How Does Paton Use Metaphors In Cry The Beloved Country
In 1948, apartheid was enacted by the all white national party in South Africa. The purpose was to
separate whites from non whites, and to decrease the power and success of non whites. In the 20th
century novel Cry, The Beloved Country by Alan Paton, he uses metaphors to emphasize how the
suffering of tribal people have both positive and negative consequences on their moral character. Their
development of morality can create or mend a division in society. Possessing a strong moral
foundation provides the ability to face personal challenges. Cry, The Beloved Country chronicles the
emotional journey Stephen Kumalo takes to cope with the sin he faces, internally and externally. The
trial of his son, Absalom, for the murder of Arthur Jarvis, poses as a spiritual trial for Kumalo himself.
Paton uses anaphora in Kumalo s thoughts to reiterate how hard it is for him to speak when he sees his
son, Yes, indeed I shall tell her. Yes, indeed, I shall take her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Absalom falls victim to temptation in Johannesburg, and turns to criminal ways. John reveals his
apathy towards the chief, and describes how his loyalties lie with Johannesburg: It is breaking apart,
your tribal society. It is here in Johannesburg that the new society is being built (67). John manipulates
people in Johannesburg, and stirs up the crowds to cause unrest simply because he craves attention.
He goes so far as to abandon his people. Absalom represents Kumalo s fear of misguidance and
insufficiency, which causes Kumalo to feel guilt and responsibility over the sentence his son receives.
John represents Kumalo s fear of blasphemy, corruption, and selfishness, as John abandons all of his
morals in order to have power in Johannesburg. Kumalo separates himself from his brother and son to
remain an honorable

Monologue From The Great Gatsby
As I entered the fourth circle of hell the air around me shimmered, like I walked through an invisible
wall. Suddenly the world around me changed. I was in a large city filled with tall skyscrapers, cars and
people that walked hurriedly everywhere. I came across Fagin The Jew the old man who used Oliver
Twist and his friends to steal from people to feed his greed. Approaching Fagin, I asked him what he
sin was. He explained that all my life I used others to get what I wanted, I did not think to care of the
consequences I just wanted as much treasures as I could get. Fagin then explained to me what his
punishment was, he had to relive the same day repeatedly. The day would begin with him waking up
having everything in the world he could ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The young man who lived his life constantly trying to build his wealth no matter what the costs. I
decided to stop Gatsby to see if it was true, that greed was the reason he was here. Gatsby said to me
throughout my whole life all I did was try to fill the void in my heart, and the best way I thought to
doing that was to get as much money and possessions as possible . It was true, Gatsby was here
because of his greed. Even he himself new that. But it never stopped him from continuously falling
victim to it. Gatsby tells me that he wakes up every day in one of the most comfortable and soft beds
he has ever felt. In an extravagant hotel, with food covering every surface in the room. But as soon as
he leaves his bed, or touches the food, it disappears in his fingertips. He is surrounded by fancy
clothes, furniture, and gold jewellery but throughout the day everything he touched vanishes. He told
me he tries with all his will power, not to touch anything but his greed gets the better of him, he
cannot help himself. He must have everything. I have to relive my nightmare every day, without a way
of waking up Jay said to me with utter sorrow in his voice. And just like Fagin, at the end of the day
he is left standing on his own with nothing to his name other than the clothes on his

Analysis Of Polymeric Counter Electrode
Abstract In this communications, PEDOT: PPS electrode is employed as a counter electrode in a dye
sensitized solar cell for low cost photosensor applications. TiO2 nanomaterial is used as photoanode.
The structure of the PEDOT: PPS film was investigated by atomic force microscope. This DSSC
behaves like Schottky diode at the dark condition. The photovoltaic behavior was studied in the light
intensity range 5 130 mW/cm 2. This cell has a stable fill factor of about 0.5 for all the studied
illumination intensity range. The linear photo response of the current suggests that new designed
DSSC with the polymeric counter electrode is a promising device for the low cost photosensor. The
cell shows capacitance inversion from positive to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, it has hole transporting characteristics and shows good conductivities of up to 1000 S/cm
[10,11]. Emanuela Tamburri et al. [12] could determine the best experimental conditions to enhance
the redox performance of PEDOT: PSS films as the counter electrode in the DSSC. Sung Yeon Heo et
al. [13] demonstrated that 3D PEDOT: PSS films could be an as efficient Pt free catalyst in DSSC.
Capacitance voltage (C V) characterization is a non destructive technique which determines the charge
distribution and identifies the presence of interface states in semiconductors when the applied biasing
voltage participates in the carrier capture and emission at interface traps [14,15]. Such traps are
charged leading to the production of a dipole layer at the interface. Small modulation in the AC bias
will change the barrier height, and the position of the Fermi level will shift relative to its equilibrium
position. Thus, the characteristics of the device will be changed [15,16]. In our study, a nanocrystalline
PEDOT: PSS polymeric counter electrode was used instead of the Pt counter electrode to reduce the
cost of the DSSC. We present a detailed study of the photovoltaic response as current voltage (I V)
and C V characterization of the DSSC based on PEDOT: PSS. The conduction mechanism and the
negative capacitance of the studied cell are analyzed in

Dr. Ellert And Stan, The Adhs Trauma Stakeholder Workgroup...
Dr. Ellert and Stan, The ADHS trauma stakeholder workgroup held its December meeting last week
and I attended along with Dr. O Neil. My notes are below. Please let me know if you see anything that
raises issues. I think we continue to be okay but I have highlighted three issues where I d like your
attention. Here is a link to the most recent CME Requirement The consensus is the trauma medical
director s CME should be external to the facility. As I understood the conversation, a doctor can
receive CME credit for teaching CME. Is that correct? PJ said this shouldn t be a problem. I believe
this would still allow a trauma medical director to take CME at the facility, just not receive CME
credit for teaching CME. Pediatric Age The rules say a Pediatric Level I or II is for patients under the
age of 18. Does this create a problem for us? I don t see anything that would prohibit us for treating
someone younger, like a 17 year old. Trauma Registry The group went back and forth on Registry
FTEs. The comment that resonated the most is that not all trauma volumes are the same, that 1,400
annual visits could be done by one or three FTEs, depending on the complexity of the cases. ADHS is
going to draft alternative language that gives flexibility, something along the lines of sufficient
resources to comply with ADHS requirements. Research There was no discussion to change the
research requirement, per se. There was comment to define participates in research

Gustave Courbet Gleaners
A Formal Analysis of Gustave Courbet s Burial at Ornans and Jean François Millet s Gleaners
The realism era came about during the time of the Romantics, the time where imagination and
ideology painted the artists canvas. To be a realist meant that an artist would paint what he actually
saw and not an idea of something. For instance, if an artist were to paint a depiction of war, then all
the gruesome details would probably be considered in the piece of art. The artist that essentially paved
the way out of Romanticism and into the era of Realism was Gustave Courbet considered by some to
be the first realist. He dismissed academic painting and insisted that Realist painting was only what
one could actually see. His most famous statement is I have never seen an angel. Show me an angel,
and I ll paint one.

