Ethanol Fuel
Scientists are constantly looking for new and more efficient alternatives for fuel. Not only are these
for environmental purposes, but because of depleting fuel levels caused by over consumption. One
common substitute for fuel commonly ??? made of crude oil or petroleum is ethanol fuel. This fuel,
also know as ethyl alcohol, is created by the fermentation and distillation of corn. There are three main
advantages and disadvantages when contemplating the use of this alternative fuel.
First, although not popular in North America, it is possible to run cars on fuel containing pure ethanol.
This is evident with ethanol derived from the readily available sugarcane in Brazil. Manufacturing
vehicles that run on one hundred percent ethanol ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Primarily, ethanol containing fuels sold commercially are almost always mixed with gasoline. These
gasoline ethanol blends either contain only ten percent ethanol or eighty five percent ethanol and are
only compatible with cars that contain special fuel systems. So although reducing, ethanol is not
eliminating the use of petroleum in transportation. Next, another factor making ethanol undesirable is
its fuel efficiency and availability. Approximately one third more ethanol is necessary to travel the
same distance as gasoline and fueling stations are much less prevalent. MORE SPARSE?. So, while
initially the fuel cost is lower than that of pure gasoline, consumers are usually spending the same
amount for fuel. The similar cost makes the hassle to find these fuel stations less justified
worthwhile?? for consumers. Finally, if ethanol use and production becomes more extensive, it could
affect global food and water supplies. More crops and farmland would be converted to produce
ethanol, leaving less for food consumption. This would not only increase the use of pesticides and
fertilizers but reduce water availability due to this nutrient needy? crop. This increased use of
pesticides and fertilizers contributes to water and soil contamination with runoff, including lake, river,
and drinking water. With reduced crops and fewer water supplies, prices of foods containing corn

The Notebook Essay
The Notebook is one of my favorite love movies of all time. The reason I love this movie so much is
because that main characters Noah and Allie go through so many trials and finally end up together in
the end. This movie I feel shows me how strong their love for each other really was and I now feel as
if it is meant to be it will always find a way. Looking at the movie as a reference to get a better
understanding of how lifespan development works, I realized that most of the trials that Noah and
Allie went though were part of stages of development. The theory of stages of development was
created by Erik Erikson, he believes that we go though certain stages in our life and if we do not get
passed them properly we will end up with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Feeling happy about their choices in life I feel lead to a peaceful death because they had everything
they ever wanted which was each other. In the middle of the movie Noah finds out by Allie mother
that Allie and her parents want her to go to school in New York. I believe this to be stage five identity
vs. identity confusion which happens during the adolescence part of people lives. Allie was trying to
figure out who she really was. Allie did everything her parents told her to do because she wanted to
please and make them proud of her. When Noah came along I think things changed for her because
she was able to be herself around him and she was able to see what she really wanted. I think that
trying to be someone for her parents led her to be confused about whom she was and what she wanted.
I think that Noah had a better sense of who he was because he had to grow up a lot faster by this I
mean he helped his father with the bills and he felt like a responsible adult. When Allie walked into
Noah life he knew that he wanted to proved and be with her and let her go and grow in college while
he worked. He thought that Allie wanted to go to school closer to where he was so that they can stay
together. Yet Allie parents did not want her to be with Noah so they decided for Allie to go away to
school in New York and Allie followed what her parents wanted because she was unsure of what she
really wanted or how to stand up for it.

Arn Chorn Pond
Arn Chorn Pond was a sweet little boy before it all started. He would go outside and play with his
friends and he was always very friendly. That lasted only until the Khmer Rouge came to his town and
started making them suffer. They had to go to different camps and they got separated from their
families. A lot of people got killed for no reason or they died from a disease or starvation. They had to
get up very early in the morning and work in the rice field until bedtime. They would get very little
food and very little sleep. So many people were killed without any explanation. After a few years of
working hard and not getting enough rest they went into war. Kids of all ages had to learn how to
shoot and if they didn t cooperate they would get killed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Arn was able to escape and got rescued by some people who took him to a hospital where they took
care of him for a while. From there he got adopted by Peter Pond who brought him to the United
States so he wouldn t have to suffer anymore and for a better life and future. Arn s situation is very
common throughout the whole world. So many kids and even adults suffer in their own countries
because of genocide. So many innocent people get separated from their families or get killed without
explanation. Most don t have the choice of being part of this or not. They will get threatened that if
they don t do what they ask they may get killed. This issue is a very debated subject. Some people
argue that it is not the United States responsibility to step in during genocide, while other people argue
that it is the U.S. s responsibility to help the people from these countries. Despite what some may say,
the U.S. should step in during genocide because every life matters even if it is a refugee and refugees

Essay on Foucault Panopticism
Panopticism by Michel Focault
Works Cited Not Included
Our society is not one of spectacle, but of surveillance; under the surface of images, one invests bodies
in depth; behind the great abstraction of exchange, there continues the meticulous concrete training of
useful forces; the circuits of communication are the supports of an accumulation and a centralization
of knowledge; the play of signs defines the anchorages of power; it is not that the beautiful totality of
the individual is amputated, repressed, altered by our social order, it is rather that the individual is
carefully fabricated in it, according to a whole technique of forces and bodies. (pp.333 34)

