Persuasive Essay On Athletes
Jermichael Finley was a tight end for the Green Bay Packers, who was fighting a back injury for
some part of the year. He took a strange hit at the end of the game and was not able to get up. He
had no control, couldn't breathe or move. He looked up to his teammates and they could see the fear
inside of his eyes. He was carried off the field on a stretcher and he asked a trainer, "Will I play
football again?" The trainer said, "I cannot answer that yet." (Mark Mravic) He never was on an
NFL team again. He was hurt enough to the point where he couldn't get back to a competitive level.
Injuries are real, and we need protect defenseless players.
All I almost ever see on Sportscenter, Bleacher Report or any other sports news app is injury
updates. Injuries happen too frequently in sports. Some people don't even think about how awful this
problem really is. I believe that there is something we can do to protect athletes and avoid injuries
before they happen. Athletes are not protected enough in sports.
The injuries players face in football are awful. It's a high risk sport. Players of the sport retire so
early from the NFL because of the massive hits. It really takes a toll on their body. Some players
retire by thirty years old for reasons like injuries. ACL/MCL tears are the most common injury that
are actually serious. Some players in this sport are too big to tackle in their upper body, so they get
tackled in their lower body, like their knees. This is the cause of ACL/MCL

National Football Game Analysis
The modern National Football League, more commonly known as the NFL, has been around since
1924. It consists of thirty–two teams, spread out in eight divisions inside two conferences, the AFC
and the NFC. The season is relatively short, with only sixteen regular season games. Only twelve
teams make the playoffs, with four receiving a first–round bye. The third round, the AFC and NFC
Championships, determine who will play in the Superbowl for a chance at a winning title and glory.
The games are single elimination, and thus if a team hopes to win the Vince Lombardi trophy at the
Superbowl, it is imperative they win every game after the regular season finishes. On January 18th,
2015, the New England Patriots faced off against the visiting Indianapolis ... Show more content on

Even though DeflateGate was still a key issue in the league, Brady was still out for the first four
games of the year, forcing the Patriots to use rookie quarterbacks (Bedard 66). Jimmy Garoppolo, a
second round pick in the 2014 draft, was expected to start the first four games, putting massive
pressure on him and the Patriots' defensive line to increase their performances (Bedard 66). Bedard
writes that under Brady, the Patriots defense and offence both finished in the top ten among all NFL
teams in 2015, setting the bar very high for their backup quarterbacks. All these disadvantages given
to the Patriots brought Goodell's reputation into question, and even though Goodell got to punish
Brady, he may have caused his image harm by continuing to fight for his punishment to be accepted.
A federal judge, when Brady presented his formal legal appeal, concluded that Goodell's punishment
was outside his power, seeing as "The NFL had a punishment for tampering with game equipment,
and it wasn't a particularly large one: a fine of $25,000. Instead, Goodell ended up fining the Patriots
$1 million, taking two draft picks. And then on top of that, he suspended Brady, even though the
NFL's manual prescribes a team punishment rather than a player punishment" (Sherman). The judge
decides, "It is clear that the arbitrator 'must

Dangers Of Concussions In Football
Football is the most popular sport in the U.S. About 1.4 million people watch the NFL season and
about 111.9 million people watch the NFL Super Bowl. Although it is the most popular sport is it the
most dangerous? There are many people getting concussions, injuries to the Meniscus, Groin Pull,
Hamstring pull, etc. It is rare for pro football players to obtain injuries, but it is more common for
high school and college football players to get injuries, sometimes serious. The NFL does notice that
football is a dangerous sport and assign many protections like pads and helmets, but it doesn't stop
kids from getting serious injuries. Football players are known for getting crazy injuries. Injuries tend
to happen to high school and college players because pro players know how to avoid getting
injuries. A study in 2007 revealed that about 7.23% of high school students got serious head injuries
and about 0.67% for college players. There are so many injuries football players get but the most
common are leg injuries like injuries to the Meniscus, Groin Pull, Hamstring Pull, Tear, or Strain,
Iliotibial Band Syndrome.Pulled or Strained Calf Muscle. The sad thing is that there are kids that get
these kinds of injuries and don't get the right amount of rest time because of coach's urging kids to
shake it off and get back on the field, putting them at risk of getting a serious injury to their legs.

Tom Brady: A True Hero
Sports fans look up to athletes and inspire to resemble their favorite athlete. Peyton Manning
inspired fans, by revolutionizing the quarterback position. Likewise, Tim Duncan entertained fans,
by playing at a consistent level of greatness night in and night out. In addition, Joe Montana was the
master of the comeback, leading his team for game–winning touchdowns under the most pressure.
All of these amazing Hall of Fame players´ only possess a few of Tom Brady's traits that made him
the greatest football player of all time. Thus Brady inspires many people to compete and be the best
they can be, he also brought hope to sports fans which made Tom Brady a hero.

