CVS Caremark established 1963, has been expanding every year since their inception. With over
7,000 retail locations they face many human resources challenges. It essential for CVS to understand
what HR challenges they face to make informed decisions; beneficial to the company stakeholders

Her initiatives for CVS is to enhance compensation practices, restructure human resources processing
functions, and successfully managing all human resources support for the retail businesses. The type
of information needed to make solid informed decisions about human resources for CVS is many.
These decisions would have to be well executed and organized to positively affect the companies'
mission, values and profits. There are many decisions for HR in a company to remember and CVS is
no exception. Human Resources Management is a comprehensive set of management activities and
task concerned with developing and maintaining a qualified workforce that contribute to
organizational effectiveness. (Denisi & Griffin, 2012) CVS would need information to comply with
legal and social obligations, enhancing productivity and quality, promoting individual growth and
facilitating organizational effectiveness.
For CVS's legal concern, not only do they have to follow federal and state guideline for employees,
they have to follow federal guidelines for pharmaceuticals, legal requirements for their nurses,
doctors and pharmacist. In addition CVS is expanding into global markets, and that opens them up to
foreign legal requirements. Socially, CVS Caremark has a long–standing track record of sound

Presentation Analysis Essay examples
This memo examines the strengths and weaknesses of my presentation on March 19, 2010. In
addition, the memo discusses my goals for improvement in future presentations as well as a review
of Aly Sherali's presentation.
Presentation Strengths
My organization, voice, and passion were all strong points of my presentation. This allowed me to
effectively engage my audience and convey my content in an efficient and logical way.
Organization
Tim Koegel, author of The Exceptional Presenter, explains that there are two essential facets of
organizing a presentation: developing a structure that allows you to frame your objective and cover

Even if a presenter is the leading authority on a topic, being unprepared can signal the opposite to
the audience and cause them to disengage before the presentation even starts (Koegel, 45). I arrived
to the venue early, made sure my presentation was easily accessible, and checked to see if my slides
worked correctly on the computer. This allowed me to efficiently and confidently lead off my
presentation and ensure that I could capture the audience's attention.
Voice
The voice is a valuable tool to becoming an exceptional presenter (Koegel, 84). I used my voice as an
effective asset throughout my presentation. My volume was at an effective level throughout the
presentation and sounded confident. I also employed inflection in my voice on key points to
maintain audience attention. According to studies, eighty–four percent of the impact you have
comes from your voice, not your words. I was very careful to avoid monotone voice, which
significantly shortens the attention span of an audience (Koegel, 84). I also took great care to
eliminate any "verbal graffiti" as Koegel refers to it. Verbal graffiti is any non–essential "filler"
words that distract the audience and dilute your impact (Koegel, 87). I practiced my presentation
many times and was confident enough with the material that I did not fill my pauses with any filler

Organizational structure provides the framework of an organization determining how roles and
responsibilities are delegated throughout the different levels of the organization. It has been defined
by some as the looking glass through which coworkers see their organization and its surrounding
environment while others have described structure as the backbone of the organization. In this memo,
I will briefly discuss the importance of organizational structure, give examples of some major
organizational structures, and provide factors influencing the choice of organizational structure.

For organizations which produce standardized goods and services, a functional service is beneficial.
Within this structure, employees perform very specialized tasks (Naoum, 2001). For example, an
engineering department would be staffed with only software engineers. Divisional structures, also
known as product structures, groups each function into a division. Automobile industries typically
use this divisional structure. Within this industry, divisions may include: SUVs, subcompact cars,
and sedans. Although not discussed in detail in this memo, other organizational structures include:
organizational circle, team, network, lattice, and virtual ("Organizational Structure", 2013).
Factors influencing the choice of Organizational Structure
The following factors can affect the type of structure which an organization may use: strategy,
characteristics, management, operation, and environment. Strategy is the most important factor
influencing type of structure. According to Phillips and Gulley in their book Organizational
Behavior: Tools for Success, higher performance will be achieved if structure and strategy are

Introduction
The relationship between capital structure and firm value has been discussed frequently in the
literature by different researcher accordingly, in both theoretical and empirical studies. It has also
been discussed that whether the firm has any optimal capital structure that has been adopted by an
individual firm, or whether the proportions of debt usage is completely irrelevant to the individual
firm value.
A firm can choose a mix of three modes of financing i.e. issuing shares, borrowing from the market

Limited research work exists on this area, like Booth et al (2001) studied 10 developing countries
including Pakistan. However, this study was confined only to top 100 index companies. Second
study by Shah and Hijazi (2004) was an improvement on the first one as it included all non–financial
firms listed on KSE for the period 1997–2001. However, the second study too was basic in nature in
terms of its use of pooled regression model avoiding the fixed effects and random effects models.
The purpose of this study is to extend the work of Shah and Hijazi (2004) by extending the sample
period i.e 2001–2006 and including more firms in sample as convenient random selection of
samples, using relevant models of panel data and using more explanatory variables.
This study will further lead to the dynamics of KSE listed firms. Investor trends towards highly
leveraged firms and determination whether the optimum capital structure effects the decision of
investor resulting change in the balance sheet of a company.
Objective of the Study
The objective of this study is to check whether the changes in structure of capital has impact on the
overall value of the firms, and specifically in leverage ratio of firms listed in Karachi Stock
Exchange (KSE).