The persons with the plague (lepers were included in this group) were always observed to account for
their presence. These people were supposed to be present at their windows for attendance. Where they
not present at the time, they were marked as dead. Their family would be removed, the house would
be cleaned out, perfumed, and then, a mere four hours later, people would move back in. Obviously,
the fear of not being observed would be strong in this situation, a direct result of the drastic measures
taken once someone s presence could not be observed. Though this fear has the opposite motivation of
the healthy citizens, who, knowing they are being watched, are afraid to do wrong, it works on the
same basic principle. That if one knows they are being watched, it remains a constant consideration in
their mind, regardless of the presence of an observer, the fear will always be present.
The Panopticon, a prison described by Foucault, is a machine for dissociating the see/being seen dyad:
in the peripheric ring, one is totally seen, without ever seeing (321, Foucault). This literally means that
in the formation of the panopticon those who are being seen can not see one another and the one who
sees everything can never be seen. That is the most important tool of the panopticon. Foucault makes
this assumption about today s society by saying that we are always being watched whether we know it
or not. One always keeps an eye over their shoulder as a

The Use of Monitoring Devices at the Workplace
For the past decade, many companies have changed their way of using modern technologies.
Therefore, it has resulted in newer strategies to manage employees at the workplace. The increased
usage of surveillance and monitoring have caused concerns for both employees and employers. These
technologies should not be allowed at the workplace because it can create poor working environment

Personal information and important data like bank accounts and e mails are vulnerable with
monitoring devices placed everywhere.
Another reason is the stress monitoring employees in the workplace can cause. More than 12 million
people are monitored by electronic surveillance at work causing a sharp rise in stress levels, according
to a survey by the Policy Studies Institute (PSI). Moreover, overly intrusive monitoring could decrease
productivity and potentially cause exhaustion and feelings of anxiety. The Security Director s Report
adds that surveillance can undermine morale and cause employees to resent management. It can foster
discord and instead of bridging the existing gaps between management and their employees,
surveillance activities may bring in more skepticisms and gaps.
But some people argue that putting such devices in offices will increase the performance of
employees. For example, employees can be distracted by websites that are non work related.
According to a Nielson Media Research study, employees allegedly logged into outlets such as
gaming websites and social media networks like Facebook or Twitter. Any kind of viruses or malware
could severely disrupt a business s day to day activities; this could become detrimental to productivity
and have a knock on effect on profits. By monitoring employee internet use and ensuring only

Critical Thinking Skills And The Little Albert Episode
Critical Thinking Skills and the Little Albert Episode
Ethics remains unavoidable in most disciplines, and psychology is no exception. John Watson s
experiment deserves the current criticism because it failed to observe informed consent and protection
from harm principle. The controversy arises from the principle of beneficence and non maleficence.
The principle requires psychologists, in this case, John Watson, and his student to benefit and care for
his subjects. During the Experiment, Albert was nine months old. The age of the infants forms the first
unethical behavior by Watson. The APA code requires psychologists to ensure justice, integrity,
respect for people s rights and dignity, responsibility and fidelity, and beneficence and non
maleficence. The experiment is unethical as most of the activities did not practice justice and integrity
to the involved human subject.
The Little Albert experiment was conducted to underline the methods to an unlimited extent. Beneath
the research among John Watson, and Rosalie Rayner s Little Albert there were many controversy
behaviors linked to the code of ethics. During the controversial psychological study conducted the
experiment among a nine month old child; Albert little, and Watson. The experiment was based on the
emotional behavior of fear by Pavlov. He pursued to reveal how human being stimulus to the
emotional responses of fear by contact. In 1920, the study by Watson exposed a 9 month baby; Albert

Social Media And Electronic Communication
Communication
Electronic communication technologies influence the social development of adolescents in several
ways including interpersonal communication, and emphasized that interpersonal communications are
depersonalized because adolescent now conduct a higher proportion of communication electronically
rather than face to face or voice to voice. (Subrahmanyam greenfield, 2008). Any type technology to
communicate with others, such as cell phones, instant messaging, and social networking sites, it
deprives any visual or auditory cues of facial expression, body language, and voice dynamics (Cyr,
Berman, Smith, 2014). Interpersonal relationship problems arise when messages on either end are
misunderstood (Erozkan, 2013).
When adolescents communicate face to face, it provides an adequate tone of voice, therefore the
message is more clearly, in contrast, when using social media, the reader may misinterpret the
message. Erozkan (2013) emphasized that without effective communication, a message can turn into
error, misunderstanding, or frustration. Communication is the basis of personal relationships and
effective communication happens when the message that is sent is the same message that is received
(Erozkan, 2013). This can cause differences in relationships as interactions face to face are necessary.
Although face to face interactions provides more meaning to relationships, adolescents opt to use their
electronic communication. Some adolescents might be more expressive

The Genre of Mystery in The Signalman and the Monkeys Paw...
How do dickens and jacobs use the genre of mystery in the signalman and the monkeys paw?
To answer the question, I believe that the authors of The Signalman and The Monkey s Paw use the
genres of mystery very well. I am going to explain why I think that in the following essay.
The first idea that I am going to look at is the role of fate. We see this take place in both stories, but in
slightly different ways. In
The Monkey s Paw, we see fate take on a large role, as the story is about a monkey s paw that has
been invested with a lot of evil power because an old fakir wanted to teach people not to interfere with
fate and its course.
In The Signalman however, the role of fate is not as large as the role in The Monkey s ... Show more

