The document discusses the results of a questionnaire about music preferences. It found that most respondents were ages 15-19, and that pop music was the most popular genre. YouTube was identified as the most popular platform for viewing music videos. The questionnaire included equal numbers of male and female respondents to get a balanced perspective, as both genders enjoy pop music.
2. AGE
• As you can see the pie-chart indicated that the age group
was mainly from 15-19 who took part in the
questionnaire. However there is also a small percentage
of people who were from the age group of 20-29 and 30+.
• The reason why we asked so many young people was
because the younger audience tend to be followers of
music, which is considered a stereotype.
• It worked out well that we focused our questionnaire on
this age group, as our target audience was aimed at
people of the ages 15-19.
3. Music platforms
• Choosing what platform we would upload our music
video on does matter, from the results it became clear
which we should use.
• It is vital to compare the media platform in the
distribution of music videos, as this is the way the video is
viewed, we wanted to upload the video onto the most
popular platform, increasing the profitability of the
media products.
• After comparing the results it was obvious YouTube was
the most popular, with the most votes. Although I did
notice that other media platforms such as new platform
Vimeo has a ever evolving fan base, this is different to
other platform as you can upload professional short films
as well as music videos.
4. • In order to see exactly how many people liked pop
music the most, fortunately a large percentage of
our audience did prefer pop music, with over 23
people saying pop was their favourite.
• Although R&B was closely followed, we were
happy to continue with using a song of the pop
genre, sometimes R&B music can often be similar
to pop music, many pop artist now feature R&B
artists in their songs, as a catchy pop song can
work well with a verse of R&B, this is what the
audience is now looking for.
• Picking a genre that our target audience liked was
vital, if our target audience didn’t like the song
they would be put off viewing the music video.
GENRE OF MUSIC
5. GENDER• Looking at the pie chart you can see that we
choose to ask 15 females and 15 boys, this was to
get the most fair and most deserves feedback.
• Both genders connect well with the video making
easily accessible and engaging our pop target
audience.
• As the pop genre is usually preferred by girls
because of the type of pop artists around such as
Beyoncé or bands like One Direction who appeal
to females, we had to ensure our video also
appealed to the males who enjoyed pop music, in
order to do this we decided to use an attractive
young female who the boys would enjoy looking
at.