He seems to be immortal for playing at such a high level for so long. Brady has broken virtually
every record and he does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Keep in mind Peyton
Manning, who was thirty–nine years old last year threw only nine touchdowns and seventeen
interceptions. On the other hand, Brady threw for twenty–eight touchdowns and two interceptions
while missing the first four games of the season. It's important to realize Brady has won five Super
Bowls and four Super Bowl MVPs. He also played in nine Super Bowls and has the most wins ever
by a player with two hundred and eight, along with most passing yards in a Super Bowl most
completions threw in a Super Bowl. In addition, he has the most Super Bowl fourth quarter
comebacks and most game–winning drives in the postseason. He also broke most of the playoff
passing records for his career such as passing yards, touchdowns, completions, etc. Some of the

Movie Report : Cinderella Stories
Abstract
The reason I decided to research and write about cinderella stories in sports is very simple, they
make sports fun and exciting. Everyone loves to root on the underdogs and see them win the "David
vs. Goliath" battle. There are so many different cinderella stories to choose from while they spread
throughout every sport. While researching, I found that although there have been thousands of them,
some cinderella stories get more publicity than others. Some stories get told more than others for
some reason, why is that? This essay will help us all understand that question a little better.
Cinderella stories are constantly arising and are one of the reasons sports are so enjoyable. It is
important to conduct this research because it needs to be brought to people's attention that sports are
more than just a game with a winner and a loser. Sports are stories that are told through action.
Sports introduce us to cinderella stories who make our experience that much more enjoyable.
Cinderella stories are a huge part of the athletic world and they deserve so much more attention. The
main point of this research is to provide people with a better understanding to who and what
cinderella stories truly are. Why they are considered cinderella stories and why their stories deserve
to be told. Keywords: Cinderella Story, Sports

Comparing The Two Sport Societies
Comparison Of the Two Sport Societies Comparing these two sports societies may have seemed to
be a difficult task before reading the descriptions of each. After reading and researching, it is very
clear to me that there are specific norms each share, despite the fact that they are for different sports.
In each nation, there are similarities in the dedication that each society has towards their given sport.
Even though people may not have been dying in arguments over the sport in the American society,
there is still a sense of the same dedication and fanaticism. Another thing about the societies that is
comparable is the fan base that each society presents towards their given sport. Both groups are very
large, intensely loyal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As you can see from author Williams, more and more Americans are adopting England's societal
sports norms. Things happening between the NFL and England's sports society have really taken off
to another level, and make Williams story look like baby steps. This gradual progress aside, at the
end of the day American football will never be as popular (accepted) in England as soccer, just like
soccer will never be as popular as football here in the states. That is the only conclusion that can be
reached to anyone consider the facts fairly. Ultimately, I believe that it will be these cultural
differences that will be the most important obstacle/barrier to the NFL's efforts to expand globally.
The NFL's Effort to Export American Football to International Markets Throughout the history of
the NFL, there have been several attempts at globalizing the league. In the early 1990s, the NFL

be friendly, they even try to push each other to become better football players. Peyton Manning is a

Their teams have faced each other 17 times. In those 17 times Tom has won 11 times and Peyton has
won 6, but there has been many close calls (Gelhar). Tom and Peyton didn't win without a fight. In
November 2003, Peyton was playing for the Colts; Manning fumbled in the first quarter, and was
sacked by player Mike Vrabel so the Patriots had the ball. This gave Brady the opportunity to start
with a 17–0 lead, Manning didn't let that discourage him because he came back and made Brady
fight for his win all the way till the end, Patriots 38– Colts 34 (Gelhar). Another amazing game was
November 15, 2009, this game showed the players trying to outdo each other to the very end.
Manning came out first, scoring a beautiful 7 points within a few minutes; but then at 2nd and 10 the
Patriots are dominating the game with 24–7 "New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts on

zone when his player is being blocked by two of the Colts defense, and then the ball was

How to make the NFL great again!
1) The professional sports leagues need to partner with the major sportsbooks/casinos
2) Continue to develop direct–to–consumer broadcast formats
3) Improve the game flow and shorten the game length
The National Football League
The NFL is comprised of 32 teams that compete for the Lombardi Trophy every year. Each team
plays 16 regular season games over a 17–week span. The league is divided into two conferences, the
AFC and the NFC. The final team remaining from the AFC and NFC competes against each other in
the championship game, known as the Super Bowl.
Most of the NFL's revenue comes from the national television deals. These television deals are
highly sought after and worth billions of dollars. After the television deals, the other sources of
revenue are corporate sponsorships, licensing, and merchandise sales. (Novy–Williams)
The National Football League on top
In a Gallup poll conducted in December of last year, football came out on top, with 37% of
Americans stating it as their favorite sport to watch. Next came basketball at 11% and then baseball
at 9%. At its peak, the NFL was the most popular in 2007 at 43%. Since 1964, the NFL has
remained America's favorite sport to watch (Gallup).

The former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo said Jones was like a heroin addict, saying that Jones'
heroin was money. Jones retaliated by saying "We would make the players and teams in this league
more money if we were all responsible for our own marketing. The more you grow the pie, the more
you grow the league. People say I'm a maverick and not a team player, but I believe in revenue–
sharing. I just think there's more revenue to share out there" (King 100). On August 3, 1995, Jones
announced a deal with Pepsi that allowed that company to become the official supplier of soft drinks
at Texas Stadium; a stadium which Jones owns. The league disagreed because Coke was already the
NFL's official soft drink sponsor. But 10 days later, New England Patriot owner Robert Kraft, who
owns Foxboro Stadium, unveiled a similar deal with Pepsi; and no one seemed upset around the
league. Jones also signed Deion Sanders last year to a $35 million contract with Dallas. Around the
league there was grumbling that Jones was abusing the salary cap of the NFL. Of course the San
Francisco 49ers had done the same thing for the same player a year before. Jones' contributions and
innovations in the areas of marketing, corporate sponsorships, television, stadium management,
stadium development and community service have made a visible imprint on the ever evolving face
of professional sports in America.