Millet used an oil medium and centered the subject matter on canvas with dimensions measuring at
around thirty three inches in height and forty four inches in width. This piece appears to be
photorealistic because in the center of the work, the three peasant workers come across in an almost
life like representation of a mundane task. The Gleaners is an excellent depiction of the daily struggles
of the of the lower income class. Paul de Saint Victor, an essayist and literary critic of the time
bestowed on this work of art to be The three Fates of pauperism. Millet used the appearance of a
sunset and his use of color seems to illuminate on these women as they work. The color and the fact
that Millet placed the three women so much in the foreground placed emphasis on the work and the
strength that they carry. This painting was displayed in the Salon in 1857 and has had exposure all
over the world. Currently The Gleaners is on conservation at the Musée d Orsay in Paris,

Differences Between Animal Farm And The Truman Show
Living a good life and trying to pursue the unattainable utopian society takes power, but not everyone
has the power to make these things reality. The good life and the utopian society will stay elusive
unless one has the ambition to want to thrive and fight for power and control over their own life. The
Truman Show, directed by Peter Weir, conveys the idea that everyone has a different perspective as to
what the good life and utopia is so, in order to obtain it, Truman must fight for the power and freedom
to control his own life. Likewise, in Animal Farm, George Orwell explores how the animals believe
that to be able to obtain the unreachable utopian society and good life they must first have power and
control over their own lives. To do so they must get rid of Mr Jones, but they soon grow to realise that
even once you have power and control, too much power can easily be abused.
A good life is a term for the life that one would like to live. It s a life in which one has the freedom to
self direct their own life. Truman has the perfect wife, the perfect house, perfect job and perfect
friends but does that really matter if he doesn t have freedom? In The Truman Show, Weir expresses
that without freedom the good life is unattainable, one can never truly be happy and content with their
life unless they have freedom. We see this most clearly when Truman is so determined to Thrive in life
and escape from the dome that the good life Christof has endowed for him doesn t matter.

analysis of the data revealed predominantly negative imagery when discussing autism and as a results,
this negative representation of autism indeed affects the perception that the society holds. The research
investigated the language used and topics discussed when mentioning autism. The results showed that
more than 25 terms were negative when describing the situations the people with autism and the
people that surrounds them experience. The examples include the words such as struggle, burden,
problem, mental, etc. The results also showed that the topic of Quality of life is in the special interest

Theories Of Hominin Evolution
Thinking about evolutionary theory, some people s first thoughts are humans have come from
monkeys. From what I have learned thus far in Archaeology is that there is more to evolutionary
theory than what one would have previously thought. Prior to entering Introduction to Archaeology I
had almost no knowledge about hominin evolution. The only idea I had about hominin evolution is the
single line of an ape that evolves into a human. For me personally I did not see the relevance of
hominin evolution, I believed that evolution did happen, for example; Darwin s findings on the
Galapagos Islands with how finch beaks change depending on the diet. I believe that evolution does
occur, what I struggled with was the hominin evolution. Prior to class ... Show more content on

I especially enjoyed the video on homo Naledi, it was exciting and I thought it gave an in depth idea
of hominin evolution. It is important for Paleoanthropologists to continue their work because there
could so much more evidence that has not been uncovered yet. Earlier in my paper I said that my
previous understanding of hominin evolution was a straight line of an ape evolving into a human.
However, that is not at all the case. The hominin evolution is similar to many branches coming off of
each other into eventually what separates the earliest apes from the earliest humans. Branches do
come off that have no leads to any other type hominin, which is where the possibility lies on whether,
that branch went extinct, or the remaining branches have not been found yet. This is why the story of
discovering Sediba was so significant. Sediba was a branch of hominid that had never discovered
before it was a missing link from Australopithecus to Homo Ergaster. Without Paleoanthropologists
continuing to search out new evidence, Sediba may have never been found. Paleoanthropologists need
to continue to search for new evidence proving the evolution of hominids further, for many reasons.
One is to find more missing links in the branches like Sediba. Another reason is to

Joseph Kennedy, JFK s father, had ties to the head of the Chicago mob, Sam Giancana, as they
supposedly worked in the bootlegging industry during the prohibition. The mafia also had motivation
for the involvement or carrying out the hit with Robert Kennedy, JFK s brother and attorney general
having made moves against organized crime, possibly angering them, but what many proponents of
this Mafia theory point back to is Jack Ruby who killed Lee Harvey Oswald, he was a Dallas
nightclub owner with known mafia connections but the Warren commission concluded that Ruby didn
t work within a conspiracy as well as in 1979 The House Select Committee on Assassinations stated
that The committee believes, on the basis of the evidence available to it, that the national syndicate of
organized crime, as a group, was not involved in the assassination of President Kennedy, but that the
available evidence does not preclude the possibility that individual members may have been involved .
High end officials also believed that the Mafia had a role within the assassination conspiracy with the
chief counsel for House Select Committee on Assassinations, Robert Blakey later concluding in his
book, The Plot to Kill the President, that New Orleans Crime sydnicate boss Carlos Marcello was
likely part of a Mafia conspiracy behind the assassination, and also had the means and the opportunity
required to carry it

E-Prescribing is an Incentive by the Centre for Medicare ...
E Prescribing is an incentive by the Centre for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS). It allows the
electronic transmission of prescriptions between qualified medical practitioners and physicians. The
aim of the program is to improve the drug prescription system by avoiding errors resulting from
handwritten prescriptions. The E prescribing program runs on various standards. These standards are
spelt out and added in Part D of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization
Act 2003 (CMS, 2013).
The standards outline clearly the eligibility criteria for prescribing physicians and participating
pharmacies. The standards also inform participants on best practice in issues regarding refill
prescriptions, cancellation of prescriptions and changes in prescription among other things. Moreover,
the standards cover administrative guidelines regarding the operation of the system. The standards
also cover the drugs covered by the benefits program of the E Prescribing system. There is a standard
on medical history that allows prescribers access information on drugs currently available to the
patient so as to guide them in the prescription service. Fill Status Notification is a standard that allows
prescribers follow up on the prescriptions status such as it s been picked up or not (CMS, 2013). This
standard serves to allow prescribers follow their patients adherence to prescriptions.
The E Prescribing Program was developed on a timeline. In November, 2005, the initial

Play Critique
The Doctor in Spite of Himself:
The Doctor in Spite of Himself is a play that I had previously studied in France like many of Molière s
plays. I thought that it was ironic for me to go see the play for the first time in theatre in the United
States. I was really looking forward to hear how the actors would pronounce the characters French
names, which are rather exotic even for me. I think that because I had previously studied Molière s
work in class, I was expecting this play to be performed in a much more traditional style. I was a little
disconcerted at first when seeing the actors performing a more modern version than what I had in
mind. I ended up liking what Arne Zaslove has done with the play. In my opinion, modernizing it a ...

I was not expecting the costumes to be as eccentric. Even though they were matching the characters
role and personality, I felt like they were too wacky and did not go well with the play.
Throughout the play, I enjoyed the role of music used to set a comic atmosphere and replace the
dialogs during comic scenes (e.g. when they chase each other around). I also thought that they made a
good use of light to indicate the moment of the day the scene was happening or to set the atmosphere
of the scene (e.g. pink colour during the romantic moments). Lastly, I liked the way the play ended.
Even though it was a little messy with everyone running after each other off and on stage, and this
policeman coming out of nowhere, which really surprised me; I couldn t think of a better way to end
the play.
Overall I think the actors and everyone involved in the making of this play did a very good job, even
though I liked the performance of some actors better than others. The fact that this translation of the
play was a more modern version original play made it more fun to watch according to me.
Unfortunately, the fact that I was not able to fully understand the actors dialog throughout the play
made it less entertaining and agreeable for me to

Existentialism In Mad Max
Existentialism
1. Give a full description of where the issue discussed was observed. Mad Max is a movie from 1979
that I recently have watched with my brother over a weekend at home. As we were engaged in
entertainment of this movie it was brought to my attention of the worldview that this particular movie
presented to its viewers. This worldview is called Existentialism: a view that indicates that our lives
are meaningless and it is up to us to create our own meaning from the day we are born to the last
breath on earth. This is expressed consistently throughout the entirety of the movie and can be of
concern if taken literally.
2. Give a brief statement as to why this issue was chosen. In today s modern world we encounter many
different types of groups and organizations that seem to take major parts of this worldview to
seemingly get there way or act how they deem fit for their own personal gain or lifestyle.
3. Summarize the particular issue and the position presented in the observed forum. Mad Max is set in
a future state of unrest for the world for decades as many violent gangs and terrorist roam the streets
of countries wrecking havoc on all innocents that pass on by. Their only option is to create something
of their own view such as: gangs, violence and death. Thus, indicating there is no meaning or structure

