This document summarizes and analyzes the content of the February 2011 edition of Q magazine, a UK-based music magazine. It finds that the magazine contains primarily music promotion advertisements, as would be expected given its focus on music. Advertisements are largest and most prominent toward the front and middle of the magazine. The editor's letter discusses celebrating the 25th anniversary of the magazine with features like a list of the 250 best albums over its lifetime. The target audience is music lovers across ages but skewing younger as content focuses on modern artists. Readers may also be interested in similar magazines like NME and MOJO that target the same demographic.

A4 were quite frequent at the front and middle of the magazine, this is a good place for large adverts to be located for people who like to flick, and large images will grab audience’s attention. Towards the back of the magazine the adverts start sharing pages and becoming smaller but are more expensive products, this makes it more difficult for people to view the artist or band they want and there is no order and colours are all bright with dark backgrounds to stand out, but as all the adverts are doing this none stand out more than others.

The Editors Letter:
Paul Rees, Editor-in-Chief’s particular aim for this months edition, is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Q magazine, he talks of the year ahead for the magazine and the celebration that will occur, for the first of the celebrations this month will include an 250 Best Albums of Q’s Lifetime.

Guessimate:
My ‘guessimate’ of image to text is 80% image, 20% text in February 2011 edition of Q magazine.
Target Audience:
The people this magazine is most aimed at, is music lovers of all ages, tending to be more of a younger audience as Q mainly features modern artists, if they buy this magazine they may also be interested in NME and MOJO, because they also aim their audiences at the same people, but hold a slightly different genre of music.
