a tribute to Ignacio Vallarta, who was the former President of the Supreme Court of Mexico,
Foreign Minister and governor of Jalisco, the Mexican state Puerto Vallarta is located in. The site
is surrounded by three mountain ranges: the Sierra MadrГ© Occidental, the Sueras Cuale and San
SebastiГЎn, and the average elevation is 22.97 feet above sea level. It is also home to many
beaches and ports, because it is located on the shore of the Bay of Banderas. The climate is
impeccable for a tourist destination: north of eighty degrees fahrenheit all year round, and an

The disease first came to Europe when Italian trade ships returning from a journey through the
Black Sea docked a Sicilian port, and it was discovered that many of the seafarers possessed flu
like symptoms and black, pus filled blisters. This can be categorized under relocation expansion,
because the sailors brought the plague from one place to another with physical movement. Though
the ships were ordered to leave, the disease had already taken to the air and the water. It was so
highly contagious that even a touch of bacillus germ could kill a person within a day. In just five
years, the incredibly efficient disease killed 20 million people all over Europe, and the contagious
diffusion resulted in the death of one third of the population. The bubonic plague was eventually
subdued, but traces of the same bacteria that caused it can be traced to a recent Ebola outbreak, and
the underlying principals of that stimulus diffusion could potentially be profoundly hazardous in

Transformational Opportunities Exist With The United...
Transformational Opportunities Exist to Integrate the United States Mental Health System Mental
illness refers to all diagnosable mental disorders defined as health conditions that are characterized
by alterations in thinking, mood or behavior (or some combination thereof) associated with distress
and/or impaired functioning. (Williams Torrens, 2008, p. 221) With one in every five American
adults experiencing mental illness, the resulting economic burden exceeds $300 billion per year to
include approximately $100 billion in direct health care expenditures, $24 billion in disability
benefits, and $193 billion in lost earnings. (Insel, 2008) This estimate is conservative as it excludes
the components of incarceration, homelessness, comorbid conditions, early mortality and the
incalculable costs to families that absorb much of the financial and emotional burdens of these
illnesses. Despite the fact mental illness contributes over 6% to the nation s health care spending;
the United States (U.S.) mental health system has historically lacked integration with physical
medicine and public policy support. (Insel, 2008) The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
(ACA), though not a panacea, has provided an opportunity to bolster a broken mental health
system. The ACA includes a variety of provisions to effect the biggest expansion of mental health
and substance abuse services in a generation. (Golden Vail, 2014, p. 96) The expansion of health

What Is The Theme Of The Kiss By Kate Chopin
The Kiss
The Kiss is Kate Chopin s short story about a woman scheming to marry a wealthy man. The story
was written on September 19, 1894, and first published in Vogue on January 17, 1895. The
contents of the story are as follows.
The outside was still light, but the curtains were covered inside and the light smoke from the
fireplace emitted a dim, strange light on the room, leaving dark shadows. Brantain was sitting in
one of these shadows, and he was clenched and uncomfortable. Thanks to the darkness, he could
comfortably direct his love filled gaze to the girl sitting in the fireplace. The girl was so beautiful,
she had a beautiful skin color for healthy brunette girls, and she seemed very calm as she stroked
the silky feather of the cat in her lap. And occasionally, he looked glanced at his friend in the
shadows. They were talking about different things, not what ... Show more content on

In the same way, he described the room as full of deep shadows , reflecting the relationship of
Chopin Brantain and Nathalie, not all as they seem (at least for Nathalie). Something that is clear to
the readers as they continue to read the story. Chopin seems to be discovering passion and money.
Although it is clear that Brantain loved Nathalie at any stage in the story, the reader doubts that this
love is mutually shared. There is an attitude saying that Nathalie married Brantain, not love, but
rather a comfortable life with Brantain; A rich manwho is aware of the reader (as opposed to
Harvy). It is possible that Chopin s women (who wrote the story) might claim that people have
established financial security or stability, and instead of marrying love, many women should
marry men who can. Give them financial security. Even if we do not like Nathalie Brantain (as it
is with Harvy), it does not have economic independence to live his life as he

Theodore Roosevelt s the Threat of Japan
Document: Theodore Roosevelt: The Threat of Japan, 1909 [At Mt. Holyoke]
Introduction:
For my history assignment, I chose the document Theodore Roosevelt s The Threat of Japan . After
the Meiji Restoration in 1868, modernization took place, bringing Japan to the height of power
equivalent to a western power after defeating both China and Russia. United States was maintaining
its policy of isolationism but was slowly transitioning to self interest imperialism, keeping control
over countries with economic benefit such as open door policy with China. A summary of this
article would be Roosevelt s changing ideas of how US should change their foreign policy with
regard to the dynamic change in the balance of world powers in 1909. My ... Show more content on

Paragraph 3: Japan s immigration problems
Since the opening of Japan from its self imposed seclusion policy in 1854, scholars have studied
aboard to acquire Western teachings. The immigration problem manifested once Japanese started
immigrating to Hawaii, Canada and US motivated by economic gains and evasion of military
services. In the year 1900 alone, 12000 Japanese entered United States and by 1910 the population
trebled to a total of 72,517. Although this bought a solution to their demand of cheap labour,
another set of problems arise in the form of economic, racial and anti Japanese agitation. Examples
included would be San Francisco School Board implemented segregation of education school
between Japanese and American children, and California legislature passing offensive legislation
aiming at Japanese .
This background knowledge is coherent in identifying the social problems such as a race problem
and contest is forecasted if nothing is done to keep them out. He understands that his people will
not permit the Japanese to come in as citizens and will not tolerate their presences. US experienced
widespread anti Japanese sentiments and this is supported from evidence that Roosevelt received
insults such as an unpatriotic President, who united with aliens to break down the civilization of his
own countrymen by San Francisco Chronicle when he decided to back Japan up against

Trip To Yosemite Research Paper
Trip to Yosemite When I was in 7th grade, the whole entire grade suggested that we should go on
a camping trip. We had many places to choose from, but we all agreed on going to Yosemite. The
reason we chose Yosemite is because we wanted people to stay away from their video games and
electronics for a couple of days and actually enjoy what beautiful things God had made and what
the outside world has to offer. It was an amazing trip and we did have many unforgettable
memories. But one memory I had was on the second day of the trip, it was the day we started to do
activities with our group leader. We hiked up a waterfall, played some games, and also took lots of
pictures. It was a very tiring day and when we were finally done for the day, It was... Show more

Dinner was great and all of us were very full. After dinner, the group leaders told us that we
should all go out to the forest where they had already set up for our last activity of the day. Many
people were excited including myself but it really was not... When we all got there, the leaders
told us that they had already made borders surrounding a part of the forest and that the space
within the border was covered with much less of debris and that they had made it so we knew
that we were still within the border and that we wouldn t get lost. But they still admonished us
that make sure to be inside that border at all times. We each got into pairs and each of us had
been given a flashlight. It turns out that we were going to play hide and seek. Well except it had
one difference, it was hide and seek in complete darkness... A little while later, everyone split up
and my friend and I started to search for a good hiding spot. I suggested that we hide behind a
bush but my friend as opinionated as he is, disagreed. My friend said that it was not a very smart
idea and that we should maybe hide behind a tree since the seeker wouldn t know which tree we
were behind. I unwillingly agreed since we didn t

Education Is Affected By Budget Cuts
Introduction Education is affected by budget cuts as it has been for many years in the United
States. New policies are enacted for accountability and new legislation passed for increasing budget
cuts in education is prevalent (2010).The question that must be asked are states are able to fund
education adequately while still meeting the needs of all students.
Benefits to state budgets The largest area of state spending is in education. Inside this budget,
schools must provide funding for transportation, food, resources in the classroom for all students,
and salaries to all employees. Throughout watching this video, the main benefit I could see from
state s financing schools are the ability to always have a check and balance to determine if funds
are being spent correctly. When I first began teaching, the principal at the time was known to spend
money when it was not needed. When she first took over, she spent $16,000 on murals to make our
school look pretty, even though we had a major leak in the ceiling. After 3 years of not meeting
AYP the state examined the funds that were spent, and the principal was not reassigned the
following year.
Downside to state budgets To begin with, the most interesting information I learned was how in
the near future we will be have to take funds away from the young to help take care of the health
care cost of the elderly. If education funds are to be cut in half, the effects will be felt throughout
society. What will have to be cut

