The Challenges of Good Governance and Project Implementation in Nigeria: A Re...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT : This study reveals that systemic corruption and other factors including poor leadership,
leadership recruitment processes, ethnic and regional politics, tribalism and mediocrity, poor planning, and
variation of project design have been the causative factors that undermine projects implementation in postindependence African states, particularly in Nigeria. The study, thus, argued that successive governments of
African states, using Nigeria as a case study, have been deeply engrossed in this obnoxious practice that has
undermined infrastructure sector development as well as enthroned impoverishment and mass poverty in these
African countries. This study, therefore, is posed to examine the similarities in causative factors, effects and
consequences of corruption and how it affects governance, projects implementation and national growth. To
achieve this, the study adopted historical research design which is qualitative and explorative in nature. The
study among others suggests that the governments of developing countries should shun corruption and other
forms of obnoxious practices in order to operate effective and efficient systems that promote good governance
and ensure there is adequate projects implementation which are the attributes of a responsible government and
good leadership. Policy makers should also prioritize policy objectives and competence to ensure that policies
are fully implemented within stipulated time frame.

Non-Financial Information and Firm Risk Non-Financial Information and Firm RiskAJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: This research aims to examine how ESG disclosure and risk disclosure affect the total risk of
companies. Using cross section data from 355 companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange, data regarding
ESG disclosure and risk was collected. In this research, ESG and risk disclosures are measured based on content
analysis using GRI 4 guidelines for ESG disclosures and COSO ERM for risk disclosures. Using multiple
regression, it is concluded that only risk disclosure can reduce the company's total risk, while ESG disclosure
cannot affect the company's total risk. This shows that only risk disclosure is relevant in determining a
company's total risk.

ABSTRACT: Although a significant amount of literature exists on Morocco's migration policies and their
successes and failures since their implementation in 2014, there is limited research on the integration of subSaharan African children into schools. This paperis part of a Ph.D. research project that aims to fill this gap. It
reports the main findings of a study conducted with migrant children enrolled in two public schools in Rabat,
Morocco, exploring how integration is defined by the children themselves and identifying the obstacles that they
have encountered thus far. The following paper uses an inductive approach and primarily focuses on the
relationships of children with their teachers and peers as a key aspect of integration for students with a migration
background. The study has led to several crucial findings. It emphasizes the significance of speaking Colloquial
Moroccan Arabic (Darija) and being part of a community for effective integration. Moreover, it reveals that the
use of Modern Standard Arabic as the language of instruction in schools is a source of frustration for students,
indicating the need for language policy reform. The study underlines the importanceof considering the
children‟s agency when being integrated into mainstream public schools.

Exploring Factors Affecting the Success of TVET-Industry Partnership: A Case ...AJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to explore factors affecting the success of TVET-industry
partnerships. A case study design of the qualitative research method was used to achieve this objective. For the
study, one polytechnic college of Oromia regional state, and two industries were purposively selected. From the
sample polytechnic college and industries, a total of 17 sample respondents were selected. Out of 17
respondents, 10 respondents were selected using the snowball sampling method, and the rest 7 respondents were
selected using the purposive sampling technique. The qualitative data were collected through an in-depth
interview and document analysis. The data were analyzed using thematic approaches. The findings revealed that
TVET-industry partnerships were found weak. Lack of key stakeholder‟s awareness shortage of improved
training equipment and machines in polytechnic colleges, absence of trainee health insurance policy, lack of
incentive mechanisms for private industries, lack of employer industries involvement in designing and
developing occupational standards, and preparation of curriculum were some of the impediments of TVETindustry partnership. Based on the findings it was recommended that the Oromia TVET bureau in collaboration
with other relevant concerned regional authorities and TVET colleges, set new strategies for creating strong
awareness for industries, companies, and other relevant stakeholders on the purpose and advantages of
implementing successful TVET-industry partnership. Finally, the Oromia regional government in collaboration
with the TVET bureau needs to create policy-supported incentive strategies such as giving occasional privileges
of duty-free import, tax reduction, and regional government recognition awards based on the level of partnership
contribution to TVET institutions in promoting TVET-industry partnership.