New England Patriots : 6-0
1. New England Patriots: 6–0 (1) For the third time in the Tom Brady era, the Patriots are 6–0. The
other two times (2004 and 2007) the team went on to play in the Super Bowl era. Tom Brady is
arguably playing the best football of his career. The team is extremely versatile, co constantly
adapting their game plans to fit their opponents. One week after running up a storm against the
Colts, the Patriots ran the ball a mere nine times, five oh which were by Tom Brady. The Patriots get
better and better each week. The team continues to impress me. They have yet to be 100 percent
healthy, and despite this, the team is clearly the best in the NFL. 2. Cincinnati Bengals: 6–0 (2) I say
it every week and I'll say it again. I am all in on the Bengals this season. Andy Dalton has been
spectacular thus far, throwing 14 touchdowns to just two interceptions. Of all the undefeated teams,
the Bengals have been the most tested and it doesn't get any easier from here as the team's next two
opponents are the Steelers and the Browns. 3. Green Bay Packers: 6–0 (3) Coming off of their bye
week, the Packers finally have a chance to get healthy. Despite, an abundance of injuries the team
has still looked like one of the best teams in the entire NFL. This week they are taking on another
undefeated team in the Broncos. I expect Eddie Lacy to have a much bigger role in the offense this
week, as according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, he has looked much healthier than he did the
last

Case Analysis : ' Deflategate ' Scandal
Kevin Lane
The "Deflategate" scandal is a case that involves the four time superbowl championship team, the
New England Patriots, and their potential hall of fame quarterback, Tom Brady. Tom Brady and the
New England Patriots were accused of allegedly tampering with the game footballs used in the AFC
Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts in the 2015 season. In this game, the Patriots
defeated the Colts 45–7 and went on to to defeat the Seattle Seahawks 28–24 in the 2015
Superbowl.
Many people, right away, are probably thinking – "What is the big advantage of an under inflated
football?" A deflated football gives the team using it a huge advantage. A physics professor, Mike
Eads, from Northern Illinois University explain in terms of physics why a deflated football is an
advantage,
The higher the pressure, the harder and more firm the football becomes. Conversely, the lower the
pressure, the more give the ball has, potentially making it easier to catch in cold, slick weather. But
lighter balls are also more influenced by air resistance. (Pigskin Physics)
It allows for the ball to be handled more easily, especially in cold or wet weather. Taking the air out
of a football allows for more grip of the ball; therefore making it easier to throw, catch, and carry.
The official rules of the National Football League regarding the football itself are clearly stated in
the rule book and this regulation states,

Tom Brady : Nfl History
We are here today to recognize and celebrate Tom Brady becoming the winningest quarterback in
NFL history. The 4th of December marked the time where Tom's number of wins exceeded Peyton
Manning 's to mark him as the quarterback with the most wins in NFL history. 201 is the number
and everyone in New England has been diligently counting Tom's wins since Peyton Manning
retired. Like every New England sports fan, Tom is my guy and I will put my money on him against
any opponent. You may think I'm being too informal when I address Tom Brady as Tom, but it's
what we do in New England. 99% of us do not have a direct relationship with Tom, but we have an
indescribable connection that gives us the right to call him Tom. Tom's preparation to break this
record began with his high school football career for Junípero Serra High School. When he first took
the field for the Padres, he only had one vision of what kind of quarterback he wanted to be. Tom
wanted to wear a red and gold jersey and lead his team to a Super Bowl victory like Joe Montana
once did for the San Francisco 49ers. Tom's career continued at the University of Michigan in Ann
Arbor. Tom was struggling to grab the attention of college coaches at first, but his father helped him
make a highlight reel of his best high school plays which eventually grabbed the attention of the
University of Michigan. As the starting quarterback he earned the title of the "Comeback Kid" and
led the Wolverines to victories at the '99 Citrus

The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Michael Jordan, one of the best basketball players to have ever played the game, once said, "there is
no such thing as the perfect player and I don't believe there is only one greatest player either." As
time has taken a toll on professional sports, they are becoming more and more corrupt. Players are
not realizing the truth behind Jordan's statement and more and more players are starting to believe
that its necessary to cheat in order to keep them a step ahead of their peers. Fans are also putting
more pressure on these athletes by gambling. These star athletes now not only feel like they need to
beat their opponents but they have to beat them enough to also win the spread. Based on various
research and the novels, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Boost by Kathy Mackel sports
are being corrupted by players cheating, players not being able to stay out of trouble, and fans
gambling more frequently as time goes on. Athletes are so much more than just big men with the
natural ability to play a game. An athlete is a hero, a role model, and someone young boys and girls
grow up aspiring to be. Athletes give hope to so many children that if they work hard their dreams
can also come true. However, more recently athletes have been sending the wrong message to our
youth, and future generations of professional athletes. We are finding out more often than in past
years now that our hometown heroes are actually staring us in the wrong direction. Lance