Essay On News Consumption
Background and Research Question Survey questions and questionnaires can always be improved
upon. This can be done through changing the wording of the question, choosing a different
response scale for the question, or reordering the questions in the questionnaire. There are various
ways to find out if a survey questionneeds revision, such as identifying grammar and concept errors
in the question using specific techniques, or conducting in depth interviews to find out if survey
respondents have any issues in answering the survey questions. I will be using questions about
news consumption provided by Pew Research Center(Pew) to show how questionnaire improvement
can be done. The questions about news consumption were implemented by Pew to... Show more

I will use a few different methods. One method is by using the Problem Classification Coding
Scheme (CCS). The CCS is a process to test for issues in the question answering processes. It is a
series of 28 questions that go through each stage of answering a survey question. It tests to see if
there are any issues in any of the states of answering a question (Schaeffer and Dykema,
2011:919). Another method is to the Question Understanding Aid (QUAID). QUAID is a
mechanism to test for issues in wording of a survey question, such as vague words or question
length or even grammatical issues. The goal of QUAID is to ensure that each question is
grammatically correct, and easy for the respondent to comprehend (Schaeffer and Dykema, 2011,
921). A third method and last method is to use cognitive interviews. Cognitive interviews are
small group discussions to talk about issues or topics to help in the process of writing survey
questions and making the survey process go quicker (BCB, 2014:434). All three methods will be
used for questionnaire improvement. For the cognitive interviews, two interviews were done with
people I knew. A summary about the people interviewed is presented in Table 1.
Analysis
After conducting the cognitive interviews and using the CCS and QUAID, there are a few
problems present. For each question, the reference period is vague. The preamble asks for general
news habits. This is a problem since general could have very different meanings

Avatar Movie Analysis
Avatar is a blockbuster film from 2009 and one of my most favorite Sci fi films of all time. The
film was directed by James Cameron, who is known for directing films like Titanic (1997), Aliens
(1986), and the Terminator (1984), all of which helped shape the film industry into what it is today.
Although at the time, there was a recession and people were trying to save money, this movie
became the highest grossing film in at the time. The movie provided stunning 3D technology unlike
any other movie and this was one of the reasons that made people want to go watch the film. From
visual effects to the camera angles, James Camerondirected this movie to make the audience feel
like they are in the movie. Although the film looked amazing, there were messages and themes
inside the film that made it such a success. The film provoked discussions about various messages
and themes embedded inside the film, such as terrorism, Imperialism, religious connections, and
connections to current world. Such messages can be clearly seen throughout the plot of the movie.
The plot of the movie is very simple, it takes place the future, where humans are looking to other
planets for resources and this is a very likely future of the current human race because Earth is
limited on resources and as we run out of resources we will have to look towards other planets for
resources. Jake Sully, the main protagonist of the film, is a former U.S. Marine who is paralyzed

Edgar Wright s Film, Baby Driver
Edgar Wright s musical heist film Baby Driver hit theaters in June 2017 and earned stellar reviews
from critics and general audiences alike for the unique way it synchronized the action unfolding on
the screen with its excellent soundtrack boasting music from multiple decades, here s how they did
it.
Written and directed by Wright, Baby Driver casts The Fault in Our Stars actor Ansel Elgort as
Baby , a supremely skilled getaway driver who depends on a steady stream of music in order to
counteract the effects of tinnitus, or a hum in the drum as the film describes it. He received this
tragedy during a horrid car crash that did away with both of his parents. Now orphaned, he finds
himself on the run after a robbery turned for the worst, while finding a way to protect the people he

He acted as Sound Designer, Supervising Sound Editor and Re Recording Mixer. Slater and his
crew produced hundreds of customized sound effects and carefully positioned each one to fit
perfectly with the action on screen. The whole movie is orchestrated to whatever Baby is listening

chases are cut in sync. Police sirens, barking dogs, speeding trains are at tempo. Much of it is
pitched and syncopated so that the music and sound design work as

working. He sung as a street musician, sold coal, collected junk, and more. He worked for a
Jewish family, the Karnofskys, and they became friends. The Karonfskys often invited him over
for meals and encouraged his singing. In 1912, on New Years Eve, he fired his stepfather s gun
at the sky and was immediately arrested. Armstrong was sent to Colored Waif s Home for Boys.

Analysis On Value Map Or Value Network Analysis
Section 1: Analysis on a value map or value network analysis
Value Map or value network analysis (VNA) is used for companies to gain full insights into how
business is operating in term of relationship with its external environment or actors. It is important
to understand how to convert intangible or tangible and knowledge assets and business
relationships with external actors into other forms of negotiable value. Moreover, based on current
situation of own value network analysis, an organization can analyze, evaluate and improve the
capability of a business position.

Comparing Augustine de Hippo and Mohammed to the Idea of a...
Greek and Roman cultural values pervaded the Western religious society and made it possible for
a series of Christian and Muslim religious individuals to be associated with historic figures present
in Ancient Greece and Rome. While the modern society has a different understanding of the
concept of the traditional hero, society during the early centuries perceived heroes as being
individuals who possessed a series of attributes related to religious ideas and to a general attitude
that promoted moral behavior. Individuals like Augustine de Hippo and Mohammed have come to
be seen as having several attributes that linked them to the idea of the classic Greek hero.
It is surely surprising that religion has adopted a pagan Greek term with the purpose of trying to
describe some of its most notable figures. It is not necessarily that Augustine de Hippo and
Mohammed were considered to possess superhuman abilities, as people came to associate them
with heroes because they were dedicated to assisting the masses and because they were
predisposed to doing good.
In addition to being perceived as one of the most important attributes in a saint, heroism actually
started to be praised by Christians as one of the principal qualities in any true Christian. Augustine
de Hippo basically believed that in order to be seen by God as a person who was capable to serve
divinity, the respective individual needed to be familiar with the attitudes that he or she needed to
put across and with the fact

Summary Of Sandra Bem s The Lenses Of Gender
In Sandra Bem s The Lenses of Gender (1993), Bem s last focus is on how the concepts of
androcentrism and gender polarization create a gendered identity and form our society s
institutions. The most significant aspect to this piece was if men and women were different, and
if so, how to handle that difference in a society. It is very difficult to read this book as a women

same respect is a natural response for me, and to know that in this androcentric country I will not

made, Pregnancy is the paradigmatic aspect of female experience that must be taken

Truus Shroder Childhood
All of us together, of course are the words of Truus Schroder that live on today through the house

As a widow, Truus had ideas of family life, specifically that of her children s upbringing, with
which her late husband didn t necessarily agree. Soon after his death she designed her own home
with Rietveld that would embody her ideals fully. She designed her home in a way that contained
both unique special arrangement and visual qualities. She decided that she wanted to live without
walls, as one single family unit. In 1924, with her home in Utrecht completed, Rietveld moved in

It became not only a place of living, but also a place that celebrated creative work and innovative
thinking. Living without walls opens the door to many possibilities. It is much easier to
connect with your children, as was important to Schroder. She felt her children had been
neglected while living with their father since every time she left they were then taken care of
by a housemaid; she thought this must have been horrible for them and wanted them all to live
together. She also wanted to have space in her house in order to celebrate created work. This
was accomplished through the design of the upstairs. It itself was a gallery of ideas ever
changing each time it was experienced. This atmosphere was very stimulating and put forth a
sense of happiness, which was important to her in how she wanted raise her children. Schroder
wrote about this atmosphere she wanted to create in one of her letters stating, This house exudes a
strong sense of joy, of real joyousness. [...] And that s absolutely a question of proportions, and
also of the light; the light in the house and the light outside. I find it very important that a house

their needs gives them the sense that it is their home. The act of designed the space and making it

