This document outlines a reading program for students in Years 7 through 9. It discusses having fortnightly independent reading lessons within English classes each year. It also describes daily silent reading time and initiatives to promote reading across subjects and encourage reading at home with parents. The goal is to map and track students' reading progress over multiple years.

1. Reading
Every teacher is a
teacher of reading!

2. Year 7
• Have fortnightly IL lessons
within English
• will have their ATR assessed
• reading will be mapped and
tracked over the year
• targets given & shared with
tutor /parent (T3/4)

3. Year 8
• have fortnightly IL lessons within
English
• their ATR data from the end of
year 7 will be shared with tutors.

4. Year 9
• Have fortnightly ‘Browse and
Borrow’ sessions (15 mins) via
English
• have a Genre focussed session
once a term in English

5. DEAR

• Fridays Week B (Big Friday)
