CASE STUDY 1
Red Design Group brand team was commissioned to create
a new brand identity for New Academic Street (NAS) project
which will transform the heart of RMIT City campus by
creating new student facilities and retail and hospitality
offers. The result was a bold and exciting brand identity
complemented with a youthful and fun visual language which
appeals to the student demographics.

4. AOpen is an electronics manufacturer in Taiwan. It is also
a division of the Pan Acer Group and a major global IT
brand.
With a vision for the future as the globally leading
electronics manufacturer AOpen approached Red
Design Group to re-imagine their brand for the future.
Successfully presented and embraced by the company at
all levels, this new brand strategy signifies a new era in
AOpen’s history.

the Johnny Bigg brand
attributes. Bold, confident,
urban, authentic, irreverent,
and gusto were words that
they agreed would shape
the brand personality.
Referencing these attributes,
the design process began.
All brand elements from
the brandmark through to
swings tags, labels, signage,
boxes, shopping bags,
posters and the interiors
were designed by Red
Design Group.

to be edgy, humorous, and

nature of the product. It was
not to be simply a shop, it

7. Red Design Group worked closely with Zouki to create
a unique brand concept for St Vincent’s Hospital’s new
courtyard café. Named Courtyard 55, referencing the
location at 55 Victoria Parade in Fitzroy, Red designed the
interior and developed the brand and all branded assets.
Hospital staff, visitors and patients now benefit from an
extensive selection of delicious, healthy food created on
site by the Zouki team, which has an impressive food and
beverage program. The open kitchen provides fresh food
theatre where customers are able to have their order
freshly prepared.

8. Working alongside our Zouki clients, RED have designed
over 100 projects within the hospital precincts of
Australia’s major towns and cities.
These range from cafes, restaurants and food courts
to convenience stores and florists. There is also a large
component of branding and collateral assets.

the new brand (along with the creation of
its name) reflected the natural surround-
ings of the nearby mountain ranges,
which in turn inspired the design of the
interior. Special care and attention was
given to ensuring that the planning and
finishes selection was sensitive to the
requirements of the hospital.

11. The Pecking Order Café challenges the status quo
on how we buy and sell food integrating digital
technology such as digital menus, touch-screen kiosks,
app ordering via personal handheld devices, a point-
of-sale system, an inventory system, loyalty rewards
and payment through PayPal. The café can also be
found on location-based apps that send customers
notifications, special promotions, vouchers and new
menu details when they enter The Pecking Order’s
catchment zone. Red Design Group created the brand
name, identity and graphic illustration which was then
animated for their in-store digital screen.

14. Sundan is a Shenzhen-based
home appliances retailer with
stores across China. Inspired
by a Chinese puzzle ‘Tangram’,
RED created Sundan brand
which breaks away from its

16. Positioned in the art grunge scene of Melbourne’s iconic
Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, Wine Republic is a new concept
store redefining the humble bottle shop.
With the rise of the inner city craft markets and Fitzroy’s
established reputation for street art, our aim was to
introduce an arts focus incorporating sculptural talking
points, illustrations and visual merchandising.