Furthermore, I will look at the suggestion of spectre. In The Monkeys
Paw, the paw had been invested with so much power because it had a spell put on it by an old fakir , as
this holy man wanted to get a message across to people that they were not to interfere with fate and its
course.
The Signalman is a story about a man who sees a figure, or a spectre several times, and after the
sightings, the next day somebody dies.
The suggestion of spectre plays quite a big role in this story, and gives a very effective result. The left
arm is across the face, and the right arm is waved, violently waved.
Moreover, the setting of The Monkey s Paw adds to the way Jacobs used the genre of mystery.
Without, the night was cold and wet . You could imagine a typical mystery scene, with rain, claps of
thunder etc a effective setting. The atmosphere inside the house was equally successful in grabbing my
attention, the fire was burning and the blinds were drawn, and this gives me the idea of being cosy
inside when the weather outside is terrible and miserable an appealing setting. The story is mostly set
at night, which adds to the eeriness.
Equally, Dickens grabs the reader s attention with a disturbing atmosphere. The steep cutting nearly
over his head gives me the idea of claustrophobia.
The thought of a foreshortened and shadowed figure gives me the sense of a figure that is possessed
and not as it seems. Most

The Importance of International Commercial Arbitration Essay
Introduction
International commercial arbitration is one of the most important legal institutions in international
private law. This conclusion follows from the fact that the nature of arbitration depends largely on
autonomy of the parties, who choose arbitration procedure as the procedure in which the dispute will
be settled; place where the arbitration is to be held; arbitral tribunal etc. Probably the most important
and considerable expression of the autonomy is the right to choose the law, which is to be applied to
merits of the dispute. The chosen applicable law guarantees in large measure predictability of the
outcome of the case and allows parties to control the scope of interpretation and application of the
international commercial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The subject of the research is the law applicable in international commercial arbitration. The paper
will first deal with the law applicable to arbitration agreement. Secondly, the question of
determination of law applicable to the merits of the dispute will be brought up including the case when
the intention of the parties can be found and the situation when there is absence of the choice of law
made by the parties. The significance of the selected research topic can be explained by the fact that
international commercial arbitral proceedings is widely used by the parties of commercial transactions
as the effective method of dispute settlement and the issue of applicable law to the merits of the
dispute is one of the main which the arbitral tribunal has to decide.
Conclusion
The nature of international commercial arbitration has a close connection to the party autonomy,
which is also expressed in the right of the parties to choose the law that is to be applied by the
arbitrators to the dispute between them. The same right is given to the parties concerning the
arbitration agreement.
Firstly, the choice of law applicable to the substance of the dispute which the parties have made can be
either express or implied and if such choice took place the arbitrators have to apply it. Without any
indications concerning choice of applicable law, an arbitral tribunal has to determine such law through
the searching of proper

Tar Sands In Canada
Oil and gas usage because of tar sands is now considered the largest source of greenhouse gas
emissions in Canada, which means it actually produces more greenhouse gas emissions in North
America than all the CO2 from vehicles. The tar sands create both a noxious air quality, and a polluted
water quality with bitumen (Greenpeace Canada; Semeniuk, 2016). This issue, in relation to Canada,
is most problematic at the Alberta tar sands. The scientific consensus on this issue is that the tar sands
not only has become one of the biggest emissions problems in Canada, but also that it has become a
major health concern because of the misunderstood and unknown pollutants in the air (Greenpeace
Canada; Semeniuk, 2016; Dr. Gosselin, Dr. Hrudey, Dr. Naeth, Dr. Plourde, Dr. Therrien, Dr. Van Der
Kraak, Dr. Xu., 2010). There is also a general scientific consensus that this change in the air quality
contributes to climate change. This change in air quality also creates a serious threat to humans. The
tar sands impact ambient air quality and produces noxious odours, which humans inhale and have the
possibility to damage our lungs (Dr. Gosselin, et al., 2010).

explore new lands and territories in order to find new trade routes. Europeans went west to explore
and claim the new world for their countries. The renaissance influenced these explorers to find new
lands and the reformation also influenced European explorers to spread their religion and try to
convert others to Christianity. Some of the most influential and key explores in this time period where
Christopher Columbus, Henry Hudson and Hernan Cortes.
Christopher Columbus was the one of the most influential explorers in the Age of Exploration. He was
the first European to explore the Americas. Columbus set off on his journey south from Palos Spain
with 3 ships. He believed that he would reach the edge of Japan in 10 days if he sailed west to
uncharted territory. Instead of being on the water for 10 days, he was on the water for about 30 days
and he found the americas. He landed in the bahamas and then claimed it for Spain. Christopher
Columbus should be viewed as a villain in history because he killed millions of the native Americans
with disease and overworking them. He captured thousands of natives and made them into slaves. He
also set in motion the Africans being put in the slavery. Even though he discovered the Americas he
murdered many lives. Christopher Columbus be a villain in history because of his horrible actions
towards the native people.

Neuro Linguistic Programming
History of Neuro Linguistic Programming Abstract This paper covers the history and development of
Neuro Linguistic Programming in the field of psychology covering its techniques and its growth from
behavioral modeling and the influences of Gestalt psychologists Fritz Perls; Virginia Satir, and Milton

An anchor is a specific word which represents behaviors classically conditioned to evoke a specific
response. This response can be cognitive or behavioral. An anchor does not need to be to be reinforced
with its response and it does not need to be conditioned over a period of time. Language is a common
anchoring system. For example, the word dog will be an auditory anchor to an image of four legged
animal that barks, an effective anchor with little cognitive effort. The smell of a hospital or a family
member screaming in anger is examples of anchors that have been unintentionally installed and they
operate out of an individual s awareness and direct control. Neuro Linguistic Programming operates to
install new anchors which work just as well as these unintentional anchors and work toward evoking a
response that increases the behavioral flexibility of a person and it is through these anchors that
changes can be made in the strategies of thought. Using NLP a therapist can establish a map of one s
cognitive representation of the world and place anchors that be established in a clients strategies that
provoke responses that differ from those expected using their original strategy. It is now used
internationally used by millions of people throughout the world in such diverse fields as management,
sales, marketing, public relations, education, therapy, the military and police, sport, and personal
development. (Schaefer, Beausay Pursley 1983).