Persuasive Essay On Teenage Driving
Driving down the highway, heading to the movies with three of your best friends in the car singing
along to your favorite song; what better way to spend a Friday night. The car in front of you slams on
their breaks; but you didn t notice, you were looking over at your friend, singing and laughing.
Suddenly, the lives of four teenagers hang in the balance, dependent on the skill and reaction time of
one inexperienced teen driver. This scenario is far too common when reviewing the safety of teenage
drivers. Currently, Florida is one of five states in the country that has no restriction on the number of
teenage passengers in a car driven by a teenage driver ( Teenagers ). As adults, parents, and members
of our community, we need to band together and encourage Florida lawmakers to impose restrictions
on the number of passengers under the age of 20 in vehicles driven by teenage drivers. By doing so we
not only protect the safety of our children but also innocent passengers and fellow motorists. Fourteen
states, including Georgia, Indiana, West Virginia, and California prohibit any passengers under the age
of twenty for the first six months of driving and lessen the restriction, allowing one passenger under
the age of twenty after that ( Teenagers ). Statistics on teenage driving accidents and deaths are
alarming. According to 2012 statistics released by the National Center for Health Statistics, 60% of
passenger vehicle deaths were teens ages 13 19, 54% of the deaths of teenage

women s role in society?
A Potential for Equality Humans, just as flowers, cannot fully live without sunlight. They cannot
develop without nourishment, and most of all they cannot flourish if not carefully tended to. Just as
the Chrysanthemums fight to stay strong and meaningful in the short story, The Chrysanthemums by
John Steinbeck, the main character, Emily, tries to do the same. Both the setting and overall mood of

Elisa s frustration of being held back as a woman is reflected in her masculine description because she
wishes to be treated as a man; with equality and recognition. Elisa s hard work and passion she puts
into her chrysanthemums makes her feel strong and powerful. But the chrysanthemums also
symbolize Elisa and her limited possibilities because they are both often overlooked.
Throughout the short story, Elisa has a strong connection with her chrysanthemums. Not only does
their maintenance take up most of her time, but they resemble her role in society quite figuratively.
From their physical appearances to their overall meaning to the world, both the flowers and Elisa lack
any sort of significance. Chrysanthemums are most often referred to by their symbol of optimism and
joy; which are both feelings brought to Elisa as she tends to her flowers. Also being perennials, these
flowers come back year after year which is represented through the reoccurring theme of Elisa s strive
to be equal. The chrysanthemums not only represent her role in society, but they also speak for many
women throughout the world today that deserve more exposure and equality than they are given.

Key Themes In Macbeth
In the story of Macbeth there are a myriad of themes that can be explored and analyzed within the
text, which become distinct and unique in their own way. As the main character, Macbeth, goes
through continuous conflict and self doubt based on the morality of his choices; other characters
slowly get assorted within the chaos that ultimately changes and influences the scenes and murders
that play out throughout the book. Lady Macbeth (Macbeth s wife) can be attributed to most of her
husband s actions as she calls his manhood and pride into question over and over again. Lady Macbeth
manipulates her husband into murdering King Duncan and anyone else that threatens their power,
which steadily begins to address her own morality as a human being. As the book continues, further
on, a sense of guilt can be discovered as part of the aftermath of murdering Duncan. Near the end
Lady Macbeth begins to feel a burden of guilt. This burden towards the innocent and brutal murders
committed drives her into madness, which ultimately leads to her own death. In essence, Shakespeare
s Macbeth suggests a vision of the world in which Macbeth s vaulting ambition and lust for power is

That s why I find comfort in youtube. The videos are the most comfort I get at the moment, I mean

Essay On High School Dropouts
Every twenty six seconds a student drops out of high school and every day 7,200 students drop out of
high school in the United States. Which unfortunately leads to 3,03,000 students dropping out of high
school in the United States each year. Teenagers dropping out of high school has been a widely
discussed topic in America, with people debating whether high schoolers should be required to stay in
school until they are eighteen. As president, Barack Obama, made efforts to lower the number of
dropouts, by creating new laws that encourage students to finish school and graduate, earning their
diploma. Earning your diploma will allow you to use prior knowledge to create educated decisions,
fret from the number of risks that dropping out may result in, and will open the doors to a world full of
opportunity. At the end of 2015, the total dropout rate was 5.9%, which suggests that our country
should strive to lower the number of dropouts, by requiring students to receive their high school
diplomas.
Requirements of a successful adulthood include the abilities: problem solving, responsibility, and
independence. Since the requirements are learned at school, they are able to take the skills with them

Reflection On Stoma Care
Introduction:
During my current Professional Experience Placement (PEP) is in Medical Ward, I got an opportunity
to take care of the patient (Mrs Leoine), who had a bowel surgery as she had a bowel cancer for which
ileostomy stoma was created on the lower side of her abdomen to discharge faecal matter and urine.
Mrs Leoine was required full assistance with her stoma care as she was not fully aware about stoma
care. Therefore, my learning skill is stoma care that plays a significant role in delivering a person
centred care to Mrs Leoine.
Sets achievable action plan; describe the outcomes 5%
To achieve my learning needs, I discussed my concerns about stoma care with my preceptors while
she was changing the patient stoma bag than she briefly explained to me, including type of stoma, sign
of infections and how should change the stoma bag. From her explanation, I learnt that critical
thinking plays a vital role in any change in colour of surrounding skin and the output of stoma.
Changing skin colour may indicate for sign of infection and high output of stoma can cause of
dehydration following low blood pressure and a risk of fall respectively (Kwiatt Kawata 2013).
My facilitator also organises a skill day to impart us depth knowledge about the documentation of
stoma care that would help in maintaining the continuity of stoma care (Williams 2007). My facilitator
demonstrated the whole skill step by step which made me more confident in performing the skill.

Omens are a part of many different religions, including Catholicism. Since Paulo Coelho is of the
Catholic religion, this could be a large contributor of why he believes in omens. Omens show up in his
writing of The Alchemist, quite frequently. Exploring Coelho s life and the omens he uses, open up a
lot of information on his life and his writing. The first omen that shows up in The Alchemist is the
rocks that Melchizedek gives to Santiago. They are called Urim and Thummim. The black signifies
yes, and the white no. (Coelho 12). These two rocks are to help Santiago follow different signs
throughout the story. Although Santiago only uses them a few times during The Alchemist, they are
there to offer guidance whenever he may need them. Santiago first acquired these rocks from
Melchizedek, the King of Salem and the way Santiago received the rocks was very similar to how
they were used in history. Urim and Thummim were embedded into an important Priest s breastplate.
Over the years, Urim and Thummim have been known as light and perfection, also as the perfect light.

Theme Of Family In Water For Elephants
Believing in Creating Families
The novel Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen presents a dramatic and emotional plot about a boy,
Jacob, who joins the circus after losing everything. As readers join Jacob on his journey, the question
of what constitutes family is answered and the theme family can be created by those who love a
person is revealed. Like Jacob people may feel alone and lost but, there is a family out there
somewhere, even if they are a bit unconventional. Water for Elephants resonates with my beliefs about
family by expressing the theme, family does not always mean those one is born to but those one has
found to love and care for. My beliefs allowed me to better understand the theme, connect with
characters, as well as strengthen my beliefs by reading such an emotional novel with the theme
centered on creating a family.
I was instilled with the belief family does not mean people who share DNA, rather people who share
love and compassion for one another. This allowed me to better understand the theme about creating
families the author explains in the novel. By understanding the basics of the theme, I know families
created are just as or more strong and loving than those which are born. For instance, when Uncle Al
is unfair to Jacob, Camel reassures Jacob, You re a good kid, and I ain t about to stand by and watch
you mope off cuz that fat old grouch don t got time. (Gruen 53) Jacob found a family in many people
from the circus and the strength of that family is

Shiba Inu Essay
Shiba Inu
Shiba Inu is a dog breed that originates from Japan and is one of the distinct spitz types of breeds. It is
the smallest of the original spitz breeds and breeder who originally bred it wanted to have a good
hunting dog hence it is bred for hunting especially in Japans thick forests and mountain areas. The
Shiba Inu is also known as the Japanese Shiba Inu or the Shiba Ken but it is at easy to confuse with
the Akita Inu and the Hokkaido which are also Japanese dog breeds. The Shiba is generally smaller
compared to other dog breeds that originate from Japan and it has a different temperament.