2. Introduction
As a group we created a questionnaire of around 14
questions which we handed out to 40 students aged from
16-18. We asked a range of questions where we could get
qualitative and quantative data. From these results we
were able to see what they thought bullying was, whether
they had heard of the beatbullying organisation and if they
had used the website. We also asked more personal
questions for example if they had ever been bullied so we
could get examples of storylines for our production.
3. How old are you? And what gender are
you?
What age are you?
What Gender Are You?
16
17
Female
18
19
We asked teenagers between the age
of 16-19 to fill out our questionnaires
and from our results we can tell that the
majority of our audience are 16 and 17
year olds. It confirmed that are target
audience are teenagers.
Male
We asked both genders to fill out our
questionnaires as we are aiming at
both genders as both can be affected
by bullying. Even though we got
more response from males we will
still be aiming at both genders.
4. What town do you live in?
What town do you live in?
Dunstable
Luton
Houghton
Regis
Other
We asked people from
Bedfordshire to fill out our
questionnaires as it is our
local area. The majority of
people we asked were
from Dunstable. From this
we can tell that we will be
aiming our campaign at
the local community as
well as nationally if we
share it on the internet.
5. How would you define bullying?
‘Constantly picking on a specific
person’
‘Constant abuse whether
physically, verbally, mentally or
through the internet’
‘Going out of your way to
constantly harm another person
mentally or physically’
‘Constant abuse’
‘constantly harassing someone’
On our questionnaires we
asked people if they could
define bullying. On the left is
some of the best definitions we
received. For example ‘going
out of your way to constantly
harm another person’ which is
what bullying can be seen as.
From our results we can see
that lots of people have
different ways of defining
bullying so in our campaign we
could give a definition for the
different types of bullying to
make it clear for people.
6. Have you ever been bullied or know of anyone
that has been bullied. If yes could you tell us
what happened.
‘I was bullied for four years through the internet and
verbally in middle school’
‘people were racist’
‘They were picked on because of their size’
‘I got called names due to my race’
‘A friend was criticised for her appearance and weight so
much that she wanted to kill herself’
We asked people if they had ever been bullied previously of knew of anyone
that had been bullied. From this we found out that a lot of people had been
bullied and we could use similar storylines in our production to make it as
realistic as possible so it gets attention and is interesting.
7. Where would you go if you were being
bullied?
‘Home’
‘Family’
‘Friends’
‘Teachers’
‘School’
We asked them if they knew of anywhere to go if
they were being bullied. A lot of them said they
would talk to their parents, friends and teachers.
However no one mentioned using any mentoring
programmes on websites. So in our campaign
we would mention websites and helplines that
they could use to help them if they were being
bullied.
8. What are some of the reasons you think
people get bullied?
Sexual
Orientation
Appearance
Race
Religion
All of the
above
We wanted to know what
the people filling out our
questionnaires thought
were the reasons some
people get bullied. If we
knew what they were then
we could address these in
our advertising campaign.
The majority of people said
that all the reasons we had
listed were why people get
bullied. Now we know this
we could try and address
these issues in our antibullying campaign.
9. What is your media preference?
TV
Internet
Magazines
Newspaper
We asked the people filling
out our questionnaires what
their media preference is so
that we would know where
to advertise our campaign.
Over half of them said they
use the internet so we
could advertise it on social
networking sites which is
what most teenagers use.
Also the other people said
they use the TV so we
could think about
advertising it on the TV if it
was possible.
10. Have you seen any anti-bullying adverts?
Did anything stand out?
Yes
No
‘Very effective’
‘More serious than I thought and
happens to lots of people’
‘They stand out when you see
how the person has been effected’
‘Personal stories’
Strong and graphic’
When asked if they had seen any anti-bullying adverts before just under ¾ of them
said yes but over a quarter said no. We want to advertise ours so that everyone can
view it. We asked the people that had said yes if anything stood out in any of the ones
they had seen before. They said that they ‘stand out when you see how the person
has been effected’ and the ‘personal stories’ stood out. These techniques have clearly
worked so we could try to include some of these in ours so it stands out and gets
recognition.
11. What would you like to see in an antibullying advert?
‘Show clips of the different aspects of bullying’
‘Helpline details and advice’
‘More realistic’ ‘Definition of bullying’
‘The effects bullying has on the victim’
‘Real life victims instead of actors all the time’
‘Shock value (more convincing)’
‘What it can lead people to do’
‘Personal stories’
We asked the people filling out the questionnaires what they would like to see in an
anti-bullying advertisement so that we can appeal to our target audience. They said
they would like to see ‘personal stories’, ‘shock value’, ‘helplines’, ‘advice’ and a
‘definition of bullying’. As the people filling out the questionnaire were our target
audience we are going to try and include the majority of these features so that we can
appeal to them and stand out.
12. Have you ever heard of the beatbullying
organisation? If yes, have you ever used
their website?
Everyone replied with no when asked if they
had ever used the beatbullying website.
Yes
No
Most of the people asked said they had
never heard of the beatbullying organisation
and no one had ever tried to use their
website. As this is the organisation we are
focusing on we want to try and get them
more recognition. We want to advertise the
organisation and bring them to the publics
attention. Therefore people being bullied
can see how beatbullying can help them
and people can get involved and help them
stop bullying.