The Changes In Religion In The Communist Manifesto By Karl...
For Karl Marx, the changes in religion ultimately reflect the changes happening in society, because the
religious world is just a reflection of the real world. If this is the case here, the use of technology in a
religious setting would make sense, as our technological world is ever expanding and will further
benefit the people at the top of religious hierarchies. In terms of online for profit churches, Marx
might argue that the market is driving the religious realm to cater to technological advances. Marx
states in The Communist Manifesto, The feudal system of industry...now no longer sufficed for the
growing wants of the new markets , meaning that longstanding religious traditions, such as confession
and synagogue teachings before Bar/Bat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, Durkheim would also argue that religion is mirrored after society, meaning that as society
evolves specifically in the technological realm religious practices will follow suit. This will occur
because religious representations are collective representations which express collective realities ,
meaning Durkheim would probably think that online churches are meant to appeal to modern ideals
(McIntosh, 1997). As Durkheim states in Religion and Society, the rites are a manner of acting, which
take rise in the midst of the assembled groups which are destined to excite, maintain or recreate
certain mental states... , he further establishes that religious groups will do what is necessary to
conform to what is happening in society in order to stay relevant (McIntosh, 1997). Durkheim would
probably argue in favor of these online for profit church practices because it brings a sense of unity to
modern society, and acts as a way to revitalize the conscience collective, and churches provide a
society whose members are united by the fact that they think in the same way in regard to the sacred
world (McIntosh, 1997). Online churches might provide a new ritual that serves to remind us of our
social solidarity. In opposition, Durkheim might argue that online for profit churches bring with them
a lack of anomie. As stated by

Life Of Pi And Religion
In his interview with Jennie Renton, author Yann Martel says that the subtext of his novel Life of Pi
can be summarized in three lines: life is a story, you can choose your story, and a story with God is a
better story. In his novel, Martel uses the concepts of religion and fiction in a way that is almost
interchangeable. Through the character and beliefs of Pi, he shares the idea that all religions contain
stories and a reason for our existence, and that what makes this good is the reassurances it provides in
our lives. Religions make life meaningful and gives us purpose and Martel goes on to describe a life
without them as a dry, yeast less factuality (22).

The Causes And Impacts Of World War II
World War II was a worldwide war that happened from 1939 to 1945. It involved the majority of the
world s countries including which eventually formed the two opposing military alliances the Allies
and the Axis. It was the largest war in history, and involved more than 100 million people from over
30 countries. The major countries threw their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities
behind the war effort. World War II has had the most fatalities and injuries of any war in human
history, accumulating 50 million to 85 million fatalities, with most being civilians in the Soviet Union
and China. World War 2 had events such as the genocide of Jews orchestrated by Adolf Hitler and his
Nazi party, bombings, starvation, disease and the use of nuclear weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki
which was the first use of nuclear weapons in history.
During the war the royal navy had noticed that aircraft carriers were becoming the ultimate ships for
naval warfare, and that the royal navy s former naval superiority in terms of their battleships had
become irrelevant. The royal navy had noticed that battleships could no longer fulfil their roles in a
cost effective manner. They were too big, too expensive to build and maintain, and their crews too
large. Due to this the royal navy was an early innovator in aircraft carrier design, introducing
armoured flight decks, in place of the battleships. This then meant that the royal navy focused more on
building aircraft carriers and

Critique I Polytechnique
Polytechnique is a dramatization of the Montreal Massacre in 1989, where 14 young women at l École
Polytechnique were murdered by a deranged misogynist. The film juggled through several time
periods, and emphasized the aftermath of the massacre on the people left behind. This event is
documented through the perspective of three characters: the shooter, Valérie, and Jean François. With
numerous positive reviews from film critics, Toronto Star states that Polytechnique is a tragic art that
not only shows and reveal, but it contemplates inspiration. It makes no judgment and offers no
panaceas. (Howell). In addition, The Hollywood Reporter favorably said that it is as much a memorial

addition, Polytechnique reveals insightful aftereffects of the main characters. Subsequent to the
massacre, Valérie constantly had nightmares, and she resourced herself with smoking. She wrote a
mock letter to the shooter s parents, explaining her sufferings and scars. Jean François also committed

demonstrates that students will be able to depict the variety of outcomes that resulted from this mass

The Work Of The Textile Industry Of A Man By The Name...
In America a man by the name Isaac Singer was working on a product that would change the textile
industry for forever. Singer lived from 1811 until 1875 and contributed too many successful models
both in business and that of design. These contributions would be seen over the next 2000 years.
When Isaac Singer was growing up he was being influenced by some of the large changes going on
around in the world. After Napoleon s defeat in 1814 an era of peace began. This would kick start a
world of mechanization. In the time that singer s sewing machine was being designed and produced

One of these designers was Samuel Colt. His approach to interchangeability of parts would be one that
influenced many designers to come. This interchangeability could be found among singers machine
and this made the up keep of his sewing machine easy. Another benefactor in Isaac s contraption was
Adam Smith s division of labour and Wgatt s guidelines for metal work. While this was still frowned
upon in the time of reform it was softened by the standardization of labour and the introduction of
education and laws. Another concept that was brought up in America was Eli Whitney s model that
involved the reduction of hard labour and this was demonstrated in his Machine, the Cotton Gin. This
machine was used to save labours hours separating cotton, this concept of using mechanization to find
ease in production was adopted into Singers sewing machine. At this time in history women were
starting to have more of a voice and were taking on more household tasks and this ease of fabrication
for textiles rather than hand stitching was very appealing. However this revolutionary machine may