Argumentative Essay On Patriots
With a 27–0 victory over the Houston Texans last Thursday, the New England Patriots continued
their dominance. The Patriots were without future Hall of Famer Tom Brady, due to his Deflategate

seem to matter who is under center for the Patriots, which continue to win in impressive fashion.
Thursday night, rookie Jacoby Brissett was the lone quarterback on the active roster. Brissett, a
third–round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft from North Carolina State, did exactly what was needed for
the Patriots to remain undefeated (3–0). Brissett's highlight of the night came late in the first quarter,

How about Wes Welker, who was basically a special teams/practice squad player until he signed
with New England? Let's also not forget 2007, when Brady had Randy Moss shattered virtually
every passing record, including touchdown passes (50) and touchdown catches (23) respectively.
New England also set the record for points in a season (589), touchdowns (75) and highest point
differential (+315) in 2007.
Patriots safety Devin McCourty shared his take on the system quarterback argument against Brady.
"That may be taking it a little too far," McCourty said via CSNNE.com. "Just a system guy? That's
wrong. Obviously, everyone knows Tom Brady's legend. His game speaks for itself. We obviously
can't wait to have him back in the locker room, he's the leader on our team. To say that is ridiculous.
Obviously, here in New England we find ways to win. It's a little different here without Tom but to
try to say he's a system quarterback, I don't even think you should waste your time asking questions
like that."
"Brady is a system quarterback arguments" have to end. The four–time Super Bowl champion's
track record speaks for itself. He isn't getting any younger, so instead of speculating how good
Brady would be without Belichick, let's admire all the success they've had together. Who knows –

Samantha Ponder: A Case Study Of Women In Sports Journalism
Chad Lindskog
JOUR 4130
December 9, 2014
Case Study: Women in Sports Journalism Samantha Ponder isn't a typical female sports journalist,
though it's not noticeable when she's in front of a camera, standing on a sideline at a top college
football game every week. Ponder, 28, appears to be similar to most other women working same the
career, as she's blonde, attractive, and has been excelling in front of national television audiences for
ESPN throughout this college football season. What makes her different than many other women
working a similar job is that she gave birth for the first time five months ago. For decades, women

Tracy Everbach and Laura Matysiak published an article in 2010 about the barriers women have
broken since first entering sports reporting. In 1978, a female Sports Illustrated journalist, Melissa
Ludtke, filed a civil lawsuit against Major League Baseball just so she could do her job the same
that men do. She wasn't allowed in the New York Yankees locker room after games, but won the
lawsuit and the right to interview players in the locker room, with the other male journalists who
hadn't been discriminated against. Although that was a big step for women in sport media,
discrimination hasn't ceased. Women, through social media and even in the workplace, often have to
deal with sexual harsassment. Everback's and Matysiak's next example came from 1990 – 12 years
after women were granted access to locker rooms across the country – where a female sports
reporter was sexually harassed in the New England Patriots' locker room. Players were verbally
harassing the reporter and exposing their genitals to her. Women aren't allowed to act like men in a

For Most People, The Name Aaron Hernandez Was Synonymous

Hernandez not only emulated his father's sports star status, but also became involved with criminals
and began using drugs. These lifestyle choices almost prevented him from attaining success as an
athlete. "Despite his obvious talents, NFL teams were wary of drafting Hernandez due to his
admitted flunking of a drug test. Privately, many teams also worried about his association with gang
types from his home neighborhood. He fell to the fourth round in the 2010 NFL draft before the
New England Patriots selected him with the 113th overall pick" (Bio, 2015).
Professional Career Once drafted, Hernandez quickly proved his merit as a professional football
player. He had 45 catches in his rookie year, which was a team record for tight ends, helping the
Patriots secure the AFC Championship. In his second year, along with Rob Gronkowski, he led the
Patriot offense with 24 touchdowns and 2,237 receiving yards, helping secure his team's position in
Super Bowl XLVI. He was injured in his third year, but was still positioned to become a team leader,
which was recognized by the Patriots with his sizable signing bonus (A&E, 2015).

The Major Themes In Homer's The Odyssey
"Consciously or not, we are all on a quest for answers, trying to learn the lessons of life." The
famous psychologist Elisabeth Kubler–Ross once stated this and it is true about The Odyssey. It is
one of the many themes found in Homer's Epic poem The Odyssey. Among others, some of the
themes I saw in it were the following: sometimes you must be humbled to succeed, just because
something is bigger than you doesn't mean it's better, and don't let pride overtake you. The one big
themes of the latter part of The Odyssey is sometimes you must be humbled to succeed. This is seen
in The Odyssey when Odysseus dresses as a beggar to hide from the crowd when he notices the

One example seen of this in The Odyssey is when Odysseus fights the Cyclops. The Cyclops is

cyclops gets asked who did it, he said "nohbdy did it" (9.making all his neighbours think he was
crying wolf to them. This is also seen towards the end of the book when Odysseus is fighting his
former followers and even though they have the strength in numbers to beat him, Odysseus still
comes out on top. This can be seen today by the Oregon Ducks. Over the past couple of seasons they
have averaged 12 wins a season and they haven't had the biggest teams. Since they have a smaller,
faster team they use their speed to tire the defense and give them more scoring opportunities. They