The Importance Of Poverty In Education
Life in the Eyes of A Poor Child; A Light at the End of the Dark Tunnel
Where there is no struggle, there is no strength. Oprah Winfrey Oprah Winfrey displays a
common occurrence of struggle in the everyday life of each individual across the world. Struggle
is a universal obstacle everyone faces some more than others. While struggling may bring strength
to some, the hardship can take a toll on others. People all across America face some type of
struggle whether it be clearly seen or hidden underneath the surface. One of the main struggles that
children in America face today is poverty. Living in poverty can not only be detrimental to them
everyday, but to their future. Throughout history we have tried to redress this issue several ways.
Rather than providing them with handed out resources, people need to give poverty stricken
children the tools to create a better life for themselves. Childhood poverty in the United States can
be ameliorated through education. 51% of children in the United States are in poverty.(Huffington
Post) This statistic displays that more than half of the adolescents in the United States battle with
the issue of poverty everyday. The number of children facing this struggle continues to grow every
year. These children due to their low economic status set them in a disadvantaged position in their
education. A child in poverty lags behind 18 months in cognitive development at age 4. Then in
third grade their vocab is one third that of their middle

The different types of religious groups bring this sense of collaboration with all of their own

certain types of religions take their own practice which is one of the main themes involved here.
I got the sense that after reading it all that some type of an illusion was taking place. Control was
the ongoing internal conflict that separated and brought together certain types of people. It was
this specific narrative that also gauged my own interest in reading the entire poem. There were
so many perspectives involved in the main plot that it made it easy for the audience to read into
all sorts of themes and motifs like for instance with the Christians and Cordobans. So many
subtle details involved that kept interest into reading the rest. The aspect of language as well
was one of those main themes that played out in the end to be crucial and lead us to think about
what that religious conquest was all about in the end. It is evident all the varying aspects of
religion taking place and there ties with the main plot. It is important to note each one has its own
separate significance. I would recommend this book for people who enjoy reading into specific

Immature In Catcher In The Rye
Everybody has problems, right? But some people s problems are worse and need to be dealt
with accordingly. In J.D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, Holden loses his brother Allie to
leukemia and multiple things happens to him in the story that is stressing him out and driving
him nuts. That is why we find out at the end of the novel that he is checked into a mental
hospital. Holden is very immature, he is a habitual liar, and he can drift off during the midst of
something because he isn t focused. Holden has shown us throughout the novel that he is
mentally unstable and that is why he is clearly not ready to be released into civilization, he
might need to stay here longer. Holden is very immature and cannot act his age for anything. In
the beginning of the story, Holden was very immature and self centered and he often did very
immature things, but he wanted to be an adult. This is very contradicting considering that he is
very immature. In the novel, Holden states, Boy! I said. I also say Boy! quite a lot. Partly
because I have a lousy vocabulary and partly because I act quite young for my age sometimes. I
was sixteen then, and I m seventeen now, and sometimes I act like I m about thirteen. (Salinger
16). This shows how Holden is very immature and needs to start acting his age and this could be
dangerous to society. This is why he needs to stay inside the mental facility. In the mental facility,
he will be safe and he will not cause any harm to anyone or to himself

The Geyser Old Faithful In Yellowstone National Park, U. A.
Paragraph 1 The Geyser Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park, U.S.A. is a geyser that has a
relatively isolated source of seismic noise. The seismic behavior of this one geyser is similar to
many volcanoes observed. Paragraph 2 Old Faithful differs from other volcanoes because the
conduit is constantly open, and rock fracturing is not a process responsible for the seismicity.
Another difference is that instead of using viscous magma the geyser uses inviscid H2O.
Paragraph 3 Water rises into the reservoir as recharge occurs which suggests that there are two
large storage regions in the geyser. The transport of heat from hot water or steam entering at the
base of the recharging water into cooler occurs because. of an upward migration of steam

The United Arab Emirates
The United Arab Emirates, more commonly referred to as the UAE, gained independence from
England in 1971. The late President, Sheikh Zayid bin Sultan al Nahyan, ruled the UAE from the
start of its sovereignty all the way until his death in 2004 (Rugh, 1997, p. 18). Zayid implemented
a federal monarchy across the state. Unlike many other monarchies, the UAE has sustained great
rule while maintaing peace with its people. Many factors influence this trend and without them the
regime of the UAE would most likely fail. The UAE has flourished for nearly 40 years with a
ruling governmental regime where the majority of power is put into the hands of only a select few
by disallowing political parties and restricting political participation (Rugh,... Show more content on

The federal government oversees major state issues such as immigration, foreign policy, public
health, wealth, transportation, and communications (Heard Bey, 2005, p. 361). But the individual
emirates still have great amounts of power over the residents. The emirates each regulate the
economy specific to its land and the money is given back to the citizens (Rugh, 1997, p.17).
Although the federal government holds the most power, the emirates are still allowed to function
with a degree of independence. The familial and traditional roles held by the leaders of the UAE
establish a long lasting legitimacy throughout the state. The current President and ruler of Abu
Dubai is Khalifa bin Zayid Al Nuhayyan, son of the prior ruler. The Prime Minister, Vice
President, and Sheikh of Dubai is Muhammad Bin Rashid Al Maktum (CIA, 2014). Khalifa bin
Zayid was never formally elected to office, rather he was unanimously appointed to the seat on
the same day of his father s funeral. Because of the legacy and respect Sheikh Zayid created, his
son entered office with the entire UAE s support. The UAE functions tremendously through this
charismatic and traditional legitimacy; Sheikh Zayid was looked up to as a god for his 43 year
reign of power. In many states this long standing rule from one family would not be tolerated by
the public, yet it works so well in the UAE because Sheikh Zayid created and guided the state to

Sweatshops In Developing Countries
Todays, when the citizenship is concentrated, sweatshop is becoming a striking issue of
controversies. Especially in developed countries, this problem is always boycotted, but on the
other hand it is an opportunity for people in underdeveloped countries to change their lives.
Although sweatshop is considered as a complex issue with underpayment and underworking
environment, they are beneficial to change the old ideologies, economic growth, and fair working
conditions. Firstly, women choose to work in sweatshops in developing countries because this is

and her brother, Esteban Trueba, in a bicker about the care for their mother. Ferula is stuck in a
position as a maternal figure, to care for the dying mother while Esteban?s masculinity allows
him to enter the world carefree and to start a new life for himself. Free of the chains of Ferula?s

order. This characterization aids in explaining his shallowness near the end of the book when

Bicameral Legislature Essay
Famous American poet James Russell Lowell once said, Democracy gives every man the right to
be his own oppressor ( Quotations 2011). And it should be just that. James Russell Lowell
successfully defined democracy when it is in its truest form; a citizen s beliefs should be equally
represented and considered for. The representative democracy instated in the United Statespresents
the need for three branches in the government; they include the executive, legislative, and judicial
branch. The Congress embodies the lawmaking branch of the government, having all legislative

They must have the bills checked by both bodies as well as the president and if they disapprove,
a veto can be placed. Another similarity is that both the House and the Senate are also elected
by the people. Although they have some comparisons in the way the House is set up and the
tasks they have to do, there are many distinctions. The House of Representatives contains more
than four times the amount of Senators and serves two year terms compared to a Senator s six
year term. Senators also have to be at least thirty years of age with nine years of citizenship while
the House sets a twenty five year old minimum with seven years of citizenship (Harrison 408).
While the House is led by the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, the Senate is led by the Vice
President, who is currently Joe Biden.
With 435 members in the House, the House of Representatives is known to be the body that
symbolizes the citizens of America. It was intended that the House adhered to the beliefs of the
people more than the Senate did, making the House of Representatives a bit more democratic.
Senators are voted to represent the beliefs of a whole state; while on the other hand, members of

