Clare Sisisky, Director of International Education at Collegiate School, proposes a program for students to collaborate across borders to address pressing global problems. The program aims to develop students' leadership and communication skills while challenging them and allowing personal connections. Global issues like climate change, biodiversity loss, and water deficits require transnational solutions involving multiple stakeholders. The goal is for the program to transform the entire school community. Research shows traits like zest, grit, and social intelligence best predict outstanding achievement, which this program aims to cultivate. Alternate models, challenges, and questions will also be discussed.

The three day Cochrane Alberta Pathways to Sustainability conference in May 2009 brought together partners to build the capacity of Alberta communities to embrace sustainability. It featured keynote speakers on sustainability topics and experiential workshops on the five dimensions of sustainability: environment, economy, society, culture and governance. Through interactive activities, participants learned about municipal sustainability planning processes and applied them to real community challenges. The conference also included a marketplace of sustainability solutions and aimed to develop an ongoing sustainability network across Alberta.
The document presents the Global Water Partnership's (GWP) global strategy for 2009-2013. The vision is a water secure world with equitable access to water resources and improved quality of life. The mission is to support sustainable water management at all levels through strategic and integrated multi-stakeholder approaches. The strategy has four goals - promote integrated water resources management; address critical challenges like climate change and food security; reinforce knowledge sharing; and build a stronger network. It outlines outcomes and actions to achieve these goals through improved governance, capacity building, advocacy, and organizational change. The strategy was developed during an uncertain economic time but aims to position GWP to address urgent water challenges.

Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.Christina Parmionova
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)
International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)
Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)
North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC)
North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)
South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO)
South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)
Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)
Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC)
The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.
A Guide to AI for Smarter Nonprofits - Dr. Cori Faklaris, UNC CharlotteCori Faklaris
Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.

9. Landslide risk assessment in Saint Vincent and
the Grenadines| Coastal, Mountain, Urban/Peri-
Urban Erik Nordman, ph.D. GVSU
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a disaster
prone archipelagic country in the southern
Caribbean. The island of Saint Vincent is volcanic,
with steep slopes and little level ground. Although
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are located in
the Caribbean, its southerly location protects it
from most hurricanes. However, it is prone to
intense storms that hammer the islands with
precipitation and strong winds. The combination
creates a substantial risk for landslides and
erosion along the rugged landscape. - RCE

I have so often thought back to our time a Shelburne Farms and am so thankful to the hospitality of the Vermont RCE, Meghan,
Non Formal educational programming - including this conference which was coordinated by our USGBC chapter.
We have been revisiting our Climate Justice work and Community Collaboration shifting the Community Sustainability Partnership that was a critical component to our RCE designation in 2007 - to this - Community Collaboration on Climate Change. Using methods of community co-creation we have re structured and reengaged our community and focus on Climate Change.
Opportunities for engaging our youth. For High School aged students we will again host the Youth Virtual Conference Spring 2021. Dates TBD
Our 8th (and probably last) Design Competition focused on solving Wicked Problems to meet Circular economy strategies. Team registration deadlines due November 9, 2020. See the www.wegeprize.org for more information on networking to find teams, office hours to discuss strategies and/or contact me with questions.
The Universities have each been working on a variety if initiatives. Together we are hosting this virtual conference next week for faculty and students in Michigan focused on Climate Justice and Public Policy - an effort to Get Out the Vote. For more information see the link.
With that I will introduce my colleague Dr. Erik Nordham to present an overview of his work on a soon to be published by the UNU - Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