What Is The Heights Of Selfie Madness Essay
The habit of giving freely without expecting anything in return is called generosity that has lost it
meaning in our day s now. People now are so quick to give so they can gain something in return
whether it being publicity or the appreciation from others. In our generation we are so focused on
what we are gaining rather than what we are giving. We have change the meaning of giving in all in
this generation, what is giving without asking the question what are we receiving in return. This
picture specks for itself in our time now, for example if am volunteering usually 90 % of the time I am

The Conception Of The Common Good
The Common Good, as defined by John Rawls, is certain general conditions that are...equally to
everyone s advantage (Valesquez, 1992, 1). On the other hand, Catholicism has defined the common
good as the sum of those conditions of social life which allow social groups and their individual
members relatively thorough and ready access to their own fulfillment (Valesquez, 1992, 1). The
notion of the common good originated over thousand years ago in the writings of Plato, Aristotle, and
Cicero. Although it would seem to a societies advantage to establish and maintain a system
centralizing around the common good, this is not without someone degree of great difficulty. As

John Cages Influence On Society
As one of the most radical composers in the 20th century, John Cage introduced new ideas of what
music is. Breaking away from the traditional idea that music stems solely from the musician s
preconceived and structured arrangement of sounds from specific instruments, Cage s philosophy of
music is based on the idea that all sounds can work cooperatively to create music, including those
from the environment.
Strongly influenced by the principles in Zen Buddhism and Indian music, Cage began to explore new
medians for music; He incorporated different elements by relying heavily on chance and randomness.
Cage worked hard to create pieces that detached himself, as the composer, far away from the piece
itself as possible to allow the listener

Analysis Of The Book Breaking The Land
Breaking the Land discusses three major components throughout the book; cotton, tobacco, and the
rice culture. Pete Daniel, the author, discusses the transformation of these three subjects throughout
history. The different agriculture crops are described by explaining the environment that they are in
and the difficulties they come across. The book explains how the crops and the environment have
changed because of the difficulties they have faced. Diseases, race, inflation and deflation of crop
prices, laws, and the economy are some of the main problems that helped transform the environment
of the crop industry. The book explains in great detail the challenges that each crop undertook to
become a more modern industry, along with the increase of technology. Technology plays a large role
in creating a more modern life for the agriculture industries. Daniel goes on to explain the new
technology that is used during the timeline of events for the development of agricultural crops. In
Breaking the Land , it is broken up into four different books. Each book is in chronological order to
when events happened in history. Every book has several chapters contained in it that discusses the
transformation of each crop. For example, book one: Three Southern Commodity Cultures, 1880 1932
, contains three chapters. Each chapter discusses a specific crop and the transformation during that
time period. Each individual chapter tells the story and background of that crop. Throughout each

Executive Summary:
Global food demand is expected to grow by 110 per cent over the next 30 to 35 years as a
consequence of increased urbanization and the predicted rise in global population from 7.3 billion
today to 9.7 billion by 20501. Overlying this scenario are changes in the global climate that will affect
crop productivity. Cassava is the second most important source of calories after maize in some African
countries, like Angola and Mozambique, but for the rural poor, it represents a much larger proportion
of daily calories and provides an important source of proteins, vitamins and micronutrients1. The
vision for cassava is that cassava will spur rural industrial development and raise incomes for
producers, processors and traders and contribute to the food security status of its producing and
consuming households6.
The strategy applied can consist of identifying, in a systematic manner, the opportunities and
constraints of cassava at each stage of the commodity development cycle. The opportunities to
increase efficiency of cassava crop mainly relies on the modification of the structure and architecture,
and improving the genetic yield of the crop6.

Abstract:
Technology has had and imperative influence in almost every aspect of life. It has also made an
impact on how we learn today. Some question how effective learning could be via the internet, while
most stick with the familiarity of traditional classroom learning. Either option you choose still
substantiates that technology has changed the way we learn and will continue to expand on its
influences with the ways we choose to progress educationally. Each educational platform has it
disadvantages, however the advantages pose alternatives that can suit an individual s educational
needs.
With technology influencing almost every aspect of common activities, it s not unusual for it to
influence the way we learn. The traditional classroom environment is being challenged with the
implementation of online learning. With major technological advances over the last 20 years, many
traditional classroom environments have been replaced with online learning platforms that create
convenient, accelerated, and comprehensive learning opportunities around the world. Although some
would beg the differ that online learning can replace classroom education completely, online education
continues to improve allowing it to become a more trustworthy alternative for learning. Since the
traditional classroom environment pacifies familiarity in education some opt for

The Changing Place of Slaves and Slavery in the American Nation
In the beginning as early as 1502 the European slave traders shipped 11 to 16 million slaves to
America. The English colonists had indentured servants instead of slaves. Indentured servants were
servants that had a contract and only worked for a certain period of time. African American slaves

By 1662, the partus sequitur ventrem principle was adopted by the southern colonies. It openly
discriminated the slaves by confining them into a certain category of population. Their children were
supposed to inherit the status of their mothers regardless of whom the father was. In other words, they
would still be non citizens. This was prompted by the enactment of several legislations like the 1712
Slave Codes which was later adopted by nearly all the colonial states. Together with many
amendments and court rulings, this migrant group was stripped of American citizenship alongside
other privileges exclusively reserved for the whites. It clearly stipulated that no slave shall enjoy
freedom of movement, association, sell or buy a property, be taught how to read and write, employed,
demand for payment, plant corns, domesticate pets or possess any goods or weapons. If so, and
caught, they would be punished by whipping, nose slitting, branding, chopping off the ear, castration