Archie Manning Research Paper
Who comes to attention when individuals envision the perfect NFL quarterback? Joe Namath, Dan
Marino, and Joe Montana are all familiar names. What about Eli Manning? Most people think of Eli
Manning as Peyton's little brother; however, what if Eli is far more than he is believed to be? Eli
Manning may not be deemed an elite quarterback by some, but he is actually one of the most
unruffled and composed quarterbacks in the league at decisive, game time moments. Eli Manning
was not always the tranquil, placid quarterback that we see today. He was once a young child who
was not engrossed in football or sports at all. Being seven and five years younger than his elder
brothers, Cooper and Peyton, he was never tangled in their loud, often bloody fraternal battles over
basketball or checkers or life. "I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Eli often did interviews in the Manning Room, which is filled with his dad's memorabilia. Although
it was not long before Eli was leaving his own mark at Ole Miss, He broke forty–seven school
records, including several that had belonged to his father (Lawrence 2). After college, Eli followed
in his brothers footsteps, becoming the No. 1 pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. The New York Giants
traded four draft picks to the San Diego Chargers for Manning with the dream of being led to a third
Super Bowl Championship. Eli was very unreliable coming into the league. He would throw four

The Philadelphia 76er Analysis
The Philadelphia 76ers this past season has was the worst team in the NBA. Not winning a
championship since 1983, they seemed to come close to the title throughout the years. Now, under
new management, the Sixers began to use applications of competitive analytics to step back out onto
the playing field (or court). Using the key points as described in Thomas Davenports "Analytics of
Competing," the 76ers seem to be starting a new era of basketball and it all has to do with analytics.
The introduction of sabermetrics in baseball has driven many teams to reevaluate their analytics, but
baseball is not the only sport that has developed an interest in applying analytics (Sabermetrics,
2015). Basketball is slowly becoming the next top sport for analytics, and a large reason has to of

The Analytical DELTA characterizes a company's progress within each stage and the 76ers has
almost has every aspect of the DELTA. First success factor of the DELTA is data and the relentless
search for new data and metrics (Davenport & Harris, 2007). In the 2013–14 season, the 76ers
experienced a record–tying 26–game losing streak, which resulted in a complete tear down of the
team. Hinkie needed to start from scratch, and with this he took the chance of releasing many top
players for better picks infuture drafts. They were able to accumulate 15 second round picks for the
next six drafts. An example of a good business move using data is using the "points–per–possession"
statistics to determine a good player for the team. In basketball, a coach wants the most points while
holding onto the ball the longest. If data reads a player is larger but has little time of possession, then
it might not be smart to put in that player. The data can also determine if a player is undervalued by

Sport Personal Statement
Bigger, faster and stronger athletes are what we see today. The body type of athletes has developed
gradually and have become more complex. The mindset of sports has changed, and I like the
direction its going in. The goal is to play harder, faster and longer with fewer injuries. However, I
can see why people are frightened by this new adjustment. Athletes around the world might have
become too big, too strong and too quick for their bodies. This tells us how sports science is creating
a new generation of super athletes and what we can learn from them. Sports science is a discipline
that studies how the body works during physical activity. An application of treatment and prevention
of injuries related to sports medicine. In the 21st century training isn't just specialized by sport or
position but by an individual's specific biochemical makeup. The study of chemical substances and
the process of living organisms also known as physiology. Physiology is one of the three
components of sports science. Another component is biomechanics which is he function of muscles,
joints and skeleton. The third component is psychology this is the physical factors that affect a
person's performance. Growing up I had a passion for sports, and it has now lead me to pursue a
career as a sports commentator. I love watching all sports reason being is because there is no

Tim Tebow's Strength is Jesus Christ
¨When people see the work ethic, determination and the passion that I have, they're going to ask,

Tebow uses his strengths to show Christ to people in a unique way. Tim Tebow demonstrates that
Christlikeness and courage are essential to being a strong leader. On a crisp summer day, August the

Timothy Richard Tebow. He was born into a small town in the Philippines called Makati City. Tim

Peyton Manning: Journey to Greatness Essay example
Some people are born with natural god given skills and ability while others who are not that lucky
and have to work twice as hard just to get the same result. And then there are those rare individual
who even though they are born with the talent, they still work just as hard and sometimes even
harder to keep improving. It is called determination and that is a trait that all the great athletes share
and it is what separates the great ones from the just good ones. This is perfect way to describe
Peyton Williams Manning, who is considered to be one of the most prolific passers in NFL history.

