Renewable energy sources include windpower, solar energy, hydroelectric power, and bioenergy. Windpower and solar energy do not produce emissions but require large areas and specific conditions. Hydroelectric power can cause environmental problems and disrupt wildlife but is very effective. Bioenergy releases carbon dioxide when burned and crop growth for biomass can also produce emissions, though renewables generally do not pollute the atmosphere. While making renewable energy infrastructure uses non-renewable resources, the goal is to utilize natural sustainable power sources.