While some of these deficiencies related to the planning process itself, many stemmed from an
ineffectual organization of the planning activity and a failure to develop the necessary internal
relationships (Simkin, 2002).
Traditionally, planning has been based on the assumption that the future is predictable as an
extrapolation of the past and present. In the face of a radically different future, many organisations
will find that doing more with the same or doing it better will not suffice. (Blanken and Liff, 1999, pp.
97 98). The planning is unpredictable for the future. Therefore, there are many ways in which the
process can go wrong. For example, Most companies plan, using a combination of forecasting and
budgeting systems. These tend to project current business into the future, which can work if the future
is going to be the same as the present or the past (McDonald, 2002).
Make a successful planning
A successful marketing strategy plan is fit with the appropriate context, whether it is measured
successfully is depends on the companies. Strategies have two essential characteristics, they are made

Gettysburg was the turning point in the American Civil War. Back in the day s before animation. More
importantly Gettysburg was the climatic clash between the two major American cultures of their time:
the North and the South. A climax of a conflict between two cultures with such vastly different ideals
that they could not coexist in one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
When looking at the causes of the Civil War, and eventually the Battle of Gettysburg, one must
understand the differences between these two cultures. The Confederacy had an agricultural economy

come to the date of July 1, 1863.
The stage was set for an immense struggle at Gettysburg after the May 1863 Battle of Chancellors

shipments of vehicles around the globe (time in transit as well as the cost of moving the goods) means
foreign automotive manufacturers must build their vehicles in the U.S. if they are to be competitive.
(Coffin, 2013)
There are many foreign competitors that have entered the U.S. market by either importing or
assembling their products in the United States. Foreign manufacturers to compete effectively in the
U.S. by assembling their products in the United States. However; there is still a stigma with
purchasing foreign engineered vehicles. To combat this in the U.S. and abroad, various manufacturers
have partnered with unlikely allies to product joint ventures. (Coffin, 2013) These unlikely matches
allow both manufacturers to take advantage of either specific technology (as is in the case of GM and

Reverend Dimmesdale s Slip In The Scarlet Letter
Reverend Dimmesdale s Slip Oh how the mighty fall. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s THE SCARLET
LETTER we see this man of God, this mighty Reverend who was viewed in an almost aristocratic
way plunge head deep into a pit of guilt and self pity, because he is scared to admit he is Hester s
secret lover, and our good reverend eventually drives himself mad with sorrow and meets his end.
This can be confirmed by a line for a paper written about Dimmesdale s feelings throughout the book
Dimmesdale alone knows that he is the man signified by this A for adultery and A for Arthur. This
scarlet letter is indeed a letter, an item of private correspondence between lovers (Valenti, 10). WE

He becomes demonic and is tempted to do some strange, wild, wicked thing or other, at once in
violation of his nature and emanating from some unknown and profounder part of it (CE 1:217).
Anticipating Freud s view of the mind an unconscious of sexual, aggressive, and otherwise tabooed
impulses precariously restrained by a socialized conscience Hawthorne writes of a total change of
dynasty and moral code in Dimmesdale s interior kingdom (CE 1:217). His ruling superego has been
dethroned, and unconscious forces formerly held in check by conscience and will are unleashed and
seize control. Within his own mental universe, Dimmesdale has indeed, as he fears, sold himself to the
devil (CE 1:222). (Milder, 6). The First vision that her encounters is his attempt to blaspheme in front
of one of his mentors who, is also a high ranking official in the church, but is able to laugh off this as
imagining the old man s face when hearing this made him laugh. In his second vision, trial as it is
described sees our good Reverend coming across one

Empedocles Cosmology
Empedocles s theory of cosmology is kind of like the theory we have about how the universe was first
started which is the big bang theory but Empedocles had different names for it. Empedocles had two
fundamental forces he called love and strife. Love being the force that pulled people together and
strife being the forces the pushed people away. Empedocles basically said that before the universe
everything was pulled together by love and eventually it exploded with strife releasing all the stars and
galaxies. This theory is much like the big bang theory, which states that there was first nothing and
then a big bang happened and everything was created. Next Empedocles thinks everything is made up
of four elements. These elements being water,

The main focus of her thought is the equality between humans. According to Betty Friedan, A woman

The Impact Of Movie Release On Tourism Demand Over Countries
THE IMPACT OF MOVIE RELEASE ON TOURISM DEMAND OVER COUNTRIES:
EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF THAILAND TOURISM INDUSTRY
Saisang Apichatvorapong (Management)
Directed by Yeujun Yoon
ABSTRACT
The main purpose of this thesis is to find out more information about the impacts of movie release that
has on the tourism demand in Thailand. Since it has been proved that movies can influence tourists to
visit a location shown in the movies (Riley Van Doren, 1992), this paper will estimate the number of
tourist arrivals from movies that has the filming locations in Thailand and released overseas based on
the main economic factors such as gross domestic product (GDP), distance, and relative price, which
are often used in the tourism demand equation. Seeing that the Thai tourism industry performs an
important role in the national economy, accurate estimates of inbound tourism from movie induced
tourism can deliver useful information for both the government and private sectors working in these
areas.
Secondary data were collected for this study, where we based on 42 countries from the year between
1997 to 2014. The study employs an econometric model of tourism demand and estimated using the
method of Ordinary Least Squares (OLS).
The result shows that 2 out of the 4 hypotheses were supported. As expected, it indicates that movie
release and GDP are positively related to tourist arrivals, while distance and relative prices are
negatively related to tourist arrivals. Hence, the higher the number