The white Shiba Inu remains a beautiful dog and some dog owners will prefer the white one compared
to colored Shiba Inus.
Black Shiba Inu
This is a Shiba Inu that has a black coat. Rarely do you find an entirely black Shiba Inu, but rather
they are usually black and tan. Black Shiba Inu is more popular compared to the white Shiba Inu due
to the fact that for the black one, the Urajiro is visible and this is considered to be a mark of beauty for
the dog. Born black, the parts of the dog where the Urajiro is will continuously fade until it is
completely visible.
The Urajiro appears on the side of its jaws, under the jaw itself, on the neck and chest as well as the
stomach and the underside of the dog. It is also visible on the fore chest and goes down to the shoulder
joints. The different parts of the coat that have different colors usually have a high contrast to each
other making the black Shiba Inu look amazing and this is why most breeders will insist that it is
standard for a Shiba Inu to have the Urajiro present so as to be allowed to take part in a dog

The Effects Of Stress On Our Body
Stress is unique to each of us.
Yet the stress experience is one we can all relate to and which has shared qualities. Stress is the
tension that we feel within us whenever we feel threatened. When we see something outside of us that
is threatening, we tense up in reaction. Imagine yourself as a spring. When everything is going well
and you feel safe and secure, your spring is relaxed. But if something unexpected happens that weren t
counting on, you react by tensing up your spring. This creates a tense feeling within. A tense reaction
occurs both in our mind and in our emotions. In our mind where we observe what is happening, we
interpret what we see as threatening. Our perception of a threat triggers an emotional reaction. The
emotion that we often feel is fear.
But it doesn t stop there. The emotional reaction initiates an alarm reaction in our body. This alarm
reaction within our physical body is programmed in. Whenever we experience anything stressful, our
body runs the same program. Our body s physical responses to stress are often referred to by
researchers as the stress response .
The body s stress response.
The stress response our body s programmed response to any experience of a threat starts in the brain.
Within the brain is an area called the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus controls all of the body
functions that we are not aware of. Things like blood pressure, heart rate, blood flow, secretion of
stomach acids, kidney filtration of urine, liver secretion

How Lean Construction Affects The Industry
The assignment will be an essay on lean construction where I will pick a practical example where I
will relate it to the construction industry to see how lean can affect the industry and how the industry
can benefit from lean. The aim of lean is to remove waste complete where the product is the most
valuable. The construction industry is known for wasting material or leaving project uncompleted due
to finical or other reason I will analyse the the time and cost of lean seeing how it impact the practical
example and hoe much time it will save for a project as well as the cost.
Lean production is known as lean where the aim is to remove waste, which is known as Muda a
Japanese word which means waste, where the first company to use lean was Toyota. The company
caught the world attention in 1980 (Liker, 2004) as cars where lasting longer than American cars and
Toyotas finical turnover was increased as well its shares increased by 24% when the market was

waste and make the best quality product aswel to make the product the most valuable as this will make
the production line will only have adding cost to the product none adding value. There is three types
of waste the first waste is Mura a waste caused due to variation between products which can cause

Myosin Light Chain
All organisms, from humans to simple bacteria, have a necessity to move in order to adapt to changes
in their external or internal environment, navigate towards food, and avoid dangers. Even cells are
teeming with motion as they reorganize organelles, nucleic acids, and proteins. At the molecular level,
two types of elements assist in the control movements of the cell and the organism as a whole:
molecular motor proteins and intricate complexes of protein filaments that make up the cytoskeleton
of the cell (Vale and Milligan, 2000). Myosin is a family of motor protein that act as enzymes in the
hydrolysis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to form adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and inorganic
phosphate (Pi), The energy released by this reaction to drive the movement of molecules and
contraction of muscle fibers (Grigorenko et al., 2007). A remarkable part of evolution is that the same
mechanisms that control of contraction of muscles by myosin, are also used to propel ... Show more

Perihelion Distances
Space is extremely vast, and planets are tiny specks by comparison to the distance between them,
which means that a random object flying through the solar is extremely unlikely to collide with Earth,
and only a small number of the objects in our solar system even have the possibility of coming near
Earth. First, it is necessary to understand how astronomical orbits are defined. Three key terms, as
explained by WSU s introductory astronomy course, are the semi major axis, the perihelion distance,
and the aphelion distance. The semi major axis is half of the elliptical orbit s main axis, and is also the
object s average distance to the sun, the perihelion distance is the closest distance the object ever gets

serious risk and need to be monitored, as well as objects which could become dangerous if their orbit
is slightly changed by an unexpected collision or gravitational

The Significance of the French Revolution and the Ensuing...
Discuss the significance of the French Revolution and the ensuing Napoleonic State on the formation
of nation states in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
The French revolution was an event of epic proportions. At the outset, alike the English Civil Wars, an
autocratic monarch (Louis XVI) summoned Parliament, in France Estates General, in order to demand
funds and prerogatives. The outcome became very similar to the English Civil Wars; the Third Estate
rebelled (in England it was Parliament though), overthrew the monarchy, the King was executed, a
republic was founded and kingship outlawed in the process. Nevertheless, even though the English

The consequences would be devastating in the twentieth century.
Also, the successes in the battlefield would be significant on the spreading of new ideas and forms of
government; the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen, the metric system, the introduction of
Civil marriage, and the Napoleonic Code. Many of these principles are still in use in our day.
When Napoleon assumed total control of the French state, he sought to expand French influence.
Indisputably, Napoleon was a gifted commander in chief; France s military was well organised,
adequately equipped and capably led. Unsurprisingly, the French established their military hegemony
in Europe. Napoleon played the role of kingmaker and amended the political landscape according to
his views. He terminated the Holy Roman Empire, redistributed land (for instance Bavaria greatly
benefited and Poland was given independence), Ironically, when Napoleon was defeated by
monarchies fighting to reinstitute the ancien regime in France, the ancien regime was not fully
reinstated. Many states preferred to keep the new administrative and legal frameworks; the French
legacy was maintained as it was more efficient. (Emsley et al, p. 24 25, 2011).
The French Revolution and the Napoleonic Empire reintroduced the concept of elections in the form
of plebiscites for nationwide political affairs; Napoleon himself cleverly used the media and military
bulletins to augment his standing with the French nation. The difference

The Medium Of Art By Leonardo Da Vinci s Mona Lisa
Of all the creative mediums in existence, of which there are a plethora to discover, the medium of Art,
although recognized by most as a legitimate creative medium, is one of the most controversial.
However, in the subject of practical artwork, sculptures, paintings, and performance artworks, the idea
of a definitive artwork is almost non existent. Although there are artworks that exist, such as Leonardo
da Vinci s Mona Lisa, which are known seemingly universally (Torov, 2011), there are few critics or
viewers who can explain just what exactly constitutes it as a good artwork. This investigation appears
to become universal to many other artworks, an argument that arises between technical mastery,
motives, and meaning, if any at all. That is to say that interpretation battles against visual
astonishment. However, although the visuals are by far the most striking part of almost any artwork,
the first thing that most look for beyond the visual elements is the story being told within the visuals.

The Effect Of Heat On The Transport And Removal Of...
Effect of heat on the transport and removal of contaminants from soil
1. Introduction
1.1 Background
Soil remediation has emerged as an important field in Applied Sciences due to its potential in
environmental clean up of harmful chemicals and contaminants. Various incidents in the past like the
deep water horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has raised an alarming question regarding how to
protect the environments encountering such devastating effects and restore them to their original state.
In this regard, researchers have put together their efforts coming from various disciplines to be able to
find a solution for this challenging question.
Soil forms an important asset of today s urban and rural population. Crops growing on fertile soils are
important for feeding the millions around the globe. Accidental oil spills from water bodies and
industries contaminate the soil in its vicinity. Also, pollution due to pesticides and insecticides have
increasingly demanded soil clean up and restoration. Often we lay more emphasis on the role of biotic
agents in remediation/ biodegradation but forget the important role that some physical effects have on
the remediation of soils. This can be more advantageous and often is more effective in contaminant
removal than other chemical or biological processes. The potential for using such an approach is clear
in the fact that such methods are currently being used at some Superfund sites throughout the United
States. They have been proven