Council Of Chalcedon Essay
However, a diverse group ranging from the monks at Constantinople to Egyptian bishops loyal to
Dioscorus opposed the definition. They considered themselves as Pro Nicene and anti Nestorian,
but they worried that the council was being heretic . Ultimately, the Chalcedonian definition stated
that after the incarnation, Christ was in two natures without mixture, change, division or separation .
Furthermore, part of the disagreement between the Eastern and Western Church was because the
definition stated that Christ is acknowledged in two natures, which come together into one person
and one hypostasis. The critics (some Eastern churches) understood this to side with western
Christology, they felt that it diverged from the teachings of Cyril of Alexandria who said that Christ
has one nature. The church of Alexandria felt that the definition should have stated that Christ is to
be acknowledged as out of two natures and not in two natures . However, some scholars argue that
the language of two natures also derives from Cyril . Ultimately, the assertion of ... Show more

In the case of Nestorianism, if the incarnation was a case of a male son of Mary being indwelt by
the divine son of God, then Jesus Christ is not different from a Christian because Christians believe
that they are indwelt by the son. If that was the case, then the incarnation did not take place. This
would make the doctrine of atonement null and void because it would suggest that Christians were
saved by a human being leading to whether human suffering can atone for sins. In the case of
Eutychianism, if Christ s humanity was swallowed up in his divinity, then the incarnation (God
becoming man) did not really take place, but it seems to be more a case of man extinguished and
lost in God, thereby also making the incarnation null and

Creon Is The Tragic Hero In Antigone
Identifying the tragic hero in Sophocles Antigone has been an ongoing controversy for years. It is
out of the ordinary for there to be two tragic heroes in a Greek tragedy and in Antigone there is
only one. Creon possesses some of the traits that confirms a tragic hero but he does not have all the
paramount traits. The tragic heroin Antigone is indeed Antigone, she embraces all the attitudes of
a true tragic hero. Aristotle describes the traits each character must have to be identified as a
tragic hero. Antigone possesses all of them she is persistent in her behavior, she is trustworthy
and believable, she overcome her conflict within herself, she is a good ethical person and she
remains focused on becoming a better person throughout the drama. A tragic hero also in some
aspect has to go through a tragic event. To be a tragic hero Antigone must primarily be a good
ethical person. Up until the burial of her brother Polynieces, Antigone obeyed all the laws of the
land. The drama portrayed her as compassionate and humane. Antigone s decision to bury her
brother was definitely ethical and respectful, and most people in her position would agree. Antigone

Creon only changes his mind because he is afraid of the things that will happen to him and his

What is stress? According to a journal, Stress is a state of mental tension and worry caused by
problems in your life, works, family and many more. It is also something that causes strong
feelings of worry or anxiety and physical force or pressure. What is that means with stress is in the
eyes of the beholder? It means that others may think differently than I do about stress, how they

The higher amount of glucose level in our body will lead to diabetes.
The fifth effect on your body is depression and anxiety. It s probably no surprise that chronic
stress is connected with higher rates of depression and anxiety. One survey of recent studies
found that people who had stress related to their jobs, like demanding work with few rewards had
an 80% higher risk of developing depression within a few years than people with lower stress.
The next disease is Alzheimer. One animal study found that stress might worsen Alzheimer s
disease, causing its brain lesions to form more quickly. Stress has the potential to slow down the
progression of the disease.
Stress also can accelerate aging of someone that had stress. There s actually evidence that stress
can affect how you age. Stress seemed to accelerate aging about 9 to 17 additional years. One of a
book that I read tells a story about a mother and a daughter that have stress. A research studies their
body condition and they found out that the daughter is actually older than what she looks now.
Those because of the stress power.
Stress also can cause premature death. Clear evidence that we can easily get is in the newspaper.
According to World Health Organization (WHO), Women are more susceptible to depression and

The Marvelous World of Forensic Science What is Forensic Science and how did it begin? What
is its preponderancy in solving crimes? These are some of the questions that some may ask
when they hear the term forensic science. To understand what forensic science is let s look at its
meaning, Forensic Science is the scientific method of gathering and examining information
about the past which is then used in a court of law. Which simply means when a group of
scientist from different fields come together to answer to show the visible truth to what lawyers
may ask. Generally speaking, this is the key to solving many crimes that may not have otherwise
been solved. In real life it is not as glamour s or eye popping as per say the T.V. shows CSI or
Criminal Minds, but none the less is very important in solving crimes. So let s pour a cup of
coffee and take ourselves into the Marvelous World of Forensic Science. There has been many
cases that were left unsolved until modern science developed forensic science. Forensics has
brought a lot of closure to thousands and then some too many families left to grieve over a loved
one with little to no answers to what happened and who did it. In forensic science there are many
departments such as Forensic Psychology, Forensic Pathology, Forensic Anthropology, Crime
Scene Investigation, Criminalistics and Forensic Nursing. There is even branches from these

Charlemagne s Influence On Charlemagne
The life of Charlemagne is one of historical and utter greatness. He ruled in a time of turmoil and
disorder during middle ages in Europe. The successes of his past lineage prepared and propelled
him to take on the tremendous task of expanding, governing and reforming the Frankish Empire.
Charlemagne incredible accomplishment during his sovereignty. For he not only invented an
efficient way to govern his people call feudalism, he also created a way to keep the loyalty to his
empire through inspectors. He led countless conquests against the various adversaries that once
opposed the Holy Roman Empire, which expanded his empire across the greater half of Europe.
With his grand conquests a solidification between the Catholic Church and the State began to take
hold. Charlemagnebeing a keen individual saw great opportunity within the partnership with the
Church especially ones of the monasteries. Using them to usher in the Carolingian renaissance. The
crowning of Charlemagne as Holy Roman Emperor fashioned a turning point that would forever
change the path of Europe. Within years after his death, though, Charlemagne once boundless
empire wasted away. Charlemagne s reign indeed greatly influenced the course of Europe in ways
he had only hoped it would. But as history often shows for every one event there are often several
incantations and interpretations. Charlemagne reign is definitely not an exception to the rule, his

The Issues of Ethics
Issues of Ethics
The two major ethical theories that have the most relevance and prudence to my contemporary
views are utilitarianism and those aligned with the concept of a categorical imperative. The
philosophy of the former of these was widely pioneered by both Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart
Mill. The notion of a categorical imperative was largely popularized by Immanuel Kant. In all
actuality, the efficaciousness of these philosophies is widely determined by the particular moral
dilemma which one is facing. Still, the true value in both of these theories lies in the fact that they
can be applied to a wide variety of situations and help to dictate moral guidance. In many respects,
utilitarianism, which is a branch of philosophy known as consequentialism, presents a diametrically
opposed philosophical stance of that propounded by Kant and his categorical imperative (Boylan,
2009, p. 176). There is an extreme sense of mutability that accompanies the former of these
approaches to ethics, which is attributed to the fact that the behavior that is determined most ethical
depends on the circumstances that result from that behavior. Specifically, the action that produces
the most good, to the most amount of people, is adjudged by utilitarianism to be the proper ethical
decision to make. It is interesting to note that in this philosophy there are varying degrees of good
produced. Quite often, ephemeral good or that which affects a finite amount of people is considered

Korean Pop
Korea had become trendy because it provided what the youth wanted throughout the region. The
phenomenon can be partially explained by noting how Korean popular culture catapulted forward
during the 1990s, leaving much of Asia behind as it abandoned conservatism and censorship,
diversifying, appropriating, absorbing and innovating. In its fusions, it created an Asian equivalent
of European and American pop. Japanese pop, of course, had long had this function throughout the
region, but the 1990s was a time for re examining the Pacific War s legacy, and Korea offered a