"I'm proud to be Archie's son. Being a quarterback, I had my mentor and hero living in the same

In the fall of 1994, Manning enrolled at the University of Tennessee. Over his four–year career,
Manning torched opponents with a big arm and dead–on accuracy, setting an astounding 42
conference, school and NCAA records. In all, he passed for 11,201 yards, registered 863

turned the franchise fortunes around. His rookie year, however, was far from perfect. Moments of
brilliance were often followed by bouts of struggle as Manning experienced some expected growing

Although Russell Wilson and Kirk Cousins were still on the board, with their second pick of the first
round, 28–year–old Brandon Weeden became the oldest quarterback drafted in NFL history. Weeden
won them five games before being replaced by Thad Lewis and then Jason Campbell. During the
2013 offseason, the Browns picked up Brian Hoyer after he was cut by the New England Patriots.
He won the most games (10) since Anderson in 2007 and is the only quarterback with a winning
record for the franchise in the last 18 years. Despite Hoyer's success, the Browns drafted Texas
A&M's Johnny Manziel with the 22nd–overall pick in 2014. Manziel crashed and burned, giving
way to further debauchery in Connor Shaw, Josh McCown, Austin Davis, Griffin, Kessler,
Whitehurst and Hogan. No matter how good the scouting staff of a team is, how players will
produce is unpredictable. The transition from college to the pros is a monumental one – just ask
Jared Goff. While Cleveland's quarterback quandary may still be without a definitive answer, Dak
Prescott and Tom Brady (fourth and sixth round picks, respectively) are proof that you just never

Deflategate: An Entire Scandal Based on Insecurity Essay
Juan–Carlos Licona
English 102
Professor Black
February 8, 2015
Insecurity or No?
When it comes to sports, a competitive mindset is key. In American football, it's hard not to win
without communication and teamwork. In the NFL playoffs of 2015, the New England Patriots beat
the Indianapolis Colts 45–7 for the AFC Championship. In a game that originally portrayed the
Patriots as an offensive force to be reckoned with, ended out to be a game that goes down in history.
After further investigation, the NFL found 11 of the Patriots' 12 footballs in the game to be
underinflated by about 2 pounds below the NFL's requirement. Now whether the allegations are
determined to be true or not, it does raise some speculation about the truth of the AFC ... Show more

Hasty generalizations draw conclusions based on too little evidence (Mauk). Not surprisingly, the
author assumes everyone who despises the fact that the Patriot's won the championship is tired of
hearing about their success. Although I grant his quasi–conservative generalization to be partly true,
I still maintain that whoever questions New England's success has a pretty good reason to believe
so. Instead of the looking at the big picture and considering both sides of the spectrum, the author
continues to back up his anti–liberal outlook as he states, "The Patriots are right to feel like they are
in the center of the crosshairs, the object of disaffection, and the target of a witch hunt. The whole
false outrage isn't about the legacy of the Patriots; it's about the legacy of those making the claims.
It's coming from those of past dynasties that are afraid that the Patriots have lapped them in the all
time rankings. It's coming from players who are so willing to overlook their own warts in order to
point out the Patriots'." Here the author not only proves to present a objectivity disguise, which fools
the audience into thinking the presented information is unbiased; but also introduces a red herring
fallacy. Red herring fallacies are deliberate attempts to change the subject. Instead of dealing with
the actual argument, the arguer introduces irrelevant points to distract the audience (Mauk). Clearly,
the author seems

Dunkin' Donuts
DUNKIN' DONUTS
FOUNDED:
In 1950, Bill Rosenberg opened the first Dunkin' Donuts shop in Quincy, Massachusetts. Dunkin'
Donuts licensed the first of many franchises in 1955. Dunkin' Donuts is the world's leading baked
goods and coffee chain, serving more than 3 million customers per day. Dunkin' Donuts sells 52
varieties of donuts and more than a dozen coffee beverages as well as an array of bagels, breakfast
sandwiches and other baked goods.
A simple philosophy, "Make and serve the freshest, most delicious coffee and donuts quickly and
courteously in modern, well–merchandised stores."
While the company originally focused on doughnuts and other baked goods, over half of its business
today is in coffee sales, making it more of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dunkin' Donuts was also named one of the "Top 10 Franchises for 2008" by Entrepreneur magazine.
According to market research conducted by The NPD Group, Dunkin' Donuts is a market leader in
the regular/decaf coffee, iced coffee, hot flavored coffee, donut, and bagel and muffin categories.
ADVERTISING:
Dunkin' Donuts advertising memes have become popular culture references, especially in their
home region of the northeastern United States. As well as being featured in many films, the
company has a close relationship with major sports teams, such as the Boston Red Sox and the New
England Patriots, and makes new commercials at the start of each team's season for promotions.
Dunkin' Donuts also sponsors many other professional sports teams, including the Dallas Cowboys,
New York Yankees, New York Mets, Tampa Bay Rays and others.
Dunkin' Donuts's slogan is "America Runs On Dunkin'," despite the fact that most of its stores are
concentrated on the east coast, with only two west–coast locations–– (Portland, Oregon), and a new
location (as of May 2012) on the Marine Corps base at Camp Pendleton, with slightly limited public
accessibility.
In March 2009, the company unveiled an alternate slogan, "You 'Kin Do It!", and launched a $100+
million ad campaign to promote it. The campaign, slated to run through 2009, includes radio, print