Examples Of Estella In Great Expectations
Imagine living a luxurious, wealthy life full of money and possessing everything desired at any given
time. This utopia may sound like an enjoyable experience, however, it would be contained of personal
and emotional hardships. These everyday struggles introduce themselves when the owner of such
wealth realizes that those riches can generate loneliness or great sadness. This concept of negative
consequences resulting from occupying wealth is expressed in Charles Dickens novel, Great
Expectations. Dickens utilizes Estella, a cold hearted, ill mannered protagonist to portray that even
with all the accessible wealth in the world, it is still possible not to discover happiness and respect for
others. Dickens idea is conveyed through Estella s personality, reckless attitude, and as well as Miss
Havisham, Estella s adopted mother. One of the main ways that Estella s unhappiness is conveyed
throughout the novel is through her personality. Estella is often viewed as impolite or unsympathetic
towards others, especially men. As a young child, Estella was constantly inhospitable to Pip, the main
protagonist. For example, when he would attempt to socialize, Estella simply replies with, He calls the

Essay about St. Augustine
Saint Augustine of Hippo
Theologians, Biblical scholars and Christians all over the world often wrestle with two extremely
important questions about their faith. These questions are, quot; What is God like? quot; and quot; How
should we live in response to God? quot; Some feel that we need others to direct us, some feel we
need them to challenge us, but everyone agrees that we need others. That is exactly how Saint
Augustine struggles to find his faith and beliefs. He found it extremely difficult to come with a
conclusion when it was staring at him straight in the face, but just as he did, we draw up our own
conclusions with the guidance of others.

He was profoundly influenced by the philosophical treatise Horentsius, written by the Roman
statesman, Marcus Tullius Cicero. When questioning his parents religion, he was particularly drawn to
Manichaeism, also known as the Manichees. Manichaeism is a dualistic philosophical religion based
on a God of Good and a God of Evil. This religion, at first, seemed to correspond to most of the
plausible hypothesis s Saint Augustine created to conclude a philosophical and ethical system. The
Manichees claimed to have found contradictions in Holy Writ, also known as the Bible. He was so
astonished by this he couldn t help but dedicate his time and study s to the book of the Manichees. The
Manichees believed that there was contradiction in the scriptures of the Bible. They did not believe
that the earth and the human race were created as it was written in Genesis. But when Saint Augustine
questioned the Manichees concerning the movements of the stars, none of them could answer him.
Disappointed, Saint Augustine turned skeptic about the religion and so he left the Manichees.
In 383 Augustine left Carthage for Rome where he found refuge with Bishop Ambrose of Milan. A
year later he became a teacher of rhetoric. Having visited Bishop Ambrose, the fascination of that

Emile Durkheim And Karl Marx
Emile Durkheim and Karl Marx are considered the founding fathers of sociology. Both men had an
influence on the development of sociology. Marx and Durkheim differed in their idea of what
alienation consisted of. For Marx, the issue was class conflict. While, for Durkheim, it was a
disordered society trying to adapt. Although they both had different concepts of alienation, both men
believed that alienation lead to a man s disconnectedness with society and their natural state of mind.
Durkheim and Marx also had contrasting views of the role of religion and education. Karl Marx was

Durkheim s views on alienation differ from Marx s beliefs. Durkheim focused on the idea of social
solidarity and anomie. He believed that class division was acceptable because it formed
interdependence. Durkheim saw it as normlessness and/or anomie. Anomie essentially means little
moral guidance to individuals which may lead to the breakdown of social bonds between individuals
and society. When a person feels anomic, there is a feeling of purposelessness in life leading to the
reason he wrote his book Suicide. Durkheim viewed anomic people as an individual s lifestyle
becoming too unstable leading to a breakdown. This is what occurred over different society. Durkheim
argued that suicide can be caused by social factors, not just individual psychological ones. Durkheim
felt that the system would eventually take care of itself and eventually adapt to a suitable form. In
Durkheim s eyes, religion gave meaning and purpose to life as well as reinforcing social unity and
stability. Religion gave people a similar set of beliefs, which is a meaningful agent of socialization by
bringing people together physically and emotionally. Thus, religion demonstrates moral behavior to
people, helping them learn to be good members of society. His views of religion centered on making
people willing to put the concerns of others ahead of themselves. As for education, Durkheim believed

Leadership And Servant Leadership In The Galileo Seven
In the episode The Galileo Seven , Mr. Spock is in command of a space shuttle craft, which crash
lands on a hostile alien planet. His leadership style and behaviour cause conflict and resentment
amongst the crew of the shuttle craft, as he battles to extract them from the alien planet. Ultimately, he
could save the remaining crew and himself and get back to the USS Enterprise.
The leadership style of Spock can be analysed using several leadership theories that was introduced
during the lecture series such as Trait Approach, Skills Approach, Behavioural Approach,
Transactional Transformational Leadership, Situational/Contingency Approach, Path Goal Theory,
Authentic Leadership and Servant Leadership.
Looking at the Trait Approach it assumes that Leaders are exceptional people, born with innate
qualities, destined to lead. Considering the background of Mr. Spock he was not considered as a first
choice for leadership because captain Kirk was presumed to be better suited for leadership according
to this leadership theory. However, as a lot of other theories suggest a leader cannot be only assessed
by innate qualities. In the mid 20th century, the trait approach was challenged by research that
questioned the universality of leadership traits. Stogdill (1948) suggested that no consistent set of
traits differentiated leaders from non leaders across a variety of situations. (Nothhouse, 2016)
(Stogdill, 1948)
Considering the Skills approach it suggests that leadership is not only about innate characteristics.
Several skills and abilities which can be learned and developed helps a person to become a better
leader.
Based on field research Katz (1955) suggested that effective administration (i.e., leadership) depends
on three basic personal skills: technical, human, and conceptual. Technical skill is knowledge about
and proficiency in a specific type of work or activity. Human skill is knowledge about and ability to
work with people. Conceptual skills are the ability to work with ideas and concepts. (Northhouse,
2016) (Katz, 1955)
Considering the case of Mr. Spock; in my opinion Mr. Spock was very well equipped with both
Technical skills and Conceptual Skills which helped him to be a successful leader. However, he

The South Carolina Pre Revolutionary Stono Rebellion
The South Carolina pre revolutionary Stono Rebellion led to many different forms of reactions from
the people in colonial South Carolina. It can be characterized as that of a further dark future for the
slaves, while creating more fear and discontent for the white citizens of the area. The revolts output
created attitudes that led to the American revolution for whites, while creating the harsh and negative
attitudes displayed toward blacks which we still see today. The repercussions created a greater sense
of fear for Africans among the white population in Southeastern North America, one which
necessitated a means for controlling what they believed to be a dangerous people. The revolt also
showed the whites sense for blaming others for the uprising among the slaves, as multiple Spanish
men are claimed to have incited the slaves to rise up and kill to gain their freedom in Florida. The
Stono Rebellion took place in South Carolina in 1739. Named after the Stono River, near where many
of the whites were killed, the event happened on September 9th, with various reports differing on how
long those in the revolt remained at large. The revolt consisted of slaves breaking away from their
bondage, taking up arms and joining those in the cause. The rebellion resulted in the deaths of men,
women, and children on various properties destroyed by the revolting slaves. The beginning of the
uprising, and the motives which sprouted the event are mired with controversy. In Colonel

Microsoft Office vs. OpenOffice.org Essays
Microsoft Office vs. OpenOffice.org
According to Microsoft.com, a new version of Microsoft Office 2003 will normally cost anywhere
between $400 $500, depending on which version you get. While Microsoft also has a $150 Student
and Teacher Edition which is the same at the $400 Standard Edition, most people do not qualify for
that version, and even for those that do, $150 can still be a lot of money, especially for a student, and
$400 is much more than most people would want to spend simply to type a document occasionally.
These prices seem even more extreme in light of the fact that there are many free alternatives to
Microsoft Office. One of the most popular and well known alternatives is OpenOffice.org, which is ...