Adam s idea of society is that each person can do whatever they want to advance themselves and
each person can pursue happiness in whatever fashion they believe to be the best. Technology
creates new and better ways to do things which allows society to grow and become more

manufacturing and science. With new technology people can do things they never could do or

What happened
During morning routine sick parade I was presented with a 21 year old male soldier experiencing
severe acute, non specific, abdominal pain. Under the supervision of the medical officer (MO) I

Thus allowing me to form a differential diagnosis and rule out certain causes, such as; constipation,
and indigestion. Subsequently, the physical examination enabled me to confirm a diagnosis of acute
abdomen. As the patient was not experiencing any worrying (red flag) symptoms associated with
abdominal emergencies, such as; appendicitis or pancreatitis. However, I did forget certain aspects
of the physical examination and had to be prompted by the MO. Although with more practice such
incidence would be reduced.
Analysis
I was happy that I managed to rule out any distinct causes of the abdominal pain by performing the
examination to collect data, analyse it, and use the results to make an appropriate decision (Schon,
1984). However, had I performed the examination without assistance I may not have gained all the
information required to confirm diagnosis, as I did forget some aspects.
Conclusion
The MO seemed happy with my diagnosis and care plan, though he did highlight the importance of
practicing the physical examination skills in order to become a more competent practitioner.
Overall I feel gaining knowledge and skills in translating a patients history and physical
examination results, has enabled me to become more confident in making a diagnosis and has
improved my decision making skills.

That is an important statement. The other services, the interagencies are dependent on the Army
to provide support to their actions. So as we look to the Army of 2020, as a part of Joint Force
2020, how do we want to shape it? Today, we are an Army that is globally engaged in 150
countries on six of seven continents. We have over 95,000 Soldiers deployed in support of
operations; another 96,000 Soldiers forward stationed. Our strategic posture is a testament to
our flexibility and adaptability as well as our unmatched credibility as the best trained, best
equipped, and best led land force in the world. Moving forward, our Army s primary purpose is
steadfast and resolute: to fight and win our Nation s wars. But we all know that the Army must
be able to do much more than that. Today, we require an Army that is adaptive and innovative,
flexible and agile, integrated and synchronized, lethal and discriminate. Even more critical in
today s complex and uncertain environment, the Army is the decisive arm of the Joint Force in a
broad range of missions. Historically the Army has been focused on a specific set of needs, but
these needs and the means in which they are resourced have changed. So we must fundamentally

Factors Affecting Failing Grades
What are factors affecting academic performance?
Answer:
Many, many factors can affect academic performance, which means how a person does on
schoolwork. The physical condition of the student has a great deal to do with that person s ability
to do a good a good job on anything and to understand anything. For example, if the student has
poor eyesight, he or she might not be able to read well. If the student has a hearing impairment, he
or she might not be able to listen to and understand instructions. If the student has a disease, it
might impair his or her ability to do the required work. A student s socio economic status (SES) can
affect his or her ability to perform well academically. Students with less money might not be able to

A student needs time to be in class, and appropriate time for study. However, there must be time
for family, friends, social activities, and time to just be alone. The key is keeping proper balance.
* Lack of taking advantage of student resources. There is really no reason for academic failure.
Every college and university has an academic learning center where students can receive peer and
faculty tutoring, without charge. Many students fail to seek help. * Attending the wrong college or
university. Some students accept admission into schools they are not familiar with. Thus, they
become depressed with their surroundings. Student must be content with their school, its
environment, and resources. This, in turn has a negative affect on their studies. * Lack of maturity
and discipline. Some students are just not disciplined and lack good organizational skills. They
often fall under the pressure of their peers. Rather than using good discretion, they feel compelled
to follow others (socially), when they really should be attending to their studies. Again, lack of

Coca Cola And The Market Strategy Essay
Coca Cola has also experienced some frustrations in the market. In 2013, the company
introduced a new brand called Coca Cola Life; unfortunately, it is not more than a niche for now
because of its vague marketing segmentation. In 2014, the per capita consumption of soda
products declined by 25% compared to 1994. In recent years, because some developing countries
such as India and Brazil are suffering from volatile economic conditions, their consumers only
have limited disposable income to purchase essential goods. For this reason, the company s sales
often decline in these countries. Coca Cola uses a standardization and segmentation market
strategy. Coca Cola has drinks for all types of markets. Their target market is everyone
depending on the product. For example, Coke target market is 15 25 and 40 and up. Diet Coke
and Coke Zero is targeted for age group from 30 50 who are conscious about their health. Diet
Coke for women and Coke Zero targeted for men (Hill et al., 2014). Powerade targets athletes
between the ages 13 27 and Minute Maid targets between the ages of 1 10 years old and 40 and
up (Elbaz et al., 2011). Coca Cola pursues a broad differentiation strategy as their approach against
competitors. Broad differentiation strategy is when a company differentiates its product in some
way, such as by recognizing different segments or offering different products to each segment (Hill
et al., 2014). Coke creates a product and service that is unique and valued

A Brief Look at Mary Magdalene
As an influential biblical figure, Mary Magdalene has been the subject of numerous works of art.
She has been represented in a variety of tropes and styles; which were subject to the religious,
political, and social standards of the time. Giacomo Galli s Saint Mary Magdalene was painted in
the early seventeenth century in Italy, at the beginning of the Baroqueera. By contorting Magdalene
s body, bathing her in light and encompassing her in darkness, Galli was able to present the viewer
with an image representative of her divided identity.
Galli likely chose to paint the Magdalene because she was one of the most popular saints in
Baroque Italy. As Susan Haskins (author of Mary Magdalen: Myth and Metaphor) notes, from the
thirteenth century, the penitent Magdalene became the most popular image of the saint in Italy, as
the perfect example of a reformed sinner. Magdalene s ______ demonstrated a realistic path of
personal improvement. Her reputation, at the time, revolved around her supposed past as a
prostitute. Historically, this meant that she was cured of a physical ailment and not of prostitution.
However, as it was believed that Magdalene s transformation from prostitute to apostle made her
accessible to the Catholic community, the church exemplified this notion in order to make
Magdalene a suitable role model for repentance.
Religiously charged Baroque paintings of the seventeenth century, such as Galli s Saint Mary
Magdalene, were created by two distinctly

Socrates Argument On Fearing Death
Fearing Death
Socrates is taken to trial by his accusers for damaging and undignified the minds of the youth and
not believing the gods, but believing in his own conception. Basically what Socrates did was
encourage youth to question their authority and values. Socrates argued that he could not be
charged with corrupting the youth because then that would mean that everybody helps the youth.
And if he did not mean to damage the youth then he should be instructed not punished. Socrates
explains that his accusers charge and reasoning are not logical and do not make sense therefore,
he should not be punished. Unfortunately his accusers did not see it the way he did and were
not convinced so not only did he lose the trial, but he was sentenced to death. Even though he
was sentenced to death his sense of self did not diminish, as claimed that death should be looked
at as bad. I will explain the reasons why one might think that we should not fear death. I will also
explain Socrates argument on why we should not fear death. In addition, since I disagree with
Socrates, I will explain the reasons why we, as living organisms, absolutely should fear death.
Socrates states that we should not Fear Death
Socrates says that we, as human beings should not fear death. He says that the only reason we ...