  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Athletes Jermichael Finley was a tight end for the Green Bay Packers, who was fighting a back injury for some part of the year. He took a strange hit at the end of the game and was not able to get up. He had no control, couldn't breathe or move. He looked up to his teammates and they could see the fear inside of his eyes. He was carried off the field on a stretcher and he asked a trainer, "Will I play football again?" The trainer said, "I cannot answer that yet." (Mark Mravic) He never was on an NFL team again. He was hurt enough to the point where he couldn't get back to a competitive level. Injuries are real, and we need protect defenseless players. All I almost ever see on Sportscenter, Bleacher Report or any other sports news app is injury updates. Injuries happen too frequently in sports. Some people don't even think about how awful this problem really is. I believe that there is something we can do to protect athletes and avoid injuries before they happen. Athletes are not protected enough in sports. The injuries players face in football are awful. It's a high risk sport. Players of the sport retire so early from the NFL because of the massive hits. It really takes a toll on their body. Some players retire by thirty years old for reasons like injuries. ACL/MCL tears are the most common injury that are actually serious. Some players in this sport are too big to tackle in their upper body, so they get tackled in their lower body, like their knees. This is the cause of ACL/MCL ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. National Football Game Analysis The modern National Football League, more commonly known as the NFL, has been around since 1924. It consists of thirty–two teams, spread out in eight divisions inside two conferences, the AFC and the NFC. The season is relatively short, with only sixteen regular season games. Only twelve teams make the playoffs, with four receiving a first–round bye. The third round, the AFC and NFC Championships, determine who will play in the Superbowl for a chance at a winning title and glory. The games are single elimination, and thus if a team hopes to win the Vince Lombardi trophy at the Superbowl, it is imperative they win every game after the regular season finishes. Even though DeflateGate was still a key issue in the league, Brady was still out for the first four games of the year, forcing the Patriots to use rookie quarterbacks (Bedard 66). Jimmy Garoppolo, a second round pick in the 2014 draft, was expected to start the first four games, putting massive pressure on him and the Patriots' defensive line to increase their performances (Bedard 66). Bedard writes that under Brady, the Patriots defense and offence both finished in the top ten among all NFL teams in 2015, setting the bar very high for their backup quarterbacks. All these disadvantages given to the Patriots brought Goodell's reputation into question, and even though Goodell got to punish Brady, he may have caused his image harm by continuing to fight for his punishment to be accepted. A federal judge, when Brady presented his formal legal appeal, concluded that Goodell's punishment was outside his power, seeing as "The NFL had a punishment for tampering with game equipment, and it wasn't a particularly large one: a fine of $25,000. Instead, Goodell ended up fining the Patriots $1 million, taking two draft picks. And then on top of that, he suspended Brady, even though the NFL's manual prescribes a team punishment rather than a player punishment" (Sherman). The judge decides, "It is clear that the arbitrator 'must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Dangers Of Concussions In Football Football is the most popular sport in the U.S. About 1.4 million people watch the NFL season and about 111.9 million people watch the NFL Super Bowl. Although it is the most popular sport is it the most dangerous? There are many people getting concussions, injuries to the Meniscus, Groin Pull, Hamstring pull, etc. It is rare for pro football players to obtain injuries, but it is more common for high school and college football players to get injuries, sometimes serious. The NFL does notice that football is a dangerous sport and assign many protections like pads and helmets, but it doesn't stop kids from getting serious injuries. Football players are known for getting crazy injuries. Injuries tend to happen to high school and college players because pro players know how to avoid getting injuries. A study in 2007 revealed that about 7.23% of high school students got serious head injuries and about 0.67% for college players. There are so many injuries football players get but the most common are leg injuries like injuries to the Meniscus, Groin Pull, Hamstring Pull, Tear, or Strain, Iliotibial Band Syndrome.Pulled or Strained Calf Muscle. The sad thing is that there are kids that get these kinds of injuries and don't get the right amount of rest time because of coach's urging kids to shake it off and get back on the field, putting them at risk of getting a serious injury to their legs. Teens who play in Junior high and High school have undeveloped brains. If they take hits ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Movie Report : Cinderella Stories Abstract The reason I decided to research and write about cinderella stories in sports is very simple, they make sports fun and exciting. Everyone loves to root on the underdogs and see them win the "David vs. Goliath" battle. There are so many different cinderella stories to choose from while they spread throughout every sport. While researching, I found that although there have been thousands of them, some cinderella stories get more publicity than others. Some stories get told more than others for some reason, why is that? This essay will help us all understand that question a little better. Cinderella stories are constantly arising and are one of the reasons sports are so enjoyable. It is important to conduct this research because it needs to be brought to people's attention that sports are more than just a game with a winner and a loser. Sports are stories that are told through action. Sports introduce us to cinderella stories who make our experience that much more enjoyable. Cinderella stories are a huge part of the athletic world and they deserve so much more attention. The main point of this research is to provide people with a better understanding to who and what cinderella stories truly are. Why they are considered cinderella stories and why their stories deserve to be told. Keywords: Cinderella Story, Sports Cinderella Stories in Sports and Why They Make Sports Great The sports world has always been intrigued by the idea of having an underdog, ... After reading and researching, it is very clear to me that there are specific norms each share, despite the fact that they are for different sports. In each nation, there are similarities in the dedication that each society has towards their given sport. Even though people may not have been dying in arguments over the sport in the American society, there is still a sense of the same dedication and fanaticism. Another thing about the societies that is comparable is the fan base that each society presents towards their given sport. Both