illegal in other countries for more serious issues why should America make it illegal? Someone with mental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter is a prime example of Symbolism being used creatively in a work. This is what Hyatt H. Waggoner has to say about the Hawthornes creativity. But in between the surface and the depths movement is constant and complex, and it is in this middle that the principal value of the work lies. (Waggoner 73)What Waggoner is talking about is the Symbolism that is used by Hawthorne. Hawthorne s symbolism is complex and creative. When symbolism is used there must always be symbols. Symbols can take many forms and three of these forms are, places, things, and people. Hawthorne uses these forms of symbols in his novel. The three symbols I will highlight are; the scaffold, the scarlet letterand Reverend Dimmesdale. To give background, The Scarlet Letter takes place in colonial Boston where the separation of church and state is not yet in place. • 39. Relevant Legal Case Study Relevant Legal Issues Consent and Guardianship In order for Megan to have valid consent, four elements must be considered. Firstly, it must be voluntary, meaning consent must be given freely without persuasion or threatening influence (Forrester Griffiths, 2010). Consent is only valid for the procedure that Megan has consented too. No other procedures may be carried out (Sheilds, 2010). Megan must be informed of the material and significant risks associated with the treatment for consent to be valid (Sheilds, 2010). Lastly the patient must have legal capacity, that is; having the ability to understand what they are giving consent for, and be of legal age (18) (Sheilds, 2010). Due to the fact that Megan is 17, she is legally classified as a young person Guardianship and Administration Act 1986 (Vic)(page 140 141), this means that her legal guardians (her parents) may provide consent on her behalf due to fact she is a minor, however exceptions to the rule enable Megan to provide consent in the circumstances that she is deemed competent (Sheilds, 2010). This can be achieved by a Gillick competency test in which will apply an assessment an individual young person s level of maturity and understanding in relation to the treatment proposed (New South Wales Law Reform Commission, 2004). For the female, the rates of unemployment were 7.8 percent and 5.8 percent in 1999 2000 and 2010 respectively, whereas those were 3.4 percent and 4.1 percent for male for the corresponding years. Alternative energy sources can be a sufficient replacement for fossil fuel because some forms of alternative energy are recyclable and may be safer for the environment. For example, wind energy does not cause any types of pollutants that can damage the health of people all over the world. Wind Energy may be created by machines called wind turbines, that look like plane propellers on a long and steep pole. The blowing winds are able to turn its propellers to provide energy for an electric generator that distributes electric currents.