He explains that he believes that there is only one realm for an essence to make its place. And
since our soul has transferred into a different realm, then that means that we must exist in that
world. Socrates clarifies that if every essence goes to one single dimension, then that means every
soul that has ever existed, good or bad, resides there. Socrates expand on that idea saying that there
are many great minds that had passed away before him that he would like to converse and
exchange wisdom with that he had not had the chance to do with while he was

Essay on Narrative Therapy
Abstract
This paper will look at the logic of narrative therapy by focusing on 5 major points. This paper
will begin by discussing how the narrative approach defines and perceives problems. It will
address how narrative therapy views the nature of the relationship between the client and the
professional. This paper will look at how problems are solved using the narrative approach. It will
also focus on three main techniques used in narrative therapy, which will include externalization,
deconstruction and re authoring. This paper will also include a short narrative critique of the
medical model. The Logic of Narrative Therapy Narrative therapy is considered postmodern due to
the fact that it uses a story telling approach to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Kelley (1996) this process is recommended by narrative therapists because it allows
the client to begin to see where the discourse emerged from. The therapist must first just listen to
the story and determine what the client sees as the existing problem (Kelley, 1996). Then the
therapist begins to ask questions with the intention of bringing forth the full meaning of the
problem (Kelley, 1996). In deconstruction the therapist searches for answers as to who all is
involved with the problem, what past events lead up to the problem development, how the problem
changed over time, how the client has been fighting the problem thus far and how the problem is
affecting the client s life (Kelley, 1996).
Kelley (1996) reported that after the therapist has a full understanding of the problem the
deconstruction phase moves on to its second stage. The therapist and the client begin working
together to break down the prevailing story in order to map the influence the problem is having
on the client s life (Kelley, 1996). Mapping the effect of the problem is particularly important
because it lays the foundation of the new story line (Monk, Winslade, Crocket Epston, 1997).
According to Monk, Winslade, Crocket Epston (1997) typically when the effect of the problem is
discussed with the client they begin to feel as if their story has been heard. They