groups are very large, intensely loyal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As you can see from author Williams, more and more Americans are adopting England's societal sports norms. Things happening between the NFL and England's sports society have really taken off to another level, and make Williams story look like baby steps. This gradual progress aside, at the end of the day American football will never be as popular (accepted) in England as soccer, just like soccer will never be as popular as football here in the states. That is the only conclusion that can be reached to anyone consider the facts fairly. Ultimately, I believe that it will be these cultural differences that will be the most important obstacle/barrier to the NFL's efforts to expand globally. The NFL's Effort to Export American Football to International Markets Throughout the history of the NFL, there have been several attempts at globalizing the league. This gave Brady the opportunity to start with a 17–0 lead, Manning didn't let that discourage him because he came back and made Brady fight for his win all the way till the end, Patriots 38– Colts 34 (Gelhar). The other two times (2004 and 2007) the team went on to play in the Super Bowl era. Tom Brady is arguably playing the best football of his career. The team is extremely versatile, co constantly adapting their game plans to fit their opponents. One week after running up a storm against the Colts, the Patriots ran the ball a mere nine times, five oh which were by Tom Brady. The Patriots get better and better each week. The team continues to impress me. They have yet to be 100 percent healthy, and despite this, the team is clearly the best in the NFL. 2. Cincinnati Bengals: 6–0 (2) I say it every week and I'll say it again. I am all in on the Bengals this season. Andy Dalton has been spectacular thus far, throwing 14 touchdowns to just two interceptions. Of all the undefeated teams, the Bengals have been the most tested and it doesn't get any easier from here as the team's next two opponents are the Steelers and the Browns. 3. Green Bay Packers: 6–0 (3) Coming off of their bye week, the Packers finally have a chance to get healthy. Despite, an abundance of injuries the team has still looked like one of the best teams in the entire NFL. This week they are taking on another undefeated team in the Broncos. • 23. Case Analysis : ' Deflategate ' Scandal Kevin Lane The "Deflategate" scandal is a case that involves the four time superbowl championship team, the New England Patriots, and their potential hall of fame quarterback, Tom Brady. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots were accused of allegedly tampering with the game footballs used in the AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts in the 2015 season. In this game, the Patriots defeated the Colts 45–7 and went on to to defeat the Seattle Seahawks 28–24 in the 2015 Superbowl. Many people, right away, are probably thinking – "What is the big advantage of an under inflated football?" A deflated football gives the team using it a huge advantage. A physics professor, Mike Eads, from Northern Illinois University explain in terms of physics why a deflated football is an advantage, The higher the pressure, the harder and more firm the football becomes. Conversely, the lower the pressure, the more give the ball has, potentially making it easier to catch in cold, slick weather. But lighter balls are also more influenced by air resistance. (Pigskin Physics) It allows for the ball to be handled more easily, especially in cold or wet weather. Taking the air out of a football allows for more grip of the ball; therefore making it easier to throw, catch, and carry. The 4th of December marked the time where Tom's number of wins exceeded Peyton Manning 's to mark him as the quarterback with the most wins in NFL history. 201 is the number and everyone in New England has been diligently counting Tom's wins since Peyton Manning retired. Like every New England sports fan, Tom is my guy and I will put my money on him against any opponent. You may think I'm being too informal when I address Tom Brady as Tom, but it's what we do in New England. 99% of us do not have a direct relationship with Tom, but we have an indescribable connection that gives us the right to call him Tom. Tom's preparation to break this record began with his high school football career for Junípero Serra High School. When he first took the field for the Padres, he only had one vision of what kind of quarterback he wanted to be. Tom wanted to wear a red and gold jersey and lead his team to a Super Bowl victory like Joe Montana once did for the San Francisco 49ers. Tom's career continued at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Tom was struggling to grab the attention of college coaches at first, but his father helped him make a highlight reel of his best high school plays which eventually grabbed the attention of the University of Michigan. Scott Fitzgerald Michael Jordan, one of the best basketball players to have ever played the game, once said, "there is no such thing as the perfect player and I don't believe there is only one greatest player either." As time has taken a toll on professional sports, they are becoming more and more corrupt. Players are not realizing the truth behind Jordan's statement and more and more players are starting to believe that its necessary to cheat in order to keep them a step ahead of their peers. Fans are also putting more pressure on these athletes by gambling. These star athletes now not only feel like they need to beat their opponents but they have to beat them enough to also win the spread. Based on various research and the novels, The Great Gatsby by F. New England also set the record for points in a season (589), touchdowns (75) and highest point differential (+315) in 2007. In 1978, a female Sports Illustrated journalist, Melissa Ludtke, filed a civil lawsuit against Major League Baseball just so she could do her job the same that men do. She wasn't allowed in the New York Yankees locker room after games, but won the lawsuit and the right to interview players in the locker room, with the other male journalists who hadn't been discriminated against. Although that was a big step for women in sport media, discrimination hasn't ceased. Women, through social media and even in the workplace, often have to deal with sexual harsassment. However, I can see why people are frightened by this new adjustment. Athletes around the world might have become too big, too strong and too quick for their bodies. This tells us how sports science is creating a new generation of super athletes and what we can learn from them. Sports science is a discipline that studies how the body works during physical activity. An application of treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports medicine. Instead of the looking at the big picture and considering both sides of the spectrum, the author continues to back up his anti–liberal outlook as he states, "The Patriots are right to feel like they are in the center of the crosshairs, the object of disaffection, and the target of a witch hunt. The whole false outrage isn't about the legacy of the Patriots; it's about the legacy of those making the claims.