In addition, Writer doesn t automatically try to help the user with tasks, as opposed to Word, which
will try to make suggestions if it sees you doing certain things. Whether OO or Office has the right
approach to how much to help the user really is a personal preference, and while I prefer OO s
approach of not interrupting the user to try to help, I can understand how many people would prefer
Office s user friendliness.
When it comes to standard features, Writer seems to have pretty much everything that I would look
for, including automatic spellchecker, thesaurus, advanced formatting, the ability to insert graphics,
and macros among other things. One feature I have not found in Writer, though, is the automatic
grammar checker. I m not sure if this is really a bad thing, since it seems that Word s grammar checker
was not extremely useful, because many times it would suggest something that was wrong, but I found
that it still would occasionally catch things that I miss, and so it would be nice to have something like
that just as a backup.
Unless a user is creating a extremely complex document that requires some of the advanced
functionality of Word, the programs are very similar in what they are able to do, and most users will
not notice a difference. The biggest difference between the two programs,

How Did Trepkowski Affect The World
Tadeusz Trepkowski was the first Polish poster designer to emerge after WWII who lived from 1915
until 1954, unfortunately dying at the young age of forty. (RoGallery) His training evolved from his
education at Printing Industry School and City College of Decorative Arts and Painting in Warsaw.
(RoGallery, 2013) Trepkowski s anti war, publicity, and political poster art became very prominent
after WWII when the poster became a great source of national pride for Poland (Meggs, Philip and
Alston Purvis, 2012) and became very important for communications (Meggs, Philip and Alston
Purvis, 2012) due to a lack of television and broadcasting in Poland during that time. (Meggs, Philip

General Model Of Planned Change
1. What is the General Model of Planned Change?
The general model of planned change was established by Kurt Lewis and it serves as a blueprint for
organizations to follow during times of change. The general model of planned change consists of three
simple steps. The first step in this process is unfreezing, during this phase the object is to reduce
forces and maintain organizational behavior at its current level. The second phase is moving, which
involves shifting the behavior within the company to a new level. Thirdly, refreezing is the last step in
the process this stage is about the stabilization within the company at a new state of equilibrium. The
general model of planned change consists of four different phases or activities. The four different
stages are entering and contracting, diagnosing, planning and implementing, and evaluating and
institutionalizing. All of the above activities are the different stages that a company undergoes to
ensure that planned change happens in an effective manner.
2. Who created the General Model of Planned Change?
There have been many theories pertaining to planned and unplanned change in the marketplace.
However, one of the original models for planned changed was created by Kurt Lewin. Kurt Lewin was
born on September 9, 1890, in Germany and he died in February 12, 1947. German born American
social psychologist known for his field theory of behavior, which holds that human behavior is a

The White City By Erik Larson
Erik Larson s literary nonfiction novel The Devil in the White City surrounds the events of the 1893
Columbian Exposition World s Fair in Chicago. Larson does a magnificent job intertwining the lives
of two men who were changed by the events of the fair. Daniel H. Burnham, the brilliant architect
behind the legendary 1893 World s Fair and Dr. H. H. Holmes, the cunning serial killer who used the
fair to lure his victims to their death. The purpose of this review is not only to summarize Larson s
fascinating and satisfying work which vividly portrays one of the last grand gasps of the nineteenth
century, but to also evaluate his work as a writer while providing a critical analysis of his book.
As stated The Devil in the White City is a novel based on true events which I personally found
intriguing since the way Larson conveys his writing makes it seem almost fictional. Larson s novel
focuses on two main characters Daniel H. Burnham and Dr. H. H. Holmes born Herman Webster
Mudgett. Larson first introduces Burnham with the sentence He was sixty five years old and had
become a large man. His hair had turned gray, his mustache nearly white, but his eyes were as blue as
ever, bluer at this instant by proximity to the sea (p.3). While reading the book we discover that
Burnham was the architect who got contracted to build the 1893 Chicago World s Fair with John Root.
Unfortunately, we also discover that John Root dies before the fair even begins construction, leaving

How Did Benjamin Harrison Become President
Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd president of the United States of America. He was born on a small
Ohio farm on August 20, 1833, the second of nine children of hard working parents John Harrison and
Elizabeth Ramsey Harrison. In many ways Benjamin Harrison was born to be President because of his
heritage. He was named after his great grandfather who was a member of the House of Burgesses and
a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He was the grandchild of 19th President of the United
States William Henry Harrison, and the descendent of many other significant political officers and
patriots. All of these facts added up to his reputation and led up to his presidency.
John Harrison, Benjamin s father, expected much of young ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

As Benjamin was about to leave for his studies, tragedy struck.
In the summer of august of 1850, just before Benjamin left, his mother Elizabeth gave birth to a son
named James. The birth was hard for Elizabeth and she never recovered. Days before Benjamin was to
leave for school, his mother passed away, and shortly afterwards the baby also died. Although her
death was incredibly depressing for Benjamin he went to college on time and continued his studies.
Benjamin began college in September 1850, and he was known as a smart, stern, quiet, and religious
student. He followed his father s stern teaching and joined the local Presbyterian Church. He did not
have much of a social life outside of class and did not spend much time with his fellow classmates.
Even though, Benjamin quickly discovered that he had a gift for public speaking. He impressed his
teachers and peers alike with his words and his fluent thinking. He joined the Union Literary society, a
club at his local college, and became its president. Members of the club discussed various subjects that
Benjamin enjoyed, such as politics, literature, world history, American history, and speech. Benjamin
even gave speeches on these subjects to his classmates and his teachers.
Benjamin s father, John wanted his son to become a Presbyterian minister. Once Benjamin had left
college he decided to be a lawyer because of his