The disease first came to Europe when Italian trade ships returning from a journey through the Black Sea docked a Sicilian port, and it was discovered that many of the seafarers possessed flu like symptoms and black, pus filled blisters. This can be categorized under relocation expansion, because the sailors brought the plague from one place to another with physical movement. Though the ships were ordered to leave, the disease had already taken to the air and the water. It was so highly contagious that even a touch of bacillus germ could kill a person within a day. In just five years, the incredibly efficient disease killed 20 million people all over Europe, and the contagious diffusion resulted in the death of one third of the population. The bubonic plague was eventually subdued, but traces of the same bacteria that caused it can be traced to a recent Ebola outbreak, and the underlying principals of that stimulus diffusion could potentially be profoundly hazardous in the right ... Transformational Opportunities Exist to Integrate the United States Mental Health System Mental illness refers to all diagnosable mental disorders defined as health conditions that are characterized by alterations in thinking, mood or behavior (or some combination thereof) associated with distress and/or impaired functioning. (Williams Torrens, 2008, p. 221) With one in every five American adults experiencing mental illness, the resulting economic burden exceeds $300 billion per year to include approximately $100 billion in direct health care expenditures, $24 billion in disability benefits, and $193 billion in lost earnings. (Insel, 2008) This estimate is conservative as it excludes the components of incarceration, homelessness, comorbid conditions, early mortality and the incalculable costs to families that absorb much of the financial and emotional burdens of these illnesses. Despite the fact mental illness contributes over 6% to the nation s health care spending; the United States (U.S.) mental health system has historically lacked integration with physical medicine and public policy support. (Insel, 2008) The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), though not a panacea, has provided an opportunity to bolster a broken mental health system. The ACA includes a variety of provisions to effect the biggest expansion of mental health and substance abuse services in a generation. • 5. What Is The Theme Of The Kiss By Kate Chopin The Kiss The Kiss is Kate Chopin s short story about a woman scheming to marry a wealthy man. The story was written on September 19, 1894, and first published in Vogue on January 17, 1895. The contents of the story are as follows. The outside was still light, but the curtains were covered inside and the light smoke from the fireplace emitted a dim, strange light on the room, leaving dark shadows. Brantain was sitting in one of these shadows, and he was clenched and uncomfortable. Thanks to the darkness, he could comfortably direct his love filled gaze to the girl sitting in the fireplace. The girl was so beautiful, she had a beautiful skin color for healthy brunette girls, and she seemed very calm as she stroked the silky feather of the cat in her lap. And occasionally, he looked glanced at his friend in the shadows. They were talking about different things, not what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the same way, he described the room as full of deep shadows , reflecting the relationship of Chopin Brantain and Nathalie, not all as they seem (at least for Nathalie). Something that is clear to the readers as they continue to read the story. Chopin seems to be discovering passion and money. Although it is clear that Brantain loved Nathalie at any stage in the story, the reader doubts that this love is mutually shared. There is an attitude saying that Nathalie married Brantain, not love, but rather a comfortable life with Brantain; A rich manwho is aware of the reader (as opposed to Harvy). It is possible that Chopin s women (who wrote the story) might claim that people have established financial security or stability, and instead of marrying love, many women should marry men who can. Holyoke] Introduction: For my history assignment, I chose the document Theodore Roosevelt s The Threat of Japan . After the Meiji Restoration in 1868, modernization took place, bringing Japan to the height of power equivalent to a western power after defeating both China and Russia. United States was maintaining its policy of isolationism but was slowly transitioning to self interest imperialism, keeping control over countries with economic benefit such as open door policy with China. A summary of this article would be Roosevelt s changing ideas of how US should change their foreign policy with regard to the dynamic change in the balance of world powers in 1909. My ... Paragraph 3: Japan s immigration problems Since the opening of Japan from its self imposed seclusion policy in 1854, scholars have studied aboard to acquire Western teachings. The immigration problem manifested once Japanese started immigrating to Hawaii, Canada and US motivated by economic gains and evasion of military services. In the year 1900 alone, 12000 Japanese entered United States and by 1910 the population trebled to a total of 72,517. Although this bought a solution to their demand of cheap labour, another set of problems arise in the form of economic, racial and anti Japanese agitation. Examples included would be San Francisco School Board implemented segregation of education school between Japanese and American children, and California legislature passing offensive legislation aiming at Japanese . This background knowledge is coherent in identifying the social problems such as a race problem and contest is forecasted if nothing is done to keep them out. He understands that his people will not permit the Japanese to come in as citizens and will not tolerate their presences. We had many places to choose from, but we all agreed on going to Yosemite. The reason we chose Yosemite is because we wanted people to stay away from their video games and electronics for a couple of days and actually enjoy what beautiful things God had made and what the outside world has to offer. It was an amazing trip and we did have many unforgettable memories. But one memory I had was on the second day of the trip, it was the day we started to do activities with our group leader. • 8. Education Is Affected By Budget Cuts Introduction Education is affected by budget cuts as it has been for many years in the United States. New policies are enacted for accountability and new legislation passed for increasing budget cuts in education is prevalent (2010).The question that must be asked are states are able to fund education adequately while still meeting the needs of all students. Benefits to state budgets The largest area of state spending is in education. Inside this budget, schools must provide funding for transportation, food, resources in the classroom for all students, and salaries to all employees. Throughout watching this video, the main benefit I could see from state s financing schools are the ability to always have a check and balance to determine if funds are being spent correctly. When I first began teaching, the principal at the time was known to spend money when it was not needed. When she first took over, she spent $16,000 on murals to make our school look pretty, even though we had a major leak in the ceiling. After 3 years of not meeting AYP the state examined the funds that were spent, and the principal was not reassigned the following year. Downside to state budgets To begin with, the most interesting information I learned was how in the near future we will be have to take funds away from the young to help take care of the health care cost of the elderly. If education funds are to be cut in half, the effects will be felt throughout society. What will have to be cut ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This can be done through changing the wording of the question, choosing a different response scale for the question, or reordering the questions in the questionnaire. There are various ways to find out if a survey questionneeds revision, such as identifying grammar and concept errors in the question using specific techniques, or conducting in depth interviews to find out if survey respondents have any issues in answering the survey questions. I will be using questions about news consumption provided by Pew Research Center(Pew) to show how questionnaire improvement can be done. The questions about news consumption were implemented by Pew to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I will use a few different methods. One method is by using the Problem Classification Coding Scheme (CCS). The CCS is a process to test for issues in the question answering processes. It is a series of 28 questions that go through each stage of answering a survey question. It tests to see if there are any issues in any of the states of answering a question (Schaeffer and Dykema, 2011:919). Another method is to the Question Understanding Aid (QUAID). QUAID is a mechanism to test for issues in wording of a survey question, such as vague words or question length or even grammatical issues. The goal of QUAID is to ensure that each question is grammatically correct, and easy for the respondent to comprehend (Schaeffer and Dykema, 2011, 921). A third method and last method is to use cognitive interviews. Cognitive interviews are small group discussions to talk about issues or topics to help in the process of writing survey questions and making the survey process go quicker (BCB, 2014:434). All three methods will be used for questionnaire improvement. For the cognitive interviews, two interviews were done with people I knew. A summary about the people interviewed is presented in Table 1. Analysis After conducting the cognitive interviews and using the CCS and QUAID, there are a few problems present. For each question, the reference period is vague. The preamble asks for general news habits. This is a problem since general could have very different meanings ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Avatar Movie Analysis Avatar is a blockbuster film from 2009 and one of my most favorite Sci fi films of all time. The film was directed by James Cameron, who is known for directing films like Titanic (1997), Aliens (1986), and the Terminator (1984), all of which helped shape the film industry into what it is today. Although at the time, there was a recession and people were trying to save money, this movie became the highest grossing film in at the time. The movie provided stunning 3D technology unlike any other movie and this was one of the reasons that made people want to go watch the film. From visual effects to the camera angles, James Camerondirected this movie to make the audience feel like they are in the movie. Although the film looked amazing, there were messages and themes inside the film that made it such a success. The film provoked discussions about various messages and themes embedded inside the film, such as terrorism, Imperialism, religious connections, and connections to current world. Such messages can be clearly seen throughout the plot of the movie. The plot of the movie is very simple, it takes place the future, where humans are looking to other planets for resources and this is a very likely future of the current human race because Earth is limited on resources and as we run out of resources we will have to look towards other planets for resources. • 14. Comparing Augustine de Hippo and Mohammed to the Idea of a... Greek and Roman cultural values pervaded the Western religious society and made it possible for a series of Christian and Muslim religious individuals to be associated with historic figures present in Ancient Greece and Rome. While the modern society has a different understanding of the concept of the traditional hero, society during the early centuries perceived heroes as being individuals who possessed a series of attributes related to religious ideas and to a general attitude that promoted moral behavior. Individuals like Augustine de Hippo and Mohammed have come to be seen as having several attributes that linked them to the idea of the classic Greek hero. It is surely surprising that religion has adopted a pagan Greek term with the purpose of trying to describe some of its most notable figures. It is not necessarily that Augustine de Hippo and Mohammed were considered to possess superhuman abilities, as people came to associate them with heroes because they were dedicated to assisting the masses and because they were predisposed to doing good. In addition to being perceived as one of the most important attributes in a saint, heroism actually started to be praised by Christians as one of the principal qualities in any true Christian. Augustine de Hippo basically believed that in order to be seen by God as a person who was capable to serve divinity, the respective individual needed to be familiar with the attitudes that he or she needed to put across and with the fact ... Oprah Winfrey Oprah Winfrey displays a common occurrence of struggle in the everyday life of each individual across the world. Struggle is a universal obstacle everyone faces some more than others. While struggling may bring strength to some, the hardship can take a toll on others. People all across America face some type of struggle whether it be clearly seen or hidden underneath the surface. One of the main struggles that children in America face today is poverty. Living in poverty can not only be detrimental to them everyday, but to their future. Throughout history we have tried to redress this issue several ways. Rather than providing them with handed out resources, people need to give poverty stricken children the tools to create a better life for themselves. Childhood poverty in the United States can be ameliorated through education. 51% of children in the United States are in poverty.(Huffington Post) This statistic displays that more than half of the adolescents in the United States battle with the issue of poverty everyday. The number of children facing this struggle continues to grow every year. These children due to their low economic status set them in a disadvantaged position in their education. