1. Record label research
Record label: factory records
Factory started in January 1978. Tony Wilson, Rob Gretton and Alan
Erasmus set up Factory Records, with Martin Hannett from Rabid.
Factory records signed some of the biggest names in music history
(in some people’s eyes), bands like joy division, cabaret Voltaire’s,
new order, the wake etc. factory records is still signing new up and
coming bands to this day. Mainly fac records focus on punk/new
wave genres of artist, although after time as punk and new wave
started dying out factory moved on to the next big thing being
techno and acid house genres.
An interesting thing about Factory records is the way they use
different codes for different song and bands. Within fac records
there are individual numbers and codes used for individual songs and
bands, things like new orders song Blue Monday is Fac73, they had
their own club called the hacienda (Fac51) and even there
headquarters had a code (Fac251). So to search any of these codes
you will be able to find precise locations and songs.