  • 2. How Does Paton Use Metaphors In Cry The Beloved Country In 1948, apartheid was enacted by the all white national party in South Africa. The purpose was to separate whites from non whites, and to decrease the power and success of non whites. In the 20th century novel Cry, The Beloved Country by Alan Paton, he uses metaphors to emphasize how the suffering of tribal people have both positive and negative consequences on their moral character. Their development of morality can create or mend a division in society. Possessing a strong moral foundation provides the ability to face personal challenges. Cry, The Beloved Country chronicles the emotional journey Stephen Kumalo takes to cope with the sin he faces, internally and externally. The trial of his son, Absalom, for the murder of Arthur Jarvis, poses as a spiritual trial for Kumalo himself. Paton uses anaphora in Kumalo s thoughts to reiterate how hard it is for him to speak when he sees his son, Yes, indeed I shall tell her. Yes, indeed, I shall take her ... He goes so far as to abandon his people. Absalom represents Kumalo s fear of misguidance and insufficiency, which causes Kumalo to feel guilt and responsibility over the sentence his son receives. He explained that all my life I used others to get what I wanted, I did not think to care of the consequences I just wanted as much treasures as I could get. Analysis Of Polymeric Counter Electrode Abstract In this communications, PEDOT: PPS electrode is employed as a counter electrode in a dye sensitized solar cell for low cost photosensor applications. TiO2 nanomaterial is used as photoanode. The structure of the PEDOT: PPS film was investigated by atomic force microscope. This DSSC behaves like Schottky diode at the dark condition. The photovoltaic behavior was studied in the light intensity range 5 130 mW/cm 2. This cell has a stable fill factor of about 0.5 for all the studied illumination intensity range. The linear photo response of the current suggests that new designed DSSC with the polymeric counter electrode is a promising device for the low cost photosensor. The cell shows capacitance inversion from positive to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, it has hole transporting characteristics and shows good conductivities of up to 1000 S/cm [10,11]. Emanuela Tamburri et al. [12] could determine the best experimental conditions to enhance the redox performance of PEDOT: PSS films as the counter electrode in the DSSC. Sung Yeon Heo et al. [13] demonstrated that 3D PEDOT: PSS films could be an as efficient Pt free catalyst in DSSC. Capacitance voltage (C V) characterization is a non destructive technique which determines the charge distribution and identifies the presence of interface states in semiconductors when the applied biasing voltage participates in the carrier capture and emission at interface traps [14,15]. Such traps are charged leading to the production of a dipole layer at the interface. Small modulation in the AC bias will change the barrier height, and the position of the Fermi level will shift relative to its equilibrium position. Thus, the characteristics of the device will be changed [15,16]. In our study, a nanocrystalline PEDOT: PSS polymeric counter electrode was used instead of the Pt counter electrode to reduce the cost of the DSSC. We present a detailed study of the photovoltaic response as current voltage (I V) and C V characterization of the DSSC based on PEDOT: PSS. The conduction mechanism and the negative capacitance of the studied cell are analyzed in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Dr. Ellert And Stan, The Adhs Trauma Stakeholder Workgroup... Dr. Ellert and Stan, The ADHS trauma stakeholder workgroup held its December meeting last week and I attended along with Dr. O Neil. My notes are below. Please let me know if you see anything that raises issues. I think we continue to be okay but I have highlighted three issues where I d like your attention. Here is a link to the most recent CME Requirement The consensus is the trauma medical director s CME should be external to the facility. As I understood the conversation, a doctor can receive CME credit for teaching CME. Is that correct? PJ said this shouldn t be a problem. I believe this would still allow a trauma medical director to take CME at the facility, just not receive CME credit for teaching CME. Pediatric Age The rules say a Pediatric Level I or II is for patients under the age of 18. Does this create a problem for us? I don t see anything that would prohibit us for treating someone younger, like a 17 year old. Trauma Registry The group went back and forth on Registry FTEs. The comment that resonated the most is that not all trauma volumes are the same, that 1,400 annual visits could be done by one or three FTEs, depending on the complexity of the cases. ADHS is going to draft alternative language that gives flexibility, something along the lines of sufficient resources to comply with ADHS requirements. Gustave Courbet Gleaners A Formal Analysis of Gustave Courbet s Burial at Ornans and Jean François Millet s Gleaners The realism era came about during the time of the Romantics, the time where imagination and ideology painted the artists canvas. To be a realist meant that an artist would paint what he actually saw and not an idea of something. For instance, if an artist were to paint a depiction of war, then all the gruesome details would probably be considered in the piece of art. The artist that essentially paved the way out of Romanticism and into the era of Realism was Gustave Courbet considered by some to be the first realist. • 7. Differences Between Animal Farm And The Truman Show Living a good life and trying to pursue the unattainable utopian society takes power, but not everyone has the power to make these things reality. The good life and the utopian society will stay elusive unless one has the ambition to want to thrive and fight for power and control over their own life. The Truman Show, directed by Peter Weir, conveys the idea that everyone has a different perspective as to what the good life and utopia is so, in order to obtain it, Truman must fight for the power and freedom to control his own life. Likewise, in Animal Farm, George Orwell explores how the animals believe that to be able to obtain the unreachable utopian society and good life they must first have power and control over their own lives. To do so they must get rid of Mr Jones, but they soon grow to realise that even once you have power and control, too much power can easily be abused. A good life is a term for the life that one would like to live. It s a life in which one has the freedom to self direct their own life. Truman has the perfect wife, the perfect house, perfect job and perfect friends but does that really matter if he doesn t have freedom? In The Truman Show, Weir expresses that without freedom the good life is unattainable, one can never truly be happy and content with their life unless they have freedom. We see this most clearly when Truman is so determined to Thrive in life and escape from the dome that the good life Christof has endowed for him doesn t matter. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From what I have learned thus far in Archaeology is that there is more to evolutionary theory than what one would have previously thought. Prior to entering Introduction to Archaeology I had almost no knowledge about hominin evolution. The only idea I had about hominin evolution is the single line of an ape that evolves into a human. For me personally I did not see the relevance of hominin evolution, I believed that evolution did happen, for example; Darwin s findings on the Galapagos Islands with how finch beaks change depending on the diet. I especially enjoyed the video on homo Naledi, it was exciting and I thought it gave an in depth idea of hominin evolution. It is important for Paleoanthropologists to continue their work because there could so much more evidence that has not been uncovered yet. Earlier in my paper I said that my previous understanding of hominin evolution was a straight line of an ape evolving into a human. However, that is not at all the case. The hominin evolution is similar to many branches coming off of each other into eventually what separates the earliest apes from the earliest humans. Branches do come off that have no leads to any other type hominin, which is where the possibility lies on whether, that branch went extinct, or the remaining branches have not been found yet. This is why the story of discovering Sediba was so significant. Sediba was a branch of hominid that had never discovered before it was a missing link from Australopithecus to Homo Ergaster. Without Paleoanthropologists continuing to search out new evidence, Sediba may have never been found. Paleoanthropologists need to continue to search for new evidence proving the evolution of hominids further, for many reasons. One is to find more missing links in the branches like Sediba. It allows the electronic transmission of prescriptions between qualified medical practitioners and physicians. The aim of the program is to improve the drug prescription system by avoiding errors resulting from handwritten prescriptions. The E prescribing program runs on various standards. These standards are spelt out and added in Part D of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act 2003 (CMS, 2013). The standards outline clearly the eligibility criteria for prescribing physicians and participating pharmacies. The standards also inform participants on best practice in issues regarding refill prescriptions, cancellation of prescriptions and changes in prescription among other things. Moreover, the standards cover administrative guidelines regarding the operation of the system. The standards also cover the drugs covered by the benefits program of the E Prescribing system. I thought that it was ironic for me to go see the play for the first time in theatre in the United States. I was really looking forward to hear how the actors would pronounce the characters French names, which are rather exotic even for me. I think that because I had previously studied Molière s work in class, I was expecting this play to be performed in a much more traditional style. I also thought that they made a good use of light to indicate the moment of the day the scene was happening or to set the atmosphere of the scene (e.g. pink colour during the romantic moments). Mad Max is a movie from 1979 that I recently have watched with my brother over a weekend at home. As we were engaged in entertainment of this movie it was brought to my attention of the worldview that this particular movie presented to its viewers. This worldview is called Existentialism: a view that indicates that our lives are meaningless and it is up to us to create our own meaning from the day we are born to the last breath on earth. This is expressed consistently throughout the entirety of the movie and can be of concern if taken literally. 2. Give a brief statement as to why this issue was chosen. In today s modern world we encounter many different types of groups and organizations that seem to take major parts of this worldview to seemingly get there way or act how they deem fit for their own personal gain or lifestyle. 