Zelda 2 is a side scrolling
adventure RPG game, it
was made in 1987, it was
made for the Nintendo
entertainment system an
has now been adapted to
the Wii and Nintendo 3DS.
Most of the NPC
characters have
the same design
and movement
patterns this
makes it quite
east to animate
the back ground
characters.
Audience appeal: this game appeals to an audience with its action packed story. It also came
out on largest gaming platform for the time (the NES) which made it largely popular as most
house holds owned a Nintendo system of some sort.

Undertale is a RPG
game released in 2015
made by toby fox for a
large variety of
platforms.
It is a birds eye view RPG with
multiple main characters, and
mini games in between the
levels, dialect between the
characters and movement
around the vast dungeons and
worlds to find new characters
and areas within the game.
Audience appeal: this game appeals to an audience as it became famous for a song
in it called “megalovania” which became viral and drew a large audience to the
game, the character “sans” also became largely popular with audiences which in
turn drew more people to the game.

first released in
1987 and is
continued to be
made now, it is a
RPG game which
changes between
side view and birds
eye view.
This game consists
of a fixed map which
the character moves
about on causing
the world to move
with them, there are
many NPCs I the
game which can all
interact with the
character and give
them missions and
information to help
them with their
mission.
Audience appeal: Final fantasy franchise appeals to
audiences with its bright and different characters and
gameplay, with its fighting gameplay and story behind it,
means the franchise has made 15 games so far.
Existing Product
Toonstruck is an adventure game
released in 1996 for DOS. The game
features hand-drawn imagery and
animated characters, but the
protagonist Drew Blanc is represented
as a video-captured live action
character interacting with the cartoon
world around him.
This game consists of dialect between characters and the main character who can
interact with them to further the story, it involves many mini games in it which if
played well will achieve new items for the character.
Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have? A common feature in the
products I have researched is that most of
them were made before the 2000s era and are
mostly by Nintendo.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work? (see next slides)
Aspects of the games I will attempt to
include in my game.
• Game one: Zelda II: one aspect of this video
game is the NPC characters, which are all all
the same design and animation for
movement.
• Game two: Undertale: one aspect of this game
I will use in my game is is the birds eye like
side scrolling view, with different areas and
hidden parts .

• Game three: Final Fantasy: one aspect of this game I
will include in my game are the battle mechanics for
the game, which will be either confront an enemy or
run away if you have been seen by an enemy. I will use
a similar options based system for my conflict In the
game.
• Game four: Toonstruck: one aspect of this game I will
like to include into my game is the dialect between
main characters in the game, which I can use to give
side quests or lore behind the game.

Existing Product It is viewed from the right side of the world and the characters are seen from side on, and they flip to face the left and right of the screen depending on which way the player makes the character move. Zelda 2 is a side scrolling adventure RPG game, it was made in 1987, it was made for the Nintendo entertainment system an has now been adapted to the Wii and Nintendo 3DS. Most of the NPC characters have the same design and movement patterns this makes it quite east to animate the back ground characters. Audience appeal: this game appeals to an audience with its action packed story. It also came out on largest gaming platform for the time (the NES) which made it largely popular as most house holds owned a Nintendo system of some sort.
  • 3. Existing Product Undertale is a RPG game released in 2015 made by toby fox for a large variety of platforms. It is a birds eye view RPG with multiple main characters, and mini games in between the levels, dialect between the characters and movement around the vast dungeons and worlds to find new characters and areas within the game. Audience appeal: this game appeals to an audience as it became famous for a song in it called “megalovania” which became viral and drew a large audience to the game, the character “sans” also became largely popular with audiences which in turn drew more people to the game.
  • 4. Existing Product Final fantasy was first released in 1987 and is continued to be made now, it is a RPG game which changes between side view and birds eye view. This game consists of a fixed map which the character moves about on causing the world to move with them, there are many NPCs I the game which can all interact with the character and give them missions and information to help them with their mission. Audience appeal: Final fantasy franchise appeals to audiences with its bright and different characters and gameplay, with its fighting gameplay and story behind it, means the franchise has made 15 games so far.
  • 5. Existing Product Toonstruck is an adventure game released in 1996 for DOS. The game features hand-drawn imagery and animated characters, but the protagonist Drew Blanc is represented as a video-captured live action character interacting with the cartoon world around him. This game consists of dialect between characters and the main character who can interact with them to further the story, it involves many mini games in it which if played well will achieve new items for the character.
  • 6. Research Analysis • What common features do the researched products have? A common feature in the products I have researched is that most of them were made before the 2000s era and are mostly by Nintendo. • What aspects of the research will you include within your on work? (see next slides)
