The health care act is difficult to navigate and nonprofits were written into the act under the auspices of small businesses, making it even more confusing to understand. Gain insights from experts about the intent of the act and the act in its current draft, how it will impact nonprofits as small businesses, the impact on staff, those we serve, and on society at large. Additionally, portions of the act are still being debated and amended; learn of the potential changes and points where the nonprofit sector can influence the outcome.

Medication Compliance and Diabetes Outcomes: Is There a CorrelationDr. Susan Dorfman
The basis of this paper draws on the theory of health production functions and the
hypothesis that each person has control over his or her health outcomes through various
healthcare behavior choices. More specifically, the assumptions in paper were that the outcomes
(output) of diabetes care are determined by a person’s compliance (input) to his or her medication
regiment. One key factor of compliance, as shown in the studies presented herein, are the costs
associated with compliance – primarily the cash payments (co-pays) that patients must pay for
every prescription. Of particular interest is the understanding of the health outputs provided in
the studies presented herein relate to the patient health input, which in this case is noncompliance
due to co-pay, and if and how they can be associated and applied to the production
function.

This paper presents a marketing plan for Continuum health partners. Continuum health partners is an organization based in the metropolitan area of New York US. The main aim of the organization is to coordinate the operations of its members to keep the organization financially solvent by controlling costs in the highly competitive industry (Pronk et al., 2015). The plan outlines various goals and objectives which will help the organization succeed. Goals are used as a road map for the organization to achieve its vision. The plan also presents a market analysis for the healthcare industry.
The plan also presents an environmental analysis of political and social issues affecting the organization. Politics and policy issues affect the healthcare industry in a big way. For instance, the Affordable Healthcare Act has been used in the US for a while. However, the new incumbent government has promised that they will replace this Act. Social and cultural factors significantly affect the quality of healthcare for a community. Most people in the US are educated and this helps them to understand the importance of staying healthy. The paper also presents a consumer analysis of the healthcare sector.
Various strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats facing the organization are also discussed in details. One of the main strengths of the organization is its geographical location which ensures that consumers can easily access health care services within the city. Finally, the paper explores ...

Bola Odusola-Stephen
Investigator's Background
The primary investigator is a registered nurse with 18 plus years experience in home healthcare. Also have experience in dealing with Type II diabetic patients and medication adherence issues.
Investigator works as a registered nurse in the home healthcare setting.
3
Topic Background
The topic on medication adherence among diabetic home healthcare patients using the MAP resources was chosen because there is a continue steady rise in chronic diseases that has resulted in more patient care options (Polonsky & Henry, 2016).
Home-based healthcare has existed since 1909 (Choi et al., 2019). Present-day, home-based healthcare is often selected due to an individual’s personal preferences.
While home-based healthcare is not appropriate for all patients, Szanton et al. (2016) noted that this care option is best when an individual’s condition can be managed without admission to a hospital.

Problem Statement
It is not known if or to what degree the implementation of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Medication Adherence Project (MAP) resources impact patient medication adherence rates when compared to current practice among Type II diabetic home healthcare patients in urban Texas.
According to the healthcare agency’s electronic health record (EHR), home healthcare providers documented that ten percent of diabetic home healthcare patients are not adhering to their medication regimen.
Medication non-adherence can be ascribed to a lack of drug-related knowledge, high prescription prices, and a lack of understanding of the medication regimen. This is why reinforcing the need for this quality improvement project (Heath, 201 ...

Provider Based Patient Engagement - An Essential Strategy for Population HealthPhytel
As the healthcare industry starts to re-engineer care delivery to accommodate new reimbursement models, providers on the front lines of change recognize the need for population health management and for increasing patients’ engagement in their own care. These two approaches are inextricably bound together, because it is impossible to manage the health of a population without getting patients more involved in self-management and the modification of their own risk factors. This paper discusses the fundamentals of patient engagement and shows how automation tools and web-based care management can facilitate this key process.

Lung Cancer: Artificial Intelligence, Synergetics, Complex System Analysis, S...Oleg Kshivets
RESULTS: Overall life span (LS) was 2252.1±1742.5 days and cumulative 5-year survival (5YS) reached 73.2%, 10 years – 64.8%, 20 years – 42.5%. 513 LCP lived more than 5 years (LS=3124.6±1525.6 days), 148 LCP – more than 10 years (LS=5054.4±1504.1 days).199 LCP died because of LC (LS=562.7±374.5 days). 5YS of LCP after bi/lobectomies was significantly superior in comparison with LCP after pneumonectomies (78.1% vs.63.7%, P=0.00001 by log-rank test). AT significantly improved 5YS (66.3% vs. 34.8%) (P=0.00000 by log-rank test) only for LCP with N1-2. Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: phase transition (PT) early-invasive LC in terms of synergetics, PT N0—N12, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells- CC and blood cells subpopulations), G1-3, histology, glucose, AT, blood cell circuit, prothrombin index, heparin tolerance, recalcification time (P=0.000-0.038). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and PT early-invasive LC (rank=1), PT N0—N12 (rank=2), thrombocytes/CC (3), erythrocytes/CC (4), eosinophils/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), segmented neutrophils/CC (8), stick neutrophils/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10); leucocytes/CC (11). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (area under ROC curve=1.0; error=0.0).
CONCLUSIONS: 5YS of LCP after radical procedures significantly depended on: 1) PT early-invasive cancer; 2) PT N0--N12; 3) cell ratio factors; 4) blood cell circuit; 5) biochemical factors; 6) hemostasis system; 7) AT; 8) LC characteristics; 9) LC cell dynamics; 10) surgery type: lobectomy/pneumonectomy; 11) anthropometric data. Optimal diagnosis and treatment strategies for LC are: 1) screening and early detection of LC; 2) availability of experienced thoracic surgeons because of complexity of radical procedures; 3) aggressive en block surgery and adequate lymph node dissection for completeness; 4) precise prediction; 5) adjuvant chemoimmunoradiotherapy for LCP with unfavorable prognosis.

workplace injuries and workers’ compensation,
serves as the medical director for Concentra

position, Dr. Ronald H. Kienitz, DO, helps
employers implement workplace programs to
reduce injuries and increase employee wellness.
According to a recent study published in the
Journal of Occupational and Environmental
Medicine, there are a number of health
conditions that employers can target with disease
management programs in order to reduce health
care costs.
3. A study at the University of Minnesota followed employees
and dependents who participated in a disease
management program and analyzed and compared the
financial impact of different methods used in treating
several costly, chronic conditions.
Over the course of six years, the study of the University of
Minnesota program yielded significant results, which,
when implemented, dramatically reduced health care
spending for patients with conditions such as
cardiovascular disease, asthma, low back pain, and
congestive heart failure. The disease management
program did not, however, reduce costs or absenteeism
for patients with arthritis, diabetes, or osteoporosis. Based
on the results, the researchers concluded that employers
should implement disease management programs that
target conditions that can produce health care savings.