3. • 16. Key Themes In Macbeth In the story of Macbeth there are a myriad of themes that can be explored and analyzed within the text, which become distinct and unique in their own way. As the main character, Macbeth, goes through continuous conflict and self doubt based on the morality of his choices; other characters slowly get assorted within the chaos that ultimately changes and influences the scenes and murders that play out throughout the book. Lady Macbeth (Macbeth s wife) can be attributed to most of her husband s actions as she calls his manhood and pride into question over and over again. Lady Macbeth manipulates her husband into murdering King Duncan and anyone else that threatens their power, which steadily begins to address her own morality as a human being. As the book continues, further on, a sense of guilt can be discovered as part of the aftermath of murdering Duncan. Near the end Lady Macbeth begins to feel a burden of guilt. Teenagers dropping out of high school has been a widely discussed topic in America, with people debating whether high schoolers should be required to stay in school until they are eighteen. As president, Barack Obama, made efforts to lower the number of dropouts, by creating new laws that encourage students to finish school and graduate, earning their diploma. Earning your diploma will allow you to use prior knowledge to create educated decisions, fret from the number of risks that dropping out may result in, and will open the doors to a world full of opportunity. At the end of 2015, the total dropout rate was 5.9%, which suggests that our country should strive to lower the number of dropouts, by requiring students to receive their high school diplomas. Water for Elephants resonates with my beliefs about family by expressing the theme, family does not always mean those one is born to but those one has found to love and care for. My beliefs allowed me to better understand the theme, connect with characters, as well as strengthen my beliefs by reading such an emotional novel with the theme centered on creating a family. I was instilled with the belief family does not mean people who share DNA, rather people who share love and compassion for one another. This allowed me to better understand the theme about creating families the author explains in the novel. By understanding the basics of the theme, I know families created are just as or more strong and loving than those which are born. Stress is the tension that we feel within us whenever we feel threatened. When we see something outside of us that is threatening, we tense up in reaction. Imagine yourself as a spring. When everything is going well and you feel safe and secure, your spring is relaxed. But if something unexpected happens that weren t counting on, you react by tensing up your spring. How Lean Construction Affects The Industry The assignment will be an essay on lean construction where I will pick a practical example where I will relate it to the construction industry to see how lean can affect the industry and how the industry can benefit from lean. The construction industry is known for wasting material or leaving project uncompleted due to finical or other reason I will analyse the the time and cost of lean seeing how it impact the practical example and hoe much time it will save for a project as well as the cost. Lean production is known as lean where the aim is to remove waste, which is known as Muda a Japanese word which means waste, where the first company to use lean was Toyota. The company caught the world attention in 1980 (Liker, 2004) as cars where lasting longer than American cars and Toyotas finical turnover was increased as well its shares increased by 24% when the market was crashing. Toyota production system (TPS) and lean production are similar as the aim is to remove waste and make the best quality product aswel to make the product the most valuable as this will make the production line will only have adding cost to the product none adding value. Myosin Light Chain All organisms, from humans to simple bacteria, have a necessity to move in order to adapt to changes in their external or internal environment, navigate towards food, and avoid dangers. Even cells are teeming with motion as they reorganize organelles, nucleic acids, and proteins. At the molecular level, two types of elements assist in the control movements of the cell and the organism as a whole: molecular motor proteins and intricate complexes of protein filaments that make up the cytoskeleton of the cell (Vale and Milligan, 2000). Myosin is a family of motor protein that act as enzymes in the hydrolysis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to form adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and inorganic phosphate (Pi), The energy released by this reaction to drive the movement of molecules and contraction of muscle fibers (Grigorenko et al., 2007). Perihelion Distances Space is extremely vast, and planets are tiny specks by comparison to the distance between them, which means that a random object flying through the solar is extremely unlikely to collide with Earth, and only a small number of the objects in our solar system even have the possibility of coming near Earth. First, it is necessary to understand how astronomical orbits are defined. Three key terms, as explained by WSU s introductory astronomy course, are the semi major axis, the perihelion distance, and the aphelion distance. Discuss the significance of the French Revolution and the ensuing Napoleonic State on the formation of nation states in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The French revolution was an event of epic proportions. At the outset, alike the English Civil Wars, an autocratic monarch (Louis XVI) summoned Parliament, in France Estates General, in order to demand funds and prerogatives. The outcome became very similar to the English Civil Wars; the Third Estate rebelled (in England it was Parliament though), overthrew the monarchy, the King was executed, a republic was founded and kingship outlawed in the process. The consequences would be devastating in the twentieth century. Also, the successes in the battlefield would be significant on the spreading of new ideas and forms of government; the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen, the metric system, the introduction of Civil marriage, and the Napoleonic Code. Many of these principles are still in use in our day. When Napoleon assumed total control of the French state, he sought to expand French influence. Indisputably, Napoleon was a gifted commander in chief; France s military was well organised, adequately equipped and capably led. Unsurprisingly, the French established their military hegemony in Europe. Napoleon played the role of kingmaker and amended the political landscape according to his views. He terminated the Holy Roman Empire, redistributed land (for instance Bavaria greatly benefited and Poland was given independence), Ironically, when Napoleon was defeated by monarchies fighting to reinstitute the ancien regime in France, the ancien regime was not fully reinstated. Many states preferred to keep the new administrative and legal frameworks; the French legacy was maintained as it was more efficient. (Emsley et al, p. 24 25, 2011). The French Revolution and the Napoleonic Empire reintroduced the concept of elections in the form of plebiscites for nationwide political affairs; Napoleon himself cleverly used the media and military bulletins to augment his standing with the French nation. However, in the subject of practical artwork, sculptures, paintings, and performance artworks, the idea of a definitive artwork is almost non existent. Although there are artworks that exist, such as Leonardo da Vinci s Mona Lisa, which are known seemingly universally (Torov, 2011), there are few critics or viewers who can explain just what exactly constitutes it as a good artwork. This investigation appears to become universal to many other artworks, an argument that arises between technical mastery, motives, and meaning, if any at all. Introduction 1.1 Background Soil remediation has emerged as an important field in Applied Sciences due to its potential in environmental clean up of harmful chemicals and contaminants. Various incidents in the past like the deep water horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has raised an alarming question regarding how to protect the environments encountering such devastating effects and restore them to their original state. In this regard, researchers have put together their efforts coming from various disciplines to be able to find a solution for this challenging question. Soil forms an important asset of today s urban and rural population. Crops growing on fertile soils are important for feeding the millions around the globe. Accidental oil spills from water bodies and industries contaminate the soil in its vicinity. Also, pollution due to pesticides and insecticides have increasingly demanded soil clean up and restoration. Often we lay more emphasis on the role of biotic agents in remediation/ biodegradation but forget the important role that some physical effects have on the remediation of soils. This can be more advantageous and often is more effective in contaminant removal than other chemical or biological processes. The potential for using such an approach is clear in the fact that such methods are currently being used at some Superfund sites throughout the United States. They have been proven ... That is exactly how Saint Augustine struggles to find his faith and beliefs. This religion, at first, seemed to correspond to most of the plausible hypothesis s Saint Augustine created to conclude a philosophical and ethical system. The Manichees claimed to have found contradictions in Holy Writ, also known as the Bible. He was so astonished by this he couldn t help but dedicate his time and study s to the book of the Manichees. The Manichees believed that there was contradiction in the scriptures of the Bible. They did not believe that the earth and the human race were created as it was written in Genesis. Durkheim focused on the idea of social solidarity and anomie. He believed that class division was acceptable because it formed interdependence. Durkheim saw it as normlessness and/or anomie. Anomie essentially means little moral guidance to individuals which may lead to the breakdown of social bonds between individuals and society. When a person feels anomic, there is a feeling of purposelessness in life leading to the reason he wrote his book Suicide. Durkheim viewed anomic people as an individual s lifestyle becoming too unstable leading to a breakdown. This is what occurred over different society. Durkheim argued that suicide can be caused by social factors, not just individual psychological ones. Durkheim felt that the system would eventually take care of itself and eventually adapt to a suitable form. In Durkheim s eyes, religion gave meaning and purpose to life as well as reinforcing social unity and stability. Religion gave people a similar set of beliefs, which is a meaningful agent of socialization by bringing people together physically and emotionally. Thus, religion demonstrates moral behavior to people, helping them learn to be good members of society. • 40. Leadership And Servant Leadership In The Galileo Seven In the episode The Galileo Seven , Mr. Spock is in command of a space shuttle craft, which crash lands on a hostile alien planet. His leadership style and behaviour cause conflict and resentment amongst the crew of the shuttle craft, as he battles to extract them from the alien planet. Ultimately, he could save the remaining crew and himself and get back to the USS Enterprise. The leadership style of Spock can be analysed using several leadership theories that was introduced during the lecture series such as Trait Approach, Skills Approach, Behavioural Approach, Transactional Transformational Leadership, Situational/Contingency Approach, Path Goal Theory, Authentic Leadership and Servant Leadership. Looking at the Trait Approach it assumes that Leaders are exceptional people, born with innate qualities, destined to lead. Considering the background of Mr. Spock he was not considered as a first choice for leadership because captain Kirk was presumed to be better suited for leadership according to this leadership theory. However, as a lot of other theories suggest a leader cannot be only assessed by innate qualities. In the mid 20th century, the trait approach was challenged by research that questioned the universality of leadership traits. Stogdill (1948) suggested that no consistent set of traits differentiated leaders from non leaders across a variety of situations. (Nothhouse, 2016) (Stogdill, 1948) Considering the Skills approach it suggests that leadership is not only about innate characteristics. Several skills and abilities which can be learned and developed helps a person to become a better leader. Based on field research Katz (1955) suggested that effective administration (i.e., leadership) depends on three basic personal skills: technical, human, and conceptual. Technical skill is knowledge about and proficiency in a specific type of work or activity. Human skill is knowledge about and ability to work with people. Conceptual skills are the ability to work with ideas and concepts. The revolts output created attitudes that led to the American revolution for whites, while creating the harsh and negative attitudes displayed toward blacks which we still see today. The repercussions created a greater sense of fear for Africans among the white population in Southeastern North America, one which necessitated a means for controlling what they believed to be a dangerous people. The general model of planned change was established by Kurt Lewis and it serves as a blueprint for organizations to follow during times of change. The general model of planned change consists of three simple steps. The first step in this process is unfreezing, during this phase the object is to reduce forces and maintain organizational behavior at its current level. The second phase is moving, which involves shifting the behavior within the company to a new level. Thirdly, refreezing is the last step in the process this stage is about the stabilization within the company at a new state of equilibrium. The general model of planned change consists of four different phases or activities.
