4.  Reflective teaching is a strategy for nurturing
excellence.
 Reflective means thinking.
 The professional growth can take place on the
foundation of reflective teaching.

“Reflective is an intellectual and affective
action in which individual engages to explore
this experience in order to lead to new
understanding and applications ”

6. CHARACTERISTICS
1) Whole Heartedness
 It is the willingness , commitment and dedication
of the teacher to act according to our belief and
practices.
 When the teacher believes in attainment of certain
goals he should not hesitated or forget to light for
its attainment.

7. 2) Broad mindness
The desire of the teacher to listen to students many
sides carefully and to give attention to alternative
possibilities in them.
3) Responsibility
Teaching involves moral and responsible activities
of the teacher.

8. STRATEGIES FOR PROMOTING
REFLECTION
1) Writing
To capture teacher through process and yield a
producer which can be evaluated and
reformulated.
2) Journal
Data provided in daily record may be used to
search for patterns of means.

9. 3) Care records
Writing a care record is a structured activity that
expands the number of teaching alternative.
4) Instrumental feedback
Scales and inventories can be used to provide
teacher with data to clarify the personal meaning.

10. 5) Electronic feedback
Victrotaping teacher’s action provides records of
event, issues and feelings for reflecting on action.
6) Contrived situation
Like role plays, care studies, simulation and
microteaching.

11. APPLICATIONS
1) Reflective approach will sharpen teacher’s skill in
problem solving.
2) The student teacher should be given opportunity to
observe how classroom function reflection.
3) It helps students need and conducting action
research.
4) Reflective practice is a strategy for continuous
improvements of an action taken to achieve its
stated objectives.
