The Marungko Approach is a phonics-based reading instruction method introduced to teachers in Marungko, Bulacan. It was designed to teach Grade 1 students the reading skills needed to improve achievement. The approach uses phonics techniques like teaching the sounds of individual letters and combining them into syllables and words. It involves multiple steps where students first learn the sounds of letters, then combine them to form syllables, words, sentences, and passages. The goal is for students to appreciate Filipino songs, poems, and eventually communicate through reading.
