Raphael was an Italian painter and architect considered to be one of the greatest artists of the High Renaissance period. Some of his most famous works include The School of Athens, The Transfiguration, and The Sistine Madonna. He was born in 1483 in Urbino, Italy and died in 1520 in Rome at the young age of 37. During his career, Raphael produced works that showed his dramatic style developing, like Resurrection of Christ, and created masterpieces during his Florentine and Roman periods for the Vatican and other important patrons.