Toyota expressed conduct guidelines and expression of values for all the employees of Toyota.
These guidelines were based on the principles of Challenge, Improvement, Respect, and Teamwork.

maker for the year 2008 and assumed the titled of the most profitable automobile maker along with

Jailhouse Rock Analysis
Elvis Presley's "Jailhouse Rock" begins with a short six second intro consisting of a heavy snare
beat and guitar. This short section differs in perceived tempo from the rest of the song. At 0:06,
Presley's voice comes in, beginning the first verse and dramatically increasing the groove of the
song. At the chorus, the guitar plays a repeated series of notes, increasing the song's groove even
more. A piano also plays somewhat freely, adding a jazzy/relaxed/fun aspect to the song.

sounds like two saxophones. In the parts of the song where Little Richard vocalizes a drum beat like

songs. This song also seems to be structured as a 12–bar style song with an AAB pattern in the
verses. Little Richard also sings very scruffily, almost as if his own voice were distorted (although
this could be my headphones or the recording), and he frequently makes non–word noises, such as
the drum noises as discussed before, or high pitched "whoops." The bridge is marked by a slightly
different drum beat and a "whoop" and consists of an upbeat saxophone solo. The rest of the song
repeats the beginning parts, but with different words. Lyrically, the song, like the others, is light and
fun, about Little Richard's many women. It is worth mentioning that the term "Tutti Frutti" was

Structuralism is a mode of thinking and a method of analysis practiced in 20th–century social

2. Literature Review: Capital structure is termed as an important area in financial decision making.
It has relationship with other variables of financial decisions. Capital structure is composed of debt
and equity capital that is used by the organizations to run its operations. The debate on capital

According to Abor (2005) ratio of short–term debt has a positive relation with total assets & return
on equity and the ratio of long–term debt has a negative relationship with total assets and return on
equity. As per the relationship between total debt and return rates, he is of the view that the ratio of
total debt has positive relationship with total assets and return on equity. Has further argued their
findings and stated that as there is a low interest rate on short–term debt, therefore, it results in more
profitability. On the other end, long–term debts are relatively more expensive than short–term, hence
consuming more proportions of long–term debt may cause low profitability. In case of the said
findings based on the firms registered at Ghana Stock Exchange, a high proportion (85%) of the debt

Analysis of a Dance Essay
The dance that I will be focusing on is entitled: thinking sensing standing feeling object of attention.
The dance, to me, symbolizes the socialization of persons in Western civilization concerning gender
roles. In the beginning there are gestures that are separated from emotion and full–embodiment, but
as the dance progresses the gestures become more meaningful and recognizable. The lighting starts
out very specific and narrow, then the light encompasses the entire stage, and eventually the dancers
are silhouetted as they return to a familiar movement motif in the end. The music is mainly
instrumental with occasional soft female vocals, and the lyrics suggest emotion, which is interesting

The female dancer re–enters the stage sans the blue shirt/shorts and repeats the gestures with a bit
more feeling, and the male does the same thing after the female exits. The next time the female
enters the stage, she is only in the colorful bra and black briefs. The male enters the stage in a black
bra and colorful underwear. The color in the costumes sends a message of the differences between
males and females, but the black undergarments lean towards blurring the lines of gender. The lights
get brighter as clothing is shed. The two performers fully embody the gestures now, and seem to
have more of an intimate connection with one another. The music constantly seems to be an
underscore of the dance, but does not add much to it. The dancers share weigh and partner with more
sensuality, and eventually are silhouetted with blue light as they return to gesture and awkward
ballroom partnering. The lights fade as they continue to move.
The movement is, above all else, gestural. The gestures start out as being removed from meaning
and feeling, but eventually become more sensual and fulfilled. The gestures are also what could be
considered taboo. Both dancers grab their breasts, groin, and thrust their lower bodies repeatedly
throughout the piece. As the dance progresses, the movement goes from being placed and calculated

The discussions broke the team members into two distinct groups. The debate that was held
about the two candidates revolved main around the values that each member held to be more
desirable; friendliness and experience versus reliability and knowledge. The first group argued
that the friendlier candidate would be a better fit for the position mainly because the members of
that group tended to be more heavily involved in people oriented side of the organization, while
the other group and the other candidate were more versed in the technical side of the organization.
However, rather than this group meeting basing its agenda on the discussion of the values of the
candidates, it was a series of comparison arguments in which each side attempted to argue why the
other candidate would not do well in the open position. Both groups turned away from the civility
required for such a group discussion to be rational and productive, and instead adopted a hostile
approach. Group member cohesiveness was absent from the group meeting for several reasons, but
the primary reasons were due to the fact that the group members did not have a common description
of value or structure to the discussion. Each member viewed their own area of involvement within
the organization as being more valuable than any other area, and it was this exclusion of other