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, Holden loses his brother Allie to leukemia and multiple things happens to him in the story that is stressing him out and driving him nuts. That is why we find out at the end of the novel that he is checked into a mental hospital. Holden is very immature, he is a habitual liar, and he can drift off during the midst of something because he isn t focused. Holden has shown us throughout the novel that he is mentally unstable and that is why he is clearly not ready to be released into civilization, he might need to stay here longer. Holden is very immature and cannot act his age for anything. In the beginning of the story, Holden was very immature and self centered and he often did very immature things, but he wanted to be an adult. This is very contradicting considering that he is very immature. In the novel, Holden states, Boy! I said. I also say Boy! quite a lot. Partly because I have a lousy vocabulary and partly because I act quite young for my age sometimes. I was sixteen then, and I m seventeen now, and sometimes I act like I m about thirteen. (Salinger 16). This shows how Holden is very immature and needs to start acting his age and this could be dangerous to society. This is why he needs to stay inside the mental facility. Paragraph 1 The Geyser Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park, U.S.A. is a geyser that has a relatively isolated source of seismic noise. The seismic behavior of this one geyser is similar to many volcanoes observed. Paragraph 2 Old Faithful differs from other volcanoes because the conduit is constantly open, and rock fracturing is not a process responsible for the seismicity. Another difference is that instead of using viscous magma the geyser uses inviscid H2O. Paragraph 3 Water rises into the reservoir as recharge occurs which suggests that there are two large storage regions in the geyser. The late President, Sheikh Zayid bin Sultan al Nahyan, ruled the UAE from the start of its sovereignty all the way until his death in 2004 (Rugh, 1997, p. 18). Zayid implemented a federal monarchy across the state. Unlike many other monarchies, the UAE has sustained great rule while maintaing peace with its people. Many factors influence this trend and without them the regime of the UAE would most likely fail. The federal government oversees major state issues such as immigration, foreign policy, public health, wealth, transportation, and communications (Heard Bey, 2005, p. 361). But the individual emirates still have great amounts of power over the residents. The emirates each regulate the economy specific to its land and the money is given back to the citizens (Rugh, 1997, p.17). Although the federal government holds the most power, the emirates are still allowed to function with a degree of independence. The familial and traditional roles held by the leaders of the UAE establish a long lasting legitimacy throughout the state. The Prime Minister, Vice President, and Sheikh of Dubai is Muhammad Bin Rashid Al Maktum (CIA, 2014). Khalifa bin Zayid was never formally elected to office, rather he was unanimously appointed to the seat on the same day of his father s funeral. Because of the legacy and respect Sheikh Zayid created, his son entered office with the entire UAE s support. The UAE functions tremendously through this charismatic and traditional legitimacy; Sheikh Zayid was looked up to as a god for his 43 year reign of power. Especially in developed countries, this problem is always boycotted, but on the other hand it is an opportunity for people in underdeveloped countries to change their lives. Although sweatshop is considered as a complex issue with underpayment and underworking environment, they are beneficial to change the old ideologies, economic growth, and fair working conditions. Firstly, women choose to work in sweatshops in developing countries because this is their only source step out of unavailable and unthinkable situation. Women in these countries tolerated outdated beliefs, such as being restricted to domestic chores and relying on their husbands. Their lives are always in a vicious circle that they want to escape but do not know the right way, so working in sweatshops provide women not only chance to create stable income, but also sense of their own independence. As the writer mentions that with the small income from garment sweatshop, women in Bangladesh can manage their finances, have their own choice in marriage and having children (Sachs, quoted in Garyfalakis, para5). Moreover, they have chance to go to school and gain their special skills. For example, earning $1 to $2 in Indonesia or Bangladesh sounds unbelievable, but it can help a woman feed her kids and restrict diarrhea disease (Kristof and Wudunn, 2000). Furthermore, part of the disagreement between the Eastern and Western Church was because the definition stated that Christ is acknowledged in two natures, which come together into one person and one hypostasis. The critics (some Eastern churches) understood this to side with western Christology, they felt that it diverged from the teachings of Cyril of Alexandria who said that Christ has one nature. • 33. The Issues of Ethics Issues of Ethics The two major ethical theories that have the most relevance and prudence to my contemporary views are utilitarianism and those aligned with the concept of a categorical imperative. The philosophy of the former of these was widely pioneered by both Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill. The notion of a categorical imperative was largely popularized by Immanuel Kant. In all actuality, the efficaciousness of these philosophies is widely determined by the particular moral dilemma which one is facing. Still, the true value in both of these theories lies in the fact that they can be applied to a wide variety of situations and help to dictate moral guidance. In many respects, utilitarianism, which is a branch of philosophy known as consequentialism, presents a diametrically opposed philosophical stance of that propounded by Kant and his categorical imperative (Boylan, 2009, p. 176). There is an extreme sense of mutability that accompanies the former of these approaches to ethics, which is attributed to the fact that the behavior that is determined most ethical depends on the circumstances that result from that behavior. Specifically, the action that produces the most good, to the most amount of people, is adjudged by utilitarianism to be the proper ethical decision to make. It is interesting to note that in this philosophy there are varying degrees of good produced. Quite often, ephemeral good or that which affects a finite amount of people is considered lesser ... Analysis I was happy that I managed to rule out any distinct causes of the abdominal pain by performing the examination to collect data, analyse it, and use the results to make an appropriate decision (Schon, 1984). However, had I performed the examination without assistance I may not have gained all the information required to confirm diagnosis, as I did forget some aspects. Conclusion The MO seemed happy with my diagnosis and care plan, though he did highlight the importance of practicing the physical examination skills in order to become a more competent practitioner. Overall I feel gaining knowledge and skills in translating a patients history and physical examination results, has enabled me to become more confident in making a diagnosis and has improved my decision making skills. Action Plan In order to become a more capable and effective practitioner I must continue to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Odierno AUSA Winter Symposium1 The position of strength that the Army has is that everyone has seen over the last ten years what our Army has done, and is capable of. Lots of people want to put the Army in a box. They want to say this is what the Army can do they can do this little thing over here. I am here to tell them that the Army is probably the most flexible, adaptable organization across all the services, and that we can respond and be capable anywhere any time to support any Combatant... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That is an important statement. The other services, the interagencies are dependent on the Army to provide support to their actions. So as we look to the Army of 2020, as a part of Joint Force 2020, how do we want to shape it? Today, we are an Army that is globally engaged in 150 countries on six of seven continents. We have over 95,000 Soldiers deployed in support of operations; another 96,000 Soldiers forward stationed. Our strategic posture is a testament to our flexibility and adaptability as well as our unmatched credibility as the best trained, best equipped, and best led land force in the world. Moving forward, our Army s primary purpose is steadfast and resolute: to fight and win our Nation s wars. But we all know that the Army must be able to do much more than that. Today, we require an Army that is adaptive and innovative, flexible and agile, integrated and synchronized, lethal and discriminate. Even more critical in today s complex and uncertain environment, the Army is the decisive arm of the Joint Force in a broad range of missions. Historically the Army has been focused on a specific set of needs, but these needs and the means in which they are resourced have changed. So we must fundamentally change how we do business. As we keep adding rocks to our Soldiers rucksacks, all leaders must remain cognizant over time. Everyone s load can get too heavy and cause permanent wear and tear. So it is a good idea to ... However, there must be time for family, friends, social activities, and time to just be alone. The key is keeping proper balance. * Lack of taking advantage of student resources. • 42. Coca Cola And The Market Strategy Essay Coca Cola has also experienced some frustrations in the market. In 2013, the company introduced a new brand called Coca Cola Life; unfortunately, it is not more than a niche for now because of its vague marketing segmentation. In 2014, the per capita consumption of soda products declined by 25% compared to 1994. In recent years, because some developing countries such as India and Brazil are suffering from volatile economic conditions, their consumers only have limited disposable income to purchase essential goods. For this reason, the company s sales often decline in these countries. Coca Cola uses a standardization and segmentation market strategy. Coca Cola has drinks for all types of markets. Their target market is everyone depending on the product. For example, Coke target market is 15 25 and 40 and up. Diet Coke and Coke Zero is targeted for age group from 30 50 who are conscious about their health. Diet Coke for women and Coke Zero targeted for men (Hill et al., 2014). Powerade targets athletes between the ages 13 27 and Minute Maid targets between the ages of 1 10 years old and 40 and up (Elbaz et al., 2011). Coca Cola pursues a broad differentiation strategy as their approach against competitors. Broad differentiation strategy is when a company differentiates its product in some way, such as by recognizing different segments or offering different products to each segment (Hill et al., 2014). Coke creates a product and service that is unique and valued ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. A Brief Look at Mary Magdalene As an influential biblical figure, Mary Magdalene has been the subject of numerous works of art. She has been represented in a variety of tropes and styles; which were subject to the religious, political, and social standards of the time. Giacomo Galli s Saint Mary Magdalene was painted in the early seventeenth century in Italy, at the beginning of the Baroqueera. By contorting Magdalene s body, bathing her in light and encompassing her in darkness, Galli was able to present the viewer with an image representative of her divided identity. Galli likely chose to paint the Magdalene because she was one of the most popular saints in Baroque Italy. As Susan Haskins (author of Mary Magdalen: Myth and Metaphor) notes, from the thirteenth century, the penitent Magdalene became the most popular image of the saint in Italy, as the perfect example of a reformed sinner. Magdalene s ______ demonstrated a realistic path of personal improvement. Her reputation, at the time, revolved around her supposed past as a prostitute. Historically, this meant that she was cured of a physical ailment and not of prostitution. However, as it was believed that Magdalene s transformation from prostitute to apostle made her accessible to the Catholic community, the church exemplified this notion in order to make Magdalene a suitable role model for repentance. Religiously charged Baroque paintings of the seventeenth century, such as Galli s Saint Mary Magdalene, were created by two distinctly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Socrates Argument On Fearing Death Fearing Death Socrates is taken to trial by his accusers for damaging and undignified the minds of the youth and not believing the gods, but believing in his own conception. Basically what Socrates did was encourage youth to question their authority and values. Socrates argued that he could not be charged with corrupting the youth because then that would mean that everybody helps the youth. And if he did not mean to damage the youth then he should be instructed not punished. Socrates explains that his accusers charge and reasoning are not logical and do not make sense therefore, he should not be punished. Unfortunately his accusers did not see it the way he did and were not convinced so not only did he lose the trial, but he was sentenced to death. Even though he was sentenced to death his sense of self did not diminish, as claimed that death should be looked at as bad. I will explain the reasons why one might think that we should not fear death. I will also explain Socrates argument on why we should not fear death. In addition, since I disagree with Socrates, I will explain the reasons why we, as living organisms, absolutely should fear death. According to Kelley (1996) this process is recommended by narrative therapists because it allows the client to begin to see where the discourse emerged from. The therapist must first just listen to the story and determine what the client sees as the existing problem (Kelley, 1996). Then the therapist begins to ask questions with the intention of bringing forth the full meaning of the problem (Kelley, 1996). In deconstruction the therapist searches for answers as to who all is involved with the problem, what past events lead up to the problem development, how the problem changed over time, how the client has been fighting the problem thus far and how the problem is affecting the client s life (Kelley, 1996). Kelley (1996) reported that after the therapist has a full understanding of the problem the deconstruction phase moves on to its second stage. The therapist and the client begin working together to break down the prevailing story in order to map the influence the problem is having on the client s life (Kelley, 1996). Mapping the effect of the problem is particularly important because it lays the foundation of the new story line (Monk, Winslade, Crocket Epston, 1997). According to Monk, Winslade, Crocket Epston (1997) typically when the effect of the problem is discussed with the client they begin to feel as if their story has been heard. They ...