  • 2. Ethanol Fuel Scientists are constantly looking for new and more efficient alternatives for fuel. Not only are these for environmental purposes, but because of depleting fuel levels caused by over consumption. One common substitute for fuel commonly ??? made of crude oil or petroleum is ethanol fuel. This fuel, also know as ethyl alcohol, is created by the fermentation and distillation of corn. There are three main advantages and disadvantages when contemplating the use of this alternative fuel. First, although not popular in North America, it is possible to run cars on fuel containing pure ethanol. This is evident with ethanol derived from the readily available sugarcane in Brazil. Manufacturing vehicles that run on one hundred percent ethanol ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Primarily, ethanol containing fuels sold commercially are almost always mixed with gasoline. These gasoline ethanol blends either contain only ten percent ethanol or eighty five percent ethanol and are only compatible with cars that contain special fuel systems. So although reducing, ethanol is not eliminating the use of petroleum in transportation. Next, another factor making ethanol undesirable is its fuel efficiency and availability. Approximately one third more ethanol is necessary to travel the same distance as gasoline and fueling stations are much less prevalent. MORE SPARSE?. So, while initially the fuel cost is lower than that of pure gasoline, consumers are usually spending the same amount for fuel. The similar cost makes the hassle to find these fuel stations less justified worthwhile?? for consumers. Finally, if ethanol use and production becomes more extensive, it could affect global food and water supplies. More crops and farmland would be converted to produce ethanol, leaving less for food consumption. This would not only increase the use of pesticides and fertilizers but reduce water availability due to this nutrient needy? crop. This increased use of pesticides and fertilizers contributes to water and soil contamination with runoff, including lake, river, and drinking water. With reduced crops and fewer water supplies, prices of foods containing corn could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Notebook Essay The Notebook is one of my favorite love movies of all time. The reason I love this movie so much is because that main characters Noah and Allie go through so many trials and finally end up together in the end. This movie I feel shows me how strong their love for each other really was and I now feel as if it is meant to be it will always find a way. Looking at the movie as a reference to get a better understanding of how lifespan development works, I realized that most of the trials that Noah and Allie went though were part of stages of development. The theory of stages of development was created by Erik Erikson, he believes that we go though certain stages in our life and if we do not get passed them properly we will end up with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Feeling happy about their choices in life I feel lead to a peaceful death because they had everything they ever wanted which was each other. In the middle of the movie Noah finds out by Allie mother that Allie and her parents want her to go to school in New York. I believe this to be stage five identity vs. identity confusion which happens during the adolescence part of people lives. Allie was trying to figure out who she really was. Allie did everything her parents told her to do because she wanted to please and make them proud of her. When Noah came along I think things changed for her because she was able to be herself around him and she was able to see what she really wanted. I think that trying to be someone for her parents led her to be confused about whom she was and what she wanted. I think that Noah had a better sense of who he was because he had to grow up a lot faster by this I mean he helped his father with the bills and he felt like a responsible adult. When Allie walked into Noah life he knew that he wanted to proved and be with her and let her go and grow in college while he worked. He thought that Allie wanted to go to school closer to where he was so that they can stay together. Yet Allie parents did not want her to be with Noah so they decided for Allie to go away to school in New York and Allie followed what her parents wanted because she was unsure of what she really wanted or how to stand up for it. ... Essay on Foucault Panopticism Panopticism by Michel Focault Works Cited Not Included Our society is not one of spectacle, but of surveillance; under the surface of images, one invests bodies in depth; behind the great abstraction of exchange, there continues the meticulous concrete training of useful forces; the circuits of communication are the supports of an accumulation and a centralization of knowledge; the play of signs defines the anchorages of power; it is not that the beautiful totality of the individual is amputated, repressed, altered by our social order, it is rather that the individual is carefully fabricated in it, according to a whole technique of forces and bodies. The persons with the plague (lepers were included in this group) were always observed to account for their presence. These people were supposed to be present at their windows for attendance. Where they not present at the time, they were marked as dead. Their family would be removed, the house would be cleaned out, perfumed, and then, a mere four hours later, people would move back in. Obviously, the fear of not being observed would be strong in this situation, a direct result of the drastic measures taken once someone s presence could not be observed. Though this fear has the opposite motivation of the healthy citizens, who, knowing they are being watched, are afraid to do wrong, it works on the same basic principle. That if one knows they are being watched, it remains a constant consideration in their mind, regardless of the presence of an observer, the fear will always be present. The Panopticon, a prison described by Foucault, is a machine for dissociating the see/being seen dyad: in the peripheric ring, one is totally seen, without ever seeing (321, Foucault). This literally means that in the formation of the panopticon those who are being seen can not see one another and the one who sees everything can never be seen. That is the most important tool of the panopticon. Foucault makes this assumption about today s society by saying that we are always being watched whether we know it or not. Moreover, overly intrusive monitoring could decrease productivity and potentially cause exhaustion and feelings of anxiety. The Security Director s Report adds that surveillance can undermine morale and cause employees to resent management. It can foster discord and instead of bridging the existing gaps between management and their employees, surveillance activities may bring in more skepticisms and gaps. John Watson s experiment deserves the current criticism because it failed to observe informed consent and protection from harm principle. The controversy arises from the principle of beneficence and non maleficence. The principle requires psychologists, in this case, John Watson, and his student to benefit and care for his subjects. During the Experiment, Albert was nine months old. The age of the infants forms the first unethical behavior by Watson. • 13. Social Media And Electronic Communication Communication Electronic communication technologies influence the social development of adolescents in several ways including interpersonal communication, and emphasized that interpersonal communications are depersonalized because adolescent now conduct a higher proportion of communication electronically rather than face to face or voice to voice. (Subrahmanyam greenfield, 2008). Any type technology to communicate with others, such as cell phones, instant messaging, and social networking sites, it deprives any visual or auditory cues of facial expression, body language, and voice dynamics (Cyr, Berman, Smith, 2014). Interpersonal relationship problems arise when messages on either end are misunderstood (Erozkan, 2013). When adolescents communicate face to face, it provides an adequate tone of voice, therefore the message is more clearly, in contrast, when using social media, the reader may misinterpret the message. Erozkan (2013) emphasized that without effective communication, a message can turn into error, misunderstanding, or frustration. Communication is the basis of personal relationships and effective communication happens when the message that is sent is the same message that is received (Erozkan, 2013). This can cause differences in relationships as interactions face to face are necessary. Although face to face interactions provides more meaning to relationships, adolescents opt to use their electronic communication. Some adolescents might be more expressive ... To answer the question, I believe that the authors of The Signalman and The Monkey s Paw use the genres of mystery very well. I am going to explain why I think that in the following essay. The first idea that I am going to look at is the role of fate. We see this take place in both stories, but in slightly different ways. In The Monkey s Paw, we see fate take on a large role, as the story is about a monkey s paw that has been invested with a lot of evil power because an old fakir wanted to teach people not to interfere with fate and its course. In The Signalman however, the role of fate is not as large as the role in The Monkey s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, I will look at the suggestion of spectre. In The Monkeys Paw, the paw had been invested with so much power because it had a spell put on it by an old fakir , as this holy man wanted to get a message across to people that they were not to interfere with fate and its course. The Signalman is a story about a man who sees a figure, or a spectre several times, and after the sightings, the next day somebody dies. The suggestion of spectre plays quite a big role in this story, and gives a very effective result. The left arm is across the face, and the right arm is waved, violently waved. Moreover, the setting of The Monkey s Paw adds to the way Jacobs used the genre of mystery. Without, the night was cold and wet . You could imagine a typical mystery scene, with rain, claps of thunder etc a effective setting. The atmosphere inside the house was equally successful in grabbing my attention, the fire was burning and the blinds were drawn, and this gives me the idea of being cosy inside when the weather outside is terrible and miserable an appealing setting. The story is mostly set at night, which adds to the eeriness. Equally, Dickens grabs the reader s attention with a disturbing atmosphere. The steep cutting nearly over his head gives me the idea of claustrophobia. The thought of a foreshortened and shadowed figure gives me the sense of a figure that is possessed and not as it seems. This conclusion follows from the fact that the nature of arbitration depends largely on autonomy of the parties, who choose arbitration procedure as the procedure in which the dispute will be settled; place where the arbitration is to be held; arbitral tribunal etc. Probably the most important and considerable expression of the autonomy is the right to choose the law, which is to be applied to merits of the dispute. For it being many of their first times on the plane, the ride had gone very smooth; they had no turbulence and had a smooth landing. Their week long stay in Europe was filled with many different activities and very crowded places. Their first few days were going to be spent in France, and the rest of the trip was going to be spent in London. As members of a large group from their school, Callie and Jessica were excited to be on this trip together. Callie immediately noticed when she stepped off the plane all the different accents the people around her had. She was overwhelmed and began imagining what would happen to her if she got lost. Where would I go? Who could I ask to help me? Would the rest of the group find me? With these thoughts running through her head, she began to sweat and could feel her heart pounding out of her chest. All of a sudden she felt a reassuring hand on her shoulder and turned to see her friend Jessica by her side. I can tell by the look on your face that you worried about something. What s going on? Tar Sands In Canada Oil and gas usage because of tar sands is now considered the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Canada, which means it actually produces more greenhouse gas emissions in North America than all the CO2 from vehicles. The tar sands create both a noxious air quality, and a polluted water quality with bitumen (Greenpeace Canada; Semeniuk, 2016). This issue, in relation to Canada, is most problematic at the Alberta tar sands. The scientific consensus on this issue is that the tar sands not only has become one of the biggest emissions problems in Canada, but also that it has become a major health concern because of the misunderstood and unknown pollutants in the air (Greenpeace Canada; Semeniuk, 2016; Dr. Gosselin, Dr. Hrudey, Dr. Naeth, Dr. Plourde, Dr. Therrien, Dr. Van Der Kraak, Dr. Xu., 2010). There is also a general scientific consensus that this change in the air quality contributes to climate change. This change in air quality also creates a serious threat to humans. An anchor does not need to be to be reinforced with its response and it does not need to be conditioned over a period of time. Language is a common anchoring system. For example, the word dog will be an auditory anchor to an image of four legged animal that barks, an effective anchor with little cognitive effort. The smell of a hospital or a family member screaming in anger is examples of anchors that have been unintentionally installed and they operate out of an individual s awareness and direct control. Neuro Linguistic Programming operates to install new anchors which work just as well as these unintentional anchors and work toward evoking a response that increases the behavioral flexibility of a person and it is through these anchors that changes can be made in the strategies of thought. For Karl Marx, the changes in religion ultimately reflect the changes happening in society, because the religious world is just a reflection of the real world. In terms of online for profit churches, Marx might argue that the market is driving the religious realm to cater to technological advances.
